Five Common Branding Mistakes Startups Make and Effective Strategies to Avoid Them
The journey of creating a startup is filled with excitement and anticipation. Amid all the hustle of building a business from scratch, it's easy for branding to become an afterthought. However, effective branding is integral to the success of your startup. It lays the foundation for your reputation and influences how customers perceive your business.
Tumblr media
But navigating the world of branding can be complex. Here are five common mistakes startups often make in their branding strategies, and how you can sidestep them.
Mistake #1: Inconsistency in Branding
Inconsistent branding is akin to a misaligned compass - it leaves your target audience confused and directionless. Inconsistency can arise in visual design elements, tone of voice, or messaging across various platforms.
Solution: Develop a comprehensive brand guideline. This should detail everything from your logo and color palette to your brand voice and typography. Consistency creates a strong brand identity that resonates with your audience and sets you apart from the competition.
Mistake #2: Ignoring the "Why" Behind Your Brand
Many startups focus heavily on what they offer and how they offer it, forgetting to communicate why they exist in the first place. Without understanding your 'why', your audience may struggle to connect with your brand on a deeper level.
Solution: Revisit your brand's mission and vision. Why does your brand exist? What problem does it solve? What values does it stand for? Once you have clarity on these, make sure they are clearly communicated in all your branding materials.

tbh i think that even unwinnable fights should be winnable. some of the BEST fights i've ever run as a dm were ones i built kill the players (in a fun way. I had some cutscenes prepped so even the loss would be a different flavour of win)- but then they were clever bastards and managed to either win the fights or pull themselves out of trouble. I think it's perfectly fine to plan for a fight that players aren't supposed to win, but you need to let them. if they can't win, they can't lose, and the meaning of that encounter is diminished. do that too many times, and they stop trusting you to give them roleplay prompts and start expecting to sit there waiting while you drive the story for them.
but if they can win... if there is always the chance to win, no matter how impossible the odds, then they ALWAYS have hope. they always get invested. they feel the big emotions of success or the big emotions of failure, and you fucking Win as a dm/roleplay prompter/lead bastard.

fascinated by the implied fennec-ventress-phee friend group in tbb. even more interesting (funny) when you add boba in there during the tbobf era.
#star wars#tbb#the bad batch#tbobf#tbb phee#fennec shand#boba fett#asajj ventress#bossk#black krrsantan#i think fennec is literally the only one of bobas friends shorter than him lol#phee is normal about it#ventress on the other hand#she is like 6 ft tall she is using everyone as an armrest#okay but. now that boba is at actual war with the pikes#ventress is probably the best possible ally for the situation#like one. LIGHTSABERS AND THE FORCE#two. shes already on the pikes bad side; she has no rep to lose with the pikes if she does help boba#three. nobody in bobas entire retinue knows how to command anything larger than a small strike team#between boba fennec and krrsantan they're a full team of lone wolf solo hunters#they can barely coordinate a four person team let alone an army big enough to fight the pikes#in that last battle in bobf iirc boba straight up disappeared and returend with a rancor kaijuing everything with 0 warning to his friends#and they just kind of lost track of the shiny vespa gang#anything larger than krayts claw and boba just. loses everybody#he's busy fighting not looking for people!#on the other hand theres ventress who has several years of commanding literal millions of droids in massive-scale battles#boba: listen ill forget about quarzite if you help. please. i have an army and no clue what to do with it#boba: my friends dont know either i already asked#phee is their resident smuggler (very very useful when dealing with pike spice trade) and probably knows all the tattooine pike routes#boba please. you need some diversity on your team. you can't fight a war with eight solo assassins smushed together.

Every fucking westerner, and easterner, and both southerners and northeners too, on this god forsaken website, who said anything at all about how the world manages to discern politics from art for Ukraine but not other nations or ethnicities, based on, idk, Russians being banned from Eurovision which is surely because Ukrainians are white, and not, you know, the full-scale invasion that happened in the ninth year of Russian war against Ukraine, the ninth year of my hometown being occupied, and is still ongoing, and is a real fucking genocide on the scale unseen in Europe since WWII or Serbia, owes me, personally, to donate to a charity of their choosing:
Donate to Come Back Alive Foundation (life-saving defense)
Donate to Leleka Foundation (life-saving medical supplies)
(do not, under any circumstances, donate to Red Cross)

hi! i sell my art online and i saw your post about ethical production for small businesses. i agree it's really important and i hadn't thought enough about where i get my materials. i'm looking into how the materials i use are made and researching the best places to source them. do you have any advice, information, or guidelines on how to do this? (i mostly am trying to figure out ink and paper/cardstock, as well as envelopes/packaging, if it's ok to be specific.) thank you for making your post, it's something i think a lot of people can overlook
hey! unfortunatly it can be hard if not impossible to source every material used 100% ethically. especially as a small business. personally i at least try to make up for that by buying as locally as possible or at least looking for things made in europe since i´m the most familiar with labor laws and conditions here (i´m european so that makes the most sense for me).
it´s important to consider where you get material from but also be realistic with how much control you have over those. i can´t realistically know how everything i need to make and ship my plushies comes from.
that´s not 100% related to material but if you ship most of your orders also make sure to check your carrier options and if you can opt for the one with the best standards for their employees
at the end just try to do the best with the steps of the process you can controll!
