Marinette’s Bio!Dad = Bruce Wayne AU

okay so the premise is Marinette is like. 14? 15? MAYBE 16 but not quite. But basically Marinette defeats Hawkmoth, gets all the Miraculi, is officially the guardian, but Lila is still herself. Tom and Sabine of course, notice this, and ask Marinette if she’d like to go visit her bio!dad in gotham over the summer to get away from Paris and maybe relax a little bit. Have a change of scenery.

(OR you have the ingredibly sad au where Tom and Sabine are in some kind of accident and Marinette gets the horrible surprise of being shipped off to Gotham after the end of the year to Bruce who was vaguely aware of her? And then NOBODY’S happy but I kinda prefer the Marinette knew she had a different bio!dad but they hadn’t really talked but getting to know him AND getting away from such a toxic environment.)

Anyway.

Marinette goes to Gotham and is very, very sad, bc she has few friends and there’s lots of rumors about her at school and she’s just. Tired. She’s heard Gotham is, well, gothic, and pretty enough in its own way and she’s pretty excited to see it.

The Boys have been having a debate on if their newest sibling will be a little demon like Damian or a sweet little angel, they just don’t know. (I am very unfamiliar with most of the robins and their history, forgive me, i just want Sibling Shenanigans.) And then there’s Marinette who’s incredibly nervous about meeting her brothers, she has no idea what to do with so many siblings all of a sudden. She’s a super anxious bean about it.

Also Marinette knows who Alfred is? bc fuck you, there should have been more Marianne, so in this au, Alfred, Marianne, and Fu worked for the resistance during the French Occupation and kicked ass using the Miraculi (Alfred with the Peacock, Marianne with the Ladybug, and Fu with the Black Cat). So she meets him and is just super honoured to meet him? Bruce is confused but its nice to know Marinette has at least one person she’ll be reletively comfortable with. Alfred is thrown this baby is the Guardian and the Ladybug and while its nice to know his friends are doing well, there’s a lot to catch up on. Cue him having a lot and overdue talk with Fu on the phone where he and Marianne drag Fu for giving this responsibility to a fucking child. A CHILD FU. NO I DON’T CARE IF YOU WERE A CHILD TOO THAT DOESN’T MAKE IT OKAY! (How did the Peacock Miraculous get lost? Idk a fight with the Nazi’s probably, I can’t know everything right off the bat.)

Anyway, she gets there and is the sweet little angel she is and The Boys are just. Thrown. She’s so sweet. Little do they know, she could kill them all with her little finger. She also can feel there’s something off about Jason? Bc wtf he should be dead but he’s alive, Tikki, please, an explanation? The Boys are themselves and Marinette is pretty overwhelmed and tired and there’s the promise of sibling bonding over the summer.

Yadda yadda, Marinette volunteers at Arkham bc she can’t stand the thought of not at least trying to help, she’s a hero after all. And she’s used to villains who are also the victims and to everyone’s surprise she’s fine? A lot of the patients there like her a lot bc she doesn’t treat them like villains outright, tho she is like. Super cautious. Mamam didn’t raise no fool. The batfamily is screaming internally.

Also Alfred get the (now healed) Peacock miraculous and basically gets to hang out with his old friend. Also he Knows All and finds that this whole family is full of hero’s absolutely hilarious.

The Batfam also being under the impression that Marinette is some kind of meta, bc she’s like. ridiculously strong and lucky and so on and they don’t mention it but they like. Think they know what’s going on. Spoiler alert, they don’t.

There will eventually be a reveil with many jokes about “ladybirds” (seriously why wasn’t marinette called ladybird when that’s the european term for ladybugs i’ll never know but ANYWAY) and birds and bats and you get the idea.��

Also I want Marinette and Kagami to be friends so there’s an obligatory fencing competition where Kagami and Damien fight and there are many emotions from the girls. Also Kagami still has the dragon miraculous and threatens the whole Wayne family with murder should they hurt her in any way, shape, or form. Everyone’s a tiny bit scared. Marinette please. Why are your friends like this?

Actually, all of Marinette’s friends make an appearance. And by friends I mean, Kitty Section, Adrien, Kagami, and Chloe. Who got some actually fucking character development and is TRYING TO BE A GOOD PERSON. Also everyone’s wise to Lila’s lies so they’re aware she’s a piece of shit. They’ll fight for their friend. We stan one girl in this house.

Also there’s no like. ships? maybe vague hinting at ships but none outright bc the focus of this is really just family relations and having a good support system and how you shouldn’t have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. especially as a child. bc fuck you, they’re all children. babies. for fucks sake. Marinette’s good at what she does but LET HER REST.

(Also I haven’t seen the season finale so please, no spoilers. just. let me have this.)

Loving Spider

It was after school and Marinette Dupain-Cheng was frustrated after what had been going on for about a week. Lila had gone back to her lies and everyone was buying them again, it led to her having to sit at the back while Lila got HER seat next to Adrien.

Of course she had gotten over her old crush on Adrien, but still the seat meant a lot to her as her friendship with Adrien helped her become more confident. But now it seemed like him and the whole class was against her.

Well Chloe, she had been dethroned as the one on top of Marinette’s hate list. For how angry that Chloe had made her after all this time, it never made her so mad that she was in danger of being akumatized or turned the whole class against her!

“I know things are bad Marinette but they will get better, I promise, why don’t you give Peter a call? That is bound to cheer you up!” Tikki suggested popping her head out of Marinette’s bag. Marinette’s eyes opened when she remembered that she had yet to call her long distance boyfriend Peter Parker.

They had met during the Summer when she had her parents had went on vacation to Queens, New York. She had met Peter who was a gifted science geek. She had gotten to know eachother especially when by accident they each discovered the other’s secrets........

About one of them being like a spider and the other being like a ladybug.......

They agreed to keep eachother’s secrets (it was embarrassing to her that all her hard work that she had her identity exposed to someone else). Peter was in actuality New York’s costumed super powered crimefighter Spider-Man. They grew closer, Marinette even helped design his new suit with him to replace the homemade one he had been using before. They had by impulse kissed before they left. But they had been keeping in touch by email and phone calls.

Peter actually knew certain people who gave him someone to help him translate different languages. True as Spider-Man, he reminded her of Cat Noir but as Peter he was a loveable dork. Her parents and his Aunt May even remarked how similar they were. plus it was nice to have someone else to open up about having to keep secret being a superhero.

She got out her phone and started calling Peter’s number, she answered it and asked “Hey Peter, how was Stan’s funeral?” she decided that she didn’t want to let Peter know about her troubles and comfort him. The last email he had sent her told her that Stan, one of the neighbors of his apartment had passed away. he was a nice sweet old man who was filled with stories and advice for Peter when he came to him. The funeral would have taken place by now.

“It was hard to say goodbye to Stan but we had eachother for comfort....... Sorry had to move there....... Still we are able to move on but guess what, on social media my Spidey account was contacted by someone from Insomniac Games and they want to talk about making me into a Game!” Peter told her a bit somberly but grew excited at the last bit.

NYCWallCrawler was the social media account that Peter had set up for his Spider-Man identity. It was becoming quite popular in New York.

Marinette was weirded out by the pauses but said nothing about it, she happily told him “when it comes out you can be sure I will be first in line at my local game store! Sorry Peter, can you hold for a second.........” Marinette sounded apologetic at the end when she saw that Alya and Nino were coming over towards her.

“Marinette, we have been giving this some thought and seeing how lonely you have been and how this has been affecting you.....” Alya told her and Marinette grew a smile waiting for the apology....

“We forgive you.......” Nino finished and Marinette stood there opened mouthed hoping that she heard them wrong. “We know that you just made a big mistake and overreacted from your jealousy, and you don’t need to apologize girl..........” Alya told her with a smile reaching out her hand that Marinette angrily smacked away with her free hand to their shock.

“Good because I got nothing to apologize for! Some friends you all are, I thought I knew you all better than that to go along with this! Now if you excuse me, I have to get back to my call with someone far more worthy of my time and attention than false friends!” Marinette shouted to the shock of the two, the classmates who were nearby and Marinette herself.

She walked away and noticed to her horror that her hand with her phone was still near her shoulder. She then went back to her phone and heard a gasp making her groan realizing Peter heard her shout like that. She should have covered it....

“Wow Marinette, what did Chloe do to get you this riled up this time?” Peter asked with concern making Marinette sigh.

“No Peter, Chloe practically had nothing to do with it this time....” Marinette and she decided to explain everything to him.

“Sorry to hear about that Marinette, from what you have told me I thought your friends were a great bunch that I wanted to meet myself..........” Peter told her apologetically and Marinette gave a sad smile.

“Still I have a great feeling that you will have a big surprise when you get home......” Peter told her cryptically before hanging up. She blinked and put away her phone in confusion.

“Big surprise, what does he mean?” Marinette asked Tikki and Tikki just shrugged, Marinette jsut began walking home. She was ignoring any classmates who tried to walk up to her.

She got home to see a huge crowd in front of her family’s bakery; she saw Nadja Chamack trying to get closer and asked what was going on. “You won’t believe it Marinette. Tony Stark is in Paris for a meeting and he brought an intern with him. A boy about her age and they are in your family’s bakery right now!” Nadja told her excitedly and Marinette blinked in shock.

She then made her way through the crowd and entered through the door. She saw that at the counter was a smiling Tony Stark along with Peter’s Aunt May. She then saw looked to see Peter waving to her with a cheeky smile.

She then engulfed him in a hug, “Tony came to me and my Aunt May about us coming over here on a trip, I have been having to keep a secret from you for some time so I can see your look on surprise.” Peter told her apologetically but Marinette didn’t think much of it.

“Marinette, why don’t you and Peter have some time to yourself and play a game in the living room.” suggested Marinette’s father when Marinette let go of Peter. They went to the living room where Tom already had a games console set up.

They began getting to work playing some rounds of Ultimate Mecha Strike III, having fun. While playing they started talking about recent bad guys they fought and Peter was telling her about a She Ra cartoon he had been watching on Netflix. However her thoughts began drifting towards what had been happening to her recently.

“if you ask me III makes up for the disappointment that II was, the first game set up a high standard that they only managed to match with III...” Peter told Marinette only to see that she was growing a bit sad.

“Is this about the lying girl and the gullible classmates?” Peter asked in concern pausing the game to meet her in the eye.

“I still can’t believe I allow my emotion to get an Akuma after me and I had snapped at Alya and Nino in the middle of our call....” Marinette told him feeling a bit ashamed in herself. Tikki came out when she was sure there was no one else about and gave Marinette a hug on the neck.

“They were the ones who screwed up and everyone has their limits, even the most sweet Marinette.” Peter told her making her blush a bit. “Plus you said that you overreacted when you first saw her and her first lie, well that was another mistake and if they are still buying lies after that then it’s their fault for being gullible. I still have some citizens buying the whole ‘Spider-Man is a Menace’ thing that Jameson spews on about.” Peter continued and Marinette just sighed once more.

“Plus I am not entirely honest myself, it’s not to get attention but i have to hide being Ladybug....” Marinette muttered but Peter picked up her head to meet him in the eyes.

“I know all about that, at least you jsut have to hide Tikki. I have to hide my outfit and equipment. Last time I had to hand wash my suit, my excuse to Aunt May was that I was washing the American flag....” Peter told her causing Marinette to laugh.

“Let yourself cool down Marinette and if they decide to keep being idiots then that’s their fault. You are the amazing sweet girl I am proud to call my girlfriend, you are the one whose a gifted designer who won a contest by a famous designer and was chosen by a rock star to come up with his album cover.” Peter assured her and she smiled.

She then decided to put it out of her mind as she asked if they can continue playing the game. Peter then got an idea and grinned while asking if she would give her a minute. Marinette blinked in confusion but gave a nod.

Peter then got out his phone and went on his social media page and logged in as NYCWallCrawler. He then began typing away:

You want to know Spidey’s tailor? It was made for me by a visiting design student from Paris. Marinette Dupain-Cheng, she designed an album cover for Jagged Stone! She is going to be big one day!

He smirked as he posted it and went and unpaused the game after putting his phone away. Hopefully now more people will know how much better than Lila, Marinette is and hopefully she won’t try and kill him when she finds out.

*Spoilers* Oni-Chan

Why just why. I have so many issues with this so I’m doing it how anyone would. A full-length essay dissecting everything I can from the subtitles.

Be aware, I am not very pro-Love Square, and have a large number of problems with the shows writing/Adrien and his Nice Guy/Passive behaviour in general.

Essay/salt incoming, you have been warned. Read at your own peril.

For context, in previous episodes, Adrien has had little to no problem with Lila lying and has even gone out of his way so that she may continue lying. Kagami had about zero romantic interest in Adrien upon her first appearance in Riposte, which is, in my opinion, her truest representation. Marinette has been told to not be so jealous of Adrien multiple times, but the narrative has made it clear she has no control of her feelings when it comes to him. All of Adrien’s love interests (Chloe, Kagami, Lila, Marinette) generally all hate each other, are vindictive, cruel, petty and jealous. Adrien does literally nothing to stop them.

First of all, they expect us to believe that Kagami is in love with the limp noddle that is Adrien? Get out. Just get out. In Riposte, I believe she had about no interest in him. She came here to fence and by gods was she going to fence. But Nooooooooo, Adrien just had to have another love interest, and no girl can be without someone to make her complete. What utter bullshit. I am so mad right now.

Second, I’m glad that he’s finally taking a stand against Lila (though, still in a passive way. I’ll take what I can get). He’s cut her off, he’s yelled at her, scolded her. Now we just need him helping Mari taking her down, acknowledging his flaws, trying to improve himself, all while learning about boundaries and taking no for an answer. What a wonderful development of his character, Adrien salt is non-existent, the show is saved, the love square is trending. Oh wait, it is physically impossible for the writers to have Adrien improve because “he’s already perfect”. Ugh.

Third, what a shitty reason to get akumatised. (I love Kagami btw). I mean, yeah, she can be mad, but really, over a guy. A guy who has already stated he likes another girl. (Chat had a good point, Lila and Kagami should have had Adrien’s input on his feelings instead of a game of tag around the city, but honestly does Chat even think of LB’s feelings? Does anyone, ever? A post for another day). But really a better reason could have been Kagami learning of Lila’s lying and Adrien’s passive-fucking-ness and how poorly it has affected Marinette, who Kagami was open to building a friendship with in Riposte. She could have learned what happened and felt betrayed because Adrien was not who she thought he was, and she becomes akumatised to seek revenge for Marinette and to confront Adrien without him being pulled away by his schedule. Bam we have character development and Adrien getting called out on his flaws, plus Marinette has someone standing up for her. So much better immediately. (Sidenote: Kagami’s whole speech about Adrien sucked ass I can’t believe a word of it. Just more of Astruc pushing perfect sunshine boy upon us.)

Fourth, honestly fuck how Marinette behaved in the first half. I love my girl, she is awesome, but I am tired of her being so over the top and possessive of Adrien. Like, we get it, she likes him, but no girl - especially no girl who is as mature as the narrative is portraying her as - is going to stalk her crush and a girl all the way to his house. She has been told/told herself to stop being jealous in multiple episodes, but it’s undone by the next. Fuck that. Also, let her have some character outside of Adrien because honestly, I am sick and tired of him and how Marinette is made to act around him. So much of her development is around him and it’s not a good message for the age demographic this show is targeted at. It’s just terrible honestly.

Fifth, KAGAMI CUT DOWN A TREE AND IT WAS AWESOME. SHE’S SO STRONG, I LOVE HER. *Swoons*

Sixth, Lila had some good lies. Fucking finally. It was about time. I was worried she was incapable. And some back story on her? Wonderful, personally I can’t find an absent mother as a good excuse because the mother clearly loves her dearly but it’s nice, nonetheless. And Lila manipulating Oni-Chan? Great, just so glad that I can actually start seeing her as a threat to something other than the Love Square in canon. And that bit where Gabriel was clearly seeing her as a weapon/ally was like water in a desert, the plot is moving, hussah. God it was refreshing but we all know it won’t last. C’est la vie.

Seventh, loved the fireman thing. Him helping Mari and LB? Adorable. Hated the reason why he helped Marinette, but it was cute how he comforted her. (Honestly I kinda wanted him to tell Mari if this guy was bothering her so much maybe she should let him go. Idk I’m just so fucking tired man). He can be added to the Marinette protection squad I love how he’s all about the safety.

Eight, notice how Chat was whining about how no one fights over him. Are we really going there? Really. I just, Jesus. The boy is a model, famous, rich, and has girls and guys fawning over him as Adrien enough, which he clearly does not appreciate. Does he really want that as Chat, or does he just girls he can use to make Ladybug jealous, like dolls to be discarded when he is done? A question for another day.

Ninth, Tikki finally gives Marinette some good advice but it’s too late and I’m already cringing over the whole trash bin thing. I just—*sigh*

Tenth, Kagami’s costume? Hurts my eyes. The potential was there but it was wasted. I’m so sorry that Hawkbitch forced my girl to wear that. My poor sword lesbian.

Eleventh, Adrien continues to be a passive bitch, letting Lila sneak around him room, ignoring Plagg’s warnings, and only getting truly upset when Lila manipulated him into leaving LB. I’m mad about that too, because like, sure he thought she was hurt, but couldn’t he have just set her down on a rooftop somewhere safe instead of the whole hospital bit? Btw, I love fireman guy seeing through Lila’s shit. “This is what you get for now wearing kneepads”. He is so concerned for safety. My boy.

Twelfth, LB using Oni-Chan’s powers against her was beautiful. We stan a queen. So smart, so brave, I love her.

Thirteenth, they really made Kagami idolise that fucking rose Adrien gave her. The rose Adrien originally gave LB, the rose he gave her before asking her out on a terrible date. The terrible date where he invited another girl, payed more attention to said other girl, and then made it clear to Kagami that he was using her as a rebound and he was still not over the girl who rejected him. They are really trying to make us believe Kagami the Queen loves this guy? Really?

Fourteenth, the horn was hilarious. I wish she was stuck with it. Or at least LB video Lila lying and her horn growing. It was a beautiful thing.

Fifteen I don’t get the whole “Chat ignores the Bien-Joué from LB to help Kagami up is Bad and Terrible”. Like, I hate the implications and subtext behind it. And the way LB deflated over it. It was unnecessary and jsut there to stir up trouble. Just… fuck that.

Sixteenth, LB abandoning Lila to walk home was wonderful. I wish Mari was allowed to be like that outside of the mask and not get demonised for it.

Seventeenth, Alya asking Mari why she’s not “keeping an eye” on Adrien and Lila and Marinette saying she “trusts” Adrien with Lila is weird for me. Cause it’s like she was saying it like she was Adrien’s girlfriend and was trusting him not to cheat. It was like she was already laying claim to a guy that she can barely talk to. In fact, they didn’t talk at all in this ep. Mari and Juleka had more exchanges than her and Adrien. Pshh.

Eighteenth, Gabriel is a piece of shit. Not letting his son have friends. No wonder he’s like this. Plus making a deal with the bitch who feels so entitled to Adrien is a dick move. Fuck Gabriel and his candy cane tie.

Nineteenth, Lila manipulated Natalie. What the shit. I’m impressed. I’m loving this whole thing. I’m really excited for Lila working with Hawkbitch. It’s going to be either really good or bad as shit. I am worried for Adrien. Just because I don’t like how he’s being portrayed doesn’t mean he should suffer at the hands of Lila. Also her mirroring Gabriel’s want to shield his son is kinda creepy and possessive. Ew.

Twenty, Adrien: “Lila, you can count on me, unless you hurt the people I love”. Um, how about Marinette? I get you don’t love her romantically but what about your good friend??? Or do you just not care about her?? Throwback to Chameleon where Adrien decided keeping Lila from being akumatised mattered less than the truth and Marinette’s feelings. Yeah, he’s such a great role model and such a wise choice for a love interest.

As you can see from the evidence, this episode sucked. Kagami and Marinette deserve better (preferably each other) and not the limp blond pasta sucker that is Adrien Agreste. Very sorry if you’re feeling offended by this post, feel free to rant and complain about it and me.

I'm sorta confused why it seems so many people ship Gabrinette. Not only is it a no-no because of the child grooming thing you were talking about, but I don't see much going for it otherwise? I'm not trying to be rude I just don't get it, even if they were both adults they don't seem very compatible. What do you think?

Short answer: I don’t understand it either; I block it. I block and unfollow people who post it and honestly I haven’t seen any Gabbunette content in months. I highly suggest you do the same, nonny; it makes for a much better Tumblr experience.

Long Answer/A Mountain of Ship-Hate under the cut.

I don’t know, it’s especially skeevy when you consider Marinette hero-worships Gabriel and the degree of influence he has over her career/art. The thing they have going for them is “fashion” and a common theme I’ve noticed is Marinette “redeeming” Gabriel through love (as though it’s a girl’s job to suffer so a villain can be a better person). It’s quite a bit like Rey-Lo in that regard, where an assertive female character is relegated to sex-fuel for the conventionally attractive(???) male villain to consume and be transformed by. It’s the “Beauty and the Beast” shit stripped of any subtly and reduced to wish fulfillment by people who want to see their precious villainous favs redeemed.

Gabriel is also a rich White Man, and people see him as inherently worth redeeming while arguing that characters like Lila and Chloe (a child who’s biggest sin is that she’s selfish and bitchy) are irredeemable akuma causers/the real monsters behind the menace threatening Paris. People are quick to hop over the fact that Gabriel is willing to brainwash and kill (Timebreaker anyone?) to get his hands on something that doesn’t belong to him, and has been shown to be nothing but aloof, distant, and controlling to his own child.

This is excusable because he’s attractive(okay really? really, people? I know I’m new to this liking guys thing but come on.) and White to the point where people are so desperate to believe that he isn’t actually Hawkmoth (despite sharing facial features, voice actors, and an obsession with Adrien’s mother). I bet you money that no one would stan Gabe so hard if he wasn’t paler than raw bread dough and affluent. And I bet you money no one would ship him with the protagonist either.

Like people would rather ship Marinette with a man her father’s age (or older) than with Nino or Kim or any of her female classmates. Like until very recently, the Gabrinette and Ninette tags on Ao3 were dead even and there’s still so much more content shipping a teenager with a grown ass villain than there is shipping her with a kind, supportive POC her own goddamn age. They would rather see Marinette with someone who routinely neglects her friends than with a girl whose biggest crime is telling a white lie. They leap over the diverse cast of characters to pair the hero of the story with a shallow, cruel, and frankly unattractive white man to satisfy some kind of carnal desire. And the fact that so much of it’s NSFW makes my skin itch.

This is not an invitation to explain to me why I should buy into a ship that requires so much mental gymnastics to remove most of its toxicity. I don’t care if you use it to cope; I don’t care if you bend over backwards to erase the power imbalances inherent in the relationship. I don’t care if there’s good art or good stories because I want nothing to do with it. So if you stumble on this and feel compelled to try and explain to me why Marinette belongs with a fifty year old with delusions of supervilliany, please save yourself the time. As it is your right to interact with fiction in whatever way you want to, it is my right to voice my disgust with fandom trends that are quite frankly appalling to me.
