Bunny Corcoran: Mother, Women and Sexuality (Masterpost)

Apologies for the shitty quality screenshot, idk why their quality got butchered.

Anyway I divided this thing into IV parts.

Not to be a bunny apologist literally, he's sexist piece of shit, but you know whats funny? The way this fandom absolutely REFUSES to acknowledge the fact that, despite Richard's shady ass describing Bunny as "homophobic but not in a repressed way", Bunny could very well be gay or bi at the very least. The fandom just doesn't want to see it because he doesn't form "convenient" enough ships with major characters (he does. You guys are just cowards.)

Yes I know, sexist hetero men despise women just for being women, but they view women purely through a sexual lens. But Bunny's prude ass was NOT a pervert. I mean, this is the guy that got triggered when Richard asked him about his hickey.

Yes yes sexually repressed people can act prude-ish in front of people but be total pervs when alone, but nothing at all hinted at Bunny being a pervert who viewed women as walking meat bags. I just find it weird that the only two female companions he had (Marion and Camilla, aside from Judy bcs we never see them interact) he just...didn't like them. Camilla he was good to, occasionally, in a very platonic way ("paternalistic stance").

CAMILLA

And you know what drives me crazy? In this group of 5 boys and 1 girl, Bunny was the ONLY one who was never inappropriate (sexually) or sexual with Camilla. Even the openly gay guy in the group had kissed her at least once. Even her own brother-- not finishing that. Henry slept with her too. Richard kissed her, and wanted to sleep with her. Not Bunny. Yes, Bun was cruel to her in other ways, ordering her around, saying she was intellectually inferior, but he showed ZERO romantic interest in her. Which is kind of ironic to me. The only homophobe in that group was the only one not acting straight.

MARION

With Marion, my god, the way this boy behaved.

He called her his "reason of being", the purpose of his existence, but he could barely tolerate her. She was only a clip holding him together from those parts where he was falling apart; wounds left from a neglectful mother. Lets not mention how Marion is sort of an underdeveloped image of his mother; delicate, blonde, somewhat haughty.

That bitterness he probably feels towards Kathy was then pointed to Marion. Its so freaking clear that Marion is filling the "Mother" role in Bunny's life. She's "feminine" (a trait often associated with motherhood and vice versa), she's "bossy and businesslike". I don't need to explain this, I'm sure.

But watch Bunny's reactions to her; hes submissive for the most part.

For a man who's so incredibly sexist, it doesn't make sense for him to choose such a woman as his partner, does it? Now, either Richard entirely fabricated or exaggerated Bunny's sexism in order to justify his murder, or

His "dislike" for women didn't stem from the weird sexual obsessions misogynists tend to have, but from something else. It could be, purely, his mommy issues, or something else.

You know that whole, Bunny calling Marion that title, but treating her like a chore just reflects what a big performance his relationship truly was. He didn't love Marion, perhaps he liked her, appreciated or cared for her, but he didn't love her. Marion was, like every other thing in his life, just an element to uphold an image of himself. Potential beard? Maybe.

HENRY

Bunny's true "raison d'etre" might have not existed. The only person he could be said to gave been obsessed with was, truly, Henry. And im not just saying this for the sake of it. Bunny was invested in and attached to Henry, perhaps a result of his financial dependence on him.

I don't know guys, I just don't think its normal to snoop around your best friend's things often, or make multiple attempts to read their journal--

this boy was DESPERATE to know the inner workings of Henry's mind. Mind you, this is BEFORE Bunny found out about the murder, or had reason to suspect Henry for anything. Henry's said he was always nosing around for it, and he mentioned Bunny was an "obtrusive" roommate -- meaning this was normal occurrence for him around Henry. Yes, he was also kind of like this with others (Stealing stranger's foods, stealing Charles' cooking literally as he works in the kitchen) but neither of these required a sense of interest in the person he was stealing from. It was to serve his own needs.

Bunny also shows a reluctance to lose Henry.

After their fight, he's so overwhelmed that he doesn't know how to react (mentioned by Henry himself), and his first instinct is to try and cling onto whatever shred of normalcy there was left between them. Despite knowing the numerous cruel things Henry had written about him, Bunny just took it. He stayed somewhat amiable to Henry later. Yes, yes. He got annoying about "the blackmail" (or his inability to keep his mouth shut) but Henry and Francis BOTH tell Richard that Bunny doesn't see what he's doing as "blackmail".

In fact, i think Bunny the fool was trying to get "in" on the feeling of being in on a secret. Image below is regarding that German that started following them in Rome.

But his immediate reaction of pretending everything's fine isn't the first or last time he tries to keep things cool with Henry.

Henry, despite having to deal with Bunny's worst tantrums, was still treated with a degree of respect that seemed to be reserved only for him. Was he afraid of Henry? Hell no.

Bunny was never afraid of insulting Henry, or fighting with him. But he rarely ever got personal with him. Yes yes he complained about the money and every little thing, but the way he went after the rest of the class? Targeting their weaknesses? He would've known Henry's weakness, he was perceptive enough. But he didn't. He still treated Henry with respect. Deference. Described as "polite submission and respect".

With Henry, Bunny was totally emotionally vulnerable. Henry reactedd explosively twice during their arguments. The first is when he slapped Bunny so hard that he "left a big white mark on his cheek", and the second where he broke that chair when Bunny was fighting him in his room. Despite losing control, Henry maintained a level of composure. Bunny never did. He became hysterical each time, screaming and becoming violent the first time, but sobbing himself to sleep (IN HENRYS BED) the second time.

He slept in his bed. There was literally no reason for him to do that.

Except maybe he craved closure. Maybe he just missed his best friend. Maybe he was too shaken up to move from his spot.

And I don't want none of you fools being all "Henry didn't gaf about Bunny."

This is Henry's reaction to Richard essentially saying "You thought Bunny wouldn't be a problem??" And then reiterating that they're old friends.

Do you even understand the implications of that last line? Bunny, whose entire being was hidden under a carefully crafted persona, admitted his family's SHORTCOMINGS with HENRY. Bunny, whose image was everything for him. Perhaps his image WAS his raison d'etre. Bunny, who lived life as an illusion of his true self, projecting away his insecurities. Bunny, who would never admit that he was poor, that his family was flawed in any way, told Henry this. How many more things do you think he confessed, or what other parts of his past and home did he reveal?

Yes, he could have just been telling Henry those things to mooch him off, but he also mooched off his other friends.they didn't know a thing. Marion, who I believe his family hadn't met yet (?) Probably didn't even know. Amd if youre from a dysfunctional home, you already know the only people you've told about your home are special, hand-picked.

Henry was also the first and only person Bunny told about Camilla/Charles.

Perhaps it hurt him, being left out of such a major events of Henry's life because Bunny was sharing practically everything with him.

Alls I'm saying is, Henry meant more to Bunny than most people realize (and dare I say, vice versa), and the only reason people don't see it is because RICHARD didn't see it (fool saw the potential of the dynamic but then was like "nah bunny's too ugly for that").

Bunny was most definitely either a repressed bisexual/gay man, and you cannot change my mind. And while his hatred of women is vile and inexcusable, it stemmed from a place of deep personal issues and insecurities.

(a/n: hellooo! im super excited to be putting my ideas into writing ((finally)) and sharing it with u! this will be a multi part fic, im not sure how long yet, but i am a fan of long slowburn stories so get ready. also, this story will contain inappropriate themes so minors and ageless blogs dni! this is only my third or fourth fic ive ever done so plz be nice to me hehe. ok on with it then)

Summary: Abby is the starting linebacker at UW and when her team starts to falter her coach decides to get the team into ballet, in order to teach them that grace and stability is important in football too. Abby is just as upset about her teammates about this, until she sees her pretty new ballet teacher...

!!ABBY IS STRAIGHT IN THE BEGINNING. READER IS HER GAY AWAKENING!!

The locker slammed in the empty room as the blonde walked out alone, ready for practice. There were a few "hey man"s thrown her way as she walked out the doors.

Abby had always had a thing for sports since she was a kid. She tried a lot of them too, none of them quite working out.

That was before she found football.

Football was one of the only things that ever made Abby truly happy. She knew it was kind of corny to say, but she seriously felt lost without it.

So when she worked her ass off and was offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to play on the men's football team at the college in her hometown, it just kind of felt like fate was aligned.

Abby jogged over to where she saw everyone else running and started doing so. Abby got along fine with all the boys on her team, I mean it was her team after all, but she never really felt the need to truly befriend any of them. She had her close circle and that was all she needed.

Her said close circle consisted of her friends Miguel, Ellie, and Vi.

Her and Miguel met when they were teenagers at a boxing class. She ended up hating boxing but loving what came out of it. Miguel was the type of guy to make anyone feel good about anything. He could turn anything into the funniest joke, or a life lesson.

And Ellie, well she met Ellie not long ago, when their dads met in a poker club and Ellie's dad kina killed Abby's in the game. They had been friends ever since they started talking about their lack of mothers and love of corny dad jokes. Abby had also always known Ellie was gay, but the deal was kind of sealed when she would gush about her crush on a girl named Riley.

And Vi, well Vi was Abby's best friend since childhood. Abby was embarrassed to say, but she was the scared, shy kid sitting on the ABC rug in the classroom. Thankfully, Vi was the complete opposite and marched right up to Abby on her short little legs and struck up conversation. And the rest of the story just kind of wrote itself.

"Hey! Hey Anderson! Slow down!"

Abby looked over her shoulder to analyze the face calling out to her. She turned back ahead and cringed before turning back around and smiling at the man.

Owen wasn't a bad guy per-say, it was really just the way he couldn't learn when to stop. He had practically been eating out of Abby's hands the past three years they've been playing together.

It always confused Abby why she wasn't attracted to Owen, but she sort of just wasn't, and she thought she had made that pretty clear. She also just liked to think that sports were important to her, and she had too much going on for crushes or relationships.

"Hey Owen what's goin on?" Abby slowed so the man could catch up and tried to approach the conversation politely.

"Oh yaknow...practice," He said in between huffs, trying to catch up with the fit girl next to him, "What about you?"

"Yeah just, practice," She commented, coated with awkwardness.

Owen went to open his mouth to speak again, but thankfully her coach whistled loudly and told everyone to hustle in.

They flocked over to their coach and took a knee in front of him while the moustached man opened his mouth and started speaking.

"I called y'all over here to talk before ya started doing drills," he gruffed in his strange accent, "I hope y'all have noticied, that all your scrimages have been straight crap recently. I've seen blindfolded toddlers play ball better than you sissies!"

Abby cringed at his harsh words, but she couldn't help but agree. She assumed everyone was slacking recently due to the fact it was August, and the season hadn't even started yet.

"So, since I wont be caught coaching a ton of pansies, I've decided to get some outside help," everyone seemed confused by his words, and Abby couldn't help but be confused herself.

What the hell kind of outside help did they need?

"Huskies, y'all are gonna be taking ballet classes," the coach said, smirk prominent on his mustache covered lips.

Everyone immediately groaned and commented with wild distaste for the man's decision.

"Shut your nabbin!" he erupted with anger in his voice, "I don't want to hear another damn word! Y'all are takin ballet to learn that just because you think you're big tough men, don't mean you are! You will learn how to move properly on your feet, improving your agility, balance, and strength coordination. You start tomorrow and are fortunate enough to be taught by the greatest ballet dancer in the state and a student at this school. Dismissed,"

Winds of Change

Chapter 3: When it Rains, it Pours

The gentle babbling of running water is dissonant in Ryo's ears as everyone slowly starts to regroup, making their way toward the middle of the central path, where—his breath hitches, sharp and cold against the inside of his throat—Shuuji is staring at the ground, head bowed and shoulders taut.

What happened in the waterway left its mark on everybody, and Ryo's doing his best to watch over his friends in the aftermath. Unfortunately, he doesn't have eyes in the back of his head, and neither does Shuuji.

i had a whole bunch of stupid temporary names for each section of every chapter during earlier stages of writing to help keep track of what order the segments were in. like i said on ao3, the working title for this chapter (the middle segment, specifically) was "The Gang Misplaces The Baby". Other notable ones were "be gay do crime hold egg" (ch1 pt1), "Get Punched Idiot" (ch1 pt2), and "EGG" (ch3 pt3).

ive been sitting on all my silly kunemon dialogue for WEEKS. im still not sure how i feel about it - on one hand, i kind of like it when you can only figure out what kunemon's saying through context, usually via ryo. but also i think it's really fun to explore what kunemon's voice sounds like in dialogue - if you translated all of kunemon's kews, would he speak the same way as jewelbeemon or banchoustingmon? it's hard to say, given that theres basically no time in-narrative save for the evolution event where banchoustingmon is center stage. that's part of why i think it's a shame that ultimate and mega stage evolutions are affinity-dependant rather than story-depedant. that said, i've heard that the development cycle for this game was BRUTAL, so i dont fault the devs for it. besides, it's kinda fun to try to figure out how to change ultimate and mega evo scenes so that they fit into a specific area of the story. i won't get into it now, but i have MANY thoughts on the subject.

i also have many thoughts about ryo. i know ive talked about this before, but he was the one to surprise me the most in truthful. i truly was caught off-guard at how much of ryo is hidden behind the walls he puts up at the very beginning. it's so delightful to me that this rough, foul-mouthed, prickly guy is arguably the most emotionally intelligent of the group. i bet he has no idea that his ability to read people is so impressive, and likely views his eye for detail is nothing out of the ordinary. i think these skills are both things that he started to hone at a young age, and now they're just second nature. although. i do think these skills completely go out the window when he's in distress.

also on the topic of ryo - i will die on the hill that he and saki have some kind of shared history. i dont think they go to the same school; there's a few references to saki probably being at the same one as takuma and minoru, and then at the amusement park in truthful, theres a bit of dialogue between minoru and ryo that suggests that the two of them go to different schools. so instead, i've mostly committed to the notion that they're …hmm… childhood "friends" is a strong word. probably closer to childhood "acquaintances". childhood "other kid i kept seeing over and over at the same place, and since theres no one else my age around here i dont have any other options". childhood "best available friend".

anyway, I think they were familiar with one another through their parents. it makes sense to me that one of saki's parents worked with ryo's mother or had some other kind of connection to her that faded after she died. or maybe ryo and saki ended up running into each other constantly while ryo's mother was in the hospital. in either scenario, a much younger saki and ryo would have been together frequently enough that they got to know each other pretty well as kids, then grew distant after their families' paths stopped crossing, not seeing each other again until the start of the camping trip. i think thats a decent reason for why ryo's not quite as temperamental with saki as he is with the others rightrightright at the beginning, and it would explain why he doesn't seem to mind her following him around and saying stuff like "idk what you'd do if i take my eyes off you" without him getting all that annoyed (relatively).

but yeah, this chapter was a LOT of fun for me to write. i really liked the idea of getting the immediate aftermath of the fight with wendimon from ryo's perspective. it was gonna be from shuuji's at first, but i think he would have been too caught up in shock and grief to be paying much attention to any of the others. ryo, on the other hand, is extremely observant and perceptive even though he's also pretty upset.

i had a great time writing shuuji listening in on kunemon and ryo's conversation. obviously i loved the duality of shuuji having no idea what kunemon is talking about while we the reader know that ryo gets whiplash between trying to cheer up a gloomy kunemon, exchanging stuff they've noticed about their friends, then being personally attacked about his feelings concerning a specific person (whose identity i hope was at least somewhat discernible without kunemon goggles). shuuji can understand the words ryo is saying just fine, but the information he learns catches him off-guard, and it occurs to him just how much distance there is between him and most of the group. this gave me a fun opportunity to think about what it's like to be shuuji at this specific part of the story - he's just had this horrible brush with death, and even though he's doing much better than he was before, he's at a point where he hasn't grown close with most of the others yet. we don't see much of shuuji having to build or rebuild his relationships with his peers immediately following the waterway - iirc the bulk of what we get is after those 10 days takuma was gone, and by then, the way he interacts with the others is much, much different.

i also really enjoyed getting a bit silly about the game mechanics in the last segment. finding random shit like plates of ribs and weird bananas isn't really addressed much beyond acknowledging that it was found. i think theres been SOME commentary about how the thing is weird, but to my knowledge, WHERE those weird things were found isn't acknowledged. nobody ever sits back like "hey so why the fuck did i find a pineapple inside of the piano" and i thought i could play with that a little!!

all right, thats gonna do it for this week. as you may have noticed, my ability to accurately gauge when i can post chapters is… hmm… questionable at best. i currently plan on posting chapter 4 on monday, but theres a small local con this weekend so i can't say for certain. my usual weekend chores will likely be pushed to monday unless im able to get them done tomorrow (highly unlikely), so we'll just have to wait and see!

WELL. ive been putting off a proper character introduction post for katsu due to lack of sufficient motivation but HERE WE ARE FINALLY. my silly boy katsu. my darling son. my lizard kitty thing. lil long under the cut :)

full name: katsu arahata race: raen au ra gender: cis male sexuality: gay height: 6 feet 9 inches (nice) nameday: 23rd sun of the 3rd astral moon age: 24 at the start of ARR. turns 25 shortly after stormblood, and turns 26 the same day patch 6.4 happens birthplace: southern shishu (whatever xiv's equivalent to okinawa is) occupation pre-ARR: lived in kugane with his parents, likely had a job at the mujikoza. reason for beginning journey: grew tired of his mother telling him how to run his life even as an adult as well as feeling like he had to live and breathe for the sake of the arahata family and nothing else, so he left kugane without warning, leaving only a note to his parents. residences: was born in southern shishu and raised there until age 5-6, when his mother decided she wanted him to get a better education in a more affluent part of hingashi, so they moved to kugane. eventually buys an apt & then a house in limsa. overall disposition: tends to be generally friendly and warm to most folks he meets, but the degree of such is based on how much he trusts you. for strangers, the friendliness is just a facade he puts up to keep himself safe, but once he trusts you he becomes a lot more genuine and expressive. loves making his friends laugh. has issues with anxiety and sensory overload but tends to hide them due to aforementioned trust issues, and only talks about them to his closest friends. enjoys learning and likes a bit of adventure, but generally prefers taking it easy. initially a bit of a pushover pre-ARR until EW due to habitual interpersonal conflict avoidance, but deep down greatly values his own agency. notable negative traits: can sometimes be distrustful, occasionally dishonest, avoidant, and ever so slightly vengeful. can be stubborn at times. copes with reality by romanticizing awful things or deluding himself that stakes are low even when they are not. and if that fails, he'll feel compulsions to abandon everything that he's worked for and start over anew... which he has given into at least once. hobbies: has a deep passion for the arts in general. has taken classes for folk singing and multiple instruments during his teens. worked backstage doing music for the mujikoza in his early 20s. enjoys theater but could never see himself taking the spotlight, claiming itd be too stressful. enjoys both pencil illustration and sumi-e painting, particularly when the subject is anything in nature. during MSQ, he learns a little bit from each crafter's guild in eorzea, but ends up enjoying weaving and carpentry the most, bowmaking especially. also keeps a pet lizard.

favorite color: he's a sucker for blue, but also likes a nice bright red. favorite food: unadon (bbq eel over rice) romantic interests: had brief crushes on martyn and aymeric that he never pursued. also developed an attraction to his then-best friend thancred in post ARR. did not pursue him either until post HW, but even then kept it relatively unofficial. it wasnt until late STB that they made things official between them. classes: -had some sojutsu (spear arts) training as a teenager as part of his education, so he uses polearms as his weapon of choice for all of ARR til SHB. begins his dragoon training in ARR as well. -picks up BLU during post ARR just for fun. -picks up DNC during post SHB initially on a whim but later as an outlet for expressing his emotions. -picks up BRD post EW for similar reasons, and also as a way to have a "fresh start" after everything that happened to him during MSQ. -picks up DRK directly after 6.4. initially just wanted to learn swordplay in general while trying to conjure a blade of light at will to defeat zeromus, but his dark magic is warped by the lightcrystal given to him by yshtola in 6.2, essentially becoming a custom class. never actually named by anyone in game (i think?) but my name for it is arch knight, or ARK, based on the ff tactics class.

Jk album is just not good. Ever hear clear bandits rather be song? Yeah. I am sure one of his songs is a copy of that melody. If ppl want that generic crap they probably think butter is the best bts song ever. It's also pathetic the connections ppl keep making to jimin because of the lyrics. Jikookers....jk disnt writw anything, he had no choice what he wore, he had no thoughts at all. He sang poorly written songs, bland mediocre melodies, and unoriginal and danced around like a trained monkey.

Then you have v who tried to being back the 60s love song slow rock vibes. At least he pitched in his ideas and tried. I swear ive heard something very similar to v slow dance...def 60s vibes. I wish taekook all the best.

At least clean bandit used to go off at the gay clubs and you'd feel as hot as Adele Exarchopoulos dancing to it while your drunk pick me white girl with cornrows has her hands inside your shirt and she keeps stealing kisses from you.

I haven't listened to Jungkook's album but I highly doubt it's going to receive the Gay Club Music Approval so that's enough for me. Layover definitely didn't pass the Gay Club Music test.

Jikookers are just hanging in there as hard as they can lol. I was surprised when JK said there's nothing he wants to write about, or something like that. So according to jikookers he's been in love for 10 years and he can't squeeze out ONE song?!*?#( twelve year old girls write love songs, mind you.

(Part of me tho keeps in mind the option that he's lying about that and just wanted quick and meaningless fame and popularity so out of the goodness of his heart he just made this album as a gift to scooter and bangpd. But he's been proven to be quite.. an empty shell of a man lately, so I'm still more inclined to take his word for it).

Same goes for Taehyung. He's dating one of the hottest women in entertainment and he can't say anything about it?

They've been scamming people making them believe they can write music.

dia dhuit! i was wondering why you dont like leo varadkar? this is completely genuine, im a young irish person who knows very little about irish politics and would love to learn more, ive seen a lot of leo hate but im not sure where it comes from, and i respect your opinions on other things so i was hoping you would be willing to explain a little?? no worries if not, go raibh maith agat!! <333

dia dhuit! thanks for this ask, getting really annoying about politics is unfortunately one of my favourite hobbies 🙏

i’d like to start by saying that i am biased against varadkar since i lean left politically, and therefore have never voted fine gael and will never vote fine gael, because i don’t believe that their policies/promises/ideas are what’s best for ireland in the short or long term, and are often actively damaging.

leo varadkar has been the leader of fine gael since 2017, and his party has been in government since then. in that time:

• child homelessness in ireland has reached its highest ever recorded level

• he and his government ended the no-fault eviction ban during the worst housing crisis this country has ever seen

• our hospital systems reach breaking point every winter, and in 2022, 60% of newly trained doctors emigrated to Australia

• the mother and baby home records have been sealed for 30 years, against heavy protests from the victims and their families

and in terms of varadkar more personally, i just think he’s a very unpleasant politician:

i do want to stress that i vehemently disagree with some criticisms of varadkar, namely those coming from ireland’s far right wing. accusations against him include: that he has let immigration spiral out of control and ireland is full (this is fascist rhetoric used to justify the arson attacks against various asylum seeker accommodations), that he has let ‘trans ideology’ (whatever that is) dominate our schools (blatantly untrue. if anything, varadkar still has a long way to go before he is anywhere near as progressive as he should be regarding trans rights). lots of these far right wing criticisms are heightened against varadkar since he is of indian descent and openly gay.

in fact, i will give one (1) small bit of praise to varadkar: i thought he handled brexit okay. but apart from that? i can’t say much

fine gael have been in government for over a decade, and our most successful feats (gay marriage referendum, abortion referendum) have come as a result of grassroots campaigners. i do not think that fine gael, especially under varadkar’s leadership, has helped ireland. as a young adult trying to live in dublin, i feel the effects of the housing crisis every day. i feel the effects of our government’s apathy towards young people every day. this is leo varadkar’s government, and so yes i do blame him

i am heterosexual but i'm a big supporter of the lgbtq+ community. my brother is trans and gay, some cousins are bisexual, my best friend from year 4 is a lesbian and i have another friend that is non binary. i go to a lgbtq+ club where i can advocate for equal rights and even won a debate over if transgender people should go to the toilets of the gender they identify as or not. it should be clear where i'm standing at. jonghyun isn't just my first ever bias and crush, but he's my role model too. i want to have a husband like him one day so if my kid comes out as lgbtq+ they could feel accepted in their own home. i am very family orientated despite my age and i do hope that i do become a mother one day.

I tried to do a quick doodle for this bc i realized i dont have too many recent drawings of mavis… i feel like all i draw is my ocs but i rlly havent had time for much original art so!

Mavis is an oc ive had for a while now! idk where it is but i think my first drawing of them was like. fall 2019 in a sketchbook? i had the idea for them for a few weeks before i got around to sketching though… i only remembered this when i found that sketch but one of the trivia for him when i first drew her was that she has been stabbed twice accidently?? i dont remember the signifgance of this at all lol but its funny.. im gonna keep it in the lore tho. Mavis kinda started as like. a best friend for noam but she turned into a lot more than that.. in the earliest idea of them she was a cis guy? but he’s leaned more and more feminine from that orignal idea- i now define him as transfeminine nonbinary, and on estrogen and post op feminizing top surgery.. but like i think in her head she’s a gay man and a lesbian and bisexual etc…

She works as a hairdresser at a family run salon he partly inherited after the death of their mother. They co-own it with their cousin. They are extremly close with their dad, and they talk everyday. She’s really into loud music, and lives with a close friend/ex of theirs, kel. Kel and Mavis were in a relationship for a few years before realizing they just weren’t really into eachother. Noam, mavis’ other best friend and ex shows kinda a track record with mavis. They generally aren’t into the idea of relationships as ‘forever’. When they end up dating noam again and also dating kidd and their long distance partner, nico- they set ground rules with all of them. Mavis is aro, and nervous about the idea of serious partners, but ultimatly wants them. It’s just very important to them that their partners know about their conflicting relationship with romantic attraction. Mavis is intrested in mod fashion, and while it doesnt always show up in their fashion directly, its an influence. She had a difficult time growing up, and met noam in theraputic boarding school, which was the first time they dated. Dating, in the end, is difficult for them even when its something they want to do!

rotating putting a mild effort into nanowrimo this year, as "my project focus for november will be writing prose" and not necessarily "im going to write a 50k novel in 30 days". ive been thinking about revisiting Wayward Wolves and this seems like a good time of year to sit and type and drink bottomless coffee, ya feel?

anyways a summary of ww under the cut

for anyone new here (and to be honest i havent touched WW in ~3 years? ish?), Owain's Shelter for Wayward Wolves (often I shorten it to wayward wolves, wwolves, or ww), is a story that I think works best as prose, maybe with chapter illustrations.

It's about Owain, a werewolf since birth, running a local advocacy/outreach group that focuses on newly turned werewolves that turn up in the area. He picks them up, usually from animal control or the police, and teaches them what they need to know about their condition, and offers the safe fenced compound him and his mother run for wwolves to turn at. In turn, injury, death and damages are reduced and everyone stays safe. Shortly after his old best friend (who turned enemy) shows up in town again seeking refuge as a new werewolf, a series of attacks are happening on humans and livestock in the area. Surely it's not Cassie, right? Owain races the local authorities to find the culprit rogue wolf, while trying to clear Cassie's name and repair their old relationship.

and because im not a coward my werewolves are all explicitly some combination of gay, trans, or disabled. Cassie in particular transitions during the story, feeling a lot of different things when your entire sense of body is no longer what you thought it was. She is experiencing the hair and muscle growth that comes with being a werewolf, even in human form. The dysphoria of interacting with someone who knew you only as a kid, a teen boy. The disconnect between your body and mind when you have a back injury and cant maintain the same level of activity you're used to using, used to using to survive.

Cassie's the character I have fleshed out the most tbh but Owain's the main/pov character (for now, i might try flipping povs). Owain's arc is a lot about self esteem, interpersonal relationships, autistic burnout, and trust.

Ive been gender critical for most of 2021 now and before, i dont know what i was thinking, but with all the gender stuff i was really convinced that people were getting better and less homophobic. Ive been just so broken since ive realized how false that is. im really tired of having such thin skin to homophobia, i know it ridiculous and stupid to be homophobic but its just the fact thats theres so many of them... what do to make it not ruin your whole day? thanks

Honestly? I suggest logging off and interacting with regular people. I remember telling my coworker about some of this gendie stuff and he was in complete disagreement with all of it and he was surprised people thought like that.

Even with close friends who support gender, most of them don't care about my opposing views and agree with some of it. One time my gf directly challenged the things I was saying in terms of gender and I brought up a time when she criticized a woman for comparing strap ons to dick and she completely changed her tone. Another time, I brought up my views in my group chat (they were heavily discussing gender at the time) and my friend said "I've been agreeing with everything that was said throughout the day but after reading what [me] wrote, I agree with a lot of that too."

All of this to say, that you'd be surprised at who'll agree with you if you express your feelings.

You can get through the day by knowing that most people you meet on the street simply don't care about your sexuality. I can't remember the last time I told a kid my age that I was gay and received a negative reaction. I don't know how old you are but even my Christian mother and father leave me alone about it. People are way more accepting than you think.

If all else fails, what gets me through the day is absolute spite lmao. Straight people are completely left alone through all of this. When's the last time you heard a straight man be told he had a genital preference? At the end of the day, these people are hypocrites and homophobic and hateful.

"if you wouldn't go to someone for advice, don't accept their criticism either"

Fuck them.

If that's still not enough, know that you're not alone. There are plenty of people in the gender critical community who are ready to support you. You found me after all, right? Gay people will do what we do best: persist. We're not going anywhere.

he liked trevor, i could tell he did but trevor wasnt the one he watched get r^ped by a russian prostitute, he wasnt the one ian was secretly dating bc it would be a death wish other wise, he wasnt the one there when ian was manic or depressive ( at the start )

he tried blackmailing an old client for money

of course he did, hes a southside kid who was destined to fail

also it is very apparent that during the gay jesus era he went off his medication which didnt help

ian was helping others and was spreading awareness about lgbt with in the prison , and as him and jail scenes go , we can see people were listening to him and he was trying to make it safe sane and consensual

he didnt want to, we can see this, because he knew he would let down everyone, his family were the only ones to ever ground him and they knew it would be the best option for his own mental health

this is actually the only point in this article i actually agree with , so only 1/20 i agree with

he wanted to, it’s obvious, but ian has his family and didnt want to abandon them again, i think part of him knew he would see mickey again because they always find eachother, he gave mickey all of his money and wanted mickey to have a good life

no it wasnt, but thats why the ship is great in its own way, the gay closet kid raised by a homophobic man is obviously going to have a lot of baggage , and ian who is bipolar and struggling with himself will also have a lot of baggage , but in the end they love eachother and that really shows in season five and season seven specifically

HI also this has happened thrice with my mutuals once with claudio and once with ramon everyone unfollows me whilst trying to send asks anyways uhh i think the song of achilles is a poor iliad adaptation that kind of makes the characters either really milquetoast or really caricaturized beyond belief (the one character i think they did...relatively less awful with briseis just because for ONCE. for ONCE an adaptation didnt make her in love with achilles and actually leaned into her relationship with patroclus more which i really like as in the iliad the one time she speaks its not even about achilles lol. but she still only rlly exists to augment the achilles and patroclus relationship and also she dies in a really awful way which i HATE). like if a character is not made like wildly evil (agamemnon, thetis, neoptolemus and the latter i find funny cause hes just as bad as his dad is in the iliad and iliadic related content) theyre declawed to all HELL

and thetis being evil makes me so mad when she has a good relationship with achilles, maybe one of the most important relationships with achilles in the iliad, his best loved one other than patroclus, and its implied she cares for patroclus as well as shes the one to preserve his body and keep it from rotting but in here shes just. the homophobe mom who only exists to keep achilles and patroclus apart bc she hates patroclus which is SO stupid because it goes against one of her biggest character traits which is ‘she loves achilles so much and would do anything for him’ as well as so many of the women in this story only being a wedge between achilles and patroclus’ relationship (like deidamia) which is so misogynist and pisses me off SO much because theres so much more you could do with that! like i understand making the gods more distant and abstract and cold to humanity but there are canonically cruel ass gods in the iliad and thetis is not one of them!!!

and going back to my declawed comment objectively the worst characterization here is patroclus. in the iliad patroclus is known to be very friendly and likeable among the greeks, he weeps when he hears of them being beaten by the trojans and one of his epithets is even ‘amicable’, as well as briseis saying he was the sweetest to her when she became a slave (because yes she was a slave she literally was a slave and no one acknowledges that because god forbid achilles and his men could be the the BAD guys here).

but hes not just nice lol! hes known to be a fantastic fighter and when he dons the armor of achilles and goes to fight the trojans he has the highest kill count of any iliad character! he tries to mount the walls of troy because he wants to destroy shit so bad he may be nice to the greeks but hes also an incredibly formidable and violent fighter (and he killed a guy at the age of 12 by the way hes just wild i love my crazy boyfriend soooo much) and tsoa just makes him. incompetent lol? so that achilles can like rescue him all the time which is so silly...lean into the warrior boyfriends dynamic you want to have warrior boyfriends who are crazy and kill people in your books SOOO bad

also the song of achilles doesnt even lean into the kind aspect of him yeah hes nice to briseis and the women but where are his friendships w the greek men lol? what about him and menelaus?? theyre really good friends in the iliad, menelaus getting upset over patroclus’ death is heartbreaking too.

but patroclus isnt an active character, everything that happens to him is just that-it happens to him. he makes NO active choices at all the only thing he does is ask achilles to let him fight for the greeks. hes just a witness to EVERYTHING he does NOTHING of genuine importance or active choice and i know that it was written like this so it could make achilles seem more important, (as well as leaning into the ‘oh we have no choice when it comes to how the gods play us’ but i would argue in the iliad whilst a theme of us being victims to our grander fate is there, the iliad also says that even though we cant control our ultimate futures we CAN control the choices we have in front of us, achilles giving back hectors body wont bring back pat or make him. not die eventually but he still does, and its still important. maybe the MOST important choice he makes. but thats... another thing lol) it is tsoa after all, but patroclus is also a main fucking character lol? and as important as achilles is to patroclus’ character so is patroclus’ to achilles!

also even achilles seems like hes strung around first by his mother and then by the war and god it all seems like this is all here to absolve achilles of responsibility, to absolve him of wrong doing when in the iliad achilles does many many many things wrong as well as just being a bit of. an emotional hotcase (lol), and thats what makes him interesting! but no hes just whitewashed so that we dont have to feel bad for liking him and we wont find patroclus morally dubious for just going along with all of achilles’ shit out of love (when patroclus, like i said above, also does bad shit cause thats just how these characters are...most of the greeks do awful wretched shit in the iliad lol and they still are heroes with compelling characters cause like. moral ambiguity baybee)

anyways this is all to say as an iliad adaptation it sucks. as a gay love story though. its fine lol? again. not my fav dynamic for these two but. this book isnt meant for people who are like hardcore achilles kinnies or whatever the fuck or have been reading and fixating on greek myth since they were baby like me lol. i know there are lgbt kids who read percy jackson or whatever or are vaguely familiar with greek myth who are going to read this book and see themselves in it and be happy and content with the rep and thats wonderful. i recognize this book isnt really supposed to be for readers like me who are hardasses about adaptation and its okay for people to enjoy it as less of a greek myth interpretation and as the romance it actually is. the writing is very beautiful and yes it inspired some (positive) emotions out of me regardless.

however if youre looking for gay greek myth content that actually has pretty interesting and compelling characters, with various heartbreaking stories and fascinating themes about divinity, fate, humanity, and love well. just read the iliad.

Derek was three years older than Stiles, but the bond they developed with each other was something their mothers considered out of a story book. Like Derek, Stiles was sensitive to his emotions, but unlike Derek, Stiles didn't need a scent to figure it out. He could feel it.

anyway ive also been thinking about the pearl clutchers and their ‘but think of the children!’ claim that luca and alberto are too young for crushes, and i dunno about anybody else but i remember having crushes on boys as early as 10 yrs old. not that i TALKEd to boys, god forbid, i didnt want anything to do with them back then but it was like a requirement among my friend group that you had to have a ‘crush’, so i did. but i distinctly remember age 11 was the first time i became unknowingly infatuated with a girl who was a friend of mine, and how much of a disaster that was :/

i still remember her full name, partially because this was also when my mom (worked for that big M company up in seattle) first got the internet on our home computer, and i used this girl’s name plus my nickname for her for all my passwords (her name still WAS my ffnet password up until a few years ago LOL). we were not even that close of friends, i was just crazy about her. she was beautiful with dark hair and dark eyes and a very dry sarcastic humor. we had PE together in 6th grade, and her last name was right behind mine, so whenever our teacher would pair us up by names, she and i ended up together. this is the only reason i even met her, because i was a /nerd/ and was like...way beneath her in the pecking order. and for some reason after we became inseparable in PE she let me be her friend, and sometimes eat lunch with them, and omg i was over the moon. she was cool in the ‘alternative’ sense back then - so like, more into rock and 107.7 The End (is that still a thing?) than star 101.5 (pop music), and her friends were all the Cool Alternative girls (i was the nerdy side of alternative, you know the kind who taught herself how to write in elvish so no one could read my diary, and had LOTR memorized by age 11, but still listened to like the killers and scissor sisters). I was terribly jealous of one of them - her old ‘best friend’ from elementary school who hated the fact that i joined their group and would try to shove me out of it. life was much better in PE when it was just me and this girl (we can call her O), i did not give a shit about anybody else, lol.

i had other friends, of course, right before summer started some girls i met in 6th grade chorus (Nuri, Abby, Jilly bean) and i did a ‘radio show’, wrote the script together and everything, and that bond accidentally turned us into a ‘best friends’ group (with my bff Lauren who i pulled in as an extra) of the more typical kind. the five of us even dressed up in identical outfits we bought at target for ‘twin day’. ive actually written about this real group of friends before. but those were my actual, bffs forever and ever friends, and that group lasted all the way through high school up until today...so like almost two decades now.

so what im saying is, my friendship with O was different, very very different, and i knew it was different, and that O didn’t care nearly as much about me as i did her. i tried sO HARd to be the person she wanted to be around the most, omg i remember some of the things i did and i cringe lol. 11 years old and stupid right? when it was just us things were normal and it felt like magic, and oh boy i could make her LAUGH. but then when her friends would come into the picture it was...not good. i remember the day i discovered that ‘normal’ girls shaved their legs :/ or god they used to call me ‘orange’ bc of my skin and foundation. i tried /so hard/ to live up to their standards but i always failed somehow, there were so many rules for being a Cool Girl that they seemed to know naturally. in 7th grade O and i got put into a new PE class with her old best friend, which was a DISASTER for me bc suddenly O was pairing up with the old best friend and i was left with this other girl who i was absolutely not enamored with, and one day during square dancing, when we were lining up boys-girls to pair off, and all the girls were trying to count and match themselves with the boys they liked, except they were bad at counting, and i could count better and since i didnt give a fuck about who i was partnered with as long as i was still in O’s ‘square’, i silently arranged it so that i got put with the most popular boy who also happened to be the old best friend’s crush. the old best friend was mad about that - she could have fixed it had she been smarter and saw it coming, but she was dumb and she didnt count properly and i danced with her crush, and she hated me ever after. it was at that point the friend started calling me orange and making fun of my clothes and trying to get O to stop hanging out with me. and she finally did after eighth grade when we all graduated to high school.

i have zero photos of O, i still look her up on insta occasionally, i dont think she’d even remember me tbh except maybe as the weird girl they kept around for entertainment value for a while, but im just saying that was ages 11-14 and those emotions and crush feelings were INTENSE and i didnt even realize what it was at the time, because of course you cant have crushes on girls, who does that lol. my mom had a bunch of gay dancer friends (most of whom died in the 80/90s, which i only know because age 10-12 (mom stepped sideways out of my life after age 12) she took me to pride every year and i went marching with a group of mothers/friends of men lost to AIDS and i carried a sign i drew with a leaping male dancer on it), but i dont think i ever really understood what ‘lesbian’ was until Mean Girls came out, and even then i didnt have the ‘oh shit’ moment till college. im just saying...let gay kids know its ok to have crushes. let them feel normal. let it be sweet and innocent infatuation as adorable as Tombo adoringly following Kiki on his bicycle while she tries to impress on her broom. let it be about that intense feeling of wanting this one person to be more Special than anyone else in one’s life. heterosexual kids are encouraged, almost pressured into, having crushes at that age. let queer kids have that too ;_;
