It's me! The person who's just now literally responding to comments from last year's EGF. (I don't know, I can't explain myself. Reading nice things about my writing is my one true joy ™️, and also looking at them for too long burns my face off.)

N.E.Way, I realized that Friday was Groundhog Day and my Holsom timeloop fic is called Friday Prime, and the humor (and waiting on hold during 12+ calls to medical bureaucracy) took hold and I posted Chapter 1. Excited for it to be out in the world.

BUT! Don't take that to mean I won't be posting the first chapter of Simon's mums soon too, because I WILL. I even went through and removed my weird notations of things like <<whatever a barrister does for their first job>> and <<government place>>, so we're getting closer and closer by the day.

Anyway, here's seven sentences (oops) from Simon's mums, which I've tentatively titled finally (already, always). Simon POV

"The Easter bunny?" "I don't think magical creatures are particularly attracted to Christian holidays."  "So no Father Christmas, then?"  "Nope."  "Too bad."  "Simon," Penny says, "You have magic. The Normal myths about magical creatures are just trying to convince kids that magic exists, you know it exists, you can't be disappointed that Father Christmas doesn't exist when you've seen a dragon." 

And another also seven sentences from Friday Prime, aka Holsom Timeloop:

"So, is this like, a thing now?" Lardo asks. "SMH defensive pairs hooking up—Ollie and Wicks, you two…" she looks at Dex and Nursey, who've gravitated towards each other through the course of the exchange. Dex flushes bright red. "Oh, we aren't…" "We could be," Nursey says, as smooth as he's always pretended to be. "I mean, if you want. I'd be down."

cursed christmas movie au:

bitty puts off buying his plane tickets home for so long that they become too expensive (maybe-definitely avoiding going home and coming out to his parents). he plans on spending winter break at school, until he finds out a malfunction killed the heating in his dorms and it will only get fixed after the break.

he complains about it to his friend adam, and is caught off guard when adam makes him a different offer: drive up to buffalo and spend hanukkah with him and his family, and in return, pretend to be adam's boyfriend while he's there.

it's definitely the worst idea ever. adam is usually full of those. they haven't known each other for that long, and bitty is a pretty bad liar, and it could only go terribly wrong. but adam insists, and since bitty hates the cold - up to new york they go.

also spending the holidays at the birkholtz house are justin, adam's childhood best friend - who arrives solo but is rumored to be on the cusp of proposal to his anonymous girlfriend - and jack zimmermann, a canadian hockey player who lived with the birkholtzs when he and adam played junior hockey together.

it's a full house. between trying to believably play the role of adam's doting boyfriend, being helplessly captivated by zimmermann's awkward charm, and catching adam and justing looking at each other only when the other isn't looking, bitty is in for a much more exciting holiday than he planned for.

Happy Wednesday! I've been writing! Thanks to @forabeatofadrum @emeryhall @nightimedreamersworld @artsyunderstudy @stitchyqueer @rimeswithpurple for tagging me today!

I've mostly been writing Holsom Timeloop, which I'm hoping to start posting in the next 2-3 weeks. And I've also been writing Simon's two mums, which at some point down the line I will post some of. Maybe I should post the first chapter and motivate myself by way of feedback. What say you?

Anyway, some mums up here, some timeloop and tags below the cut.

Simon POV:

"I just… do you think your mums would like… talk to me? About it? Like, how they knew." "Yeah. Of course. Do you want me to call them?"  "Maybe call, uh, Natalie? I feel like your other mum is too badass to ever have done something as common as realise she liked girls."  I laugh, then take my cell phone out of my pocket and press mum's face on the screen.  It rings.  It's a little bit cold out here. Keris shivers, and I shuck my blazer and hand it over to her.  "Simon, love, what's wrong?" Nothing's ever wrong, but mum especially always answers my calls in a panic—as though I'm calling to ask if it makes sense for me to go off and fight ogres or goblins or numpties. Which, to be fair, I did do a couple of times last year.  I had to fight with them to let me stay at Watford after that. And after the dragon. But nothing really bad has happened since [[redacted]]. There's only been that one time Goblins tried to get over the wall, and the time the worsegers tried to get under the wall. Otherwise it's been just school.  Though, you know, magic school, so it's hard to complain.

Holsom timeloop AKA Friday Prime:

He is in the kitchen, hoodie slung over a chair, two hot cups of Stop & Shop swill and a lottery ticket in front of him on the table.  "That's yours," he says, gesturing towards the second cup. "Coffee's shit, but the ticket's a winner."  "Mega millions?" "You got it. Put that somewhere safe."
