Ship game!
tagged by beloved auntie @vera-dauriac ! thank you <33 and as always, because i am incapable of just giving a short simple answer... lets go
OTP:
Carlos/Rodrigo AND Rodrigo/Philip. Putting them both because they need each other to reach their full potential.
Ship that you love but your friends don't (and that's ok):
uhhhh it's honestly hard to think of one that i wouldn't share with any friend at all
Wholesome ship:
it used to be Carlos/Rodrigo but then i started dissecting them more and turns out there's more codependency and manipulation than you see at first glance so I'll say uhhhh Tenth Doctor/Rose Tyler? they have their own issues but. yknow. nothing compared to opera couples.
Comfort ship:
Snufkin/Moomin ig? it's special. it's close to my heart more because of what it symbolises than because i want those two to fuck (i do NOT actually want them to fuck at all, dear god, i don't even want to think about it). it's still very melancholy and regret-tinged. i feel like the 'comfort' questions don't rly apply to me cause what i love in fiction above all else is tragedy, unhappy endings, toxicity, generally Bad Things. the way i like to engage in media is weeping tears of genuine anguish over my beloved doomed characters/ships so there's not much space for true, long-lasting comfort.
maybe Eddie/Chrissy from Stranger Things too? cultivating a healthy relationship with another person while battling an ED is not easy to say the least (maybe even impossible, at least to me) so yeah, maybe in an AU focused on her recovery they could be a comfort ship to me.
Crack ship:
Duke of Alba/father Domingo
Ship that should be popular but isn't:
Athos/Aramis. there, I said it. I feel like most people in the 3M fandom take the easy way out with Athos/d'Artagnan and Aramis/Porthos (which I'm a huge fan of in the BBC series, but just cannot see it happening in the Dumas verse) and while I can understand that, I genuinely think Athos/Aramis makes SO much more sense (plus makes a perfect OT3 with Mme de Chevreuse!!!).
Opposites attract ship:
Snufkin/Moomin, Eddie/Chrissy (maybe Carlos/Rodrigo too? they're a bit more complicated than just "opposites attract" to me tho)
Canon ship:
Ten/Rose and Aramis/Marie de Chevreuse) (what can I say, I'm a huge fan of the divorce arc <33 she doesn't even physically appear in the first book and they have 1,5 scene together throughout the entire trilogy - but the contrast between the way Aramis acts about her in 3M vs the cruel, horrible behaviour he exhibits towards her in VDB + her trying her best to ensure he gets executed in the end... it does things to me <333)
First ship:
Don Giovanni/Leporello. well, I used to halfheartedly ship others before but this was the first ship that I truly went INSANE about when I was like 13.
Cursed ship:
again. Alba/Domingo.

We're currently in season 2 of our Smallville rewatch (or first in my partner's case) so, largely from memory, here is my ranking of Smallville characters who should have been canonically queer listed on a scale from "Dude it was right there! I cannot fathom why you fumbled the ball here!" to "I mean I get why you didn't, but the subtext was loud". I might change my ranking after we finish the show.
1. First and most egregious we have Tess Mercer.
This woman is a lesbian.
Her second scene in the entire series is a square off with Lois in which Tess waits maybe 15 seconds before asking if Lois is into role play (to be fair, Lois is in a Spirit Halloween style french maid outfit at the time). Their tension remains severely homoerotic throughout the her time on the show.
They pair Tess with Oliver. They pair her with Zod. They give her the hots for Clark and none of it feels the least bit authentic. She is gay. Let this woman be gay.
2. Coming in at a close second is Chloe Sullivan.
Comp het is the only narrative explanation I can think of for why Chloe spent so much time pining for the obviously disinterested Clark when Pete was right there!
(Yes, I know that the actual reason is network demanded the love triangle, but I want an in-universe explanation, damn it)
Don't get me wrong, I remember her relationship to Jimmy being delightful, but "spent my teen years wanting someone who I knew didn't want me" is giving big "closeted and not ready to deal with my sexuality yet" energy.
Also her jacket choices in the early years feel distinctly sapphic to me, a sapphic who lived through this era.
Bonus: she and Lana could have ended up together and driven a stake right through that love triangle from hell.
3. Lois!
Lois is bi. Fight me.
Am I saying this just because I'm in love with her? No, but I'm gonna be real with you, it is a factor. It's just so obvious to me.
Let bygones be bygones and bi gals be bi gals
4. Clark Kent
Am I saying this just because I'm in love with him? No, but I'm gonna be real with you, it is a factor.
As the show went on, they dipped more and more heavily into the "super powers and kryptonite poisoning as queerness allegory" and it's... it's not great. But that's a whole other post. I just think that if you make listen to a character earnestly describe herself as her bestie's "krypto hag" when talking him through an issue he's having with his sex life AND you make your first on screen lesbian a homicidal shape shifter the least you can do is make your allegorically queer main guy actually bisexual.
Let bygones be bygones and bi guys be bi guys
Also it would kinda explain why he looked the other way about Lex's deeeeeply creepy behaviors for so long. He had the same blind loyalty to Lex that he had to Lana. While I do not ship them especially in the early seasons (Clark is a teen and Lex is in early 20s for the first 4 years of the friendship, that's a big nope for me) Clark having a crush on his morally dubious older friend would explain a lot.
Clark, that grown man is bribing a government agent for your mom's medical records. He is not you friend!
5. Lana Lang
I just think it would have been neat. As I mentioned under the Chloe section I would have really liked it if she and Chloe had ended up together.
Also Lana's journey from damsel in distress (that poor kid is in so. much. distress.) to morally complex love interest to superhero in her own right could also have been a really cool exploration of gender identity.
While I know the average TV writer in the 2000s first association the the word "binary" was likely "code" rather than "gender", non-binary Lana Lang would have slapped.
6. Lex Luthor
Lex is the official recipient of the "I completely get why they didn't make this canon, but the subtext was loud" award.
Lex is manipulative, duplicitous, obsessive, and predatory. (In other words, just another billionaire amiright) Making him canonically gay or bi would have reinforced some extremely harmful stereotypes and given how popular the show was in its time, I am very glad they didn't do this.
That said, he's just so obsessed with Clark and he loooves to compare himself to Alexander the Great.
And a season 6 (when everyone is adults) toxic, chaotic Clark/Lana/Lex throuple would have been amazing. The secrets! The betrayals! Certainly beats the canonical Lex/Lana doomed abusive marriage and ride on the ever present Clark/Lana merry-go-round.
Lex also made a clone combining his DNA with Clark's. Fellas....
Honorable mention: Oliver Queen
I don't have a narrative reason.
Maybe the fact that he was paired with first 3 people on this list at different points in the series just gives him a bit of bi/pan 4 bi/pan energy.
I also just think it would have been fun. And I like fun.

Unwanted Opinion About Robin/Nancy and Nancy/Jonathan
Short version: as far as romantic relationships go, Nancy’s best match is Robin. However, I still ship her with Jonathan, and it makes me sad how both the show and the fans are shafting him.
Long version: under the cut, because it is long.
First off, let me say that I ship Nancy with Jonathan. I’ve shipped them since Season 1, I’m going to ship them through Season 5. Tis the way.
HOWEVER:
I love that all of the cast wants Robin to get with Nancy because of their desire for better representation and a happy ending for a wlw queer romance. I also love the idea of the internet collectively obsessing over the idea of Steve being bisexual and having it turn out that Nancy is the bi one. (Both is the better option, obviously, but it would still be objectively hilarious if Steve is totally straight and his ex is the bi one.)
I also think that Robin is good for Nancy in a way that Steve and Jonathan distinctly aren’t. Specifically, Robin isn’t emotionally needy. She has a need to be recognized and seen. She has a need to be taken seriously. She has a need for close friendships, which she’s realized through Steve and (now) Nancy. But she doesn’t have a need for a romantic partner. The only reason romance is such a big part of her character arc is that she’s a lesbian in the Reaganite Midwest. Her desire to be noticed and taken seriously is intrinsically linked to her ability to find a partner because she’s living in a world where queers are vilified to the absolute extreme and AIDS is viewed as a disease sent by God to kill all the gays. ANY story arc with her has to emphasize her search for love as a lesbian, just as any story arc with Will has to emphasize his search for love as a gay boy.
Contrast the way she interacts with Vickie with the way Steve interacts with Nancy. She has an obsessive crush on Vickie (and I say obsessive in the sense that she’s an adorkable teenager, that’s how pretty much all adorkable teenagers do crushes, it isn’t something worthy of moral judgement, it’s just cute). She talks about Vickie pretty constantly with her bestie (Steve). She gets heart-eyes whenever she sees Vickie. And the same is true for how Steve interacts with Nancy (though, good God, do I hope it’s just because he’s desperate for love in general, not Nancy specifically—I love both Nancy and Steve separately as characters, but I hate them as a ship). But he’s also obsessed with their future together. Robin isn’t fantasizing about adopting children or taking in a bunch of stray cats in a high-rise apartment in San Francisco. She’s fantasizing about the present—the way Vickie looks when she smiles, the sound of her laugh, the way she (Robin) feels when Vickie touches her. Steve, meanwhile, has a whole future planned out with a wife, 6 kids, and a Winnebago. He has domestic dreams out the wazoo.
And that’s why Steve and Nancy will never work. Nancy is never going to be the traditional wife type. She probably doesn’t even want kids (or, if she does, she wants to wait a good long while for it to happen). She wants to be a successful investigative journalist with an impressive degree and an even more impressive career. She wants to be taken seriously. She wants to be recognized for the genius she is.
That’s where she and Robin are perfectly matched. Unlike Nancy and Steve, Nancy and Robin have the same goals.
The PROBLEM with that is how it fucks over Jonathan.
I’m not one of those people who are like “good guys deserve women as rewards”. I am one of those people who hates when stories throw away great chemistry and experience between characters just because they get bored. And that’s definitely what it feels like—that the story has gotten bored with Jonathan. He hasn’t had a good plot since Season 1. Even his storyline in Season 2, while interesting, had him acting as second fiddle to Nancy. He didn’t really have any goals of his own. Same with Season 3. In Season 4, it feels like his storyline is entirely about how he doesn’t have a storyline. He’s lost sight of what he wants and who he wants to be, and he’s floundering because of it. Argyle is a happy stoner who smokes because he wants to. Jonathan is a sad, desperate stoner who smokes because he doesn’t know what else to do with his life.
The only real complaint I have about Season 4 is how they shoehorned in the “will-they/won’t they” between Steve and Nancy. At the end of Season 3, Nancy and Jonathan were fine. And even after having watched Season 4, I don’t see either of them as the type to struggle under a long-distance relationship. That seems wildly out of character for both of them. It only kind of makes sense under the lens of what I said previously about Jonathan floundering in California. He’s afraid, he’s pushing her away out of fear that she’ll sever ties first (or that they’ll linger on and turn into his parents, as he says to Argyle), and Nancy is left reacting to it the only way she can.
In reality, I feel like they’d both communicate all of this. More than any of the other characters (except maybe Mike), Nancy and Jonathan suffer from being teenagers who don’t know how to deal with their emotions. That isn’t a complaint, that’s just realistic characterization. But I STILL feel like they’d talk things through. After everything Murray laid at their feet in Season 2, I don’t think they would keep secrets anymore. Even in Season 3, their fight had more to do with telling each other what they considered to be hard truths, thereby oversharing, rather than hiding stuff from each other.
So there’s that. And then there’s the fact that, in one way, Nancy is never going to be what Jonathan deserves. (Which, again, not a complaint against Nancy—she doesn’t need to fit a man’s mold. She does, however, need to meet at least some of the emotional needs of whatever partner she ends up with. That’s true of any person in a relationship.) What I’m talking about is what I said earlier about how Steve and Jonathan are both emotionally “needy”. Steve’s needs are a lot more obvious than Jonathan’s because Jonathan never really voices them. But that just makes those needs all the more depressing. He’s never been someone’s number one priority. He isn’t number one for Joyce, he definitely wasn’t for his dad, he only sometimes is for Will, and he will never be for Nancy. The only person who consistently puts him at the top of their list is Argyle. But that’s why I like them so much as best friends. They’re like Steve and Robin—soulmates who don’t need sexual or romantic affection to know how much they love one another.
Basically, then, as long as Jonathan is cool with being his bestie’s number one but not his girlfriend’s, I think they work out the best. They challenge each other. They recognize each other’s strengths. And I think they’re the only two characters who take each other seriously. And I really want to see more of them together as a team because of it.

The next wave of my favorite of my FFnet bookmarks as I dig through old links. Some have been migrated to Ao3, so I'll provide those links where I can. Though it seems this batch is mostly FFnet links. As always, the story summaries are in my words instead of the author's to convey my own feelings about the fics.
The Weekly Hyrule News by BatNeko - A modern day Legend of Zelda AU. Zelda feels like she can only be herself when she's Sheik, Link's having a bisexual crisis, and Dark Link is too busy enjoying his new day job to care about what Ganondorf wants.
I love the genderqueer take with Zelda and Link getting hit over the head with the fact that he's bi because he's attracted to Zelda whether she's Zelda or Sheik, every moment with Dark, and just… it's a really fun fic that I've read several times and will continue to love forever. The ship is Zelda/Link and the rating is T. Sadly I could not find it on Ao3, so the link points to FFnet.
New Blood in A New Hope by Michael Weyer - First of a four part series. After a spell goes wrong, Buffy, Willow, and Xander find themselves scattered across a galaxy far, far away. And the Empire looms large over them all…
I don't think this series was finished the last time I read it so I'm excited to see the final fic Return of the New Blood is complete. The series does a great job of combining the Buffy characters with the Star Wars universe and it's a lot of fun to have them hanging out with Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewie. It's rated T and is found only on FFNet (that I could find, anyway). The ships wind up being Buffy/Luke, Leia/Han, Willow/Kasan Moor, and Xander/Mara Jade, though the first fic of the series is gen.
The Scruff Factor by JastaElf - In which Aragorn's scruffiness becomes an excuse for some highly entertaining elven hijinks of the ridiculous kind.
It's a silly K+ rated fic over on FFnet that is mostly the movie-verse except where it's heavily influenced by the books. An extremely silly fic for having a fun time reading.
Slayers of the Old Republic by Michael Weyer - When Buffy fails to escape the collapsing Hellmouth, she lands in a starship in a galaxy far, far away… just in time to witness Revan's defeat.
Another series by Michael Weyer, though this series is unfinished as it only makes it to the events on the Leviathan (two planets and the Star Forge left to go to complete the KotOR plotline). I still recommend it because it's a really interesting concept that I remember enjoying a lot. It follows the plot of the Knights of the Old Republic pretty closely, but still has a distinctly Buffy stamp on things and it turns out Buffy's not the only one who found her way to other worlds. Rated T and found over on FFnet.
Cry for Hyrule by Seldavia - There are more secrets beneath the seas than the former King of Hyrule wants Link to learn. But Ganondorf intends for Link to learn them anyway.
I particularly like this Wind Waker re-imagining because of how it plays with the idea of good and evil and the importance of knowing one's history. Ganondorf is still the King of Evil from the Ocarina of Time the same way he was in the Wind Waker game, but his character is given a lot more depth here.
The Darkest Gate by Lauhau - When an ancient magical gate opens, it transports Sarah far away to the world between the Underground and the Upper Lands. There an ancient evil seeks to invade both and the only two who stand between their worlds and destruction are Sarah and the strange Goblin King, Jareth.
I actually read this before I saw Labyrinth for the first time - honestly, you don't need to have seen the movie to enjoy it. But knowing the movie makes me smile now on re-read to see the way parts of it have been woven into the plot and background. It's not on Ao3, so the link is to FFnet. The rating is T and the ship is Jareth/Sarah.
Welcome to Stalag 13 by L J Groundwater - Colonel Robert Hogan arrives at Stalag 13 and immediately starts thinking of escape; but when he gets his chance, it seems fate has other plans for him as he's faced with the choice of going home or risking it all to go back and bring the final radio part needed at camp with him.
This is probably one of my favorite takes on how the setup from Hogan's Heroes came about. L J Groundwater wrote a lot of Hogan's Heroes fanfics and, honestly? I recommend every single one. If you're a fan of the show, then Groundwater's fics definitely feel like a series of love letters to what made the show so great. This one is rated T and found on FFnet.
One (Last) Chance by Kirsh - When Time Compression returns Squall to the day of his SeeD exam, he has to admit the reason why. He wants to save Seifer.
I've got a real fondness for FF8 time travel fics - after all the game's premise lends itself to the concept so well. This fic is a good take on it, with Squall trying to keep the timeline on the right path to defeat Ultimecia while trying at the same time to keep Seifer safe and feeling guilty that while he can change things to protect Seifer he's having to make choices that he knows will put others in harms way. I do wish it deviated a bit more from canon, but Squall's struggle with keeping to the timeline is pretty interesting too. It's a Seifer/Squall story on FFnet, rated M.
The Summoner's Knight by Ms_Starlight - Quistis is a Summoner without a Guardian and Seifer intends to change that, whether Quistis likes it or not.
A Seifer/Quistis (FF8 characters) fic set in the FFX universe, with the events of FFX taking place in the background. I do enjoy a good belligerent UST couple; Seifer and Quistis are definitely that in spades. The FFX fusion is well done - you can tell that Ms_Starlight really enjoyed both games a lot. Ms_Starlight's fics look to have all been cross posted to Ao3, which was nice to find. This one is rated T.
This Final Heaven by Ms_Starlight - An excavation into Ancient Centran ruins may be very well bringing about the restoration of Hyne. In order to find the truth, Quistis is going to need the help of former Sorceress Knight, Seifer Almasy. Who isn't exactly all that interested in getting tangled up in SeeD problems again.
This is another Seifer/Quistis fic and drifts into horror a bit in places, particularly with what happens to Squall and Rinoa, since Rinoa's Sorceress powers stem directly from Hyne here. And Hyne is, uh… very much not good. This fic is rated M (because there's sex, not for the mild horror) and is also cross posted to Ao3.

4-9 for comic asks!
4. What introduced you to the DC universe? Was it a show, comic or movie?
i think i was like vaguely aware of the DC universe before this but my first like real experience was watching teen titans, static shock, and the batman (2004) on the kid's wb saturday morning programming block! i distinctly remember watching the premiere of the batman (2004) it's also the first thing i remember drawing fanart for (batgirl in season 3) and it lead me to finding my true love the making of batman & robin (1997) book that my school had in their library for some reason
in high school i tried getting into the comics when they did the new52 reboot. i know that i bought catwoman #1 because i heard she was bisexual and maybe also batwoman #1 cause i heard she was a lesbian but getting into the comics didn't stick until i got shown guy gardner and lobo a bunch of times by my SO and i had disposable income for the first time lol
5. Favorite character?
i think we all know that its guy lol. also lobo, tora, bea, jared stevens, arnold burnsteel, frostbite, off ramp, huntress, ted, and booster
6. Favorite cannon ship?
can i say jared's divorce? lol um obviously offramp/frostbite and then the version of cannon/saber that lives in my brain since they don't get a lot of screentime. i haven't really read enough of the other canon ships in order to feel like i have a good grasp on how they are in canon vs the idea i have for them in my head. idea wise i love dinahollie and clois though. also guytora is so important to me but they are not end game. they have to breakup ALSO just remembered this after i typed the answer for the next question. mitchell shelley/kim rebecki in the original resurrection man run. it was so nice how it unfolded
7. Favorite non-cannon ship?
guylobo....... they are my everything the way they've barley interacted over their publication histories but each of those interactions is so incredibly rich. they way both of them are exaggerations of machismo with guy's mellowing/being written more palatably over time while lobo's becomes more extreme until they want to use him as an actual character. they way they both have the potential to live forever so their relationship can progress emotionally at a snail's pace. their ability to understand each other's mode of operations because ultimately they operate on the same system but at different intensities and with different levels of self awareness allowing them to create a space where there's the possibility to just breathe around each other. the way they immediately start fist fighting each other when they meet only to be arm wrestling after they've both calmed down. the way lobo was part of two of guy's life changing adventures into space. the way lobo not only brought guy his space hog to put in the bar but also took the time and effort to clean the skull of guy's dead enemy and put it in a nice box and he pulled him to the side and away from the crowd to give it to him and create this nice private moment and guy is so touched by this that he tells lobo that he will always drink for free at his bar expressing the desire to see him again without saying those words...
8. Pre-N52 or N52?
pre-n52 one hundred percent
9. Rebirth or N52?
rebirth because it has space cabbie in it also crush

A Harry Potter rewrite but
Someone acknowledges how the school system is built to actively promote the constant isolation of young impressionable children with toxic families and nurture them in an environment that only acts as an echo chamber telling them about how much better blood purity is. Yes, I'm talking about how any child sorted into Slytherin is highly likely to become a Death Eater simply because of the way they are forced into a toxic echo chamber.
Severus Snape isn't a nice guy who takes out his anger at a dead man on his young son and isn't defined solely by his "love" (See: obsession) for said boy's dead mom. He also learns to be happy for her but still actually loves her instead of idk...being a dick to little children.
Sirius and Remus are an actual couple (because I fucking re read PoA and OoTP simply because I saw people saying there was zero subtext and I distinctly remember there being subtext as a gay closeted kid and guess what...it's still there. It's still gay as shit and it's still subtext (and accidental cause Rowling can't write compelling romance for shit).
Which brings me to my other Remus ship. If I were to rewrite this obviously Wolfstar would have become canon and they would have survived and taken Harry in. Tonks, that badass mofo of an icon would have wooed some girl off her feet and been an absolute legend as she did it and all that jazz. BUT since I'm trying to stick close(ish) to canon I guess we're still murking Sirius (poor boi deserved way better). So, Remus still had a romantic relationship with Sirius, but after Sirius' death he falls for Tonks and it's a slow process and Tonks makes it clear that a) he needs to get over himself and his self hatred because it is not his fault and b) he deserves to be happy for himself. Remus falls for Tonks because they share some experiences, they actively interact, Remus is his old self deprecating self and Tonks, instead of becoming depressed puts her foot down and goes "I will always be there for you but YOU need to fight for ME". And Remus is like "oh ShIt! I do love her and I can grow to deserve her" and grow into loving himself for her and then they get together (and not die). And then you have an iconic bi dude marrying a genderqueer bi hottie.
Tonks' patronus doesn't change. Because no, just fucking no. That cool self sufficient baddie will never change her personality or soul to mould herself to a dude. Nope. Fuck you.
James and Lily's romance is also clarified on more and Lily more explicitly falls for him because he proves to her that he is a genuinely good person through an act that is NOT meant to impress her.
The prank has more context because wtf was happening there.
SOMEONE comments on Harry's very obvious bisexuality.
Peter's betrayal is a deeper blow because here he is shown to have genuinely adored the marauders instead of being the "that guy" of the group. Also his betrayal is for much deeper reasons than "aha I just chose to stick with the winning side".
Dumbledore actually gets called out on being a manipulative bastard more.
Harry doesn't name his son after his mom's obsessive nice guy pal who constantly hit and mocked him and a guy who reared him like a pig for slaughter and instead names him after one of the many MANY wonderful people who died in the war and his first name is Sirius because we just HAD to kill the ridiculously queer coded godfather (who deserved better).
Also Remus and Tonks were at the hospital during Sirius 2.0's birth and tried a mini spell to ensure he has some level of lgbt-ness to him. And they both cried when Harry said the baby was named Sirius because Sirius always wanted to be one of the Potters.

if placed in a contemporary setting what are their actual aesthetics?
aang: the thing about aang is, he may be a monk, but he’s not one of those lame monks who wouldn’t throw underground raves or “literally commit ecoterrorism;” he’s, like, a cool monk, y’know? as a [modern] kid, aang is just one of those children who radiates pure sunshine and is never not wearing shorts, as if to emphasize Yes I Am Little Boy, And Aren’t I Just Adorable? as an adult, aang smokes weed and goes to a lot of really weird parties, but he’s not an obnoxious stoner or party boy (jet, on the other hand...); his aesthetic is still that perfect angel sunshine boy, who wears homemade jewelry and volunteers at children’s hospitals, but just like. taller!
katara: as a feminine jock, katara’s aesthetic is kinda all over the place, but she absolutely makes it work. her fashion goals at all times are to look cute, but in a way that says “don’t fuck with me.” her hair must always look perfect at all times, or she may as well just not leave the house at all that day. same goes for her lucky white sneakers, which are her prized possession right after her mother’s necklace. she has an equal love for the beach (surfing, snorkeling, lounging around eating ice cream) as she does for the snow (ice hockey, snowboarding, pelting sokka with snowballs). she crafts a lot of handmade jewelry with aang and kanna. she’s really into watercolor paintings, but also has a fascination with romantic-era paintings of ships on tempestuous seas.
sokka: his aesthetic can best be defined as “grunge nerd.” he’s a nerd, but he’s not, like, preppy about it. he plays sports, but he’s not a jock. no, he mostly just dresses like he’s given up on life (but, to be clear, in a hot way) because he is simultaneously the most and least ambitious person in the world. he wears big flannel shirts (usually stolen from suki) over graphic tees with awful math & science puns on them, because his friends love buying him shirts with math & science puns on them. he’s really into images of space, and has a poster of uranus (his favorite planet due to her unusual axial tilt, pretty color, and general mysterious vibe) hanging on his wall, but when he sees people with posters of, say, einstein in their room, he cringes.
toph: bugs and dirt and mud and worms! toph’s aesthetic can be summed up as “swamp hag.” she likes wearing big cargo shorts and big ol dyke boots, but otherwise doesn’t really give a shit about her wardrobe, honestly. she wears a lot of graphic tees that are so tacky sokka doesn’t even have the heart to wear them ironically. but ugly clothing is actually toph’s fashion statement so she loves them. she loves going to the park and digging around for bugs or cool rocks or strange fungi. she’s actually the one who initially got sokka into mushroom foraging. katara wonders whether toph since regrets this, since sokka now fancies himself a Mycologist. toph, in fact, does not.
suki: she could easily be placed into hbo’s betty, a chill stoner skater girl who radiates distinctly bisexual vibes. she wears socks with birkenstocks, lots of flannel, crop tops, big sweatpants, snapbacks... she owns (and possibly lives in???) a pick-up truck that is her baby. girls are always leaving shit in there that suki never actually returns to them; instead, she collects them like a dragon with her hoard. she plays bass and is obsessed with music, especially of the “cool bi girl” variety. she teaches martial arts to young girls, and she plays all kinds of sports. no one knows where she came from; people like to say she was raised by wolves, and she’s done nothing to dispel that theory.
zuko: he is very Romantic by nature, particularly the “tuberculosis chic” strain of Romanticism that distinctly keatsian, but he really loves kafka, who is his sadboy role model. he thinks that suffering is a virtue, or at least that’s what he tells himself, because he is constantly suffering, and since he has found no way out, he instead must learn to cope with this. so he tells himself that he must be a good person because he is constantly miserable, which is extremely misguided, but in fairness, quite understandable. as for how he presents himself, he is not emo or goth or even punk, but in fact what one might call “soft prep,” which is to say big sweaters and being really into classics (especially latin; he loves the aeneid). he channels his anger through listening to mitski and fiona apple alone in his room, and going to protests with katara (which is to say, far more productively than arson. thank god for that).
mai: i hate to use the term “dark academia” for obvious reasons, but mai truly is one of those peacoat bitches who always looks casually classy in a distinctly “new yorker” way, and she is, in fact, drawn to the gothic. this isn’t to say that she’s goth, because that would imply putting in effort to identify with a subculture, and mai’s whole thing is detachment, but she does have a particular taste in architecture and literature, and it involves a celebration of death and the macabre. that said, her primary interest is in the sciences, and among this particular community of nerds, she is considered very cool and mysterious and even fashionable, despite the fact that she has never put thought into any of her outfits other than occasionally painting her nails black when she’s bored. she secretly wishes she could pull off sokka’s terrible graphic tees.
ty lee: like katara, ty lee is also a feminine jock, but she expresses this identity completely differently. she knows she could easily come off as threatening and weird (like mai and azula do) but the thought of being disliked scares her so she really leans into a performance of being as non-threatening and adorable as possible. her clothes are always comfortable and soft, but pastel and cute. she wears just enough makeup to highlight her natural beauty, but not enough that it’s intimidating. she tries really hard to seem like she doesn’t care as much as she does. she perfectly performs the aesthetics of normalcy, but in reality, she is anything but.
azula: she is distinctly not cool, and in fact, could best be described as “true prep.” she has been known to wear blazers to school. she always insists on looking clean and professional. growing up, it was polo shirts or tucked in white button downs, and as an adult, she’s rarely if ever spotted wearing anything other than one of her signature Power Suits. (the fact that sokka and suki dress like “hippie slobs” and yet are still more successful than she is enrages her.) she is a fan of sleek, black & white minimalism that leaves no room for error, and any kind of clutter or artistic expression is a weakness. one time zuko saw her leave an empty mug on the table and he immediately called mai to be like “i think azula’s dying????”

"catching their eye from across the room" prompt for valgrace! (maybe it can happen during like a counselor's meeting idk)
leo is SUPER bored out by the counselor meeting. They’re discussing something stupid about harley setting someone on fire… okay maybe it’s not that stupid but like. leo doesn’t want to listen.
he’s much more interested in studying jason, who is sitting directly across from him at the ping pong table. ever since jason and piper broke up, leo has been spending more time with the guy, and he’s starting to notice him more.
things like how jason’s arms flex during sword training, how much leo has to tip his head back to look at him, how his eyes are the precise color of the sky on any given day.
and leo’s comfortable enough with his sexuality to not be super alarmed by this (can you blame him, he shared a ship with percy, frank, and nico, not to mention jason himself) but he has no idea what’s up with jason’s sexuality so he’s never acted on it.
he knows at least that jason isn’t homophobic since nico directly cited jason as his first supporter when he came out to the camp, but jason was also really torn up about piper breaking up with him… so best case he’s bisexual but at worse case he’s painfully straight. Also, the guy ironically wears polos buttoned all the way up. so.
(then again those polos are pretty tight, and leo likes to watch how they stretch over jason’s indecently muscled chest. what, he has eyes okay, and when jason takes off his shirt during weapons practice what is leo going to do? not look? please.)
anyways back to the counselor meeting: annabeth is saying something now. jason pushes his glasses up his nose. gods damn it why do those glasses make him look so good??
and then jason’s gaze lifts up and locks with leo’s. leo has to distinctly suppress his ears from catching fire. jason lifts an eyebrow, his expression one of concern, and leo subtly shakes his head. jason tilts his own and leo can read the question on his face: you sure, man?
leo rolls his eyes and stretching his foot out to kick jason’s. the other boy smiles and kicks back, before turning his attention back to whatever is being discussed.
after the meeting, piper corners leo and is like “how long has this been going on, why didn’t you tell me, gods of course i missed this, no wait how did i miss this-” and leo’s like “?? what??”
so piper deadpans “how long have you two been dating?”
and now leo’s really like “?????? what??????” and piper’s expression becomes exasperated and under her breath she says “wow they’re both idiots.” and then to leo she says, as if talking to a five year old: “you two like each other. how long has this been happening?”
and of course as the fates would have it, jason is walking by right then and freezes, and leo freezes too. and piper turns to jason and crosses her arms, all girlboss-like you know, and she repeats the question.
leo and jason just look at each other and jason’s ears go so red, leo is worried they might catch fire.
piper sighs, then says, “okay i’m going to leave you two alone because you two are dumbasses and need to sort out your issues.”
she walks away and jason goes “so uh. is it true?”
leo: “is what true?” he knows exactly what jason is asking, but he wants him to say it just so he’s certain.
jason: “do you like me?”
leo huffs “i’ve only been eyeing you up ever since we were on the argo II.”
jason’s cheeks go dark red. leo’s starts tapping his thigh. “so? do you like me back?”
jason, quietly: “yeah.”
leo’s heart freezes high in his throat. he stops tapping. “Yeah?”
jason smiles. “yeah.”
bonus: the aphrodite cabin is in the bushes, piper joined them after talking to valgrace. piper says “pay up.” drew goes “that’s cheating, you definitely pushed them along.” mitchell says “god if they had just waited another week...”
okay so that was kind of long... i really like valgrace, is what i’m figuring out... but i really hope that you liked this!!! it got a little stilted with the dialogue at the end, but let me know what you think! and thank you so much for sending this prompt in, i loved it :D

Hey, if we're talking about Jon's asexuality, can we not make it about a black and white "explicit fic involving Jon bad"
While this isn't true to all of them, a lot of the explicit fic, especially when it involves Martin, have a discussion about Jon's asexuality. As a result, a lot of the emotional moments and the sex itself is shaped around and is changed because of it.
And oh, a lot of explicit fics are in fact written by ace authors exploring their own sexuality and kinks because asexuality is a spectrum!
(This is not to say that just because an author is ace, doesn't mean they can't be critical of their own writing. Fics that glorify rape/incest in particular can still be written by an ace author and shouldnt be shielded just because they are).
For those unaware, there are many types of aces. Sex-repulsed, those are not favorable to sex at all and outright dislike it. Sex-indifferent, which are indifferent to sex in a relationship. Sex-neutral where they’re neutral to the idea of sex itself. Sex-favorable where the idea of sex in a relationship is good even if it's not to their own person. Sex-positive where they’re actively seeking sex and sexual situations in a relationship. There are other variations that fall under the ace umbrella like demisexuality and gray-ace to name a few, but this is the main gist.
(Note, this has been edited. To include sex-indifferent and sex-favorable aces).
I've read fics for many types for Jon. I adore reading fics of Jon talking with Martin about his boundaries. I really like a Jon that helps Martin through sex but feels more than satisfied with the intimacy of being close to Martin in his afterglow. And the sex-positive fics are rarer but they're usually really good at exploring and talking about his aceness and how it affects his sexuality.
But Lunes, you may say, isn't the line "Jon just.... doesnt." Doesnt that imply that he's sex-repulsed or at the very least, definitely never sex-positive?
There's been many posts arguing the semantics of this statement. That for many sex-indifferent and sex-neutral aces also identify with this statement or that in the specific context, they were talking about casual hook-ups. I could go on.
But tbh? I don't personally care.
Listen. There are very few ace characters. Further, there is very few ace protags. There are 703 AO3 works for the "Canon Asexual Character" tag and 482 of them are for TMA. The second highest is at 34 for Rusty Quill Gaming.
There are so few ace characters. Everyone is looking for representation and a lot of ace folks are writing different fics that have their own version of aceness. And yes, this sometimes means explicit fics because sometimes exploring aceness means exploring sexual situations since asexuality inherently changes how sex is viewed and performed. Let people explore their asexuality through a popular character!!! Do I personally think Jon is sex-positive, probably not! But hey, I'm sex-neutral and I don't know what being an sex-positive ace means.
But guess what? All aces also have almost equal amount of rep. And by that, next to none. We're all scrambling for the same rep and seeing ourselves in the same character. In the far future, there may be more ace characters we can all project our particular flavor of ace onto, but atm there isn't.
There is nuance here that I'd like there to be in the conversation in regards to writing Jon in explicit fics. And I keep seeing posts that imply that just the act of writing Jon in sexual settings or having sex is bad (I remember someone pointing out the number of explicit fics with Martin was a lot.... which tbh isn't even true. There are 3366 works for Jonmartin, 1363 for T, 1131 G, and in third place with only 345, E with 310 are M and 217 not rated. Also in general of the 5562 fics involving Jon, only 667 are E rated. In comparison to most fandoms, where the E tag would be the first or second highest tag, that isn't that much).
(This is not to say some ships don't have more sexual content than others. In particular, I find explicit fics with Elias and Tim rarely if ever explore Jon's aceness. And if they do, there tends to be... let's say manipulative elements at best from Elias. And explicit fics with Tim tend to have a lot of "office slut" factors from both of them. Which really shows the biphobia from the fandom).
I make this post not because the fandom's portrayal Jon's asexuality has been perfect or that all explicit fics have treated his aceness with respect. Far from it. But not all explicit fics are the same, and I dislike that many wonderful explicit fics that explore Jon's asexuality in an ace way have been meshed in with fics that just treat him as straight up gay (erasing both his bisexuality and his asexuality in the process).
I make an edit here as well. Jon is ace and you can’t forget that. It changes things and if you don’t keep that in mind when writing relationships with him, then you’re erasing his asexuality. This isn’t just in explicit fics. I’ve seen many T-rated fics that mention previous casual hook-ups like they’re a regular thing he used to do, unsaid sexual situations, and Jon finding characters attractive in a way that felt distinctly offputting as an ace person. It’s complicated, and difficult, and even as I write this post in defense of explicit fics, I want to keep this in mind. I don’t make this post to excuse lazy writing of an ace character rather to keep in mind that asexuality is complicated. And in that complication means we all have to work harder to be more understanding of one another but also to work harder to make better fic that is inclusive.
TLDR: Please be careful when writing Jon's asexuality. He is ace and you should write him as such, BUT do not make an umbrella notion that writing an explicit fic with an ace character is inherently bad. There is nuance that can and should be discussed, especially since many of these explicit fics are being written by ace people. Sexuality is far too complicated for such a blanket statement. I'd rather the discussion lean towards how asexuality is portrayed rather than throwing out explicit fics all together.

u wanna say anything for spn ending? Today's their last day of filming
Yeah sure! I love how you worded this ask, it makes me want to give a very serious answer. I’ve been rewatching random episodes the past few days and thinking about how much of my life was shaped by this random lil tv show, both positively and negatively, so here we go.
I started watching Supernatural during my junior year of college, when I was grappling with being gay and religious, and had a pseudo-girlfriend who was emotionally abusive. I remember I started watching the show because I had been on tumblr for a while and thought, well this is a popular show on tumblr and looks like something I’d enjoy, so I might as well try it. I remember barely paying attention to the first season and thinking it was kind of silly, and I distinctly remember making fun of it right up until the season 1 finale when that truck slammed into the Impala and I said oh.
I remember sitting in the dining hall between classes, hiding in a corner with my pink headphones and my laptop, watching one episode after the other, completely consumed by it. My personal life was a mess at the time and I was angry and sad and frustrated, but I could forget about everything for a little while when I watched spn. I remember falling in love with Dean Winchester, season 3, when Sam gave him the amulet.
Because I had already spent a lot of time on tumblr, I knew about Castiel. I couldn’t wait to get to season 4, the anticipation killed me. I didn’t really have a choice in shipping destiel, I literally shipped it before I even watched a single episode of the show lol. My first time watching seasons 4 and 5, I remember how mad I would feel every time the opening credits scrolled at the bottom of the screen and Misha Collins wasn’t listed. I cared about almost nothing but Dean and Cas interacting with each other. I was totally enamored by them, by their potential. At some point I got over that and watched the show because I liked the show, but boy did my heart and brain break for destiel.
I broke up with my abusive girlfriend. I started coming out to more people, including people involved in the Christian campus ministry I was heavily involved in, and it was very very hard. It was 2013. The first episode of Supernatural I watched live was the episode where Dean turns into a fucking dog.
I don’t remember when I started reading fanfic, and I had no idea how to read fanfic. A friend invited me to ao3, what is ao3? I didn’t know. I used my email address as my username. I read Twist and Shout and Pie Without Plot and other very popular fics that I knew about because everybody knew about them. I vividly remember the first fics I read because I was 21 years old and had never had an orgasm in my life and believed sex was sinful and so when the sex scenes in fics turned me on, I felt guilty about it.
I quickly got over that and started writing explicit destiel fanfic.
I still had no idea what I was doing. I know the very first fic I ever wrote was a mess, I’ve completely erased all traces of it, but other than that I began posting with abandon. Pretty much everything I’ve ever written for spn is still on tumblr and/or ao3. I was running a Hannibal blog at the time and started posting more Supernatural content than Hannibal content, so I created a sideblog, @deancasheadcanons, and things very quickly got out of hand after that.
I was depressed, I was confused, I was spending my last couple years of college trying to figure out my sexuality, trying to hold onto a religion that was rejecting who I was becoming, trying to find my identity while picking a career path and being sad and being pulled in a hundred different directions. Sometimes I was working three jobs at once, on top of 17-credit-hour semesters. I was getting a degree in a field I did not care about, and I spent every class reading and writing fanfic, scrolling through tumblr, making internet friends, letting my life be consumed by Supernatural. I projected myself completely onto Dean Winchester and partially onto Castiel and did not even realize it.
I started dressing like Dean, and my sister and brother-in-law noticed and assumed I was gay. They were extremely unsubtle in their attempts at getting me to come out by pointing out the flannel and army jackets, and I did not have it in me to admit to them that I was dressing like a fictional character, but I DID tell them I was bisexual.
I went to therapy every week during my senior year of college, and I was embarrassed about how often I talked about my “internet life,” as I called it. I remember having the arbitrary goal of getting 1,000 kudos on a fanfic, and I remember the day it happened for the first time and I remember going to therapy that week and saying that I didn’t feel any different, that I thought getting attention for my writing would make me feel better, somehow, but I still felt the same, and my therapist asked me if I would still be writing if I was the only one who got anything out of it and I said yes. But I was still obsessed with writing things that were meaningful, and despite the fact that I would receive 10 negative/mean anons per day, I never turned anon off because I desperately wanted people to tell me that my writing meant something to them, that it mattered to them. I was fighting with myself every day over my sexuality and my identity and my purpose, and I put all of that on the shoulders of Dean and Cas.
There was also chubby!dean. I had lived my entire life with this inexplicable thing, this shame that I knew I could not share, that I knew I would just have to suffer with for my whole life, and then I joined the spn fandom and found that there were others like me, others that had a fetish and had similar experiences as I did and were drawn to Dean Winchester because there’s no other character that could make eating and gaining weight be as enticing as he makes it (in fanfic). For the first time in my life I had a community of people that I could relate to about a thing that I never thought I would ever be able to talk about with anyone in my life. I don’t remember if I consciously chose to start posting publicly about it, but at some point I did, and I started writing kink fic, but I was still so uncomfortable with myself and so scared of the things I felt, and I tried so hard to temper myself and not offend anyone and not go “too far” and not be too weird and I was so sexually repressed and pent up and full of guilt and shame, and so now when I go back and reread some of the stuff I wrote it feels like reopening an old wound and letting myself bleed out.
I was constantly comparing myself to others and wondering why I wasn’t getting as much attention as so-and-so, and I always made excuses about how maybe my writing was too weird and I was too much and maybe I just wasn’t good enough and I hated myself and wanted to delete everything I ever wrote, but also I’m awesome and receive a lot of attention and get a lot of good feedback but maybe that means I’m just a narcissist! I acted like an asshole online and justified it by saying it wasn’t really me, that I could be someone totally different on tumblr than the person I was in “real life,” but in hindsight, now when I think back on my early 20s, I cannot separate what I was doing in “real life” from what I was doing in the spn fandom. I shared so much of myself with the spn fandom without even recognizing that that’s what I was doing.
And I made mistakes, god I made mistakes, and I tried to be so careful about everything I said but I was also presenting a certain version of myself to the spn fandom so that people would like me (for instance: running a destiel blog and trying my best to hide the fact that I also ship wincest) and still I got in trouble constantly, and I grew bitter and mean because you can only receive the “when are you posting the next chapter?” comment so many times before you want to bang your head into a wall. I became defensive and unkind, afraid to check my inbox because it was a nightmare, and yet unable to turn off anon because, like I said, I desperately needed that feedback, I needed people to tell me that they felt what I felt, that they understood what I was writing and why I was writing it.
I expected Supernatural to give me everything I needed. I fantasized about Dean Winchester being canonically bisexual because I thought it would confirm something in me, that it would somehow make my life a little bit easier. I didn’t want to watch other shows that could maybe help me, I wanted Supernatural to do things for me that it had never promised and would never deliver, and it’s because I was defined by it for so many years. Now that I’m back on tumblr, I’ve been going back through some of my old posts on deancasheadcanons and it’s like reading a stranger’s words. Even so, I find myself telling people “I was deancasheadcanons” instead of “I ran a sideblog called deancasheadcanons” because it really was such a huge part of my identity. What’s wild is that every time I’ve tried to explain it to someone in real life, they just look at me like I’m not making any sense.
It was easy to stop watching Supernatural. I didn’t have cable, and I had been driving to my dad and stepmom’s house each week and watching it on their tv after they had gone to bed. I was in a new relationship with a woman I nearly married, I was back in school for a new career, I was working full time and absolutely did not have time to continue writing fanfic as prolifically as I had done for so many years. I finally reached a breaking point in 2017 and haven’t watched any new episodes since then (I don’t remember the last episode I saw). But now, as I rewatch some old episodes, it is easy to feel the way I felt the first time I watched the show. It’s easy to see why this campy little heartfelt show was a lifeline during my formative adult years.
So it turns out I have never reckoned with any of this, have never written it down, hence the 2k jumble of words you see here. And it’s like, I know that a lot of this may seem silly, trivial, especially for a show that in itself is not very serious, but as it comes to an end I have to reflect on it as a person who put so much of my heart, my creativity, my pain and my floundering identity into it. I am somewhat embarrassed and wish I could respond to this ask with a joke instead, but we’re in a pandemic and I live alone and have had way too much time to think and reflect and become a lot more self-aware, and part of that reflection has definitely been about my time in the spn fandom. I remember thinking the show was never going to end, yet here we are at the end and I felt compelled to type all this out with a desire to, I don’t know, get some closure? Convince myself that I was a whole person, that I wasn’t just a faceless URL posting destiel fics into the void, that my real life was not at all disparate from the time I spent online? In any case, I’ll always think fondly of the time I devoted to Supernatural, and I’ll take the good and the bad and everything in between. Thanks for the nice ask, anon, apparently I needed to get some things off my chest.

Hello! Here from Ao3 :) (@bokashi is my side blog)
As mentioned in a comment on your iwaoi story, which ships do you see as legitimately being canon? (a link for the silly geese who haven't read it yet)
For me, I honestly think bokuaka could be canon (we just need the confirmation </3). But for like iwaoi (I get really intense friendship vibes, but like so unabashedly proud and happy to be friends with the other person in canon) or kuroken (maybe like a heather situation, where one of them is in love, but the other isn't; but also, they really teeter on the edge for me) or other ships (I could go on forever), it's a bit more up in the air for me. I indulge and thoroughly enjoy all ship content, but I try to separate the two worlds of fandom and canon too.
I also think it's really easy to enjoy shipping. They're fictional men (thinking manga timeskip here), so it's kind of hard to self-ship (for me), but I want them to be happy in the romance department. Plus, when there are so few women and non-binary people in the show, naturally that shipping is gonna happen between *the bois*. (Although, based on all of the content we get, even with women, I'd still ship them all with their teammates.)
So yeah, I'm really curious about your thoughts on this jumbled mess about shipping and canon vs fanon, etc! Really enjoying your content, thanks for replying to my comments! :)
Hiiiii! Ffamran is a sideblog too, I followed bokashi on my hiatused chibimonkey main.
So tbh, given Japan’s general stance on homosexuality *side eye intensifies* I’d have to say regretfully nobody could be legitimately canon except Tanaka/Kiyoko the token heteroship. HOWEVER, some mangaka (looking at you, CLAMP and Yamaguchi Tsubasa!) dgaf about heteronorms and have written gorgeous and CANON LGBTQ+ characters, so it’s within the realm of possibility that Furudate-sensei intended some of her characters to be gay and maybe her editor or the magazine said “uh, fuck no?” because, I mean, have you READ the manga? Some of it’s pretty fucking gay.
My top 5 ships are the ones I could most likely see being canon: daisuga, iwaoi, kuroken, asanoya, and bokuaka. I’d also add kagehina to that. The evidence is just THERE.
Daichi and Suga are VERY close. They’re always shown together, were introduced together, have been referred to by Furudate-sensei as Karasuno’s parents, Daichi talks Suga up a ton, Suga is very physical with Daichi especially, etc etc. In one panel of the manga, Suga is literally slapping Daichi’s ass. (Under the #ffamran reads manga tag.) Like what? But they’re also the least in your face on this list.
Asanoya is just... a lot of what daisuga is but more obvious. Also introduced as a duo, usually around each other, physical, etc. Noya ONLY sets for Asahi (though once in the anime he set for Tanaka) - that’s HUGE. He learned to do this crazy fucking technique all to better ASAHI. He refuses to play without Asahi. At the very least, Noya is bisexual and has a thing for Asahi. PLUS they travel the GODDAMN WORLD together at the end of the manga.
Iwaoi might as well be official. There’s the whole Iwaizumi milk bread thing (like SERIOUSLY, how much more do you NEED?), the nicknames/name-calling/teasing, the constant touching, the complete trust and connection. Oikawa relies overtly on Iwa, and Iwa is constantly checking on and reassuring him. These two blatantly love each other.
Kuroken is another where at least one of them has a thing for the other. Kuroo is SMITTEN with Kenma. He’s constantly taking care of him, checking on him, monitoring his comfort. When he, Kai, and Yaku are discussing Kenma, Kuroo’s face is just so in LOVE with this fucking boy. Kenma is up in the air - he’s not as expressive as Kuroo, or as emotional. He keeps his feelings firmly inside. But I’d say it’s safe to assume he cares very deeply for Kuroo and loves him, and it’s a 50/50 toss up if it’s romantic love.
Bokuaka. Bro. At first I was gonna say “ehhhhh, it’s probably wishful thinking on our part,” but then I remembered: Akaashi decided to attend Fukurodani SOLELY because he saw Bokuto play. Bokuto honed the fuck in on him the day they met and basically staked his claim. These two embody the love at first sight trope and they are comfortably settled in a serious relationship. Why else does Akaashi know him so well, and vice versa? Akaashi made and MEMORIZED a list of Bokuto’s weaknesses, and knows exactly how to get him out of every slump, and Bokuto is intrinsically aware of when Akaashi’s at his limit, and pushes past his own weaknesses to support him at that time. Out of everyone, these two are the most likely to have started their relationship before the manga.
Kagehina. I watched the first episode (I saw the anime before I read the manga) and I distinctly remember my overall impression was “these two are gonna fuck, aren’t they?” They’re dumb. They’re SO fucking dumb, and I respect Furudate-sensei SO MUCH for making both her protagonists stupid as fuck. These two would be a vicious slow burn. They don’t get together during the manga. They’re too busy competing with each other. Their flirting is competition. They’re SO into each other beyond a normal friendly rivalry but they both think it’s just a friendly rivalry because they’re SO DUMB.
Honorable mention to Tsukiyama, because while these two are easy to write off as just good friends, there are very subtle hints that they may be more than, the biggest being Tsukki’s distaste if anyone but Yamaguchi calling him Tsukki (and Yamaguchi hates when other people say it too) and their “tough love” type of support for each other. They seem to be a very private couple, if they were intended as such.
Also: Yachi. Yachi is CLEARLY a lesbian.
It could also be argued that Ushiten was hinted at being canon, since Tendou clearly loves Ushiwaka. It’s not a ship I like but I very easily see why it’s a popular ship. I think I posted about it before somewhere, but the tl;dr of it is Tendou is ALL OVER Ushiwaka. Supports him 1000% in the face of anyone and everyone, clings to him (not physically, but like... emotionally?) at school, and just everything he does is FOR Ushiwaka. Like, did Ushiwaka even have friends before Tendou started talking to him? And Ushiwaka softens around Tendou, becomes more human and likeable. He doesn’t act that way around anyone else. They might just be the bromance to end all bromances, or one of them has a crush, or maybe they do love each other - their relationship is ambiguous in that regard. But I will add: Ushiwaka did fly all the way to France to see Tendou, and I don’t see anyone else (except Asanoya) making worldwide trips for each other.

Kaliel and Jericho :3c
Got Jer in a seperate ask so here's Kal!
Full Name: Kaliel Idryasil
Gender and Sexuality: Nonbinary, Bisexual
Pronouns: They/Them and He/Him
Ethnicity/Species: Strix
Birthplace and Birthdate: Windspire, Cheliax, 8th of Pharast, 4703
Guilty Pleasures: Kal absolutely loves sweets, probably more than they should, and loves to indulge themself whenever the opportunity presents itself - which, admittedly, is not horrifically often.
Phobias: Despite their weapon of choice, they remain distinctly afraid of the crack of a rifle. In addition, he's also horribly afraid of losing the ability to fly.
What They Would Be Famous For: If his hopes are to come to fruition, Kal wants to be the one to destroy the Cheliax government, permanently. Given this is a lofty goal, they'd be satisfied in merely engineering an entirely new type of musket.
What They Would Get Arrested For: In this day and age, being a Strix is enough to get them arrested. Probably the fact that he actively hunts down and kills slavers, aka the Cheliax government, doesn't help his case.
OC You Ship Them With: Kal's not looking for romance at the moment - though they're not against it.
OC Most Likely To Murder Them: I actually have no idea because I can't picture any of my ocs actively murdering...except Lex, probs. Definitely Lex actually.
Favorite Movie/Book Genre: I feel like Kal's def the sort of nerd to read non-fiction books about machinery and tinkering cover to cover.
Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: Hmm, they probably wouldn't be a fan of characters that are never really redeemed but join up with the protagonist with no reparation for their past acts. (Vegeta, for example)
Talents and/or Powers: Well, he's a Strix, so he has huge black wings he can fly with, as well as pupil-less eyes he can use to see in the dark. They're also a pretty accomplished tinkerer, and can repair flintlock muskets and pistols, their preferred weapons, with ease.
Why Someone Might Love Them: Kal's heart is in the right place, despite their actions specifically not being on the technically "good" side of things. They're dedicated and sincere.
Why Someone Might Hate Them: Kal's kind of an asshole. He isn't afraid to let someone know exactly what he thinks of them, which has led to more than a few fights.
How They Change: They've become less "I don't care about anyone except for myself" to very genuinely caring about their teammates, notably placing themself directly in harm's way to save a teammates life on at least one occasion.
Why You Love Them: Kal is just. So perfect. He's my favourite mix of ranged dps and intelligence without being a caster, and he has a very "take no shit" personality I would kill for. They also have my body type, so its good to draw a character as chunky as I am in dope ass clothes lol.
