“I want to dye my hair,” Nico said one day in the middle of a round of Mythomagic.

“What color?”

“Haven’t decided yet.”

“Well, I think you’d look nice with any color.” When Nico didn’t play, Ariel finally looked up at him with a grin. “What’s wrong? Stumped?” No, that wasn’t it. Nico was staring at Ariel, and he could definitely do some damage without having to play anything. Ariel’s expression fell. “What is it?”

“I want your help dying my hair.”

They finished their game (Ariel would feel bad leaving in the middle) and Ariel’s mom took the demigods to Walmart. After a bit of debating, they decided to get purple, and both boys would get some hair dye. “It’ll match your sword!” Ariel had said about the color.

Ariel hummed as he took everything out of the box, Nico looking into the mirror as if he was terrified. “Let me see the instructions, I want to do it,” he asked. Figuring it would calm his friend down, Ariel shrugged and handed the sheet over, but he didn’t get his hand back.

“I thought you just wanted the instructions,” he chuckled. Nico didn’t look up, but Ariel noticed his ears and cheeks got a little bit darker.

“Well, I need your hand too.”

“You need to hold my hand to read the instructions?”

“It helps me concentrate! Hard enough as is.” Nico muttered the last part.

“Aw, I knew you liked me!” Ariel grinned at Nico, who looked at him with a baffled expression.

“We’ve been dating for a month, of course I like you!”

Ariel giggled and kissed Nico’s cheek. “Yeah, I know.”

Like the candy, these girls are sweet and colorful but too hard to bite without risking dental damage. In order from top left to bottom right:

Solana Banks | Sunbird or Solarwing; formerly Sol: leader and multitasking queen. You'd never suspect she was an alien given how she acts

Aviva Santos | Catseye; formerly Copycat: second-in-command and resident shapeshifter. Still a mall lover all these years later

Azriel Morningstar | Ghoul: expert in all things demonology and supernatural. Daughter of the Devil, literally.
