Hiya Erika 😁!! Ooo for the character ask game may I ask for 1, 6, 13, and 17 for…Yami and Finral please 🥰! (I hope it’s okay asking for two 🙈!)
It's very okay asking for two characters, Lyra! It just means that I'm gonna take a little more time to answer. Hope you don't mind that.
..........
Yami Sukehiro
1) Why do you like or dislike this character?
This is going to sound weird but I like Yami because he's like an older cousin who is told to take charge and watch over the others but 9/10 times he does his own shit since the younger kids can manage just fine and the last 1/10 times is when shit get real like a robber breaking in.
He's an older role model to his squad. But he doesn't act like an authority figure to them. He doesn't force them to follow any rules and lets them take care of themselves to become who they can/want to be. Yami's character is able to balance responsibility and freedom to the benefit of the other characters around him.
6) What's something you have in common with this character?
Is it a cop out if I say me being part Japanese is a commonality between me and Yami (since Hino is the Japan of BC)? Because I can't really think of anything else that he and I share.
13) What's an emoji, an emoticon and/or any symbol that reminds you of this character or you think the character would use a lot?
💀 Skull. No, I don’t think Yami is going to die (if it was about a character dying or being dead Morgen would have this emoji/j). And while I don’t think Yami would be a big emoji user, I get a kick out of imagining Yami typing “your days are numbered 💀” when someone pisses him off through text.
17) What's a ship for this character you don't hate but it's not your favorite that you're fine with?
Yami x Nacht. I've joked that they have the energy of ex-lovers and there is potential in that kind of dynamic. Seeing romantic potential in a platonic dynamic is nothing new and that’s something in Yami x Nacht which I can’t find fault with. It’s fine. People make good art for the ship. But I don’t seek out content for the ship (I see it on my dash because of who I follow and because of the fandom tag). And I don’t feel strongly enough about it to make content for it either.
.....
Finral Roulacase
1) Why do you like or dislike this character?
-I like that he's a coward without being an ass about it. If he was some kind of selfish coward that ran at the expense of others, I wouldn't like him nearly as much. -He is loving and forgiving towards Langris, someone who really needs it. I will never not like characters who forgive without hesitation. That stuff is my jam. -Awesome magic. Teleportation is always going to be cool. -He really is a pacifist through and through. His magic can't attack because he's just that kind to his core. -His pacifism doesn't equate to uselessness. He will still do what he can to support those around him who can fight because that's what needs to be done more often than not. -Literally just a cute guy. Looks and personality wise. I want to protect Finral. -In a real life situation, I would want to date someone like Finral. He's fun-loving but also realistic. He's giving but still fights for what he wants (at least post character development). Finral is troubled but not jaded.
6) What's something you have in common with this character?
I too would be chill with my siblings if they almost caused my death. I love my family very much (mostly because they’re genuinely nice people) and I don’t think I’d ever have the heart to hate them regardless of how they hurt me.
13) What's an emoji, an emoticon and/or any symbol that reminds you of this character or you think the character would use a lot?
💖 The sparkling heart emoji. Finral’s got a big heart and I giggle at the thought of shoujo romance sparkles around Finral when he tries to flirt (even when he fails). He’s just got a sparkly personality.
17) What's a ship for this character you don't hate but it's not your favorite that you're fine with?
Finral x Vanessa. It’s another case of romantic potential within a platonic relationship. And given how their stories parallel in some ways (both not displaying abilities that their abusive parents desire and running away from home), I understand why people would want to ship them together, for that paralleled lovers dynamic. I get it but I'm not too into it. I've stumbled upon content for it and some friends ship it but I'm not someone who would seek it out or create for it.

CONGRATS on finishing mgsv / the series! I saw you ponder some things and just want to give you a heads up that even if there's some stuff in the tapes, that's basically it!
kojima's final (famous?) player betrayal moment in V left us quite a tall pile of unanswered questions when he cruised away on that bike lol left konami. and given the postmodern approach of these games, I think it was intended.
WHY did john go along zero's plan and what led him have his idea of zanzibar? his decay to villainy? did this retcon cancel all the stuff with foxhound? WE'LL NEVER KNOW. we were totally deprived of seeing his POV. i truly wish i didn't care about this bitch but yeah. i'm ridiculously deep in bbkaz hell and the total lack of closure for them pains me every day!! :)
(also regarding kaz's eyes i think in early part of development he was meant to be blind. but in the final game there's many moments that kinda tell he's not, if you think about it. the effect on his eyes is also exactly the same that the skulls's tho which is. thinking emoji. hope you don't mind the long ass ask lol, it's been nice to see a new experience in the tag!)
of course i don't mind the long ask, thank you for sharing! ❤️ i've just been looking at some cutscenes i missed and the scrapped boss battle against eli, but it's good to know that there's no secret ending i need to unlock or something. it's a bit of a shame though because i thought there'd be at least a little dialogue between the main characters in present day about the reveal but i suppose there's more room for interpretation.
it's pretty heart-wrenching thinking about how big boss abandoned kaz to look after his phantom, especially with the implication of kaz being in love with him. kaz and his relationship to big boss is so compelling! i didn't expect to like him this much and i wish they made the implication more explicit while tying the loose ends of the tragedy.
i'd like to think that he spends at least a few years together with v (who i believe at least likes him back), but it's interesting to think about who v actually is and how much of him is big boss and how much of him is the medic. he's probably neither of these people now. i wonder how someone in kaz's position would think of him, whether deciding that the original can't be replaced or falling in love with the new person. i could go on for ages about this, so that's probably better explored in stuff like fan fiction. same with the weird love triangle between him and ocelot (which begs the question of the incentive on ocelot's part to help zero and split them up with a copy 🤔 jk... or is it 😳)
kaz's eyes really tripped me up because i swore that he was able to see things but maybe that's another reason to go back and replay the story. (i think there's room to say he could be visually impaired, but the skulls thing is interesting!)

CM I
Conor’s been a nuisance to me for as long as I could remember. It was stealing my bike when we were four, telling me santa didn’t exist as soon as he found out at six, blaming his shenanigans on me in school in all the classes we had together, and telling every guy I was interested in that I had herpes. The ones who knew Conor, dated me anyway, but Conor could have very well scared away the love of my life-I’d never know.
Ever since we graduated school and I went to college while he focussed on music, we’d seen each other less and the only bothering he did was tagging me in pointless memes. But every so often when I visited home and our gang met up, I would have to put up with him all over again.
“Come over here!” Jessie tugs me as soon as I get out of my uber. Our friends stand around the car parked in front of her house and they greet me while my face stays buried in Jessie’s shoulder
“Tell me it hasn’t been half a year since we saw each other,” Sam joins the hug and Mel says something about taking a picture of us. When they release me I grab Fran in a hug even though she hated them and notice Conor wasn’t around.
“Where’s Conor?” I ask.
“I thought you’d be glad not to see him,” Mel exchanges a glance with Fran but I don’t understand it.
“Just curious,” I say cautiously. “He’s never missed our mini-reunions.”
“He messaged the group, he’ll meet us at the club.” Jessie says. “Probably already attached himself to a girl there. Let’s go before he does anything stupid.”
“In that case, let’s take our time.” I say dryly with a hint of irritation and my friends just laugh.
We pile into the car and eventually find the street after driving in circles for fifteen minutes. “Could that little shite have picked anything more obscure?” Jessie sighs as she parks.
I hadn’t been to our last meet-up a few months ago due to exams and Conor had missed the meet before that so it’d been a little under a year since I saw Conor. The last time was on the weekend of my 20th birthday where he tried to shove a cupcake in my face. But there was a moment I can’t help but remember. As we were waiting for our separate ubers and he’d leaned into me drunkenly, saying something I’d never forget.
“I think I always loved you.”
“Y/N?” Mel snaps. I hadn’t realised the group was already to the door while I stood still on the sidewalk, remembering the way the words felt against my skin.
“Coming!” I hurry, my heels clacking again the pavement. I catch up to Mel and we walk in silence into the club.
“How’s work been?” I ask Mel, the silence becoming too much.
“Been keeping me busy,” she responds quickly. “I think they went that way.”
With that, she walks ahead of me to the bar where our friends are figuring out the drinks.
“Hey,” I pull Jessie aside after we order them. “Is it just me or is Mel acting weird?”
“Mel?” Jessie was the only person I felt comfortable asking since I knew she would always be objective. “She seems fine to me. Why?”
“I dunno,” I couldn’t put my finger on it. Mel was usually silly with me, teasing me that I was becoming a big nerd. But tonight she’d been serious, deliberately cut the conversation short as if she was mad at me. I would ask her if she was alright later, I decide.
“Ladies,” Sam approaches us, wrapping his arm around Jessie. They’d started dating the summer after graduation and it was no surprise to us. A relief actually, to see all the sexual tension built up between them for years disappear overnight. Quite literally.
“Let’s dance?” Jessie asks us but she’s mostly looking to Sam.
“I’ll just finish my drink first,” I smile-I didn’t feel like being a third wheel. Jessie makes me promise I would join in later and I watch them leave, now all alone. I spot Fran and Mel talking but it seems intense so I turn my back to the crowds and lean on the counter.
“Is it hot in here or is it just you?” I hear the familiar gravelly voice in my ear. My heart beats a little faster as my back straightens in anticipation of the stupid routine Conor and I had.
“You’re so full of shite you should probably find a toilet,” I say easily before turning to stare him straight in the eye. Except. He looked different.
I lose my smirk and my defence as I try to remember what I was going to say to him. He looks older; somehow in the last year he’d lost the boyish look and his features were sharpened by maturity...not that he had any....and with that thought, I remember who I was looking at.
“Still a complete arse, I see.” I look Conor up and down.
“A bigger snob than usual, I see.” Conor retorts but it lacks his usual snarkiness too. Almost as if seeing each other knocked us out of the ring we always fought in. I sip my drink as we find our footing still.
“How’s it going?” Conor asks.
“The usual-going to my snobby school and doing my snobby work.”
Conor chuckles. “Nice to know some things don’t change.”
I don’t answer that, thinking back to what he’d said that night. He was so drunk but apparently not drunk enough to forget because a few mornings after, as I was on the train back to school I’d received a text from him.
I was shitfaced the other night so whatever I said was just nonsense.
The text stung a little even though I never really considered being in love with Conor. His next text reminded me why I never considered it: It’s not like it could work out anyway. You’re too freaky.
Thanks, I’d sent back with an eye-roll emoji. And that had been that.
But it hadn’t been just that. The more I thought about it, the more I realised that deep down I enjoyed the banter. It had become familiar, more reliable than a lot of other things in my life. I’d never miss the juvenile pranks he played on me but our banter was our own little language. And it made me realise other things too, like how it might feel to not have that...like it would make a bigger hole in my heart than I initially thought.
“Have you been working out?” Conor asks beside me and I only barely make out the question over the noise.
“Wouldn’t you like to know,” I roll my eyes but secretly flattered that he’d noticed.
“No I’m being serious!” Conor says. “You look good!”
I turn my body to him and raise an eyebrow, assessing if he was going to tease me but he seemed genuine. “I’ve been rock climbing recently, and training for a marathon.”
Conor whistles. Well he looked like he was whistling but I don’t hear anything.
“You don’t look bad yourself,” I comment without letting on that I thought he looked really good. Like really really really really good.
“I’ve been making some changes,” he says casually. When I raise an eyebrow he continues, “I cut back on the alcohol but that’s cuz my label said I need to clean up my image and stop partying so much.” He laughs but it has an edge. “And I try to go to the gym but it’s...”
“A losing battle?” I laugh. “Remember that one summer we all made a pact to work on our ‘summer bodies’ but you went for a week and missed your alarm every week after that.”
“To be honest,” he says. “I never set an alarm after the first week.”
My mouth drops, “You piece of shite! You had us all convinced you were struggling!”
Conor laughs with his whole body and my breath catches with the way the room narrows down just to him. Coming out tonight was not good for my heart-I was only falling
“I can’t piss you off now that you’ve been working out-you could probably beat my arse.”
“Who said I couldn’t do it before I worked out?” I tease as I flex my arm. Conor’s eyes widen and he touches the muscle I’d proudly built over the last few months. His touch sends a zap to my nerves and I drop my arm back to its side.
“That’s like-proper muscle.”
“Yeah!” I’d lost the humour as my heart continued to race. It was just Conor. Just Conor.
“What are you two gossiping about?” Meg and Fran appear and she shouts to be heard. I balk-for a few minutes we were actually getting on.
“Was the world ending or were you two laughing with each other.” Fran reads my thoughts and I blush and glance at Conor who’s glancing at me too.
“I was just getting her comfortable for the trouble I have in store later,” Conor says without the usual sauciness. The girls seem to pick up on it because they glance at one another again. God, that was getting annoying.
“I think Conor’s finally growing a brain in that skull of his,” I joke.
“Is that where my brain’s supposed to be?” Conor bounces off my joke and my laugh’s cut short when I realise Meg is staring at us as if we’d grown another head.
“So Conor,” Meg says after we sip our drinks in silence. “It’s been a while since I saw your face. You haven’t sent me any vocal clips anymore of your music.”
“I’ve been working on lyrics actually...” I tune the conversation out, Meg’s comment making me uncomfortable. I don’t remember Meg being anything but snarky towards Conor yet he was sharing his music with her. And not me. Actually he’d never even talked about his music with me, I have to remind myself. Why was I getting jealous over a stupid comment?
“So Fran-you’re even more quiet tonight than usual.” I say.
“I had a long shift this morning.” She groans. “Kids can be brutal.”
“Aw,” I grab her arm. “Then your next drink’s on me!”
“I have a weird question,” Fran says once we get the drinks. She was never one for beating about the bush.
“Shoot,” I say.
“Do you have a thing for Conor?”
My drink nearly comes out of my nose as I choke. Fran hands me napkins as she pats my back and I begin laughing.
“Why would you think that?” I ask, paranoid that my small-big crush was obvious.
“You two are always going off on one another,” she shrugs. “Maybe that’s your way of flirting?”
“Oh my god,” I laugh. “When I flirt, I’m a lot less aggressive! At least I hope so.”
“So the little piece you were doing just now with him?” She raises an eyebrow.
“Uh-wh-no?” I stutter. Fran and I stare at each other before bursting into laughter.
“You are so bad at lying.” Fran shouts.
“Lying about what?” Jessie shows up with Sam trailing behind her.
“Hey! Weren’t you two dancing?” I ask, hoping to distract from the question.
“Yeah! You never showed!” Jessie says. “And I want a drink. Non-alcoholic don't worry.”
“I’ll give you the seat,” Fran slides off and says she was going.
“Not a word!” I shout out to her and she makes an X over her heart.
•••
“Shotgun!” I shout into the dark as our eyes adjust from the flashing lights to the night sky.
“Aw no!” Sam complains. “You know my legs don’t stretch in the back!”
“Should have thought of that before! Shotgun rules says it’s my seat.” I say, a little tipsy but mostly just happy having all my friends together again.
“I call a window!” Sam frowns.
“Where does Conor sit?” Meg asks. “There’s not enough seats.”
“I’ll sit in Y/N’s lap,” Conor wraps his arm around my shoulders and pulls me to him so I stumble in my heels.
“Get off!” I shove him away, the scrunchie in my hair sliding off. “Ugh.”
“You cut your hair?” Jessie asks as we get in.
“Yeah! Just last week. So many dead ends...” We continue the small talk as the gang piles in the back, Meg agreeing to sit on the floor as she was the smallest. I connect the car with bluetooth and put on a throwback playlist as we reminisce about the old times. Meg falls asleep and we all laugh, the boys taking snaps of her to make fun of. Just as I feel relaxed, the music goes fuzzy and a familiar voice sings through the speakers.
“Isn’t that-“
“Conor!” I twist in my seat and aim to hit his knee but I get Fran instead and while I apologize Conor begins singing out loud which earns groans from everyone.
“Stop hijacking the Bluetooth!” I say and turn my music back on but Conor puts his on again and I feel my frustration rise so I turn it off but Conor just finds a way to play his music again. I cross my arms and sigh, deciding to just ignore it while Jessie starts to hum to the music. Fran and Sam are having a discussion and I feel Conor playing with my hair from the back.
“Stop that!” I twist to see him again and he’s grinning. “Ugh, I hate you.”
“Only because you’re afraid of how much you’d love me,” Conor teases but the words hit too close to home so I flip him off again and turn back in my seat.
Fran and Sam get off first as they lived a few houses down from the other. Next, we drop Meg who took a few shakes and shouts to wake up. Conor says to drop him off at his brother’s and we do so but before he goes in he leans his elbows on my open window.
“You’re gonna get run over,” I say as a car whizzes by behind him.
“So are we doing anything later? This week or something?” Conor ignores my comment.
“Ah I don’t know.” Jessie says. “We can all hang out after work but Y/N’s home for the whole week before she disappears on us again.”
Conor doesn’t even look back at Jessie when he asks me, “Great, maybe I can show you some of my music then.”
I blush, thinking he’d noticed my earlier bitterness about Meg’s comment but his face is casual. “Sounds cool,” I nod and when he’s out of sight Jessie squeals.
“You two are so into each other.”

@that-anxious-blonde tagged me to answer all these questions, which took forever but was also a lot of fun :)
1. Do you prefer writing with a black pen or a blue pen? black
2. Would you prefer to live in the country or in the city? I grew up in the country, but I now live in the city in an apartment. I like it better personally.
3. If you could learn a new skill, what would it be? I started guitar lessons when I was younger, but I only know one song. I wish I could just become familiar enough to play it.
4. Do you drink your tea/coffee with sugar? I only drink iced tea and sometimes I make it with sugar.
5. What was your favourite book as a child? I loved the Nancy Drew series and The Boxcar Children.
6. Do you prefer baths or showers? showers
7. If you could be a mythical creature, which one would you be? I would like to be a mermaid. I love being in water and the ability to breathe underwater would be awesome.
8. Paper or electronic books? both - I love paper books. I like to put them on my shelf and feel them. However, there are times when the quickest way to access a book is purchasing it on an ebook.
9. What is your favourite item of clothing? t-shirts - I especially love graphic tees.
10. Do you like your name? Would you like to change it? I'm used to Candice now. I don't know anything I'd like to change it to.
11. Who is a mentor to you? I would say it more like a role model. That was my grandmother before she passed away. We worked together for several years, and she taught me a lot. I did most of my personal growth under her.
12. Would you like to be famous? If so, what for? I would love to be a best selling author tbh.
13. Are you a restless sleeper? For sure. I literally toss and turn ALL NIGHT. I wake up wrapped in my comforter with the sheet hanging off the bed.
14. Do you consider yourself to be a romantic person? I love the idea of romance, reading romantic books, watching romantic movies, and shipping. However, for myself, I'm not overly romantic. I don't really have feelings for anyone right now. I don't particularly like to date. Idk how to explain it.
15. Which element best represents you? Definitely the water element. Not just because I like being in water, but it is also the element associated with my zodiac. I'm pretty easygoing, intuitive, private and creative.
16. Who do you want to be closer to? There are some people in my past that I wish I was still close to but distance and time have made that hard.
17. Do you miss someone at the moment? Due to coronavirus I am working from home, and I miss my coworkers. They are like family.
18. Tell us about an early childhood memory. When I was probably 4 or 5, I got to ride on an elephant.
19. What is the strangest thing you have eaten? I had calamari once and then never again.
20. What are you most thankful for? My family. My mom and my sister are my one constant in life.
21. Do you like spicy food? Not really because I have a very sensitive stomach.
22. Have you ever met someone famous? Rick Riordan at a book reading.
23. Do you keep a diary or journal? I hadn't since I was a kid, but I started again during the pandemic. I wanted to remember everything that I was feeling and thinking as well as what was going on in the world.
24. Do you prefer to use pen or pencil? pen
25. What is your star sign? scorpio
26. Do you like your cereal crunchy or soggy? crunchy
27. What would you want your legacy to be? That I helped as many people as I could while on Earth.
28. Do you like reading? What was the last book you read? I love reading. It's my favorite thing to do. The book I finished a few hours ago was Dirty Charmer by Emma Chase.
29. How do you show someone you love them? Since I have a degree in psychology people trust me to listen and help them when they need it, so I just try to be there for them. I also like to craft and bake for people. I take care of others more than I do myself.
30. Do you like ice in your drinks? yes
31. What are you afraid of? Oof, I'm afraid of the dark, snakes, spiders, roaches, and rats. But mostly I'm just afraid of being afraid.
32. What is your favourite scent? I love watermelon lemonade and lavender.
33. Do you address older people by their name or surname? First name usually, but sometimes nicknames are last names so then I would use that.
34. If money was not a factor, how would you live your life? I would definitely go traveling. There are so many places I would love to go.
35. Do you prefer swimming in pools or the ocean? The pool. There aren't usually creatures in the pool then can sting and/or bite me. Let's just say I've had encounters with sharks and jellyfish.
36. What would you do if you found $50 on the ground? I would see if someone dropped it. If no one claims it, I'll keep it in my purse until I see someone in need of it.
37. Have you ever seen a shooting star? Did you make a wish? No, I don't think so.
38. What is one thing you would want to teach your children? How to be kind. How to treat other people with respect and acceptance.

40. What can you hear right now? The sound of my fan running.
41. Where do you feel the safest? In my apartment with my family.
 42. What is one thing you want to overcome/conquer? I want to overcome my anxiety and depression which hold me back from reaching for new things and interacting with other people.
43. If you could travel back to any era, what would it be? 19th Century England. When Jane Austen was writing.
44. What is your most used emoji? 💜
45. Describe yourself using one word. empathetic
46. What do you regret the most? I regret waiting so long to sever ties with my father. The longer I waited the more damage he did. I was concerned about hurting him even though he clearly didn't have those concerns about me.
47. Last movie you saw? Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
48. Last tv show you watched? New Girl
49. Invent a word and its meaning. That's going to take more mental energy than I have right now. Sorry to disappoint.
I am tagging @cantfightfatetoo @marthaskane @the-nerd-that-was-promised but only if you want to. It is time consuming.

pride month: ace fic recs!
i figure that i’m so happy to find asexual representation anywhere i can, i should put together a list of fanfics i’ve come across. warning that this is gonna be heavily marvel-skewed since that’s my biggest fandom at the moment. please take care to read all tags and warnings in the individual fics - there are some heavy topics in some of them. let me know if you enjoyed this list or have any other faves to share!
( ♥ ) indicates personal favorites of the bunch

MARVEL
https://archiveofourown.org/works/19264345 Evening Star by alifetime (gen) summary: Tony comes to terms with Peter’s sexuality. supportive dad™
https://archiveofourown.org/works/1575290 The Question by fadewords (tony/pepper) summary: Tony Stark is a fucking sex god, and proud of it. But there's something indefinably different about his approach to sex--there always has been, he's just never noticed it before--and now that he has, he can't quite put his finger on it. (Or: An asexual Tony Stark goes through life without knowledge of asexuality, and does just fine--until he actually learns about asexuality. Then shit hits the fan.) notes: some wonderful self-questioning and sex-positive ace tony
https://archiveofourown.org/works/14802476 i don't need anything (but you) by WritingThroughTheMess (tony/bucky) summary: Together, Bucky and Tony dismiss the need for bitten tongues and whispered apologies. There is no need for anything but them.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/17954036 ♥ take my hand, take my whole life too by FreyaS (tony/steve) summary: Tony stands in front of the mirror and nervously adjusts the cuffs of his bespoke suit. He fiddles with the cufflinks shaped like the atoms of the element he created (a present from Rhodey for his forty-something birthday) and tries to breathe in slowly and calm his nerves. This is his fifth and probably last date with Steve and he wants to commemorate the moment with his most polished look. The suit is his armor and it’ll carry him through to the bitter end.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/19129132 Flags by candycanedarcy (bucky/clint) summary: Bucky's been seein' a lot of rainbows around lately, and he's curious as to why. He doesn't know asking that question will give him the answer to a different question he didn't even know he had.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/924291 Walking like a man, hitting like a hammer by TardisIsTheOnlyWayToTravel (gen) summary: "Darcy was convinced it was going to become part of SHIELD’s oral history forever, like that time everyone on this one op was doused with sex pollen and the only one who didn’t screw someone senseless was then not-yet-deputy director Agent Hill, and Robards said it was because she was a frigid lesbian and Hill told him that the term was asexual and if he was going to be a bigoted asshole about it he could at least get her orientation right. And then Coulson made him go through the hardcore diversity and sexual harassment training as punishment, because everyone knew Hill and Coulson were bros." Maria Hill is honestly pretty happy with her life. notes: a good confident maria gen fic
https://archiveofourown.org/works/6544546 As You Are by WinterSky101 (tony/pepper/bruce) summary: Tony and Pepper are very sexual people. Bruce isn’t. When he gets invited into their relationship, he’s not entirely sure how that’s supposed to work.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/11102553 It's (Not That) Complicated by Reioka (tony/steve) summary: Steve is asexual. Tony's straight. They love each other anyway (even if other people don't understand it).
https://archiveofourown.org/works/11726187 Human Moment by usedupshiver (tony/bucky) summary: In the modern world, Bucky Barnes is something as rare as a full-blooded human. Sure, humanity used to think it was the ruling species, but now they are well aware that they share the world with angels and demons, elves and goblins, spirits and ghosts, and humans did what they have always done best – they adapted. For Bucky, that meant making a very comfortable living selling all the things only a human body can offer beings that aren't. Over the years he has nourished all sorts of creatures, and has never had an unsatisfied customer. Then Tony Stark shows up at his doorstep, and nothing seems to work out like it should.

So I was thinking about differences between how I play Loch depending on the way he’s treated and
Most everyone’s muses acknowledge Loch as an Admin. Which is awesome! It’s cool and fun because honestly I didn’t expect people to do that!!  So Loch wound up changing a bit from the original intent because most people acknowledge that he’s an Admin–from other members of Team Skull to most Guzmas I play with.
And then there’s @craniumaniac.
(That sounded terrible–I love them, but thinking about their Guzma and how we talked about Loch and Guzma’s relationship before I even started playing was what spurred my muse’s new fucking fire he’s ready to go tonight)
SO CRANIUMANIAC RIGHT?  Love’s @plumeriaxskull to distortion world and ultra space and wherever else and right back down to earth right? Awesome shit.  I love it, they love it, fuckin Loch loves it.
But also he’s. Jealous.
Not of those feelings, no, when Loch sees a Guzma in a ship he goes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and he’s ec-fucking-static.
But those feelings result in Guzma not acknowledging Loch as an Admin and pushing away his dedicated behaviors–or, at least, that was what was discussed.  May have changed.  Subject to change at all times.
He actually finds it annoying, even, that Loch’s so obsessed with serving him. He says it’s not his job to worry over him and try and take care of him.
He’s jealous of Plumeria because Guzma says that’s her job.
Loch has a need to feel, well, needed.  Approved of and accepted, especially, told what to do and what to think but above all if he doesn’t feel needed he’s kind of a mess.  (I actually want to explore this with @rocbites and @tender–age–in–plume at some point. Because Jacks used to be his responsibility in a sense.  And as Plumes helps him more and more he feels less and less like Jacks needs him around but that’s another plot for another day.)
The Loch you’ve been seeing is Admin Loch.  Admin Loch is a bit more confident in his behaviors because they’re supported by his coworkers, underlings, and superiors.  They tell him he’s an Admin. That he’s responsible for things and that his input and behaviors are valued. Not to say Craniumaniac doesn’t say this to him because as you may have noticed I don’t play with them much and holy hell i’d like that to change now that I figured out
Grunt Loch is a different character entirely.  Sort of.
Admin Loch is supported and told he’s got these strengths and that he’s needed.  He feels needed and wanted and valued. So he’s a bit more confident and calm–he feels set and comfortable in life. Grunt Loch feels less so.  He doesn’t have that same support and he doesn’t feel like he’s needed.  He’s happy to be tasked with things, but he’s a bit more erratic as he’s being forced to think for himself. And because Guzma doesn’t see him as an Admin, the grunts don’t see him as an Admin.  It’s kinda like how his profile was written out originally.  The grunts don’t see him as an Admin.  But he feels like he’s supposed to be above them–so he snaps at them and is more authoritative because Guzma told him it’s his job to look after them, not him.
You might think, what’s the difference there? Why isn’t Admin loch that way, then?
Admin loch is an Admin. An Admin’s job is to take care of the Grunts as well as other things. The Grunts respect Admin Loch as an Admin, and cooperate with him–and even when they don’t, he knows that Guzma supports his being over them as far as hierarchy goes, so he’s not as bothered by their behavior.  It’s his responsibility as an Admin to take care of the grunts.
Grunt Loch being told “take care of the grunts if they need help” is less being given a responsibility and more being given an order. He’s being told to perform the task–and he carries out Guzma’s orders with a great amount of seriousness.  He’s more aggressive to them because he feels the need to make sure they know he’s above them and they have to listen to him and he really doesn’t know any other way to show that than to be cruel to them. Not because Guzma’s cruel, but because everyone before him was.
Grunt Loch tends towards more aggressive and erratic and anxious–and towards Guzma, he’s more pathetic and prostrates himself even more, but can be defiant because he feels like he needs to be treated like a servant. He feels like he needs to be told what to think and if he’s behaving okay. He needs to feel needed and approved of, and he doesn’t know how to appease his superiors any other way than being aggressively dedicated and servile towards them.  If Guzma says “looking after me isn’t your job” he’ll even go as far as to say “yes!!! it is!!!!!”
He might even be masochistic–being scolded or punished for disagreeing would make him feel more like he’s in his place and knows where he stands, but if it never really comes it just makes him more frustrated and upset.
It’s like. Imagine you can’t swim. If you had some floaties, being put in the water wouldn’t be as scary. But if you’re shoved into the water and told to figure it out yourself then that’s terrifying.
Admin Loch’s got a sweet as pair of floaties.
Grunt Loch’s trying to grab onto the side of the pool and he can’t even do that.
(What’s all this have to do with being jealous of Plumeria?)
Taking care of Guzma is Plumeria’s job, says Craniumaniac. This might even be excusable if not for one other thing:
Loch’s either not an Admin due to extreme oversight or because Guzma can’t imagine someone else on Plumeria’s level, even if they’re capable, even if it’s just in name.
He adores her. He’s happy they love each other, too. He’s probably crushing a little bit on both of them. Maybe more than a little bit. He admires Plumeria endlessly–both as Guzma’s caretaker and the Team’s Big Sis. He serves her with the same passion and ferocity and wants to help her as well. But he can’t help but be jealous that she’s allowed to do all the things that he isn’t and that he feels he’s able to at least help with and that he’s accustomed to doing for superiors.
Admin Loch? Not that insecure. He’s allowed to do things. He checks on Guzma every two hours to see if he wants anything and that’s totally fine because it’s expected of him. If Guzma wants something he calls him and says “go get this” and Loch runs off to bring it back in 30 minutes or less or he’s allowed to knock his teeth out.
On top of that, Admin Loch often gets a concern of “why do you just sit here and wait for me? Don’t you do anything for yourself?”
Grunt Loch probably doesn’t get that concern. (Probably because he’s doubly stubborn about going anywhere anyway because he wants to be needed and not wander off from his work.  Plus that time Craniumaniac kinda told him that if he catches himself not working he should probably go back to working.)
So it hit me that I kinda have two separate muses for the same character in a broader sense because. Loch behaves differently depending on how he’s treated by the person he sees as his superior. And since most people acknowledge him as Admin I imagine it’s a situation where Loch is considered an Admin by the Guzma implied as well.
So i think my grunt Loch muse ran off somewhere because “Master told me to go away” or something and bitch he didn’t mean leave this plane of existence he meant get out of his fucking room.
So now that Grunt Loch has been retrieved I feel extra fucking inspired and full of muse and fuck it I’m gonna get some fucking tags done.  Hell, they aren’t even Grunt Loch tags(I mean I do owe Kaycee like three tags) but Admin Loch-muse I guess didn’t feel complete without Grunt Loch-muse around. He feels a bit better now, so I hope that'll help make things flow better

Say Goodnight
Series: JJBA Characters: Okuyasu Nijimura, Josuke Higashikata Pairing: Okuyasu Nijimura/Josuke Higashikata Tags: mental health issues, nightmares, modern AU, implied/referenced domestic violence Rating: T
AO3 link
one of my BFFs sent me the prompt “josuoku, keicho was a shitty brother but oku still cared about him, josuke helps him with his Feefees”, because he loves to kill me. which is why this isn’t long, but i liked it enough to post it on here. also gonna point out that this takes place in the current timeline, where theyre finally in college.
speaking of which! send me prompts on here or AO3! or fic trade requests, or ask me about cheers au in general, or just come talk to me! i love to die and be killed!
Having nightmares never a good time.
Okuyasu wasn’t sure how long he’d been in the bathroom. Typically after a bad dream, he would manage to take a walk around the block a time or two, chain-smoking until the tightness in his chest lessened and all of his muscles dully throbbed from being so tense. But when the panic attack was this paralyzing, this overwhelming, the only thing he could manage to do was lay down, ride it out, and try to remember how to breathe.
So, there he was, stripped down to boxer briefs, laying on the cold ass linoleum, trying to count the striations on the ceiling. It kept him present. Usually. It wasn’t working tonight. Not when he could still hear Keicho’s voice echoing in his ears, shrieking about his failures as a brother and human being; a voice that was akin to nails on a chalkboard and the deafening ringing of pipes being hit. Not when he still saw his charred burnt corpse laying there, mouth gaping open in an unnatural way.
Not when he remembered the feeling of hundreds of hot knives slicing down his face.
It took a tremendous amount of effort, but Okuyasu fumbled around for his discarded phone. He needed Josuke.
In the event that calling was impossible, they had come up with a code for ‘I need you’; the thumbs down emoji. It was to never be used for anything that wasn’t its intended purpose, which was to alert the other to go where the sender was and comfort them. It was especially never to be used while flirting (Josuke just preferred sending the eggplant emoji with a bunch of water droplet emojis, topped off with a skull and coffin emoji anyways).
Okuyasu started sending Josuke text after text. He was on his 27th when he mercifully got a response:
J✰☮♡: omw
He spared a glance at the time, and groaned when 3:23 am peered back at him. Both of them had class tomorrow, and he knew for a fact Josuke had to be up at 8 am to make it to his literature class. Okuyasu felt like a dickhead, but he knew Josuke would be pissed if he found out Oku just laid on his bathroom floor all night, unable to fucking breathe instead of calling him like he promised.
After what felt like an eternity, but in reality was only about 10 minutes, Okuyasu heard the front door open. Someone quietly padded up the stairs, turning down the hallway and towards his room, before coming back and gently knocking on the bathroom door.
“Babe?” Okuyasu could only respond with a strangled noise. His eyes were still glued to the ceiling when the door slowly swung open, “Oh, Oku…” was all Josuke said.
A harsh sob tore out of Okuyasu; he quickly clamped a hand over his mouth, ashamed at his sudden outburst. Josuke navigated the tiny bathroom carefully, as to not step on Okuyasu, before plopping down cross-legged beside him, pulling his head into his lap. Oku pressed his face into Josuke’s hands as he wiped away his tears and stroked his hair. They sat like that until Okuyasu was able to get control of his breathing. “Thank you,” he murmured, feeling exhausted.
“S’what I’m here for. Do you feel okay enough to sit up?”
“Yeah, can I get some help?”
With a little maneuvering, Josuke got him up off the floor, and sat him on the toilet. As his boyfriend busied himself running cold water on a washcloth, Oku got a good look at him. Josuke was wearing an old band shirt he pilfered from him, on top of faded grey joggers. His hair was in a messy bun; stray hairs held back an adorable purple headband dotted with gold stars that Okuyasu bought for him forever ago. He looked like he hadn’t gotten a wink of sleep; he was the most goddamned beautiful thing Okuyasu has ever seen.
Humming, Josuke pressed the cold washcloth to Oku’s face, “Hold this for me, I’m gonna go make you some tea.”
Okuyasu did what he was told, “I love you.”
“I love you too sunshine,” Josuke smooched the top of his noggin before walking out of the bathroom.
He came back a few minutes later, mug of tea in hand, “Come on, let’s go lay down.”
Okuyasu’s room was a nightmare; his blankets were strewn all over the floor, everything on his nightstand had been knocked into the floor from his panicked flailing upon waking, water all over the floor from a knocked over cup. He felt like crying again. Josuke placed his mug on the desk, ushering Oku into a chair. “I’ll get this picked up,” he snatched up blanket and the ever-faithful Mr. Whiskers from the floor and handed them to Oku, “Drink ya tea.”
If Tomoko knew her son was cleaning a bedroom without being told to, she would probably faint. Blanket wrapped around him, sipping his tea, Okuyasu started to feel a little better. He watched Josuke mutter cuss words under his breath as he wrestled with the covers, sopped up the water, and felt so goddamn lucky.
After everything got cleaned up, Okuyasu dropped down stomach-first onto the bed. He felt Josuke straddle him, then cool hands kneaded lotion onto his back. “You are one big knot, sunshine…” he could hear the frown in Josuke’s voice.
Oku loved back rubs, especially when they led to other kinds of rubbing. This particular one would lead to nothing sexy, which was more than fine, because he was tired and just wanted to feel Josuke’s touch. Nothing was more comforting than Josuke putting his hands on him. Between the tea, Josuke’s soft humming, and his hands on his back, Okuyasu felt himself relaxing, until sleep enveloped him.
“Sorry about last night.”
Okuyasu was still laying on his stomach, his head resting on Mr. Whiskers. Josuke sat beside him, in nothing but his underwear, eating a bowl of Cheerios. He hadn’t checked the time, but Oku figured it was about 10 am. Looked like neither of them was going to their classes.
“Dude, don’t apologize. I want you to call me when ya feel like that. Don’t care how late it is.”
“I gotta, we’re missing class because of this horseshit.”
“Sunshine,” Josuke placed his finished bowl on the nightstand, “I’d rather be here taking care of you, than learning about some dumbass Shakespeare shit.”
As it always did when Josuke used his pet name, Okuyasu went pink in the face. “Don’t deserve how good you are to me,” he responded.
“Yes you do, I don’t give a shit how many times I gotta say it until you believe it,” Josuke laid down, pulling Oku into his arms, smooching his face, “I’ll say it until you’re so goddamned sick of hearing it, you’ll have no choice but to accept it.”
They laid like that for a while, with Okuyasu’s head resting on his boyfriend’s chest. Josuke ran his fingers through his hair, “Do you wanna talk about it?”
Not really was what Oku thought. Instead he answered, “Same nightmare I always have. A dead Keicho just reminding how big of a piece of shit I am.”
“You’re not a piece of shit.”
Okuyasu didn’t have it in him to argue. He was just too exhausted. They sat in silence for a little bit before Oku managed to speak again, voice choked with tears, “I loved him, you know?”
“I know.”
“He was such a fucking asshole, but he was the only thing I had.”
“I know he was.” Josuke stopped running his fingers through Oku’s hair long enough to wipe his tears away.
“Every time he’d tell me how fucking worthless I was, or hit me, I’d hate him for it. But, then I’d remember all those times he was good to me, and it just made me feel sick.” Okuyasu paused to gulp down a shaky breath, “I know Keicho deserved what he got, and I know he was a super bastard, but there’s part of me that misses him. Or misses the good parts of him, I guess. There wasn’t any of that left in the end…”
Josuke kissed the top his head, “You didn’t deserve how he treated you—“
“I know.”
“He super didn’t deserve a little brother that still loved and forgave him despite all the fucked up shit he did.” Okuyasu could hear the underlying heat Josuke was trying to keep out of his voice. He was always thankful that Josuke did his best to not fly off the handle when they talked about Keicho. Josuke shifted down so he could look Oku in the eyes, “Okuyasu, I love you. You are a good person, you’re not worthless or an idiot. You deserve everything good in life.” After Josuke managed to kiss away all of his tears, he hopped up, “Let’s go get you some food, then shower because my hair is a tragedy.”
Okuyasu followed suit, “I guess I could go for some Honey Nut Cheerios.”
“They don’t call it Honey Nut Cheerios anymore,” Josuke bent over to pick up his shirt, “It’s just Honey Cheerios now.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, now you gotta add your own.”
It took him a few seconds to get it. When he did, Oku shoved him, “You fucker! Don’t talk about my cereal like that!”
Josuke cackled as he slid his shirt on, “Don’t worry baby, I got you covered—“
“EW!! STOP TALKING ABOUT JIZZING IN MY FOOD!!”
All he got was a sly grin, “Who said I was talking about food?”
Okuyasu started sputtering; Josuke gave him a chaste kiss on the cheek then an obnoxious wink before skittering downstairs. Struggling to pull his clothes on quickly, Okuyasu grumbled to himself, “We’ll just have to see about that…” before following his lovely, pesky boyfriend downstairs.
He really was a lucky guy.

Our Furniture Is Officially For Sale On Wayfair!
I’m not sure an emoji even exists to capture how THRILLED we are to announce that our furniture line is finally out! The one that represents me would probably be the salsa dancing woman, except she’d be wearing all black with a skull for a face because I’m 95% dead from the excitement. Also let’s add a taco in her hand because that’s always a good idea. Am I already talking about tacos? That got off track quickly. Anyway, I know a lot of you have been following along as this day has crept closer (thank you for that, btw!) so now you can officially shop the whole collection (over 30 pieces! way more than we could cram into this post!) at Wayfair.
Valet End Table | Mellow Sofa | Stenciled Coffee Table | Mellow Armchair
I’ll do my best to keep the cliches to a minimum, but designing furniture has been a dream of ours for years and it still feels like this isn’t real. There’s actual physical stuff that you can sit on, sleep on, eat at, and rub your face all over (is that just me?) and we’re just so happy with how everything turned out.
Keen Dining Chair | Trestle Dining Table
Both the finished look and the quality exceeded our expectations when we saw everything in person – and we LOVE how they mix and match together. I CANNOT WAIT for you guys to have it your houses.
Scalloped Sideboard | Spiffy Armchair
Like I’m actively preparing to have my brain explode when you start tagging me in your pictures.
Skirted Upholstered Dining Chair | Pedestal Table
So today we wanted to share some of the pieces (there are way more over on Wayfair) and show you some behind-the-scenes of how it all came together.
Wisp Chest | Marble End Table | Swoon Upholstered Bed
Speaking of which, here’s a peek at what it took to get that shot above. This is from the photoshoot we did back in August down in North Carolina and, if you follow us on Instagram, you saw us road trip down there with a car full of accessories to excitedly style each shot (you can view a recap of it all here).
All of the photos of the furniture “in situation” were photographed in a real person’s home that we rented for a week (she’s an interior designer, so she had THE BEST architecture to work with). Things were constantly getting moved around, the garage was filled with tables of accessories, and there was camera equipment everywhere you looked. These photos are of the living room, which became a makeshift bedroom more than once.
We had some of the samples from the photoshoot delivered to our house a few weeks ago – which fully completes the dream of designing things we’d love to live with in our own home! And let’s just say that moving in with them has taken our relationship to the next level. “Our” meaning me and the furniture. But hey, at least I let John third-wheel it in this armchair that basically acts as a chair-and-a-half when you take the side pillows off. Plus the performance fabric means I don’t have to fear the kids or the dogs smearing it up – or myself spilling tea on it – both literally or figuratively speaking (Atlanta Housewives, anyone? No? Bueller?).
Mellow Armchair
We’re working with a company based in High Point, North Carolina that also makes Universal Furniture, a name you’ve probably heard advertised on our podcast. That’s actually how we first got to know them, and about 18 months ago we started developing a line of furniture with them too. We traveled to their showroom a few times to gather inspiration and they came to our house to see our style firsthand. And together with their team of designers we started drafting up a whole slew of furniture ideas.
That sheet above is partially blurred because not everything survives the development process. Sometimes the design doesn’t work out the way you hope, it may not be feasible or cost-effective to produce, or the retailer just doesn’t pick it up. It’s certainly sad to let go of some things, but the good news is that we’re already working on more stuff and can hopefully revive and reimagine some of what didn’t make it into this first batch.
Stenciled 2-Drawer Chest
We’re also hoping to release alternate colors and fabric finishes of the bestsellers as time goes on. Like I’m DYING to do these x-back chairs in white, emerald green, light gray, and a natural wood finish (and in a counter-height stool version – AHHHH! Somebody stop me!).
X-Back Dining Chair | Drop Leaf Table
And how great would these white chairs be in a soft mint or pink color with a lightly bleached all-wood version of this table?
Keen Dining Chair | Chipper Dining Table
We snagged those navy chairs shown above from the photoshoot, along with this white pedestal table, and have used them to upgrade our kids’ crafting corner in our bonus room. There used to be a kid-height table with some cute little green chairs in that spot, but our tall kids were ready for a more regular-sized set-up. Added bonus: now we can sit with them without developing butt cramps from the old mini-chairs.
X-Back Dining Chairs | Pedestal Table
Overall, our goal was to make super versatile pieces (says the person who just used a dining table as a kids’ craft table) that are classic but still interesting. Like the dresser below that has a fun diamond pattern (inspired by my beloved diamond windows in the duplex) but comes in two goes-with-anything colors (white or gray).
Diamond Chest in White | Spiffy Armchair
Interesting details in easy-to-integrate colors make it so simple for these pieces to slip in seamlessly with your existing furniture. So you can upgrade that old dresser, coffee table, media cabinet, or dining table without having to redesign (or rebuy) your entire room. Or even just add this cute little side table next to your sofa for a soft hint of greeny-blue color and some bonus setting-things-down space.
Valet End Table in Blue | Mellow Sofa
In our bedroom, we swapped out my former dresser (the one with the stuck drawer that you saw on my closet video tour) for this 6-drawer one so I can finally have a fully functional piece. The vintage dresser that used to live here now happily resides in the guest room – where that sticking middle drawer bothers nobody – and I finally have six drawers that open and shut without a fight! Everyone wins!
Mellow Armchair | Wisp Dresser
We wanted things to feel like us, so we worked in lots of little nods or details – like the dentil molding along the Wisp Dresser above (just like the dentil molding along the roofline of our house). Several pieces have an inlay-inspired pattern (you know that makes me SO HAPPY), and the Noble Dresser below is based on the aforementioned vintage dresser that John’s dad handed down to us. It’s hard to find pieces with cool old details like fluted legs or tops that aren’t just rectangles (see how the top of the dresser below is so much more of an intricate shape?) so we LOVED working those in.
Noble Dresser
It was also important to us that everything was well constructed and durable. So all of the dresser drawers have dove-tailed joints and there are no paper-thin cardboard backs on anything (these pieces are SOLID – believe me we have carried them up and down the stairs – ha!). Plus all the sofas and armchairs are made with performance fabric – which isn’t chemically sprayed, but actually created from tightly woven durable fibers to better repel stains and wear. We also snuck in some fun bonus functions and features on some of the pieces too, like these:
Skirted Dining Chair | Noble Dresser | Debonair Dresser | Valet End Table
I’ve already said more than I need to because I’m probably just distracting you from actually looking at the furniture. There is SO MUCH MORE than what we’ve shown in this post, so feel free to head over to Wayfair to browse it all.
Dashing End Table | Mellow Chair
There are sofas, coffee tables, nightstands, dining tables, chairs, headboards, a bed, and even this mirror that’s earning all the extra credit in our bedroom for reflecting my capiz chandelier (it’s like I have two of them now ;)
Debonair Dresser in Grey | Stenciled Mirror
So this is me officially zipping my trap, getting out of your way, and spooning with my new chair boyfriend (John’s fine with it because he’s busy gushing about how smoothly the dresser drawers glide).
Mellow Armchair
Thanks so much to everyone who has been so excited and supportive about this whole new adventure for us! We are SO EXCITED to have these things out in the world!

Anyway, I know a lot of you have been following along as this day has crept closer (thank you for that, btw!) so now you can officially shop the whole collection (over 30 pieces! way more than we could cram into this post!) at Wayfair and Wayfair Canada.

Anyway, I know a lot of you have been following along as this day has crept closer (thank you for that, btw!) so now you can officially shop the whole collection (over 30 pieces! way more than we could cram into this post!) at Wayfair and Wayfair Canada.
Wisp Chest | Marble Accent Table | Swoon Upholstered Bed
Valet End Table | Mellow Sofa
Skirted Dining Chair | Noble Dresser | Debonair Dresser | Valet Side Table
I’ve already said more than I need to because I’m probably just distracting you from actually looking at the furniture. There is SO MUCH MORE than what we’ve shown in this post, so feel free to head over to Wayfair to browse it all.
Dashing End Table | Mellow Chair
There are sofas, coffee tables, nightstands, dining tables, chairs, headboards, a bed, and even this mirror that’s earning all the extra credit in our bedroom for reflecting my capiz chandelier (it’s like I have two of them now ;)
Debonair Dresser | Stenciled Mirror
So this is me officially zipping my trap, getting out of your way, and spooning with my new chair boyfriend (John’s fine with it because he’s busy gushing about how smoothly the dresser drawers glide).
Mellow Armchair
Thanks so much to everyone who has been so excited and supportive about this whole new adventure for us! We are SO EXCITED to have these things out in the world!
