at the risk of sounding extremely weird, have you ever heard of the game cookie run kingdom? if so, could you do some of your yanderes reactions to a darling that's absolutely obsessed with the game? maybe even to the point of having physical merchandise and going to events in person?
a/n: HELLO?? SHUT UP!! HAVE I HIT THE JACK POT?? THIS IS US RN!! 🥺🤝🏼🤡 (im the clown) but neway holy shit, what's the chances that id have a follower that's into yanderes and cookie run kingdom?? i don't know what to say other than thank you for winning ask of the week and here's your request! hope you enjoy! i know cotton candy cookie is from cookie run and she hasn't been transfered to cookie run kingdom but A PERSON CAN DREAM OKAY!
Tumblr media
warning: i definitely nerded out onto this post and im so sorry, some gacha gaming terms like whaling (putting down a lot of money to get a specific character you want) and pay to win (paying a lot of mini transations LOL)

Soren doesn't know about the app but he should. Yeong-bae has definitely mentioned it to him a good handful of times but he's bad at remembering things he's not interested in sometimes. For you, though, he'll try it. He definitely ends up not liking it though. He just doesn't get it. You sit there and watch the cookies fight the cake? Okay, and then what? You level them up so they can fight tougher cake? Interesting. The aesthetic is cute enough but he doesn't know if he'll play it in the long run. He'll definitely play it up in front of you though since he doesn't want to insult something you love
I think the one thing that'll really interest him is Parfait cookie. He knows what it feels like to busk, to have to work your ass off to get recognised, and then to finally have all that hard work be paid off. So, he likes her because he can relate to her. But he doesn't like her enough to pay to win or anything. Unfortunately, he's one of those people where he's just really lucky and he ends up pulling her multiple times (you definitely need him to press the button for you when you're pulling for cookies you want LOL)
When it comes to you, he'll indulge you. He doesn't get it at all. They're just cookies and the game isn't even that fun. But it makes you happy and there's nothing in the world he wants more than to make you happy. So, he buys you the merch, he goes to the events with you (disguised, of course, since he doesn't want the date to be cut off by paparazzi) and he lets you spend his money on the app. He does give you a cut off every month. You're only allowed to spend $500! No more! Maybe a little more on special events but-- Oh, don't give him those puppy dog eyes....

eun-jeong yoo ★ profile
Eun-jeong is definitely just a casual fan. It's cute, it's popular, he likes the aesthetic. It's just something he uses to pass the time sometimes when he's alone in the vet office. He'll log on every day to get his dailies done and he'll make sure not to waste any freebies he gets but he also doesn't spend any money on the app at all. He's free to play all the way. Also doesn't put too much thought on his team just sticks with the automatic teams or a team of his five strongest cookies. The biggest crime is that he just arranges all of his buildings in a grid pattern and literally doesn't care about how they're organised.
His favourite cookie is Financier cookie for sure. Eun-jeong kinda looks up to Financier cookie's personality. He loves that she's so strong-willed and that she's able to protect the people that she cares about. Low-key, Eun-jeong wants to be like that for you. He wants to be able to protect you and he wants to be able to be someone you can depend on like how a lot of people depend on Financier cookie! He also loves her aesthetic a lot.
When it comes to you, Eun-jeong would definitely fuel your addiction. He won't pay for anything on his account but he'll definitely give you his card if you want to pay to win. Also would definitely go with you to events or get you merchandise of your favourite cookie (and of Financier cookie so the two of you match!)
Tumblr media
liam arieh ★ profile
Liam doesn't know anything about the app until you mention it and, when you do, he checks it out. He's literally only been on it for an hour but he's already dropped like $100 like it's nothing. He's pay to win all the way and he's not ashamed of it LOL. He's already got the most popular and powerful cookies because of it. He's literally out here whaling. Definitely the type to be super into it when he starts but then like slowly plays it less and less. He'll always keep going back to it though because he likes having something the two of you both do together
His favourite cookie is Clotted Cream cookie just because he likes his vibes. Personally, I think scheming cocky bastards attract each other but that's just me. Liam also just really likes his aesthetic and likes the fact that he's a really powerful cookie. Sometimes, Liam will even ask you if the two of them look like each other. Cringe
When it comes to you, of course he supports your addiction. If you think he's willing to drop money just for his account, wait till you see how much he's willing to drop for yours. He'll also be happy to go to events with you and buy you merch. In fact, he'll buy you all of the merch! Your entire room will be infested with merch of your favourite cookies (plus some of Clotted Cream cookie, unfortunately)

ayaka yamato ★ profile
Ayaka knows the app. It's cute and it's popular so of course she's checked it out! She's definitely here for the aesthetic and the aesthetic only. She doesn't care about any of the strategy, the statistics, the gaming; nothing. She just likes that the cookies all look sweet and cute. Unlike literally anybody else on the list, her kingdom is thematic and decorated perfectly. She uses the kingdom save system so she can change her kingdom every single time her favourite color has changed. She has a set up for pinks, purples, blues-- And, of course, she's achieved this by using money to buy all the decorations and buildings, of course! All her cookies have the best skins too LOL cus, unlike everyone else, she spams the costume gacha instead of the cookie gacha.
Her favourite cookie is actually Strawberry Crepe cookie! It was a good tie between Strawberry Crepe cookie and Strawberry cookie. I think, if her darling's personality was a lot like Strawberry cookie, then Strawberry cookie would be her favourite because she finds her really really cute, her aesthetic is adorable and she's strawberries! But, if not, her favourite is Strawberry Crepe! Ayaka just relates a lot to being small and being looked down on but then absolutely kicking ass LOL And she likes that Strawberry Crepe has big dreams for herself! Plus, Strawberry Crepe cookie has the absolute cutest aesthetic too
When it comes to you, of course she'd support your addiction. She'd be way more hands-on about it though. If your kingdom looks like trash, she's taking your phone and she's fixing it! It doesn't have to be color coded like hers but c'mon, put some more effort into it! At least have little sections or something! And she'll definitely dress the two of you up in outfits inspired by your favourite cookies hwen the two of you go to events! It'll be so fun!
Tumblr media
ryuunosuke yamamoto ★ profile
Ryuu is already a huge fan and when he finds out that you're a fan too? He'll literally scream because the two of you can be fans together! He puts some thought into his kingdom decoration but not that much. Kind of just lines up all his shops and then decorations are in the other half LOL Definitely tries to get into the strategy part of the game but he's super bad at it and ends up just being slightly better than most players. He's only slightly pay to win but he's a recovering addict, okay! You're not supposed to go cold turkey when you quit!
His favourite cookie is Sea Fairy cookie. He's been a fan of the franchise since the original Cookie Run app and that's where he fell in love with Sea Fairy cookie! The way she's always longingly looking into the night sky, missing the love of her life (cough Moonlight cookie cough), and all the sad voice lines! He feels so sorry for her! Plus, she's his strongest cookie! And her aesthetic is so beautiful!~~
When it comes to your addiction, he'll try to do the good boyfriend thing and steer you away from it. He wants to be responsible and he knows, in the long run, it's bad to encourage it. But, oh god, he knows the pain. If you really really want to pay to win, though, you might end up dragging him back into his addictions too not that he would complain that much. Hewon't be as hesitant bringing you to events and buying you merch though! He'll get you guys matching couple stuff! Maybe you can be the Moonlight cookie to his Sea Fairy cookie?
Tumblr media
ryouta watanabe ★ profile
Another disgusting Cookie Run Kingdom fan LOL You might not even have to tell him you're into the game, you'll find him wearing merchandise of it or something somehow. He's the type that loves the aesthetic but also he's in the top 1% best players of the game. His team is doing like 200mil damage or some crazy shit. He's like over calculating the strats, making sure he's equipping the right stuff, etc. It also helps that he's pay to win the whole way (and it's probably the reason he's broke). He's also the guild master to one of the top guilds in the game and he's super strict about people logging in and doing their part. If you're inactive for a week, you're out! It's the top guild for a reason LOL
His favourite cookie is actually Cotton cookie and it's because she's one of the best support cookies in the game-- LOL but also because she's super cute and soft and kind and innocent which reminds him of you. No, it doesn't matter if you're some buff 6'6 guy! Cotton cookie still reminds him of you! That's how he sees you! This soft support character he needs to protect because your HP and defense stats are very low but you give him so much support and he just loves you so much!
When it comes to you, he definitely supports your addiction. In fact, he supports your addiction way too much. He'll like help you out with your team composition if you want him to, he'll let you borrow his card if you want to, he'll invite you into his guild, he'll remind you to log in every single day! He'll even log in for you if you'd like! And the two of you can just sit together on your phones, beating the asses of some cute cake hounds or something
Tumblr media
yeong-bae kigal ★ profile
Another idiot with way too much time on their hands LOL Yeong-bae is definitely way too into Cookie Run Kingdom and it shows. A lot of their salary goes into gacha games and mobile games. In fact, they have like several phones because of it (one phone for work, one phone for gacha games, one phone for photos, one phone for normal stuff). It's really unfortunate. But they're a lot like Ryouta where they're the 1% of players on the app because they're so good at calculating strategy and stats. Unlike Ryouta, they also care a lot about aesthetics so they make his kingdom look good too. They're both on the same guild! They're actually an officer in Ryouta's guild LOL
Their favourite cookie is Pure Vanilla cookie and, not to be repetitive, but it's because he reminds them of you! Pure Vanilla is so healing and good, someone that brings so much light to everyone around him. That's what it feels like being around you! For Yeong-bae, just standing next to you is like standing on stage, in the spotlight! And being with you, talking with you and spending time with you, is like being healed by Pure Vanilla cookie! Definitely way over-levels Pure Vanilla cookie because of this sole fact LMAO
When it comes to you, what is he earning for if not to fuel your life joys? If he can't make you happy by letting you whale or by letting you buy your favourite merchandise, what's the point in being a popstar? Unfortunately, he can't easily go to the events. He'll have to wear a mask the entire time or he'll have to wear a disguise. But it's worth it if the two of you can go on a cute date!

Name(s): *sigh* I don’t make this easy as my SNs are different everywhere lol thecuriouslo on twitter, scimitar-and-longsword here, I used to write a bunch of LOTR and SPN  fics YEARS ago so one of my pseuds is CasintheShire (I orphaned all those fics lol) but my main is thelittlelo/Lolo.... I’ve also got a secret ao3 account where I’ve posted more than one “taboo” fic.... that you will never find lol
Fandom(s): Obviously TOG is my main right now, but Star Wars is always right there too.... other than that?? Idk I was into lotr and spn for a long time (as I already mentioned) and atla/korra, teen wolf and kingsman have all had their moment too.
Where you post: AO3. I’ve got a couple things here on tumblr.... but they always make their way to the archive eventually. (speaking of... I should transfer my most recent prompt fics....)
Most Popular One Shot (by kudos): Brothers Fight (518 kudos) which is my take on Joe and Booker starting to work through their issues following London.
Most Popular Multi-Chapter (by kudos): Share Your Address (1699 kudos) which is my Uni AU... which I’m sure you’re all sick of hearing about by now lol
Favorite story you’ve written so far: I would say SYA or Brothers Fight... but instead of repeating I’ll say it’s Collapsing Walls which is my Book of Nile whump lol.... I’m real mean to Booker in it... poor guy.  Low key I think it might be my Big Bang though.... I’m having so much fun writing it, I can’t wait to post it!
Fic you were nervous to post: fucking all of them!!! I’m always nervous.... But I guess the one that was the worst was It Feels Like Flying. I hadn’t written full on smut in a LONG time. I felt so silly and awkward..... I THINK I did ok though??? idk lol
How do you choose your titles?: Depends. I usually have descriptive or joke titles as I’m writing, but I usually just end up going with something simple and descriptive. (SYA is the one exception here lol)
Do you outline?: Yeah. My outlines are all over the places though, mostly they end up being bits of dialogue and jokes lol
Complete: Officially??? Nine. but there’s a lot more of my work out there lol, some of it orphaned, some of it on other accounts.
In-Progress: Published WIPs, two. Both of which I have not abandoned I PROMISE! I’ve just been working on a few other things behind the scenes. (Big Bang, Zine One Shot, and my SYA holiday fic, all of which have deadlines I need to hit so other things got pushed to the background)
Coming soon/not yet started: ahahahaha how much time do you have?? I’ll Never Love Another - my big bang, Prince Yusuf/Knight Nicolo - lots of letter writing and pining... it’s fluffy angst, as is my brand lol Everything I Did to Get to You - SYA holiday special 😏 Impelled by the Persuasion of Love - My fic for the TOG Zine... which is taking me way too long for how short it is. (You’ll have to buy the Zine or wait a long time for this one... but safe to say I thought of a really sweet and fluffy idea... and then made it emo lol) Free Fall - It Feels Like Flying sequel Pilot!Nicky POV this time. it’s just smut lol I Padri d’Iatlia - Yes I’m still working on this.... I’ll post it at some point I PROMISE Mission Fic (temp title lol) - This is actually the very first thing I started writing for this fandom.... it’s quite long and I’ll post it once it’s completed.... but that won’t be for a while. Sniper/Spotter - Joe/Nicky and Book of Nile one shot that I have had about 75% completed for like 3 months lol  To Winter in Russia - Book of Nile get together fic.... Snowed in, there was only one bed, slow burn. it’s delicious and I already have like 20k written.... once again I probably won’t post until it’s complete... though I’ve posted some snippets from it on tumblr before. There are three different A/B/O fics that will end up on the forbidden AO3 at some point lol I have like 6 other docs too lol, but they’re all named things like Rockstar/Artist and are mostly just a few bullet pointed ideas. AND this doesn’t even take into account the half finished chapters of Sword of the First Crusader, As You Wish and my FinnPoe fics... I am an ADHD mess and have trouble focusing on one project 😅😅
Prompts?: I’ve never been HUGE into prompts.... I have way too many of my own ideas taking up space in my brain. What I do tend to like prompts for is when I’ve hit a wall in something I’ll ask for prompts, or reblog a prompt list. So you know ya girl is struggling when you see those lol
Upcoming work you’re most excited about: My Prince/Knight Big Bang, 100%.

IoT-powered Healthcare Solutions: Redefining the Medical Industry!
Tumblr media
IoT (Internet of Things) is one of those technological marvels of the modern era that has digitally transformed the Healthcare sector by introducing smart healthcare apps. These healthcare IoT applications have helped the medical industry to overcome the existent roadblocks and limitations in its functioning. IoT App Development Companies have empowered the practitioners, patients, and service providers to unfold new horizons.  This has resulted in simplified access to medical facilities through remote communication and reduced mortality rate on account of avant-garde treatment methodologies. Needless to say, the rate of adoption of IoT App Solutions has sky-rocketed and an upward demand curve has been observed.
Take a look at this interesting statistical data released by Statistica, indicating the estimated size of the IoT Healthcare market (in billion US $) between 2016 and 2025.
Tumblr media
Fortune Business Insights predicts that the IoT in Healthcare market size will soar up to USD 176.82 Billion by the end of 2026.
In this blog, I have penned down how IoT in Healthcare has revolutionized the fundamental tenets of this domain and the immense benefits of IoT Application Development
reaped by the patients, doctors, and service providers unanimously.
IoT in a nutshell
Internet of Things comprises of a network of devices and software applications, interconnected via computer networks and wireless communication channels. This ingenious eco-system is meant for collecting and sharing real-time data. Data is stored in cloud platforms and can be remotely accessed by authorized users from any part of the globe. IoT in Healthcare has worked wonders in domains like telehealth, mHealth, telemedicine, etc. Let’s dive into some of the use cases in the healthcare domain.
Popular Use cases of IoT Applications in Healthcare
Tumblr media
Remote patient Diagnoses and Observation
IoT empowered solutions record the necessary health parameters to facilitate remote patient diagnoses and monitoring. This is one of the important features of IoT in telemedicine apps.
Doctor-patient consultations take place through live audio and video call, and other advanced communication channels, without the need for patients to pay a visit to the hospital. IoT powered external devices such as digital stethoscopes, oximeters, etc are being used by patients during digital telemedicine consultations.
IoT activity monitoring devices such as heart rate monitoring cuffs, glucometers, pulse meters, etc. used by the patients enable the doctors to remotely observe the health of elderly patients and those with chronic conditions. The data obtained from these devices aid the physicians to identify the correct course of treatment for patients.
Mobile Health and Wellness
IoT mobile app development has elevated wellness to a completely new level. Wearables like Apple watches, Fitbits, etc transmit patient’s vital health parameters through Bluetooth, Wifi, GPRS Networks and display the results in the smartphones. This proves immensely beneficial in keeping a track of the body vitals and other wellness parameters such as sleep patterns, body temperature, heart rate, blood sugar level, activity tracking, etc. and providing real-time data to the patient, their doctors, and caregivers. For example, a Holter monitor device is a wearable that tracks abnormalities in a patient’s heartbeat. This helps in timely preventive care. Click here to gain more insights on wearable technology.
IoT powered ingestible devices
These ingenious ingestible sensors available in the form of pills can be swallowed and it remains inside the human body and stay at a particular spot and sends data to mobile applications. The sensors embedded inside these pills detect drug doses taken and missed by the patient. Some of these pills have an in-built camera that provides visibility of the internal organs. Thus, ingestible devices prevent life-threatening conditions.
Emergency handling
IoT facilitates the accurate collection of patient data in case of medical emergencies and transmission of this data in real-time to the Emergency Response medical staff. This allows the ER staff to stay prepared while the patient is being brought to the hospital and no time is wasted after the patient’s arrival.
Aiding surgeries
IoT powered tools and applications provide handy assistance during surgeries and in handling post-surgery care. The IoT sensors accumulate data, transmit it, and analyze the same, resulting in finding out even the tiniest problem, and thereby preventing surgical complications.
Efficient Tracking of Patients, Staff, and Inventory
Smart IoT healthcare solutions contribute in the following ways:
Wireless ID cards for staff and patients enhance security, effectively manage admissions, and simplify staff management.
RFID tags are used to track patients such as babies and elderly patients with Alzheimer's disease and even staff members in case of urgency.
IoT integrates with Real-time location systems (RTLS) to manage the assets of healthcare enterprises. It employs BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and iBeacon to track supplies in the operating rooms and inventory.
Virtual Monitoring of medical equipment
The contemporary healthcare services require avant-garde software and hardware equipment and their continuous monitoring, to prevent them from system failures and cyber-attacks. IoT powered solutions virtually monitor them and provide alerts to the medical staff if some anomaly is detected.
Managing Pharmacy
Managing the drugs in a hospital and transferring the same safely to storage facilities is a herculean task with chances of errors. Pharmacies managed by IoT application enable faster delivery of medicines and takes care of drug-preservation issues while transfer.
Handling insurance procedures
Insurance companies leverage IoT devices to validate claims and detect fraudulent practices with the help of the data captured by these devices. Such devices also enhance the transparency between insurance providers and customers regarding processes like pricing, underwriting, handling claims, and assessing risks.
Architecting an IoT Environment in healthcare
Steps to be followed by Digital healthcare service providers for the implementation of IoT are as follows:
Deploying devices possessing sensors, monitors, actuators, camera systems, actuators, and detectors to accumulate data.
Conversion of received data to the digital format and store the same in a data center.
Managing and analyzing the medical data with the help of data analytics based on which the correct course of action is decided.
Key Advantages of IoT powered Healthcare IT services
Easy access to healthcare facilities
Remote doctor monitoring and consultation facilities make healthcare and wellness easily accessible to patients with less mobility, the ones residing in remote areas with no hospitals nearby, and the super-busy professionals who hardly find time to visit the clinic. Moreover, the patients have a plethora of options at their disposal while choosing doctors.
Misdiagnosis of diseases
IoT system with the help of computer vision, sensors can collect data from several IoT devices and leverages advanced analytics enabling providers to know the course of the disease and thus avoid the wrong diagnosis of diseases. Faster and error-free diagnoses of diseases, continuous patient monitoring, and proactive treatment methodologies are some of the major gains for patients opting for digital healthcare services.
Lesser negligence and better adherence to treatment plans
Thanks to the IoT healthcare monitoring solutions encourage patients to stick to their treatment procedures and help the doctors to stay informed about the patient’s condition without much ado.
Operational Flexibility
Online diagnoses with the help of IoT Mobile apps allows doctors to enjoy flexible schedules without having to visit the clinic in case of non-emergencies.
Lesser crowd in hospital spaces
Digitally smart healthcare centers can do away with over-crowded waiting rooms, and as such can manage with lesser spaces and fewer administrative staff. Furthermore, the chances of healthcare staff getting infected with contagious diseases lessen.
Cost-efficiency
IoT healthcare solutions enable doctors to scale up the patient count by diagnosing more patients in a day.
On account of digital real-time consultation and monitoring, patients save on the cost by avoiding unnecessary hospital visits, longer hospital stays, and readmissions.
Augments Brand value
Implementing IoT powered smart solutions and motivating the patients to adopt these technologies enhances the brand value of a company and provides them a competitive edge over others and improves overall patient satisfaction too.
Final Verdict
IoT in Healthcare has redefined healthcare services altogether by opening up a wide range of convenient options for patients, practitioners, and healthcare service providers. It’s high time that the healthcare operators incorporate IoT healthcare solutions in their practice operations if they would like to make a mark in today’s dynamic and competitive market.

BTS Seoul mates: Dream couple.4
[MASTERLIST]
Pairing: Hoseok x Reader
Rating: A little angst
Warning: If you are triggered by Finances, Poverty, mortgages and Disappointment. Please don’t read.
Summary: You saw him every night in your dreams since you were a child. He was funny, a great dancer, really close with his friends. The only problem was you couldn’t see his face. In dreams, every face you see is one you have seen in real life, so you knew you had never met him. That is until your friend shows you her favourite band.
Tumblr media
Hoseok was happy to be home, he enjoyed the comfort and familiarity of his own room. Laying across his bed his mind reeling from their holiday in New Zealand. It was such a lovely experience. I hope Army enjoy the footage and they love our girls as much as we do. No one could hate my Dream. He grabbed his phone and sent you a message, telling you that he had arrived home safely.
Hoseok got the overwhelming feeling of being trapped in his own thoughts. Needing to speak with someone he walked to Namjoon’s room and knocked on the door. “Hey Namjoon, oh are you busy?” He saw his leader looking just as tired from the flights and car rides and holiday away from home. Yet he looked happy, his smile masking his low energy. He was face timing his soulmate.
“It’s all good you can talk, what’s wrong you look upset?”
“Well we have all found our soulmates and they are all planning to visit except for Y/n, she can’t afford it. She is working to pay for uni and support her parents and family” Hoseok said from the doorway.
“Namjoon I have the jumper that Jungkook borrowed- sorry Hobi Oppa did I interrupt?”
“I was just discussing how my soulmate can’t come to see me because she is working to support her family.
Beau leaned on the doorframe thinking quietly, waving at Namjoon’s soulmate through the phone. She hummed listening for a while before leaving abruptly, Hoseok raised an eyebrow and sighed “it can’t be helped and she won’t let me pay for anything. She doesn’t want it to appear like she is using me”
“I got an idea Oppa, follow me” Beau popped her head back from the hallway with a laptop and video camera in hand. She sat down and explained her plan to Hoseok before beginning a live stream on her channel. “Hello everyone it’s Beau, I am making a live stream for a young girl, who has a really rare soulmate link. She found her soulmate but is supporting her family and working to pay for her tuition. I am asking my fans and followers whether the leftover fund you had donated for me to find my soulmate can help her reach hers”
There were many Army who donated for you to visit Hoseok. Beau checked the time, it was the morning where you lived. Making a phone call from to your Parents, Hosoek and Beau explained what they wanted to do. They seemed on board with the idea. Though they had only spoken to Hoseok twice, they loved him dearly. Especially when he wanted her to finish her degree. The donation covered her University fees entirely with leftover for her to visit Korea if she wished.
Hoseok called you next and explained that they had paid for your tuition. You were so shocked and thankful. Sending a message to the fans with tears rolling down your face. “That means any money I make is my money to come see you” you sniffed the idea of being able to see your soulmate overwhelming.
Hoseok watched you happily but he yawned getting tired from jet lag, “We should sleep now love, I will see you in my dreams” The live stream ended and Hoseok felt better with what had happened and laid down on his bed drifting off until he appeared in your bedroom.
Tumblr media
You were working out your bills with Uni fees now completely covered. You lived with your family so you didn’t exactly pay rent. You made on average two to five thousand dancing and at the cafe about eleven dollars an hour not including tips.
The nice young girl named Beau who was one of Hoseok’s friends’ soulmate asked for your bank details to transfer the donations and within the hour you had paid your fees and had money to spare. There was Twenty-four thousand leftover in your account, you had never felt this secure in your life. There were no worries of making it through the week, no budgeting, no skipping meals to pay for your father’s medicine. The moment the exams were finished you wanted to be on a flight to Seoul.
It was happening you were going to go see him, you grabbed your bag it was early in the morning but you were going to wait outside the post office until they opened to get some papers for a passport. And then you would book tickets plan what to pack.
As you stepped out of your room, you heard your parents talking at the dinner table, “thank gosh we don’t have to worry about her fees”
“Now it’s just the mortgage” your father sighed
“How much is left?”
“Last time I checked there was about thirty thousand” your father sighed rubbing his face looking wearily. “And then I can finally start saving to retire”
Your family were like the Weasleys so many people under one roof, the guilt set in and you looked at your bank balance on your phone. You leaned your head back against the wall and looked up at the ceiling. “Hoseok, I am sorry, I just can’t leave them like this.”
Sending the money to your families mortgage repayments. You had a plan, grabbing your work bag you went to the cafe early to wait tables.
Tumblr media
As soon as your shift ended and you got a few tips which you were happy for. You drove across town to the club switching the work bags in the boot of your car.
Getting dolled up in the dressing room, you were going to work hard. You put on a bright neon purple piece that flowed under the black lights it was eye-catching. You needed eye-catching while other girls wore red, black and white all blending in and looking the same you wanted to draw attention. You headed out to the stage and wrote your name down for multiple dances, you were going to work hard.
Tumblr media
Dragging your aching feet into the change rooms you showered removing the smell of alcohol and cigars from your skin. Pulling on a pair of sweats and a hoodie, your face felt lighter now that it was free of makeup. Stashing away the tips you had made just over six thousand and you drove home stopping by a late-night ATM and transferring the money into the machine.
The lights were on in the house when you got home, you checked the time it was 4:30 your father must be getting ready for work. Sending the money from your bank to the mortgage it was fully paid off. Relief flooded through you. Not only does the money you make now go to you, the money your family makes got to them. You no longer felt guilty.
You father was getting ready to work sitting at the breakfast bar drinking a coffee and eating some toast. You had about three hours before you had to leave for uni you had to pack your dance bag and some lunch.
“y/n?” he called softly and you turned and walked over. He turned his laptop towards you and he sighed “I received an email saying that twenty-four thousand dollars was transferred into the mortgage account yesterday. You walked over and hit the refresh button watching as the numbers in the account went from owing to saved. “but that was money for you to go overseas people donated for you”
Another car pulled into the driveway and your father looked guilty and sick “I will go overseas now that I know everyone is able to live comfortably here debt-free. Look I am in love with Jung Hoseok and when I go over there it will kill me to have to leave, so there is a chance that I will live in South Korea for the rest of my life. I want to go over knowing that everyone and everything is okay right now”
Your mother walked in dropping her keys on the bench looking tired from the night shift at the hospital “how was your sleepover you look tired again y/n?”
“It was good” you smiled your father explained what you had done and your mother cried hugging you. She apologized that you had to sacrifice such an opportunity, that they had failed as parents for letting you pay it.
You knew this whole time Hoseok had been watching so you excused yourself to lay down in your room exhausted, “I’m sorry I really wanted to see you but I needed to do this first. I needed to settle this, so I could leave, because something tells me when I see you I won’t ever leave you so I need my family to be financially stable”
“My fund to come to see you is now at zero, but I will work hard, I promise” Hoseok touched your cheek and you smiled softly drifting off to sleep, you were so tired and he just wanted to hold you and tell you everything was okay and he understood.

So at the start of 2019, I made the resolution to read more books! I used to be a voracious reader as a kid, but between college and grad school I kind of...forgot how to do that? So I got myself a library card (clutch, tbh) and spent the year enjoying free books and audiobooks!
Below the cut are the books that I read with short reviews about them. They aren’t the only books I started, but the cool thing about a library card is that since the books are free, you don’t feel bad about not finishing them if you don’t like them!
Take a gander, maybe you’ll find your next favorite read!
Brief summary, meaning my favorite books of the year: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir, Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, and An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green!
As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of the Princess Bride by Cary Elwes 7/10 IDK if I enjoyed this because of nostalgia or because it was the first book I borrowed with my fancy dancy library card but either way it was nice to read a first hand account of one of my favorite movies, written by an actor that obviously feels a lot of affection towards it. Snaps to you, Cary Elwes.
Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo 7/10 I read it because it was Wonder Woman! She saves a girl who washes up on the shores of Themyscira and goes on an adventure to save her from ancient magic forces. TBH it wasn’t anything earth shattering but it was a fun, adventurous read and an entertaining story. Minus two points because Leigh Bardugo got paid to write fanfiction and I haven’t achieved that yet.
The Selection by Keira Cass 6/10 It was interesting enough to finish the audiobook, and I continued it because I was curious as to what would happen. It’s almost like a medieval AU of The Bachelor. But then the dreaded love triangle came up and I didn’t like where it was going so I didn’t finish the sequel. Entertaining enough, but not one I would go back to.
Wicked Appetite / Wicked Business / Wicked Charms by Janet Evanovich 6/10 Again, juuuuuuuust interesting enough for me to finish the audiobooks. It was the first audiobooks I got with ye olde librarie carde so that’s probably why I was so attached to finishing them. Also it’s about a girl that has magic baking powers, which is also probably why I wanted to finish it. She has to track down dragon balls or something I can’t really remember but it wasn’t bad.
Outlander / Dragonfly in Amber / Voyager by Diana Gabaldon 8/10 I LOVED Outlander, loved Dragonfly in Amber slightly less, and could barely finish Voyager. The series is about a British WWII nurse who gets sent back in time to 1793 Scotland and has to navigate all that mess. Jamie Fraser and eventually Fergus are the crown jewels of this story. Outlander was fantastic to me, it was interesting and funny and saucy and all in all a good story about time travel and the repercussions. There’s like, five more books in the series but again, I lost interest. I’ll probably go back and see what happens though cause I think Gabaldon brings in new characters.
The Lost Girls of Paris by Pam Jenoff 8/10 A book about women spies in WWII France?? Fighting the Nazis and falling in love and being heroes?? Loved it. The characters were real and the fear palpable. Minus two points cause the love subplot was a touch underdeveloped but who knows man war changes things.
A Conjuring of Light by VE Schwab 9/10 The third in the series starting with A Darker Shade of Magic. I loooooooved the characters in this story, the plot twists were exciting instead of annoying, and the way that she uses magic and secrets and reveals were perfection. And I actually really enjoyed the ending, which is surprising. Would read again.
An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green 9/10 A super interesting story about a mysterious sculpture that appears in New York and the subsequent fallout of crazy things that happen. I listened to the audiobook and the narrators were perfect, the story is fast paced and has good twists and the characters are super real and relatable and fallible. TBH I read it cause it’s John Green’s brother (I assume, I didn’t fact check) and he did NOT disappoint. Minus one point just cause I can’t bring myself to give out 10′s a lot.
Cinder by Marissa Meyer 8/10 Honestly? People shit on this book but I really enjoyed it. It’s fun and heart wrenching and an interesting take on the Cinderella story. One of these days I’ll finish Scarlet which is the sequel.
The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger 6/10 Holy shit this was way more intense than I anticipated it being. It was a really good take on time travel and the way it affects people. Truth be told I never saw the movie, but this book was crazy and saucy and super interesting. I didn’t give it a higher rating just cause the time traveler knew his wife since she was six and that doesn’t sit well with me.
Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli 7/10 Both the movie and the book were good, with all the drama and heartache of 1) being a teenager and 2) coming out to the people around him. Very poignant and emotional. Didn’t give it a higher rating just cause it wasn’t super memorable to me? But then again, that’s cause I’m a twenty-something woman and not a teenage gay boy so while it was beautifully written and definitely a very important book, it just wasn’t one of my faves.
Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly 7/10 More women in WWII! Now with all this boss historical fiction coming out I can definitely see why guys are so obsessed with WWII. Then again, I think I would be obsessed with any stories detailing how badass women are during the war. It covers stories from all sides of the war - including the Nazis - and makes it seem so much more real. I started reading the sequel but it wasn’t quite as interesting.
The Diviners by Libba Bray 8/10 A fun fantasy mystery set in 1920′s New York! With ghosts and demons and magic powers and flappers! I really enjoyed it and am currently working on the sequel. The jargon is what really gets me like it’s so Great Gatsby but better. Would recommend.
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi 7/10 A patient recommended this to me. It’s about a girl imprisoned because she has powers and that is Dangerous. It’s of course a post-apocalyptic military state situation, and she’s trying to escape and low key start an uprising. A really good story with a really interesting voice to the main character. Like, this writing style was SO DIFFERENT and amazing, I’ve never read anything like it. I didn’t continue the series just because the voice was SO good and in tune that it kinda stressed me out.
Time After Time by Lisa Grunwald 6/10 An A+ concept about a ghost in the New York subway and the man who loves her. It’s an interesting take on a lil paranormal romance. I loved the lore and the historical setting (it takes place in like, the 40′s) and really paints a fantastic scene!
Berserker by Emmy Laybourne 8/10 Listen, this book was not something historians will be talking about for years to come. But it’s about a family of siblings who have magic Nordic powers and have to escape Norway and come to the US (which is in prime Old West time) to find their uncle. And they meet a COWBOY. It’s a story about family and love and also occasionally killing people because you have the blood of Odin or some shit and honestly? Catered directly to me.
Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson 8/10 A fun and cool murder mystery set in a special fancy boarding school. Maureen Johnson has been one of my faves for a long time and she did not disappoint with this! It’s about a girl obsessed with a murder at the school, and she transfers in so she can solve it. And the TWIST at the END? Great!
An Ember in the Ashes / A Torch Against the Night / A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir 9/10 Another 9 because I can’t bring myself to give a 10, though if anything this series would get it. The voices that Tahir writes with are INCREDIBLE and the story is nuanced and compelling and so good. It’s about a teenager trying to save her brother from prison, as well as a guy graduating from assassin school. I don’t wanna say too much cause I don’t want to spoil if anyone reads it but tbh if you only pick one series PICK THIS ONE. If you like fantasy and stuff of course.
The Huntress by Kate Quinn 8/10 Listen. Mystery solving New York girl, post war. Men hunting former Nazis. Bicon Russian girl who was in the Russian Air force. Do I really need to say more? A phenomenal story that takes place before, during, and after WWII, and the wide variety of stories happening during that time. Great if you love historical fiction!
Sourdough by Robin Sloan 8/10 Just like Berserker this book probably isn’t something they’re gonna teach in English classes. But it’s about a girl who works in robotics on proprioception (!!!) and then?? Starts baking bread??? AKA everything I love in life so, you know, once again a book catering specifically to me.
Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riorden 7/10 As always, Riorden delivers a phenomenal story with phenomenal characters. And it includes populations that aren’t often the main characters in literature - a homeless teen and a Muslim teen, to name two. I haven’t continued the series just cause I got distracted with other things, but I totally want to.
I’m Not Dying with You Tonight by Kimberly Jones 7/10 A grand adventure that takes place over the course of one night in Atlanta. When a riot breaks out, two girls who haven’t spoken or really know each other are pushed together and spend the rest of the night trying to survive and make it home. It demonstrates two sides of life, and how they’re the same and how they’re different. I listened to the audiobook, which had phenomenal readers.
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee 8/10 A story about a spoiled rich bi boy who’s going on one final tour of Europe before he has to settle down and run his family’s estate. His best friend and his sister are with him, and of course everything goes to hell in a handbasket. But it’s a crazy journey and an excellent coming of age story.
In The Woods / The Likeness by Tana French 8/10 AMAZING murder mysteries! The first is about the murder of a kid in Ireland, and the toll it takes on the investigators and people around them. It has an amazing twist at the end, and even though it takes a while for them to solve the murder, it never gets boring. Same with the second one! It’s a crazy situation that would never happen in real life, but she writes it SO WELL that i don’t even care! I will probably skip the third one cause it’s about a character I don’t really like and also takes place in the past before all of this, but I do want to continue reading these!
Stay Sexy and Don’t Get Murdered by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark 8/10 A great book of essays written by the voices behind “My Favorite Murder,” which is a hilarious and semi-informative true crime podcast. But they talk about more than just true crime in the book - in fact, it’s more about things that they’ve learned throughout their crazy lives. Super eye opening and also really entertaining, and I actually listened to it before I even listened to the podcast, so I feel like that’s saying something!

So I got bored and answered an entire ask meme.
Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-fic.
My comfort zone for writing might be emotional angst.
Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?
Sci-fi, the kind with ships and space aliens, probably similar to Star Wars but with my own spin on it
Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?
I wouldn’t be so dramatic with the wording, but I will not write kidfic (that’s when some are kids and others aren’t, right?) or de-aging. I would only write characters as kids if it’s part of a super long series and they all age together. And I haven’t even done that.
How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?
Charles Xavier supposedly died but his consciousness was recovered by scientists and then transferred to a cloned body of his. Then they get scared when he starts to actually use his power.
Share one of your strengths.
Painful scenes.
Share one of your weaknesses.
Fluff
Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
He rubbed his head. They just would not stop.
- sun is dropping - did you hear - the bodies should -
Bodies?
- be at the bottom -
His hand lowered to his side. Did he catch the thought of a murderer? He could pick it out over the usual hum. So he was nearby.
The door to the inn opened and someone walked inside.
There was a flash of a moment in Charles’ mind. A group of men. Their faces pierced grotesquely by their own fishing hooks. And dragged to the bottom of the sea.
The screaming was chilling. But… but...
It was no ordinary person that committed that sinful act. He was gifted, like Charles himself.
Someone bumped into him and Charles caught the image of a girl. Bruised. Starved. ‘They give one fish for using us.’
‘Using you?’
‘Our bodies. We would fight, but… Food is food.’
“Private room for one if you can.”
It was not out of pure cruelty, not from an evil nature. He was stopping those that brought pain to others.
“Charles, let’s go,” Raven said, key in hand.
“He is with us as well,” he stated, getting the man to turn and stare at him.
======
The Gifted, Chapter One
I like this scene here. We see Charles’ just picking up the thoughts of others because he cannot control his powers yet. We get a glimpse into what Erik did, and even why he did it (although that is also an earlier scene). But the closer Erik gets, the more Charles can see, showing that proximity is a big factor in what Charles can see when it comes to mind reading.
Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
Charles faced him. “I am not sure how much I can tell you.”
“You read my mind.”
“It is the loudest.”
Erik folded his arms. “So what can you tell me?”
“Only about my life after the age of twelve. But I warn you, I am terribly boring.”
“You are a mind reader. How is that boring?”
“But that is just what I can do. Aside from that I'm a boring person, really.”
“Let me decide that,” Erik said.
Charles nibbled his lip while he decided where to start, his mind catching a question from the other man. “Of course you would want to know more about that.”
“Of course. Because you were hurt.”
Shaking his head, Charles said, “I really do not know who she is. That all happened just before Raven.”
“What do you mean, just before?”
He gazed at the floor. “My earliest memory is running. Just running. There is nothing before that.” His arms came up, wrapped around himself. “There is just the stars above me, the cool breeze, the night sky. Cold grass beneath me that crunched with every step.”
Erik came closer.
“My lungs were burning, my heart was racing, I… I just kept thinking ‘run’.”
“And you don’t know why.”
“I don’t. I was in the woods. And I tripped over a tree root. I suppose it was lucky. Raven happened to be hiding nearby. She found me.” He raised his head and looked at Erik. “In the dream, that woman… she… you know.”
“Choked me,” Erik finished for him.
“Yes. Well. That part, it… it must have really happened.” Charles swallowed down the emotions trying to force their way out. “I didn’t… I didn’t know until she said… there were marks.” He moved a hand down his neck. “I know my power is protecting me. Or I would remember all of it, or… maybe be even worse off. Not sure. But whatever it was had to be... really, really horrible.”
Erik stood in front of him. “But you survived it.”
“I don’t know how. I… don't want to know.”
=======
The Gifted, Chapter Four
This scene, I think I pulled it off well. Charles’ emotional explanation of what he does remember from the time just before meeting Raven.
Which fic has been the hardest to write?
That would be So Beautiful, simply because there’s a lot of subs but no comments, anywhere, period. The number of comments really does make a difference in how quickly something might be updated, you know. (And at this point, I’ve temporarily fallen out of MCU love and am now focused on X-Men, cherik specifically)
Which fic has been the easiest to write?
Currently, that is The Gifted. I’m already writing chapter 8, but only up to 5 is posted so far. Probably a good thing because I edited both 6 and 7 maybe three times now.
Is writing your passion or just a fun hobby?
Both. I am passionate about writing, but the fanfiction part has to be a hobby. Now I just need to get working on my original work more.
Is there an episode above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?
For me it’s moves, and probably X-Men: The First Class right now.
What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?
When you’re writing a fight scene, you are doing it because you want the character to get hurt. Even if they run away, you need to have the injury goal in mind, because that determines the way the characters move and all that. So decide the injury goal first.
What’s the worst writing advice you’ve ever come across?
Never use -ing, never use -ly, never use blah blah blah.
If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?
I can think of three right away, but I would say The Gifted.
If you only could write one pairing for the rest of your life, which pairing would it be?
Fuck... right now, cherik.
Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?
Generally start to finish, but I will occasionally outline random scenes for the end. I’m always planning for the end and then get stuck in the middle.
Do you use any tools, like worksheets or outlines?
I’ve tried. Right now I have a tiny notebook map for The Gifted, and a few scenes outlined, but that’s it.
Stephen King once said that his muse is a man who lives in the basement. Do you have a muse?
I don’t think so. I wouldn’t know if I do or not. Maybe it’s James himself lol. His various characters influence a lot.
Describe your perfect writing conditions.
Cat is napping, tv isn’t super loud, I’m not expected to socialize, nothing I want to pay attention to is going to be on, it’s not after 9pm yet, I have ideas and the perfect soundtrack and plenty of empty pages to use.
How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?
Depends. Prompt fills are lucky to get any revision. The Gifted goes through my own editing as well as my beta’s. Promised Love and A Lie to Live, when they were getting weekly updates, had one revision each, right after typing, and then were immediately posted. I stressed over those two a lot during that time though. Not doing it that way again lol.
Choose a passage from one of your earlier fics and edit it into your current writing style. (Person sending the ask is free to make suggestions).
From Comfort Original:
It had been a bad night, the tower getting cooler than usual as the wind whipped around outside. Even with how well it was built, the windows still had a slight rattle against the force of it. Bucky hated the cold, too many negative memories involved. Watching outside, he knew he was safe, knew that the chances of something coming up this high, without him noticing it, were extremely low, but he still worried. He couldn't go back to Steve, though. Things had been getting a little complicated between them, mostly due to the man that had taken them in.
Edit:
The wind howled outside, chilling the tower more than usual. The windows rattled with every strong gust. Bucky stared outside. The cold reminded him of being thrown from the train, of being frozen for days, weeks, months at a time. It made him think of HYDRA, and even though he knew the chances of anyone sneaking up on the team here were extremely low, he couldn’t stop the worry from creeping up on him.
But he couldn’t even seek out his best friend for comfort after their fight over the man that had been kind enough to take them in.
If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why?
I already decided I will be doing this for A Lie to Live, because I know I can write it so much better now.
Have you ever deleted one of your published fics?
Never. Anything I’ve ever posted, you can still find it if you know where to look.
Although it looks like one site decided to delete my work. And my account. I have backups on my flash drive, I’m pretty sure, but still.
Always back stuff up. This was mostly original though. Too high rated for fictionpress.
What do you look for in a beta?
Mostly that they will be okay with the content I want to create. I tend to write darker stuff (had a beta for violent vampire fic and have a beta for dark x-men fantasy au), so it’s good to know they will be okay with that. Also things that I think may be triggering, I mention ahead of time before I write it. Just to be sure everything is still good.
Do you beta yourself? If so, what kind of beta are you?
I tend to be my own beta and mostly catch typos and reword stuff, change the flow if I have to, maybe move a scene or a chapter.
Being a beta for others? I fix grammar mostly. I feel like I’m shit at suggestions though lol.
How do you feel about collaborations?
I love them but they never get finished lol. There’s two people I’ve collaborated with on different stories over the years, one I started a page with, and someone that was interested, but that’s it.
My only issues these days, with the invention of google docs and able to write back and forth and all that, I am a shy writer so I will wait for the other person to leave the document, especially during... certain scenes...
And also, that the breaks in between adding a part does not exceed a week. The last one I worked on has now passed a year since anything added, so I don’t think it will be updated again any time soon.
Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.
LadyDarkPhoenix because she got me into fanfic and into the MCU fandom and her ideas are awesome. One of the people I’ve collaborated with for years over different stories.
NotEvenCloseToStraight has some of the best fics. I haven’t read any for awhile for a variety of reasons (not to do with her, my own distracted mind and now fandom switch really) but she is amazing and a sweet person.
Kellyscams has written some amazing stuff. Just, really check them out.
If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
Um... Oh, this is tough. I think I’m mostly reading prompt fills and wips right now.
Maybe a sequel to Coming Home by helens78, only because I didn’t know how much I wanted Wesley/Charles until then. And then add in the implied interest in Erik as well, and yes.
Do you accept prompts?
I do.
Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?
It varies. Prompt fills lately are more canon compliant, but if I’m doing chapters, it’s way AU.
How do you feel about smut?
I love reading it. I somewhat write it in collaborations.
I panic and stop every other sentence when I attempt writing it alone.
How do you feel about crack?
It can be good.
What are your thoughts on non-con and dub-con?
Depends on the character and the situation.
Would you ever kill off a canon character?
I’ve killed Tony at least twice now.
Which is your favorite site to post fic?
AO3 for sure.
Talk about your current wips.
The Gifted is a fantasy AU in the X-Men Alternate Timeline Movies fandom
Promised Love is an arranged marriage fantasy AU in the MCU fandom
A Lie to Live is a fantasy AU in the MCU fandom
So Beautiful is a modern, no powers, college AU in the MCU fandom
Help Me is a sequel to Bite Me and it is a vampire au in the MCU fandom
Talk about a review that made your day.
This chapter made me feel feelings. My poor boys! :'( And well done with Erik's anger, lashing out and the aftermath. I understand you are upset, Erik, but that is not an acceptable way to treat a friend. And it's good that you realized that too.
===
This one especially. Also their previous two comments.
Do you ever get rude reviews and how do you deal with them?
Not really. Not since, like, high school.
That was a long while ago. I was still really into the LoTR movies.
Write an alternative ending to [insert fic title] (or just the summary of one)
Bite Me
Bucky tried to block Aldrich’s blows with his arms but the monster gave him a harsh stomp to the stomach. Bucky coughed as he rolled onto his side, tasting his own blood in his mouth.
“I truly did want more of a fight than this out of you. How pathetic.”
“T-think so?” He looked up to see Tony coming back.
Aldrich caught the stare and turned, grabbing onto the wooden stake made from the leg of a desk.
“Shit!” Tony struggled.
“Thank you, Anthony.” Aldrich yanked the stake from Tony’s hands and, finding Bucky on his feet, thrust it through the other vampire’s chest.
“No!” Tony cried, trying to get past Aldrich to reach the man he loved, but his Master gripped his shoulder and threw him back.
“You were perfect,” Aldrich growled, “but I will never have your heart, will I? Not as a mate.”
Tony blinked away tears that threatened to blur his vision. “Never.”
Leering at the vampire that held Tony’s affection, Aldrich shoved the stake deeper, Bucky’s cold, dark blood gushing out around it, and then pulled it free.
A grotesque, thick flow fell from the hole in Bucky’s chest.
“No, no, no!” Tony needed to reach him, but he froze once the already stained wood pierced him next.
“You can join him, Anthony,” Aldrich spoke so sweetly, giving it another push to be sure neither would leave.
Tony stared at him. His chest felt wet, cramped, cold. Fear shook his body.
His knees hit the floor. “B-Buck...y...?”
But no response came.
As Aldrich walked away, Tony found himself all alone in a place that reeked of blood and horror. His vision began to falter. He grew so tired... so very tired... so very... very... tired...

2. Funding
You can use your savings to invest in an IPO. But worry not if you don’t have sufficient funds in your account.
There are a few banks and non-banking finance companies that will lend you money at a certain interest rate. So, inquire about the interest rates before you take a loan.
3. Demat-cum-trading account
A Demat account is a prerequisite to apply for an IPO and is nothing but a facility to store your stocks and financial securities electronically and this account can be opened by submitting your PAN card, address, Aadhaar card, and identity proofs.

Introduction Ready-made-garment export is the lifeline of the Bangladesh economy. According to the last report Bangladesh has earned more than 83 percent of its export earnings from this sector (Nikkei Asian Review, 2018) where the total RMG export in the last fiscal year 2017-18 was US$33.93 billion (BGMEA, 2019). How much of this huge export is accounted for our own benefit? Is the textile and garment industry safe and sustainable for the local professionals? The industry has its own way to find solutions through different stakeholders- buyers, factory owners, governments, NGOs, buying offices, human right activists, local government, etc. Let us see the types of workforce we have in the garment industry, the evolution of the availability of skilled workforce, building capacity for the future workforce, expats working in Bangladesh, and our responsibility to leverage own hard work and intelligence to retain our hard-earned foreign currency in our own country. Workforce in Bangladesh garment industry If we divide the workforce in the garment industry then there are broadly four categories: Garment workers including supervisors, line-chiefs, QCs, helpers, etc. Sub-sector workers Support staffs, including clerks, peons, chefs, guards, etc. and Professionals- CEO, Executive Directors, GMs, Managers, Merchandisers, QA, and Inspectors, The latter workforce is the intelligence of our garment industry. They are the brains for the industry who really run the show by means of managing, operating, giving technical support, and marketing the factory products. There is a government concern about increasing the wages of workers, government employees etc. but this group is the most hard-working people in the country for them there is no wage board, no government intervention on illegal employment of foreign expats, no legal retirement benefits, no medical benefit, etc. Self-reliance in the technical and managerial workforce When the textile and garments industry started in the late ‘70s, it was the Japanese and Koreans who brought those orders and tried to find local partners to make the shipment. In the ’80s, quota benefit attracted investors from all around the world and they hired professionals from their own country as well as from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines. The ’90s was the era for mushrooming of knit composite factories because of comparatively lower initial investment cost and a handful of local textile engineers dared to run them. This industry showed us that we could run the factories with our own capabilities. After 2000, it is probably the golden decade for Bangladesh textile and garments industry amid negative speculations of post MFA era, when local professionals started to replace those foreign nationals in managerial positions, maintaining the export growth, graduates from local textile and fashion universities take up the communications quite strongly, worked out the chemical threats and child labor issues. Just when it looked like Bangladesh is all set to become next RMG sourcing hotspot by securing 2nd largest apparel exporter ‘Tazreen Fashions Fire’ and Rana Plaza Collapse’ brought a big question mark on country’s safe handling of the work environment. In the last 5 years, Bangladesh textile and garments industry has done well with Accord and Alliance for a rapid improvement in that area. Building capacity in the workforce Bangladesh has signed the MDG and SDG where it will give a mammoth growth in our economy by achieving those targets by 2030 (SDG, 2017). This target was set mainly based on our ability to achieve US$50 billion export target from RMG by 2021 (Textile Today, 2018). To maintain this growth, we need to increase our export quantity by increasing productivity or doing more value-added products or increasing the number of factories as well as a number of workers and professionals in textile and garments industry. Recently, the government has taken steps to enhance the quality of our professionals by arranging free training for them (Islam and Islam, 2018). We also need lots of vocational, TVET institutes for technical professionals, and make as much space in the industry for managerial professionals. It is obvious that the local professionals alone are capable of running the whole textile and apparel industry. It is a matter of sorrow that there are still many factories who hire foreign nationals in key positions. What is the number of expats? According to The Daily Star dated December 31, 2016, the number of foreign employees working in the RGM sector is about 200,000 (Two Lakhs). In the year 2014, they draw nearly US$5 billion as salary and allowances. From September 2009 to September 2019, a total of 7,030 work permits were issued. In 2014, The Board of Investment (BOI) issued 3,511 extensions and in 2013, it was 2,907. From this data, it is quite evident that most of the foreign nationals working in this country are under illegal contract and residing without valid documents violating the immigration rule of an independent country. New Age (2018) in one of their recent issues has claimed that more than 5 lakh foreign nationals are working in Bangladesh and the same amount as reported by The Daly Star in 2015 is draining the hard earned foreign currency out of the Country. The sectors include apparel, textile, buying house, telecommunication, information technology, poultry, and poultry feed sector. Bangladesh Garment Manufacturer Association (BGMEA) after enquired 5,000 of its member factories to submit a report of a number of foreign employees they have. Only 233 of those member factories replied out of those 5,000 factories. As a matter of fact, most of those expats do not have a legal work permit and this is the reason factories cannot report them to BGMEA. Foreigners and expats mainly come from India, Sri Lanka, China, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, and some European and African Countries as per security and immigration sources. Indian publication, Daily Industry (2018), in their report showed that Bangladesh has become 4th largest remittance source for India with US$10 billion in 2017. They also reported that about 1 million Indian workers working in Bangladesh, mostly, through illegal channels. As per Reserve Bank of India, this amount is deposited in different Indian banks with the declaration. The actual value through non-declaration could be even higher. Though Bangladeshi E-paper, Daily Sun (2018), has claimed it to be false news and further claimed that Bangladesh earns 35 times that of India earns from us. Such contradictory reports reflect our level of patriotism towards solving the drainage from remittance outflow. Threat from foreign professionals A Study carried out by Islam et. Al (2017) for Center of Excellence for Bangladesh Apparel Industry (CEBAI) revealed that expats have specialized skills in communication, negotiation, leadership, decision-making, and operational skill and are reported to be paid two to five times higher than the local professionals. Categorically, we cannot say that professionals working in our textile and RMG industry are facing tough competition from foreign nationals. It is because most of our local professionals are nowadays highly educated, experienced, and gained industry exposure to run by themselves. Then why are we nourishing such highly paid foreign nationals against our national interest? For decades, our textile and RMG factory owners believed that foreign experts are more skilled and there are a few still believe the same way. Firstly, it is not uncommon not to get the best result with some specific local professional but from here making a generalization would be a fallacy. Read More: Is the foreign expert more capable than locals? Secondly, it is also a part of some bad politics. There are lots of liaison offices working in Bangladesh. Many of those offices, mostly US-based, controlled by their regional office located in our neighboring country. In those offices, the decision-making employees are foreign national from a neighboring country. The factory people doing marketing is also from that country. Even many professionals and technicians of that factory are also from that foreign country. It is like making of a little cantonment or a gang of foreigners in those buying office and factories whereas the same responsibilities (may not be the purpose) can be served by local professionals at a low cost. The reason I mentioned purpose because social and cultural aspects should not be a bar in international business which is greatly driven by technical knowledge and most of the people nowadays understand the English language. The possibility of unethical trading as a team cannot be denied too. Lastly, many of the owners are accused of money laundering by using their highly paid foreign employees as a medium for transferring money to other countries. Most of these foreign professionals working in this textile and RMG industries do not have a valid work permit. Most of those come to Bangladesh in tourist visas and extend their visa by liaising with immigration officials. There are lots of talk about this but no action had been taken about this very simple legal matter. Bangladesh has been a target of terrorist attacks and it is not unlikely that there are foreign agents dwelling in Bangladesh in the guise of a garment expert. Most of the foreign offices employ Country Managers preferred to be non-Bangladeshi. The government must check their skill, experience and managerial capacity in order to give them work permit with a valid reason for working in Bangladesh. One of the reasons buyers need them is to screw prices, put penalties and recover claims. Whereas, in such position, a local national would perform much better at a reasonable price to get the right quality for on-time shipment. Understanding the local culture is very important for the Country Managers. If you talk to any of them working here for more than 10 years will speak very badly about our working condition, delivery, on the other hand, push us to be 10 cents cheaper than last season. This whole thing is not only relegating our good name in the international market but also the country is renounced from foreign currency. Most ridiculous thing is that you got to ask this question when, why and where we do need a foreign expert. It is not only the case that they are working as Country Managers or General Managers. They are working massively in woven mills and we should admit that we might still have some lacking in that area, especially in dyeing and finishing. But you will find them working in laboratories, R&D, warping, sizing, and looming, etc. areas too. Though Bangladesh is a forerunner in knit composite but yet you will find foreign professionals in knitting, dyeing, finishing and even in cutting, pattern making, sample making, quality control, fashion design, washing plants, accessories factories, fabric marketing, yarn marketing, etc. However, I must not admit that there are a few advantages of hiring foreign professionals. They work hard because they do not have any social works here. They do not leave the job in short notice. An office with foreign staffs gives customers the feeling of visiting in a multi-national corporation. And of course, individuals have their own personal charisma which makes them different from others. Recommendations It is very easy to leave some recommendations to improve the present scenario. Ironically, everybody understands the fact but do not take any actions about it. Firstly, we have the correct data. The Ministry of Labor and Employment does not have any data related to the actual number of foreign employees working in our country. According to various reports, it could be higher than a staggering 1 million foreign workers and from valid sources, it is half a million workers. We need the actual count in order to control it. Secondly, MNCs often assign expatriate to facilitate knowledge transfer and enhance foreign direct investment purpose. Here is this case, we need to check the capability of the foreign expats working here to teach our technicians, managers. In case, they are here only to learn we are making big accounting mistake by assuming them as FDI. Thirdly, according to the Income Tax Ordinance 1984, tax officials can impose a penalty on companies up to 50 percent of their total payable income tax, or BDT 5 lakh, and deny all other tax benefits as a fine for hiring unauthorized foreigners. It is now up to the integrity of the tax department to investigate those or they keep quiet of being allured with greater personal benefits. There are also a few other recommendations which are the key topic for today’s discussion. That is, how to make our textile and RMG industry safe and sustainable for Bangladeshi professionals. Many of our textile and garment owners complain about the poor knowledge and English literacy of our local professionals. It is very common that academic knowledge, experience, and English as communication will not be the same for everybody. In general, the expats working in our industry has on an average better English. This does not mean that there is no local professional who speaks better English than expats. Nowadays, there are young breeds from public and private universities educated in textile engineering, fashion design, business administration, physical science, applied arts, and many of them having a foreign degree from renowned universities. They could be a much better worker for now and for the future who can work for the company for the rest of his/ her life. There must be some professional institutes like there is for Doctors, Engineers, or even Lawyers where the professional institutes will be able to certify the employability, and also conduct technical and management workshop, a symposium to improve the skills and knowledge of local professionals. It is natural, in Bangladesh, to have good demand for technicians, managers, merchandisers, marketers, etc. However, we have complaints about them that they leave the job even with a small raise from other companies. One of the most popular theories on motivation was given by Frederick Herzberg (1959) which sets forth management theories for workers. He believed that workers are motivated anything other than money. Those are praise, responsibility, achievement, and advancement. Our industry owners are in fact lagging behind in their knowledge in management theories by believing in Taylor (1900) theory where money is the only motivator. Many of the factory owners are applying Herzberg theory in practices, and there are a lot of examples where the best performers in the industry are management hires young managers, gives them the responsibility, praise them while performing, rewards when achieves and promote them as advancement. In today’s world, everybody wants to have a young worker who is keen to learn. It is because of the change in technology, work processes, motivational factors, etc. As the phrase says, “unlearning is difficult than learning”, it is wise to recruit young staff who later is trained with various on the job training so as to capable of giving new knowledge for improving the work process. If we compare the compensation package between the expat and local professionals then there is a big difference. If the local professional is more qualified we still do not want to offer the same package that we offer to a foreign professional with more than US$10,000 as salary plus house rent US$2,000 plus airfare twice a year with family and profit bonus. How could we expect the same dedication from a local professional giving only a part of it and expecting he would sacrifice all his social and personal life? For real professional, they deliver results not his working hours like foreign professional work in Bangladesh. Next thing is that the factory owners must introduce pension and gratuity like other countries which are used as an effective tool against employee’s turnover. Richard Branson, one of today’s most illustrious and successful entrepreneur, quoted about employees, “Clients do not come first. Employees come first. You take care of your employees, they will take care of your clients”. References: BGMEA, 2019. “Total Export of Bangladesh”. Holsom Fic-Rec
Although I have my all-time favorite OMGCP fic bookmarked on my Ao3 page, I wanted to compile a master list of all of my favorite OMGCP Ao3 fic to have in one place on my tumblr. And since I’m that neurotic, I thought it might also be nice to break-up each ship as well:
Two Minutes for Holding | halfabreath One-Shot, 2k Ransom is a team physician and Holster is a referee. They first meet on the ice during a particularly physical Aces v. Falcs game.
not funny | applecrumbledore One-Shot, 9k This whole thing feels so weird, like they're betraying some clause of the homosocial bro code that says it's only for fun, you can't actually be gay, like they're letting someone down. But on the other hand, being with each other is the most natural thing they've ever done. Like a chemical reaction, or two halves of something whole, or one of those hand puzzles where the two pieces of metal are all twisted around each other, or the logical and satisfying conclusion of a really good book.
Score | emmagrant01 One-Shot, 12k Ransom and Holster like to score goals for each other, and they like to take care of each other. It was probably just a matter of time before those two things became entangled.
What I Wanted Was to Fall Asleep | halfabreath One-Shot, 5k The gods are real, which everyone knows, but when they’re not fighting among themselves they’re usually partying and humans have generally learned to accept their meddling without too much complaining. Ransom just never thought he’d actually know someone who’d been god-touched and he never, ever expected that it would be Holster. Alternatively: Holster becomes a tree.
Five Things Adam Birkholtz Learns in HDFS 332: Healthy Couple Relationships | EllyAvon Completed Multi-Chapter, 6k HDFS 332: Healthy Couple Relationships is just the night class Holster is taking with Lardo to fulfill one of his core requirements. He doesn't expect it to drastically change his life. OR: The Weirdest Healthy Relationships PSA Ever. OR: Wholesome Holsom
In a Different Frame | sunfair One-Shot, 4k Holster is determined to become somebody's boyfriend. Too bad he's kind of an idiot. He figures it out, though.
BFFWB | emmagrant01 One-Shot, 7k Ransom's schedule this semester leaves no time for a sex life. Holster has a solution for that. (Set fall 2014)
Seasonal Drinks | rhysiana Completed Multi-Chapter, 1k An AU in which Ransom and Holster never met in college. Thank goodness for the local coffee shop.
someone as good for me as you | astrolesbian One-Shot, 7k “So tell me,” Justin’s mother says, all business, “is your boy going to propose?” “What, Jack?” Justin says, and doesn’t really think much of it, because his mother eats up the details of Jack and Bitty and JackandBitty like Holster eats up rom-coms. His mother sighs, and he can practically hear her rolling her eyes. “No, baby, I meant Adam.”
what is the meaning of this? | kleinergruenerkaktus Multi-Part Series, 13k Ransom has a system, and it was working just fine before Holster came along.
There Were Fireflies | Schuyler One-Shot, 3k Holster has never been weird about shit like this before. They’ve been friends for, what? Almost a decade? And Holster has never said anything bad about guys who date other guys. Hell, they lived in a house with Jack and Bits. But Ransom goes on two dates with a guy and Holster goes ballistic.

It was just another definition for one of the short answers in the midterm exam: a fundamental change in the basic concepts of and experimental practices within a given scientific discipline. It was a benign factoid to be stored away, something to be revisited in a later essay: compare and contrast the views of Thomas Kuhn and Karl Popper on the scientific process. Make Saving Easy and Spending Hard
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This post is also featured on Gen Y Finance Guy.   A part of me has this weird conspiracy theory that we spend so much because we are subliminally trained to do so. This is evident with incentives like rebates, points, rewards, free “trials”, cash back and even free merchandise (which is not really free since we did spend in order to be eligible for it in the first place).   There are also so many ways or methods of spending which are so easy and right at our fingertips and thumbprints. We don’t even have to take out any real money or even credit cards. Merchants may have our payment information stored online or we may have payment information stored on our smartphone that we can just scan at so many places. By the way, the security around this is a whole other story, which I won’t get into here.   Therefore, if we can make saving easy and spending hard, it can help us achieve financial goals including a respectable retirement balance or an emergency savings cushion that allows us to sleep at night.
Make Saving Easy Using Automation
Automate Savings   Simple things can be done to automate your savings; all of these just follow a set it and forget it mentality:   Automate contributions to your retirement plan – whether you work for a company or are your own boss, you can contribute to your retirement plan at regular intervals. If your employer offers a matching contribution, be sure to contribute at least up to the amount of that match.   For example, let’s assume your employer matches 50% of your contribution up to 5% of your base pay. Let’s say your base pay is $50,000. This means that 5% of your base pay is $2,500 ($50,000 X 5%). So you should at least contribute an annual amount of $2,500 simply to obtain the employer match which is FREE money.   Automate Health Savings Account contributions – you can contribute to your health savings account every pay period. This is an account that allows you to contribute pre-tax dollars to a fund. Generally, participants receive a credit card that can be used to pay for copays, prescriptions and for other medical related expenses. You can set the amount you’d like to contribute and best of all; it lowers your taxable income!   Automate contributions to your brokerage account – you can set automatic deposits from your checking account into your brokerage account at intervals, such as monthly. Then you can invest in stocks and ETFs. It doesn’t have to be a big amount, but something to get the ball rolling – the snowball of investing. J   The key is consistency in your savings. Once consistency is established you’ll be in a better position to reevaluate and up your savings rate. Maintaining a high savings rate is crucial in establishing lasting wealth. Over time, saving becomes easy with the help and power of automation.   Using automation as a tool for saving has proven to work. From a study in Denmark, John Friedman of Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government indicates that you actually save more when you do not pay attention. He goes on to say that the implementation of passive saving policies like automation is significantly better than activities such as tax incentives to save.     Automate Investing   The brokerage account I’ve had for years, Scottrade, has a Flexible Reinvestment Plan tool. I just go into my account every so often and to make sure it is operating as intended (i.e., the securities of funds I want to reinvest in are designated at the proper percentages, what my flexible reinvestment balance has accumulated up to, when the next trade date is, and the transaction history to make sure dividends are transferring into this account as they should be).   Apart from Scottrade I also use Robinhood. This platform doesn’t have an automatic reinvesting tool, so I manually reinvest about once a quarter. But the benefit is trading is free on Robinhood, which is one of the reasons I signed up for an account over a year ago.   One of the key benefits of automating your investing is dollar-cost averaging. This is the art of consistently investing in the stock market so that the prices you buy at average out over time. And we all can agree that over time the stock market does provide positive returns.   And even if you started with dollar-cost averaging 5 years ago into Vanguard’s S&P 500 Index Fund (VOO), your investment would generate a return of almost 16%:
Tumblr media
Make Saving Easy Thru Reinvestment of Dividends
Dividends are one those great things that make saving super easy. Once you invest in stocks or funds that pay out dividends, you can just sit back and relax, a little bit that is.   As I mentioned earlier, some brokers have a feature which automatically reinvests dividends earned into securities you designate. If yours doesn’t, be like me and set a reminder on your calendar to check up, maybe quarterly, to reinvest your dividends.   As time goes by, dividends earned and reinvest will begin to accumulate and it may be a good idea to consider tax efficiency on dividend income.
Make Spending Hard By Using Only Cash
It may be hard going to the ATM on a regular basis and withdrawing cash. But I know people that do that and as a result, they are disciplined with their spending. Try it out and see if it works for you.   It may be good to start out with a small amount as it may make you cognizant of your routine spending. Ofcourse, the amount is different for everyone whether it’s $20 or $40 or $100 a week. Once you get in the habit of using only cash, you’ll actually become better at researching purchases to find the best deals and ignore bogus sales tactics.
Making Spending Hard By Preplanning Your Weekend or Leisure Time
Often times the weekend will come around and we have no idea what we want or need to do. We have no plans or preparation in place and that can be dangerous. As a result, you may not have meals prepared and will eat out more.  You may not have free activities scheduled so instead may drive to your local mall or shopping center and become a consumer looking to buy something just to fill in the time.   By preplanning your weekend, you’ll be able to deliberately put thought into activities and run the costs/benefits and advantages/disadvantages of those activities. This doesn’t mean you should deprive yourself. You’ve worked all week and may have to work on the weekend too. You deserve to indulge in something you or your family will enjoy. There are plenty of low cost or free activities to enjoy such as a picnic at a part, visit the museum. If you live near a metropolitan area, there are museums that cover so many topics (e.g., history, outer-space, and nature).   And if you need to buy groceries or run errands, try using a list. We’ve implemented this and it really helps on staying focused in the store(s), saving money and time. There have been many times in the past where we’ve either bought something simply because we were indulged at the grocery store and at the same time forgot to buy something we actually needed. This was the result of not using a list.     Have you implemented any of these saving or spending strategies? Which ones are the most and least effective for you?   _________________________________________________________________________
