DAY 1: "Home"

I'm Late to the party, but here nonetheless XD And for day 1 I have Stitches, a half orc life cleric who yearns for nothing more than her home.

You see, she used to be the local medicine woman in a retired little village that saw little traffic. But the locals liked it that way. There, Stitches was known as Gaaia; more a title than a name, really. Before that, she had been Rhea, the previous Gaaia's apprentice and after she took her master's place, she took a Rhea of her own.

Life wasn't easy in the little village, but the people made the best of it, and they were happy. But that happiness was not lo last, as an raiding force one day swept through the village, putting most of the locals to death, carrying off some others and burning what was left behind.

Gaaia was one of the very few that survived, but only barely. Rhea had not been so lucky.

The old woman was saved when a group of adventurers found the ruined village 2 days later. They were looking for a quiet place to nurse their own wounds and to bring back one of their fallen comrades. Gaaia had heard of such magics, but had never witnessed them before. After the corpse drew breath once more, she begged the cleric that he bring back her Rhea as well, but he was out of materials for such a feat.

The local goddess had never given anyone such powers in all her known history, so, securing a promise from the cleric, that he would perform the rite if she gathered the necessary materials, she set off to the nearest city.

She found it in bad shape; the raiding force had passed through there as well; which turned out to be fortunate for her, since in the confusion, she was able to eventually steal a precious diamond and make her way back to her ruined village with it. But once she reached her home, where the adventurers had been resting, she found them all dead. Cut down, by... she couldn't really say what.

And so, her best hope for a reviving a bit of her home was gone and she was left alone. But hope was not so easily extinguished. She had heard of the magics and she knew, She KNEW that there were others, even more powerful. Gripping the symbol of her small goddess she swore, among the bodies of the slain adventurers, that she would obtain the magics needed.

Until then, she left the title of Gaaia in Rhea's grave, and to anyone who asked from that day forward, she was just Stitches. But one day... one day... she would be Gaaia again.
