Huskerdust Drabble

AU where they start dating after ep 4!!

Angel is terrified of ruining his first good relationship so he tries SO hard to be easy to love Meanwhile husk absolutely adores him, flaws and all, and just wants to understand his partner better and be there for him So he constantly tries to get Angel to talk After a couple drinks, or during late nights, or after nightmares. He's always there, he's always listening, and he always wants to help. But he never gets very far, because Angel is just so terrified of being too broken for him And so one night, Husk is walking to their shared room to turn in for the night. He hasn't spoken to Angel all night, Angel came home from work and walked straight past the bar and to their room without a word. And so Husk is like, trudging back to their room all sad mopey wet cat-like. (Yk, his natural state.) And he hears Angel crying and, rushes inside and is like, "Are you okay, what's going on?"

And Angel's like "Husk! Oh shit. No, I'm fine. It's fine" and he's wiping away tears and like, sniffling, insisting he's fine. And Husk is like, "But you don't have to be. I'm here for you. I WANT to be here for you. I want to help. Talk to me. Tell me what's going on?"

And Angel's like, "You've got enough on your plate already. I don't want you to have to take care of me on top of that. Worry about yourself first. Really, I'm okay. Everything's fine, just a hard day at work"

And Husk goes "This IS me worrying about myself. i don't have anything else in my life nearly as important to me as you. I hate seeing you like this, so upset. It upsets me too…" and he's like, reaching out his hand as he's talking going to hold Angel

But when Angel hears him say that, he pulls back and interrupts and goes "WHAT? NO! Please, it's fine. I'M fine. Don't be upset. There's nothing to worry about. Everything's fine…" And Husk just loses it and goes, "I CAN'T DO THIS ANYMORE! I may have a hell of a lot of patience, but even I have my limits. I'm trying to HELP Angel. I CARE ABOUT YOU. And all you ever seem to do is push me away…" And Angel interrupts and is like, "I just- Don't wanna be too much for ya. I've never done this before. i've never had this before. I don’t know what to do with it? I don't wanna be too hard to love- " And Husk is absolutely infuriated by the idea that Angel can't see that he could Never be too much. That Husk would destroy himself entirely for Angel. He loses himself in his anger. "You can't keep pushing people away, they're only willing to push back so many times. I can take the nightmares. I can take the crying. I can take the lashing out and the flashbacks and Fuck I can understand the addiction. What I can't take is you lying. Hiding it. Acting like you're fine all the time. And pushing away the only person in this goddamned hotel who cares about you." There's a beat of silence, filled only with Angel's sniffling, and ended by a heavy sigh from Husk. "You know what Angel? Maybe you were right. Maybe you are too hard to love." And he turns around. And leaves.

Huskerdust time travel-ish angst au where during the extermination Angel gets killed saving Husk and he dies in front of him. It's a whole emotional affair with husk calling him stupid for throwing himself in the way like that, and Angel laughing while coughing up blood and saying something along the lines of how this loser's time is up so "go give 'em hell for me, whiskers"

After the extermination the two hotel residents are dead and everyone is shaken, having a memorial for them and grieving, but husk takes it the hardest. He knows he only recently started considering the spider his friend, and it feels like a piece of him left.

Afterlife goes on with charlie and the others trying to pick up the pieces with resuming trying to redeem sinners, but husk is filled with grief. Just walking past the vacant room that used to be Angel's hurts his heart, but he still takes it upon himself to take care of Fat Nuggets. Sometimes he even goes into Angel's room, keeps niffty away so she won't try to tidy the mess because it's the only thing that makes it looked lived in and not sterile, as if Angel had packed up and left.

When the next extermination rolls around (waaaaaay sooner this time, as a retaliation from the exocists for Adam's death), husk does not fight with vigor. He knows that throwing away the life that Angel sacrificed himself for is stupid, but he just doesn't have it in him, and as soon as that angelic spear tears through his chest, he accepts it.

Except, when things go dark, similar to when he died the first time, but then it's a wash of colors and haziness until he's....back at the hotel? He's confused, he was just dying a second ago, and there were exorcists swarming for revenge, but now he's back at the bar, being greeted by alastor while the deer demon for some reason is introducing him to everyone. And then he freezes because amongst everyone, Angel is there, the same person who he's been grieving for months, here alive.

It takes only a little disbelief before he comes to terms with the fact that for some reason he's been sent back to his very first day at the hotel. He's stunned beyond belief but there's a bit of catharsis because Angel is here, smiling and flirting and not soaked in blood and fading out of existence. He doesn't know what this is, a second chance or whatever, but he decides to go on like before, except now he's a little nicer to Angel, less judgy, than he was before their heart to heart outside of the bar.

Angel of course takes notice of how the barcat treats him good, so that must mean he wants him or something, so more flirting, less of husk calling him fake, Angel one night saying "why you so sweet on me, huh?" And they have a heart to heart similar to the first time, except afterwards it ends up with Angel kissing husk, and husk is realizing then that this time he's catching feelings for Angel, all the while dreading when extermination day comes but also vowing to fight harder during it.

Idk just something my sleep deprived brain had me puke out, it's up for grabs btw

WOE, HUSKERDUST ANGST BE UPON YE!

This is based on a dream I had and the basic context, stripping away the Dream Crack™️, is that during a battle Husk was badly hurt and ended up in a coma, the others unsure if he’d survive. Angel, who was officially dating Husk at this point, was informed of this when he returned to the group after narrowly escaping a dangerous situation.

Understandably, he was hit hard by the horror and grief. It was absolutely tearing him apart. But he wouldn’t drink, and he wouldn’t use. He wouldn’t turn to drugs or alcohol because he wanted to be awake and aware, he wanted to be sharp, no, not wanted, needed to be, because he had to be sober if Husk woke up, he had to know he could be there for him the instant he opened his eyes. And if he did numb himself with drugs and alcohol, it would be like admitting that Husk was really gone for good. And no way in hell was he doing that.

So he turned instead to buying five jars of this honey-nut-sesame spread and eating it out of the jar. Alastor then showed up, sent by Charlie to look after Angel, and immediately began to question his choice of comfort food (though to his credit he did attempt to be polite about it). So Angel yelled at him :3

Anyhoo might polish this up and add to the story and make it a proper fic, who knows. Already have some ideas✨

HEAR ME OUT!!!

Goddess by laufey and Angel.

IT FITS SO WELL bc tell me that's not how how most of his fans see him, how most people see him; a caricaturized version of him that they idolize and eventually become disappointed in when all the glamour of ‘angel dust’ wears off and they are left with the human, ugly version of him.

This is specially sadder if it's huskerdust angst. Because imagine a clean angel that, because he's human and he makes mistakes, relapses and husk just can't help but have a bad reaction to it, unintentional or not, he, like others in the hotel, created a ‘perfect victim’ out of him, that they expected to never see fail, or fall again, just because he was finally doing so well.

Angel can't take the disappointment of the others, the disappointment in himself, and consequently this takes a toll in him and Husk's relationship, because he thought, out of all people, he would be the one to understand.

Au where alastor goes after angel dust instead of husk and paints what he did to husk in a way that shows husk very unfavorably and angel relies on alastor more and more while becoming crueler to husk and husk never has that insight moment where he realizes he and angel have a lot in common so husk just thinks hes an asshole so is helpless to do anything while his life becomes more a living hell than previously

So I've seen the huskerdust theory that Husk would gamble to get Angel's soul back. However, I'd like to offer an alternative. Angel gambles Alastor for Husk's soul. Not only are these higher stakes because Angel doesn't probably have as good as gambling skills as Husk. He could offer Alastor his life, which Alastor might take because it would mess with Val, which would mess with Vox. Think of Husk having to watch a game that he can't have anything to do. He can't use his skills to help his beloved. The angst he would feel and the fear of losing Angel. I think it would make for a very juicy story and I might have to write that. It's written!
