and if I said that lots of mizu/akemi shippers are actually mizu/fem self-insert and mizu/fem oc shippers then what?

i was gonna remake the lil character bio pages for these two but with how long those took, i'm just gonna post the sketched out redesigns instead :') later on i'll draw some fancy art of these two when i get a day off work again
i also slightly altered how they both kinda exist and why ragdoll is considered modern with like, a really basic timeline i made that shows the change and how they technically are different
Tumblr media
there is a bit more detail but i kept it simple for now, i may draw how ragdoll basically came to be and how they ended up separated from the show itself with no memory of it vrsiondko

more and more it makes me kind of uncomfortable (for lack of a better/softer word) to call my own characters ‘ocs’. because like. they’re from a completely original universe and from completely original intertwined stories and all that. so why would i have to specify they’re original in the same way someone would when referring to a character they made for a pre-existing non-original universe/franchise/whatever? by that logic every fiction author ever would be referring to their characters as ocs rather than just. their characters. you know.
#i guess you could say it’s different or something because I haven’t published any one Solid Official Work yet or anything but.#I don’t think that particularly matters? cause then you just get into policing what does and doesn’t count as Real and Official and that#inevitably doesn’t do anything good#idk man I know the term Original Character isn’t technically incorrect in my case but. I just feel like that term was created to separate#fandom creations from their source’s canon. or maybe to describe characters that don’t come from any particular established universe#or story at all (fandom or otherwise).#cause otherwise. why shouldn’t I just be calling them my characters. the characters from my universe and my works. which are#established and incorporated. it’s definitely not properly organized or set up for true publication (at least not yet. definitely possible#I’ll publish something as a consumable structured thing someday)#you just don’t hear established authors calling their characters ocs. because why should they? the original part is sort of a given.#hopefully anyway#anywayyuyyyyyyeuyyyhh sorry this is not important just has been on my mind the last few weeks or few months or more#kibumblabs#I guess there’s also a difference maybe between making characters for the sake of making characters- and those being ocs- versus#characters that are developed as part of a larger work/story#I definitely feel like there’s a difference between the two and how they should be labelled (but im not saying one is more valid than the#other or anything like that.)#like when I see a poll that’s like ‘how many ocs do you have’ I just kinda sit there cause that question. doesn’t make sense in#my situation at all. because it’s the same as asking the author of a fiction novel that question. what do I count as my ‘oc’#would that mean my primary characters? or vaguely my primary and secondaryish ones? or do you mean every single character mentioned#regardless of importance or prevalence? every single named parent or grandparent or boss or childhood friend or one night stand or etc etc#I feel like it’s weird to call those characters ‘ocs’ in the way the question is implying. but then what DOES count? it just doesn’t make#sense for something like this. right? it irks me a little

Maybe it's the result of my main fandom for the majority of my life being one where canon just genuinely doesn't exist, where there are so many different canons and literally any sort of interpretation of a single character is correct and can range from a moronic maniac with a chainsaw to a depressed old asshole boss, but
Literally who gives a fuck about canon?
Especially when the character is practically a blank slate or if it's an AU
Like, I'm sorry, but if you're butthurt about a mischaracterisation of a fictional character in an Alternative Universe then I don't think you understand what an AU is
#thylacines can talk#Maybe that's the reason I do not have the same violent reaction to mischaracterisation 99% of fandom spaces seems to have#I genuinely think that getting butthurt over somebody not writing a fictional character exactly how they appear in canon is the stupidest#most juvenile pet peeve you could ever have. Literally WHY do you care so much? It's words on a screen. Calm down.#I think it's only a problem when you believe that it's canon or try to shove your own interpretation of a character or AUs onto everybody#else. Otherwise...literally who cares? Somebody else treating characters like dolls is not hurting me. I'm not about to get legitimately#annoyed over fictional characters in a children's cat book. Unless it's like. Bigoted. But then I criticise the person's beliefs not a#goddammed characterisation of a fictional character.#In the fandom I was in most of my life a trigger-happy clown with a chainsaw canon and an old deppressed asshole boss were seen as the same#character and only had like. One design detail in common. And literally nobody batted an eye. You could write a dynamic between two#characters being incredibly hateful and toxic and somebody else could write them as old friends or an old married couple and both of these#interpretations would be equally canon. A single guy could have two wildly different personalities and backstories and he'd still be#treated like the same character as long as the two looked vaguely similar physically wise. Sure there were interpretations of characters#that were more popular than others but literally the only people who would treat one specific interpretation as canon and shove that#interpretation onto everybody else would be people who came from different kinds of fandoms and let me tell you. They were annoying as fuck#So coming from that kind of fandom into more generic mainstream fandoms feels like such a culture shock. Genuinely cannot comprehend why#people care so much.#'oh this character is so far from canon they might as well make an oc' okay...cool...and?#Maybe they don't want to make an oc?? I mean come on. It's fictional characters. You're an adult. It's not a fucking English class#People don't come to fandoms to study book literacy they come here to have fun. Literally WHO CARES if somebody's interpretation of a#character has only name and looks common with the canon version. WHO CARES. ITS WORDS ON THE SCREEN. Who are they hurting if they're just#making AUs in their own corner and not shoving it in anyone's face?#Idk I just see a characterisation I don't agree with and just go oh. Kinda weird but go off. And move on.#This got longer than I meant it to but whatever#I mean if you have that pet peeve but aren't an asshole about it. It's also whatever. That opinion also doesn't hurt anybody. It's only#people who act so butthurt about it and shit on other people having fun that I have a problem with. If you put it on your own blog and#criticise that sort of content in your own space instead of coming to somebody and going 'hey. I don't like what you're doing'. Then I#couldn't care less. Again. That's kinda weird but go off#It's kind of like. I like horror but I dont care if you dont like horror and talk about it in your own space. But I'm gonna care if you#go up to horror fans and go 'hey I think horror sucks' or 'I dont like horror so you shouldn't either'.

//IT'S MUNDAY, PALS! I got something interesting to try, but I'm a bit hesitant to test the waters. I like using Munday to test out my ability to write other muses, but I've done that so many times, and while I love it, I feel it's becoming,, less interesting?
//...How do we feel about MC's?

I'm getting to a point in writing where I want to write more about my ocs than about the canon characters but at the same time it feels like going to middle school art club and being like "this is trilly, they're nonbinary and homeless in the fantasy 1940s and they're traveling with their partner whose name is Starlight and she was an orphan saved by one background character from one book and they're traveling to find Trilly's uncle and cousin who went missing in the war and I think they're really cool so please care about them!"

the writing fanfic to "huh? this doesn't seem like how romance is normally written" to "am i somewhere on the aro spectrum" to "oh god the reason i dont identify w the generic aro label is bc i need a microlabel" to "fuck i need to rewrite this whole fic" pipeline
#mimin trying to write#anyway i discovered the microlabel platoniromantic#which means you cant tell the difference between romantic and platonic love#genuinely never understood why and how people differentiated between romance and strong platonic love#wym you dont want to marry your close friends and kiss them and cuddle them and give them everything you have#no its not romance in the normal sense bc i feel the same way for multiple of my friends at once and if they hv other ppl im not jealous#unless it means they have less time for me#like??? marriage is still necessary bc you do not do this with normal friends. but its not romance?????????#anw tbh ive always headcanoned hestio as being on the aroace spectrum but wtv it is its not platoniromaticism#gg to throw that on him anw tho bc i want romance in this story somehow for The Themes#and its not like i know how to write romance any other way. or i wouldnt have gone down this rabbit hole to begin with#sorry bud!#anyway i guess ill be thinking about how to bring ephael into this#me writing tes/hes the whole time and being like scratches head where is ephael#does not seem right to write so much about hestio loving tesilid and vice versa but not exploring their bond w ephael at all#bc what is the difference...........#but ephael is so hard to write...... idk what goes on in his head...........#hestio is more straightforward his brain is not as twisty#sorry for the sudden personal crisis on my fandom blog#hestio's now a vehicle for me to explore myself i guess. sends him flying kisses youre my OC now#the good thing about small fandoms is that you dont have to care about mischaracterisation as much ig#also the bad thing abt small fandoms is that if you mischaracterise a char you actually will never find out. cries

Once in a Lifetime makes me laugh every time i listen to it. every time i see someone redraw a character in the music video it's hilarious no matter what. i sensibly chuckle whenever i think of the different Miku versions of it.
i've seen other characters from other fandoms (often ones idk anything about) drawn into the music video and it's always funny. i can't explain it. just the utter manic confusion of the original song with the ridiculous sweaty David Byrne imagery applied to randos gets me every time. idc what fandom it is it will make me laugh because i know the character is stuck in TIME PRISON
this, of course, includes the Kermit version

I don't know if this has been asked before but, what will you do if you were in retrograde motion MC's place?
As the author? Die probably. Jokes aside, I wouldn't be able to say half the things MC says lol which is probably a good thing since their big mouth does get them in some bad situations

Oh um hello! Is it okay if I talk about my insecurity about self-shipping with jigen? I just feel so guilty. I remember receiving backlash for self-shipping with him. I also see a lot of backlash on the internet in general. (due to the headcanon of him being gay and stuff, nothing wrong with that but). Idk is it wrong to self-ship with him? Sorry for the sudden ask I just...idk I just feel guilty loving him but again! Idk
It's totally okay to ignore this! I understand.
It isn’t confirmed that Jigen is gay in any series of Lupin. He HAS had relationships with women in the past and while they didn’t end well, I personally still think he cared about them some
If people have a problem with you liking a fictional character, they can block or ignore. There’s no need to bother you about something that isn’t canon.
Yes if someone wants to hc it, go ahead! Nothing wrong with it, a lot of people view he misogyny as a sign, or the way he acts with Lupin. If someone hcs Jigen as gay, fine, I understand why. But never, should anyone EVER, try to force their headcanon on someone else . It’s rude and pushy
So don’t feel guilty for liking Jigen, anon. You keep liking him.

What fandoms are you into atm!!?? :0
My early fandoms have hit me with an complete vengeance recently.
I'm currently active (kinda quiet though) in Bakugan, whilst lurking in:
Naruto (late shippuden lore around Kaguya is absolute bullshit and I ignore most of it, Boruto included for making any use of that lore),
Genshin Impact (for lore analysis rather than actually playing it),
Project Moon (Both I have, Lobotomy I know the lore of but can't finish bc of difficulty curves, and Ruina I'm trying to play through. I've read all of Wonderlab, haven't read through more than the first chapter of Leviathan and... need to read Distortion Detective. We're also getting the gacha Limbus Company at some point this winter.) and,
MGR (mostly the memes admittedly.)
