The scenes towards the end of the finale were like an intersection of multiple characters experiencing the loss of father figures, in different shades:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luz's relationship to her late father took on a different form, after King's own father passed on and his glyph magic was gone for good. Manny gifting her the Azura books before his death, and Papa Titan offering her glyph magic before he too passed on, helped Luz find her place in the world and defeat Belos.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apparently this scene is what made Sarah Nicole-Robles bawl in the recording studio, right after she recorded the lines.
When these changes happen - when we experience the loss of a person, when our ties with them are wrangled into a new form, against our will - it can be devastatingly painful. Change and transformation make for fancy, dramatic scenes in fiction, and they always incur loss in some form, painful or not. It also made me so emotional when seeing how much 18-year-old Luz resembles Manny, and how her enrolment in the university is linked to both her biological father and Papa Titan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
King's experience of seeing the majesty of his father, however brief, left him in awe and exhilaration. He can rest in the beautiful knowledge that Papa Titan was watching over him the whole time too. The message that his dad left him, relayed by Luz, is something he'll hold dear forever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hunter will never be truly harmed by Belos ever again. But he can't discard the memories of Belos granting him attachment: even if the attachment ended up not being real in a sense. However, like what can be applied in real-life therapy, he can get guidance on how to rescript those memories.
Belos's lies about having good intentions don't change how it felt real to Hunter all those years ago. Hunter was a young child when receiving this 'love', and in a twisted way...the mission given to him by Belos kept him alive up till he could escape the Coven, because the mission gave his life meaning despite the circumstances being awfully terrible. A child cannot survive without attachment, and needs attachment even if the experience of attachment has been horrendous and scarring. And holy Titan don't get me started on how at age 16 (before the timeskip), he had yet to learn more grisly details about his predecessors - whom he might view as older brothers and fathers whom he never met - and the generational trauma in his Golden Guard family tree:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
which would have definitely been explored before he could experience that amazing hard-won serenity and peace at age 20.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even Philip's arc is inextricably tied to his manner of coping with how he murdered Caleb, who was the closest thing he had to a father, given how these two brothers were orphans. In the end, Philip meets his end while Luz gazes upon him the same way Caleb's ghost did. Philip won't be haunted by Caleb's ghost again, and he joins the person who was essentially his father figure in death. Till the very end, he was projecting onto another person because he didn't want to recognize the same traits in himself. He was the one responsible for his father figure's death.

But grief doesn't mean the relationships in question have ended altogether. It's kind of like what this post about the finale (link) says, and it even extends to the relationship between us fans and the show itself.
The cliché "5 Stages of Grief" is the most commonly mentioned grief model, but I follow the development and advocacy of a newer perspective on grief that challenges it. In fact, the 5 Stages was originally just intended for terminally ill patients, but it was taken out of proportion. I began a serious investigation into the newer models after I went through something that parallels Hunter losing Flapjack...eerily, it happened to me two weeks before TTT's release date. No wonder I feel so close to Hunter as a blorbo, I guess.
Unlike what the 5 Stages of Grief says, grief and linear time don't mix well. Without "stages" to follow, there isn't an expectation of some deadline or permanent end of a tunnel in the newer models. Such pressure wouldn't be honoring the sacredness of connections between us. Instead, less famous grief perspectives like the dual-process model and continuing bonds model, are a better fit to honor relationships that mattered, since they aren't given an expiry date.
I wonder how Luz would be feeling on the day she graduates from the Wild Magic University, and how King feels each time he unlocks his own new glyphs since he is the new Titan to supply the Isles with magic. And I wonder how Hunter felt when his coven sigil was replaced with the Flapjack tattoo, and how he feels when he sees the Gravesfield town seal and Wittebane statues.
There are ways in which they can get creative to integrate their grief (notice I didn't say "get rid of", "remove", "erase" or even "manage"...the pain is what is to be managed, not the grief itself) the best they can. In canon, we have examples such as the Hexsquad agreeing to get their Flapjack tattoos together. Luz letting go of the light glyph sheet here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
is also a fantastic representation of rituals like sending off a message in a bottle at a beach, tying a message to a balloon and letting it fly away (this happened in Reaching Out, didn't it?), or burning a message in a campfire to let it float up towards the sky in the form of embers.
It is a common recommendation to have exercises like letter-writing where the griever writes to the lost loved one. What many may not know is you can also do the reverse: you writing as your lost loved one, to yourself. Because the griever takes a piece of the lost loved one with them, that the griever has shaped within themselves. This is especially good if you need to extend forgiveness to yourself. An example from a book called Bearing the Unbearable:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The author felt responsible for the stillbirth of her child, but had a "happy accident" where she intuitively asked for forgiveness and then received it, by invoking the love that her child would have shown to her in a world where said child had remained alive.
I think Hunter in particular could benefit from something like this, writing to himself as the uncle whom he saw as genuine and nurturing, and gaining ownership of that part of him even though Belos was a liar and is now gone for good. It can help him move forward especially since he won't be spared from nightmares in which his loss is re-enacted. With this kind of rescripting, historical accuracy doesn't actually need to matter. After all, our own minds lie to us at times and mess with historical accuracy anyway, like Luz's thoughts telling her she was as bad as Belos, and how true that felt.
A physical loved one is lost to death, and it can feel just as painful - only in a different way - if people become estranged or separated without a literal death having occurred. But the connection to them isn't lost, it is only adapted. The bond continues. For better or worse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe the pain in grieving is connected to each moment when we remember all over again that the one we loved isn't coming back.
Tumblr media
It's like the needle of a gramophone getting stuck in the loop of an unpleasant-sounding record scratch noise. It's a bit like what C.S. Lewis says in his book A Grief Observed: "In each of my friends there is something that only some other friend can fully bring out." I can't find the other part but he later said something like, therefore if a friendship is lost, the part of you that only that friend could bring out, is also lost. Something in you is locked away forever, though new things can also be unlocked after the loss.
It wasn't shown onscreen but I wouldn't be surprised if it's regular for Luz to come across a meme and be freshly reminded of her dad's absence, because she can't show him that meme. King would be wishing that a new funny cat video he discovers is something his dad could also laugh at along with him. Hunter would be hoping that Flapjack, the previous Golden Guards and Caleb are watching as he brings back palismen.
Bereavement, and any grief that is significant enough to alter our personhood forever, are the forms of love that can never really grasp how time flows in a linear way. They can't be reasoned with, only experienced.
"...the howling at the center of grief is raw and real. It is love in its most wild form" - Megan Devine.

Transcript of those last few minutes of the lore dump because I need that shit written down. I've bracketed and bolded the ones that are the most lore important but wrote mostly everything.
-
Hetch: and we're back. Congratulations Ranboo, you made it to the end!
Ranboo: where... where am i? Hetch? You're alive? What's-
H: You completed your experiment!
R: What's going on?
[H: Of course I'm alive Ranboo, you see, I still have a role to play here. The Founder gave me a purpose many, many years ago. To repurpose this company and create these experiments... these, shows. In order to find who in your world is worthy of joining the cast and living on in the future shows forever!]
R: I don't wanna join, I don't want to go on the future shows please. I don't want to do... I don't want to do any of this, please just let me- you can just let me go right? I mean- what future shows-
H: I'm afraid that's not an option.
R: Wait so you've just been doing- you've just been behind all of this? What do you mean?
H: Oh yes. Every decision you made, every death you've caused, don't you see these consequences are your own actions?
R: No they- they weren't my actions! You controlled me! You controlled me!
H: I didn't do anything Ranboo, I just wrote a script. The real human emotions that come from breaking a reality. Don't you see that's where the real fun is?
R: I don't- please just let me go, I won't say anything, I'll leave and then it'll- it'll be okay. I'll just leave, I mean- it's just... so is it all just fake? is it not- what's, what's going on I mean
[H: Oh it's very very real. Look, in the past I would just make my own decision on whether or not a character was worthy of joining the cast-]
R: I don't want to join the cast. Please, I don't want to keep doing this.
[H: But, since this is the first time we actually have a live audience we might as well let them pick! What do you think audience? Should we let him live in these shows for an eternity? Or end this one with a BANG?]
R: (After a bit of screaming about being let go) So, so what happens?
[H: Well, if they decide to let you live, you'll be... rescripted, repurposed, and uh, recast. In my experiments. Forever.]
R: I don't... wanna do...
H: As for the latter, we get an entertaining ending, both to the show, and to you!
R: So wait... then I... so I die? I mean *mumbling* You can, you can change this right? You don't have to do this! I mean, someone- someone will FIND YOU! SOMEONE WILL GET YOU FOR THIS!
[H: Look Ranboo, you can die now, or you can die when you've outlived your usefulness. Which could be tomorrow... or a thousand years from now. It all depends on how long you can fulfill your role!]
R: I don't want to be... I don't want to be in this anymore, please.
H: Well, you won't have to be-
R: You can let me go, right?
H: -if they pick the Die option for you, I guess.
R: What? The die...
H: Yes, as I said, you either join the cast and live on in the show forever... orrrr we end the show with a bang. Do you remember Ranboo? All the decisions that got you here?
R: They weren't- they weren't mine! They weren't mine!
H: Oh but they were-
R: No they weren't, you did this!
H: -you see, we only pushed you a little in the right direction, every time the show 'broke' and you saw what's really happening behind the scenes- that was the real you Ranboo! Your decisions, your choices! That led other people-
R: Just let me go-
H: -to die for you! That's the Hero in you Ranboo!
R: I don't want to play anymore... I don't want to be... I don't want to keep doing this
H: You'll play as long as they wish you to play Ranboo.
R: Don't... I don't...
H: They can't get enough of you, and looking at the poll it seems they want to play with you forever.
R: Wha... what? No, please, just let me go! I don't care! I don't want to keep being responsible for this...
H: Time's almost up! About a minute left. Any last words you might want to say to the audience to swing them one direction or another?
R: LET ME DIE! PLEASE! JUST LET ME DIE! I DON'T WANT TO KEEP DOING THIS! I DON'T WANT TO KEEP DOING THIS!
H: Strong words from our Hero.
R: JUST LET ME DIE!!! PLEASE!
H: He'd rather quit, than keep going
R: I don't want to keep going...
H: keep entertaining you, the masses. What do we think about that, audience? Has he earned his rest? Or do we want to see him play again?
R: Just let me die... I can't live with this. I saw everything, I saw everything. Just let me-
H: And you'll see so much more.
R: No, no, please JUST LET ME DIE!
H: Ah, well it seems the audience has made their decision Ranboo, are you ready to hear it?
R: Please I... I don't know...
H: The audience has voted... for you... to die!
R: Wha.. wha--

actium update sunday
yeah it's been a hot minute since I did this!! Actium has currently released 112 pages (not including covers and other illustrations), which mostly shows poor pacing and a lack of experience on my end lol, but is also an accomplishment! i am almost done with chap 3, i just have one more update to release for that... which is unfortunately in the sketching phase still. whoops.
speaking of massive page counts being a symptom of poor planning lol, i am currently rewriting a lot of the future chapters i have planned, with special attention to chap 4. chap 4 introduces the main conflict that every character going forward will be competing for, and so i need to make sure it's solid, that i have no possible questions or vagueness about it. other than that, i'm rescripting a lot of things, cutting down on page counts and learning to use my panels more effectively. this is something that i will continue to get better and better at the more i do it, so i'm okay with the fact that it will probably change in the future as well.
to be completely honest, i was really throwing myself into a wall trying to rewrite, just getting stuck because i was so attached to certain sequences and ideas. i've finally gotten over that, and a part of that was changing the way i thought about actium's story structure! actium was always going to have three acts, but my problem was that i was looking at them as three acts of one "book," so to speak, and thus the structure wasn't really working. actium is big, it has a lot of ground to cover (a lot that i should cut probably lol), and thus the 3 act structure was leaving me treading water in some places... so i just changed it from 3 "acts" to three "books"! Thinking of actium as a trilogy honestly helped me slot a lot of my puzzle pieces into place? no idea why, but it's given me a clearer idea of that i want to accomplish going forward. it will all be released under one account and such, i'm not splitting it up other than mentally.
actium was always going to be an amateur passion project, something i love and embrace. it will show my flaws as a writer and artist (to an almost unbearable degree lol), but the only way for me to ever do or get better at anything is to dive in head first. I've learned a lot already from these 112 pages, and I know that it will just continue to get better and better as I go on. but, of course, making sure that my foundation is solid and fixing up my outline now will really help with that.
in terms of uploading, it will happen when it happens lol. im job hunting for a second job unfortunately rn, so my time will just be what it is. i might start uploading just the lined uncolored pages on patreon when i finish them, or i'll just put all my pages on patreon until i have enough of a chapter's backlog to start releasing them publicly. in terms of the website, it is still down, i just need to dedicate the time to rebuilding it off of wix, and i've been more focused on creating the actual pages to learn neocities or wherever i'm gonna host it. it's all very messy lol
as always tysm to everyone who reads it!! you all mean the world to me <3 i 'm spending the entirety of my day today (fingers crossed) on writing and editing, so I hope to have this phase wrapped up soon!

The more I think about it, the more I realize how much there is to question about the genloss finale
Here's my theory
Tumblr media
So someone tagged this on a post I made about Ranboo bowing at the end (this post)
Tumblr media
and it made me think—"well hang on, supposedly Ranboo had broken free of Showfall Media’s control?" Except he didn’t! Because Hetch (hedge??? Hatchet?? I’m sorry I didn’t catch the name) wasn’t actually a good guy! Or on the other hand, maybe he was at first, but then Showfall put him under their control, but I highly doubt that one, given his presence in the mall and all his cryptic nonsense. He was super sketch from the beginning, I don’t even need to explain how, y'all know.
So then that begs the question: what’s going on with Ranboo? The mask is still on, the wires and the Showfall media bit in the back are still connected (and Hetch convinced them not to take it off and admitted he had some sort of control over it) but they more or less seem to be acting of free will? But at the same time, there were those moments that didn’t quite make sense; primarily, as I mentioned in the post before, Ranboo bowing at the end, but also when his whole demeanor shifted and he stabbed the guy. Finally, even after spending the entire episode angsting about his friends dying and not being able to save them, he simply stood and watched Charlie get mauled by the security beast—not even reacting. I suspect that since Showfall has no qualms about killing people in the first place, the entire premise of the gore filter and Ranboo discovering the truth was planned, the entire thing is an entertainment show (like irl). I think for the sake of it, they turned off his mask, or it did get damaged when The Puzzler shocked him, so plenty of the third episode is his own actions, but I think Showfall is still in control. I’m honestly not sure if Ranboo listening to the viewers or putting in his own code to the computer was part of that script, but I doubt it would have mattered.
Here’s the specifics:
I think Showfall Media is having trouble controlling their people. I won't speculate whether Showfall is aliens, demons or whatever, but we know that it's not human and specifically that it's still having trouble imitating human life. (Dear gods, isn't that creepy? I funcking love it).
As we've seen, the Filter is breaking more and more throughout the episodes. In the very beginning, Ranboo wakes up in the cabin and the mask isn't on. They don't know where they are, they're distressed, and they try to take the mask off. It isn't until the jar breaks and Ranboo is investigating the ashes that it turns on. I've been incredibly puzzled with why Showfall would turn the mask on then and why Ranboo would have such an upset reaction to it, but after seeing the finale, I think that Showfall was afraid Ranboo would remember something and realize what was going on too soon. Since they can supposedly reanimate people, "rewire, rescript" them and we saw with the tapes at the end (and I think Ranboo said) that there are prequels to the Social Experiments, I bet the ashes belong to someone who died in the episode right before. Then, when the mask turned on, Ranboo remembered the feeling of them getting in his head and panicked. Unfortunately, it was too late.
Right after that, they became the perfect scripted character. The next part that I want to mention, I thought was strange even before the second or third episode came out. It's when Charlie says "Uh oh! I think our contestant is running out of slime! I mean slime- I mean slime-". It reminded me of a skipping record and you can see his smile falling and getting slightly more distressed the more he says it. Because this is where Charlie is supposedly talking to the cameras, I think that lead him to start to remember/realize the truth, but the Filter kept him from saying it, and since this is the very beginning of a new show, the characters have just been "rewired" so their brains are as under Showfall's control as they can be. After that episode, there were no more shots of anyone talking to the cameras.
In the transition to the next episode and when Ranboo wakes up in the chair, the mask is still glowing. It flickers a little bit, but ultimately stays on, and being freaked out when you wake up tied to a chair in a warehouse is a completely normal reaction. I think it was when the Puzzler shocked him though, that the mask started to actually glitch and break. Specifically, the Puzzler insisted on zapping Ranboo anyway, with enough power to knock them out for a minute, and we saw the mask light flash and turn off, and Ranboo said his brain felt a little fried and foggy. Afterward, Puzzler insisted that he didn't mean to do that much, honest.
The Puzzler was a human, just like everyone else in the cast. Whenever he had his mask, however, he was holding it up and away from his face, which I thought was strange, why do that? Of course, the Puzzler is just a strange guy, but he was surprisingly helpful along the way; his puzzles didn't have any real consequences that people didn't almost directly walk into and he even let Sneeg go when he said he needed go to the bathroom. That could of course be chalked up to comedy, or Showfall not understanding humans, but Showfall is smarter than to let them go simply because someone said to. (I won't get into all the little things the Puzzler did and said, or all the glitches/inconsistencies, this will be long enough as is, but oooh there's so much to dissect). I think the Puzzler was Aware and trying to help Ranboo, while staying under cover so he wouldn't get found out. At the end, he even says "I've been doing this for over thirty years, this group is by far the most unbelievable--you fucked up the whole thing!" Because he's aware and he made it so easy for them!
Before you come at me saying "oh but Angel, everyone DIED" LISTEN--the Puzzler gave them very obvious and plain notes saying "DON'T PRESS THIS BUTTON" and "NOT HERE" with arrows pointing to the right stuff. Sure he was supposed to be the Puzzler, so it would be reasonable to assume they were tricks, but everything he'd shown up until that point was just as much of a flop as if they were legit (which they were). Meanwhile, Squiggles is in the corner saying "ooh a button you should press it" and other such stuff. As for Nikki, yeah that one sucked. As the Puzzler said though, he wasn't expecting her to come in there and said he felt bad. After seeing what happened to Sneeg, I bet he was afraid the Showfall goons were coming for him and got spooked and shot too soon. Why would he have been hiding anyway? Furthermore, he released everyone on the carousel sooner or later even though they were supposed to die.
When the Puzzler blows up at the end, he didn't get revived. Showfall revived Charlie at least three times, Sneeg like- twice, and if they can do that so easily, then it's no wonder that they're so chill about killing off their characters. So why didn't the Puzzler come back? When Ranboo and Charlie found his little memorial thing, they were sorry for him, they didn't view him as a Showfall puppet even though he was one of the game masters. More importantly though, is that on Puzzler's memorial is a giant sign that said "TERMINATED". Terminated is intentional, Showfall Media killed the Puzzler, because they realized he wasn't under their control.
I think they also killed Sneeg permanently too. He was more aware than anyone else right before he ran, I think, which is why he ran and struggled so much. He also kept coming back to awareness multiple times, such as when the Puzzler put the hat on his head, backward and covered in gore. Running away during a livestream forced Showfall to restrain and mask him again on screen, so they couldn't have that happening again, then Sneeg interfered with the final puzzle. He seemed very mind controlled through the whole rest of the episode, but someone pointed out that in the final part with the wall, Sneeg held Austin back, not because Showfall wanted them to succeed, but because if Austin kept pushing and panicking, they would all get crushed. It also makes sense that if he knew he'd been through this all several times, then he knew he'd be reset when he died.
We're almost at the end, I promise. If you've stuck around this long, great job, I hope it wasn't too chaotic. Anyway, all of this to say that
Showfall is still figuring out how to control humans. In fact, I think their control is flimsy and relies on the Filter to work. Hetch said that Ranboo passed a test or something, so it wasn't all scripted and planned, plus people keep breaking out of the control. On the other hand, the masked "employees" (robots?? they're filled with wires) are completely controlled and only imitating people.
The way they control people is most effective with masks, but if you break the illusion that everything is fine, they'll wake up. That's why the Filter is so important and it's a problem when it glitches. That's also why all the streamers had their little setups in the mall that looked like their actual offices/rooms and why Charlie, unlike Puzzler, didn't have a mask, but supposedly his set was the cabin where he grew up.
Showfall needs the mask to control Ranboo (and it was broken in the last scenes (how did that happen?? can it still work??)) but he was still under their control for the entirety of episode 3. They may have killed him, but he'd not dead. Side theory— using the mask versus not having a mask for everyone else, while obviously a way to keep Ranboo’s identity a secret, it might canonically end up attached to his face. What if he’s already becoming one of the robopeople?? We saw their skin underneath, but there are all these wire and the control thing attached to the base of his skull and it’s controlling his brain. What if he becomes a monster or on the flip side, terribly injured when he ever takes it off
Ok so what's the deal with Hetch?
Even when he's "helping" Ranboo, he always tried to convince them to just keep going, don't resist, and trust him. Even when Showfall's control is supposedly glitching, Squiggles is on screen, which I found strange, and Hetch's help is never helpful. Hetch says at the end of the Spirit of the Cabin that Ranboo "made it to episode two", implying that he's well aware of what Showfall is putting on (which isn't the same way he presented in the finale), then even saying "I hope you're good at puzzles".
This, combined with Hetch's lackluster attempts to "help" Ranboo in the finale and him convincing them to keep the mask on and not leave, then faking his death, all strongly support the idea that Hetch is a Showfall Media "employee" (The Founder???) who is trying to manipulate Ranboo whenever the mask starts failing and they start waking up. Then of course, the end of the finale proves Hetch was evil all along.
Everything we've seen so far is a big experiment for Showfall Media, but what is it all for? Are they gonna take over the world??? Guess we'll just have to find out.

hi!
you probably don't remember me but i'm the arcane dr person that was annoying you.
anyways...
i cannot make decisions for myself, so i'm bothering you. I am very hesitant to shift to arcane. it mostly has to do with it being kinda a brutal enviroment (at least in the undercity where i'm shifting to) and the fact that with my chaotic scripting it kinda doesn't feel real. like, i wanted to get everything the easy way so i scripted quite a lot of unrealistic things. yet, i kinda don't wanna abandon that dr cuz of my main s/o. and i feel like i NEED to shift there and see that reality with my very own eyes.
so, what do you think? should i abandon that dr?
i’m like 90% sure we’re moots so you’re def not bothering me at all!
firstly, who cares if there’s unrealistic things you scripted? it’s your dr! you can do whatever you want with it and nobody can tell you otherwise. with wanting to see your s/o if you really want to abandon that dr you can always just script them into another dr no problem.
i think if you’re not really motivated to shift to that dr and want to rescript it entirely or abandon it then that’s okay! it’s ultimately up to you and others shouldn’t impact wether or not you want to shift there

It is not their first words, or the place you meet, or the first place you touch. It is the first time you argue. There is no feeling like seeing the words on your wrist slowly turn from being a touch darker than your skin to a brilliant gold, but as an attorney, it certainly is awkward to watch it happen in the middle of a suppression hearing, or immediately afterwards.
Michael Cutter is startlingly dismissive of the detectives who searched your client's house without a warrant, of the beat cops who stopped her without reason. The evidence Michael Cutter is so vehemently supporting is nothing less than the fruit of the poisonous tree. He has nothing without it, and he knows it.
"Mr. Cutter, we both know the evidence is inadmissible. You're an intelligent man. Turn your energy to reminding the officers who bring you evidence that they are bound by law just as we are."
His blue eyes-cold, calculating, intelligent - flash over to you. It occurs to you he probably has, but was determined to fight for what they acquired, as it is his job.
"The NYPD not only serves me, but you as well, counselor. We would not be here if Elisabeth Williams had not harbored evidence from the police."
Your client was a victim of domestic abuse. A survivor who was finally trying to get out. A woman who had been intimidated into hiding a weapon and photographs.
"My client is just another victim, your honor. Her rights have been violated enough. The knife was only found because Officer Braco stopped her for loitering 3 feet away from her own property and found out that the person who was recently taken off the lease had an active warrant on file."
"Mr. Cutter, the knife is out."
"The photographs?"
"Also out, pending further investigation, any charges regarding Ms. Williams and the objects found in her home are hereby dismissed."
"Thank you, your honor," you nodded, slipping the case files back into your brief case.
*
"We'll call her as a witness," he asserts, following you into the elevator.
You scoff, "Haven't you considered that putting your suspect's former partner on the stand may hurt your case? Or, hurt her?" A sigh leaves your lips as you switch your bag over to your other hand. "Ben Stone made cases without murder weapons. Surely, you can manage."
Cutter tensed, hand tightening around his own briefcase. A glance at his wrist revealed "Surely you can manage." turning to a faint rose gold script.
Of course. Of course, it would happen here.
His eyes flick over to you once more, noticing the way you tug at your lip with your teeth as you think.
Did his words already rescript in gold over your skin?
*
Your wrist feels cooler than it had 20 minutes ago, when Cutter had turned to you and wondered why you finally answered the call from Legal Aid.
"Charity wins out in the end, I suppose."
You had wished those words were said near the end of the argument, a laying down of arms, with fond teasing and acceptance. Yet, Cutter's words had burned in more ways than just the changing color of the sentence on your wrist.
Now, in the elevator, you finally catch the smallest glimpse of gold peaking out under the gray of his suit jacket.
Your words tumble out before you can stop them, "Photographs still need film to be developed."
And you both know. There's no way he doesn't feel the pull, the snapping of the thread of hostility, like breathing in new air.
His smirk is disorienting, somewhat unsettling, and it beckons you to match.

Every single time, the love for Dracudog is absolutely hilarious. The matter-of-fact way the Correspondent delivers it only increases the humor somehow. Everyone in Whitby wants to adopt Dracula!
By the kindness of the Board of Trade inspector, I have been permitted to look over the log-book of the Demeter, which was in order up to within three days, but contained nothing of special interest except as to facts of missing men. The greatest interest, however, is with regard to the paper found in the bottle, which was to-day produced at the inquest; and a more strange narrative than the two between them unfold it has not been my lot to come across. As there is no motive for concealment, I am permitted to use them, and accordingly send you a rescript, simply omitting technical details of seamanship and supercargo.
I absolutely love you, Correspondent, I do, but what do you mean there's 'nothing of special interest' in the majority of the log? Sure, there are facts of missing men, but describing it that way entirely leaves out the building dread and the storms and the fear and misery and everything. The last entry in the bottle is great but it needs the foundation of the rest of the excellent entries to have proper impact!
...of course, the Correspondent (and the clerk of the Russian Consul) are apparently the ones we have to thank for that build not being interrupted with a bunch of more technical details and such throughout, so I can't imagine they're ignorant to the effect of that editing, even if it sounds downplayed here.
I LOVE the blending moments of the Demeter narration, I choked up hearing it again. That slightly jerky music, the snippets, the screams and laugh... aghghghhhghghgh. I love the Captain being viewed as a hero even more than I did when just reading the book.

Unsung Heroes: Ghostbusters II's Pastrami Sandwich Guy
As has been mentioned countless times on our 300+ episodes of the Interdimensional Crossrip podcast, when you watch a film that is so rich with detail enough, you notice something new almost every time. And so, after viewing five-million three hundred and one of Ghostbusters II, I’d like to present to you the unsung hero in the corner of the frame who now cracks me up every single time that I see him…
Ladies and gentlemen: Pastrami Sandwich Guy.
Pastrami Sandwich Guy commands about a minute worth of screen time. And he chews both his sandwich and the scenery through the entirety. From first frame of celluloid to last, it literally doesn’t matter to this man that the world is coming to a cataclysmic end and chaos reigns around him — he’s finishing his deli, dammit.
With what looks like a delicious pastrami on rye in hand, Pastrami Sandwich Guy epitomizes New York. He does such a great Marx Brothers-like job of listening and watching the action unfolding around him, but the entire time won’t put down his sandwich and certainly won’t cease his slow and methodic mastication. Ben Stein informs us there’s a shell around the museum they can’t dent (holding a photo of Libby’s pedestal)? Pastrami Sandwich Guy observes but continues eating. Hardemeyer is thrown out of the conference room? Pastrami Sandwich Guy tracks him out the door then returns back to lunch. It’s hilarious.
And the best part, as the entire office gathers at the window to watch the sky grown dark with an eclipse and a vortex seemingly swallow the sky whole, who is absent? You guessed it, Pastrami Sandwich Guy can’t be bothered.
Just a brilliant unsung performance by someone probably just making a scale day rate. So who was this mysterious sandwich loving man? I’ve begun my quest to find out.
Best I’ve been able to figure, Pastrami Sandwich Guy got his time under the lights on Thursday, April 27, 1989. The INT. CONFERENCE ROOM scenes were pick ups toward the very end of production on The Burbank Studios lot. For reference, principal photography of Ghostbusters II had wrapped on Wednesday, April 5th. But about a week of pick-ups occurred later in the month, mainly to finish out the final showdown with Vigo.
As we’ve learned over the years, a cameo featuring Eugene Levy as Louis’ cousin Sherman was cut from the film at zero hour, and with it a huge plot hole of Louis asking his cousin to release the Ghostbusters. Not only that, but Hardemeyer receiving his comeuppance by being sucked into the slime wall around the museum had also been cut. This brilliantly rescripted scene smooths out the absence of both plot points, putting the onus on Mayor Lenny to need the Ghostbusters released and also having Hardemeyer thrown out all in one swoop.
Traditionally, only those with speaking or featured roles in the film receive end credits, so it’s tough to figure out who played our sandwich-eating hero. I did some digging into the GBHQ production archives and also came up pretty empty.
While David Margulies (“Mayor of NY”) and Kurt Fuller (“Hardemeyer”) are typed onto the call sheet, several of the actors in the scene are written in as last-minute additions. Ben Stein is written on the call sheet as “Public Works Official” as is Erik Holland and Philip Baker Hall both as Fire and Police Commissioners. My only guess here is that, because these were pick-up days, the cast of players outside of Lenny and Hardemeyer were in constant flux. Most likely, Ivan Reitman had to call in a handful of favors to his friends to come play that Thursday.
Why do I think that’s the case? The first thing filmed that Thursday was a pick-up shot with a dock supervisor witnessing the arrival of the Titanic, played by long-time Ivan Reitman friend and would-be Stripes star Cheech Marin. Who is also written by hand onto the call sheet.
So the best I can figure is that Pastrami Sandwich Guy was a family friend of Ivan’s, background player from Central Casting, or was someone close to the production who stepped in to fill out the scene. Outside of someone out there identifying him, or getting my hands on a Day Out of Days or other production materials that may have shown who this wonderful man was on the day, it will remain a mystery. But whether we know his real name or not, the man is brilliant and deserves a curtain call.
Anyone out there know who he might be? In the meantime, check out the clip below to enjoy Pastrami Sandwich Guy - long may he enjoy lunch.

Wait a minute, what does that pill guy mean by replacing something broken?!
You don't believe he ever said anything about broken things, but you are concerned about the fact he mentioned something about scrapping you for spare parts.
Tumblr media
You: Hey, what exactly did you mean by scrapping my... biovessel?
Tumblr media
Dr. Rescription: ...theeeeeeeeeeeeeer'es a sun around the- Oh! Sorry, were you saying something?
The pill creature acted like they'd started singing a song, and got interrupted, but they only started after you finished your sentence.
Tumblr media
You: Uh, yeah. What did you mean by "scrapping my biovessel"?
Tumblr media
Dr. Rescription: Oh! Oooooohhhh, right! You see, when a patient of ours is in a COMPLETELY COMATOSE STATE and not anchored to any current zones, OR their core is destroyed, leaving a hollow biovessel, we scrap it for parts and give the appendages to customers who need them, like for example if a conceptoid's exospine is damaged, we replace that! Or if for example their gel layers are disrupted due to a zonal bleed, we can get new gels! Or if someone's cones are malfunctioning, we can-
Tumblr media
You: Uhhh... I think I understand now. What's with the craft-paper bandages, by the way?
Tumblr media
Dr. Rescription: To our knowledge, it seems you injured your thought area.
Tumblr media
You: So I was concussed?
Tumblr media
Dr. Rescription: Ka-what now?
Tumblr media
You: Aren't you a doctor? You should know what a concussion is, haven't you gone to a medical school or something?
Tumblr media
"Dr". Rescription: Medi...ca... I'm sorry, what did you say? I didn't quite catch that last bit.

Haven’t been posting due to not having therapy. Psych had covid in June & she’s gotten every single fragment of a virus that’s crossed her path since. But we were back this week, so that’s good.
Prior to her time off, we did speak about how difficult EMDR processing was just because of different parts holding different memories or parts of memories. How hard it is for me to actually feel the pain of trauma sometimes because we’re so detached. But also every time I try to look inwards, I’m just flooded by the overall awful emotions. I don’t know if it’s the trauma we’re trying to work on, just the whole lifetime of trauma bubbling away under the surface or just a shitty mood. Unless I’m actively triggered, it’s hard to tell the difference. They’re all just as awful as each other.
So, we’re going to try not to focus on the SUDS (subjective unit of distress) before beginning processing & just go off if the distress is increasing or decreasing. We’re also going to do some of the schema therapy rescripting. Just see if it makes any difference. Apparently early evidence is saying it can be as effective as EMDR. Of course more research needs to be done, but might as well give it a go as we haven’t seen much change with EMDR.
I’m not sure we’re all on board because it feels like it’s just making up stories. ‘That didn’t really happen in the trauma memory, so why would it change my perception of the trauma’. But we just want to give it a go anyways.
We tried that today. Just briefly. We started to dissociate after a bit. Things started to change colour & we felt spacey, which is usually the last stage before we can’t pull ourselves back from it. So, we stopped & will hopefully try again next week.
We also spoke again about trying someone else. We just haven’t got anywhere in so long, we really need to try something else. So, I’m going to see a college of hers from her old clinic. They both left aliens the same time, my psych to open her own clinic & this other to go to work for a trauma specific clinic locally. She started the intensive trauma work training around the same time as my psych, but she’s gone on to become fully qualify in it, & is now working on becoming accredited to teach it. Whereas my psych is still completing her full qualification. This new psych has also agreed to allowing me to stay with my current psych for as long as I need. The last person we looked into didn’t want me to do that. She’s also already helped someone to the point of not meeting criteria for DID. Whereas my psych hasn’t got that far with someone, I was her first DID client (not her only one now, but the others are apparently a lot earlier in their therapy journey as a whole). The only down side is it’ll be feb when I can meet her. But I guess with the general limited availability of psychologists & psychiatrists at the moment, for such a specialised one, it’s not too bad. The other thing with this psych is apparently her father is a very well known psychiatrist in the realm of DID. So, she had a head start on her learning. Fingers crossed this works out & it makes progress. I’be been struggling a crazy amount in the past few months & it’s really disheartening to put in so much work with therapy & not get anywhere.

Update:
A LOT has changed about my life. -I'm improving my relationship with food, not feeling so limited by what I can eat. -My lovers are no longer yanderes (changed my mind nearing the time I meet them 💀 because I realized it's just a fantasy and not what I actually desire in a long term relationship and every other part of them is very much desirable in a relationship so I quickly rescripted them.)
-I'm accepting myself more and realizing my worth which I must admit, feels pretty damn liberating + my life is improving tremendously!
-I'm pretty fucking stable financially.
-My lovers are healing themselves, and we're all accepting and respecting each other's boundaries which I admire in them and myself!!
-I meeting people that are more connected on a spiritual and emotional level which helps me create closer, more meaningful bonds.
-I am getting so much opportunities now that I'm letting go of what no longer serves me.
-My intuition has become much more reliable and I feel more self-confident in what I am capable of and my appearance.
-I've also had such an easy and effortless ability to manifest what I truly desire
-I feel more authentic and energized in daily life (one half because I've been eating healthier and listening to my body and physical needs and the other half listening to my spiritual + emotional needs more)
-I'm also easily and effortlessly protecting myself from the evil eye! (Thank you Cornelio)
-Also my heart and mind feel more aligned!
Overall, I am 100% proud of how far I've come!

Meditation: Is the Lord Jesus honored in your home? Why would Jesus' relatives be so upset with him when he began his public ministry? On one occasion Jesus remarked that a man's enemies will be the members of his own household (Matthew 10:36). The Gospel of Mark records the reaction of Jesus' relatives when he went home: they came to seize him. They, no doubt, thought that Jesus must have gone mad or become a religious fanatic. How could a good home-body from Nazareth leave his carpentry trade and go off to become a traveling preacher? To their way of thinking, Jesus had thrown away the security and safety of a quiet and respectable life close to his family and relatives.
Do not be afraid to follow Jesus all the way
Jesus probably expected to meet opposition from the highest religious authorities in Jerusalem. For him to meet opposition from his own relatives must have been even harder. When we choose to be disciples of the Lord Jesus and to follow his will for our lives, we can expect to meet opposition from those who are opposed to the Gospel message and Christian way of life. But the hardest opposition may actually come from someone close to us, a family member or close friend who doesn't want us to take the Gospel message too seriously.
Jesus met opposition - whether from family, friend, or foe - with grace and determination to fulfill his Father's will. Are you ready to obey and follow the Lord Jesus even if others oppose your doing so?
"Lord Jesus, may I always put you first and find joy in doing your will. May your love and charity grow in me, especially in the face of opposition and adversity."
The following reflection is from One Bread, One Body courtesy of Presentation Ministries © 2023.
“he offered himself” (heb 7:27)
Jesus “achieved eternal redemption.” ––Hebrews 9:12
The Holy Bible is often called God’s love letter to humanity. In a particular sense, the Letter to the Hebrews is God’s love letter to Jewish converts to the Christian faith. The author makes this clear when he references the Lord’s prophetic messages to the Hebrew people: “In times past, God spoke in fragmentary and varied ways to our fathers through the prophets” (Heb 1:1).
But Hebrews contains a lesson important for all of us. Specifically, Jesus Himself has replaced the Old Testament sacrifices. A priest of the Old Covenant needed “to offer sacrifice day after day, first for his own sins and then for those of the people; [Jesus] did that once for all when He offered Himself” (Heb 7:27).
Today’s first Eucharistic reading paints a beautiful picture of this reality: “When Christ came as High Priest of the good things which have come to be, He entered once for all into the sanctuary, passing through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made by hands, that is, not belonging to this creation. He entered, not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood, and achieved eternal redemption” (Heb 9:11-12).
This allows us to live as free children of God (see Jn 8:36; cf Gal 5:13). We don’t need to live in bondage, concerned about which ritual is necessary for forgiveness (see Acts 13:38-39). Accept the atonement Jesus offers for you. Follow Jesus. Be free!
Prayer:  Father, grace me to follow Your Son wherever He leads me.
Promise:  “For the Lord, the Most High, the awesome, is the great king over all the earth.” ––Ps 47:3
Praise:  St. Agnes took Jesus’ words to heart: “Some there are who have freely renounced sex for the sake of God’s reign” (Mt 19:12). It won her the crown of martyrdom.

I am not yet I am and the ocean that is the world is enhanced
Is that ego within my mix causing me to trip and slip
Or is this simply where truth exists solely to scare because we fear righteousness when we smell it upon the air
I am truth and you are nourishment for my roots
Do you comprehend my words as they transcend
Your thoughts tare down and rebuild in a single bound
You can not destroy me for my existence is clean
Yet you may never see and this is the oil within the formula the stench within the perfume the reason why the room remains disused
Judge as you will
My existence will continue to transcend and spill
As a waterfall feeding your spring and making you want and need
Does my arrogance appear wondrous or ominously thunderous
My shrug a sign that your perception is a phantasm of your mind
My smile is merely my personal sublime and has nothing to do with portions for your usage
Do you believe the scene as it preens or do you need to rescript the lines naturally seen
Creating a world born of your cerebral
Existing in fantasy cold yet believable
No argument can win when walls fortified exist within the vastness of perceived bliss
And that is how truth is missed
