I would say "Man, I really hope Part 3 won't reach novel length" and I don't think it will, but wow it is getting scarily close! Really considering dividing it into 2 parts of its own just so that it isn't so much all at once, even if it wasn't originally written with 2 parts in mind.

On another note, nearly done! Really hoping to post it before my birthday :]

Hey, anon! Sorry for being quiet here; it's been a crazy busy time irl between family and work.

I've been trying to work on The Second Law here and there, though. I have 5-ish pages so far. I did also pull out Lost in Space? (I have a lot of dropped stories that I should go back and update at some point a;sdljf)

And I remembered an old s7-AU dream I had where the Galaxy Garrison finds an injured, insane Lotor, and he ends up powering the IGF-Atlas mecha with Shiro against Sendak. So catch me just daydreaming about that scenario as I'm writing for work, lol.

Eddie has to admit that when Steve pitched this date to him he almost said no.

Biking through some off-road trail for forty five minutes to get to a pretty field and have a picnic under the stars? That sounds like hot and sweaty torture to him. And not the good kind.

But as he'd been about to say that to Steve, he'd made the mistake of looking at his face, and Steve seemed so excited. His eyes were practically twinkling as he told Eddie it's the best place to watch the sunset for miles, and that no one's ever there in the evening because it's so out of the way, and that it's far enough away that the stars are clear at night. How could Eddie say no after that?

So here he is.

Hot and sweaty, as predicted, even an hour after they've arrived at their destination.

But they're sat opposite each other on a picnic blanket, cross-legged with their knees touching they're so close. And Steve is smiling at him like he's the best thing he's ever seen. And the horizon is pink as the last of the sun goes down, casting a glow over them both. And Eddie swears he just saw a shooting star go past behind Steve.

If he was with anyone else, he'd wish on that star to never have to do that much exercise again. Or to not have to do the bike-ride back at least.

But he can't find it in himself to hate the idea of this date anymore, exercise be damned. He hates to admit it.. but he's enjoying himself. He always enjoys time with Steve- if he's there, smiling at him like this? Even if he has to exercise in the process, he'll be there.

So instead of his usual wish, he closes his eyes (and ignores Steve questioning what he's doing) and wishes that every date with Steve feels like this, no matter how long they've been dating or how mundane the activity.

When he opens his eyes, Steve is still looking at him, a subtle smile on his face.

sooo since the holiday fic and the possessive fic are done, I'm starting the alive shannon fic, and here's a bit of the beginning - we start with the accident which she obviously will miraculously survive, and here's where we diverge from canon lol

it's gonna be angsty at the beginning, with the accident itself, and then Eddie and Shannon divorcing and figuring out co-parenting, and Buck's place in all of this lol it'll be fun, I'm excited haha

also, here is a snippet I posted before, it's a rough draft of a scene before I officially started writing haha

And for the first time ever on a scene, he freezes, just for a moment. He can’t say or do anything, just looks into Shannon’s eyes, as she’s being checked out and then transported onto a backboard. He focuses on those eyes – that he used to stare lovingly into when they were just a pair of stupid teenagers in love – and on the fact that she’s still breathing, she’s talking, she’s- he hates being a medic sometimes, because he can’t even delude himself into thinking that she’s going to be fine.

“I’m riding with her.” he hears himself say as they put her into the ambulance. He can’t leave her, can’t let her out of his sight, because if something happens, if- if she doesn’t- if she doesn’t make it, he’ll make sure someone who loves her will be by her side. Even if he’s the one who has to watch her die.

He already knows that it’s not looking good, that there aren’t a lot of chances for her to survive this, and when Chim says that if they put the tube in, it might never come back out- He’s sure he’ll lose her, and he’s barely holding it together as it is when he hears “get in there and say goodbye to your wife.” 

How can he say goodbye to the woman he still loves, to his first love, to the mother of his child? He never got a chance to say goodbye the first time she left, but at least then he knew she was still out there somewhere. Now, this… this is permanent. How can he say goodbye knowing that he'll never get to talk to her again, look into those eyes, hear her laugh with their son… that Christopher will never get to see her again?

yeah tbh i did wish they were given room to work things out in their relationship in a relatively normal, non-catastrophic way. i mean, they obviously had their issues, mainly due to miscommunication, but i still stand by the fact that what truly ruined their lives were situations that were outside their control (simon getting cursed and the apocalypse happening). for all that they were/are obsessed with each other or whatever, we can't really ignore the fact that 'letting go' of one another means, on their case, moving on with their lives while knowing that their partner is suffering under a magical curse, like, right now, at this exact moment. i'd say it's a bit hard to just shrug that off, so it's no wonder that they were never able to 'get over' each other
