Gonna try as be as concise with this post as I can, since I’m sure you guys know by now that I… can talk way too much about the PPG. 🤣 I had heard about the Powerpuff Girls live action leaked script, but I never took the time to read it for myself. People sent me screencaps of different sections and gave me a summary of what happened, but from all of that, I thought it didn’t sound very good, so I didn’t want to assault my senses with the full thing. A few days ago, the PDF of the script popped up on Tumblr for me as a recommended post, so I thought I should take a deep breath and finally take the plunge.

I’m surprised to report that after FINALLY reading it… I didn’t entirely hate it. Is the writing bad? Yes. Are there way too many pop culture jokes? Yes. Do they make the mistake of giving all the girls ice powers when it’s pretty established canon that Blossom’s the only one with that? YES, and that’s really aggravating. You get glimmers that the writers have seen the show, and kind of get the characters, but only to a certain point that borders on superficial.

However, there’re a lot of cool ideas in the script. I kept reading it thinking, “Ohhh, that’s a cool idea, but I wish they did it [insert different way here].” I even went, “Awww!” at a couple points. Yes. I was weirded out. I liked some of the character interpretations (I’m like 75% on board with Blossom’s character, liked Buttercup and Bubbles’ sisterly chemistry, strangely love the weird take of crazy stardom obsessed Bubbles 😂 and her relationship with the Prof, among many other things!), but I was super thrown off by the pointless (and honestly, unfunny and baffling) “adult” humor and pop culture jokes. Those made NO sense. Like Craig McCracken has said in the past, you don’t mix the girls in with whatever’s like hot or trendy, they’re supposed to be evergreen. Despite this type of humor sucking, it makes me sad to hear that the network interpreted the fans’ response as hating any humor, and are changing it to go into a “serious” direction. I think all it needs is some good original humor not so dependent on references to things (maybe even a healthy dose of puns). PPG usually has a good mix of serious fighting and goofy hijinks, and you could totally do that with a live action series. The characters are fun and funny and it would be fun to keep them that way, just… creatively!

There’s also some OOCness that’s just unforgivable. Of course, you need these characters to have flaws that they’ll overcome throughout the run of the show, but some of the additions were weird, like they didn’t track for who some of the characters are at their core. There was one that I thought was interesting but had lousy execution, and that was the Professor being a greedy stage dad kind of character. It made me sad, but the idea of our usually sweet Professor being secretly evil or doing some shady things on the side WAS kind of intriguing. If they were gonna do that, I would have made it a slow build up to like a season finale, like, “…wait, the good dad licensed his kids out of the money instead of for the good of the town?! Evil all along?!” or something like that. Maybe he was forced into it and went against his own moral code. Could it even have been an avenue to introduce Him? Was he puppeteering the Prof all along?! I dunno. But the way they wrote the Prof how they did just made it seem like they had no clue what they were doing, or who his character is even at a basic level.

I think a lot of the ideas presented (childhood stardom, the struggles of adulthood, privacy, the real world repercussions of fighting, mental health, etc.) are really super intriguing, and my mind is like REELING with a lot of potential that seems wasted and lost. The girls have established personality flaws that they could really build off more from (Blossom with perfectionism and pride, Buttercup with anger and jealousy, Bubbles with sensitivity and naïveté) and in a more meaningful way. Same with the villains, like… some of them are more complex than a casual viewer would think, and it would be cool to see that complexity fleshed out even more.

One thing I would really want them to do is to try to, like… distance the show as much as possible from the original canon cartoon. PPGZ is a good example of successfully creating a PPG-esque show for a specific market and demographic that keeps the spirit of the original show and the general designs while making it CLEAR that it’s its own thing. After what happened with PPG 2016, it might have made fans skittish that this live-action show is meant to somehow “fix” things, or continue the cartoon’s official storyline. It shouldn’t. This needs to be, like, more clearly an alternate universe. Don’t even have the cartoon in it as a gag (I’d say the least I’d put in are the cartoon designs of the girls as like… in-world merch mascots or something, and even then I’m hesitant). If you look at this show as a separate entity that’s only based off the original characters, it might feel a little more palatable. …maybe. 😆

Anyway, I could write SO much more, but that’s… my general take on it. Not great, but not as much of a dumpster fire as I was expecting. I dunno if I’m confident that they’ve been making any meaningful changes to the script. Realistically, at the end of the day, they’re probably viewing it as a way to push merch and make money rather than setting out to do a live action PPG series justice. That’s okay. It is what it is. If they DO want to make it good though, I think at the very least it just needs more thought put into it and to be scrubbed clean of all those garbage pop culture jokes. We���ll see what happens though, but I did at least detect some potential hiding in there. Now if it builds on the potential… that remains to be seen. 🙃

they’ve been racing together since pol was 10 and marc was 8…. (marc never beating the he likes older guys allegations) they were teammates for a short time but nothing major really happened from the way pol spoke about that period so…. (marc totally had a crush on him tho)

my fav thing is when marc mentioned his parents used to bring a lot of food during race day and they would invite other families to eat with them, one of them being the espargaros. anyway mama roser i knew u were trying to matchmake them……

after they just kinda went separate ways….. and then met again in 125cc in 2008…. started dating in 2010 some fun battles. and then BAM moto2 2012…. marc marquez criminal era. a lot of fun battles. one time marc pushed pol wide. pol crashed. marc won. marc was penalized. his team appealed. marc got his win back. pol’s team appealed. unsuccessful. (marc voodoo was crazy).

lot of on track battles and tensions and pol was trying not to throttle marc meanwhile marc just giggled his way through everything (aka the usual marc marquez rival experience™️). pol tried to break up every race week but marc refused so they were in limbo.

then marc went to motogp (they broke up bc marc can’t shut up about vale and hung up on vale and pol was just sick of it) and pol followed the next year but they never really interacted. but then… pol went to ktm and suddenly more interactions ANYWAY kissy emojis from marc..

and then bam teammates era! we started this era by pol dropping the most insane quote:

AND pol suddenly became marc’s #1 fan he keeps bringing marc up in EVERYTHING. pol get through an interview without mentioning marc! (failed). in a world where everyone believed being marc’s teammate means a death sentence he WANTED it!! (he was giving nico rosberg post retirement can’t stop praising lewis and all)

when marc got injured in 2022, pol was like “i miss him, the team needs him, i need him.” crazy days !!!

also find it interesting that marc was so fixated on pol not coming over to wish him luck for his surgery you know it drove him crazy 😭 pol lives rent free in his head… meanwhile pol sent his brother bc he was trying to act cool around marc

I am very confused but intrigued

I’m gonna let you in on a little secret nonny, follow me. *takes you by the hand and leads you through many well lit corridors, ending with a final door. It is simple, but welcoming, already propped open for you.*

This is where the magic happens. *you step into a room. It is brightly lit, and filled with animate conversation. However, neither George nor Lance is anywhere to be found*

What’s this, you say. I thought you were gonna show me the appeal of glance. *I nod, cryptically*

I am. *as we walk around the room you begin to notice a large group forming around one corner. As we walk by, a massive cheer goes up, turning everybody’s heads*

What was that, you ask.

They did a thing, I say, grinning. We’ll come back once you’ve finished your tour. *we walk around the room in companionable silence, a few eyes on us, watching me, watching you.*

Do you get it now?

It’s just a bunch of people in a room, you say, confused. I wanted the appeal. Tell me about their history, their canon events. Do they even interact at all?

Oh that doesn’t matter, I say with a smile. It’s all about the people. The community. We built this place for ourselves, for our stories. So that we could share them with each other, and you. That’s the appeal. Glance is whatever you want to make of it.

Ok but listen up. They do have history. The raced together all the time as kids. They have a rivalry. They were somehow always around each other. They share a birth year. They never talk to each other anymore. Doesn’t it make you curious? Don’t you wonder what happened? What’s going on?

That’s the beauty of glance, how little we know about them. We don’t know their full history, but we know enough to be compelled. The rest is all guesswork babeyy, and it’s FUN. (I’m sure there are people out there who could give you a better idea of their history, but that’s not me. I’m not the historian, I’m the propaganda department).

Their capacity for rivals to lovers is unMATCHED. One sided hatred, one sided rivalries. They are opposites. They are the same. Uptight vs laidback. Cares sooooooo much vs doesn’t give a shit. It shouldn’t work but it DOES.

They are both insane, but in different ways. Insane4Insane. It’s about balance.

Shall we peruse the bookshelf? When I got here we only had one (maybe two) pages on ao3. Now we’re at five and counting (let’s go squad!). List is obviously abridged and also woefully incomplete. I'm thinking about wwx who uses resentful energy in her fertility work, and lwj who uses like purity rituals and stuff in her fertility work, and thinking about them meeting at a medical conference where they're both lecturing

thinking about lil baby a yuan in the conference daycare, and lwj falling Fast cause there is Literally No Other Way for lwj to fall thinking about them

I'm thinking about yanli and her hubby ended up with Yiling Fertility. I'm thinking that they were having lots of trouble conceiving because despite how Prevalent his father was, jin zixuan is practically completely infertile. thinking about them going to lwj and it not working even after they've gone through 3 rounds of 'pure 'Purely cultivated' ivf, and then yanli sitting up one night crying about never being able to have a child because 'a xuan i'm getting older'

thinking about zixuan going Right. thinking about him down wwx because he'd heard something through a grapevine, and booking an appointment with just him first and being all 'i know a li's family have been awful to you - your family - but professionally, do you think you could treat her? us? we really want a child, and we've been to the lan clinic for three rounds

so wwx is like 👀 👀 👀 'how is shijie? or, well, Jiang Yanli? or does she— is it Jin now? How, how is your wife?" and jzx is just, not horrified, he'd known how badly the jiangs had imploded but he hadn't known you know? And he's like 'call her Yanli, at least for now. And yes, it's Jin privately but she keeps Jiang professionally' (idk if they do that in china?! but for now at least they do) and wwx is nodding and nodding and then wen ning opens the door "can i get you tea? coffee? boss?" and wwx is like "coffee please, a ning. Jin Zixuan, I'll be five minutes, you can tell A ning what you'd like to drink." and darts from the room, running into the loos and having a controlled 3 min breakdown, washing her face, reaplying her makeup and returning to her office, controlled, in charge, The Boss ™️

thinking about how they make plans to bring Yanli in for a check up, scheduling things and wwx opens a file for them, taking notes etc. [the fic part that ive published]

thinking about JZX saying 'if you need our notes from the Lans—" and WWX is like Absolutely not we do things my way, but secretly like ooo lan zhan cause WHEN IS SHE NOT.

thinking about wwx choosing not to contact the Lan clinic because she knows she'll only get condemnation there and they likely will not pass on their records, and although she's always liked lan zhan, if wen qing taught her anything it was self preservation

anyway thinking thoughts about maybe a lz pov for another chapter...

First Intro Post!

(Okay I feel like I’ll do a couple of these intro posts since I’m kinda all over the place atm and very frazzled- just got back from a three-week vacation.💀 I’ll do a proper intro post later, but rn I just wanna talk about my new oc!)

So I just learned of Picrew a couple days ago and have been messing around on it since. I found this character editor by @elena-illustration this and am obsessed! This is the closest I have gotten to what I think my oc actually looks like. His vibe is sad Greek statue (downturned features, olive skin, curly dark brown hair, strong jawline, with a Grecian nose) with central heterochromia (green-to-gray) and sanpaku eyes).

Can I start a list/chain/share (whatever it’s called?) of your oc’s/Whumpee’s?! I’d love to see what other people’s whumpees look like!

Greek God glory

After a fight, under the ownership of Whumper 1 (Frederik Finnegan, Fred for short).

OC overview: SX-B2217 (Seventeen/Seven for short) is a mysterious human/alien hybrid genetic experiment sold off to a WRU-type facility for a heafty price tag. Seven’s batch was created in The Lab™️ and grown in artificial wombs, then transferred to maturation chambers which accelerated their natural grown rates. These subjects were used for top secret experimentation and were not intended to ever be seen (or used) by the public.

But, (there’s always a ‘but’ isn’t there?) one of The Lab™️ workers made a backdoor deal with a WRU-adjacent facility since The Lab™️ needed funding and the facility was willing to dish out a substantial amount of money for these experimentations called “drones” (may change this name later on?) Drones were created and altered to be quiet, tolerant, docile, and malleable- an accidental perfect pet, but an intentional ideal lab rat. Drones listen to higher authority figures and have little to no sense of bodily autonomy. They are considered to be property though-and-though because they were never a “person beforehand,” do not have friends or families, were created from raw material for specific purposes in a laboratory, and don’t even have names other than their identification codes.

Additional to being a drone, SX-B2217 possesses some strange, mostly invisible abilities that he keeps hidden from Lab™️ and facility workers. However, when shopping for his first pet, Whumper 1 (Fred) picks Seven out of a line-up of freshly shipped in drones because he can sense a great power within Seven that Fred believes he can use to his advantage. Seven is a spooky boi and often seems to be in some sort of trance and can sleep with his eyes open. He’s mute, but seems to be able to subtly communicate non-verbally and react to things before they happen. Over their years together, Fred notices many unusual things about Seven that he can’t quite explain but keeps to himself. Fred is both intrigued and scared of Seven, but they develop a mutual understanding.

Inspired by his family’s famed prize-winning race horses and his love for boxing, Fred buys Seven to use for fighting as he starts an underground pet-fighting ring where people place bets on fights for outrageous sums of money. After several months of training, Seven becomes the best fighter, is ultimately unbeatable, and quickly becomes Fred’s pride and joy and his #1 cash cow. Because of this, Fred does not treat Seven like a “normal pet” which causes issues with other owners/Whumpers. Fred and Seven have a very strange dynamic that will be explored in flashbacks as I begin writing this series because it actually takes place when Caretaker rescued Seven from Whumper 2!

*This was just a background snippet, I will be sharing more down the road, I just wanted to give a little backstory to Seven’s portrait!

P.S. I’m brand new to whump and sharing this was terrifying!

alright so i am having Thoughts™️ about that prompt that's like "dare you to publish something insanely kinky and depraved by Thursday so Americans can have something to read while distracting themselves from the horrors of their extended family" and

I am curious what your overall thoughts on Game of Thrones are if you finished the book (or just si far if you haven't). I had a Lot of Thoughts about the last third or so

Yes, I finished! I really enjoyed AGOT and it was a pleasure to see just how closely season 1 of the show stuck to the book. There are some aspects that did not age well at all (the rampant orientalism) but I love all of the political intrigue and court politics even if it’s a little hard to grasp at first (there are. So many houses. And they are all interconnected). I love how GRRM takes classic fantasy aspects and turns them on their heads (the classic good guys always win, knights as agents of chivalry and Goodness™️, etc). And he’s saying Something about second sons that I haven’t figured out yet (the way Sam isn’t technically a second son but is cast in that role bc he fails to fulfill first born son roles)

Love Sansa and Arya’s relationship. It reminds me a lot of my own with my little sister when we were younger. Looove Catelyn and Dany as well. Can’t wait to learn more of Cersei and her girlfailureism
