Since anons are putting diffirent types of animals for the baor!creator, what if theres like a snake!creator? I kinda thinking of Baizhu white snake(what was her name again?) and the one who find them is Zhongli, well more like Snake!creator found him instead, this how I was thinking they met.
Zhongli just sipping some tea right? enjoying the sunlight and the chitter or Liyue habor, then suddenly theres smiley/squsiy texture slither around his leg(he panics cuz I heard he hates slimey texture? smt along those lines ig), he looks down and see, a spotless and shiny ass snake slithering around his leg, they made eye contact, but the snake only continues slithering, Zhongli face is disgusted since well, slimey, but he was gentle when removing the snake and helding it face to face, they both held eye contact, before, the snake lick his nose, and Zhongli's thoughts after the action 'holy shit that was adorable' after that, you can always see Zhongli with a snake slithering around his arms, and shoulders
MEME:
Zhongli: 'I only have this snake for 5 mintues'
Zhongli: 'If anything happens to them, I kill everyone in this Habor and then myself'
Her name (Baizhu’s snake) is Changsheng! And I love big snakes so… Reticulated python! The larges recorded was 32 ft and 9 1/2 in (9 m and 98.22 cm)! Itto is about 6 ft 4 in (1 m and 93.04 cm), so a Reticulated python is around 9 and 9/10 Itto’s ໒꒰ྀི´ ˘ ` ꒱ྀིა!
Hearing screams and feeling something running across his leg was not how Zhongli wanted to spend his time.
The way this man was considering just spearing the damn thing beneath his was… it was honestly scary. Children ran from the sight of his glare.
Whatever it was it was long. And slimy. And it moved his pants legs up so he could feel it on his skin.
Not fun.
He finally had enough and looked underneath the table, grabbing what he held thought to be the head.
And he did grab the head!
It required both hands, however.
Because what he pulled up was probably one of the largest non magical snakes he had ever seen in his life. And he’s lived a long ass time mind you.
His first genuine thought was ‘Changsheng’s cousin?’ And then he realized how dumb that sounded.
And then you licked his nose.
New best friend.
You couldn’t.. wrap around him. But you followed him. Closely. People of the Harbor honestly thought it fit Zhongli to have a regal snake following him as a companion. He was slick and snake like, after all.
Despite your… largeness however, Zhongli did like it whenever you wrapped around him to the best of your abilities. It was nice to feel the squeeze of a fellow reptilian.
When he found out that for some reason you could stomach human foods and liquids? Oh you know this man was on top of having you try out different teas and seeing if you tell the difference.
And when Hu Tao met you? You became the scarf of her as well. She loves patting your head and tries her damndest to get to understand the importance of selling coffins and getting people into them.
Seeing you preform tasks for the Funeral Parlor isn’t unusual, but the one place you can’t go is the Bubu Pharmacy. You and Changsheng fucking hate each other.
Snakes are super territorial after all.
She’s not allowed around Hu Tao or Zhongli, you’re not allowed around Baizhu or Qiqi.
Fair is fair but you really wanted to meet Qiqi and Baizhu.
Xiao has mixed feelings about you. On the one hand: Yay! Zhongli is happy! On the other: Zhongli is getting softer and softer damn-
That all changed when you wrapped around him.
Now the Adeptus protect you.
The way you would swallow a mob or thief in front of them and they’d just stare because you technically just committed murder.
Yeah, your everyone’s - minus Baizhu and Qiqi - new best friend.
Sorry if this is bad, I didn’t much know what to do… I feel bad- Anyway, I do hope you enjoyed it though ૮꒰ྀི∩´ ᵕ `∩꒱ྀིა!

hey, are you listening? — part 08
pairing : college au!xiao x f!reader . summary : in which uni students decipher vague tweets and emotions... + ie: second-year students y/n and xiao are forced to work through their term project (and feelings) as their friends attempt to meddle with their love lives ‘for the greater good’ . cw : swearing, slut-shaming, suggestive, reader she/her pronouns .

08. house visit
Tumblr media
act 1, scene 1
“My, my, my! Aren’t you up and early today. What, got another date with Xiao again?” Hu Tao walked into the kitchen where Y/N was preparing breakfast for her and her roommates. The brunette teasingly winked at her roommate who’s cheek had started to heat up again.
“Well no… but yes. He invited me over to work today. I can ask if you wanna come.”
“Oh I knew it! There’s absolutely no way you’d wake up so early just to make us breakfast. And I won’t be able to come. I signed up for peer mentoring so I have a meeting later today.”
“C’mon, 10 a.m. isn’t that early.”
“Uh, for you it is! Sometimes you sleep in until 1 p.m. on Fridays…”
“Fine, fine, I surrender,” Y/N chuckled, rolling her eyes as she lifted her hands up in surrender. “Do you want to call Yanfei up? The food is almost ready.”
“Shes in the washroom right now I think. Oh man, the food smells so good! You haven’t cooked us breakfast in forever.”
Yanfei joined the two at the table and the three girls chatted away on what’s been happening in their separate classes as of late. Despite always texting the girls and seeing them everyday for dinner, their studies and work often limited the time they had to spend together.
It was more surprising that Y/N was yet to spill the beans on her recent study sessions with the elusive Xiao from their ethics class.
“So, how is he? Have you cracked the shell yet? I haven’t really talked to him much since middle school, but our families keep in touch.” Hu Tao asked, taking a bite out of her food.
“You made him sound so much more intimidating than he actually was.”
“No, Hu Tao’s right. I remember that guy barely talking to anyone all of high school. The only reason why people knew him was because he was pretty…” Yanfei chirped in.
“He seems really nice to me… a gentleman too.”
Hu Tao choked on the juice she had been drinking. “Pfft. What? Xiao? Gentleman?”
“Yeah! He’s really sweet!” Y/N continued to detail the events of her meetings with the dark teal haired boy. From his first acts of chivalry, to how he took care of her at the cafe and even how he nailed her order twice! Her best friends couldn’t seem to bring themselves to believe her, insisting that maybe Xiao hit his head one day and had a whole personality change.
“Or who knows? Maybe his cousin is right and he does feel something for you. But it’s only been a few days so who am I to say?”
act 2, scene 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The door opened to reveal Xiao, wearing a tank top and sweats.
“Hey, come in. Sorry if it’s a bit messy, we’re cleaning up a bit.”
“Oh, hey Y/N! I haven’t seen you since the party! How have you been?” Kazuha called from within the living room. Y/N looked behind Xiao to see the platinum haired boy sweeping, wearing what looked like a cute pink cleaning apron.
“Hey, Kazuha— why are you dressed like that?”
“He’s a little silly like that.” Y/N looks over and spotted Heizou, leaning on the kitchen counter, chuckling as Kazuha side eyed him.
“Heizou, hi!”
Not long after did a fourth voice follow, signaling the entrance of the indigo haired pain-in-the-ass.
“Hope the door didn’t hit you on the way in, Y/N.”
“… nice to see you too bestie— Hey! Don’t touch me!” She yelled as Scaramouche teasingly ruffled her hair.
Xiao swatted away his cousin’s hand and grabbed his project partner by the shoulders to shift her away from the boys protectively.
“I’m done my part for cleaning so she and I will be studying in my room.”
“You mean our room?” Scaramouche chided.
“You’re not allowed in there when she’s here.”
“Hey! I paid for most of this dorm!”
“Please, Scara. It’s a school project.”
“I’ll be quiet and not bother you guys I promise.”
“Fine. Finish cleaning up first.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” Scaramouche was shooed away to do his chores by Xiao’s two other roommates as Xiao lead the way to his shared room.
He gave her a small bed-desk for her to put her things on top of while he worked at his own desk.
“I’m not gonna lie, we already got through a lot of the first part of this project and the first check-in isn’t until a week from now. Do you want to just finish everything for the check-in today so we can focus on other things next week?”
“Sure,” he shrugged, staring at their extensive amounts of research and notes that have been compiled into the document from the last few days.
The two powered through the next few hours finalizing the first report of their three-part project. Xiao’s three other roommates occasionally popped in to check on them and bring various cups of water, and teas. In Scaramouche’s case, it was often to bother either of the two and steal a few crackers. In the end, they successfully finished the draft.
“Oh man, my back hurts.” Y/N stretched in her spot as she closed her laptop.
“You should’ve told me. I would’ve swapped seats with you.”
“Nah, it’s alright. I didn’t want to ruin the momentum we had.”
Xiao looked at his clock. 4:49 p.m. “Do you want to see the Pokémon game? How long do you plan on staying?”
“Of course I want to see the game! I can leave whenever so it doesn’t really matter to me. Why? When do you want to kick me out?” Y/N raised her eyebrow teasingly at him.
He let out a chuckle. “You can stay for days if you wanted to and I still wouldn’t mind your company.”
“Ha ha very funny. I’d miss Yanfei and Hu Tao too much of you kept me hostage like that.”
“Do you want to at least stay for dinner? I’m sure the guys won’t mind and I can walk you home after.”
“Sure, why not.”

spoilers for pt. 4 of lantern rite, thoughts mainly focused on furina.
at first i was concerned that her & hu tao meeting was going to be another little jab at furina's trauma concerning the floods & the people that were lost to the waters & other things ( because she genuinely carries a lot of guilt with her over it & the powerlessness she felt for the last 500 years & just making false promises that she herself as she was had the power to help them when that wasn't the truth ), so i'm really glad that it didn't end up being the case & it ended up being an entirely different thing.
by the sounds of it furina might be testing her wit on making a horror film which i would love to see personally. i hope this comes back full circle in a later patch - would love to see who she thinks would make perfect actors to star in her horror film, it'll probably be characters from liyue since liyue folklore seems to have been the source of inspiration for this film idea she's trying to iron out.
i'm glad that we caught the fontaine cast as they were leaving liyue because i really wanted the lantern rite to be more heavily focused on the liyue cast. i love the implication that the fontaine characters were there enjoying the lantern rite as well though!
i can't express just how happy i am that furina got to meet zhongli first out of the seven & that she got to spend time with him in the company of hu tao. she genuinely enjoyed their company & i adore & i'm so happy that she did because it emphasizes that her isolation isn't something she does with pleasure. furina doesn't like to be alone, she doesn't want to anymore. being on her own is just something she was forced to live with, self-isolation to cope with what may come her way & threaten her spirit. the fact that she can kick it off with others so well is wonderful & that she feels so at ease & comfortable to just be herself around them.
Tumblr media
furina being able to tell there's more to zhongli than meets the eye by a mere conversation was awesome. the exhaustion i feel when people want to discredit her ability to critically think on her own or that she's too "childish" to connect two & two on her own is ridiculous. also this one shot of zhongli looking so happy to see her in person is very cute to me.
Tumblr media
it gets glossed over that the seven see furina & her expelled divinity as one entity ( individual interpretations from the fandom/fanon aside ), so betwixt them they hold her at a very high esteem for being able to successfully deceive the heavenly principles which is an entity that they all fear ( for good reason ). they don't see furina &/or focalors, they just see furina who has simply destroyed her throne & is now like zhongli & venti are, they're just three retired tired & exhausted ex-archons. furina, however, does not fully have her memories intact, she only has vague recollections of her very old life. should that ever return to her in full swing or not is still very much in the air. it's neither a yes or a no.
anyway, i'm glad that it can't be argued that furina cares so much about neuvillette. he means a lot to her. & that she thinks of his wellbeing & is hopeful about him giving himself a chance in this world even with his lack of interest for it which she has known he has for the longest time. she knows him so well it's actually so lovely to see it play out how it does. she's using the traveler as her middle man, to pass on her message to him but i'm hopeful for the day where these two will get to talk to each other again & reconcile as she continues to find a healthy way to sort through her traumas & her woes to where it's not entirely consuming her anymore. having her see that she's deserving of love & is worthy of it & that it's genuine is the day i'm so excited to be able to see & witness for myself. for hundreds of years furina encouraged neuvillette to integrate himself more & more into the human world so that he for himself can see the beauty she saw in it even through the struggles & pains that come with it so i'm sure hearing the advice furina told the traveler to pass on to him was a song he was all too familiar with. him admitting & coming to terms with that is very important to that part of their relationship.
hearing clorinde regard furina as her friend no doubt meant the absolute world to furina & given how familiar furina is with clorinde it was important to me that she heard it from clorinde the most because furina knows clorinde wouldn't just say & toss the word friend around so lightly & so mindlessly. it really strengthened the foundation afterwards for furina to call them both her friends as well a few moments later because that was reassurance to furina. clorinde just saying this is what friends do for each other was letting her know that they really see her as their friend & that it's okay for furina to consider & see them as her friends as well because they already consider her as part of their group. it made me so happy. they all came separately but they all depart together.
in general i was pretty happy. it was so nice to see furina again. she means everything to me.
some tid bits that i found so funny were the implications that zhongli really did avoid neuvillette which the conflict in that is something i love because there really is a deep rooted conflict there by relation that needs to get addressed & ironed over & not fixed by the power of friendship.
hu tao saying that neuvillette was a friend of furina's that still had a lot of growing up to do because it's true, hu tao isn't wrong but it's just so funny that it came from hu tao, not because i believe her immature, but because her saying it out of anybody else is implying something.
& then the fact that furina vaguely recalls neuvillette's age as a result of hu tao saying that neuvillette has so much room to grow. i didn't know there was so much controversy around it because from the very beginning it was made clear that furina knew he was the sovereign. you may interpret the text as you want. both cn/jp say that he's at least a thousand years old while the english translation say he's several thousands which, both in essence, are not wrong. furina counting his previous dragon incarnations into his current one isn't anything new, at least to me.
regardless, i'm happy furina got to spend time with zhongli. they're good friends now.

pairing: childe x lumine (chillumi, kinda y/n though) NSFW MINORS GO AWAY
cw: not proofread, first time writing anything explicit xd, minor sir kink, mentions of exhibition, mentions of power dynamics, no piv they get close though, soft dom childe oooooooh jesus is shaking his head at me rn
Tumblr media
He ran his hand through her hair, admiring her for a second longer. “Such a pretty girl with such a pretty body, hm? I want to hear you say it.”
“Ajaaax,” she said, whining in his lap, “that’s so embarassing!”
Tumblr media
Lumine was proud of her ability to maintain a stoic façade. The time Kaveh broke the brand new (extremely expensive) office coffee machine within the first 20 minutes of it arriving? She was totally unphased. The respective lectures about ‘office responsibility’ from Al Haitham, shrugging his head in disappointment? Not a flicker of emotion on her face. The time Hu Tao nearly got them both fired for academic misconduct? Chilled.
So, what exactly was it about her boss that made her blush like a schoolgirl and run away?
“He’d be significantly sexier if he was less, you know, boring.” Hu Tao said, arriving back at the cubicle with the cocktails. Lumine grabbed the ‘Sex on the beach’ with a long sigh, knowing her friend would have found the name unbelievably funny.
“Hey, you don’t know if he’s actually boring!” Lumine objected, watching the table of their colleagues out of the corner of her eye. Ajax was sat on the end, silently observing the antics of everyone around him. She noticed he’d taken a solid 3 sips of his Negroni, which was about 30 less than everyone he was sat with. This bar was local, not too far out from where they all lived, and a total dead spot aside from them. They’d finally wrapped up a large trade, and Ajax had taken everyone out for ‘celebration drinks’. Of course, Kaveh had interpreted this as unlimited booze on the company card.
“I think I have a better grasp on him than the girl who blushes and excuses herself after uttering two sentences, no? He asked me if you hated him a while back.” Hu Tao said, pushing her straw around.
Lumine felt a familiar heat rise to her cheeks. “Well, what did you say back?”
“I said he was worried about the wrong person hating him. He laughed and told me to get out.” Hu Tao said, snickering at the memory. Ever since she’d been hired, she’d taken it upon herself to terrorise nearly everyone within their small office. She’d made it very clear that Lumine’s baked goods were the only things that had saved her, and the only reason she even bothered visiting the finance department. [She had not responded well to Lumine’s reminder that she was, quite literally, also a finance employee].
“This is a nightmare. You’re a nightmare. Excuse me while I go to the toilets and throw up.” Lumine said, resting her head on the sticky table. She regretted it almost immediately, opting to wipe her forehead with a spare napkin.
“Thank you. I know.”
-
Three drinks later and the rest of their coworkers had clearly decided that ‘girl time’ privileges had been revoked. Kaveh, Al Haitham, and Cyno had deigned to come squeeze into the booth, while Ajax and Zhong Li chatted politely at the bar. There was some antics surrounding a card game with an inconclusive winner, leading to childish poking and insults being thrown left and right. It was sweet, having the opportunity to relax after finally closing a deal that had had everyone on double overtime.
“Have you ever considered that it might just be a skill issue on your end, Al Haitham?” Cyno asked across the table, much to everyone elses amusement.
“Dude, no way Cyno just skill issue’d you, what.” Kaveh said, giggling uncontrollably into Haitham’s shoulder. He was more than a little tipsy, like Cyno next to him, contributing to the lively atmosphere of the booth. “That’s so funny.”
“Maybe you should remember who pays your wages, Cyno.” Haitham responded, bemused by the drunk nature of his friends. He took a second to play with Kaveh’s hair, before catching himself and retracting his hand. Their romance was far from an office secret, but they were both typically timid people.
Hu Tao took the moment of weakness to jump on him. “Firstly, I’m totally emailing HR right now. Secondly, you don’t even write the checks. You spend your time running around after Ajax like a lost puppy, begging your master for scraps.”
Lumine came back into focus to the noise of another glass being placed on the table.
 “Who’s begging me for scraps?” He said, sliding into the seat next to her. He greeted the table with a polite nod in her direction, before returning his attention to Hu Tao.
“Puppy over there. With the green sweater.” Hu Tao said, meeting eyes with Lumine and snickering. She felt far too hot, and she was sure her cheeks were already blazing. She fiddled anxiously with the end of her skirt, suddenly self conscious of her outfit and her hair and her everything.
“Ah, you’re a puppy now, Haitham? I would have thought you were a cat.” Ajax said, casting a look at the three drunk men in the corner. He grinned at the sight, enjoying watching his friends relaxing after one of the most stressful weeks in the history of the company.
“Eat shit.” Haitham said over the edge of his glass, looking directly at his best friend. The entire table burst out laughing, and Lumine felt her anxious energy dissipating. She quickly excused herself, sliding out of the bench over Ajax and making eye contact with Hu Tao.
The toilets were a long journey in this pub, with the trek taking her up two sets of stairs and halfway across the third floor. In her ever-so-slightly tipsy state, it took her an embarrassingly long time to make it there. She stared at herself in the mirror, smoothing down her hair and adjusting the pleats of her skirt. She’d found it online, and it was a baby blue with white lace frills. Accompanied with the white crop top she’d found hidden in her wardrobe, she had decided to fully commit to the ‘babydoll’ aesthetic, with some blue slide in clips and her hair down for the first time in months. She looked totally different from her usual work attire, since Hu Tao had decided tonight would be the day that she ‘got some’.
“You’ve been stressed for a month. Please. If not for your sake, then for mine, because you stopped being funny about a week and a half ago and I am dying here.”
“Okay, dude, calm down. I could totally get some if I wanted. I’m just not interested in anyone, and the casual thing is way too hard for me.”
“My bad, I forgot you’re only interested in your smooth-talking finance bro boss. You know he’s ginger, right?”
When she’d finally regained her confidence, she pushed the door open, only to be met with a broad back and ginger hair. Ajax was standing across from the entrance, absent-mindedly tapping on his phone. He immediately looked up, shooting her a smile.
“I came to check on you. You were gone for a while, and everyone else is honestly far too loud for my head after this week.” He said earnestly, immediately slipping his phone into his pocket to give her his full attention.
She smiled back at him. It wasn’t the first time that they’d been alone together, but never in this kind of context. She noticed his eyes flickering up and down, taking in her outfit for the first time. His reaction gave nothing away, and she felt like he was staring at her like she was a piece of meat (in a respectful way, which she didn’t know whether to be extra disappointed by). “Yeah, it was a rough one for us all. I’m not the heaviest drinker, so I get it. They’re super annoying.”
He laughed loudly at her comment. “Way to word it nicely, God. I didn’t realise you had it in you to be funny.”
“Excuse me?”
“Every time anyone approaches you at work, you stare them down like you despise the very air they’re breathing. I thought you just straight up hated me for the longest time.”
You can’t just say to your boss of 4 months ‘I’m so sorry I ignore you, it’s because I can’t be in the same room as you without wanting to jump your bones’. The alcohol, however, relaxed her enough to give an answer that came across fun, rather than shy.
“Oh my god, no, I could never. I’m just a little serious, I didn’t mean to give you the wrong impression.”
“That’s a huge relief to hear. You’re a total asset to the company, I think I’d have a heart attack if I made you resign.”
“Thank you, Sir, that’s a really kind notion.” He tensed up at her words, sending a nervous twinge down her spine.. He was walking just ahead of her, giving her a view of his huge back. He worked out, she could tell, and the fact that he took care of himself just made her want him even more.
“Jesus, okay, drop the Sir. I’m only 27, you’re going to make me feel old. Do you want me to give you a lift home? I feel like everyone else is going to want to end up at a club after this.”
“That would be really nice, S-“ She started, only to be met with a disapproving glare. Sheepishly, she ended her sentence before she could dig herself a bigger hole.
“See? You’re a smart girl.”
Well, fuck. If she wasn’t calling him Sir before, she definitely wanted to now. She felt like she would melt into a puddle on the ground, especially with his hand on her lower back. God, he was beautiful. His eyes were sunken with the amount of sleep he must forgo to ensure that their company succeeds, but they still twinkled with a boyish charm that made her heart skip a beat.
-
“Holy shit, you’re hot.” Hu Tao shouted at her when they were back in view of the table. Lumine rewarded her with a little spin, showing her the entire outfit. She took her seat on Tao’s lap, enjoying the flirtatious vibe that had clearly taken over the table in her absence. As she sat, she noticed Ajax was unable to make eye contact with her, shifting around in his seat.
“What’d you do to the poor man?” Tao whispered in her ear, staring suspiciously.
“Shut up. Nothing. I swear.”
Half an hour later, she was bidding her goodbyes to her friends as they hobbled towards the next club.
“Dude, Kaveh’s so not going to get in.” Lumine said, watching him hobble along the cobblestone.
He attempted to turn around at the mention of his name. “What do you mean, I am like sooo sober.”
Hu Tao smiled, grabbing Lumine’s hand. “I just won’t let him speak, don’t worry. I’ll text you when we’re all home safe, so take it easy tonight.”
“I love you.” She replied, hugging her closely.
“I love you too. Drive safely, okay?”
Ajax’s car was quiet, and sleek, which suited him perfectly. She sat there for a while, enjoying the purring of the engine, and how his muscles rippled whenever he moved to shift gear. It was hard not to stare, especially when his hair was ever so slightly falling in front of his face, and he relaxed back into his leather seat. The alcohol buzzed through her system, and she felt like she was floating just from being in his proximity. The drive wasn’t long, and she was home before she knew it. He stepped out first, walking around to open the door for her.
“I really like how you had your hair tonight. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you with it down, but it looks great. You should wear it like that more often.” He said, diffusing the uncomfortable silence. He helped her step out, holding her hand to help steady her upon her return to the ground.
“Oh, thank you! You look great as well, but I suppose that’s not particularly out of the ordinary.” She said, absent-mindedly climbing out of the car.. It took her a second to realise exactly what she’d said, before she started blushing profusely and trying to stammer out an apology.
“You’re just so fucking cute, Lumine.” He said, staring directly at her. She had no response, staring at him with wide eyes. “So pretty, and you drive me crazy. I see you in the hallwau and have to force myself to stay in my seat.”
“Do you want to come in?” She breathed out.
“Only if you’re sober enough to promise me that you want this.”
“I’ve been wanting this since that day the AC broke. You wore a blue button up and rolled the sleeves, and I think I nearly died..” Lumine said, overwhelmed by a sudden rush of confidence. She hurriedly shoved her key into the lock, opening up her apartment.
-
As soon as they were both in, he pounced, pushing her back up against the door with his hands on her waist. He crashed his lips onto her, holding her still as he brutalised her lips. The kiss was like waves crashing against the shore, with his hands roaming everywhere they could. He took his time exploring her body, running his hands across her waist. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him even closer. He pulled away for a second, admiring her swollen lips and her heavy eyes. Fucking pretty, she heard him whisper, before diving back in. This time, he went for her neck, leaving her covered in kisses and gentle nips. Every time he kissed her, she let out a tiny sigh.
“My bedroom is that way.” She breathed out, finding the strength to lift herself off the door. She grabbed his hand and he took it eagerly, following her earnestly. He almost laughed upon entry, seeing how it subverted his expectations almost entirely. For such a professional, composed girl, he hadn’t expected to see fluffy plushies covering every surface and posters of all of the latest idol groups.It suited her, he thought. The version of Lumine he’d met tonight, was definitely the kind of girl who loved all the sweeter things in life.
“The skirt can stay. The shirt needs to go, okay, Princess?” He said, tugging at the end of it. She flushed at his words, and even more at the nickname. “Gonna show you exactly how a pretty little thing like you deserves to be treated.”
She grabbed at the bottom of her shirt, pulling it over her head in one quick move. She took a mental note to thank herself for remembering to wear the cutest piece of lingerie she could find, which was a lacy blue bralet. He groaned out loud when he saw it, taking a seat at the edge of her bed. He could see her nipples poking through the fabric, and felt himself start straining against his pants. With courage, she straddled him at the edge of her bed.
“You’re going to kill me. This,” he said, running his finger under the baby blue strap,” is how I die.”
“Oh, so you like it?” She said, giggling into his shoulder as he continued to play with the straps. “Bought it just for you. Remembered you said that blue was your favourite when I bought in those cupcakes. Saw it and had to.”
He groaned again at her words. His voice dropped a little, and he seemed unable to tear his eyes away from her. “You gonna let me take it off, princess? Want me to touch your pretty tits until you beg me to stop?”
She let out a loud whine at his words. Immediately, she moved her hand to cover her mouth. Embarrassment swept through her entire body. Ajax noticed her movements, and starting cooing almost immediately. He tenderly grabbed her hand away from her mouth, taking advantage of her shocked state to hold them in place behind her back. She bit back a moan when she realised he was able to hold her in place with just one arm. His other hand worked on her bra, swiftly unhooking it and helping her shrug it off her shoulders.
Lumine shivered with the sudden exposure. She shivered even harder when he immediately lent forward, taking the left one into his mouth. He took his time, swirling it until it was hard in his mouth. He then moved onto the next one, repeating the process until she was squirming in his grip.
He ran his hand through her hair, admiring her for a second longer. “Such a pretty girl with such a pretty body, hm? I want to hear you say it.”
“Ajaaax,” she said, whining in his lap, “that’s so embarassing!”
“Saying my name like that is just criminal. Tell me how pretty you are and I’ll make you feel so good. You look like an angel right now, I want to hear you say it.”
She hid her face in his shoulder once more. “M pretty.”
“Oh? I couldn’t quite hear that. Who’s pretty?” He said, using his free hand to grab her chin and force her to look him in the eyes.
“Me! I’m your pretty girl. Will you stop now?” She said, pouting as soon as she was done. He took the opportunity to kiss her once more, watching her melt under his touch.
“Hm, maybe. Will you be good? Lay back and let me show you exactly how pretty you are?”
“If you keep talking to me like that, I’d let you do anything.”
“Oh? I should have guessed. You get so red and squirmy in our performance meetings, did you know that? Was it me telling you how exemplary you are, or was it you daydreaming about me pulling you onto my lap?”
“I don’t think you’d believe half the things I’ve seen inside my head.” She replied truthfully, staring into his pretty blue eyes.
“What would you do if I touched you like this in the office, hm? I could show everyone what a good girl you are for me. Bet you’d even call me Sir while you cum on my fingers if I asked you to.”
Lumine lost the ability to speak as he continued to rile her up. Eventually, he let go of her arms, moving to toy with the end of her skirt instead. After a quick nod of affirmation, he dipped his fingers underneath her skirt. She moaned and whimpered as he ran his fingers up and down her thighs, being deliberately obtuse about where she actually wanted him. Every movement sent electric straight to her core, leaving her a whining mess under his touch.
“I haven’t even touched you there yet. You can keep yourself together a little longer, surely? Or am I going to discover that you’ve soaked straight through them?” He whispered, as if he was keeping a big secret between the two of them. He lifted her off his lap, manoeuvring her to lay down on the bed. Once she was settled and comfortable, he crawled back on top of her.
And Finally! He pushed her matching panties to the side, and had a good look at her. Her thighs were at risk of becoming sticky with arousal, and she was gleaming even under the dim light. He ran his finger up and down her slit, watching as she whimpered and convulsed around him.
“Oh, you’re soaked, Princess. Did you want this as badly as I did. Want me to make you cum until you cry?” He said, grinning as he brought his finger up to his mouth. He sucked it clean, savouring every drop of her, before kissing her once more. She could taste them both together, and it was shockingly attractive to her.
“We taste good.” She said sheepishly as he pulled away. He just grinned, looking down at her with something that could only be described as adoration.
He moved his hand back down to her, keeping the other one next to her head. He kept his eye on her face, watching her expression as he touched her clit for the first time. When she gasped in shock, he knew he was on the right path. With just a few tiny circles, she was whining and pleading for him, letting out tiny whines of his name. They shot straight down to his semi, and he tried to dismiss all of them. Not right now, he was pleading internally, right now is about her. .He started a more consistent rhythm with his fingers, monitoring what she was responding best to and whispering praise in her ear.
“Look at how much you want me, Lumine. Spent all that time avoiding me, could have spent all that time with my fingers buried in this pretty cunt.” To punctuate his words, he slipped one finger inside her. She moaned, the loudest she’d moaned the entire evening. “Knew you’d like that, you’re so fucking tight around me.”
He started to pump his hand slowly, taking his time to adjust her to his first finger. She was already starting to thrash around under him, so he moved his spare hand to pin her arm down. He silenced her protesting with another passionate kiss, using it as a perfect distraction to slip a second finger in. Her whine of satisfaction spurred him on, encouraging to feel around for the spot that would make her feel Cloud 9. His exploration was cut short, however, when he felt a tiny little string inside her.
“What is that?”He asked, genuinely curious about what he was feeling.
“Oh, it’s my IU-“ She said, struggling to form a coherent sentence as he pistoned his fingers inside of her. “Means you can fill me up and nothing bad will happen.”
His eyes widened in shock. “Want me to fuck you until you’re nice and full of me, hm? Pump you full of my cum while I make you cream on my cock? Didn’t realise my princess was such a little pervert.” Lumine pretended not to notice how wide his grin got as he talked about it.
Her eyes widened suddenly, as Ajax finally reached the spot he’d been waiting for. She came almost instantly, clenching around his fingers as she shook in his grasp. He kept moving, hoping to help her ride it through. She looked truly ethereal like this, his pretty girl giving him exactly what he wanted from her. He waited a while before bringing her out of her dazed state, grounding her while stroking her hair.
“So pretty, so good for me. You coming back yet?” He asked, never once taking his eyes off her face.
“It’s your turn.” She said, pouting as he moved her hand away from his trousers.
“Another time. Get some sleep, okay?” He said, moving away from her quickly.
And just like that, she was out like a light.
She awoke in the morning to being tucked in the bedsheets, and the smell of fresh pancakes wafting through her open door. It took a few seconds for her to manage to open her eyes, and when the grogginess of sleep finally lifted she nearly jumped out of her skin. Shit. Fuck. Shit.
She grabbed some pyjamas from the nearby dresser, throwing on a large tshirt and a pair of biking shorts. She took a second to smooth down her hair and noticed that her makeup had been taken off during the night. Did he take it off for her? Just how hard had she slept? As she turned around in the mirror, she finally took notice of the big red bruise blooming on her collarbone.
Lumine walked into the kitchenette, taking in the view. Ajax was shirtless, bending over the countertop while he scrolled on his phone. His large back dwarfed her tiny kitchen, and it was almost comical watching him amongst her small bowls and glasses. In front of him was a plate of freshly prepared pancakes, and a few toppings he’d managed to scrape from her empty fridge.
She leaned on the wall, trying to give her best unbothered pose. “Hi.”
“Sleeping Beauty has finally joined us! I was wondering when you’d wake up, you were out like a light last night.” He said, turning around immediately to shoot her a genuine smile. “I made breakfast. You want to eat, or just need a drink first?”
“Let’s eat.” She said, taking a plate from the counter and moving it onto the table. She took her seat and he took the other, and they sat in another comfortable silence for what felt like years. “You know, this is the first time a guy’s ever made me breakfast after the fact.”
“Trying to win your heart, obviously. Then you’re tied to the company for life.” He grinned into the pancake he was eating. She sighed dramatically, refusing to answer his teasing.
“I’m telling HR.”

Insecurities They Wouldn’t Tell You They Have
Tumblr media
Characters: Shenhe, Ganyu, Ei, Ayaka, Kazuha, Beidou, Eula and Hu Tao.
Warnings: Mentions of scars, body image and self esteem issues.
Notes: Not requested, just something I wanted to write because I’m very soft for them and they’re allowed to be flawed <3
Tumblr media
Shenhe’s insecurity is her scars. She has scars all over her hands from practicing with her polearm, her arms from fighting monsters, her face from when she was a child and her father abandoned her in that cave with that half-god, half-beast she fought to death. When you hold Shenhe’s face in your hands, she hopes her scars are not unpleasant to look at, that you don’t feel scared or repulsed by them. She doesn’t voice this, but something in the way you so tenderly kiss the scar on her eyebrow, the one under her eye, the scar on her chin, tells her that she doesn’t have anything to worry about.
.
Ganyu has many insecurities, but the one that causes her the most anxiety is her tummy. Or her weight, in general, would be more accurate to say. Ganyu puts on weight fairly quickly and she has been painfully aware ever since she can remember. She always carefully plans all of her meals, always making sure she doesn’t exceed herself, but were she to put on some weight by any chance, Ganyu dearly hopes you don’t really mind. She’s never voiced these thoughts, but you know her like the palm of your hand, so whenever you’re lazily lying in bed together, you wrap your arms around her waist and press soft kisses to her belly. Ganyu immediately flushes red and asks you to stop with a quiet voice, but you giggle and keep leaving soft kisses on every inch of skin your lips can reach, because that’s how endlessly beautiful Ganyu is to you.
.
Ei’s insecurity is her lack of knowledge of modern things. She’s well-versed in all the fighting techniques across Inazuma, well-read with the knowledge of thousands of years of history, but when it comes to simple and modern things like Taking a picture, or Drinking boba tea, she’s at a loss for words. Ei hopes you don’t mind explaining things to her. She very much enjoys taking a stroll with you through the streets of Inazuma, even more so when every outing with you turns into a learning experience, and you’re always so patient with her. Ei is really grateful to you.
.
Ayaka’s main insecurity is her inexperience when it comes to matters of the heart. She’s never been one to have that many friends, simply because she hasn’t had the opportunity to. Having a lover, however, seems like an even bigger challenge for which she has little preparation. Ayaka gets flustered by the tiniest of things. A heartfelt compliment, a brush of your hands together while walking, your hand pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. Ayaka is quick to hide her flushed expression with her fan, and she can’t even fathom what it will be like when you give her her first kiss! She’s excited, but also endlessly nervous, so she hopes it’s okay with you to take things slow for now <3
.
Kazuha is his lack of possessions. As a wanderer, he’s never really cared for earthly possessions. All he ever needs is a clear sky above his head and the endless and vast world around him to explore. But ever since you came into his life and swept him off his feet, Kazuha has been thinking. He wants to build a life with you, but he has nothing to offer. His clan, once proud and wealthy, vanished with him being the only one alive, and he left that life to pursue his dream of exploring the world. He hopes you don’t mind what little he has, for his love for you is as vast as the sky above.
.
Beidou’s insecurity is the fact that she’s always out at sea. Don’t get her wrong, it’s the life she chose for herself and one that she adores profoundly. She wouldn’t change herself or her lifestyle, she doesn’t think she can live anchored to the same place every day of her life. Still, you’re always her reason to come back to land. In you, Beidou has found the home she can always return to. She doesn’t regret a thing, but she hopes you don’t get tired and leave her for someone who never leaves the land.
.
Eula’s biggest insecurity and burden to bear is her noble upbringing. She’s a Lawrence, but she wishes you could see beyond that title that doesn’t represent her anymore. Everybody in Mondstadt casts her away or has some reservations when interacting with her, and her hardened exterior and cold behavior doesn’t help her case, but still Eula wishes that people could see past her last name, at least when it comes to you. She would hate to hear the people of Mondstadt speaking ill of you. Still, you’ve reassured her time and time again, her hands on yours, warmer, that you love her for her, and your feelings are nothing that any last name nor the people of Mondstadt could ever change. Eula won’t admit this out loud, but she’s never felt more welcomed than she does when she’s wrapped in your arms.
.
Hu Tao’s biggest thing she’s proud of but also her biggest insecurity is her playful behavior, her ability to see the fun in everything. She’s been forced to grow up fast the moment her grandfather wasn’t around to coddle her, and her sunny and cheerful personality is what has given her the strength to move forward and strive for bettering the business her grandfather entrusted her with. Still, in the eyes of the people of Liyue, Hu Tao is nothing more than a nuisance, someone who doesn’t take serious matter to heart, and thus they often cast her away. Hu Tao is nothing other than cheerful and cheeky around you, but inside she dearly hopes you won’t change your mind about her and leave her as everyone in Liyue else has done. She hopes you can see her true emotions, and that they’re enough to make you stay. Though something in the way you so easily comply with her antics, how you let her cup your face and sprinkle your skin with kisses, tells her that you’re here to stay.

Having them as roommates
characters: Hu Tao/Itto x gn!reader (platonic)
college au
a/n: just smth I wanted to write, since I didn't have that much time today. So anyway, I present you: Hu "definitely has a ouija board" Tao and Arataki "has the actual intelligence of a rock" Itto
Tumblr media
Hu Tao would be on her best behaviour for the first few weeks, sure, she was a bit… eccentric, but over all seemed like a normal roommate, but once you got accustomed to it, she started showing her true self. While you thought about just packing your things up and leaving in the middle of the night at first, your exposure to her pranks and terrible, dark sense of humour eventually caused you to find amusement in it. The first time you laughed about one of her jokes, you caught both of you completely off-guard.
But there were also a few good things about living with her. Hu Tao was a decent cook… if she wanted to. Eating her food could either result in having a pretty good meal or in you trying to get the terrible taste of her creation out of your mouth, so it didn’t come as a surprise that you would be the one doing the cooking most of the time. You also had to admit that, once you got used to her rather odd humour, there never were any boring moments with her, when the two of you weren’t watching one of the many films Hu Tao recommended to you, you would be chatting about all kinds of stuff.
You sat at your desk, a cup of black tea in one hand, your notes in the other. If only you had started studying a bit earlier, you wouldn’t be stressing out while calculating the minimum amount of sleep a person needed for their brain to be somewhat functioning. When you felt yourself getting tired again, you took a quick sip from your tea, only to realise, that it had seemingly lost it’s affected. Just as you were thinking about a new way to keep yourself awake, your roommate barged into your room, either already expecting you to be in the process of pulling an all-nighter, or simply not caring for your sleep, either way, you had just developed a new plan.
You despised horror movies, they robbed you of all possibilities of having even a second of sleep, making you too scared to close your eyes for more time required to blink, so they were just the thing you needed at this moment. When you asked Hu Tao if she wanted to watch one of the many horror movies, she always tried to coerce you into watching, her surprise made it almost seem as if you asked her to get rid of someone for you, but she quickly found her composure before shooting you a smile and dragging you to the TV.
What was supposed to be just a single film, quickly turned into a movie marathon, with the two of you watching one scary story after another, completely forgetting your original reason to watch one in the first place.
“Hey… didn’t you tell me you have a test in a few days?”, Hu Tao eventually asked before yawning and stretching herself, her reminder causing you to start panicking for a moment, only stopping once you decided to count the days until the exam in your head.
“I still have two days. If I study today and tomorrow, I’ll be fine”, you eventually responded, leaning back before letting out a sigh. Exactly, two days of studying are enough to still get a decent grade.
…As you saw your results, having barely managed to somehow not flank the exam, you felt a sudden urge to punch your past self while swearing to yourself that you would never procrastinate ever again. Well, starting from tomorrow, you had a stressful day after all, so you deserved a bit of rest. But tomorrow you would start ignoring all of Hu Tao’s invitations to watch movies together and focus on what was important.
Spoiler: You didn’t.
Tumblr media
Even though you and Itto were roommates for quite some time, you were pretty sure that he had never even said your name once. The moment you two got assigned to live together, he started calling you nothing other than “bro”, “dude” or “guy”. At first you were a bit irritated by his behaviour, but you quickly got used to it and even joined in, causing neither of your names to be said out loud in your home ever again.
To be completely honest, you had absolutely no clue how he managed to pass his classes, becoming somewhat convinced that he did so by a mix of sheer luck and his entire friend group combining their brain-cells. Not that you minded, since there were a lot worse people you could have been forced to live together and while his looks made you worried that he might force you to do all the housework, you quickly found a way to trick him into doing most of it.
Itto was… pretty bad at video games, but that didn’t stop him from getting competitive over them every single time, even if he didn’t even know the controls of the game. So, whenever you saw that there were dishes to be made, and it technically was your day to do so, you would ask him to play a game or two to determine who would get to do them.
“Dude… isn’t it like, your day to make the dishes?”, he asked you, clearly not being too thrilled over the possibility of potentially having you dumb your share of work on him. He learned slow, but he learned from his mistakes, you had to give him that. But while this would be the end for most, you had found a handy “cheat-code” to make his reluctance vanish into thin air.
“Are you scared that you might lose?”, while your grin and tone should have been enough to make it clear to everyone that taking you up on your “offer” was a terrible idea, Itto’s pride seemingly once again got the better of him, since his faced told you that he began seriously considering it. It didn’t take too long for him to eventually shake your hand with a big, stupid smile on his face.
“Okay, but this time I’ll definitely beat you!”
Sometimes, you couldn’t help but feel guilty about using Itto to make your life easier, especially now that you were watching him do the dishes once again, but whenever you did feel bad, you would remember all the painful nights you’d spent trying to stuff as much knowledge as possible into his brain just before an exam and how you would worry about potentially getting a new roommate each and every time, only for him to somehow pass the test. Those terrible memories would never fail to make you cheer up again, making it possible for you to clear your mind, lean back and stream your favourite show in silence.

The Waterborne Poetry event has answered a question, and also sprung up a new question.... Actually, two questions, in my most humble opinion...
Anyway, before I move on, do note that there may be 🚨SPOILERS🚨 for those of you who have, for some reason, not done the event during this period... and also for those of you who may have missed it... best if you go watch the gameplay for this event to know what's going on first...
As we all know, the Waterborne Poetry was a follow-up from the Lantern Rite 2023 event where Venti and Hu Tao planned to have a poetry event together. So, here you go, the Waterborne Poetry was born.
Tumblr media
(Picture Source: Genshin Impact thru' Google Image Search)
But, the story doesn't actually only follow up from there, it also follow up from the Endora event back in... 2021, I think? Players who played the event were granted a little Endora Oceanid as their pet.
Tumblr media
(Picture Source: Genshin Impact Wiki Fandom thru' Google Image Search)
Just a quick recap, the little Oceanid Endora... actually, I forgot how the Traveler found her... but what I do remember was, like Callirhoe, Endora grew very weak while traveling, and had to latch herself onto some moveable water source... think if memory serves me right, it was a hydro slime.
In order to help little Endora, the Traveler travelled between Mondstadt and Liyue to capture some rogue Oceanid and letting Endora absorb them. By doing so, Endora would be able to regain her strength and her speech should improve a lot.
Part of the event was us finding out that another Oceanid was actually living in the waters of Springvale. At that time, players weren't really sure what to make of the Oceanid existing in Springvale since there was no appearance of this particular Oceanid. Eventually, I think many forgot about it.
Fast forward to the Waterborne event, it was only in this event that it jogged our memory that there was indeed an Oceanid living in Springvale. And that was none other than Callirhoe.
Tumblr media
(Picture Source: GoldenBow @ YouTube thru' Google Image Search)
Apart from her main romance with Finch, she did make some friends while living in the waters of Springvale. One of them was our beloved feline, Diona.
Tumblr media
(Picture Source: Rock Paper Shotgun thru' Google Image Search)
Because she was touched by their friendship, Callirhoe gave Diona a special ability, that is, to make any drink into a delicious drink no matter what she puts inside.
So... that kinda answers our question about her mixing ability. It's not because she is Mondstadt's version of Xiangling, but because she was blessed by Callirhoe.
But now, that also gives rise to another question which was also addressed by the character himself.
Is Chongyun's pure yang energy a blessing from someone else as well?
Tumblr media
(Picture Source: PC Invasion thru' Google Image Search)
I believe we will get a story that is Chongyun-focused to answer that question... if Hoyoverse remembers...
That was the first question. The second question is whether or not Xiao is truly having romantic feelings for the Traveler.
Tumblr media
I have covered this in my other post of the list of characters having possible romantic feelings for the Traveler. Not going to details again, there seem to be a hint that Xiao does have some romantic feelings to the Traveler.
It was speculation at first, but a little note on the noticeboard at Wangshu Inn has caused this question to be raised.
Tumblr media
Posting only this screenshot so you can go see the rest yourselves :3
Anyway, I hope Hoyoverse will give us the proper closure to all of the romance blossoming in the air... I mean, first, they confirmed that the Lumine X Childe ship is cannon, then they dropped a Lyney having a crush on the Traveler, and now this...
Regardless of who has romantic feelings for the Traveler, I think many players are wanting to see if the Traveler will reciprocate one of them. Who knows? May be we will have an all out war of the various ships involving the Traveler.

Note
As a selfshipper of smol men like Bennet and Xingqiu, I’m also sick of the attitude people have about that. People like to say that the fiction is fiction and reality is reality mindset is the norm and not the exception in fandom. I’m not that active in general fandom or general shipping communities so maybe it is idk, but the selfshipping community is terrible about it. Can’t even read f/o imagines half the time without some bold, red message at the bottom about how much the op hates me in the biggest font that’s sometimes longer than the imagine itself.
And I don’t understand how exactly people “determine” who’s a minor and who isn’t in genshin. They’re using the model height, targeting medium models, but it’s not even consistent. Kazuha and Heizou and Kokomi and Tighnari are just short adults, and it’s fine to write and read romance as well as smut about them. But for some reason Chongyun and Xingqiu and Bennet and Xianling are kids?? Based on what, they’re the same size? Fischl x Mona is a semi-popular ship in the fandom but most people regard Mona as an adult and Fischl as like 14 (c’mon adults can be cringe too.) I don’t understand these people.
I'm sorry you have to deal with that Anon. This fandom only cares about stuff when it's convenient for them.
When it comes to Fischl, Xingqiu and possibly Xiangling however I'm pretty sure they actually are underage. Not because of height. Xingqiu is called "Juvenile Galant" the term Juvenile being described as "for or relating to young people." And the synonyms being words such as, pubescent, underage and junior on Google. He's also the only character with an escort to Inazuma aside from Klee during the Irodori festival.
I don't really know about Xiangling tbh. People say she still lives with her dad so she's a minor. Idk?? I think in Asian countries they're stricter about their adult kids not living with them past eighteen (just something I heard didn't research) so she's probably still living with her dad.
As for Fischl she still lives with her parents and even Mona describes her as young. I doubt she's any older than like sixteen. But even so that's really not a child as the fandom presents it.
I don't know this is all just so dumb to me. I watched this great video one time that was explaining that even if Fischl is underage an adult simping for her wouldn't be as weird cause there are definitely women with her body type in real life. Same with Hu Tao who is more than likely an adult. I just think people should go back to the days where they shipped who they wanted simped for whoever they wanted and blocked people they thought we gross instead of making full length threads about how this person is "problematic" or just plan harassing people.

Genshin Characters As Mitski Songs (+explanation !)
Tumblr media
╰┈➤Angst
╰┈➤Heizou , Kazuha , Yelan , Jean, Traveler , Diluc , Venti , Hu Tao
╰┈➤Anorexia mentions in Kazuha's, Story spoilers, Angst , Death mentions in Jean's , Venti's Heizou's , And Hu Tao's, Suicide in Venti's
masterlist
For Heizou I was really stuck between Once More To See You and Humpty, but I decided on Once More To See You, specifically because of his vision story, regarding his friend. Though this song is more on the topic of love, I focused my decision more on the fact of how such bonds between people can end in you being alone, like how Heizou's friend died in his arms one year after they met at the festival.
For the line "In the rear view mirror, I saw the sun setting on your neck" may refer to how he couldn't look directly at or even see his friend the same way after he admitted to committing crimes and lying to Heizou, but Heizou still keeping the "green pebble" from him under his bed, perhaps just as a way to remember him.
For Kazuha, similar to Heizou, I was a bit stuck on his. I kept changing his, but I settled on Square, specifically the solo piano version.
The song is mostly about a decaying relationship. I connected this to Kazuha by thinking of his friend that passed. Since he is dead, his relationship with Kazuha will never change and he will slowly lose the memory of him.
There is hinting of the singer being anorexic in the song lyrics, so that could be connected to Kazuha as him struggling to do even the small things after his friend passed and him trying to rekindle the vision to keep the image of his old friend with him.
Yelan's was fairly simple for me. I chose Pearl Diver for hers, and for just one single reason.
The song is about always wanting more of something. This something for Yelan could very well be information. In the chasm quest, it could be information on her relative. Outside of that, it could very well be information about others, or even herself.
Jean's was slightly done without me thinking, but I do not regret which song I chose for her, which was Old Friend.
If you read Lisa's lore, you'd know she has a curse that shortened her life span. Though the song has no mention of a friend that has passed away, I thought some of the lyrics could maybe apply to her, but it may be a stretch.
For the Traveler's, I had changed last minute. Theirs is Class of 2013 but specifically the audiotree live version. They have no mention in their parents in the storyline but it could just possibly refer to missing family and the nostalgia of being with them when you were younger.
One of the last lines "I'm chasing for the other girls to persue" could refer to them constantly wanting what others have and trying to become better and constantly wanting validation, perhaps.
Diluc's. I chose Dan the Dancer mostly because of one line. "He liked her more than life itself"
There was a slight reference in the Golden Apple Archipelago quest where Xinyan said "The person that lives in that manor (the winery) must love life" and Paimon was just sorta like "Yep.. For sure!" which led me to decide this song.
My decision for Venti's just felt right. Carry me out. The song is literally about carrying out the singers casket, as there's suicidal ideations built into the lyrics, and as we all know, Venti took the form of his friend, who had passed away, which really hurt Venti, but also gave him his seat in Celestia.
Considering how Venti reacted when Signora stole his gnosis, he probably doesn't care as much about things as much as a result of it and he just wants to get rid of that memory of his friend impaled with the arrow.
In Everyone, It mentions how the singer didn't immediately get support for her career, just like Hu Tao and how people don't respect her attitude towards death.
The song also mentions how the singer quickly gained popularity and proved those people wrong. Hopefully that happens for Hu Tao, but as of now, it hasn't.

Eternal Director, Forever Lawyer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A carefree whistle was heard from just outside the city, near the old Teleport Waypoint looking over Liyue Harbor.
Hu Tao, the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor; though, some just call 'The Director' and leave it at that. She's certainly lived long enough to keep it that way.
It's so, so ironic... but, hey, she wore out those jokes centuries ago. What new jokes can be made...?
"If you're looking for new jokes, I'd recommend Beidou," a voice behind her said. Turning to face them, Yanfei gave a small wave. "Though, given you're the greatest jokester to ever live, I'd say you're fine as is."
"Ah, Yan-Yan, ever the flatterer..." Hu Tao smiled, patting a spot next to her. "Good thing our days off line up; I couldn't begin to imagine a life without you."
Yanfei sat, and smiled back. "Well, back when I thought you were a mortal, I had problems coming to terms with leaving; what was that you used to say? 'The natural order must be respected'?"
"Counterintuitive, I know, but it still stands; anywho, enough moping, more conversing!" clapping her hands together, Hu Tao started off strong, "Any new civil cases this week?"
"Twenty." the lawyer groaned, placing her head in her hands. (Idly, Hu Tao noticed she's still using the black nail polish she got her all those years ago). "Sometimes, I wish I had your job; call me being in the dark, but you seem to have less problems than me..."
"Oh, in the open, sure I get along with people fine. But, behind closed doors, hoo boy, lemme tell ya; about a fortnight ago now, there was this young lad who passed on due to a heart problem. Now, I gave the family the funeral they wanted, the flowers on the grave, and even some comforting words for them. You'd think they'd accept that and grieve, as all people should..."
"But somebody said no?"
"Yeeeep." popping the 'p', the Director leaned into her palm. "Their grandfather was seriously attached to him and, for what ever reason, had drank before seeing him, and started to go at me. Now, yeah, that's fair; I'm not exactly all doom and gloom, but I'm not sunshines and rainbows neither; in my line of work, you need to balance when to take a step forwards, and when to take a step backwards."
"...He said something about me, didn't he?" at her nod, the Adeptus placed her hand on top of Hu Tao's and squeezed it gently. "Tao-Tao. What did he say?"
"...He said that, 'A person like me can never find true love. Not with that look on life'."
"Tao..." with care, Yanfei slowly put Hu Tao into her arms. "We both know you deserve love. And what does he know? You don't see the world in black and white, and not even in shades of grey: you see the world as it is. A fleeting world, where life goes on."
"...Heh. Qiqi said something similar. Speaking of, how is she...?"
"She's doing well; she understands you mean well, it's just... she's having a hard time adjusting to wanting to be your friend, you know?"
"Yeah, I can't knock her for that. I did give her a lasting impression."
"...Damnit, now I've got you sad..."
"Nah, I'm good. Sides, I get to be in your arms."
Yanfei gave a noise between a scoff and a laugh. "Was this your plan all along, Hu?"
"Who, me? Making a long-term plan? Who do you take me for?" even still, she laughed her beautiful laugh, and Yanfei couldn't help but join in.
Maybe that little zombie was right. Life goes on.
And yet, they never will. But hey, if they have each other, eternity sounds that much more wonderful.
...sssso the last funeral parlor director was in fact Hu Tao’s grandfather, and she did become director at the age of 13...
But some other things I can note: Hu Tao’s embrace of life could have been from none other than her grandfather telling her "Live in life, die in death. Follow your heart, do what you can."
So of course, life became her passion and her passion became her Pyro Vision :)
๑ [ 20 ] 'veronica open the door' level kinda crazy
tw: a creep | wc: 1k  if you haven’t read the note from the last update, pls do
Tumblr media
the last one to arrive was surprisingly xiangling herself, mere minutes after hu tao had arrived. xingqiu and you arrived together after running into each other in the library.
"but it doesn't count!" xiangling slams her bag down the table as hu tao grins at her. "my professor dismissed us late!"
"but there weren't any conditions," xingqiu replies. "you simply said, 'late comer pays for everything'."
"ha! well, this is my dad's restaurant. he won't make me pay a single cent!" she huffs triumphantly before sitting herself across from you. as if on cue, one of the waiters arrived at your table, setting your orders on the table — xingqiu ordered for xiangling, you ordered for hu tao.
"uhm, ms. xiangling, your dad said this'll be 2,000 mora in total and that if you don't pay, you can help the staff wash the dishes."
"EXCUSE ME?"
long story short, xiangling was grumbling as she marched her way to the cashier and pulled out some cash. hu tao, who sat in front of xingqiu, off-handedly comments, "it's just 2,000 mora, not like we made her pay funeral fees," in which both you and xingqiu gave her an odd look.
"so what's got you all freaked out last night."
you can't help but find it amusing, so you let a small chuckle. "well, i have an ex. his name is haruki. i dated him for a short while when me and hu tao first came here. he lived on the floor below us, and was a kind neighbor –"
"at first."
you nod at hu tao as an acknowledgement.
"at first. he was a great boyfriend. almost too good to be true. he's sweet and he always puts me first over everything. but it didn't take long for it to get overbearing, for it to feel like he sees me more as an object he owns rather than a girlfriend. long story short, he got really possessive and he always lost his mind whenever i go out with friends. he particularly hated hu tao a lot. it wasn't only until he asked me not to be friends with her anymore did i finally snap.
i broke up with him and i made sure i was in a public place so he couldn't do anything about it. surprisingly, he let me off quite easily but even then i can still feel his presence, if you get what i mean…"
you catch a glance at xiangling, who looks like all the gears in her head are turning as her brows furrow. "his presence… you mean he was stalking you?"
"yeah, pretty much."
hu tao licked her lips before talking with a tone as bitter as the coffee she drinks. "we tried reporting it, but police say we don't have tangible evidence, that staring is harmless, that yn might have given him the wrong idea. the best they could offer was a restraining order… and you know how that ends up."
you sigh aloud, suddenly feeling the weight on the world on your shoulders as your heart constricts. you feel stuffy and you can't breathe.
"i'm sorry… i'm – this must be so heavy to tell you guys – i just realized that now, we can stop if you want –"
"yn." you've never seen xiangling look as serious as she did now. "we're here to become aware of the situation, to make sure this bastard never even breathes in the same building as you. don't say sorry, okay?"
you feel warmth radiating on the back of your hand and you look down to see xingqiu's hand atop your own.
you nod, slowly, before shooting both your friends a teary but appreciative smile. you take a steady breath to calm your fast-beating heart down.
"he was… from what i remember he still ended up in jail anyway but for a whole different reason. i forgot why but he was in prison for a year or two, and now he's out, i guess. i didn't want to think it was him, back when i felt uncomfortable sitting in my own car that night of the meeting but it was such a familiar feeling that i got so scared, i was lucky i didn't get into any accidents on the way to the dorms. i wanted to think i was being paranoid but…"
you pulled out his texts, placing them down the table.
"oh, so he's 'veronica open the door' level kinda crazy."
you don't know whether to laugh or to cringe but what came out your lips definitely didn't sound like a laugh.
"look what you did!" xingqiu exclaims, xiangling lets out a pained groaned. he must've kicked her underneath the table. "the joke wasn't funny, stupid! this isn't anime tiktok! this is real life!"
hu tao clears her throat, which effectively silences the table in order for you to speak again. you reach forward to pocket your phone.
"the only ones who knew about haruki are hu tao and xiao. xiao because… while we were still in our getting to know stage, i was still kinda suffering from the trauma. he was super understanding, surprisingly and he knew what to do. so yeah, xiao would –"
"that fucker is the only one who can calm her down from a panic attack. i never could for some reason, even if xiao taught me how he does it," hu tao grumbles as she crosses her arms, obviously not too keen on the information she shared. "to think i found that sweet. look at that motherfucker now."
you nodded along silently, reminiscing on the times he'd hold your hand and guide it to his beating heart. the gentleness of his other hand as he held your cheek, urging your eyes to meet his. his eyes – oh, his eyes. how soft and reassuring it was that you knew, you just knew, that with him around, no danger will ever get to you.
you see a flash of pink.
a shade of pink that haunts your nightmares and robs you off sleep for days, too scared to shut your eyes in fear you'll see him in your dreams but this time you'll never wake up –
too bad xiao isn't here, huh?
haruki stands across the street with a smile that couldn't mean any good. condescending eyes dead set on your shivering figure. he was moving his lips the moment he realized he's caught your attention.
what he says sent shivers down your spine and made you call 911. distantly, you hear your friends asking what was wrong.
did you miss me, yn?
Tumblr media
GOOD 4 U » previous : masterlist : next
๑ summary — lesson learned! never challenge hu tao when you're drunk bc you'll just lose and now you have to post a thread of all your exes as songs from olivia rodrigo's hit debut album sour … or: "yn desperate much!" "yn still loves xiao? yikes! doesn't he already have someone new?" "stop ruining my relationship u bitch!"
a confidence boost
them just trying to make you feel better
kaeya, diluc, zhongli, childe, xiao, kazuha, and thoma from genshin impact <3
Tumblr media
He'd be so cocky about it. Probably a little pissed at you for thinking about yourself like that.
I feel like he wouldn't have to ask if you feel this way, he'd just know and try to help you in anyway possible.
Laying in bed with you, he'd pepper you all over, after every kiss whispering a reason he loves you so much.
" You're so pretty hun.. Forget all about the negatives and just focus on my words and praises, yeah? "
Tumblr media
He's a little clueless at first, but after a few times overhearing your self hate while walking by the bathroom, he gets the idea.
He'd give you little gifts and treats, maybe a bouquet of Windwheel Asters or some Tea Break Pancakes to lift your mood.
Tracing your insecurity with his finger, he would kiss it softly ( if you let him ofc ), whispering how it fits you just fine for you and there's nothing wrong with it.
" Mmmm, worrying over something so little hm? It's so goregous on you love.. It fits your physique so well. "
Tumblr media
He knows. Barbatos knows how he does but he knows. He knows when you're down, he knows when you're having a good day, he been living for thousands and thousands of years after all.
He takes off work, of course Hu Tao doesn't mind, and gives you Glaze Lilies to make you feel better. Zhongli also doesn't mind making dishes for you and kissing those insecurities away.
He mumbles sweet nothings in your ear while you both fall asleep. Most of the time, his coaxing drifts you off to bed after 10 minutes but he continues until he finds himself unconscious in your arms.
" So pretty.. I'm so lucky to have someone like you.. You make me smile everyday.. Never forget that, you're worth the world to me. "
Tumblr media
HES SO SINCERE ABOUT IT, IT HURTS. And he knows it hurts too. He wants to make sure that you never feel like you're not enough or you're ugly ever.
Look, Childe's arguably one of the richest characters. He'd spoil you like the world's gonna end tomorrow. Giving you plushies, flowers, candy, dinners, anything you desire, he can find a way to acquire.
He's like Kaeya in a way, peppering your face in light kisses and looking at you with a smile that replays in your mind over and over.
" You can't be thinking you're ugly lovely..! You're so goregous and cute- Aaaawhh, I just can't get enough of you sometimes!~ "
Tumblr media
He thinks of confidence as karma, opposites between the two help him define it pretty well. If you get too much karma, you be negatively affected. If you get no confidence, you'll be negatively affected the same.
He's still like Diluc however, a little more on the clueless side once the situation occurred, he handled it pretty well though.
Xiao's one of the more straightforward guys, pulling you up to a mirror and making you list good things about yourself, listing some himself too.
" C'mon, I want to hear you say it. You're goregous. Very captivating in my opinion. Now, I need to hear you say it and understand. Shouldn't be so hard; or is it? "
Tumblr media
He's so understanding about it, having struggled with self confidence himself too. He knows how it feels like to think you're not enough, and he hates how you feel like he did years ago.
He honestly wants to do anything for you to get your confidence back, asking the Captain of the Crux Fleet herself for advice, in which she happily obligated to help without delay.
He would make a poem all about you and say it when you two were alone on the ship. Moonlight making his silver hair shine as did the ocean, kissing your knuckles like you were a princess in a fairytale.
" My love, you're so wonderful, it makes my heart melt everytime your mouth curves up into a smile, don't ever stop, alright? "
Tumblr media
He finds out surprisingly quickly, having dealt with Ayaka when she isn't feeling so good. He's takes it a lot more serious when it's about you though.
He takes you anywhere you want to go and buys anything you'd like. You want a kimono? Name the color and he'll get it. Some dango? He'll go get it fresh.
Thoma's not shy about boosting your confidence, he'll even do it in public if he has too! You're worth so much to him, a little embarrassment isn't too bad, right?
" You did so well baby..~! You're so cool and talenteddddddddd.. I get lost staring at you just go doing your job! "
ok give me the skinny on HuXiao--
BRO I KNEW ANON WASN’T AUTOMATIC I’M SO SORRY 😭😭😭😭😭
But. As you wish!
Now, I wouldn’t say they’re my number one OTP, there are definitely other ships that could make more sense and do feel free to correct anywhere I’m wrong about them. That being said, I don’t ship on a whim very often, I like Reasons to ship.
So here are my own observations on what drew me to the ship!
1. Symbolism
First and foremost, they’re both represented with butterflies (Xiao’s story quest was called Butterfly’s Dream iirc?)/they have similar symbolism. And the meaning behind butterflies is very interesting, at least in Chinese culture which Liyue is based on.
Butterflies represent freedom and beauty or soul, but also death and (pulling this straight from what I found on Google) vulnerability of life.
I like when things have dual meaning like this. Where it can represent both positive and negative/heavier things. And stepping into headcanon territory (I can touch on this later) I think it could play a lot into their characters. Hu Tao sees/takes on the positive symbolism of the butterfly, whereas Xiao takes on the darker side.
Both contrasting and matching, if that makes any sense at all?
2. Dynamic
What really first got my interest, was taking a peak at their voice lines when I first got into the game and finished their quests (and at the time I didn’t have either of them, I was a wee AR-Can’t-Remember-But-Definitely-Not-Experienced, unrelated) and that’s when I realized their potential.
Here we have Hu Tao, usually the one being off-putting/teasing others, seemingly getting flustered when Xiao is brought up. That alone could likely be explained, but it just seems odd to me that, when compared with her musings about Zhongli and her remarks about Qiqi and Keqing (who seems to intimidate her on some level), she’s far more put off when asked about Xiao.
Either he terrifies her, which, given how she’s not really fazed by much of anything and still wants to mess with Keqing despite being concerned she’d hit her with her sword, seems unlikely. Or it’s out of respect, more likely, OR she has a soft spot for him.
Likewise with Xiao, he says her liveliness is irritating, but likes her sense of humor. That we won’t have to worry about her ‘turning into one of the boring mortals/humans’ (I can’t remember which one he used and honestly I feel that’s paraphrasing already).
It seems to me like, if it was explored more, they have the potential to bring out different (and interesting, but certainly not bad) sides of each other.
I’m a huge fan of upbeat, energetic characters x mellow/reserved characters. They remind me of one of my favorite anime ships (which I will not bring up because I don’t want it showing up in the tag and it’s barely related, ahem MOVING ON). Feisty, eccentric girlboss x traumatized and quiet man that is soft for a select few people/1 girl? Yes.
3. Overall Potential
Overall, I just think they have a lot of potential to be a mixture of a cute but also emotionally heavy ship. They could balance each other out quite well, in my opinion.
With Xiao, Hu Tao could learn to be a little more grounded and…shall we say, sensitive? I wouldn’t say he would completely strip her of her humor, no he enjoys her humor after all, but I think being around him would teach her to read the room more. When her humor is right for the situation and easing the tension, and when the tension can’t be resolved with that. More tactful and open, less running around heavy topics with a joke.
With Hu Tao, Xiao could develop a lot too. I think she could help him connect with life easier, provide some sort of peace from his pain. Basically show him a lighter side of life (yes I know Hu Tao runs a funeral parlor which doesn’t exactly bring sunshine and daisies to mind bUT I’m getting to that). Show him that mortals live complex lives too, with traditions and spirituality.
Based on his death lines, I’m going to assume Xiao would see death as retribution for his actions or a release from his agony. Whereas Hu Tao sees it as another necessary, natural step in life. I think perhaps Hu Tao could help him come to terms with that a bit better, perhaps? Something to that effect?
So, in conclusion, these are just my own opinions! At the very least, I think they could have a great platonic relationship as well!
Thank you for the ask!
READER WEARING S/O'S CLOTHES
★ Includes: Zhongli, Kaeya, Xiao, GN reader, fluff
★ Word Count: 1083
★ Master List
Tumblr media
ZHONGLI
★ He had been running late with his work at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlour due to a sudden new order that Hu Tao had insisted on taking on, so when he arrived back home, he found the house strangely quiet.
★ Another thing he noticed when he hung up his coat was that his spare coat (of the exact same design except for the spot where his vision would go being empty) was missing.
“Y/N?” Zhongli called out. It was unlike you to not greet him when he returned. Usually, you would pounce on him with a hug the second he entered your abode.
He peered into the kitchen and living room to search for you but came out empty-handed. Before checking the rest of your home, he called your name again, only to be greeted with silence once more.
The last room he came to was the bedroom where he found you curled up on top of the sheets. You wore his spare coat on backwards, so your arms were through the sleeves and you could hug the rest of it as if your partner were there with you.
Had you really missed him this much?
For a while, he watched your chest gently rise and fall, entranced by your beauty as if you were a fairytale passed down for centuries that the archon hadn’t gotten a grasp of yet. You were alluring, making it hard for Zhongli to stay away.
Attempting to not wake you, and failing miserably, he removed his coat and retrieved a blanket to put on top of you. Why did you need his coat when he could be here to provide the real thing?
“Zhongli?” You asked, confused as to who was moving you, ready to attack an intruder at any moment.
“It’s alright. It’s me, my dear. Please, try to get some rest.”
Tumblr media
KAEYA
★ You were confused when your partner hadn’t turned up on time for a meeting with Jean early that morning.
★ Both of you had known that this gathering was taking place for a very long time as you were reminded constantly, but you couldn’t help the worry that filled you when he wasn’t there.
Kaeya was in a rush. He had woken up late from drinking too much last night at Angel’s Share, so now he had to suffer the consequences of having no breakfast so he could make it to the meeting at a considerable time. The only thing holding him back was that he couldn’t find the heap of fur that sat on his shoulder.
He searched high and low, thinking of all the places it could be. Under the bed? No. Hanging out to dry from being washed? Still no. It was nowhere.
Sighing deeply and accepting the fact his ensemble would be incomplete, he left his house and ran to the meeting, bracing himself for the scolding he would get from Jean.
“Kaeya,” the Acting GrandMaster greeted him, her hand frozen in the air as if she were halfway through talking about something. “How nice of you to join us.”
He lowered his head in shame. “I’m sorry that this happened, it won’t ever happen again.” The Cavalry Captain wasn’t focusing completely on his words as his gaze lingered on you.
You sat at your usual seat with your legs bunched up to your chest and you hugged something. But what were you hugging? His missing fluff shawl. He couldn’t find it in himself to be angry with you, not when you looked so content and cosy with it in your arms.
As Jean waved her hand for him to sit down, he came up behind you to whisper in your ear, “you little thief. Trust me when I say I will pay you back for making me later than I should have been.”
★ If you want to borrow his clothes in the future, please make sure to inform him so he doesn’t get confused.
Tumblr media
XIAO
★ You could tell it was going to be a very warm day from the temperature yesterday, so wearing something cool was your top priority.
★ As you looked in your wardrobe, you found that you had no clothes for the occasion. You preferred the colder weather, meaning all you really had were trousers and long-sleeved shirts.
★ That’s when you eyed your partner’s small section of the wardrobe. As the adeptus only had a few items of clothing, saying that having too many possessions was a mortal tendency, and what he wore was a thin, turtle-necked tank top, it was perfect for the occasion.
You walked down the stairs from the top floor of the Wangshu Inn where you lived, waving at Verr and greeting her good morning, spying Xiao in the kitchen with Smiley, waiting for some almond tofu to be ready. As there were no people around just yet, he felt comfortable in coming down to the main parts of the Inn, making it much easier to find him.
“Xiao!” You called bounding down the last few stairs. “About my commissions today, I-”
“Is that my shirt?” His arms were crossed but he didn’t appear to be angry, only confused.
You rubbed the back of your neck sheepishly. “I believe so, and besides, it’s our shirt now.” Sticking out your tongue playfully, you tried to remember what you were talking about.
“Have you not got any of your own? I’m certain you do.” He took a few steps towards you.
You frowned, sensing that he was about to tell you to go and take it off. “I do, but not for how hot it’s supposed to be today!”
“It doesn’t even fit you well.” Xiao pointed out, his gaze on how baggy the armholes were on you. As you didn’t have as much muscle as the adeptus did, it did appear to be a bit odd.
“Please, Xiao,” you begged, sticking out your lower lip and feigning a sad expression. “But it smells like you too.”
Smiley tapped his shoulder to pass him his plate of almond tofu while your partner rolled his eyes. “Fine, but today and today only.”
★ The grin that replaced your dejected frown made his chest feel incredibly warm for some reason. At least this way, anyone who passed you would know that you’re his.
★ Little did you know that Xiao later had another shirt tailor-made with the same design, the only difference being the size so it fit you better
“So what were you saying about your commissions?”
I really loved your ghost fic with Xiao. But it left me curious to have a second part in which they finally find the way to communicate. Whenever is just to say goodbye and having reader going to the afterlife or getting stuck there forever in an eternal solitary pseudo-company together is up to you, I just want to see them talk 😭
awww, thank you! I'm so glad you loved it (though I am sorry for the sad feelings haha). And I was really struggling to find a way to end that orginal story in the beginning, which is the reason why it ended that way oops. Well, now here is the follow up for it. Compared to the small bit I wrote for Xiao... I mean not even compared to it, this is the longest fic I've posted on here so far? Ah, well. I just had so much fun with it.
Idea/Prompt: a follow up to Xiaos part in this post
Genre: a bit of Angst and Hurt, more comforting than the first part, but if the ending is a happy one is up to you!
Characters: Xiao (Zhongli as side character, mention of Hu Tao, Verr Goldot, a new character I made up that did not get a name)
Format: Text
Word count: 5593
Content warning: mentions of blood, spoiler-y for the second act of Zhonglis story quest and the same spoilers warnings as for the OG post! this is not proof read, I started writing this at midnight and its 5am now ahha fml
The Ghost of you Part II. - To the end
yes we are keeping the mcr names
“Xiao”, he felt an uneasiness in his body upon hearing his name. Where was he? Looking around, Xiao saw he stood in a field of flowers. When did he come here? He had no recollection of it at all. Confused he furrows is brows, worry filling his heart and then- “Xiao.” There it was again, that voice calling out to him. Speaking his name softly, voice filled with affection. Where did it came from? He walked around the field, no end of it in sight, looking for that voice calling out to him. The longer he searched for it, the more his heart was filled with dread. “Xiao.” This time the voice came from behind him and when he turned around, he saw you, holding your hand out to him and smiling. “(Y/N)”, Xiao looked at you in disbelief. Was it really you standing in front of him? Your laugh pulled him out of his trance. “Xiao, why are you standing there like a pillar? Come, take my hand,” and at that you wiggled it a bit, signalling him that you're waiting for him to take it. “(Y/N),” Xiao repeated, standing still and looking at your hand, then to you. “What are you doing here?”. Again, you laughed as if what he said was the silliest thing you ever heard. “What do you mean by that? Xiao,” you shook your head and then you shoot him a bright, warm smile. “You wanted to come here, remember? Now come, take my hand and dance with me before the music stops.” Dance? Music? At first Xiao did not understand what you meant, but then he heard it. In the distance, the low sounds of a flute, a sweet melody that sounded strange but all too familiar. “Xiao”, he heard you whisper his name, speaking so gently. Slowly, he was still a bit hesitant, he reached out for your hand, taking it in his. A smile came across your face at the touch of your hands. With a swift motion Xiao was pulled into your arms, you both at first staying still in that embrace. “Xiao, lets dance, okay?”. With that you both started to waltz around the field, Xiao not knowing how he knew to dance like this, but somehow, he did. The dread that started to spread in his chest earlier was now gone, replaced by the feeling of love he felt for you. Still, there was something tugging at his mind, telling him something was amiss here. It felt familiar, yes. However, it also seemed to be strange to him at the same time. Though Xiao tried to push the nagging feeling away, wanting only to enjoy this pleasant moment with you. Which is why he at first didn’t notice how the sky darkened above them nor that the music had stopped a while ago. As you both stopped to dance, still holding each other in your arms, he heard you call out to him again. “Xiao”, the sound of your voice was filled with pain and when he looked at you in his arms the light behind your eyes was gone, your face stiff and emotionless. At the sight of your dead eyes, he wanted to part from the embrace, but he couldn’t let you go. Xiao saw the blood, saw the bruises and suddenly he was on his knees again, you are laying in his arms. He wanted to cry, wanted to say your name but he couldn’t. It was as if there was no air to breath so he could speak. And then – “Xiao.” His name. “Xiao.” Again. “Xiao.” Over and over again he heard how his name was spoken, but with every whisper of his name the voice became more distorted, louder. Until he cowered in pain at the sound of it, wanting it to stop, wishing for it to stop. “Xiao”.
With that Xiao woke up, his body covered in cold sweat and his breathing erratic. Another nightmare of you, another nightmare of something he wished the both of you could’ve done but never did – because of his shortcomings. Xiao sat atop of a rock, looking over the forest in which your ghost continued to wander aimlessly around. He had been watching you for a few weeks now, trying to figure out what kept you here and how he could help you. However, Xiao was clueless at what could be the cause of this. It was clear to him now that he couldn’t help you, he needed to find someone who could. Looking down at the forest, seeing your ghost wander around between the trees, he softly whispered. “I will be back soon, I won’t leave you again for long, I promise.” There weren’t many people Xiao could ask for help. Back when you were alive Xiao wasn’t the most social, wanting to keep his distance from humans. After you died this habit of his, avoiding others, only worsened. So, the only person Xiao could think of to ask for help in this matter was the same who saved him from his servitude as a bloodhound. Zhongli spend most of the last hundred years among the people of Liyue, but for a few decades now he lived in a remote house. It was now the door of said house Xiao knocked on, knowing that although he could easily enter the house, Zhongli preferred it for him to knock. “Ah, Xiao, it is nice to see you,” Zhongli greeted the adeptus. As Xiao entered the house and followed the tall man into his kitchen, it was a standard practice of Zhongli to drink a tea with anyone who visited, he couldn’t stop to notice that the notebooks scattered around the house grew in number. “So,” Zhongli began his question, “what brings you here? From your troubled look I can tell you didn’t come for the tea or my company.” With that Xiao didn’t waste any time on more formalities, explaining his predicament to the former Geo-Archon. “Mmmh, I see,” he replied, taking a sip from his cup. “I fear I might not be much of help in this case, although I have some knowledge on the topic of the human afterlife, I can’t think of a solution to this. However, it might be best to go ask Hu Tao on advice, as she is way more… let’s say, perceptive when it comes to the dead.” How bothersome, Xiao thought at the mention of Hu Tao. “Zhongli, Hu Tao is long dead”, was all Xiao could say. It happened more frequently now that Zhongli seemed to forget things, small ones but also important pieces of information and this filled Xiao with unease. He didn’t like it that the erosion of Zhongli already was set in motion, thinking about that one-day Xiao might have to face him in battle should he lose all sense of self and sanity. Neither did Zhongli enjoy slowly losing his memories of the past – although he wrote down as much as possible, it bothered him that he had to even rely on his notebooks. “Ah,” Zhongli replied, setting his cup down on the table and with a troubled look, “I seem to have forgotten something again. Would you please help my memory, when did this happen?” “One thousand years might have already passed,” Xiao saw how much it stirred Zhongli up that he had forgotten the passing of a friend. “She had a good life, right? I’m sorry for asking, but I somehow can’t seem to remember much about her later life.” “Yes,” Xiao answered, thinking about the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. There weren’t many humans he tolerated or even enjoyed being around, but Hu Tao was one Xiao always was fond of. She was also the one at the Parlor that day you died, when Xiao came in with your dead body in his arms, he hoped he might find Zhongli maybe he could do something about it, but… Xiao knew there was nothing anyone could do. Hu Tao understood his pain, without a word she showed him where to put your body and prepared your funeral, without even asking for a single Mora. “Then, “Zhongli pulled Xiao out of his thoughts, “maybe you might find help with the new Director, her family always had some knowledge about that human afterlife that’s even a mystery to me.” With that
Xiao said his goodbye to Zhongli and made his way to Liyue. The city of Liyue changed over the last thousand years a lot, but the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor was still one of the constants in the city. Xiao couldn’t remember the last time he visited the city, though it must have been a few hundred years ago for sure. He just never really liked it and since, what the humans called a ‘industrial revolution’, the city was even more crowded and overwhelming for Xiao. “Welcome to the Wangshen Funeral Parlor, how may I help you?”, a young person greeted Xiao as he set foot into the building. At the enthusiastic way the person greeted him as he entered a funeral home, Xiao was sure this was one of Hu Taos descendants. He barley could imagine anyone else be so happy surrounded by death. “Are you the director?”, Xiao asked in his usual stern voice. “The 107th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, yep that’s me!” “I may need your assistance.” “Wonderful, I’m always happy to help- oh well, not happy as I am happy for your loss, my condolences by the way, but in happy as I am happy that I can be of help. So, what do you need help with? We have some wonderful new coffins out of a wonderful wood, really they are also very comfortable, not that comfort is that important for someone who’s dead, but I thought it might be also of interest to say that they are really comfort-“, ah yes, Xiao thought, definitely related to Hu Tao. “I don’t need a coffin”, he interrupted the young director. “Oh, um… what can I help with then?”, they asked and then Xiao explained everything to them. At first, he wasn’t sure of the director would be of help, most humans have long forgotten the existence of the gods and adepti, as most of them died or lived a life among humanity, but sure enough the director did turn out to be well versed with the forgotten knowledge of the world. “So, you say the ghost is just roaming around those woods? Nothing else happens?”, the director asked, sitting in their chair in the back office of the Parlor, and they had their hand on their chin, looking like they were thinking about something “Will you be of help now or why do you keep repeating the same useless questions?”, Xiao became a bit impatient now. He just needed to know if someone was able to help you. Without even answering the question the director stood up from the chair and walked towards a bookshelf, pulling a big and old looking book out and opening it up on the table. “Mmmh, from what you’ve described it seems to be nothing to grave, they don’t seem to have become an evil spirit just yet, moreover it seems like they are just one who got lost, though it is surprising that after such a long time the spirit didn’t just turned into something malicious. Normally for most human ghosts it takes a few hundred years until they go insane and well, you know all too well what then happens with an evil spirt I guess.” Xiao was aware what happened to the evils in the world, because it was mostly him. Though he didn’t like to think about it what it would have meant if you- no, he didn’t even want to finish that thought. “How do I help them?”, he didn’t care about any of the other information, he just wanted to find a way to help you. The director pointed at a passage in the book in front of them and continued. “What we have to do is easy if you think about it, I just need something that belonged to the deceased they held dear, a few materials like Qingxin flowers, around twenty should be enough, and the next part is more tricky if you don’t know the deceased that well, which shouldn’t be a problem here, but we need to, well you need to, speak some words that you know are important to them. A story or something like that, sometimes even the voice of a loved one is enough to help to guide the spirits back. Though I will definitely have to accompany that spirit to the border, just to make sure it won’t happen again, you know getting lost, because I can’t guarantee this method will help a second time.” Xiao was quiet. Something that belonged to them, when the director said
those words, his hand immediately flew up to the necklace with the small pendant he wore. Xiao wasn’t the most adept with words, he rather enjoyed listening to what you had to say to him most of the time. He enjoyed the sound of your voice; it was so much more pleasant than his own. One day, Xiao still remembers it so well, your voice said something he did not expect for you to say. “Xiao, I love you.” It took him by surprise, standing on the balcony of the Wangshu Inn, watching the night sky… he suspected that you liked him that way, he did too. Oh, but how he hoped that you wouldn’t say anything about it, like he planned too. Your openness scared him. The idea of being loved scared him, for what was there to love about him? He didn’t want to be a burden to you, his karmic debt, his burden – he feared it would all just make you hate him one day if he let you see it all. That night, after you said these words, Xiao disappeared without a word from your sight. He wasn’t far away, but he wished back then that he teleported out of his hearing range. The sobs that came from you after his departure broke Xiaos heart. After this he avoided you, which wasn’t too hard because you did the same thing too. But with every day that passed when Xiao didn’t see you, hear your voice, his heart grew heavier. Asking himself if he really did do the right thing. Verr Goldet approached Xiao a few weeks after your confession, inquiring why now you didn’t come to the Inn anymore. Xiao did not answer her question, but Verr was a smart woman and at the look in his eyes she understood. “Don’t give up someone you love, only because you are scared of the love you both feel for each other, Xiao”, was all she said. This was the final push for Xiao to finally get over himself and embrace the feelings he felt for you. He didn’t know anymore where the idea came from, but he decided to gift you a handmade necklace along side his confession. Xiao was scared that it might be too late for telling you that he felt the same. However, he knew he had to do it and he wanted to give you something that showed you how he felt too. So Xiao collected the material all around from Liyue, creating a metal necklace and using a small piece of Cor Lapis, your favourite you told him once, as the pendant. With that he looked for you, finding you sitting in the middle of a flower field. “(Y/N)”, he said, stopping himself from continuing when he saw how you jumped at your own name. “Xiao! You scared me!”, you quickly stood up and turned around to him. Xiao wasn’t the most adept with words, he enjoyed listening to you – but you stayed quiet after facing him and you kept quiet when Xiao came closer. “I-“, he began, but unable to speak the words he so wished you to hear from him. Instead, he took your hand and put the necklace in it. “I- I made you this,” was all he could say, feeling how fast his heart pounced in his chest. The look in your eyes, Xiao saw the love you felt for him in them. “Xiao, I-“, he saw how you viewed the necklace in your hand, tears starting to form at the corners of your eyes. Before you were able to finish the sentence or let the tears fall down, Xiao took your face in his hands and kissed you. Yes, he wasn’t the most adept with words, but he learned that he could show you how much he loved you in other ways.
From that day on you wore that necklace every single day, never taking it off since Xiao but it on you after the shared kiss. You joked that it was a physical representation of your love for each other, though Xiao felt like you actually meant it. And somehow it really was. Xiao remembered how that necklace was still around you neck when he took your body to Hu Tao, he remembered that it was covered with your blood. He didn’t even think about taking it off you. It was Hu Tao who gave him that necklace after your burial and since then he hadn’t taken it off. It was the last thing he had of you, the last reminder of your love for each other and every night after your death, when he cowered in pain because of his karmic debt, the cool touch of the stone on his skin helps him to stay sane. Just like the flute he heard even long before he met you.
When Xiao and the director arrived at the forest, they collected the flowers on their way, he could see your ghost again. Walking around, calling for him. His heart breaks every time he had to witness your suffering. “Okay, we have the flowers… do you have something that belonged to them with you, Xiao?”, the director asked, and Xiao shifted his focus from you to them. Slowly he took the necklace off, feeling somehow so vulnerable without it, and gave it to the director. “You know where they start their walk and end it right?”. Yes, Xiao knew that. He had watched over your ghost for the past couple of weeks and noticed that you were walking in circles, without even knowing so it seemed, starting from the place you died and ending up there again. Although your body was buried in another part of Liyue and already long gone, taken back by nature, you stayed here. Where you died. Xiao wished he had come here earlier. Together with the director Xiao made his way to the place where your life ended and your endless suffering in a sort of limbo started, laying down the flowers and the necklace. “And how is that supposed to help them now?”, he asked, not sure how any of this will work. “Like I said, we put down something that belonged to them and was important because they will gravitate to the feelings still connected with that object. The flowers are helping, because they built a bridge between the living realm and what state they are in. Now we just need some words that they have a connection with, in the past it used to be certain prayers because people kept using them a lot, but you know it honestly doesn’t matter what you say, it just needs to be connected to them in some way. Maybe their favourite story or a lullaby, there are many possibilities.” “A lullaby, huh,” this was something Xiao hadn’t thought about in a long time. “Xiao, are you alright?”, he heard your voice from across the dark room. It was the middle of the night, normally he would be out killing monsters, but for tonight you were able to make him sleep with you. When you found out that he never sleeps you were shocked, though he tried to calm you saying that an adeptus didn’t need to sleep. “Maybe you don’t need to,” you told him with a stern look, hands on your hips, “but it will be good for you too, believe me!”. And somehow, after each of you confessed the feelings for the other, you were able to make him sleep next to you some nights. Just for that night his karmic debt plagued Xiao. He sat in front of your window, trying to keep his distance from you, not wanting to disturb your sleep and he didn’t want to worry you. “Xiao?”, you asked again, but instead of an answer Xiao growled in pain. Suddenly you were beside him. “Don’t”, he said through gritted teeth as you tried to touch him. “You’re in pain, let me help you.” He saw your worried painted face, ashamed that you had to see him like this. “It’s fine, I’m used to it. Don’t worry.” “Don’t tell me not to worry when I see the person I love most suffering,” and with that you took his hand. “Please Xiao, let me help you.” Even when he wasn’t in such a weakened state it was hard for Xiao to refuse you and now – all he wished for was your comforting touch. You led Xiao back to bed and when you noticed how he had a fever you quickly prepared a cold and wet towel for him. As you both lied down in bed you took Xiao in your arms. “I don’t know if this will help,” you began after a short amount of silence, “but when I was a child my mother always used to sing this lullaby to help me fall asleep. She even continued singing it when we were older and got sick… it always helps me feel better and at ease, shall I sing it to you?”. Xiao only gave a small nod, not believing it would help when you sang that song for the first time. But it did, you soothed his pain and helped him fall asleep. From that night on you would sing it more often to Xiao, he never asked for it but you somehow always knew when he wished to hear it, especially on the nights when is karmic debt caused him great pain. That lullaby became
another sign of how much you loved each other – the necklace was Xiaos gift, the song yours.
Now there he stood, in this forest that once was just a plain field, the flowers and necklace to his feet singing that lullaby. Xiao never sang it when you were alive, he never sang at all. No matter how much you begged him to sing for you, this was something he always refused to do. Thinking about how beautiful your voice sounded, he never wanted to soil this song with his voice.
It felt like you screamed for Xiao for hours and hours on end, but your voice doesn’t hurt. Where were you? What had happened? In your head you repeated and repeated the last things you could remember again and again. You were walking in the fields, wanting to collect some crystal flies for a commission. Then you remembered that you were attacked, who or what attacked you slipped your mind. However, the fight was tedious and hard… and then you called for Xiao. That’s it. That’s all you could remember. But where was he? Where was Xiao? Didn’t he say he would always come when you called out for him? Why didn’t he come now? You feared that he was still angry with you, though you didn’t know anymore why he even should be angry with you in the first place. The two of you had a fight yes, but… was that it? You spend so much time apart, did he just decide you weren’t worth his time anymore? Did he maybe stop loving you? Those thoughts filled you with dread and you wanted to cry, cry at the thought of Xiao not loving you anymore, but somehow you couldn’t. So you kept calling for him, over and over again. “Xiao,” you screamed. “XIAO!” And then you heard something, at first you weren’t sure what it was, but there was a noise. You stopped calling out for him, trying to focus on where the sound came from, following the direction. It got louder and – was that Xiao singing? The closer you came towards the sound, towards Xiaos voice singing that lullaby… your mothers’ lullaby, the lullaby that became yours and Xiaos. Which he always refused to sing, no matter how much you pleaded. The closer you came you started to remember the things that happened more clearly. How you didn’t want to call for Xiao at first that day, how something hit you in your stomach and how you felt the blood gusher out of you. Yes, you remember how you couldn’t stand anymore and all that was on your mind was Xiao, you wanted to see him again. Just once. You wanted to tell him how sorry you were, how stupid it was for you to fight and how stupid it was to wait this long to call for him. You wanted to say this to him, all of it. But all you remember you said was his name. “Xiao.”
He stopped singing, his head flying up seeing your ghost stand right in front of him. His name. You just said his name. “Xiao,” you said it again, this time he heard you say it clearly and you looked right at him, not through. “(Y/N)”, it came more out as whisper. This is what he wanted. He wanted you to see him, to get out of that limbo, but why does it still hurt as much? “Ah, seems like it worked, great!”, the director interrupted the moment, looking at Xiao and the ghost of you. “I ummm- I’m gonna leave the two of you alone for a while, so you can talk things out, say your goodbyes, yadayadayada.” With that the director walked away and it was just you and Xiao.
“I-“, Xiao began, but somehow his voice failed him. What was there to say? What should he say? “Xiao,” he heard the hesitance in your voice. “Xiao, I am dead, right?”. He couldn’t stand looking at you, his eyes avoiding yours as he gave his short answer. “Yes.” “I see,” you replied quietly. You slowly started to remember the nights you stood on the field, waiting for him to come. “Why,” you weren’t sure if you wanted an answer to your question, “why didn’t you come? After, you know… I- I waited for you. I called you. Why-?”. “I felt guilty. It was my fault, if I just hadn’t tried to push you away again, then you wouldn’t have died, I’m so sorry,” his voice was so quiet, but you could hear how he tried to hold back the tears. “Xiao,” at hearing his name again he looked back at you, you now seeing the tears that pooled at the corner of his eyes. “It wasn’t your fault. I shouldn’t have pushed you… and I should have called for you earlier. But Xiao,” you saw how the tears started to fall down his face, “it wasn’t your fault.” He couldn’t hold it in any longer, Xiao fell to his knees, hands in his face and crying. “Please,” he sobbed. “Please, forgive me. I should have protected you that day, I should have come here earlier and see what was happening… please, forgive me.” You walked towards Xiao, reaching out your hand, wanting to touch him. Wanting to take him in your arms, but you couldn’t. It broke your heart. “Xiao, please, please look at me,” he did, his eyes red and filled with his tears. “There is nothing to ask for forgiveness for, you did nothing wrong Xiao. It’s alright. I’m sorry for leaving so soon, for running away that day we had this stupid fight. I don’t even know what it was about…”. “I don’t know either”, Xiao admitted and somehow you had to laugh a bit at that. None of you ever remembered why you fought even in the first place, all of this nearly felt so normal. But it wasn’t. Xiao wiped away the tears from his eyes and stood up again, this time to be able to face you. You looked just like he remembered, except for the see-through part but… your smile hasn’t changed. Even if this was a sad one. “Xiao, how much time has passed since I died?” That question surprised him. “Around…”, he was hesitant to tell you the truth. Should he really tell you? “Xiao,” and you looked at him and he knew that he couldn’t hide the truth. “A thousand years perhaps.” Thousand years, you thought. For thousand years he walked around with this guilt, for thousand years he kept that necklace that still was on the ground… for thousand years he lived his life, still mourning you it seemed. “Did you get over me?”. Again, another question he didn’t expect. Why were you asking him this? Did he get over you? “No, every single day since you died you were on my mind, I couldn’t forget you and I do not wish to. I can never get over you.” This wasn’t the answer you hoped for. “Xiao, I’ve been dead for thousand years. Even if I hadn’t died that day, I would have died on another one. Thousand years compared to what, sixty? Maybe seventy years if I had lived a full life is nothing. Humans are weak after all, aren’t we?”. You didn’t mean to stir him up with your last comment, it was more intended as a joke, alas a sad one, but somehow you struck a nerve within him. “No, they are not. I always said that, but I was wrong (Y/N). I don’t understand how you human can live your life, knowing that you will die, that those you love will inevitably die. How you can idly sit next to people you care about forgetting important things, things about themselves, struggle to remember who they are, seeing them die… and you move forward. I watched over you humans for such a long time, protecting you and I still- I don’t understand how. How can they love again? Where does the strength come from to keep moving forward?”, Xiao’s voice was full of pain, you heard it clear as day, seeing how tears rolled down his face again. You felt that there were even other things weighing heavy on him, not only you, but you knew that you couldn’t comfort him. That this was
something he needed to figure out himself. “Xiao, you will learn. You will understand it one day, it just takes time.” Your voice heavy with sadness and oh, how you wished you could take him in your arms, wipe his tears away and kiss him.
Before Xiao could reply anything in return the director disturbed the two of you again. “So, are you ready now?”, looking directly at you. “No, but I stayed here for far too long now, didn’t I?”, a sad smile coming across your face. You really didn’t want to leave, but you knew you couldn’t stay any longer. It was time. “I will come with you as far as I can,” Xiao had wiped his tears away and stood now right next to you. If you still had a body your shoulders would touch.
Xiao and the director accompanied you to the border of life and death in silence. Before you crossed it you looked at Xiao. He looked so sad, as if he was to lose you a second time. “I wish,” you heard him say, “that you could stay just a bit longer. I know it’s selfish, but I just wished you could have stayed by my side forever. But you can’t stay, and you shouldn’t.” “Xiao, I feel the same. I wish I could have spent eternity with you, but I can’t and it okay. I just want to ask you for one thing, one last promise before I go, okay?”. Xiao looked at you with a heavy heart. “Yes.” “Promise me you will try to find happiness for yourself again, okay? Promise me you will love again, please. Don’t stay alone.” Silently Xiao looked at you to then finally say “I promise.” “Thank you Xiao,” Archons, you wished you could take his hand. “Now then,” you said looking in the directions you had to go. “Time to go.” “(Y/N)”, you heard Xiao say before you left. “I love you.” “I love you too, Xiao.” As Xiao and the director left the border, he stayed quiet, the atmosphere being quite sombre. “Maybe,” the director pulled Xiao out of his thoughts, “there is nothing behind the border and they stopped existing completely. But maybe their soul will now find a way back to you, just in another way? Who knows,” and with that the director left. Xiao didn’t know if he believed that you would find a way back to him, but as it started to rain and as it fell down on his skin, Xiao felt now lighter as if a heavy burden was taken off of him. With that he started to move forward again.
