Our Secret: Rhys x Reader
Warnings: Slight Smut, 18+
***
His body was pressed tight against yours, his lips hot on your neck. You arched into him as his fingers dug into your waist, pulling you closer. “Rhys,” you breathed out, trying to not lose yourself to his touch. “We have dinner.” He grumbled against your skin, coming up to press kiss after kiss to your mouth.
“I don’t care.” His head dipped back down to your collarbone, one hand sliding down your dress to grab ahold of the bottom hem. Your head fall back against the wall behind you as he dragged the fabric up, fingers ghosting over your thigh as he sucked a harsh mark into your skin. You gasped at the sensation before pushing him off of you, smoothing your dress back down. You hurried over to the mirror in his office, groaning at the bruise he had left perfectly visible.
“Rhysand!” You glared at his reflection appearing behind you, a smirk flitting across his lips. One arm wrapped securely around your waist while the other came up to trace the mark he had made, fingers light on your skin. “We are already running late. I can’t hide this!” Rhys laughed behind you, hand falling away from your collarbone so he could tug you out of the room.
“It’s fine. As if none of them have ever shown up in such a state before?” He wore a teasing smile as you began walking towards the dining room, where everyone else was presumably waiting.
“They weren’t hiding a relationship from all of us. It’s going to look suspicious if we walk in together, especially with this. You go in first.” Rhys was making it more and more difficult to keep your relationship a secret, especially when he was the one who brought up the idea first. As if to prove your point he stopped you just outside the dining room, quickly pulling you close to him as he kissed you. Hard. You debated feigning sick for the dinner and having him take you back to office, begging him to have his way with you.
“You go,” he whispered against your lips, pushing you towards the doorway. “I can pretend I got caught up in paperwork.” You sighed and nodded, taking a deep breath to clear your mind as you walked into the room.
It took seconds for Cassian to notice the lovely hickey displayed above the neckline of your gown. “Who’s the lucky one?” He asked, laughing. You rolled your eyes at him and sat down, ignoring everyone’s eyes on you.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” You replied, winking suggestively at the male. You were saved from his responding quip by Rhys entering the room, eyes flitting amusedly around the table.
“Something I missed?” He drawled, taking his seat at the head as usual.
“Looks like our girl has got herself a secret lover. Know anything about it, Rhys?” Azriel teased from next to Cassian, the two overgrown bats dissolving into fits of laughter. Rhys’ eyes trailed over the mark on your collarbone, the one he so kindly left there. A smile quirked on his lips, all too pleased with himself.
“A secret lover? How salacious.” You caught the laughter in his eyes, stopping yourself from rolling yours again.
“Oh, leave her alone. As if you three have any room to talk,” Mor jumped in, jabbing her fork accusingly at the trio. You laughed with her, nodding as you sipped from your wine glass. Cassian raised his hands in mock surrender before everyone turned to the meal laid out in front of them. You were going to kill Rhys for this.
***
It had been a few weeks since the “lovebite incident”, and Rhys had let his guard down around you. You had sworn off all sex for a week after his little game, until he promised he would never ever do something like that again. That lead you to now, where you were straddling him on a lounge chair on one of the balconies of the House. You pressed soft kissed along his jawline, nails scratching lightly down his chest.
“Oh Darling, please stop teasing,” he groaned. The most powerful High Lord of all time, begging for you? How divine.
“Mmm, but why would I do such a thing when i’m having so much fun like this?” You teased, moving to lightly suck on his neck. His hands gripped your hips tight in warning while you ground down on him, enjoying the way he moaned for you. You knew you would never tire of that sound. You bit down on the spot you had been focused on, relishing in the curse Rhys let out. He quickly flipped you over so you lay under him, eyes blazing as he looked down at you.
“My turn.”
***
After your little escapade on the balcony, it was time for game night. You smiled to yourself as you looked over Rhys, pleased with the little bite barks that littered the side of his neck. You had planned the afternoon perfectly, knowing he wouldn’t have time to check his appearance before you were due to meet your friends.
You entered the room first, smiling at Azriel and Amren before walking to the well-stashed bar cart. Cassian came in not long after, Rhys trailing him. You sat on the plush couch, sipping your drink to hide your amusement. Azriel began chuckling from next to you, shaking his head at his brother. Rhys shot him a look, asking “What?”
Azriel brought his hand up, running it down the side of his own neck. “You’ve got a little…something there.” Cassian whipped around at the words, eyes wide as he took in your marks on Rhys.
“Oh-ho! Now what are you hiding?” He laughed, and you joined in.
“Maybe you should glance in a mirror after your trysts, Rhys,” you teased, hiding your smirk behind your glass. His eyes flashed with realization and he strode to the grand mirror in the living room. His hand moved to touch the bruises, as if he didn’t believe they were truly there.
Playing dirty, are we? He didn’t look at you as he asked the words, instead turning and smirking at his brothers. “I apologize that you two don’t seem to be having much luck in this department.” The boys broke out into loud shouts of laughter, teasing words thrown all around. Not a single one of them looked at you, connecting the incident a few weeks ago to now.
Good.
***
It had been a month since you let Rhys enter game night covered in hickeys, and he had made sure to thoroughly punish you that night. There was no sex ban when it was his call, instead he pulled orgasms from you until you were shaking and screaming his name.
You can’t say you didn’t enjoy his ‘punishment’.
Your game had lit a new fire in him. He loved the public marks on his skin, a silent way to let everyone know he belonged to you. Even if they didn’t know it was you. He had become even more insatiable and risky, taking you anywhere he wanted without care.
That’s how you ended up on the edge of his desk, his head buried between your thighs. You had one hand tight in his hair and the other digging into the polished wood, head draped back as moans of his name slipped past your lips. You were close, so close-
“Hey, Rhys, I wanted to ask about the reports from the last mission Az ran. There’s something- OH. Oh!” You shot your head up in alarm as you took in Cassian’s equally panicked expression in the doorway. The door Rhys hadn’t bothered to fully close when he dragged you in here. “I-uh- sorry. I’ll just, leave you to it.” You went to move away from Rhys, embarrassed by being caught, but he held tight to your thighs.
“You don’t go anywhere until you finish.” He didn’t give you time to protest before his mouth was back on you, sucking and biting just as you liked.
“R-Rhys. Ah! He’s gonna, ugh, he’s gonna tell everyone!” You tried to bite out through your moans, the pleasure Rhys brought to you pushing the thought away. He hummed against you, fingers joining his mouth until you screamed his name, pleasure washing over you. He only stood once you were done shaking, pleased with himself as always.
“I don’t care who he tells. Maybe it’s time everyone knew you are mine,” he said, pressing a soft kiss to your lips. You sighed under his touch, wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling him closer. You were about to ask him to take you on the desk when the door banged open again, Azriel and Cassian standing there. You groaned, resting your forehead on Rhys’ shoulder.
“Look, Az, I told you!” Cassian said with glee, clearly happy to be the one to have caught you two.
“So it’s true. That explains the hickeys and weird tension.” Azriel mused, and you could almost hear the smile in his voice.
Rhys shook his head, shooting a glance to his brothers. “If the two of you don’t leave in the next three seconds, you are going to be subjected to watching me fuck my mate in front of you.” You gasped at his language, eyes shooting up to look at him.
“Rhysand!” You chided as the door to the office slammed shut. He turned his focus back onto you, kissing you hard.
“Would you prefer I lied to them?”

Here’s a nice little Rhys piece for all my heartbroken love and loss readers!! (and general rhysand lovers hahaha). i hope you enjoyed <3

I thought It Was Normal
Tumblr media
Percy Jackson character x male!reader (gods x reader) (platonic all)
╰・゚✧☽ reader: like klaus from TUA. reader is a little oc in this, but i couldn’t help it. I needed this because I got a funny idea.
╰・゚✧☽ warnings: short , me having little knowledge of what’s to come in the books, not canon just a silly idea
Tumblr media
Camp got new campers every year so it wasn’t like they thought anything of you. The only thing is, you looked too confused to be there, everything Chiron said you would would give him the strangest look. Percy happened to be passing by, you got a tour of camp just like he did. And you were a bit to loud with your words- and let’s face it. He’s a little nosy.
“So you’re saying all the gods just drop their kids off here- or, don’t give them attention until they do something they deem worthy?” You ask like you had no care.
“Really a great idea. Half gods with daddy and mommy issues running around in the same place. Doesn’t sound dangerous at all.” You comment and continued walking with a eye roll.
Percy was interested in you right after that. You made him laugh and shared his views when he first came here, and he still thought them. He didn’t have to wait long to introduce himself since you left Hermes cabin in a rush to get away from people.
You didn’t want to talk to him at first. He tried to introduce himself but you brushed him off and said you weren’t willing to speak.
“I know it’s a lot to take in, but I’m sure you’re parent will claim you.”
You stopped in your tracks and turn around and started to flail your arms. “I am human! I have no godly parent, not like you-. Honestly I wish I was because I would be less concerned about my future.”
“That’s new.” A girl’s voice popped up from behind you and out of no where. A girl with a cap in her hands yanked down from her head, she looked intimidating to you.
“Can you all do that? Just appear out of no where?” You asked slightly scared but amazed.
“Let’s go back to the part where you’re human,” Percy stepped forward like you were a bomb of some sort ready to explode. “Why are you here?” You scuffed and shrugged your shoulders.
“So, i happened to eat a crystal I found in the woods behind my house. It was weird and it had me hypnotized, surprised I didn’t break any teeth, and the next minute I know I’m seeing the dead. And these voices are talking to me, then I’m moved off to this camp.”
“Wait the dead?”
“The gods say I need training before I came to them. Which is weird because you think they would train me themselves…do you guys know what I should do? I have no clue why they want me.” You look at both of them for help but Percy is just staring with his mouth open and shocked. Annabeth looks annoyed and looking you up and down.
“Don’t piss them off.” she was going to be great help.
Months go by and you grow closer to the trio. it was strange how you seemed to have more strength then a human, and could kept up in training with them. not once did you ever get claimed and it still surprised them to this day how you just become something out of the blue. They tried so hard to get their parents attention but you just- stumped upon something and had the gods interests?
yes, you were human. but no longer a human boy, but a god in training.
“did it have to be him? he’s more chaotic then your son Poseidon.” zues rubbed his temple as the gods watch down on you.
“fate is a funny thing brother.“
“I for one love the kid.” ares smirks as you trip percy and let out a vicious scream. nothing evil or mean behind it, just a adrenaline rush. but ares didn’t take it that why, you were going to be a monster.
“I’ll bless him soon, he should stay in my cabin.” Aphrodite smiles and played with her hair.
“We all know he’s basically my child, the dead thing? Yeah, he’ll be staying with me in the underworld when it’s time.” Hades smirks at all of them.
and just like that the gods are starting a war all over again.
Tumblr media
Reader: stumbles upon a crystal
the voices: eat me!!
Reader: No!! Let me go!!
Reader then becomes a god.

hi! can i have a platonic request for yujin with a male reader?
yujin joins a new school and is quiet and shy but male reader is the upbeat and excited (kinda like junhyeon) class president who wants to befriend him but yujin makes him work hard for his friendship? (idk this is one of those random late night thoughts😅)
tysm!
Shy, shy, shy!
Tumblr media
New student han yujin & class president male reader
genre: highschool au on crack, friendship, comedy
tw/tags: color-coded notes, yujin is a shy bean, a lil insecurity at the start, ft kum junhyeon, kim gyuvin & park gunwook for comedic purposes, age of trio is messed with a little to fit the narrative
wc: 1684
summary: you just want to be friends with the new student but it doesn’t seem like he wants to be friends with you.
a/n my first request~ thank you so much anon! I’m not sure if this is what you had in mind and i feel like it’s a little messy but i hope you like it! I tried to write it to be consistent with the korean highschool experience and ended up throwing the dog mafia trio in there for extra laughs — if you enjoyed this, I’ve got a ricky fic set in the same au and part two on the way~
Check my pinned for more fics~
“This is Han Yujin-ssi. He’s just transferred here and will be in your class for the rest of the year. Please take good care of him.”
You smile at the other boy while the teacher introduces you as the class president, returning his bow enthusiastically. His posture seems quite tense as he fidgets with the hem of his uniform jacket. Once the teacher leaves, you practically launch yourself into loosening him up.
“So this is your desk, I’m afraid we’ll be stuck together for the rest of the school year so I hope you won’t get bored of me!”
“Ah…”
“Definitely just ask when you need anything, especially if you need help catching up with any of the lessons, I’ll be happy to lend you my notes. These are my best classes,”
You gesture wildly to your notebooks. Yujin feels a little overwhelmed staring at the many brightly coloured post-it markers peeking between pages, all labelled in your handwriting. Everything on your desk seemed to function in some state of meticulously organised chaos.
“But if you need tutoring for anything else, I’ll be happy to ask one of my sunbaes.”
“Oh, thank you.”
You continue talking and Yujin just stands there. It’s a lot. You’re a lot. Not necessarily in a bad way, it’s just that you look so sure of yourself in a way that Yujin still doesn’t know how to. He can feel his other classmates staring at both of you. He watches you turn towards their direction and they avert their eyes, going back to chatting among themselves. His cheeks begin to flush with embarrassment and he furiously tamps it down.
“Do you have any questions? Anything I can help with, Yujin-ssi?”
How can you look so genuinely earnest? It must be such a hassle for you to look after him when you’re already in charge of the whole class.
“Ah no, it’s alright, thank you.”
Still, your bright demeanour doesn’t dampen, cheerfully calling the class to attention as the teacher walks in.
__________________________________________
“Ah seriously hyung, I’m pretty sure he finds me annoying.”
“You are annoying though, you’re annoying me right now.”
“Ah hyuuuuung.”
You’re about to sulk when rather large hands plant themselves on either side of your face and begin squishing your cheeks.
“Aigoo, aigoo, no need to pout, hyung is just teasing you.”
You met Kim Gyuvin after meeting Park Gunwook at a student officer meeting. Along with Kum Junhyeon, the trio of seniors were practically inseparable. And like it or not, they’ve unofficially adopted you.
Unofficial because your own mother had laughed when Kum Junhyeon showed up to your house with actual, legal adoption papers and then proceeded to pull up a whole powerpoint presentation to convince her to sign. While you expected Gyuvin to go along with this madness, you weren’t prepared to witness the horror of watching your student officer sunbaenim sporting a full wig and speaking in a high-pitched tone that would forever be burned into your brain. You couldn’t even look Gunwook in the eye at the next meeting.
Chaotic energy aside, your three hyungs were actually helpful whenever you did have a problem. Gyuvin pats your cheeks indulgently.
“He’s probably just shy. As long as you don’t scare the shit out of him like this one did when I first transferred over here, you’ll be best bros in no time.”
“Yaaa” Gunwook protests, “I wasn’t scary.”
“You looked like you could bench press my entire body weight and you stared at me for an unsettling amount of time when seongsaengnim introduced us on my first day.”
Gyuvin retorted, now squeezing your shoulders like they were stress balls.
“That’s because I couldn’t believe that someone the same age as me could look so damn attractive. It’s unfair.”
You braced yourself for the incoming dramatics.
“Ah bro”
“Bro”
“I didn’t know you found me that hot, bro.”
“You really were something, bro.”
Gyuvin lets go of your shoulders.
“Wait excuse me, were??”
“Gyuvin-ah, you and Junhyeon literally have the same personality, I love you both, really, but it’s-”
“It’s what, huh? What is it? Say it.”
You’re about to pull up some emergency aegyo to keep Gyuvin from fighting Gunwook. Luckily, Junhyeon has impeccable timing, almost non-existent volume control and a flair for theatrics.
“YOU’RE SPENDING TIME WITH THE BABY WITHOUT ME??? EXCUSE ME, DOES OUR AGREEMENT OF JOINT CUSTODY MEAN NOTHING TO YOU??? HOW DARE-”
Yep, time to do a reverse “Junhyeonie is 5” before someone loses their custody rights.
__________________________________________
“Oh Yujin-ssi, how are you? Is any of the material confusing? We can go over it at evening study if you like”
The other boy turns to you so fast that you’re afraid his neck might snap.
“Ah, I’m- everything is alright.”
It’s becoming a pattern. You try your very best to get Yujin to feel comfortable and Yujin tensing up and giving rather brief responses.
You invite him to sit with you at lunch and he declines, disappearing from the hall.
You offer him a snack during evening study and he says he’s still full from lunch.
You ask if he wants you to get him a drink from the vending machine and he waves you off.
And he’s not even being rude about it, every response is extremely polite, frustratingly so. And you feel lost because it’s so clear that he feels the need to walk on eggshells around practically everything and you don’t know why.
Despite being class president, you don’t have much in terms of close friends. You’re friendly with most of your peers but becoming an officer means that you don’t have much free time and thus, the friends that you once had would end up hanging out without you. You knew, like Gunwook, that the title could make you come off as intimidating. And you genuinely wished that you could have what your hyungs did, an inseparable bond with all the chaos.
__________________________________________
It’s three weeks in when Yujin doesn’t show up for class. The day after, you find out from the teacher that he’s been sick over the weekend and his parents are keeping him home for a few extra days to recover. By the third day that the chair beside you remains empty, you use your class president privileges to find out his address and decide to pull a Junhyeon, armed with the week’s class notes instead of adoption papers and unfortunately no powerpoint. Or a wig.
You knock on the door and wait. A few minutes tick by and no one answers. After double checking that you’re at the correct address, you knock again. As time drags out, you start to fiddle with your uniform jacket, wondering if this was a good idea. The door opens and you’re face to face with a woman who can only be Yujin’s mother.
You pull down your mask and bow, introducing yourself and holding out the notes that are meant for Yujin. Her face brightens.
“You must be his class president, you’re the only person at school that he talks about. Come in, I’ll have his brother check if he’s napping or not. He’ll be glad to see you after staying home for so long.”
You try to decline, not wanting to put Yujin on the spot but she insists, ushering you in.
“I’ve just been so worried for him after he had to transfer. He always gets so quiet with new people and I’m so glad when I heard about you, really. Thank you for looking out for him.”
She says as you toe off your shoes, trying your best to smile and nod while you’re internally reeling from all the information she’s unloaded.
“Ah, Yujinie, your friend is here. He’s been nice enough to drop off the notes you’ve missed.”
Yujin pauses when he sees you sitting on the couch. He’s a little pale but otherwise looks fine for someone who’s been sick for almost a week. His mother thanks you again before bustling into the other room. Yujin takes a seat on the opposite side of the couch.
“I brought the homework.”
“...”
“And all the notes for the lessons this week.”
“...”
“I’ve colour-coded them by class so you know which ones which.”
“...”
The silence drags itself out long enough for you to consider making an excuse and seeing yourself out. But before you can, Yujin finally speaks.
“Why are you still being so nice to me?”
“Uh- um- sorry, excuse me?”
For once, he isn’t the one giving a brief response but you’ve been caught off guard.
“I know you need to do the whole class president thing but seriously, you don’t need to go out of your way to offer me snacks or buy drinks or even come all the way here to drop all of this off. Seriously, don’t you think it’s a hassle? Why do you have to be this nice?”
This is literally the most you’ve heard Yujin say since meeting him. It’s groundbreaking. Incredible. Miraculous. Damn, you think your brain broke a little.
“I guess…I’m just being nice?...You know, for the sake of being nice?”
More like a lot.
“I mean you seem like a cool person. Like you aren’t bothered by how I have to like use a different coloured pen for everything or when my sticky note markers end up on your desk or like…yeah.”
You internally cringe at the word vomit that you let loose. Really, you didn’t rehearse your class president candidate speech a million times to sink to this level of ramble.
Yujin laughs. Like actually, genuinely, laughs.
“You’re actually kinda strange, you know. But yeah…”
He grins at you.
“You seem like a cool person too.”
__________________________________________
“HELLOOO MY BABY- OHMYGOD!!!”
Yujin looks positively terrified as Junhyeon flaps his arms wildly at him.
“THERE’S ANOTHER BABY!”
Gunwook looks vaguely amused, giving you a thumbs up before trying to keep Junhyeon from fully launching himself at both of you. Gyuvin takes one look at Yujin, turns around and walks out the door, mumbling something that sounded like “adoption papers.”
It’s going to be an interesting year.

Pearl was alone. Bitterly so. Sometimes she would watch Impulse and Bdubs in their garden, shoot arrows at them for fun. One time impulse actually caught a stray arrow in midair, and the three of them had had a moment of arms-raised celebration. But it was a quiet celebration, and she was, at the end of the day, still alone in a house in the sky.
It was sad living, even with her dog. She knew it was bad to be alone like this, with the voices of her friends (former friends?) echoing back at her. Stupid. Weird. Crazy. Scary. Demon. And she didn’t like how it sounded.
Impulse and Bdubs invited her for dinner one evening. She sat down in their living room with a warm bowl of soup, and for a while the three of them talked about the nonsense that any person does. Block pallets. Gossip about the other players. After a while Bdubs got it in his head that the room needed dusting, and put on a frilly apron that had Pearl raising her eyebrows, and laughs were shared. But it went quiet after a while, a comfortable silence that Pearl hated to break. But she had to ask.
“Impulse?”
“Yeah?”
“Am I a demon?” Somewhere behind her, Bdubs stopped dusting.
“A demon? What on earth would give you that idea?” Impulse leaned forward in his chair, a deep concern etched into his kind face.
“I- well, I may have inadvertently caused Ren and BigB’s deaths.” Pearl looked down at her bowl of soup. “I was just playing a trick, stealing their horse, fully intending to give it back, but one of them looked at an enderman and they…”
Impulse clicked his tongue in sympathy. “But that’s not your fault… I mean, just chance. But why would that make you think you’re a demon?”
“Well, Ren told me I had a darkness in me after that, that I was a curse, a demon. I was just trying to have fun and help them.” Pearl felt close to tears again, but told herself sternly not to. “And you’re the only demon I know and I just wanted to know…”
“Oh Pearl!” Impulse leaned forward, extending his hand. Pearl took it. “You know how Ren is! Dramatic down to the last bone in his body. Give him some time, flatter him and BigB, and I’m sure it’ll all be okay.”
Pearl sniffled. “Really?”
“Hey, would I lie to you?” Impulse smiled big and pulled his hand back.
“He’s a perpetual lier.” Bdubs deadpanned, coming to lay a hand on Impulse’s shoulder.
Pearl giggled. “Oh I know. You should see the shenanigans he gets up to in the soup trio base space.” They all laughed. “Well, thanks guys. I feel a lot better. You’re right it’s just a shitty day, and I can fix this! I can fix all of this!”
“Atta girl!” Bdubs cheered.
It was late, so after a bit more cheerful chat, Pearl decided to head home. Bdubs and Impulse walked her to the front door.
Pearl pocketed the leftover soup. “Thanks again guys. Good night to you both.”
“Good night Pearl.” Impulse said. They watched her leave- when she turned back to wave one last time, she could see them still standing on their front steps. Impulse had his arm around Bdubs’ waist, and Bdubs was leaned into his side.
“I’m definitely shooting more arrows at them, they are too domestic.” Pearl joked to herself.
——
“So?”
Bdubs looked sideways at Impulse, who was watching Pearl walk away.
Impulse said nothing for a moment, but wrapped an arm around Bdubs’ waist, eyes locked on the retreating figure.
“Definitely a demon.”
“Really?” Bdubs’ gasped, leaning into his side and watching Pearl start to climb the ladder to her house. “You’re sure?”
“Dead certain.” Impulse’s face was set in a hard, concerning way. “She’s more powerful then any I’ve ever met. More powerful then me. Her energy is flaring out of her like a star exploding. Look at my hand!” He took his other hand not currently holding Bdubs out of his pocket and held it out. The skin was burnt a deep red where Pearl’s hand had been in his. It was healing already, clearly, but was still nasty to look at.
“Oh my god.” Bdubs looked at it, and then at Impulse. “What does that mean for us? All of us?”
“I don’t know.” Impulse looked troubled. “But let’s keep her on our good side, yeah?”

hihihi! this is my very first request as i have just recently made an account in tumblr and ive been reading youe content for little while now. i really love them 💕💕💕💕
could i request for swapped au where the worst gen trio(?) see reader-san getting angry for the first time?
their haki explodes everywhere as they stared at the person who triggered them with so much hatred and literally almost knocks everyone out with how strong their haki is. over all, it's your choice. thank you!!!!! ☺️☺️☺️
a/n - I’ve gotten a couple other requests that are very similar but then I forgot to post this :’) aww tysm anon! You’re so sweet 💜😭
Warnings ⚠️ - daily reminder that I bully kid, g/n reader
Stunned
Tumblr media
Kid
- It was a pretty normal day for the guy, just tinkering with some newer projects, and watching one piece
- He’s a happy man if he gets to do these two things lmao
- This scene was a bit different than others, it was thrilling, suspenseful, everything you’d want in an action/adventure series
- You were fighting a villain that Kid really despised, he thought she was so annoyingly irritating (no I don’t understand kid)
- Honestly, you personally didn’t like this woman either, sadistic, god awful, horrible taste in fashion, annoying devil fruit ability, and she also had this tone of voice that made you want to strangle her to death everytime you heard her
- “Aw y/n don’t be a stranger! We’ve known each other for so long now.. So I’d consider us as friends!” She had this fake smile that made you want to punch her teeth out
- You almost gagged at her words, friends? You were far from that
- “Can’t Oda just fucking kill her off..?” Kid muttered to himself, almost reaching for the tv remote in order to fast forward the scene
- He stopped right before he pressed the fast forward button because he saw you twirling your scythe around, like you always did before you got serious in fighting
- You rushed towards the woman, clashing, weapons scraping each other’s weapons
- The woman laughed, holding her hand out, and causing your scythe to fly out of your hands
- “Repel..!” The woman said with a giggle, slamming her baseball bat into your head, sending you flying towards a rock
- Kid looked angry, worried, but also so enraged he could punch through a wall
- “JUST FUCKING DIE-!” -kid
- You grumbled something under your breath, struggling to recover from the hard hit to your head
- The woman dragged her bat across the rocky ground, the metal screeching noise echoing through your ears
- “Maybe we can’t be friends.. After all, I can’t be friends with someone who’s so weak.” She said with a disgusted look on her face, stopping when she was around 10 meters away from you
- Something snapped when she said that to you, what did she call you? “Weak”?
- You grabbed your scythe, and you slammed the bottom of it onto the ground, a wave of haki flowing out of your body, your eyes almost glowing with fury
- The woman faltered, falling onto her butt in such a pathetic way that children would laugh if they saw it
- You slowly walked towards the woman, your eyes wide with rage, your irises trailing with your powerful aura
- “Wait! Please! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean anything I said!” The woman pleaded, standing on her knees and holding her hands together as if she was praying to a god
- You simply looked at her with a pitiful look, “Who’s the weak one?” You asked her, putting your scythe’s blade to her neck before you finally eliminated her
- this long battle was finally over, Karen, the repelling magnet was finally dead, killed by you, the crimson reaper
- “LET’S FUCKING GO! FINALLY!” Kid yelled, slamming his hammer into the table as he kept cheering your name at the top of his lungs
- The neighbors filed a complaint and called the police because they thought Kid was either high on some shit, or just fucking psychotic
- “Uh does a Eustass Kid live here? The neighbors were complaining that this house was too loud, and suspicion of drugs was reported.” The officer said as Kid looked down with an irritated look on his face
- “I don’t do drugs, I was just watching tv.”
- the officers were lowkey scared of him, so they left him alone
- “FUCK YOU KAREN!” He flipped a middle aged blondie off with an angry look on his face
- “See?! I told you! He’s dangerous!” The woman cried to the police
- The officers didn’t want anything to do with Kid, so they immediately tried to calm the Karen down
- “God, I can’t even watch one piece without her loud ass complaining about stupid shit.”
- The Karen has repeatedly informed the police about Kid, and they’re too scared to do anything about him 👍
Tumblr media
Law
- The enemy you were fighting was starting to get annoying, why was he so fucking talkative?
- You needed this guy to just shut up before you literally exploded
- “Hehe! Can’t get me can ya? Awww.. You getting tired~?”
- You were about to drop kick this man into oblivion
- Your attacks were getting quicker, faster, was it your anger towards this guy?
- The man ended up slicing your shoulder with his blade, the steel digging into your skin, smearing blood all over the side of your face
- You grunted, grabbing your shoulder to try and stop the blood from pouring out
- the man laughed, twirling his blades around in his fingers while cackling
- His laugh was so goddamn loud, could he just shut up?
- Something snapped
- You clenched your bloodstained fist, shaking it quickly, the blood dripping off your knuckles
- The man still laughed, looking at you like you were just a silly act in a play, a comedic commercial
- Haki surrounded you, that same color, the color of the king
- Your fists were clad in haki now, your eyes wide open with such rage
- Law was sitting on the edge of his seat, hands clutching his knees
- He’s never seen you like this, he didn’t even know your haki was this strong
- he was stunned, he couldn’t even move, when was the last time he blinked?
- your aura caught the enemy’s attention now, it made him freeze up, chills down his spine as all the hair on his body stood up
- He was frozen, his eyes wide, sweat dripping down his forehead
- You slowly walked towards him, the enemies that were on the battlefield were knocked out from your haki
- The man was visibly shaking in his boots, struggling to even maintain eye contact with you as you stopped right in front of him
- “Not so talkative anymore are we?” You asked in a smooth sounding voice, holding your fist close to you as you twirled your scythe in the other hand
- You didn’t even wield your weapon, you slammed your hardened fist through his face, sending him flying into his own frightened soldiers
- They created a pile, a lump of pitiful enemies
- You didn’t even waste your time dealing with them, you took the blood that was splattered across your fists, and sent that blood flying towards the men
- That blood turned into a shuriken, slicing through the men, leaving them screaming as your aura settled back down
- Law dropped his cup of tea, his face purely shocked
- oh god he loved you even more now if that was even possible
- This moment would be replayed every single time he felt like he wasn’t gonna make it through the day
- It’s his hype up video :D
- every single time he watches it, he gets more stunned 💀
- he’s a deer in the headlights pretty much
- he’s that one guy on Reddit who’s arguing with people named “justarandomguywithamustache” or something weird like that
- he gets pissed off when people don’t agree with him or understand what he’s saying
- Law ends up thinking everyone’s just really fucking stupid lmao
- he 100% stays up until 2am arguing with people about the grim details of your abilities in that specific fight
Tumblr media
Luffy
- He usually watches one piece as he’s eating something, never before has he watched tv without meat in front of him
- this is an intense scene, you were getting irritated with how many enemies were surrounding you
- Their grubby hands were clawing at your scythe like they were animals
- “LUFFY! I SAID TO NOT FUCKING LEAVE YOUR SHOES BY THE DOOR!” - Zoro tripped over his shoes
- “SHHHHHHH-!” -Luffy
- he’s 100% in the zone right now, he’s not even taking a bite of his food, he’s just intently focusing on this fight
- You immediately kicked aside two of them, slamming both of your fists into two others’ faces
- Feeling their noses crack underneath your fists was such a disgusting feeling
- The scene slowed every time you landed hits on the surrounding pirates
- One desperately tried rushing towards you, throwing three bombs, the fuses about to reach their end
- Child’s play for the crimson reaper
- You dodged nonchalantly, letting the three bombs whip past your hair, exploding behind you like every other fight scene
- “YEAH Y/N!!!” -Luffy was bouncing in his seat, his heals tapping against the ground with anticipation
- The man who threw the bombs was absolutely stunned, frozen
- Haki enveloped your scythe, but suddenly, an enormous fist that was covered in haki slammed into your cheek, sending you flying backwards before you could even react
- “WHAT?! NO-! NONONO- Y/N GET BACK UP!” -Luffy
- You groaned, vision slightly blurred from the impact of the punch
- The pirates who punched you looked intimidating to say the least, his eyes dark, an intense exchange of eye contact between you two
- You were angry, you were just about to finish the fight, and then some asshole just had to come and punch you in the face?
- He rushed forward again, raising his fist like the time before, but this time, haki surged out from you
- Your aura was being sent out in pulses of frightening, chilling power
- The man hesitated, stopping his advance as his henchmen around them started collapsing from the sheer force of your indomitable willpower
- “The color.. Of the king?” the man asked with stunned eyes, his fingers were shaking with worry
- “Try it, try to punch me again.” You said with a dark look in your wide open eyes, you looked down on this pirate with the most disdain in your face
- He screamed, throwing his fist at your face before you simply punched him first, using your scythe to force him into the air
- You jumped off the ground, raising your scythe above you and slamming it into the pirate, sending him flying back down, through the ground
- You won, that was an understatement..
- Luffy was amazed, sparkles in his eyes, “SEE?! I knew it! He never stood a chance!”
- “Sabo did you see it?! Now do you see why y/n’s so cool?!”
- “Wait wait wait- SEE?! It’s slo-no that means it’s super powerful and cool! And oh- look at her cape! It changed to a different shade of red!”
- He was such a fanboy
- He needed to scream into a pillow from how hyped up he was right now
- Sabo and ace were so confused and had to sit through Luffy’s long episode of fanboying over you lmao
- He’s that one kid at school that thinks you solo every verse
- Luffy will hold true to that for as long as he lives 🫡
Tumblr media
a/n - I love combat stuff 😭 I wrote this in hc form because it was just a bit easier for me :) I hope you enjoy anon! So sorry to the other anons who requested something similar to this- it took me a while :’)

Dp x Demon slayer au; Nightgale arc
Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu all collapsed onto their respective beds in the infirmary house. They had just been double checked by the staff to make sure each of them were actually healthy and properly healed up.
It had been an eventual adventure for sure.
Having to dress up in drag for the mission, face off two demon siblings, and Tengen Uzui’s retirement means that the demon slayers are down another Hashira. At the very least there is a bit of a happy ending to it all, the demon siblings finally got a chance to move on and Uzui was still alive.
It's the little things to be thankful for. Even if, technically, it's big.
Though Tanjiro's true mission, gathering up high ranking demon blood to help Nezuko return human, was set back once more. He knows he should be grateful for being alive, yet it feels like obstacles keep getting in the way. Even if they win and survive, Nezuko was still stuck in her own torment.
Falling into an uneasy sleep, Tanjiro wishes something, or someone, could just help him on his mission to cure his sister. _________________________
The trio sat in front of Hashira Kocho, as she looked over their notes of the previous mission.
Glancing over at the three boys, Kocho placed her hands softly on the table. Knowing they worked hard and risked a lot, but missions have to keep getting completed.
"Well, I can tell you all this much, every one of you is healthy and ready to go back into the field." She told them with a smile.
Zenitsu groaned about wanting to rest up just a bit more and maybe hang out with the girls for an afternoon longer. Inosuke yelled in excitement, being ready to hunt more demons and not have to wear ugly clothes anymore. Tanjiro smiled softly, staying silent with his head slightly tilted to the floor.
Observing each, Shinobu Kocho pulled out the information for their next mission.
"And I'm happy to say it's going to be an easy one in comparison to what you have dealt with so far. You’re tasked with finding the Nightgale family and bringing them back to the Butterfly Mansion."
"Um, excuse me Miss Kocho, but who are the Nightgales?" Tanjiro's soft voice echoed in the small room.
"Ah, well where to begin. The Nightgales are one of the oldest demon slayer families. They were, in fact, the ones who figured out what metal could be used to fight against demons, and from there they branched out. Throughout the generations they have been doctors, scientists, slayers, craftsmen, magic users… really everything but cooks. Their entire livelihoods have been built on studying, and slaying, demons." Kocho's lips culled at the last statement as she watched Tanjiro almost jump at her words.
"Study? They actually studied demons? B-but how?! What have they learned? Are they willing to take an apprentice or share what they know?" Tanjiro asked question after question, only quieting down when Inosuke interrupted him with a tackle.
"Will you shut up, Tarongi! you ask too many dumb questions." he growled.
Laughing softly, Shinobu gently pulled on her sword. "Boys, no rough housing in my office."
In an instant both Inosuke and Tanjiro sat properly.
"Good. Now, as for your questions you'll have to ask them in person. The most I know is the latest Dr. Nightgale's have been studying demon blood and physiology, with their only child Jasmine recently finishing up her training to be a demon slayer herself in the last year. The reason you’re heading to meet them is because within that time frame the Nightgales seem to have vanished without a trace. You are to investigate why that is, bring as much information about their research back to the Hashira, and bring with you the Nightgale family as well in case they are in danger."
Tanjiro agreed with newfound determination in his eyes. He was ready to go right this moment and nearly bolted out of the door when Miss Kocho raised her hand to stop him.
"Now, I want you three to know some important information before you head out. The Nightgales are very hospitable to other demon slayers, but the moment they even suspect you're a demon they will not hesitate to attack, capture, study or kill you where you stand. Over the past 13 years they have been more paranoid about demons designing themselves as humans, so tread carefully. especially if you're wearing a mask, flirt, or have a demon with you." She stared at the trio, who couldn't even look her in the eyes.
"Hmp, I'll be giving you a crow to lead where the Nightgale house is… oh, and can I ask a tiny favour?"
“Of course Lady Kocho, what is it?” Zenitsu surprisingly asked.
"Can you get me one of the flowers they've been studying? There have been some rumours that they had found a new type that when matched with Wisteria flowers will amplify the power, and burn away a demon within seconds." She tilted her head playfully.
"A simple task to bring a flower to a fair lady such as yourself Miss Kocho, it would be an honour~" Zenitsu bolted out the door to get ready for the mission. Tanjiro and Inosuke followed, not wanting to be left behind.
__________________________
Tanjiro kept his eyes on his soundings as the crow led the way. To his left Zenitsu hummed to himself as Inosuke ran around looking for something to fight.
So far their journey has been calm, all they had to do was trek though a peaceful forest path, it barely counted as a hike. Nezuko was sound asleep in her box, restoring her energy while the sun was out.
As they continued on the tree's shade became thicker as the path was slowly but surely disappearing, leaving them lost. The crow they had been following seemed to have gone missing, and with the thick underbrush sounding the trio it was nearly impossible for them to find their way.
Untamed Nature caged them, yet strangely there was barely a sound but their footsteps. Not a bird song or the trickle of water, just pure silence. Taking a deep breath Tanjiro decided to keep moving forward, leading further into the unknown wilderness.
Both Tanjiro and Zenitsu were trying to step slowly around roots and lose rocks, but Inosuke got inpatient and didn't want to be stuck going that slow until nightfall, so he took initiative as he shoved past the two boys and ran ahead. With that they gave chase after their boar headed companion.
"Inosuke, slow down! We don't even know if this is the right way!" Tanjiro cried out. Zenitsu was just trying to keep up as he held back the need to cry, everything was going so good, but his friends just had to ruin it.
It wasn't long before Inosuke had run so far ahead he was out of sight, forcing Tanjiro to slow down and smell the air to see which way he went. As he slowed down to sniff the air, Zenitsu, being blinded by tears as he tried to keep up, bumped into the other slayer, causing both of them to fall down a steep slope. Crashing and tumbling down they come face to face with the bottom of the hill, a small valley covered in trees and thorny bushes.
Zenitsu slowly pulled himself up first, his hand pressed against some kind of rope. With lightning speed he moved out of the way just before the trap could pull him into the trees, landing right against Tanjiro’s side, who groaned in pain.
Tanjiro shook his head and got up, making sure Nezuko was okay and her box intact before looking over at a shivering Zenitsu, who stared straight ahead with a terrified expression on his face. Following his gaze, Tanjiro could see traps with rotting meat hanging from various ropes and rusted chains. Magical markings drawn in dulled, red paint covered the slowly degrading building, A vibrant orange sunset illuminating the forest and house before them.
"Yo! Zunkaka, Tabiroj, about time you got here! Hurry up, it's almost night you idiots!" Inosuke shouted as he stomped over. Zenitsu took small nervous steps towards the house, which just made the boar headed man huff in frustration as he marched over and picked up his sparky friend. Tanjiro quickly gathered his sword and Nezuko's box to join them, hearing her small growls and whines as he stopped his friends once they reached the front door.
"Hold on, this place smells weird. and Inosuke, you still have your mask on! Remember Lady Kocho's warnings? Let's just wait a moment." Tanjiro begs.
"No way, we came all this way already. If they want to fight me about what I wear, let them!" With that Inosuke shoved the door open.
What they were greeted by was the smell of medicine, blood, and rotting wood. Through the door was a darkened hallway completely absent of outside light, yet a distinct small shadow sat in the middle of the floor. As they stepped forward to get a better view the child sized figure snapped its head towards the trio, glowing eyes of green and blue illuminated the hallway as red lights flickered on, revealing who was really there.
A small boy with black hair and white tips sat perfectly still, not blinking, not moving, not even breathing. His porcelain skin cracked with scars across his face and down his neck, all while an oversized blue kimono draped over his small body. If it wasn’t for an almost familiar scent of Jasmine, cedarwood, rose and strangely ice, Tanjiro would have believed they were a doll.
Tanjiro stepped forward, about to speak but stopped as the living doll opened their mouth…
A piercing screech caused everyone to drop to the ground in paralysing fear.

The Dead Stay Dead
Theseus Scamander x witch!reader
Strangers to lovers, Major character death warning
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Jacob Kowalski is nothing if not willing to expand his beliefs about the world. So when he hears Theseus and Newt talking about Leta… well, he suggests the cards.
After all, his mother had the skill and hers always seemed to come out weirdly right in ways you didn’t expect it.
You can see the dead, and even though the wizards standing before you would classify you as a muggle, you and your ancestors are magick practitioners, through and through.
The cards tell you anything you ask, but that doesn’t mean it’s always what the patrons want to hear as the answers to their questions.
Usually, the people coming into the tarot shop your mother runs are there for a laugh. Sometimes they’re here already looking for a specific answer.
Will he marry me?
Does she love me?
Is my loved one waiting for me on the other side?
Typical, run of the mill questions. The type of questions you didn’t have to pick up the cards to answer, really. It’s like they’re thinking so hard that the answer appears scrawled in charcoal in front of their face.
You’ve never had a wizard come looking for answers in a tarot shop before.
There’s firsts for everything.
Jacob Kowalski is nothing if not willing to expand his beliefs about the world. So when he hears Theseus and Newt talking about Leta… well, he suggests the cards.
After all, his mother had the skill and hers always seemed to come out weirdly right in ways you didn’t expect it.
“Hello, gentlemen. How can I, er, assist you?” You can smell the magic on the two brothers from almost down the street. Their third companion though was much shorter, and decidedly human.
“We’re here with some questions for your cards, if you have time.” the shorter man responds for the trio.
“Interesting. I do wonder what sort of question could bring two wizards and a human to my door.” You raise an eyebrow at them.
“Someone who’s,” one of the brothers begins but cuts himself short. He won’t meet your eyes. You wait patiently though; if it’s a question about a “someone”, your guess is someone has passed away they want to know about. An area where wizard magic was sorely lacking. Hmmph.
“We’re hoping you can check on someone for us, you know from the other side?” The shortest jumps in again, smiling a bit.
“Of course, I’d be happy to, Mr’s…” you pause, hoping for a name.
“Oh! Apologies, uh, I’m Jacob Kowalski, and this is Theseus,” he points to the taller brother, “and Newt.”
“Pleasure to meet you all. Come with me to the back parlor will you?”
You lead the way to the back, down the creaky hallway with its peeling paint, and into a room covered in runes. The lights are dimmed in the room more for a haunting effect than anything else, making the runes glow.
Once seated around the table, you pull cards from a space beneath the table.
“What questions did you come here looking for answers for?” You spread the cards out smoothly in an arc in front of you.
There is a pause. A weight is in the air. All three of these men know what they wish to ask, however refuse to voice it.
How heavy a weight it must be, then.
“Ask, for the cards cannot help otherwise.”
“Can the dead be returned?”
You smile a sad and ancient smile. “The dead stay dead, Theseus Scamander. Or an incomprehensible toll will be exacted.”
“But you can see them, can’t you?”
“You do not want to see them,” you whisper. “They are past the veil now, you do not want to see them. They are not the same as they once were, don’t call the dead.”
You see her then.
A young woman, eyes a dark yawning pool, a hand placed on each Scamander brother’s shoulder.
“Hello Leta.” you say gently. “Why have you not passed on?”
The room darkens and chills, Leta screams a terrible scream that only you can hear, though it shatters all the glass in the room, startling your guests all the same.
You hear your mother yelling on the upper floor of the house, running footsteps down the main stair as she races for the back room.
“Leta please help me understand.”
You place your cards to the side, instead holding out a hand to her. She doesn’t move, rather appears in a mist at your side, right by your ear and leaning in to whisper.
Her nails are sharp talons, you can see whatever anger she has held onto in death.
“He. Must. Die.” The words are a whisper, raising the hair on your arms.
“Who, Leta?” But it must have taken too much energy to speak, because her form disappears even from your view.
You look blankly at these three men who have come into your parlor. What sort of danger were they in? What sort of danger were they?

MoJiLe Time Created
Hihi! This post has been sitting in my drafts for a while and I've worked up the courage to post it. This one revolves around how Maknae/Noona time was created. But I'm changing the name to MoJiLe Time because its cuter! Enjoy ~ Author Izzy
Tumblr media
Legend: November 2018
Moxy walked into the quiet Dream dorm. She was a woman on a mission. She walked back to the dormroom with one destination in mind. She got distracted by the 2/3rds of Dream maknae line lying on Jisungs bed. It wasn’t normal for the two to sit in silence together. Moxy was obligated to see what's up.
“Hey boys. You all good?”
Jisung turned his head to the left, meeting Moxy’s eyes, “We’re bored. The hyungs left us behind.”
“Why don’t you just go out and do something, then?”
Chenle huffed, “The manager said we were quote unquote too young to go out alone.”
“Ahh.” Moxy was gonna leave but something kept her in place. She couldn’t just leave them like this. Moxy huffed, her plan would have to wait.
“Alright put your shoes on and grab a jacket.”
“What for?” “Why should we?”
Moxy rolled her eyes, “Well I was gonna volunteer my services so you two can get out of the dorm. But if you’d rather stay here–” Moxy didn’t even have to finish her sentence before the two boys jumped up. Moving faster than ever, Moxy blinked and they were ready ushering her out of the door.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
First stop for the three was Chenle’s house. Right when they left the dorms, Chenle's mom called. After a few moments of rapid fire chinese Chenle turned taxi driver and gave his address. Chenle’s mom had cooked and told her son to invite his members over. What followed was Chenle showing off to others that Jisung and Moxy got his mother's food and the other didn’t. The three members couldn’t stop laughing everytime Haechan called to whine.
From there, Moxy had a manager drive them to Lotte World. She couldn't stop smiling as she watched the boys run around and act like the kids they were. Sometimes remembering how much all the members gave up to be where they are leaves a heavy feeling that's hard to shake. That feeling fades as she watches Chenle and Jisung pick out animal headbands to wear. Jisung trying to argue against Chenle in favor of the headband with tiger ears (He was losing). Moxy got pulled into the fun too. They played at the playground and even convinced Jisung to go ice skating.
Before heading back to the dorm, Jisung had their manager take them to a convenience store for ice cream. Their noona told the manager to go home for the night, the boys and her would take the long way home. As the building past them, the trio didn’t run out of thing to talk about. They even got a bit sentimental just as they arrived at their dorm building. Moxy dropped the two boys off at the Dream dorm before heading down to AG’s.
Jisung’s voice calling out to her made her pause.
“What’s up Jiji?”
Jisung looked shy, which is adorable. “Could we– could we do this again? Tonight was so much fun.” Moxy couldn’t help herself. She ran over to ruffle Jisung’s hair. The younger accept the affection resignedly.
“Of course we can. We’ll call it MoJiLe time.” With a promise for two weeks later, Moxy took the stairs to her dorm room. She wasn’t even surprised at the body waiting on her bed for her.
Renjun sat up, “How was your evening?”
“It was fun. While you and your friends were off gallivanting, I was entertaining the children.” Moxy slipped off her jacket before plopping onto her bed next to Renjun.
“It was for good reason.” Renjun's fingers started tracing random patterns on Moxy's leg
“Did you guys find presents?” Moxy asked. The singer hummed in agreement. “Good. Chenle deserves a big surprise from us for his 17th birthday.”
“Did you buy anything yet? We can go together if you want?” Renjun put an offer out there while walking to the door. It had been a long day dealing with 5 out of 7 members of Dream.
“Thanks but I’m good. I got him a pair of shoes yesterday.” Moxy met him at the door.
“Think we’ll get him to cry?”
“I think we have a better chance at him laughing at us for surprising him. Have a good night.” Moxy watched him walk down the hall.
“Night.”

“Summer’s happy. Deal with it, George.” Penny sighed, rolling her eyes for what felt like the millionth time that night.
It was the week before Summer and Jake’s wedding. Summer’s family decided to fly out a week before to help prepare for the festivities. Penny and Summer didn’t realize that it would also include Summer’s father trying to convince Summer not to marry the Seresin man during their first dinner at the Hastings-Seresin house.
“In all fairness, Jake’s not like how he used to be, Ghost.” Nat defended the man she now considered a friend.
Summer had run to the kitchen crying when her father explained his distaste toward the engaged couple. Jake had kept his mouth shut, only stalking off to check on his bride-to-be, with her mother, Emmeline, following behind closely. Instead, he left the arguing to Bradley, Natasha, Penny, and Maverick. With the number of swear words thrown around for thirty minutes, Summer was happy Amelia begged her to miss this dinner.
“I find it hard he’s changed so much over the years, Phoenix,” He said, spitting out her callsign like it was poisonous.
“He’s a lot better, sir, I promise,” Bradley admitted to the older man.
“I’d love to believe you, Bradshaw, but with the number of times you’ve lied for that girl over the years, I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re lying now.” Ghost shook his head, sipping at his drink.
“We haven’t even started dinner, and you’re already making her cry. Same shit, different day.” Maverick muttered.
“Pete,” Penny warned him.
“No, Pen. The one time she’s genuinely happy and wants to include him in something, he shuts her down, and Emmeline is the one that has to clean up the mess.” Maverick retorted.
Meanwhile, Summer was crying in Jake’s arms while they stood in the kitchen. Emmeline stood next to the two, rubbing her daughter’s back as Jake smoothed her hair. He kissed Summer’s forehead when she sniffled, and Emmeline smiled sadly.
“What do you need, honey?” Summer's mother asked her.
“I need dad to not be an asshole.” She said, slightly lifting her head from Jake’s chest to look her in the eyes.
“Sweetheart,” Jake laughed softly, “I think she meant something realistic.”
“Oh, I don’t know.” Summer shrugged as she wiped her face.
“Tea, please, Emmeline,” Jake said for her.
“Jake, what did we agree on?” Emmeline asked, smiling kindly at the man.
“Sorry, mom.” He corrected himself.
Summer laughed at that, and Jake looked down at her.
“Was that funny to you, Miss Hastings?” He asked her.
“Only a little, Mr. Seresin.” Summer hummed before leaning up to peck his lips.
“Your father will come around, eventually.” Her mother said while filling a tea kettle with water.
“I miss the days when I only had to worry about Natasha.” Jake huffed.
“I hope it’s soon, though. I hate to say it, but if he’s like this by next week, I don’t want him there, mom.” Summer’s voice cracked.
“Hey,” Emmeline came over and cupped her daughter’s cheek. “I’ll talk to him. Your dad has no say in who you fall in love with, and Jake’s a good man. I’m sure even your father can see how he looks at you.”
“She’s my whole world,” Jake told her mother.
“Stop being sappy.” Summer groaned as she hid her face back in Jake’s chest.
The trio jumped when they heard a door slam, and Penny walked into the kitchen a moment after.
“Em, I think George is ready to leave,” Penny said, almost laughing.
“What did you do?” Emmeline asked her sister.
“I didn’t do anything,” Penny stated.
“What did Bradley do?” Emmeline sighed, rubbing her temples.
“He vaguely alluded that Goose would be disappointed in him.” Penny rushed out.
“Fuck, I didn’t think Bradshaw liked me that much.” Jake chuckled.
“Does that mean you guys aren’t staying for dinner?” Summer said uneasily.
“Oh, Pete and I are staying. I just wanted to let Em know if she wanted to head back. I gave George my keys.” Penny said as she walked to the fridge to grab a beer.
Summer smiled happily, knowing her aunt and uncle would be staying.
“Mom, Ghost wants to know if you’re heading back to Penny’s or not,” Nat said as she walked in.
Emmeline sighed again before silently leaving the kitchen to walk out of the house. Summer faltered slightly, and Jake squeezed her side. He knew her mother wouldn’t just abandon them like that. But, unlike George, Emmeline Hastings was a saint. She was the type of woman carrying a sewing kit just in case. Emmeline would always let Summer’s friends stay over whenever they wanted, no questions asked. She heard Jake out when he and Summer first told her parents about their engagement. They talked for hours, and Jake got to know his future mother-in-law. She loved him like a son within the first five minutes.
Jake never understood why Summer’s heart was so full of love until he met her mother. Summer’s personality was a carbon copy of Emmeline’s. Jake only hoped he’d be able to have their children experience the same love and care he knew Summer would give them. And he has Emmeline to thank for that. Jake refocused when he heard Summer say something to her mother when she returned to the kitchen.
“You’re not going back to aunt Pen’s?” Summer asked, hopefully.
“No, I told your father I’m having dinner with our children and their friends.” Emmeline smiled at the couple.
“Set the table, and I’ll bring the food out?” Jake suggested to Summer.
“Sounds like a plan,” Summer smiled at her lover. “Mom, can you-”
“I’ll get the drinks and finish the tea I was making.” Emmeline cut her off.
Bradley entered the kitchen right when Summer was about to walk out with a stack of plates.
“Dinner’s still on, right?”
June 25, 2020
“What if my dress doesn’t fit?”
Summer’s been pacing around for the last ten minutes, panicking about every aspect of their wedding. Are the flower arrangements too flashy? Did they invite too many people? Did they invite too few people? Maybe they should change the color scheme.
“Didn’t you try it on yesterday?” Jake asked, lying on his stomach on their bed as he watched her.
“Yeah, but what if it shrunk overnight?” Summer asked, and Jake couldn’t figure out if she was serious.
“Sweetheart, you’re gonna look perfect tomorrow. I promise.” He said, catching her hand as she walked past.
“If I end up looking perfect, you better cry.” She said as she sat next to him.
“I’m a naval aviator with two confirmed kills. I think I can handle you in a white dress.” He winked.
“That’s such a man's answer.” She groaned, falling back onto the mattress.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Jake looked over to see her lying opposite him and changed his position to hover over her.
“The whole it’s just a dress thing.” Summer sighed, rolling her eyes.
He loved when she did that.
“It’s not just a dress,” He agreed. “It’s the rest of our lives.”
“Thanks, Hangman. I’ve only been trying to tell you that since I went to my fitting.” She deadpanned.
Jake laughed at her before leaning down to kiss her.
“I love you, Hastings.” He said as he pulled away.
“So weird that won’t be my legal name anymore.” She laughed.
“So you’re definitely taking on the Seresin name?” He asked.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I?” She asked him.
“Penny didn’t take Maverick’s, so I assumed you wouldn’t.” He shook his head.
Suddenly, Summer’s phone started to buzz, causing the couple to break out of their bubble. Jake reached over to grab it from the nightstand and answered it.
“Hey, Ames, what’s up?”
Summer watched the man as he listened to her cousin on the other line. She noticed how his eyebrows crinkled when he was listening and how he bit the inside of his cheek. She beamed at him when his glance cast down to her, a look of fondness on his face. Summer reached up and poked his nose, and he laughed at the action. His laughing abruptly stopped when Amelia said something causing him to pull away from Summer and rush around their bedroom.
“Can you stall for like fifteen minutes? Thanks.” He hung up the phone and tossed it on the bed.
“Baby, what’s wrong?” Summer sat up, confused.
“We’re late for our rehearsal dinner. Get dressed.” He said as he shrugged on a light blue button-down shirt after putting on some slacks.
Summer shrieked as she threw on her white peasant dress, mentally giving herself a high-five for doing her makeup an hour ago. Jake was fiddling with a tie when Summer grabbed his arm to pull him out to his truck.
“Ditch the tie. We don’t have time!” She yelped.
“Summer, shoes!” Jake called out to her when she was almost out the door.
She slipped on sandals as Jake finished tying his dress shoes.
The two make it to the Hard Deck in five minutes, thanks to Jake’s speeding. They rush to the front door, and just when Jake’s about to open it, Summer stops him.
“We can’t go in there.” She said.
“Why not?” He asked dumbly.
“If we go in there, they’ll think we’re late because we were having sex.” She explained.
“We weren’t having sex,” He stated the obvious.
“They don’t know that!” She pointed out.
“If we stay out here, they’ll think we’re still having sex.” He said, following her logic.
Summer whined before gesturing for Jake to walk in first, and the couple walked in to see their loved ones waiting for them. Amelia was sitting with Bob and Reuben as they talked her through making a virgin cocktail while Rooster and Mickey laughed about something that was said. Javy and Nat quietly spoke with Maverick while Penny and Emmeline distracted George.
“Late to a party dedicated for you, never thought we’d see that.” Bradley laughed.
“Thanks for that, Bradshaw,” Jake said as he felt George glaring at him.
“Anytime, Seresin.” Bradley grinned.
“Summer, help me with the food?” Nat cut in, whisking her friend to the kitchen before anything else could happen.
As soon as the door closes, Nat questions her friend.
“Be honest. Were you getting railed?” She asked.
“I wish,” Summer groaned. “We haven’t had sex since my parents got here. We’ve been too stressed to even think about it.”
In the other room, Javy was questioning Jake the same way.
“You weren’t like in her when Amelia called, right?” Javy asked him.
Jake almost choked on his beer, “No! Javy, her father is right there. I can’t do this shit right now.”
Nat and Summer bring out the food, and Jake’s happy for this conversation to end. The dinner went well, and then it was time for the toasts. The group agreed to save their more personal ones for the rehearsal dinner. Only some people can know how likable Hangman is now. Nat and Javy recalled a sweet memory of the girl’s night they had just a year before, it being the reason they’re now together, and they have Jake and Summer to thank for that. Bradley thanked Summer for being the reason the group doesn’t just know Hangman, but they now know Jake Seresin. He mentioned how he’s never seen the man act so selfless until Jake met her and that he could proudly call him a friend. Bob, Reuben, and Mickey decided it would be best to commemorate the couple with a song, so they sang The Very First Night by Taylor Swift. Jake almost cried from laughing so hard. It started to hit a little closer to home when Penny recalled the fateful night in 2013 when Summer first met Jake.
“I don’t know how many people know this because I don’t know if they’ve been giving me credit, but I’m why these two even met in the first place,” Penny started, and Nat whooped.
“If I remember correctly, Summer was eighteen seven years ago, right?” She asked her sister for confirmation, and Emmeline nodded.
“So she called me like she always did once her spring semester ended to come to visit. We talked for a little bit, and then Coyote decided to knock something over.” She called him out, and Jake and Summer laughed, leaning into each other.
George observed the two as Penny continued her story.
“I go over to clean the mess, and I swear I only stepped away for two seconds, but Jake decides to grab my phone and talk to Summer. And at this point, I only know him as the kid that constantly gets yelled at by George, so I think he’s a bad influence.” She laughed.
“He is!” Bradley called out, and Jake flipped him off.
“Cut to when Summer’s here a few years later, and I see her talking to him again when I sent her to clean up. Coyote also made another mess. I won’t forget that. But I saw how Jake watched her even after the shortest interaction because I called her back to the bar. Summer came back and asked about him after finding Nat in the crowd. We both told her he was trouble, and then she said he told her she could put her drinks on his tab,” Penny laughed, and everyone else joined.
Jake was blushing while his friends taunted him.
“Which is why you had three tequila lemonades on your tab that night, Seresin. Last year was different, though. When Summer returned that first night, I noticed how light she’d been acting. She came back a bit more carefree. Jake, I just want to thank you for bringing that light to my niece. You make her so happy, and I know you’ll just keep trying to better yourself for her. I see it every day. I love you both.” Penny smiled once she was finished.
“I’m not gonna lie. That almost made me cry.” Jake sighed deeply.
“You big softie.” Summer giggled and pressed a kiss to his cheek.
George hadn’t realized how much his daughter impacted Jake’s life. From the stories he heard, he noticed that Jake Seresin was not the same kid from nearly a decade ago. Jake was a man his daughter saw fit enough to be a husband, and George needed to respect that. Nat had turned on music for everyone to dance, and seeing how delicate Jake was with Summer reminded him of how he acted when he first met Emmeline. Jake loved Summer to death; everyone could see it; it wasn’t a secret.
June 26, 2020
Jake and Summer were getting married on the beach behind the Hard Deck. Everyone had an essential role in their wedding. They convinced Bob to be the officiant for the special day, Nat was the maid of honor (obviously), Javy was the best man, Amelia and Penny were bridesmaids, and Bradley and Maverick were groomsmen. Mickey and Reuben had begged to be co-ring bearers. The day went smoothly until the latter two lost the rings.
“What do you mean you lost the rings?” Jake yelled.
“Dude, I think you know what we mean,” Mickey said.
“How?” Jake asked, exasperated.
“How what?” Mickey asked.
“Mickey, I swear to god,” Jake went to lunge at him, but Reuben stopped him.
“Jake, we’ll find them,” Reuben said.
“Great, do that while I tell Summer, just in case you can’t.” Jake squeezed his eyes shut before walking to where Summer was getting ready.
The Hard Deck had two offices at opposite ends of the bar. Jake was using Jimmy’s office to get ready, while Summer used Penny’s. Jake knocked on the door and locked eyes with Nat when it opened. She quickly pushed him away from the door and walked out, quickly slamming it behind her.
“You know it’s bad luck if you see her before the ceremony,” Nat muttered.
“Yeah, dumb and dumber lost the rings, so I figured that takes priority.” Jake retorted.
“What?” Nat shrieked.
“Nat, is everything okay?” Summer called out from behind the door.
“Summer, I’m sorry, but the guys lost the rings,” Nat said as she held the door shut.
“What?” Summer yelped and somehow got the door open, stepping out of the office in flip-flops, shorts, and one of Jake’s tees with her makeup and hair done.
“Summer, he’s not supposed to see you.” Nat reminded her friend.
“I’m not in my dress. It doesn’t count.” Summer shrugged.
Summer looked at Jake, and he felt like his knees were going to buckle.
“Looking hot, Seresin.” She said as she checked him out.
Jake was only in his dress pants with a white tee tucked in paired with his dress shoes.
“Keep looking at me like that, and we’re kicking everyone out and getting on top of the bar.” He smirked.
Natasha gagged.
“Do you wanna find these rings or not?” She asked the couple.
“Where did you guys last have them?” Summer asked as she approached the men responsible for their loss.
“The last time I remember having them was under the cabana outside,” Reuben said.
“That’s where we’ll start,” Jake nodded before heading outside with Summer and the others trailing behind.
“You guys aren’t supposed to see each other yet!” Amelia scolded.
“I didn’t know you were doing that,” Penny said, fixing a flower arrangement.
“We aren’t. It’s being forced on us,” Summer said.
“Anyway, by any chance, have you seen the rings at all?” Nat asked the two.
“You lost the rings?” Penny widened her eyes at Reuben and Mickey.
“That’s the easiest job!” Amelia yelled at them.
The four started bickering while the other three spread out to scan the area where everything had been set up. Jake took the farther side of the aisle to look, and Nat stayed closer to Summer.
“Is it weird to think you’ll be walking down that aisle to get married in a couple hours?” Nat asked.
Summer looked at the aisle and saw Jake checking the end for the missing velvet box. He looked up as if he felt her eyes on him and waved at her. She laughed as she waved back.
“It feels like I’ve been married to him for the past year. I think I’ll evade the bridezilla meltdown.” Summer said.
“I know I’m just one of the old guys walking her down the aisle, but are the rings supposed to be sitting up here?” Maverick’s voice called out from the far side of the wrap-around deck of the bar.
Summer glared at Mickey and Reuben before walking to Maverick to grab the box.
“Thanks, Mav.” She said before showing the box to Jake and then taking it inside.
“Isn’t it bad luck for the bride and groom to see each other before the ceremony?” Maverick called back to Summer, and she slammed the office door in response.
An hour and forty-five minutes before the ceremony, Summer and Emmeline started arguing about Summer going to the bathroom one last time before getting dressed.
“Mom, I don’t have to go,” Summer whined.
“Summer, it takes three people to properly get you in that dress. Go pee.” Her mother demanded.
“Fine,” Summer groaned while Nat laughed at her.
She opted for the family bathroom, grimacing at the urinal, and went into the stall. Summer quickly did her business and was just about to leave the stall before hearing the door to the bathroom open. She bends her knees to look under the stall and sees a familiar pair of dress shoes. What Summer seemed to forget was that she was in a bathroom. She awkwardly stood there, waiting for him to finish up before deciding it was time for her to get out of there. Jake jumped when Summer walked out of the stall. He was fully dressed in his suit while she was still wearing his clothes.
“Were you just-” Jake started and was cut off.
“It happened. Let’s not talk about it.” Summer cringed while she washed her hands.
She left the sink running, and Jake washed his hands right when she was done. The two dried their hands in silence before Jake spoke up again.
“We’re getting married in less than fifteen minutes.” He said, nudging her with his shoulder.
“It sounds so weird when you say it out loud.” She laughed.
“A good weird, right?” He asked.
“The best kind of weird.” She said.
Jake checked his watch and saw that the ‘less than fifteen minutes’ had turned into less than ten minutes.
“You gotta go get in your dress, sweetheart. It’s almost time.” He said, pulling her into his arms to hug her tight.
“Don’t laugh at me if I trip,” She said as she kissed his neck.
“Don’t laugh at me if I faint.” He chuckled.
Summer pulled back to look at him and laughed breathlessly.
“I love you so much.” She sniffled.
“Hey, no crying. That’s my job.” He laughed, kissing her forehead. “I’ll see you out there in like five minutes, alright?”
“I’ll be the one in white,” Summer smiled lightly.
The couple walked out together, and Jake kissed her quickly before dashing out of the bar to his post at the end of the aisle. His family hadn’t been able to make it out to California, but he didn’t mind. Nat had someone set up to record the ceremony for his parents, but the rest of his family (his teammates) were there.
“You’re like two minutes late. Where were you?” Javy asked Jake as he watched him settle between him and Bob.
“Ran into Summer in the bathroom,” Jake shrugged.
“Dude,” Bob groaned.
“We just talked, Bob. Chill out.” Jake laughed.
The aviators Summer and Jake felt closest to that weren’t in the wedding party were spread out on both sides of the aisle. There wasn’t really set seating, considering they knew everyone on base.
“Jake, you look so handsome,” Emmeline said from her seat.
“You look great, too, mom,” Jake said.
The music started up, and all the guests stood up. Out walked Amelia and Bradley. They were talking as they walked down the aisle, and Amelia laughed at something the man said. They made it to the end of the aisle, and Bradley gave Jake a fistbump and stood next to Javy before Amelia hugged him.
“Can’t wait for you to officially be a part of the family, cousin.” She said.
“Don’t call me cousin. It makes you sound pretentious.” Jake shook his head at her, and she laughed as she settled into her spot.
Penny made her way down the aisle, laughing as she tried to shield the sun from her eyes. When she reached the end, she pulled Jake into a hug and pinched his cheek when she pulled away.
“Oh, my nephew looks so cute. Doesn’t he look adorable, Amelia?” Penny mockingly cooed as she settled next to her daughter.
“Is this a family initiation or something? What’s happening?” Jake asked, turning to Emmeline, who just laughed.
Nat was the next to make her trip down the aisle. She sashayed so gracefully that Javy felt like passing out.
“Javy, you good?” Bob asked him.
“I’m fantastic, Bob.” Javy bounced in his spot happily.
Nat stopped in front of Jake and opened her arms for a hug. Jake awkwardly stepped into the hug, and Nat pulled him in super close.
“If you ever hurt her, Seresin, I know people that’ll make your body disappear.” She whispered threateningly.
“Noted,” Jake said and awkwardly cleared his throat as they pulled away.
Summer was anxiously pacing behind the corner before the aisle while she waited for her cue after Mickey and Reuben took their turn walking down the aisle.
“Summer, I know you love him and wanted to marry him, but we can call it off if you want,” George said as he watched his daughter dart around.
Maverick glared at the man for trying to plant the thought in Summer’s head.
“I’m pro-Jake now. I’m just letting her know leaving is an option if she changed her mind.” Her father defended himself.
“Kid,” Maverick said, grabbing Summer to stop her pacing.
“Mav, I’m scared.” She murmured.
“It’s okay,” He nodded. “Close your eyes and take a deep breath.”
Summer did as she was told and felt calmer already.
“Do you love this knucklehead?” He asked her.
“I do.” Summer laughed at his choice of words.
“Why are you freaking out then?” He asked.
“What if I walk down that aisle, and he realizes he doesn’t love me like that and doesn’t want to marry me?” Her lip quivered.
“Honey, that won’t happen,” George interjected. “He loves you. Very noticeably, might I add.”
Summer smiled before feeling anxious again.
“What if I fall?” She asked.
“You won’t.” Her dad promised.
“But what if?” She asked again.
“We’ll catch you if you do,” Maverick promised.
Summer nodded and took another deep breath.
“I’m ready.”
She looped an arm with each man, and they walked her to the beginning of the aisle. Summer subtly wobbled when she made eye contact with Jake.
“We can still make a break for it if you want.” Maverick joked as the three slowly walked down the aisle.
Jake held on to Javy for support as tears rose in his eyes.
“Yo, Hangman, you good?” Bradley asked him weirdly.
Jake didn’t answer. He just stared at Summer while some of his tears started to fall. Nat was crying as well but looked over at the man when she heard him sniffle.
“Hangman, why are you crying?” Nat asked, bewildered.
“Guys, Summer’s gonna be my wife. That woman, right there, is gonna be my wife in like thirty minutes.” He gushed, completely ignoring all his friends.
“Oh my god, he’s lost it,” Amelia said.
“To be fair, I don’t think he’s ever had it,” Penny said.
“Mickey, you owe me ten dollars,” Reuben said, and Mickey grumbled in response.
Summer relaxed once she reached Jake. He dried his tears while Maverick and Ghost looked at him weirdly.
“Can everyone stop acting weird? I have feelings too.” Jake sniffled.
Maverick kissed Summer on the cheek and gave Jake a hug before going to stand next to Bradley. Ghost kissed his daughter’s forehead before handing her off to Jake and taking his seat next to Emmeline.
The ceremony was smooth if you excluded the number of tears that had been shed. They were mainly from Jake, which had everyone confused for the entirety of it. The two happily ran into the Hard Deck to change after the ceremony. Summer changed into a white sundress while Jake just took off his tie, suit jacket, and button-down, looking like he did when she first saw him that morning.
“Is there a specific reason you guys aren’t doing a first dance thing?” Bradley asked the couple when they made their way out to the bar as the other guests piled in.
“If Jake had it his way, we’d be slow dancing to Slow Ride. No thanks,” Summer shook her head at her friend.
“It’s a good song!” Jake argued.
“Maybe when you don’t listen to it twenty-four-seven.” Summer countered.
Jake and Summer were standing pressed against each other, him standing behind her as she leaned against him. His left hand was placed on her abdomen, and she traced over his newly adorned wedding band with her fingers.
The couple was soon approached by Jake’s coworkers congratulating them. Summer politely smiled as she thanked the familiar faces of the crew she had run into over the past few years. Hondo soon made his way over to them with Cyclone.
“Guess I’ll have to stop calling you Miss Hastings now, huh?” Hondo joked.
“Hondo, you’ve been around my entire life. Call me whatever you see fit.” Summer laughed and hugged him quickly.
“Whatever works for you, Mrs. Seresin.” He teased. “I’m gonna go say hi to your dad. I’ll see you in a bit.”
He stalked off, leaving the couple with Cyclone.
“Hangman,” He addressed Jake.
“Cyclone,” Jake gave him a tightlipped smile.
“Summer,” Cyclone addressed her.
“Cyclone.” She politely smiled.
“Congratulations. Didn’t think I’d be invited, truthfully.” He said to them.
“It would be unfair of me to ice you out because of my parents, Beau.” Summer said truthfully.
The man nodded before speaking again.
“Your parents are-”
“Still together, yes.” Summer nodded.
“Would it be weird if I talked to them?” He asked her. “I want to apologize to your dad.”
“Go for it. I don’t think Ghost’ll cause a scene.”
He nodded again before deciding to stalk off.
“Hey, Beau!” Summer called out to him.
“Yeah?” He turned back at her.
“I know dad misses having you around. It’ll be good to talk things through.” She told him.
The man smiled before making his way over to her parents.
“So Cyclone was in love with Emmeline?” Jake asked her.
“Yeah, but she chose my dad.” Summer said, watching her parents interact with their old friend.
“Oh my god, that could’ve been me if you met someone else.” Jake winced.
“Did you forget we just got married? I’m not going anywhere. Calm down.” She laughed.
“I hope you know I’m just gonna get more annoying now that I’m your husband.” He said.
“How so?” She asked.
“When you start teaching, send me your schedule so we can have lunch every day I’m free.” He proposed.
“Is that all?” She asked.
“Well, I’m not active right now, so I’ll be home often.” He said.
“How is that bad?” Summer asked.
“Okay, maybe not annoying for you, but definitely annoying for our neighbors,” Jake said.
“Oh, Jake. Oh my god,” Summer’s face flushed when she realized what he meant.
“It’ll be a lot of that.” He laughed.
“You’re a menace. Why did I marry you again?” She laughed.
“Because I’m good, Summer. I’m very good.” He spun her around in his arms, laughing.
“Right,” She rolled her eyes before kissing him.
He was.

Camilla The down to earth Duchess
Words by Juliet Rieden, Photography by The Duchess of Cambridge | Published 13 July 2022
It’s early afternoon on the first day of Platinum Jubilee celebrations in London and the Duchess of Cornwall has had a frenetic, thrilling and at times unexpected morning. Just a few hours ago she was seated with her stepdaughter-in-law Catherine and the rambunctious Cambridge trio – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – in a magnificent horse-drawn barouche, the royal children barely able to contain their excitement as they waved furiously at the tens of thousands lining the route from Buckingham Palace down The Mall. On horseback behind them were the husbands of these two future queen consorts, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge, resplendent in full military regalia.
In the week leading up to the event, the two duchesses had also been together, this time at Camilla’s private home, Ray Mill House in the rural county of Wiltshire, where Catherine turned photographer for our very special garden shoot. The Duchess of Cambridge’s prowess behind the lens is well documented in her many photos of her children, but this is the first time she’s taken an official portrait of her stepmother-in-law. In her royal life the Duchess of Cornwall has had to get used to being constantly photographed, but it’s not a comfortable place, so having Catherine take these birthday celebration photos is very welcome.
The bond between the two wives of Windsor is evident and the shots capture the Duchess off-duty and relaxed in one of her favourite places: her garden.
Back to today, and after the pageantry and crowds of the parade, all is calm in Clarence House’s elegant Morning Room, where the Duchess and I sit down for a wide-ranging and surprisingly personal interview. “I’m still in Trooping dress,” she apologises, looking down at her outfit, its striped pastel shades blending in with the soft blue of the famous room which was the Queen Mother’s favourite when she lived at Clarence House and which today is bathed in sunlight. “It’s lots of ribbons sewn together. Very clever. I can’t sew anything,” she chuckles. “I did mean to change into something more casual, but I thought I would keep everybody waiting.”
I first met the Duchess at Clarence House a decade ago. She was preparing for her inaugural visit to Australia with Prince Charles, and in advance of the tour I was invited to spend a week shadowing her. Since then I have continued to follow the Duchess as her royal work has burgeoned along with her profile, but this is the first time she has agreed to a private interview.
Casting her mind back to that first taste of Australia, Camilla smiles. “I think he [the Prince of Wales] always wanted to take me there and show me what it was like. He was proved absolutely right. I love Australia,” she declares.
Prince Charles’ unique connection with this country began when he was 17 and went to school at Geelong Grammar, his first major visit overseas and a chance to escape the royal bubble at a very formative time for the young heir apparent. “He’s always spoken about it, his time at Timbertop, which he said was pretty hard but he loved it. Probably after Gordonstoun [the Prince’s school in Scotland known for its “character building” regime and where he was bullied by some of the boys], it was light relief to go to Timbertop. He said everybody was very kind and easygoing and I think it toughened him up.”
The Duchess says that, like her husband, she appreciated what she affectionately calls the “take it or leave it” spirit of Australians. “I like that everybody’s down to earth and they say what they think. I’d much rather people were out there saying what they think than beating round the bush, telling you a lot of porkies. And I like the Australian humour. You have a jolly good laugh with them. I just think it’s a lovely country. This year we were ready to go back again, but we just couldn’t fit it into the Jubilee schedules. But we’ll be back soon, I hope.”

In the meantime, the couple closely follows what is going on in Australia, and during the Black Summer bushfires in 2019, GIVIT charity CEO Juliette Wright OAM was blindsided when out of the blue she received a message from the Duchess’ team. “I was giddy with excitement,” confesses Juliette. “The Duchess was devastated by what she was witnessing on the television, her heart was going out to people affected by the bushfires, and she said she would like to give a personal donation to support an animal charity and also a charity that’s helping people on the road to recovery.”
In the interests of raising awareness, the Duchess allowed GIVIT to mention her support on social media. The response was immediate – a 46 per cent increase in traffic to the website. “I’ve never seen such a spike in donations. It was like she created a cyclone of giving just by her act of generosity, so more donations were flowing to those in urgent need,” says Juliette who, seizing the day, asked if the Duchess would become their patron. “They came back a day later and said she would be honoured.”

Queen Consort
The Duchess celebrates her 75th birthday on July 17 – a milestone not least because, at a time when most of her peers are kicking back and smelling the roses, she is preparing for the biggest job of her life. When the Queen used her February Platinum Jubilee message to express her “sincere wish” for Camilla to be known as Queen Consort “when my son Charles becomes king”, she rubberstamped the monarchy’s future and her daughter-in-law’s title. Public opinion, which had vacillated on the topic, noticeably shifted. While Camilla has never sought the limelight, her quiet and dedicated service was there for all to see. She would be our next Queen.
“Obviously it’s a great honour and I was deeply touched for Her Majesty to have given me this role,” says Camilla, who as Consort will be following in the footsteps of the late Duke of Edinburgh. It was the Duke, she says, to whom she often turned for counsel while learning the royal ropes. “The Duke of Edinburgh was always a very good ear. He was a role model to me and a very good person to take advice from because he always told me what he thought, which was very helpful, especially with things about the army because I took over the Rifles [regiment] from him.
Tumblr media
“He was always two steps behind the Queen, which for a man must be much more difficult than for a woman – and somebody as macho as he was, who’d commanded ships. So I think [from the Duke] I learned that your place is several feet behind the monarch. You’re there as a back-up.”
It’s a role she could never have imagined when growing up in rural England playing with her ponies. But I suspect it’s that practical, carefree country childhood which gave Camilla the stable basis to cope with the roller-coaster of royal life in the spotlight.
“I was one of the very lucky ones. I had the idyllic childhood right in the country, sitting on the South Downs with my brother and my sister and our pets and our ponies. I think it was a very simple childhood,” she says, casting her mind back. “Sometimes in the summer we used to ride to school on our ponies, probably something that’s more Australian than English, but we used to ride and then tie them up and ride back again. It just shows how things have changed, because in those days there was nothing on the roads. Can you imagine now letting a child ride to school with its satchel on its back? I mean it wouldn’t happen,” she laughs.
Young Camilla Shand was nine years old and in heaven. “It didn’t happen very often, but when it did it was lovely. We just pottered along this very pretty road with two or three cars going past. Life was very laid-back. The awful thing is, I suppose I thought life was always going to be like that … It certainly gave us all a very good grounding, because we could start off with a smile on our face. As far as I remember it was perfect.”
Camilla was the eldest of three and she, Annabel and Mark were a tight-knit unit. “I never took the lead very much, we just did things together. My brother had a very bad temper and was quite spoiled sometimes, but it was very evenly shared out.”
Life lessons
Their mother was the glamorous and well-connected Rosalind Shand (née Cubitt), who hailed from a wealthy aristocratic family and was ‘Debutante of the Year’ in 1939. Camilla was very close to her and says the greatest lesson she taught her children was the art of small talk, something that certainly prepared her for royal life.
“My mother was absolutely brilliant at making us speak to people,” the Duchess recalls. “She used to have people to dinner; it didn’t matter who it was, old or young, some of them we thought were incredibly boring, but she used to sit at the end of the table and say: ‘Talk! I don’t care whether you’re talking about your pony or your homework, just talk!’ She was also quite forthright and never minced her words.”
Putting people at ease in formal situations is now part of her daily work and something the naturally gregarious Duchess enjoys, but she notes that taking the lectern for speeches – which she is called to do with increasing regularity – is torture. “I get petrified making speeches,” she says. “I hate every moment of it. People always say it’ll get better and sometimes I find it’s all right if I really know my subject, but sometimes [I get] that awful thing beforehand of really shaking and feeling seriously sick.
Tumblr media
“The first speech I ever made was about osteoporosis in Lisbon, before I was married, and the night before I was out of bed tying my sheets together to see if I could escape and go home. I’m never going to enjoy it.
“My husband is very good; he loves it. Because he’s a very good actor, I think. You’ve got to have a bit of acting experience. I was the worst actor in the whole school. If I was given one line to say, it always came out backwards. So I think speeches – no, they’re never going to be my favourite things.”
Camilla’s father, Major Bruce Shand, was a dashing officer in the British Army who was captured by the Nazis in World War II. He married in 1946 and left the army in 1947, but growing up Camilla knew very little about his war years. Then decades later he started to open up to his grandchildren.
Tumblr media
“We couldn’t get him to talk about it. Yet when my children [son Tom and daughter Laura] and my sister’s children came along, especially the boys, he started to,” she says. “He was captured at El Alamein and was very lucky, really, because he was shot. He was in an armoured car, about 100 yards from Rommel’s encampment, when my father opened his mouth to shout a command at his wireless operator and the bullet came zinging from the German, went through one side of his cheek, out the other and killed his wireless operator. It was extraordinary because it missed all his vital organs, his tongue, his teeth, but obviously his face was blown to pieces. Then a second bullet got him through the leg.”
Major Shand was held captive. “He remembered Rommel in his greatcoat walking off and climbing aboard a tiny aeroplane. That was probably the last time he was seen!” As an injured prisoner of war, Camilla’s father was taken to a hospital in Greece, where “there was the most brilliant plastic surgeon. Nobody had ever sewn up anybody from the inside [of their mouth] before. You would have never known my father had anything wrong. Afterwards he was shipped back from Greece to Spangenberg Castle in Germany, where he was a prisoner for two and a half years.”
The Major, who died in 2006, a year after Camilla married Prince Charles, would undoubtedly have loved to have seen his daughter playing such a key role in the Trooping the Colour parade. “He’d be so pleased knowing that I was Colonel-in-Chief of the Rifles now. I don’t think anything would have made him more proud,” she adds wistfully.
Losing Rosalind
Camilla’s mother didn’t live long enough to see her daughter marry into the monarchy. She died “far too young” in 1994 at the age of 72 following a long battle with osteoporosis.
“She was in her mid-60s when she got it,” says the Duchess. “Nobody in those days knew anything about osteoporosis. So when she suddenly used to scream, which she did if somebody touched her, we thought, ‘Why is she making such a fuss about this? It can’t be that painful.’ She was a strong woman, capable of anything, but she shrank and she shrank and she started bending over like a croquet hoop. It affects your stomach and lungs, so her breathing became very bad. She couldn’t eat much food and was in agony the whole time.
“We were at such a loss to know how to help. She used to go to the doctor who would say, ‘There, there, you’re old and frail, all old people get the dowager’s hump, that’s what happens!’. She gave up in the end. She was a wonderful gardener, but she couldn’t garden, she couldn’t do anything at all.”
The pain of losing her mother to this cruel but preventable disease is with Camilla every day. “It was terrible, because we felt so helpless,” she adds.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That experience inspired her 21 years ago to become President of the Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS). Increasing bone strength is crucial, she says, to preventing the onset of osteoporosis, and one of the latest initiatives she can’t get enough of is the Silver Swans, a dance class for over-55s launched by the UK’s Royal Academy of Dance, whose president is ballerina Darcey Bussell, and Camilla is now the Academy’s Vice Patron.
The Duchess tells me she will never forget the first time she saw some “Swans” in action. “They were taking me around [the Academy] and said, ‘We’ve got a Silver Swans class.’ I said, ‘What’s that?’ ‘It’s ballet for people getting on.’ I said, ‘You must be joking’ and thought to myself, ‘Oh dear, we’re going to have to sit through a lot of very old people crashing about all over the place. I don’t know how I’m going to keep a straight face.’ I went in with my teeth gritted, biting my lip, mustn’t laugh – but some of these people, I couldn’t believe my eyes.”
Camilla was so impressed she decided to join. “I said to the dance teacher, ‘Would you ever take a private class? I’ve got a few friends who’d be very interested.’ So she comes here when I’m in London and we crash about very happily and it’s great fun.
It’s jolly hard work – you get really involved and I find it’s a really good way to exercise.”
The Duchess’ support of the program has had a huge impact, Darcey tells me. “She’s very happy to talk about her own experience. She’s very funny, too. When we had the opening of the new headquarters of the Royal Academy of Dance recently, she came into a class of Silver Swans. There were men there as well, some in their 80s, and she was like, ‘Oh gosh, they’re much better than me’, and I suddenly saw her competitive spirit coming through.”
I ask the Duchess if she has managed to recruit her husband yet. She shakes her head, laughing. “He’s a very good dancer and loves ballet, but I’m not sure how good he’d be on his tippy-toes.”
As a young girl the Duchess had lots of dance lessons but never ballet. “At school we had once-a-week dancing, rather like Strictly [Strictly Come Dancing, Britain’s version of reality TV show Dancing with the Stars]. We learned the waltz and the quickstep, the cha-cha-cha and the Charleston, but I was always the boy so I always pushed people around the floor. Even now I find it quite difficult going the other way.”
Strictly is one of the Duchess’ favourite TV shows and also – apparently – a hit with Her Majesty. “I love seeing people who can’t dance at all. They arrive with no sense of rhythm, and then you see them progress and they end up as professional dancers.”
The Duchess has now developed a friendly bond with Aussie dancer and Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood. The unlikely couple met in 2008 working on a “Boogie for your bones” campaign for the ROS. Camilla came to an event and they ended up on the dance floor together.
“I thought she was going to be terribly posh and aloof,” says Craig. “But actually she was so down to earth, so full of beans, such a great dancer and totally up for all of it. I never thought for one moment we would ever get into holds and start doing a cha-cha-cha in front of everybody, but we did! My family was sitting around the six o’clock news at home in Ballarat, Victoria and then suddenly I came on dancing with the future Queen of England!”
Over the years Craig has been a regular at royal functions and says the Duchess and Prince Charles are a fantastic couple. “They have a laugh, and they care about people,” he shares. “I think it’s taken people time to get used to the fact that they are together, but their relationship has really shone and that’s what people pick up on.”
Darcey Bussell agrees with that. “Obviously there were tough times with Diana and that whole transition, but marrying Charles and realising what a bond they have and a force of positive strength [they are] together, I think that has really resonated with the public.”
Tumblr media
Finding her voice
In her royal work Camilla talks to strangers from every walk of life, and while she is naturally a shy person, her ability to connect with those she meets, no matter their background or circumstances, has become her secret weapon. It’s something Jude Kelly, CEO of the Women of the World Foundation, has watched unfold. “The Duchess has a clear sense that she has a powerful voice and she wants to use it for people who don’t have a powerful voice. She’s chosen to use it for women who are dealing with horrendous levels of violence.”
Tumblr media
This work has become a significant focus for Camilla, who will never forget the moment that sparked her involvement. “It was when I first went to a meeting of SafeLives – in 2016 – of which I’m now patron. It was unbelievable. We all sat around in a circle and six women told their stories. I remember sitting opposite this woman who was about my age and she wasn’t talking, but her daughter’s friend got up to talk and I watched this woman’s face, which was tragic, and I knew something awful was going to come out. Her friend told the story of Jo, who was married to a British Airways pilot, very wealthy, they lived in the middle of Ascot, two children, and he’d been abusing her. Eventually the police came in, he had a restraining order and he wasn’t supposed to visit her.
Tumblr media
“For some reason he was allowed to see the two children, so he took them out for the day and instead of dropping them where he was supposed to, he brought the children back into the house, took out a cleft hammer and beat his wife to death. Fourteen blows on the head, with the children in the next room.
“We all sat there in complete and utter silence. Nobody could breathe, desperately fighting back tears. It shocked me so much. I watched this woman, who was my generation, aged 70, and was going to have to bring up her grandchildren because her daughter was dead and that father was in prison.”
The Duchess knew she had to act, and while the SafeLives charity is a long way from usual royal patronages, issues of domestic violence, rape and coercive control have become a calling. “I think they were very surprised. But it’s just something that gripped me. I couldn’t just let it go. At least I can try to do something that might help others by standing and shouting about it.”
Away from her public life, Camilla’s favourite role is grandmother. “I’ve just said goodbye to several [of the grandchildren] who’ve been staying here for Trooping. That’s the best role there is,” she says, beaming. “The girls are becoming teenagers, which is a bit of a worry. I’d quite like to put a lid on their heads and make them small again because they’re all sweet and scrubbed and nice. Now they’re quite keen to have a good argument!
“They’re just fun to be with. I love being with them, eating together, going to see a film or a play. They’re great enthusiasts. And it’s always nice to be in touch with that generation because it keeps you abreast of young people’s feelings and ideas. It also makes me think how much has changed between their childhood and my childhood. Things are so different. The idea of us having these phones full of games and everything else they can do with them, and then they seem to get on aeroplanes and go here, there and everywhere. We hardly knew what an aeroplane was. I think it’s a much more difficult world that they’re growing up in than the world I grew up in.”
If Camilla has wisdom to impart it would be, “Be yourselves. Just do what you think is right, but if you’re worried in any way about it, take advice from somebody older and wiser because I think young people can help old people. That’s why we get on so well. We’re different ends of the spectrum. They can learn a lot from us, but we also can learn a hell of a lot from them. I remember I always went to my grandmother to get advice, so I rather hope they might come to me.”
And finally to 75, a number Camilla is not celebrating. “Nobody particularly wants to be 75, but I can’t do much about it. I think you’ve just got to get on with life and make the most of what you’ve got left.”

Bonfire Night
Pairings: Nancy x Robin
Warnings: Coping with trauma, talking about it
Summary: Robin and Nancy decide to stick together to try and cope
Tumblr media
It was a month after the Upside Down, and Robin and Nancy were getting closer. The duo of Robin and Steve were still there but sometimes Nancy would join, making them a trio. Nancy didn’t want to disrupt the relationship between the two however, plus she much preferred Robin, her new best friend. Robin also took delight in being with Nancy, having a crush on her since after Scoops Ahoy.
Currently however, both girls were at the Wheeler’s house, Ted and Karen out of the house at a restaurant with her sister and Mike was at Will’s house after finally confessing his feelings. Robin had come over after she saw Nancy in ‘Family Video’ that morning and was asked to come over. They were burning old papers and were just chatting about random stuff. Robin even brought over some weed for the both of them. Usually Nancy wouldn’t have agreed but it was a different occasion and also it was the weekend. Robin was leaned back on the bench, Nancy sitting next to her and leaned forward. Nancy had on some sweatpants and a random pink hoodie she owned. Robin meanwhile was in a pair of Steve’s jeans and also his old Hawkin’s varsity jacket. “So… any romantic interests?” Nancy asked, both girls high together after finishing their joints.
“Nope,” she spoke. “Well… yes, but not anyone I can pursue. They’re way out of my league,” she added, not wanting to come out to Nancy just yet.
“Oh? And who must they be?” she responded, raising an eyebrow at Robin. Robin bit her lip hard as she was thinking.
“They… are someone,” she answered.
“Is it a girl?” Nancy suddenly asked. “Sorry, I’m just curious because I see you stare at girls a lot. Plus Barb accidentally mentioned your crush on Tammy,” Nancy spoke to reassure Robin. Robin blinked before she smiled and was thinking to try and not out that it was Nancy.
“Well, she is super smart. She has a good music taste, a good family and also super private but that causes her to be mysterious,” she spoke. Nancy smirked and was nodding.
“If it helps, I also like girls too, and boys,” Nancy spoke. Robin smiled.
“Just girls for me,” she reassured. Nancy nodded with a grin. They sat in silence for a bit longer as they were just comfortable being in each others space. Eventually Nancy stretched and got up. “Want to make some food and then stay over and sleep?” Nancy asked, taking note that both of them hadn’t eaten yet. Robin stood up quickly, nodding.
“I make some good spaghetti if you want that?” Robin asked, a cocky smirk on her lips. Nancy quirked an eyebrow, as if to challenge that claim. “Sure, why not,” Nancy answered, letting Robin have her way in the kitchen once in there. She proceeded to smirk before grabbing all the ingredients while Nancy went to get them cans of coke the she had stashed in her room because Mike kept stealing them. Robin was actually good in the kitchen considering she had a bad balance as well as failure to do some things. Nancy was thoroughly surprised before she smiled and was watching the girl. Her heart beat faster as she had a crush on her since she first saw her at Scoops Ahoy. Robin was soon done with the sauce as she was now putting the pasta in to cook it finally before she was taking a sip of her Coke.
“Surprised?” Robin asked. Nancy had wide eyes before she was nodding and smirked.
“It’s surprising considering you tripped over air in assembly today,” Nancy explained, Robin flushing bright red.
“Fuck you,” was her response, causing Nancy to laugh and lean back. Robin stepped closer to the smaller girl as Nancy was shaking her head. “It was to make an impression,” was what she lied about.
“Yeah, sure Robbie, sure,” Nancy smirked out, causing Robin to suddenly pin her arms up to surprise her. Nancy meanwhile got flustered, and stared at  her lips by accident. Robin took notice, realising the position. She opened her mouth, about to apologise when she was surprised by the feeling of soft lips. She blinked, before she was starting to kiss back, closing her eyes as she was holding the other girl. She was holding her even closer as they kissed harder.
Eventually they pulled away, Robin quick to plate everything up, wondering if she should talk to Nancy about it. Nancy was in the lead however. “Was you serious with the kiss?” Nancy asked. Robin was nodding.
“I… have had a crush on you since Scoops Ahoy,” Robin admitted.
“You was cute in that outfit,” Nancy did state as plates were soon on the table.
“Shame it has bad memories,” Robin hummed out. “So… are we girlfriend and girlfriend?” she asked, raising an eyebrow. Nancy just grinned.
“Yes. I’ll get more kisses from you then,” Nancy reasoned out, Robin genuinely excited. Nancy took a bite of the food, widening her eyes at the taste.
“You are cooking from now on,” was all Nancy said before she was eating more. Robin just smirked and nodded.
“I’m appy with that,” Robin teased.

Pairings: Tetsuo x Kaori/ Kaneda x Kei
Characters: Kaneda Shotaro, Kei, Kai, Mizuki, The Capsules, and Others
Summary: Conversations no one can hear or know except Tetsuo and Kaori
Genre: Fluff and Sweetness
Everyone was hanging out, but instead of hanging out at Kaneda’s place. They all decided it’ll be nice to go somewhere fun out in Tokyo, with not many people or crowds.
It took a lot of convincing and using Kaori to get Tetsuo to agree to the idea. He knew being holed up in a house for so long can be boring and suffocating.
And Tetsuo doesn’t like wearing his Kabuki mask for to long, it can be hard to breathe in it sometimes. Because it seems like they’ll be out longer than he wanted.
But he reminds himself to do it for her, because she deserves a different scenery every now and again.
They all got dressed and the guys rode to there destination.
“So where is this place you’re trying to take us to Kaneda?” Kai asked.
“You’ll see.” Kaneda smirked, leading the bikers. They finally made it and everyone looked up at the sign.
It was an outdoors onsen, one of the most popular ones.
“An onsen?” Tetsuo looked at Kaneda under his hood.
“Yeah, Kei and I one these awesome onsen tickets, at an event we went to. Also with great food mind you.” Kaneda grinned.
“I thought we needed to be somewhere with less people?” Mizuki added.
“It is, these are tickets for a private booking! So it’s just us.” Kei said excitedly, because now she has a girlfriend to join her, along with certain girls as plus one that were dating one of the gangs. To cover the other tickets
In the middle of the conversation Kaori chuckled out of no where. Causing stares, she noticed and then fixed herself. Tetsuo turned his head trying not to laugh.
“What’s so funny, I wanna laugh too?” Mizuki asked.
“Nothing.” Tetsuo answered, before everyone shrugged it off and continued inside.
“What if the Owner sees… You know.” Kai whispered in Kaneda’s ear pointing behind them at Tetsuo.
“Don’t worry man The Ow-“
“Welcome To Momo’s Onsen! My name is Juju Gezumi I am the owner of this onsen, and I hope you enjoy your stay.” The owner smiled at them, they all realized that-
“He’s blind, The Owners blind Kai. So he won’t see Tetsuo. Thank you Mr. Gezumi, we most certainly will.” All of them entered.
Everyone had a designated room, it was traditional but very nice and elegant. The food would arrive once everyone was out of the onsen.
As everyone was settling there stuff down. Kaneda and Tetsuo’s room was side by side, as he heard giggling and laughing from Tetsuo’s room with Kaori.
“What the hell are they laughing at!?” Kaneda was about to check, before Kei stopped him.
“Leave them alone.”
“It’s not like I’m doing anything, I’m just curious of what’s so funny. I don’t even hear them talking, it’s just laughing.”
“Haha, why does it concern you so much. Let them enjoy each other’s company, they deserve it you know. Just like us.” Kei walked two fingers up Kaneda’s arm on his shoulder. Eventually wrapping her arms around his neck.
Pulling him into a kiss, Kaneda hugging her waist. Bringing her closer to deepen the kiss. The kids felt long but was quick.
Kaneda, Kei, Tetsuo, and Kaori were doing a couples onsen. So they four was in the same one, Kaori was very skeptical. She wanted to join but her insecurities were knocking at her door.
The towel was covering her body, Tetsuo came behind her, “Need some help?” He whispered in her ear, with a devious tone in it.
“N-No I-I’m, F-FINEEEEE!” Kaori dragged the last word, as Tetsuo pushed her into the onsen. Before he hopped in, she popped up trying to catch her breath.
Kaneda and Kei came out after, and joined them. They didn’t notice that they were arguing telepathically.
Kei sighed in relief, “This is so niceee.”
Kaori nodded in agreeance, before dipping lower. To the point only half her head showed.
The trio began having a conversation about the place and soon other things. Kaori was still not the social butterfly, so she just listened peacefully.
Then she slightly perked up, turning her attention to Tetsuo. Who quickly side eye her with a smirk, and looked away.
He was talking to her telepathically while he’s verbally talking to the other two.
Tetsuo was trying to think of something that would really get his girlfriend in a fit of laughter. Then it hit him, he waited for the perfect moment
It went into a comfortable silence for a minute. Then all of a sudden Kaori burst into a fit of laughter, to the point she even began snorting. Covering her mouth trying to restrain her laugh, she cried so hard till she had tears.
Tetsuo ended up cracking up, Kaneda and Kei looked at them in shock. Kei slightly smiled, she thought Kaori’s snort was adorable.
“You guys been laughing non-stop. Can you like fucking tell us what it is!?” Kaneda was frustrated being left out of the joke.
“It’s an inside joke you wouldn’t understand.” Tetsuo smirked, as Kaori was calming down. She started laughing again.
“T-T-Tetsuo… S-S-STOP I-It! I-I can’t… breathe.” Kaori face was red, she got of the onsen going back to there room.
“Oh how cute you think it’s funny talking shit with your powers.” Kaneda glared at him.
“Yes. Yes I do.” Tetsuo grinned wider, he eventually got out and joined his girlfriend. Kaneda was glaring daggers in his back.
“Man he is so fucking annoying.” Kaneda folded his arms. It was Kei turn to get up.
“Ha! Now you know what it’s like to live with you.” Making all three of them laugh. Kaneda rolled his eyes, hoping out as well.
“You gonna regret making fun of me!”
In the end, everyone enjoyed themselves at the onsen, and the food was exquisite.

Talk to Me (A Rooster FanFic) Chapter 4
Tumblr media
Ella’s fingers nervously drummed on her thighs as she sat silently in the passenger seat of Bradley’s Bronco while he drove them to the Kazansky house.  After Pete had talked to Tom, he insisted on meeting Ella right away.  Bradley had offered to go with her and she couldn’t refuse him.
“Talk to me,” Bradley said as he linked the fingers of his right hand with the fingers of her left hand.
“He’s dying, Bradley,” she whispered.  “I just found him, and he’s dying.”
“I know, baby,” he replied as he steered the Bronco down the street leading to her father’s house.  “That’s why you need to take advantage of every minute you can get with him.”
Ella sniffed quietly while she nodded her head.  Bradley’s thumb traced a soothing pattern on the back of her hand.  Within minutes, they were pulling to a stop in front of a beautiful home.  Pete and Penny were waiting next to his motorcycle as she and Bradley got out of the Bronco.  Penny immediately wrapped Ella in a warm embrace.
“You okay?” she asked.  Ella nodded, but was stopped from saying anything when the front door was opened.  A woman with golden brown hair stood in the doorway with tears in her eyes.
“Oh my god,” she breathed out.  “You look so much like him.”
Ella moved towards her.  “You must be Sarah.”
“We are so excited to meet you, Ella,” Sarah said as she brought Ella into her arms.  Ella blinked back tears as she returned Sarah’s embrace.  The older woman pulled back slightly and framed Ella’s face with her hands.
“He’s in his office.  I know Pete filled you in, but talking is really hard for him.  He’ll use the computer to communicate mostly.  He’s probably going to be emotional, so just be prepared for some tears,” Sarah said.  Ella could only nod her head in understanding before turning to face the trio behind her.  Pete gave her an encouraging smile, Penny winked at her, and Bradley reached forward to grasp her hand and squeeze it gently.  Ella returned his gesture before following Sarah to the office.
“Honey, Ella is here,” Sarah said before motioning for Ella to enter the room.  Tom Kazansky sat in his office chair facing her.  The man in front of her looked frail and not at all like the pictures Pete had shown her from his younger days.  A sheen of tears filled her eyes when she noticed he also had tears in his eyes.
“Hi,” Ella whispered.  He nodded at her before motioning towards the chair to his left.  Ella sat next to him and they just stared at each other for a few moments before he turned to type on the keyboard.
“You’re beautiful.”
“Thank you,” Ella laughed slightly.  “Everyone says I look like you.”
Tom chuckled quietly before leaning over to type again.
“I see your mom in you as well.”
“I guess so,” Ella replied.  “Aren’t you mad at her for never telling you?”
“No.  Life’s too short to be angry, Ella.  I hate that I missed out on your life, but I’m so glad I got to meet you.”
Ella could only nod her head as she reached up to wipe away the tears that were falling down her cheeks.
“You’ve never going to be alone,” Tom typed.  “You have family–Sarah, the kids, Pete, Penny, and Rooster.”
“I know.  That was something I worried about when Mom passed.  I’m not sure how I feel about her keeping you from me, but I’m glad I’ve gotten to meet you.  I just wish we had more time,” Ella said.
“I wish we did too.  We need to make the most of the time we have now.”
“I agree,” Ella said with a smile.
“Talk to me about Rooster.”
______________________________________________________________________
After nearly an hour, Ella emerged from her dad’s office with a smile on her face.  Pete, Penny, Sarah, and Bradley all rose to their feet from where they had been sitting in the living room.  Bradley immediately moved to wrap his arms around her.
“You okay?” he whispered against her ear.  She nodded in reply.
“He wants to talk to you,” she said quietly.
“Okay,” Bradley said before pressing a kiss to her forehead.  He moved away from her towards the study.
“Sir,” Bradley said as he closed the door behind him.  Tom motioned for him to sit in the seat Ella had been sitting in earlier.  Once he was seated, he took a moment to study the man in front of him.  He’d known Tom Kazansky since he was a kid.  He’d always been strong, formidable, and one of the best pilots in the Navy.  To see him weak and frail caused Bradley to choke up momentarily.  Tom leaned over to type on his keyboard.
“My daughter loves you very much.”
“I know, sir.  I love her very much too,” Bradley replied.
“She told me what happened between the two of you.  You forgave her pretty easily.”
“As much as what she did hurt, I’ve always known she was who I was supposed to spend my life with.  I couldn’t let her get away again, sir,” Bradley explained.
“So you plan to marry her?”
“Yes, sir.  It would really mean a lot to me to have your blessing.  I think it would mean a lot to Ella too,” Bradley said.
“You have it, Rooster.  Just promise me one thing.”
“Anything,” Bradley said, leaning forward slightly when he noticed tears in the man’s eyes.
“Take care of our girl.”
“I promise you, sir, that I will take care of her for the rest of her life,” Bradley said as tears filled his eyes.  Tom nodded before standing.  Bradley rose to his feet as well and was surprised when the older man pulled him into his arms.
“You are so much like your dad,” Tom rasped.
“Thank you, sir,” Bradley said quietly.  Tom motioned for him to move towards the office door.  Once they were in the living room, Sarah mentioned that Ella had gone outside to play with the kids.  Bradley nodded before going out to join her.
“Hey you,” he said as he came to stand beside her.  She was watching her siblings play a game of soccer in the backyard.
“Hey, how’d it go?” she asked as she linked her arm with his.
“It was good,” he replied before leaning down to kiss the top of her head.  Ella turned to rest her chin on his bicep and stare up into his dark hazel eyes.
“I love you,” she whispered.
“I love you too,” he replied before kissing her forehead.
“Thank you for being here with me today,” Ella said.
“I wouldn’t have been anywhere else,” Bradley replied, looking into her eyes.
“He doesn’t have long,” Ella whispered.
“I know,” he whispered back.

“this is a one time thing.” for Tommi/Joonas
Changed the sentence slightly, hope that’s okay.
“That was fun, wasn’t it?” Joonas asked as they walked along the street in their hometown. They were on their way to Joonas’ old home, streetlights illuminating the otherwise dark street they were on, no one except them daring to take a walk during this hour when the cold wind was whipping past them. “Can you believe Emma and Eetu have married, and I wasn’t invited? I’m immediately crossing them from my own wedding list.”
Tommi was silent next to him, but Joonas was content to babble about their evening, the first class reunion of theirs past them, and it really had been fun to see all the faces again and exchange stories although Joonas had to admit that some of these people had gotten extremely boring.
Sure, not everyone could lead a rockstar life and Joonas couldn’t say they were 100% there yet, but he would definitely not change his life with that of any of his classmates.
Just like now Tommi hadn’t talked much during the little party, keeping to the few old friends they had found, giving some of his best jokes but otherwise keeping silent or not handing out many details about his life, finding his way back to Joonas’ side often throughout the evening.
Picking the key out of his bag, Joonas tried to open the front door as quietly as possible, his parents most likely being in bed already.
Just like he thought the house was dark and silent, and together Tommi and he ascended the stairs to the upper floor on light feet, Joonas still aware of which steps were creaking loudly from his numerous escape stunts.
“Come on in, into my lovely abode.” Joonas held the door to his room open for Tommi, doing a little bow when Tommi walked past him with a shake of his head.
Sadly Olli couldn’t make it today so they couldn’t form their complete trio, but still Tommi and he could have a nice relive of teenage days, sleeping over at the other’s house, staying up late.
Getting upright again, Joonas felt a little light-headed. One beer too many perhaps, but nonetheless he quickly followed Tommi inside, putting on the lights, some of the fairy lights flickering faintly and only giving off a dimmed glow from old batteries.
But it was cozy nevertheless and Joonas loved to be back, not nearly often enough up here with his family, getting lost in old memories.
Just now it felt like a time capsule with nothing much having changed in his childhood room, Tommi a familiar visitor as they were about to arrange the mattress and additional blankets on the floor. In the past they would have lit a single flashlight and told stories to each other, Tommi knowing the creepiest ones and always scaring Olli, sometimes so much he had to crawl into Joonas’ bed. And then they would try to stifle their laughs so Joonas’ parents wouldn’t come looking.
Joonas would love to repeat all this, but the thought of it alone already managed to put a smile on his face.
It was abruptly falling off and replaced with a surprised expression when Tommi pushed him against the nearest wall and captured his lips in an intense kiss, almost bruising, lips challenging him, making it hard to keep up, especially as Joonas’ brain hadn’t yet processed what was happening exactly.
The poster under his head had most certainly ripped and was now sporting a tear across it, but Joonas couldn’t bother with it right now when Tommi was fervently kissing him. A hand was on his neck with the thumb digging under his jaw, tilting his head up to receive Tommi’s rough treatment.
“Tommi…Tommi.” Joonas managed to whisper between kisses, air threatening to go out. “What are we doing?”
First Tommi didn’t look like he would stop, keeping Joonas pressed against the wall, his bigger body blocking Joonas and stopping him from escaping, but then he brought the smallest of space between them. Although Joonas noticed the lack of weight against him immediately and had to admit he was missing it at once.
Nonetheless, Joonas may not always be known to be the holder of the brain cell, but this situation was prone to blow up into their faces if not handled correctly.
“Tell me what you are thinking?” Joonas tried again, needing something from Tommi, so he didn’t come to wrong conclusions.
“Fuck.” Tommi’s head came to rest on Joonas’, and he closed his eyes at the familiar proximity. “All those couple stories must have twisted my mind.”
“It’s okay.” Joonas assured him. “I- I didn’t not like it.”
Tommi’s gaze shifted to his eyes, vulnerability showing, and Joonas put a hand to his cheek, stroking the stubbly skin, last he wanted was to scare Tommi away now.
“This can be one-time thing.” Tommi suggested and pressed closer again, his need obvious against Joonas and he gasped lightly, eyelids dropping as arousal took over him.
He wasn’t sure what the right thing to do was, all Joonas knew was that he didn’t want to stop right now, didn’t want Tommi’s warmth to leave him, wanted his mouth on him again. It was a sudden realization, the feelings never having been there before in regard to Tommi, but now they were so obviously clear that Joonas wanted to bump his head on the wall behind him, scolding himself.
“It doesn’t have to be.” Joonas said quietly, admittedly a little bit afraid that that was all Tommi wanted out of it, seeing a quick and easy fling in Joonas and nothing more.
Tommi’s face came as close that their lips were brushing against each other, noses bumping and breath mingling. “I just want you, is that okay?”
Joonas nodded and promptly had Tommi’s lips on his again, the passion from before back in an instant, and Joonas switched his brain off, letting himself fall in Tommi’s arms.
