2023 art review!

Even if this year wasn't the biggest on art, due to my physical condition (especially in last couple of months), it would still be nice to look back on what i did as an artist throughout it!

This is gonna be a fun ride...

So, let's dive straight into it, shall we?

Continuation under the cut

January

2023 started on a high note, with me just having finished the King piece, and moving on to the next big thing, being an AvA3/5 double piece.

Sadly, during the process i messed up big time which led to me being unable to finish the piece the way i wanted to, rendering this project an eternal WIP. However, i still cherish the idea and do wish to either redraw, or complete it.

February

Doing 2 big projects one after another did end up affecting my overall drive, so i spent majority of that month just making sketches.

First one is a little redraw/redesign of my old character - Derek, whom i used for a roleplay with my friends like 3 or 4 years ago, and second one is Deach, a character from my fantasy setting.

Also, back then i joined a new fandom, people in which have reminded me of my admiration for SCP, after which me and my friends proceeded to make OCs for it. Was a fun time! (Also this access card was sold by me as a YCH, sadly i couldn't really find buyers, so yikes)

March

By march is slowly started recovering from january's disappointement and was a bit more productive already. One of my friends really helped with it too.

A musician friend of mine reached out to me, asking to develop a design for a villain character in the plot he was working on. After listening to the theme song i couldn't resist. This ended up being one of my favorite designs so far, and i adore its look in neon.

In the meantime, i kept working on my fantasy setting, refining more minor details of designs and stories, yet having to reserve only to making sketches as i was too busy with college and other projects. Characters you see on screen are Ian and Lanfor respectfully. One is a strong yet troubled mage and other is a great Emperor, and even better person.

April

I'd say april was one of the most productive months of this year, mostly because i managed to snatch some time for myself and my setting, which allowed me to complete two full pieces and achieve some extreme progress with my story.

This piece is an illustration to a scene i wrote for two of the characters, Lanfor and Emile, called "Night Visitor". This was a scene of a reunion of two old friends. A bittersweet, yet a lovely work. Love both the written one as well as the illustration.

This one was more of a... Proof of concept. Needed to test out the expresiveness of the design for one or a relatively new characters - Covlar. Was originally a simple sketch on paper, but i couldn't resist the urge of making it into a complete illustration. I then proceeded to make a few notes for this scene. Both want to write it properly and avoid it at all cost... Best to avoid it, for my own sanity.

May

May was a bit of trainwreck, because i got a brand new laptop, which took me quite some time to get used to and even more time to reassure myself that it is in fact alright for me to draw on this suspicioiusly thin piece of tech.

Ironically enough, the only vomplete piece i drew that month was drawn on my old laptop. This screenshot redraw was to made to honour the premiere of AvA6 ep.1. Sadly, i did it a bit late because fo technical issues, but i still had a ton of fun doing it.

June

June was... Chaotic, to say the least. Mostly because i finally got comfortable with the new laptop and could now draw a lot more freely due to it being a lot more compact than the original one, which worked almost like a PC. Besides, i got a ton more free time because semester finals ended up being a breeze.

Ended up making a ton sketches and doodles, that i didn't actually plan to finish, but still enjoyed a ton. Here are some of them

Then, ofc, the memes and the gand redesign, because AvA6 just had to break all of my portrayals. But, i mean, after AvM s3 my original designs did become a bit dated.

The biggest pride and saddest of failures was this picnic piece, however. I still plan on finishing it, but it is hard doing so, when i have changed quite a bit of my artstyle by now.

July

July was quite lazy. Semester ended and i spent that entire month out of the city. It was a great time, very peaceul indeed.

And again, that musician friend from before came into clutch, asking me to develop another design for his other project. And again a villain. He said he really liked how i draw bastard type of characters.

August

Well this is where fun began. End of summer break means i have just this much time to actually draw something i would never have time to draw normally.

For me to draw something to commemorate a new episode is almost like a tradition at this point. And, given how long it's been since i made anything that would require effort, no wonder i have chosen arguably the most complex piece to pull off energy-wise. Yet i did and now i simply adore this piece, even if it did render me disabled. (I crunched through all of this piece, pulling off 40+ hours of work in just 4 days, so naturaly it ended up worsening my condition by a lot)

Then i also proceeded to do all of these tiny side projects, like Victim ask, which i couldn't last long at due to my condition, and working on a design for my favourite streamer. (Which i cannot show as the work is not complete an it's best if i avoid spoilers)

September and October

These two months i spent being unable to draw at all via a doctor's advice. Arguably, these two were the hardest months for me to handle.

I assume you can imagine how hard it is to suddenly stop being able to do what you love, regardless of how much you wish to do it.

Novemer

*Nervous laughter* I... actually still wasn't allowed to use my hand, but that didn't stop me and i ended up making an entire series of sketches to celebrate AvA6 ep2.

I will admit, i still adore all of these sketches and each of them deserves to become a fully fledged piece in it's own right, but i really better keep them as they are. For my own safety.

December

As you way have expected, this month will stay without a single thing from me. It's not because i don't want to, but because i can't. And, given the circumstance, it better stay that way.

Afterword

I finally got my diagnosis and soon enough i will start active treatment for my condition. It would be a shame to make this worse than it already is with impulses like those that happened in november, so i am making this post as a way to draw a line for myself.

It is still kinda crazy to realize that there are quite a few people interested in what i make, so i will make sure to take my recovery as responcible as possible, and then come back to you with even more art in the upcoming year! Let's be positive about it.

{2022生2月} February Screenshots // Spirit & Strife Zine

I watched Advent Children 5 times between end 2021- beginning 2022 and practiced on his outfit before finally deciding to draw CC Cloud instead. I usually tackle full-bodies for zines, it was a pleasant change to paint a portrait for once~

These are wip-screenshots from both painting and standee I designed (I think they look really cool, I’m happy to share hehe)! This standee is the first piece of merchandise I ever made and it holds a very special place in my heart! Thank you very much for the opportunity ♥ !!

I am currently uploading the timelapse of the painting and I should get to uploading the standee BTS once my package arrives *crosses fingers!* I’ve been keeping for so long, but I’d love to have the entire experience of traditonal-to-digital-to-final_product in one video so I’ll hold for as long as it needs..! ☆ UPDATE FURTHER DOWN, the video is mADE!!

I don’t remember mentioning if I lost any work, but I will assume I lost a couple of hours (+2hrs of trying to restart my pc and make it work again 💀).. Gladly this time there was a very pleasant recovery file which I duplicated and feared every time I saved in PS //cries

Unfortunately file corruptions occur more often now, that's my signal that my poor pc needs an upgrade (who can afford one in this economy??? Prolong the lives of your machines, friends!). I'll live in fear and 5 backup files until I decide my hardware hates anything above 5000px+ files and I go smaller (which is not happening, sorry friend, we'll have to keep being fried a little longer.. hang in there..)

I have the habbit of working at least x2 bigger in file than what goes into print. First lesson learned was this is unnecessary in merch-making of small sizes (I actually worked x3~4 times bigger and it shows in the video why it was a bad idea //wheeze) especially since my lineart is very thin and it gets lost if shrinked. I’ve watched so many merch-making vlogs in the past years, print-test got drilled in my brain and forced myself to test it at least once (gotta be professional about it, right? ;3) It wasn’t too early on, but it was early enough to change the composition of the piece as it set realistic expectations to what would work out or not (the size was so important, I hadn’t realised it would shrink so much because I obviously read very well and was fully aware of the OG size provided by the lovely mods). From the original design to the final I made a lot of changes and I was too obsessed with the meteor to let go. I cut at least 5mins (already sped-up) of me trying to lineart it and failing miserably so I switched back to PS and did it there. I cannot watch my own timelapse anymore without feeling dread and bored lmao, my convolution makes my skin crawl, so meticulous.. If it’s interesting to anyone I’ll be happy, if not then I am not surprised, I am not either! It made a beautiful base regardless, so it was worth it~ On a final note, no I did not 100% forget what kind of idea I had for the flaming buster sword (the meteor was supposed to reflect-in-tiny over it) and completely ignored my initial sketch to polish something I wasn’t sure what it was. It works out in the end so we’re good ok.

If there’s one thing I am taking from working on this is; don’t experiment when merch-making, it will make your life so much easier to stick to a process but knowing myself this is not happening. It’s just not me lol //runs

I am in denial that the zine is finally wrapping up.. It’s been such a wonderful experience sharing the Cloud love between us (for ~7 months?? time flies ;;;;;;!!) //is emotional.. I am very grateful and honoured to be part of this wonderful project ♥ thank you everyone for your lovely company during this time ;; I will always hold our little chit-chats and cloud-love-sharing dearly in my heart. Mod team, you are STELLAR and I hope one day our roads cross again💫!! ---

I feel like it’s been a really long time since I’ve finished any creative projects, which isn’t completely true because I recently did a couple (very simple) Etsy orders and of course I did two cosplay projects within the last couple months...but also, the last time I posted a fic was July. since then I posted a excerpt for Grandthorki Day because I couldn’t get my act together enough to actually finish it, and a single Whumptober fill, planned as part of a slightly longer thing using two more Whumptober fills that I also haven’t finished. and aside from cosplay, I haven’t completed any personal non-writing projects in even longer.

and now, of course, I’m wondering if I’ve somehow just...lost the ability to finish things. that’s...maybe not a thing that can happen? I mean in theory I can still sit my ass down and make myself do whatever. but I seem to have even more of a mental block about it than I usually do, or something, which I guess goes along with my general feeling that my (mostly undiagnosed) ADHD has gotten worse lately. and it’s not entirely just that I don’t want to sit down and do the hard work of stitching together chunks I’ve already written and figuring out endings and whatever, it’s also true that there are other things I need and/or want to be doing and there’s a good reason I get stuck in decision-crisis mode so often (like, I finally signed up to write a few postcards to voters so I actually do need to do that, and I have less than three weeks to finish The Outer Worlds without spending more money on it, and it would be a good idea to get a few more things listed on Etsy for the holiday season, and I really need to get my PC upgraded), but I also...don’t want to, or can’t, or some mix of both.

it sucks. I miss finishing things. I want to be part of fandom more than this. (I want to not be forgotten.) my list of WIPs is constantly getting longer because I keep having new ideas--that I think I can dash off in one or two sittings, in most cases, and then I just don’t--and never finishing anything, but apparently that frustration isn’t enough to outweigh what I guess is executive dysfunction and how much I would, in practice, rather do other (easier) things. and I really don’t know what to do about it except hope my brain improves after I finally see a psychologist, which isn’t for at least another month.

...meanwhile I’m sitting here writing this in my bathrobe at 12:45 p.m. because I haven’t showered or even brushed my teeth yet and this is actually very typical for me on weekends, so obviously I’m getting a good start at using my time wisely, why am I such a fucking garbage fire

1. What’s the last book you read? What did you think of it?

The last book I read was Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. I loved that book. It was such an interesting story. Is it right to kill children for their parent’s sins? Should children try to kill you if you’re trying to kill them first? These are the moral challenges that most of the main characters face, and yet there is no good answer. Neither side is wrong in their justification, but that means the bloodshed will continue for even longer.

2. What’s the one word you always misspell even though you totally know how to spell it?

The word sword. Don’t ask me how, but somehow it always ends up as sworb.

3. What do your OCs smell like? If you could publish your WIP with scented pages, what would you want it to smell like?

I’ll choose my top three OCs because otherwise this post would be too large for anyone to understand what was happening. Daisy smells like the middle of a thunderstorm, soaked and yet full of potential. Adrian smells like peppermint and pine in sharp contrast with each other. Lulu smells like nothing, if you get close enough to her to actually be able to try and smell a scent, you won’t be able to smell anything. For my WIP, Lost would be the actual old book that’s just opened smell; Hidden Realms would be something sweet maybe cherry pie; Destined for War should smell like smoke, just that would be perfect; and Silence would be something woody, maybe pine like Adrian.

4. Your OC is given a pair of boots that mute the sound of their footsteps. What kind of shenanigans do they get into with these sweet new kicks?

Oh god. None of my current OCs are good enough people not to abuse this power. Adrian, Daisy, and the entire cast of Lost would use those to conquer the government and kill the queen, no question. Vivian would probably start running in whatever direction the fae weren’t in. Kairavi would start like 18 wars in under 24 hours, please don’t give her more power. She’s already started one war; I don’t need her to get ideas about more. Lulu might be the most controlled of all of them. She’d just prank her brother, granted that might lead to her brother murdering like an entire city.

5. How did you decide on the setting for your WIP?

What setting? All of my books have large amounts of scene changes. Lost is them trying to save the entire planet, which means they have to travel the whole world. Hidden Realms initially had a setting in what was once the outskirts of the Roman Empire, now Hungary, but then they ticked off the Church, so they fled to the Americas, but then they found out about an entirely new realm with dragons and went off to that realm. Silence is going to be in some woods somewhere, but I haven’t gotten far enough to figure that out. It starts in NYC. Destined for War starts in Pakistan, but ends in the realm of Gods that doesn’t currently have a name.

6. Your OCs are given a vast array of finger paints. What do they create?

I’ll do my top three again because this is already a super large post. Adrian would likely draw the winter palace and the family he left behind there. There would probably be tear marks on the page, he’ll deny them, but they’re there. Daisy would probably throw the paint on the page and create some abstract mess to call art. Lulu would spend hours making sure she got every detail of Octavian mapped out on canvas, again. She’s done this before. Like every time she has free time. Don’t worry about why she draws him on repeat. (author moves out of view)

7. How many times do you rewrite a draft? Or, how many drafts of a story do you go through before arriving at the final draft? Which story has/had the most drafts?

Gosh I don’t know. Lost is the only one I’ve finished the first draft for because I just started writing last year, so I’m planning on 7 drafts. I don’t know if I’ll keep that plan.

8. What’s your favorite line from your least favorite book? Or, what is your least favorite line from your favorite book?

Least favorite line from my favorite book is actually in Harry Potter from Albus Dumbledore when he says “We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy?”. I don’t disagree with the principle of the quote. In fact I agree that it is a choice most people will have to make. But I can not stress this enough. This burden falls on adults, not children. If you make a child make this choice, I will come find you and beat the absolute shit out of you. Children should not have to fight wars that their parents started before they even reach adulthood. Mini rant over.

9. What questions do you ask yourself when drafting a WIP?

So I don’t generally start a draft until I know what all the major events are and what order they are occurring in. That means I tend to ask myself: what is the plot? Why do my characters give a shit? What am I doing to these poor characters? Generally, the answer is just pain. I like putting my characters through a whole lot of shit.

10. A fellow writer once said that “we’ve all trapped Sims in the swimming pool.” What are the “trapping Sims in the pool” moments in your stories?

Oh my god. In Hidden Realms, I killed a character in order to force the issue of the Holy Roman Empire to attack our main characters. Only I realized after I wrote that, that it meant one point of view wasn’t going to cut it when half the plot takes place after death. I had to go change the entire story to have 6 point of views. I’m still screaming at myself.

11. What’s your favorite bad metaphor?

She had brown eyes like mud. (yes I know this is a simile, but still.)

12. Do you have any pets in you WIP(s)??

Daisy has a pet raven, and a pet mountain lion. I mean they’re not really pets, so much as companions, but it counts. I think Vivian has a fish in her office, but like it doesn’t have a name and her brother is the one who feeds it, so does it count?

13. How many story names have you gone through so far?

Lost was always Lost. Hidden Realms didn’t have a title for about a year, then suddenly one of my friends started referring to it as the book series in which all the realms are found, and then Hidden Realms became the title. It’s the title of the series though. The first book is called the “The merging of Realms.” (The readers won’t understand its meaning until the second book, but that’s called foreshadowing.) The Destined series came about because of a moodboard made for the main character where someone summarized her as Destined for War and I went “oh that’s perfect for the whole series.” Silence is a shitty placement title, so I can refer to the book. It definitely won’t be marketed as that. If you have suggestions for it, please tell me.

14. Are there any important bodies of water in your story??

We cross the ocean in like all of them, so yes. All the oceans. Just all of them. A couple important rivers too.

15. Describe an oc with ten or less words,,,

Daisy: A wild fae with anger management issues.

Adrian: A prince who really wants family but never succeeds.

Lulu: A vampire with a human fiancé and twin witch children.

16. What was the inspo behind your story’s name?

Haha. I kind of answered those in question 13 except for Lost. Lost is a book about children choosing a revolution that will almost certainly kill them in order to save a world that was lost centuries if not millenniums before they were born. So they are Lost ones. The title should be Lost.

17. What’s the most you’ve written in one day?

If you mean new words, I once hand-wrote five chapters in an 8 hour car ride to avoid dealing with grief. If you mean most written period, I typed 31,756 words in three hours from a journal I had hand-written it in.

18. Are there any couples in your story that you find really cute??

Lulu and Octavian are goals. Daisy and Leahsidhe are my baby lesbians, who definitely don’t get a happy ending. Please don’t ship them. It does not end well. I’m a terrible person.

19. Do any of your pc’s have allergies? If so, what??

Do any of them have allergies? I have a gut feeling Balthazar has some allergies, but he is not fully developed yet, so I can’t easily tell you what they are. Its some kind of plant. We’re going to find out when they move to the woods.

20. Is there any lgbt+ rep in your story?

There is a shit ton. I am lgbt+, so are the vast majority of my characters. Adrian is asexual. Daisy is pansexual. Leahsidhe is bisexual. Ruby is lesbian. Suno and Balthazar are gay. Those are the ones who have names. I have ideas for other works that have so many sexualities, its going to be an adventure.

21. Do any of your oc’s have tattoos?

Rose has an entire sleeve on both arms. They’re for all the 28 of the members of the revolution. When Daisy’s baby is born, she adds one for her too. Its one of the only happy scenes in Lost. (author runs away)

22. What’s your favourite friend pairing trope?

Friend pairing trope. Being able to communicate without talking. I love that shit.

My Creative Year in Review 2018

Preface: This will be a bit of a mashup of two things; art and writing. But I’ll be clear. This is also a long post, I’m very sorry. Apparently I don’t shut up.

Total number of creations? (Or a rough guess!)

Art - Finished; 221 (not all published) Art - WIPS; 25 Writing - Published; 4 Writing - WIPS; 9 ?

Was there a project that you didn’t get around to?

In terms of starting or finishing? Lol. I didn’t get around to publishing the first chapter of the MU fic, which I desperately still want to before S2 starts. Because I keep writing all the middle bits instead. Nor did I get around to start writing the “winter fic” beyond plot points and a few little scenes.

There’s a looooooooooooooot of art I didn’t get around to either starting properly or finishing. Lol. I have a L’Rell piece I really want to do, as well as [another] mirror Stamets piece I want to do.

What was the creation you had the most fun making?

Art: Oh that’s hard. A lot of things for a lot of different reasons. I enjoyed the Holiday artworks because they were….really out of my depth and fun. Mostly I loved sending them out on cards to friends.

More recently I had a lot of fun doing the Patroclus and Achilles piece. Loved using golden hues.

Also have a lot of fun with Not Safe for Work-Viewing pieces, but those will never be published here. :D Sorry.

Writing: I had a surprising amount of fun writing the Vampire AU fic [Just a Taste] for Halloween. Which I never expected to write anything vampiric, ever, and also it came together really quickly. Building the world in that short fic was a lot of fun.

Any surprises? (E.g. a character or ship you never thought you’d create for or a project that came out of nowhere?)

Well honestly this whole revival to art and writing came as a surprise, I hadn’t done either in many years. I was also never a Star Trek fan prior to Disco, nor have I ever been a part of a fandom before. This is my first! So that was surprising, also surprising was how massively obsessed I became and how important it became to me. But the best surprise out of all of that is the connections to people I’ve made and the friendships that have come from that. ily. <3 Also not going to lie, pretty surprised that suddenly my art has become mega-fuckin-colourful. Where did this love of neon come from??? Wtf

What was the hardest creation to make?

Writing; MU fic - hands down. I have pages and pages and pages of resources. Not only is it going to be a long story (I endeavour and hope) but also from the amount of which I am pulling from and want to align to canon as as best I can as well. Being a new fan to Trek also... it’s been pretty overwhelming to get these details right. But at the same time, really trying to flesh out a character we never met or saw in the show, and have them interact with the established canon and have that all make sense… That and have the science in it make as much sense as possible, I’ve based a few new things on scientific principles and things that exist and just trying to elevate them to a cosmic scale… and hope I can pull that off too. It’s pretty intimidating. Not going into it, but the way the story weaves and intersects with a few different genres.. I just want to have it make sense in it’s self contained body of work.

Yeah it’s hard. Lol. Biggest thing I’ve ever tried to do. But, I love it, truly. I think about this whole project an inhumane amount of times every day, and I love that.

It’s also hard because I’d love to be a linear writer, but I am not. At all. I’m constantly writing ahead, well and truly ahead, but then coming back, adding to and editing earlier bits and rewriting and rewriting….rewriting… ugh

The subjects and themes are also a little heavy, and it’s cathartic to write about, sure, but also wanting to do those moments justice and with respect and integrity - because that’s important to me too.

The whole thing is just a lot of fuckin work, lol. But I really love it. Already - and it’s nowhere near done.

Art; Probably the one where Paul is laying down [crying] in the spore chamber. It was my first return to trying to paint semi-realism, and... it didn’t work out. I’m not happy with it anymore, but also proud that I pulled it off. That pose? Hair? HAND? UGH those took me too long to get right. But, overall it certainly taught me a lot to use on future more realism-ish pieces such as the Cosmic/Celestial pics of Hugh and Paul [which I love.]

What inspired you the most this year?

Oh, easy. Discovery. Hugh and Paul, hands down both of those things. But also to the endlessly talented people who I’ve come to know and also enjoy the works of - be it written, art, or otherwise. Creativity inspires creativity.

What are you most proud of? (A creation, something you learned, etc)

Art: The Cosmic/Celestial pieces. Very proud of those. (So much so I made metal prints of them and they sit on my bookshelf between a salt lamp.) I really love how they came out, and really the original (Cosmic Paul) was kind of an accident, a happy accident if you will.

Also the piece of Anthony I did for Anthony’s birthday. That was a lot of fun constructing something visually representative of a person.

Any goals/plans/ideas for next year?

Fucking get some headway on my MU fic so I can stop being so annoying by just talking about it, and fucking start publishing it already - for then it then it would EXIST in the word. LOL. Ugh. That’s the only big plan, that’s all I want to do. Whatever art I will do - I will just find inspiration in the moment to do. No plans, other than the L’Rell piece and a couple other WIPs - maybe.

Honestly just that and trying to keep improving, both in writing and in drawing. I feel like I’ve improved over this past year, so would love to just continue on that trajectory.

The Cosmic and Celestial Series I just love how these turned out, especially because it was such a surprise how it turned out originally. But being able portray this cosmic divinity of which I uphold them both to be in my mind was really awesome to pull off. The colours, and dramatic light, this whole thing was so fucking fun. The whole painting with colours as highlights / shadows / dual light source was a huge experiment for me and it taught me a huge amount, so I really love it for many reasons.

The Song of Achilles I started sketching this while I was listening to the audio book and while I fell in love with these two. Please, again, do go read this book. But the detailing on the spear, the auras and Achilles hair were my favourite bits. Oh and the gold blood. Of course, lol. Loved doing the symbolic imagery

Anthony Rapp’s Birthday Portrait Because this man means a whole lot to me, and it was nice really nice for a change of pace to try and depict him and things that are important to him. Also really proud of that shoe, ngl. & And MU Stamets and his Mycelium Sun

Huge experiment in terms of colour and lighting for me, and I love love love how it turned out. Even if it’s a little rough. This one was so much fun, and I also printed this out on metal actually lol. Looks pretty cool. & First MU Culmets Work Still in my heart, even though it’s a earlier work, because it was the first exploitation of this duo for me, and how they might be together. Also where I came up with the HC for his facial scar, which I always will include in any MU Hugh depiction of mine. But I still really like how their characterisation translates in this one.

Writing

Nomenclature.

The archaeology AU story I wrote for 30MinuteLoop. Also well, this is the only one that’s safe for viewing that’s published, lol, but I am genuinely really proud of this and seeing it through to completion.

But also the MU story is a fave, but this is the only published section so far:

How you decide on which style to use for individual pieces?

Unless it’s something very specific in mind (like the holiday pieces) I just kind of let it take a life of its own. See what it evolves into. I might have one idea to where I want it to go before I export it to PS, but once in PS it might take a whole new life (prime example if the original Cosmic/Celestial Paul. The original was very flat, and pretty boring lol but really became something else in PS. Actually it was supposed to be originally a visual piece to accompany my Vampire fic - and Vampire Hugh picture. But that changed entirely once I got it into PS.)

I'd also know more about your literal process, as in: what's your hardware set-up, what software do you use?

I have a weird all over the place set up. Lol.

So I do the majority of the work on my iPad, up until a stage where I don’t think I can go any further with it (or need more than 6 layers at my disposal) and then export it to my PC (either work or home) and then work on it further in Photoshop. Of which it then gains infinite amount of layers, lmao. Oh god.

As for the file on the iPad, when I’m working on that I can only have 6 layers. So usually will do sketch/line-work on one (or two, if I have to work a problematic bit but then merge it with the rest) and same with the colour/painting. That’s always on one layer, which I’ve grown to really like working like that. I might do skin on one, then clothes on another, but eventually will merge them. If it’s a full paint (or even half paint maybe), the colour and line layer will eventually be merged as I erase the lines I no longer need as I go and blend that layer more seamlessly into the painted layer. It just ending up a purely painted file without the original lines. Another layer may be added for more delicate details such as eyelashes and eyebrows, things like that.

Everything I do once exported to Photoshop is just with a mouse, I have a Wacom tablet… But I don’t use it, because I haven’t been bothered calibrating it with my dual monitor setup, and am happy doing most of the work on the iPad anyway as it kinda acts like a Cintiq in that regard. But localised. (Plus I can take it anywhere with me, interstate, overseas, to work, to the park, etc. I love that mobility.) Depending if I need a certain element that’s vector based, I’ll make it in Corel Draw or Illustrator, too. I also have Corel painter....buuuuuuuuut still haven’t used it. That’s a goal for 2019 for sure, lmao. Very occasionally I will physically sketch out the idea (like the holiday pieces) scan, and rework, redraw, line it, or whatever in the iPad then go forth with all of the above processes.

How long does it usually take you from start to finish?

Art: How long a piece takes really varies lol. Sketches can be between 1 - 4 hours on average, sometimes more. Flat colours will be a couple hours more. Half paints usually 4-8 more hours. Full paints and more realism stuff like the Cosmic/Celestial is total of 18hours+ but those times are just a rough idea, sometimes something just works out a lot quicker. Sometimes longer.

Writing: FOR FUYCKING EVER. I’m the slowest writer ever.

Do you have art WIPs and what do you think keeps you from finishing them?

I have a lot of art WIPs lol I think just losing drive or inspiration to finish them is what mainly kills them, or me getting frustrated that it isn’t working out like I wanted. Sometimes I just forget they exist.

Probably same goes for writing, too. Lol. Also it could be that I’ll dream up the entire (or mostly) of the story, but then getting it onto the page is hard. I want to work at getting better at that.

Do you do any non-fanart, too?

Sure. Although not often anymore, I’m honestly just inhumanly obsessed with Hugh and Paul.. Even when I start a project that isn’t centric to either or both of them… Often it will kind of morph into them. oops.

I want to say yes to fic too...but That’s a project I haven’t worked on in fucking years and years, so I doubt that really counts anymore.

My “WIPs”

Oh my goodness. I had stuffed saved in all different places. I’ll start with the folders that contained fics that are incomplete. Welp, here I go!

Great Galactic War - this folder is the dump for my Haikyuu space/war AU, one of three or four fics I may focus on writing in the near future (first chapter is already published); the folder has very little atm, but I have about two dozen different scenes on my phone that aren't saved on PC

Kenma Project - the dump for my actively ongoing Haikyuu next gen captain war AU. I have a file in here further titled Ennoshita chapter. I wonder what that’s about? ;)

Three Kings - the dump for my Haikyuu samurai AU starring Hinata and Noya, the second possible fic I may commit to writing (first 2 chapters already published); there’s a chapter outline (which is dated because I’ve updated it in my head so much), and there are notes and many chapter tidbits on my phone too

Vice - the dump for a canonverse Haikyuu fic that was borne from a desire to write more Nekoma, so I subjected them to debilitating angst. There’s a rough chapter outline in here, and there are a couple of chapter drafts saved as emails on my phone. It’s the third fic that I might commit my time to (first 2 chapters, starring poor Inuoka, already published)

March of Justice - this folder was the dump for my aborted One Piece/My Hero Academia crossover, in which a couple of One Piece villains travel to the BnHA universe to conquer it

And here’s the rest I found. Some of these are just notes on fanciful ideas I had for a day and then never revisited. Others were never intended to see the light of day whatsoever

Abe dake ga Inai Machi - Oofuri-Erased - oh goodness. I had to stare at that title for a while to figure out what was wrong with it. An Oofuri/Big Windup fanfic that I didn’t play with for very long, but I was surprised to find I actually wrote the first chapter. Like Boku Dake ga Inai Machi (Erased), there’s a murder and then Abe finds himself transported back to the start of the Oofuri series, 10 months earlier. I reread some of this first chapter, and by my standards, it’s awful

Ace of Diamond - scandal fanfic - one of the ones never intended to see the light of day. It’s just notes. Basically Seidou pulls off its own Black Sox scandal and gets nailed, with some drama over whether Eijun is actually guilty

Ace of Iron / Ace of Swords - a Diamond no Ace samurai AU, mostly notes but also including drafts of a first chapter. It grew so huge there was no chance I could ever write it as a fanfic, so I actually converted it into an original story idea that I may do something with some day

Big Windup - cheating ploy disaster - this one is just notes and also never intended to see the light of day. An Oofuri idea in which Nishiura’s defeated rivals suspect them of cheating and kidnap the club boys to force them to confess. It goes even more downhill. (I’m very glad that, since discovering Haikyuu, I now conceive fanfics I actually want to write.)

Day of the Countercoup - I had to dig to find this one cos I knew it existed, but it wasn't a file. It was a tab in an Excel doc I used for my Haikyuu political AU, Coup d’Etat. It’s notes for an aborted sequel (Coup d’Etat’s original title was “Night of the Coup,” hence this contrasting title) that I scrapped soon after starting work on it. So glad too! Coup d’Etat got its due, and that AUverse shall be left to itself now

Haikyu - Gospel of Shouyou - oh goodness. I’m not gonna explain this one. Me experimenting, not intended to see the light of day

Haikyu - Nightmare from Heaven - this one may be the fourth candidate for continuation as a long-term fic but is currently unpublished. A war/occupation fic in which Miyagi Prefecture is conquered during a contemporary World War III, and the Karasuno boys must now live under foreign military occupation. The first chapter and part of the second were written, and I've got several notes on my phone and PC about subsequent chapters. Thank goodness tensions in that part of the world have simmered down since I devised it

Life Hereafter - Chapter 6.5 alternate ending - oh no. Life Hereafter is my darkest and most sensitive fic, published only on FFN, written to process a RL tragedy I was distantly affected by. I struggled with the ending of Chapter 6, which covered Tsukki and Yamaguchi’s coping with the canonverse tragedy. One draft (called “6.5″ in case I ever wanted to publish it, but I likely never will) featured Tsukki, seeking solace and desperately wanting to console Yamaguchi, giving in to poor judgment and kissing him. Only to then learn Yamaguchi doesn't have the same feelings back. Topping off their hurt with this was far too cruel and painful, and even before I started typing it, I knew I wouldn’t actually publish it. Rereading the draft even now made me feel uncomfortable which is why I kept it because it’s perhaps the best friendship-ruining moment I’ve ever written

Oofuri fanfic - Sakura Conspiracy - I thought I wrote a chapter 1 draft too, but this is an outline for a WWII Oofuri AU in which Nishiura, after winning Koshien in the late 20s or early 30s, moves on to military and political careers, one of their former teammates dies under suspicious circumstances, and Mihashi fears one of his old teammates may be responsible. The story stretches from 1937 to 1945

I'm actually surprised I found no notes on my Haikyuu mafia AU idea. I guess I never actually transcribed any, even though the plot is substantially complete in my head!

These four are all notes for gigantic crossovers:

Periods of World fanfic - This was an experiment, in which each century from 2000 BC to 2000 AD was listed out, a different part of the world selected for each century, and then a different anime or manga assigned to each part of the world. The idea was to write a chapter set in that century in that area starring those characters. The last chapter, for the new millennium, would have covered all parts of the world. The file is dated 2013. It never became more than this list

Periods of World fanfic 2 - and so it seems I tried again! This file is dated 2014 and shows just a teeny bit more dedication, with the 20th century further subdivided into decades, then every year from 2000-2009, and then every six months for 2010-2014. There are some different anime choices than the 2013 version. Never went anywhere with it, never gonna

Reborn epic crossover anime tribute layout - yes, that’s the literal filename. This is from my days as a Katekyo Hitman Reborn fan, and I don't even recognize most of the character names anymore. Apparently the villains of Reborn travel to seven other anime universes to kidnap major characters to sacrifice them as part of some weird magic scheme that I can’t properly decipher now

Random multi-anime WWII fanfic plan - yes, that’s also the literal filename. This is an outline for a 50-chapter crossover set before and during World War II, where the main characters of Naruto are Russian, One Piece are British, Bleach are French, Katekyo Hitman Reborn are German, Blue Exorcist are Italian, Fairy Tail are Japanese, and Ed and Al from FMA are American. The plot is emotionally devastating, doesn’t pull the punches on all sorts of WWII-related triggers, and frequently and cruelly denies catharsis.

To be perfectly honest though, rereading it, I swear this is the best story I have ever invented! It has a heartrending blend of tragedy, poignant poetic justice, subplot causality, and social commentary and contains few of the traps I sometimes fall into like cheap shock and subplots going nowhere. I really wish I could do something with this narrative now

And I’ll count the hefty handful of TV scripts I’ve written in an effort to practice and hone my scriptwriting skills. All but the last one of these are hypothetical new seasons of real anime:

Blue Exorcist s2 - 1 episode. My attempt to write the Impure King arc, years before they actually produced the Impure King arc. This was not my best work

Noragami: God’s Secret - 2 episodes for a manga-based Season 3. These were pretty decent imo

Oofuri/Big Windup: The Coming of Fall - 17 episodes. I got really into this one. A speculative season 3 assuming three cours (imo we probably won’t be blessed with that many episodes if season 3 comes), covering everything up until the end of the fall tournament. The first 13 episodes covered the story up to chapter 84 minus the Kasukabe match, followed by an OVA (ep 13.5), and then I was working on the Kasukabe match told in hindsight before planning to continue with the big game of the fall prelims. The third cour would have covered the fall tournament itself

Mekakucity Actors XX - 4 episodes. My own idea for a season 2/alternate ending. Because I was very conflicted with how the anime ended

School Babysitters - this was an original episode idea for Gakuen Babysitters that I enjoyed writing very much but turned out too long (40 pages) and features the babies turning into insects. I wouldn't mind publishing it somewhere actually!

Writing questions tag

I was tagged by @kattahj , so here goes ...

1) How many works in progress do you currently have in progress?

Honestly I don't even know. In the sense of ‘things I'm actively working on’, three or four. In terms of things I've started and plan to come back to, I have 36 files in my WIP folder, and one of them is a notes file with various different things in. Some of those are potential continuations of things I've already posted (like the Nate Hansen series), others are partly written, some are just notes or vague aims. And I actually haven't looked at it for ages, so some of it probably duplicates some of those actual files, or even things I have posted. But then I also probably have a few things in notebook form that I haven't typed up yet. So yeah, I don't know.

2) Do you/would you write fanfiction?

I rarely write anything else.

3) Do you prefer paper books or ebooks?

Yes. They are both wonderful. I like paper books for being this real physical object you can hold in your hand and put on the shelf. But I love my kindle too for the amount of books it can hold in something so light. I'm still fascinated by the e-ink technology.

4) When did you start writing?

I have some memories of writing some things as a kid (like maybe 8 years old) and various aborted attempts to write various different kinds of things over the years since. But I really only started writing a couple of years ago when I discovered fanfic.

5) Do you have someone you trust that you share your work with?

Yes, @grey-haven and @yumearashi have given me some great pointers, so thank you to them.

6) Where is your favorite place to write?

A lazy Sunday morning at home.

7) Favorite childhood book?

This is a tricky one in the sense that I can't really remember. I think I read a lot of Famous Five at one point. And the name Malory Towers has just come back to me. And other things I can't remember the name of; a girl solving crimes Scooby Doo style, a boarding school in Switzerland (possibly those were the same thing?) … lots of things with posh kids being daring and/or having midnight feasts. I think I basically read whatever was available in the school library, or the tiny mobile library that would visit the village every so often.

8) Writing for fun or writing for publication?

Fun.

9) Pen and paper or computer?

Both, plus phone. I'm pretty sure most of my fics wouldn't exist at all if it weren't for Google docs allowing me to work on stuff/make notes on my phone on the train on the way to work and then pick it up on the PC at the weekend. Plus I keep a notebook by the bed for when I wake up with ideas.

10) Have you ever taken any writing classes?

No. Sometimes I think I should do something about that. But I haven't got around to it yet.

11) What inspires you to write?

It is all entirely Eric Balfour’s fault.

That and the What Ifs. What if this character hadn't left? / What if that character hadn't stayed? / What if the rules were just slightly different? / What if these characters met? / What if those characters had never met? …..

1) How many works in progress do you have?

uhm, 4 wips I have actively worked on already, 3 wips that are only ideas, and a couple of prompts in my inbox. I normally never work on multiple things at the same time, but I got in a time crunch with some of my wips so now I’m hoping around like an idiot! haha

2) Do you/would you write fanfiction?

Obviously! haha

3) Do you prefer paper books or ebooks?

I’m an old timey person, I LOVE paper books, don’t even own an e-reader. I have a big bookcase that I hope will one day overflow with books. I haven’t read every book I own, but like Umberto Eco, I believe having an antilibrary is as important as an actual library. Unread books stand for the knowledge you still have to make your own. For life-long learning. And I feel like e-readers can never have that same feeling? I don’t know, man, maybe it’s all bullshit and I just like having more books than money *peace sign*

4) When did you start writing?

When I was tiny, I made my own magazines, with “articles” and puzzles and the like and when I grew older, I started writing more of those articles. Then, in my teens, I started writing fictional stories and poetry (cringe) and I never really stopped. I wrote some fanfiction before I started posting it for Skam, but those will forever remain in the depths of my pc!

5) Do you have someone you trust that you share your work with?

I drop my stories on the internet so..... and with my own, non-fandom, work I trust my best friend and my parents. I don’t really like beta’s, it always takes a bit of courage for me to ask someone to proof-read, because I’m very insecure and if you are too harsh, I’ll cry (no joke)

6) Where is your favorite place to write?

This changes ALL the time. Right now, my desk, in my study, as this has the most natural light

7) Favorite childhood book?

Oh man, I read so much as a kid! I cracked open a book when I woke up and I would literally walk around the house with a book all day. I read so much I destroyed my eyes when I was 10 and now I have to wear glasses, not even kidding. But my fave book? I’m not sure... I read all the HP’s multiple times, at least once a year for a while (always around christmas). I loved Marc De Bel, he’s a Belgian author and he wrote the cutest, funniest children books and some amazing poetry for teens. Roald Dahl was also a favorite of mine. Gerda van Erkel (she is Dutch, I think). I also remember this book about a little girl who lived next to a zoo and every night the zoo animals would come get her and they would have adventures. My mom and me read this every night before bed, one page each, right after she divorced from my dad and we lived alone.

8) Writing for fun or publication?

I definitely write for fun (and therapy) but I hope to once day publish the novel I’ve been working on for fucking years. But it’s a really hard one and it takes a shit ton of mental power to do it.

9) Pen and paper or computer?

I make an outline on paper a lot. Or short stories on paper. But when I really sit down to work, I’ll always use the computer.

10) Have you ever taken any writing classes?

No, I kinda wish. But on the other hand, I’m happy I never took classes because now my writing style is mine and mine alone. I do have an English lit degree, so I suspect that does influence me, I kinda write with a specific lit style in the back of my head.

11) What inspires you to write?

I always listen to music, that inspires me a lot! I can take one sentence from a song and start from there. I admit I also kinda write for selfish reasons: if I see myself in this or that character, and I can make it better for them, maybe it’ll make me feel better about my situation. Sometimes I see things in irl and think “cool evak au”... lol

2017 Fic in Review

I was tagged by @frivoloussuits, thank you! This. actually shows how MUCH of a difference there is between how much I write and how much I publish. It’s. embarassing.

Total number of completed stories: 22 published + 19 that are still in my pc. Poor unfortunate souls.

Total word count: (...I assumed this meant BOTH finished/published stuff and WIPs. It only occurred to me AFTER I’d done all the work that it probably meant the finished ones. And since I did the work, I’ll answer with that :P) 247.500 words, WIPs and all. HOW.

Fandoms written in: Suits, Agents of SHIELD, Supernatural, Stitchers.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? That word count is insane LOL. I started university this year, I MOVED to another city, basically everything is different, I have to go visit my parents at least once a month, and BEFORE all that I had to study for the last year of high school, to pass the exam etc. And yet I somehow found the time to write all this stuff. It makes me feel pretty proud of myself tbh.

What’s your own favorite story of the year? Ah. Uh, man. I guess I’ll have to go with the second fic from my demon!Harvey AU, because I love writing in that verse, there’s hurt!Harvey and protective!Mike even if Mike is a tiny little human, and it’s a Supernatural-inspired universe. So a bunch of my favourite things all together :P

Did you take any writing risks this year? I’ve ventured in a couple of complicated AUs that are still a WIP. Trying to wrap my head around the general plot alone is insane, even BEFORE the characters start moving around and doing whatever they want, subsequently screwing everything up for poor old me. Sigh.

Do you have any fanfic or profit goals for the new year? ........publish stuff. For a change.

Best story of the year? Of mine? I’ll still go with the demon!Harvey one. I’m biased.

Most popular story of the year? By kudos, it’s Leave it unspoken, because apparently people are very fond of Mike and Harvey being ridiculous idiots in love :P

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Still going by kudos, the Stitchers stories, probably because it’s a small fandom and a small ship :P

Most fun story to write: Leave it unspoken. The amount of giggling (and face-palming) while I was dealing with those clueless idiots, I swear.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters & most unintentionally telling story: This one I... really don’t know?

Biggest disappointment: Nah, I can’t think of any big disappointments right now.

Biggest surprise: Agents of SHIELD. I didn’t expect to be that much into the show (...I wasn’t all that enthusiastic when I started it, I thought it’d be “meh”. Man, was I wrong, I love it) or that the characters would be such a big fic inspiration for me. I have so many AOS fics in progress (...and finished) that it’s ridiculous.

I haven’t named this but basically it’s spy Jungkook and there’s a mission wherein he has to live in a suburb to figure out what’s been going on but a single dude moving into a suburb is much too odd isn’t it? He needs a partner, someone lowkey and who better than expendable!you bc if anything goes wrong… no one will notice. *Expendable as in no friends, no relatives and basically if you die, nobody would care. Anyway, you & Jungkook, both forced to play a newly engaged couple… in a suburb… what could go wrong????

Mcnuggets Jin au

So you work at mcdonald’s and twice a week at 2 am, this guy comes in and orders a 2x50 pc mcnuggets set and eats it all in one go… every week?! Why?! Though you love nuggets, you almost feel sorry for him bc like does he have nowhere else to go? Does he not know of any good restaurants? And after a few months of talking to him while he eats his mcnuggets, you offer to take him out to dinner at this new place you found! A dim sum place that’s really good!!!! Only to find out that…

Dining in the dark!au ft. HOBI

It’s like your friend has a tic to the new dine in the dark place where they match you up to your supposed soulmate for the night but she can’t attend so she asks you to go in her stead. Basically, you have dinner, in the dark, unable to see the other person opposite you and in the end, the lights are turned on but you only have a few seconds to see each other before you guys are ushered out of different exits, never to see each other again. The concept is that if they were really your soulmate, you’d see each other again someday. Anyway, dinner is amazing, great and the guy is super nice and interesting but the lights turn on and it’s hoseok… your former…

College!au Ft. YOONGI!!!

Your best friend, Hani, is like the sun. Everything revolves around her. All her life, she’s always been chased after by boys and girls alike. She was the typical everyone either wanted to be her or be with her type of person.

“Hey,” The boy smiles, sliding next to you nonchalantly. “How’s it going?”

At this point, you’re tired and hungry and you’ve just had enough because you can’t count the number of times someone has asked that question only to follow up with another question, one you’re all too familiar with.

Wrapped Around pt.8

LIKE OK WOW. Some of y’all are really passionate is all I can say about this fic and I’m just a lil traumatized by what happened last update so this one is kinda sittin on the backburner for now. I’ve been hella confused with what to do bc I write for myself yeah but also like it’s nice when y’all appreciate what I write so I’ve decided on two endings to keep you peanuts happy and also myself happy bc I can’t choose anyway lol. But I was wondering if I should split Tae’s part into a prequel bc you all seemingly think he came outta nowhere but really he didn’t!! at least not in my head which is a problem bc you can’t look into my head. I was planning to name the prequel You’ve Got Me so it continues into Wrapped Around and if there was an epilogue it’ll be called… Your Finger but I realized that would be a very very odd single fic title. Anyway fear not Jimin stans, I gotchu.

Escape pt.10 (I guess?)

Part 9 was supposed to be the end but I think a few of you had questions about Hoseok and Jimin and how it all actually ends so this is that!!! Plus someone was like can you imagine?? An epilogue?? Where they get married?!!! And so I imagined it and I was like fml now I have to write this bc it’s too cute! so this chapter is gonna sum everything up plus the proposal plus the marriage PLUS someone was like can you imagine oc pregnant??? And so I imagined that too and I was like shit now I HAVE TO write this bc it’s even cuter!!!

This chapter is gonna be all the cutesy lil platonic dates like I’m so excited for the end of this fic??? You guys don’t even know how long I’ve had the finale planned out lol so building towards the finale has been real fun but wew the end of jeon logistics hmmm??? srsly I have this thing with imagining the finale and having a super hard time trying to connect the dots but I’ve really been thinking about more sassy dialogue for this fic bc I love the bantz. WIP Meme

i was tagged by @schnaf and oh my god where do I start?

- David: The one where I'm mean to some babys. It's about David Sauerland and Patrick Mainka and started with a photo I took. A foto where Nici was like "lol, it looks like David is afraid of Patrick hitting him." Davids parents didnt really cope well with their son being gay. And Patrick? Patrick suffers from something else.

- Omegaverse Nuri: In this Universe, Nuris career ended before it even started. He's 16 when it's found out that he actually isn't a beta and like any other Omega, Nuri is left with barely any rights. From now on he belongs to his Alpha. A few years later he meets his former youth coach through his son - who wants him back in football business as a coach.

- Pirates: It's some kind of fantasy AU. Just.... footballers as Pirates. Also, Dragons!

Stuff I also planned:

- Nuricel... Schmahin? Whatever. The old married couple. The story of Nuri and Schmelle. From the day of Schmelles first meeting with "some guy like that" till now. Lots of ups and downs. And the importance of standing together.

- Nurico-Fantasy-AU: Originally planned as some kind of Rome-AU, but I decided that historical correctness sucks and I'd rather create my own little word. A powerfull country, a young soldier with huge talent and a conspiracy. Nuri and Marco grow up as brothers. The problem: Nuri is a slave who belongs to Marcos parents. But it isn't really a problem right? Nuri isn't treated as a slave and has already proven himself to be one of the brightest masterminds of their army. Until he suddendly gets sold one day. Years later they meet again on the battlefield. But this time on opposing sides. Could become one of my biggest works if I ever found the motivation to fuckin work on it.

- An Ultra and a Footballer meet. She's in the stands every weekend, he's earning millions with the game she loves. Can this ever work out?

- Nuri is gay. Nuri is also also a footballer and belongs to a very traditional family. So instead of having a perfect relationship with a perfect boyfriend, he puts a mask on and seeks his pleasure in the darkrooms of random gaybars. Until one day someone recognizes him and shit goes downhill. Or does it? (Also dealing with Nuris hard time under Tuchel)

...plus ~150 other documents on my PC but... these are the most important ones I guess?

A Minor Update

Even though I rarely post on this site, I haven’t posted in a comparatively long time. A few things have happened that currently affect my ability to make content.

First off, I have started to attend college. This on its own takes up a ton of my time. During the breaks between quarters however, I will attempt to create some content.

Second of all, disk space. One of the problems I have constantly had since I got my new PC was a lack of disc space, and I have had to uninstall Source Filmmaker for the time being. I 100% need to buy a new hard drive, but my power supply is already close to being at full capacity. Since I have not found a part time job yet (a lack of work experince sure helps in finding one, let me tell you!) it will be some time before I can get another hard drive installed on my PC.

Lastly, I’m currently dealing with a lack of motivation. One thing I’ve learned about making art (if you can even call it that) is that motivation plays a huge part in not just efficiency, but actually even starting the process of creating a poster. I feel as if I’m out of ideas at the moment and as if I’m not improving. In all honesty, the last couple of renders I made were not anywhere near as close to the quality I was able to put into my recent Doomguy poster. I always try to make sure that each new work will look better than my previous work (which is why in total I’ve probably only posted 100 or so renders to both here and my Deviantart combined while I have more than 200 finished posters sitting in my SFM folder.) While I understand not every poster can be an improvement of my previous work, a continuous lack of improvement can be demoralizing. This is probably the biggest reason that I’ve taken a hiatus from SFM.

It may be another month or two before I can put something out that is of acceptable quality. But when I do finally get back to a more regular uploading schedule, I might open a Patreon or a Gumroad.

“BUT iAR3S, DON’T YOU DO ALL YOUR WORK FOR FREE!?”

Why, yes random voice, you’re right! If you’ve been on my Deviantart or know me personally, you know that I hate to charge for content that I create. I still stand by that statement. However, my Patreon/Gumroad will be essentially a tip jar.

A couple of the things I was thinking of having as rewards include:

- WIP images

- Optional commissions (basically a personal picture every month, which can be public or private depending on choice)

- PSD files

- Original (straight out of SFM) posters and watermark free posters

Most of these rewards will likely be available for $1/month, since I don’t think they’re worth anything more than that.

If I do decide to have a Gumroad, the products on there will most likely be image sets, mainly comics or a set of pictures I have created. These can all be obtained for free, but have the option to name your price (if you choose).

Once again, I’m not trying to lock any of my previous content behind a paywall, but rather try to make some money that I can put back into computer upgrades to make even better SFM stuff (and maybe even later on, Maya/Blender stuff!)

Let me reiterate: This will only happen if I decide to make a Patreon/Gumroad. I may decide not to make one.

I will also still do requests for free, but please don’t try to constantly spam me with requests, I need to be able to handle as many requests from different people as I can. (If the Patreon does end up becoming a thing, the Patreon commissions will obviously have higher priority.)

If you read this far, I genuinely appreciate you reading all the way through. Hopefully I can get back to SFM ASAP, and get back into one of my favorite hobbies!

I want to write, or at least I want to finish some of my many WIPs

and I need/want to finish at least a few of those before Endgame comes out

but I need to type my fucking notebooks because at this point I barely know where I am in a lot of those WIPs

and I want to sign up for the hurt/comfort exchange

and I need/want to get back to a few unfinished fics that I posted on Yuletide for one exchange or another with the promise that I’d finish them and never did (not to mention my millions of other WIPs--just for instance, since RDR2 came out recently and the franchise seems to have more of an actual fandom on Tumblr this time around, now would be a good time to dust off my Undead Nightmare fic, except I know I have to figure out Plot Stuff and also a pretty huge amount of what I already wrote is unusable garbage)

and I need/want to answer some emails

but I need to work on a couple Etsy orders

but I need/want to finish those two Avengers Academy customs very soon

and I need/want to make other samples to list on Etsy

but I need to somehow make room to organize my supplies if I want to make things slightly easier on myself

and I need to list a whole ton of stuff on eBay to clear out some space

but I need/want to play a lot more SWTOR before it inevitably goes the way of all MMOs

but I want to play some of the much shorter free games I found on Steam recently (and also like...literally anything in my library because I have 773 games and probably 99% of them are completely untouched)

but I want to pick up another Hitman achievement, and more Gone Home achievements, and other achievements in some of those free games

but I want to get back to Fallout 3 and then New Vegas (and Dragon Age, and Mass Effect, and Bioshock 2, and...)

but I still need to find and buy the last couple parts for my PC upgrade and then actually do the upgrade, and until I do it’s probably not the greatest idea to create more files I’ll need to back up

but I need to back up my fucking files, so I can transfer everything to the new setup in one go but also just...in general, obviously, I need some kind of set-it-and-forget-it system

and I still need to go through more of my Tumblr posts to save things I might want later

but I need to go to Planet Fitness more often, in part because it might help with my constant headaches, neckaches, and sleeping problems

but I also need to find a therapist to help straighten out my probably-ADHD disaster brain, which means more appointments, which means fewer evenings on which I can do anything

but I need to train Hazy like...a lot, and she shouldn’t be left alone while we’re working on her separation anxiety, which means fewer evenings doing anything but going straight home

and I need to read the book I bought about separation anxiety in dogs

but I also need to work on her reactive behavior

and I need/want to set up a webcam to monitor her, but it turns out finding a halfway-decent webcam program with online monitoring, all for free, is really fucking difficult

but I need to do more political volunteering, like I know ResistBot needs volunteers and Sleeping Giants is always a thing and surely those are not that difficult but they do take time

and I need to be doing my core exercises, and new wrist exercises that might or might not help

and I need to set up the new printer

and I need to put more oil in my car or take it in for an oil change, and also take it in to get the electrical systems looked at but I can’t do that if they’re not actively doing the things that need fixing, and those things are inconsistent

and I need to get to bed at a better time on workdays, and get going at a better time, and get work reports done faster so I can make better progress on my backlog and stop having to tell people “sorry, I know you submitted this over a year ago,” and generally do better so I have more time and energy for all the other things I need and/or want to do

but there’s so much and I’m so tired and there’s just never enough time or energy for all of it and doing one thing means not doing other things and I can’t prioritize so I just...don’t choose and end up not doing much of anything

because lists make me feel better

it's election day and that means hours of anxiety yay!!! I'm trying to tell myself, I did what I could and that's still true no matter what happens, which is slightly difficult because I don't love talking to people and therefore I never went canvassing for local campaigns, didn't do any phonebanking until this weekend, and didn't do a lot of textbanking until this weekend either. and I didn't like...take any time off work. so maybe I didn't do everything I could, but you know what, I did do stuff and that's still good:

wrote 130 ACLU voter postcards, 15 letters with Vote Forward, and 90 postcards with Postcards To Voters for Stacey Abrams

made...a lot of donations, like a whole lot, I don't want to add it all up because that would be difficult and also I don't really want to know, but I donated a lot to several different campaigns, in addition to my existing monthly donations to places like the ACLU, SPLC, and the Sierra Club, to the point that uhhhhh my credit score dropped a couple points because I wasn't paying enough attention and I had a bunch of recurring donations on one card that I already wasn't being very good about paying off, and I actually exceeded my credit limit?? which is my own dumb fault, obviously, but...that's a thing that happened. (did I often donate to alleviate my guilt about not being more active? YOU BET.)

posted lots of educational articles on Facebook (and some relevant personal posts) even though I know my conservative family and friends aren't reading them 😒

reminded people I knew to vote, and tried to convince them to vote blue

texted at least a couple thousand voters in Missouri, California, and Wisconsin, especially Sunday, yesterday, and today

volunteered locally with Alyse Galvin (waved signs two evenings last week in 25F weather, addressed postcards, did some data entry) and AK Democrats generally (phonebanking for a few hours yesterday and this weekend, which was not my favorite thing but also wasn't that bad, and as a bonus I was able to multitask last night by texting while I made calls)

tonight I'll be at my precinct for a couple hours or more as a poll watcher for the Democrats, which mainly means sitting around making sure nothing hinky happens

so that's...well, again, maybe it's not everything I could have done but it's definitely still something and that's what I'm trying to focus on, that I did the work and I worked hard. because I did.

other things I'm trying to focus on instead of SHEER TERROR about results: stuff I'm going to do over the next few days/weeks that have nothing to do with politics and that I've been putting off because I've been focusing on the election (also just putting off generally, in some cases, but all of it sounds more appealing right now than ELECTION TERROR).

get a dog!!! I hope!!! because Hazy is with the same rescue group that we got Scully from, I was told we really wouldn't need to apply again or even do a home visit, but I figured a visit would be a good idea anyway to see how she and our cat react to each other, and that's tentatively scheduled for Sunday

take my iPhone in to get its virtually useless battery replaced (which involves turning over my phone for like an hour, and I'm just like WAIT, WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITHOUT MY PHONE FOR AN HOUR, ALL MY ENTERTAINMENT IS ON THERE AND ALSO WHAT IF THERE'S AN EMERGENCY)

get a new phone, if that doesn't help

also, figure out how to replace my equally useless iPod Classic battery

work on an existing Etsy order for a relatively simple Funko FemShep, and also making samples for several other items I've been planning to list, mostly more queer stuff but also some holiday-related stuff that I need to list like...very soon

related: get back to work on some personal projects, like Funko Avengers Academy Thor and various Lokis

somewhat related: build the other two Lego-knockoff Lokis I bought a while ago

type up my notebooks and organize my existing files better so I can figure out where tf I am in my WIPs and prioritize what I want to write next

replay Silent Hill 2, get back to SWTOR again, and try to play/finish at least a few short PC games

make a bunch of Spotify playlists

replace my shitty ancient netbook

replace nearly all the components in my desktop computer, because they're 6 years old and desperately need an upgrade (unfortunately this also means I really, really need to organize my backups)
