I made way too many and they aren't my wife's favorite, so I could use some help in eating them.

You're probably a writer, right? Or maybe you think about how you could be. Browse the tags here, or on other social media platforms. Maybe you used to write stories as a kid. I bet those were fun. Teachers might've thought they were impressive, or they dissected them line by line until the words didn't make sense in your head anymore. Either way, if you're here you're probably here for a reason.

I dipped a toe in online writing communities on and off. My last attempt was forty-five minutes scrolling through the writing hashtag on Youtube Shorts (so TikTok, I guess? I don't know). I didn't like it. I really didn't. The thing that sticks out the strongest in my mind is one particular video where a woman claims that every story needs a second act plot twist.

Huh? Every story? All of them? Why? Since when? Who are you? What qualifications do you have to make a statement like that?

That's the common thread that makes a lot of writing spaces very uncomfortable for me. Successful writers are really only successful in their genre and for the given moment, so they don't have that much objective authority in the craft. And yet I see a lot of people deciding the things that you can't do in writing. Or the things you have to do, and how you have to do them. It was so much of Writeblr at first glance that I almost dipped out once again. I didn't, though, and I'm glad I didn't because now I get to watch some of the next great storytellers from across the world grow and examine and forge their way forward.

No one can teach you how to write. No, that's not true. Teachers teach literacy. Handwriting. Typing maybe - do schools still teach typing? Let me try saying it in a different way - no one, not one single person on this goddamned planet, has the right to tell you how to make a story.

I was supposed to get my MFA in creative writing before my first breakdown. My uncle stayed in the program I was meant to be in, and a few years after I dropped out he graduated. Recently I had the thought to look up his thesis novella, and as I searched I found myself regretting my decision to leave school. If I stayed and got to develop my writing in an actual class, with other writers and a knowledgeable professor, how much further along would I be than where I am right now?

It was bad. His novella was terrible. It was so bad I had a small existential crisis for, like, three days. He spent so much money on years and years of professional education and came out with a truly soulless story that read as if you prompted an AI to write the next Great American Novel. So if you think you need a writing degree to be a legitimate author, it could help connections-wise, but it ultimately won't be the thing that does the work for you.

Not all advice I see online on writing is bad. I find the people who are able to capture the "I" statements of therapy and phrase advice as things that have worked for them, or things that they personally enjoy, to be fine. Some writing advice can spark inspiration.

But if someone is the type of person to boil every story down to troupes and cliches, and then immediately say that every story that uses the trait they don't like is automatically bad for everyone? I'm dropping the kindness for a second - that's trash. That's a trash take and I see far too many writers use it as a reason to stop before they begin.

I don't like whump. I say my reasons in previous posts if you go back through my blog. But you will never hear me say that any story with whump in it is bad, because I don't know that. You might prove me wrong. I am an adult human being and I have the humility to admit that I can like something I didn't expect to. I genuinely enjoy the direction of The Human Centipede (only the first one) and if you cringed just now that probably means you haven't seen it.

There are so many types of books and movies and plays and comics out there. To enjoy a specific genre is fine, to ignore the existence of everything else is a really, really, really odd thing to do. Maybe someone will hate your story because they think everything should be Neil Gaiman, and therefore have no way to understand your epistolary high-Western. You are not the wrong end of that situation just for existing.

And at there is a definite threshold on how many writing tips you can gather before they stop being useful. If you find them interesting, that's one thing. That's fine. But if the culture of creativity online has made you feel like you need to educate yourself on every possible angle before you can write a story, you are actively harming yourself.

Imagine taking the level of structure you put on yourself in that way and putting it on children playing pretend in the backyard. Oh, Susie, don't you know that it's overdone for your Kitsune have dead parents? Xyler, shouldn't you ask someone else before you decide how Spiderman would react to this? It would make no sense and they do not need it. Kids will make a whole world out of nothing and it's the most fucked thing in my heart that at some point they get access to Reddit and dipshits start insisting that's wrong.

They aren't wrong and you aren't either. Your favorite creative influencer can't tell you your story, strangers on the internet can't tell you your story, your teachers and loved ones can't tell you your story. They can influence it, but they can't write it honestly the way you can.

You do that. That's the thing you do.

Man that makes me upset. I can't tell you how to make a story, either. If anyone sends me asks for writing advice the most I'll do is say what I've done before hopping into your DMs and starting a direct conversation. it's so personal to each individual artist, and I'd like to think that the people selling these classes and software and promoting these platforms haven't thought about that before. Otherwise it does feel manipulative. If you have a willingness to practice and imagine and really experiment with the possibilities, you are ready to write your story.

And if it doesn't work? Try again. That's what you do.

Stephen King has written roughly a thousand books and maybe five of them have decent endings. He is unimaginably successful.

I'm rambling now. I think I got that out of my system. I was really worried to say this out of fear of being too weird or somehow reverse-gatekeeping so hard that it circles back into also being a bad thing. I've just spoken to a lot of people who I still think of throughout my day, and I truly ache for them to get past the fear of creation. Because it's worth it. It's worth it and it's fun, even when it's messy and you're tired.

I could go on more but just know that if the character looks like they deserve some sort of hug, 90% of the time they're likely my most favorite character.

-> A troubled person trying to get by in college. Currently seeking therapy and found support with many lovely individuals (my friends!) and making some form of progress to fix myself. My primary form of coping is drawing and making stories where the characters fight similar struggles as mine (They are essentially my Earthbound Flying Men). This is one of the reasons why I make a lot of art and draw fast- It is not to chug out content- I just draw fast and a lot. Well... I used to draw fast, but with the advice of many, I'm taking it easy.

What uncommon/common fear do they have? Being alone, I guess. Hope has this romantic and idealized view of love because her parents have been together for so long that she grew up with it and she's like "wow, I want that too", so that's why she stayed with Danny all this time (because let's face it, everyone could see it except her)

Do they have any pet peeves? The lack of commitment. She simply detests people who are not capable of committing to their loved ones. In part, I guess it's because she is too compliant. She gives her all without expecting anything in return and sometimes people take advantage of her

What are 3 items you can find in their bedroom? Lots and lots of cat toys, her clothes on the floor and chairs (that's my messy girl) and probably a cat sleeping on top of the clothes.

What do they notice first in a person? She usually judges people by the way they treat others, especially girls 👀

On a scale of 1 to 10, how high is their pain tolerance? Meh, 4. She is the first daughter of a teen couple and the ultimate daddy's girl. Jay and Miracle practically wrapped her in bubble wrap for her entire life. Hope was protected by her parents much more than her sisters, and her tolerance for anything that hurts her is really low

Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure? I'd say she would fight? but seeing that she found Danny with his lover and ran straight to her parents' house… lol. She's definitely the kind of girl who would disappear without even leaving a note. "I don't like this bye" kinda girl.

Do they come from a big family/are they a family person? It depends on what is considered a "big family". She has three sisters, but her grandpa had 6 children, so you could say almost lol. That said, she is a family girl. If it were up to her, she would build a house on her parents' ranch and live there until she's old and gray.

What animal represents them best? A penguin? 😂🐧

What is a smell that they dislike? The smell of the disinfectant they use at the vet to clean the floors 🤢

Have they broken any bones? Never. I don't think she even scraped her knee as a child 🙄

How would a stranger likely describe them? I guess shy. But if the person in front of her shows up with an animal, Hope immediately becomes all chatty and excited. Nothing like a pet to break the ice (honestly me)

Are they a night owl or a morning bird? morning bird. Her routine starts every day at 6:00 a.m.

What is a flavor they hate and a flavor they love? She likes the deep taste of black coffee, and hates anything bitter.

Do they have any hobbies? Whenever she has a free moment, she likes to sit down and browse the Simflix catalog because her favorite thing is to sit and watch series.

Boom, surprise birthday party! How do they react to surprises? She would smile, pretend she's grateful for a total of five minutes and then hide in the bathroom to mentally prepare herself to be the center of attention until the party ends. After that, she'd probably relax and be okay.

Do they like to wear jewelry? She has her grandma Daphne's silver rings. She never goes anywhere without them; they're her lucky charm :')

Do they have neat or messy handwriting? Her handwriting was pretty neat in school, but now it's just a mess.

What are two emotions they feel the most? Inadequate and tired, as if she's trying to catch up with everyone's expectations.

Do they have a favorite fabric? Leather 😳. Not for anything special, but because it's the fabric where cat hair sticks the least.

I'm new to Tumblr. I came here to find comics now that I'm boycotting Instagram and I've heard a lot of good things about your arofam comics. I just can't figure out where to read them in chronological order. Do you have a master post somewhere or a link to the first chapter?

first off, i'm honored to know people not only like my au, but recommend it to others!

secondly, i think i need to explain arofam and it's comics in more detail

cause while it has comics involving lots of aspects of it's plot, it's not one complete comic, arofam is an au that contains writings, art, fanart, and comics

it is an amalgamation of multiple works then just being one singular linear comic.

so i can't exactly direct you to a first chapter, because the au kinda doesn't "have" a first chapter

It also doesn't have a master post, only because if i tried to master post everything i've made about this au, it would be a LONG master post.

A guide for the au is in the works however.

So while i can't direct you to what you are asking for, the plus side here is i have other ways to do so.

Now, everything in the au is tagged under it's name, which helps it better in searches, but on top of that, i now co own the au's archive blog : @areverseoffeathersandmud-archive

Well, thank you for the advice! For the record, I in fact do not answer every ask I'm sent; if they're repetitive, weird, or I can't think of anything interesting to say I delete them. Though I don't do that with many! In general, every ask I answer has something different with each one that I want to address.

Screenshotting is nice, but my Canary Tumblr theme makes it a little garish. Sometimes I'll do it but usually I'll just answer the one that addresses whatever question the others do. Which is also why I tag things with characters and other words, so people can look through them later.

Uh oh, I got into Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss

And I got thoughts! A LOT of thoughts, so sorry! Putting them under a cut because of a long post, and spoilers.

So, what exactly happens to a soul when they're in Hell and they're exterminated? Did they ever elaborate on that or do they just cease to exist when they're exterminated? What if they're reincarnated into a new hellborn or even brought back to Earth as a human for a...*le gasp* second chance?! I hope that can be further explored. Seems like that might just be the answer. Using Earth for their "rehabilitation". But I'm sure that'll get messy, if not already. *shrug*

I really, REALLY don't want that fuckboy Adam to be redeemed. He was a rather basic antagonist and I hated every moment he was on screen. I doubt it'll be that easy to sway him. If we do see him in Hell, he'll probably just go along with redemption so he can get back his place in Heaven. Eh, we'll see what happens when we get season 2.

I really hope we see more of Sir Pentious, I have a feeling he will play a big role, especially since he earned his place in Heaven. Maybe he can interact with Emily and further their agenda on giving second chances to the damned.

If Adam does show up in Hell, and Lilith makes her way back after this long, then I'm sure there will be a lot of tension and lore dumping. Hopefully.

I saw a quick glance at a post that pointed out the problem of Vaggie existing only to support Charlie's dream and nothing more. It is a fair observation so I hope we see more of Vaggie coming into her own as a person instead of being just Charlie's girlfriend.

I didn't realize Angel had siblings until I started browsing the tags, so maybe they'll make an appearance soon? Would be interesting to see how they interact with one another.

Something tells me that Lilith (or even Eve) and Alastor have something going on. Nothing sexual of course, but they happen to disappear around the same time. I don't think we'll get answers right away, but if all we get are foreshadowing breadcrumbs then so be it.

I feel like Charlie's dream of rehabilitating souls to get them into heaven is a weak premise. I also saw the pilot and even in that, the foundation was shaky at best. I'm glad it got polished up by the time of episode 1 and by the end of season 1, we know that Charlie fiercely loves her people and don't want them to suffer anymore than they should. The methods for trying to alleviate the suffering could be worked on. Perhaps that will be explored more in season 2.

I guess this is probably the angels' bias (or rather, Adam's and the exterminators'), but is there really a threat to Heaven's position? Lilith probably didn't help when she ruled, but why would Lute go to her to try to get Charlie in line? What kind of deal did Adam have with Lilith, if there was one? Is Lilith the one pulling the strings because she doesn't care about her people anymore? Is she bored with everything and hiding away as her world burns, leaving Charlie to clean up her messes? SO MANY QUESTIONS

Wait wait, crazy theory here, but what if Lilith and Eve are an item and Eve's life is on the line because of the angels? Does Alastor have anything to do with this? What if Lilith enlisted Alastor to keep an eye on Charlie, in the form of a deal? That doesn't explain why he would be away for 7 years... unless Lilith kidnapped and broke him and this is how Alastor is taking back control?

I don't have much to say on Helluva Boss yet, other than I enjoy it more than HH and Blitzø better make things right with Stolas if he wants to keep using his book (and have a better, loving relationship with him).

Where do you think these overwhelming rates sexual violence towards lesbians originates? surface level masculinity? baseline homophobia? is that why it's ok to say "men" are doing this, despite that including trans masc folk? and if it's homophobia, then how come cishet women aren't really seen doing it?

if you include trans mascs in your definition of "men" you're implying trans mascs are just as big of rapists/ threats to lesbians as cis men, which is blatantly false statistically. trans mascs are actually at a significantly higher risk of receiving sexual violence than both cis men and trans women. I'm happy to link that source-- only if you genuinely want to engage, this is already getting too long for an ask.

so, i have a confession. when i first watched hotd, i didn't care for aegon ii because he seemed so gross and unlikeable. but then i started seeing this tag 'aegon ii is not a rapist' everywhere on ao3 along with 'tom glynn carney's aegon', and after a while i decided to try and figure out why these tags started showing up so often.

i don't remember how exactly i stumbled across your fic but it was probably though browsing someone's bookmarks. in any case, i'm sooo glad i found it because you and scalyfreaks have truly done a service in creating such a compelling case for aegon ii as a character, as opposed to the shallow first impression the show gave us ... and low-key the book as well.

now, i completely understand those tags and why people see the merit in this character! ever since i read your fic, i've sought out meta from others who would've liked to see more nuanced takes. if nothing else, i'm hoping i can come back here if the show doesn't give aegon ii something else to be other than cartoonishly evil.

Honestly, I think a lot of people watched S1 and didn't care for Aegon, because the showrunners went out of their way to make him unlikeable. It didn't make him very popular with most of the fandom, but some of us took that as a challenge. My thought process was something like "Oh, you guys want me to hate Aegon? You want me to hate Tom Glynn Carney's big sad eyes? Well, too bad. He's mine now."

It's really an honor to be mentioned in the same breath as Scalyfreaks, because they feel like an Aegon/OC celebrity to me. Back when I first started writing Ashes and Stardust in Autumn 2022, Burning Jasmine was THE Aegon fic. They're the one who came up with the "tom glynn carney's aegon" tag, and I love that it's given us a space where we can engage with the pathos that TGC brought to the role without necessarily including all of the show's Mushroom-isms.

The best thing about writing in an AU space is that I can pick and choose the bits I like and leave out all the bits that I don't. If Season 2 does a terrible job with Aegon's character, I'll be right here doing my part to fix it.

hey! this is a blog dedicated to archiving character interactions in the ryu ga gotoku series. ideally, this can be a resource for anyone looking to find particular exchanges or checking characterization. the focus will be on non-cutscene interactions, but some cutscenes may be included. my hope is that i can begin with major characters (i.e. kiryu and haruka) and branch out to minor characters (i.e. pocket circuit fighter)

DETAILS:

1. posts will be tagged with names of the characters involved and the game(s) the screenshot(s)/video(s) originate from.

if the relationships are particularly frequent/prominent, then i may have a tag like "kiryu and date" for their interactions specifically.

if you're looking for something, check the featured tags.

if you still can't find something, feel free to reach out to me, and i'll see what i can do.

if there is a common merged name for that dynamic (i.e. a ship name, though some people use these to refer to a dynamic generally), then it's likely i'll include that as well, regardless of whether the content is romantic or my feelings on that pairing, so that people can find what they're looking for more easily. if i make exceptions, it will be in extreme instances, and i reserve judgement on those. please don't ride my ass for this, i don't want to have to block you. this is for everyone. play nice.

3. submissions will be accepted for all games under the rgg banner, but i will likely be unable to fulfill requests for games i haven't played/don't have access to.

6. i'm open to suggestions on organization or content, especially right now, since the blog is very fresh. it's a community resource, and it exists for us.

7. there will likely be a delay on new games, and i don't know how quickly i will put out content.

9. some characters/dynamics may be difficult to tag. in such cases, i'll try to come up with a system for:

types of characters (i.e. "hostess: rina" or "hostess: yuki")

or groups (i.e. "morning glory orphans", "ichigang", "shinsengumi", "majima construction")

if there's nothing else, i'll likely put the game if it's a one-off character (i.e. "mayumi (yakuza 5)")

this might be a bit shaky, but i'll try to make it all very clear and send out updates if/when i change things.

10. i might end up tagging certain things "archive: x" so i don't clog up popular tags (i.e. "archive: kazumaji"), but we'll see.

11. some posts may require threads. i will tag the final posts in these "🧵" to indicate it is the final version, and i will edit the top of the chain with a link to its finished version for user convenience.

my hope is that this'll make it easier to find the full post without having to dig through reblogs, especially if the post gets popular (because people may not reblog the whole thing, and may reblog an earlier version without the link. which is totally fine btw).

if a post gets popular, i may add another tag called "popular", to make it easier to search for these posts specifically. search for this along with 🧵 or character(s) and game(s) for the best results finding older, popular posts.

12. various other infrastructure tags:

"text only" for pure transcriptions (i.e. transcribing a cutscene, no screenshots)

"screenshot" for posts that have images (these will include alt ID transcriptions, but "text only" is intended for screen reader use. i do not use screen readers myself, so if there's anything i can do to improve that experience, i would love to know)

"video" for posts with videos, which will have transcriptions under a readmore (and will likely have text only transcriptions, which i'll try to link to such posts)

"cinematic"" if the content is from a fully animated cinematic (i.e. ones you can rewatch from the menu)

"cutscene" for those scenes that are mandatory to progress the plot and often happen between cinematics, but are posed in the typical dialogue format (i.e. scrolling text in boxes)

"overworld" for dialogue that occurs in other circumstances (i.e. speaking to an npc, substory dialogue)

"objective" for objectives located on the pause menu, which are characterized as the player character's inner monologue

"substory" for content from substories (these will likely also separately be tagged "substory #: title"). if they are from a particular minigame's line of substories, i'll tag them something like "mesuking" to distinguish them

"maps" for maps

"menus" for store inventory and bar/restaurant menus

"location ref" for references of particular locations, especially interiors (i.e. tojo HQ)

"location: x" for various locations, i.e. serena, purgatory, prison, restaurants, etc

"inventory" for items (corresponding to the game's classification of them)

"equipment" for weapons and armor (corresponding to the game's classification of them)

"abilities" for ability descriptions, categories, users, and costs

"messages" for emails, pager messages, etc (excluding phone calls, which have their own tag)

"phone calls" for phone calls, both cutscene and overworld

"misc" for other stuff, in case you're having trouble

I've been thinking about this lately, the fraught tension of the discourse around the Jedi, how contentious it can sometimes get, how I know I'm not always the most patient I could be, and sometimes I regret that. But other times I don't. Because there are times I feel like I'm screaming into the void about how, every single day, there is some new bad faith response on one of my posts, some new unsettlingly "hyper invested in a stranger on the internet's opinions about made up space wizards" comment in the tags I browse, and that I'm just really exhausted at feeling like it's always up to Jedi fans to be saints, but if we show the slightest bit of snapping at yet another person putting a bad faith take on our posts, oh, we just ~can't handle anyone not babying our faves~. And honestly I don't know where to go from here, because I do enjoy good faith discussion, but I'm also just so worn out of five years of this, never knowing when someone is being reasonable or when they're going to blow up on me, never knowing when a comment is serious or a joke, the lack of structure of discussions, are we talking on a Doylist level or a Watsonian one?, etc. Five years of playing defense against people coming into the space I've created for myself, I don't know how much I can really even contribute to the discourse anymore, because it's just been so many times piled on so many times that this has happened. And the majority of the time they're pretty mild, but after a certain point you're just tired of having the same thing thrown at you, so you play defense and try to cut things off at the pass, try to predict the nonsense comments you're going to get, and that becomes woven into your meta, rather than being able to relax and just talk about what you want in the way you want. I'm not upset about this so much as just kind of navel-gazing and I do kind of loathe some of the behavior of fandom, as well as I wanted to talk about why some of us may seem pretty prickly and I hope that I can project that, yeah, I have my scraped raw nerve points in some places, but that I'm working to let go of it, and if you wonder why I've checked out from a lot of these conversations, that's why. There's little to be gained by it, I've thought about these topics for five years, I've given it all a ton of critical thought, and I'm settled where I'm settled. I'm exhausted, so I'm just going to be over here, in my own corner, trying to turn back to the things I love talking about, because that's the kind of corner of fandom I want. That seems like such a downer answer for a sweet ask, apologies!  I’m just annoyed at fandom today (what else is new) and wanted to go, you know, there’s a reason some of us seem like we’re in a bad mood at times. That said, the kind comments are appreciated and I will endeavor to get back to being more fun about Star Wars and the psychic space wizards even more than I already am.  (To be fair, I shitpost a good amount, too, okay.  XD)

hello! I was the anon ask you received yesterday, and i wanted to send it to you off anon if that helps with resolving the issue properly and clarifying a few things. again, i stress that there is nothing wrong with facing the facts—i knew lithuania was going to win most likely because he's european, white and therefore more popular. what i meant was just how you referred to the other poc countries—i didn't have an issue until you used the word "sacrifices." i understand it may have seemed like a harmless joke and as if i am being overly sensitive over a small word, but it was hurtful—both to me and other poc friends who saw the post—because it seemed to perhaps confirm an unconscious thought by the fandom, which is that we exist as accessories to the popular characters and that we don't have much agency out of them...

for context, i remember browsing through the aph south korea tag to find the round 2 poll, and after voting for that round i looked at the reblogs to see what people had to say out of curiosity, after which i had seen the tag of your reblog. as a south korean and a poc it really stuck with me and felt like an unconscious admission: that pocs will always be unpopular, yet people seem to pretend that both are on an equal status

the small things that you can brush off your mind stick with us, because it relates to us and how we are seen in this fandom. but whenever we, the minority, voice these concerns, it usually ends with our voices being dismissed as "not being able to have fun and enjoy the fandom" or "raining on the parade."

i don't want to assume that the final post about how fandom must be treated was a vaguepost about the ask, but simple things such as "just have fun and don't be a party pooper" is on the similar vein as "they're just characters" or "hetalia is just an anime." now, this wouldn't be an issue if hetalia wasn't an anime about countries(meaning there is history and politics)! and so a lot of pocs struggle to have fun in the sense that you do because even though exclusion isn't upfront and obvious, it's all in the little things.

i don't wish to accuse or say that this is how you think of us, but rather a reminder. no matter how influential you are as a blog, being a small or big blog is not an obstacle to stepping back and seeing if what you do or say is inclusive to everyone!

I’m sorry for how brash I am about anonymous messages, I’ve just been in online fandom spaces since 2006 and have been sent a lot of bait that reads as well-intended, and seen it get muddled and ugly within hours. I know that messaging someone like this can be intimidating so I hope my response reassures you that this is an okay and good way to go about things that have hurt you, regardless of who did it.

I agree actually, that my wording was not good. Ideally, someone who knows me would have said something by now but it's possible those are the people who know what I meant and let it slide bcs of that. I used excitable text about it, but the thought process was actually that I didn’t think the lineup was fair for a first round, and that the act of seeding a character we know damn well is popular among horny bloggers being lined up with notably less popular characters I very rarely see people going ham for. Did I say that? No lmao, that point was left to the wind and this was the result.

You are correct to not assume the fandom and fun post was related to my responses to the anon, it 100% was not. I had moved on by then and was thinking about how my favorite rarepairs now have people talking about them and telling me it's because I made it look fun or interesting. Back In My Day and frankly what I’m used to, it’s fandom that’s broken into little groups that talk about a character/ship/trope most often, while also branching out now and then into larger fandom when they catch an event the other group is doing. I do stand by the fact you have to make your own corner of this fandom, not just to convince anyone but because that’s what is going to make it worth participating in the first place.

This is a different topic than fans of color pointing out that the largest groups are for white m/m ships and made up of mainly white fans, and what that comes with in the larger scheme of things. I have 0 intention of speaking over that, which is why I make and share a lot of posts about fandom positivity, and roping your friends into a good time, while also sharing posts from fans of color outlining the problems they face in fandom.

TL,DR; If I do something shitty, anyone can pull me aside and say “hey dude, that sucked” and I will listen if they want to go into further detail. This has happened plenty of times already and will happen plenty more, does not hurt my feelings. I also do not trust anons to do this or actually care about the outcome. I’m curious, how did you come up with Xiao/Albedo? they’re normally quite confined to their own regions story and lore-wise so I’m wondering how you thought to put them together 😄

Well, you see, last year, Albedo was my first banner character. He's been with me since. A month later, Xiao joined the team. Even though my main bread was Diluc, I used Xiao too because I liked him bc he was cool. So in the end, my constants became Albedo and Xiao.

Now, staring at them every day made me realize that their designs pair up so well. Cool! But then I also realized that their theme, their story, kinda complemented each other. The classic explanation would be that; Albedo's theme revolves around life and creation despite being what can be classified as a being "created through sinful means" (at the time, the Gold-is-related-to-Albedo speculation was only just a theory but you bet it made sense), while Xiao's revolved around death and destruction while being comparatively a divine being.

So I thought heyy they're kinda neat.

I wondered if people ship them because it was a really nice parallel. So I went ahead and browsed the tag on twit; didn't really see much. Just a handful. But tHEN I stepped into AO3 and I felt so validated because the even the earliest fics of the pair were so good I'm convinced I'm not the only one who sees their potential.

And now that they've got their respective character developments, it made me love them even more. I see them as individuals with astonishing parallels that's why I ship them!

It's true that they're confined to their respective nations, and they'll probably never meet, but I have a little bit of hope. No one expected Itto and Xiao to meet, nor for Klee and Yoimiya, Childe and Xinyan to become friends. I would've thought they wouldn't wanna deal with each other, but given their recent character development of opening up to others and learning how to trust others (which, for me, was another wonderful parallel), I don't think I'd stay too pessimistic about it. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but it's a nice thing to think about either way, and we could all use some nice things these days.

Hi Anon! I sympathize completely.

I think your best bet is to tweak the tags on Archive of our Own. Start with incest and then exclude things you don't want from there, especially the higher ratings. You can limit to original fiction or no fandom, or browse for approachable fandom works. But maybe you've done that already.

I think a lot of people are writing incest but aren't sharing it, either because they hope to publish it someday but don't feel like they can right now because of the way the wind is blowing, or because they already have a following and they're worried about alienating people. I'm not judging anyone for that, those are really good reasons.

But yeah, smut is king when it comes to incest and a lot of the stories aren't love stories, just sex. I really hope we can all encourage each other in our writing and that someday we'll see more variety.
