Deep Dreamless Sleep
an excerpt from Trauma and Dissociation Informed Internal Family Systems by Joanne H. Twombly.
Coping Skill: Deep Dreamless Healing Sleep or Therapeutic Sleep (Kluft, 1988)
This is a coping skill that is easy for many parts to learn. As with SSI, I ask one part to volunteer to try it out and ask all others who are willing to watch to learn how to do it. Once a part volunteers, I speak with that part, or I work with that part through an older part with some Self energy. Deep dreamless sleep provides parts with a deep rest without nightmares, useful because so many of these clients have trouble sleeping. In this example a child part has volunteered to try it, and the example provides suggestions for wording. It begins with me talking directly to the child part.
Hi, thanks for volunteering. Do you have any questions or concerns right now, or is it okay to go to your safe space?... Great, look around and notice everything there that makes it safe, and that there's a comfortable place to rest, where you can relax, as you start feeling sleepy... First I'm going to explain what we're going to do and if you've got any questions, let me know. I'm going to count backwards from 10 to 1, and as I count, you'll fall gently asleep, and by the time I reach I you'll be in a deep dreamless healing sleep. I'll watch the clock, and when 5 minutes is up, you can wake up -actually, if you want to wake up sooner, that's ok too, or the other parts can wake you up. Is that ok? Great... so, 10...9 feeling comfortable and sleepy...at 8 and 7... gently sleeping...at 6 and 5 in a deep dreamless sleep.. and going deeper and deeper at 4 and 3... at 2.. and 1 in a deep dreamless healing sleep…
Then, orient to the other parts and check in with them: While this part is sleeping, I'd like to check in with the rest of you. First, how does she look?... What's this like for you having her asleep? Any questions? Any other comments?...
Note: I watch the clock carefully for whatever time we've agreed on.
Okay, 5 minutes is up right now, is she awake yet? No? Okay, could one of you wake her up... I prefer to have the parts take control and wake her. Then I address the part: So what was that like for you?
Example: A client planned to visit her parents. 3 parts were terrified.
They agreed to sleep through the visit, which helped the client manage the visit with less agitation.
Example: One woman had been hospitalized every May for seven years. We identified a group of 50 baby parts who got triggered in May. They didn't want to be hospitalized again and agreed to sleep from the end of April to the beginning of June. We went through the deep dreamless sleep process and then, when they were deeply asleep added: You'll have all the time you need to feel rested and relaxed and although calendar time will be passing it will feel like only a short amount of time has passed... This is a time when I forgot to ask if any other parts had concerns. Two days later, I got a call from a terrified teenage part whose job was to babysit the babies. She calmed down when I explained where they were. The next session, she and several other teen parts asked if they could also sleep through May. Of note, the client made it through May without hospitalization. She also realized that having the baby and teen parts asleep meant she suddenly had to do all of the "boring" filing at work. She had not been aware that they had been taking care of this for her. Note the use of the hypnotic dynamic of Time Distortion.

nothing annoys me more than when i make every fucking effort to watch a movie legally and either it's not on a single streaming service i pay for or it's somewhere weird like "max channels on prime" rather than just hbo max, or kanopy but not through MY library, so i fire up my vpn (legal) and check canada services (legal) and - yay! it's on plex! which definitely doesn't care about vpns since it's like bootleg adjacent anyway (not my problem). so i head over and it loads up great (legal) but vpns won't chromecast properly so it just freezes up and like yes in that case i am forced to use solarm*vies or t*rrent sorry fbi. i really tried! i really really tried!

This article tells us that the environmental review of the project was conducted by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Based on my experience with the IDNR, any species that was to be protected was doomed once the IDNR got involved. That department is as corrupt as any in Illinois, if not more so because it’s generally hiding in the bushes. Of course the IDNR was going to take care of the corporation owning and operating the Chicago History Museum and the construction companies that were going to construct the renovations.
Congratulations Chicago and Illinois. You’ve proven you’re as corrupt as the news media says you are.
Excerpt from this story from the National Geographic:
In 2021, the museum broke ground on an effort to modernize its shaded lawns. The project included the construction of a walking trail with signs highlighting Chicago history, the installation of native plantings, and the reinforcement of the ceiling above its leaky underground archives. The work was designed, in part, to make the space a more attractive venue for high-dollar events like weddings and fundraisers.
The area, however, was also adjacent to a long-standing breeding ground for at least 45 pairs of black-crowned night herons, which are listed as endangered in the state of Illinois. Museum officials were not only aware of the herons, staff and visitors even enjoyed having an endangered bird’s rookery on the museum’s grounds.
“The birds had been around for a while,” John Russick, senior vice president of the museum, told National Geographic. “It was kind of cool that they were here.”
Yet museum officials appeared to minimize possible damage to the birds’ rookery that a major construction project would cause. Based on the museum’s limited assessment of the birds, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources conducted a brief environmental review and found the renovation posed little risk of disruption to the herons. Teams of workers arrived in March of 2021, just before the herons’ annual springtime nesting season. The crews operated loud equipment at times only a few yards from the rookery.
Soon after, the birds abandoned their nests. Weeks later, crows were seen scavenging on dead nestlings. In 2022, a handful of male herons returned to the site, but after failing to attract mates, they left.

"how have you been? are you ... doing okay?" she feels bad that karen had to get mixed up in, well, everything. especially when the other girl's been so kind through it all. it feels right to check in with her.

Help Stop a Clearcut - Deadline May 17, 2024! Reblogs appreciated!
Hey, folks, got a time-sensitive request for y'all--even if you aren't a PNW resident, can you please put in a word to save the legacy/mature forest on Mothball Hill just outside Astoria, OR? Comments to NOT clearcut the forest on Mothball Hill can be sent to [email protected] and need to be received by 5pm Pacific Standard Time on May 17. Reblogs ALSO help!
As per this article:
"North Coast Communities for Watershed Protection requests your consideration and immediate action to help safeguard drinking water and residents’ health in rural neighborhoods east of Astoria. Written comments are needed by Friday, May 17, regarding ongoing and upcoming Oregon Department of Forestry timber harvests in Clatsop County. Anybody may submit a comment to ODF; you do not need to be a resident of Clatsop County. Please see below for more details.
Currently, the NCCWP Astoria Chapter is working to notify residents whose property is in close proximity to proposed 2025 ODF timber harvests in Clatsop County. On May 5, we surveyed Unit 2 of the Mothball Hill Harvest and met some of the concerned residents whose property is immediately adjacent to the timber sale. We are working with them closely.
Leading up to the May 17 deadline for comments about the ODF Annual Operations Plan (AOP), we are hoping to visit as many of these sites as possible — knocking on people’s doors directly adjacent to these potential timber harvests. Many people who live in these houses may not be aware that the forestland near their homes is scheduled to be clearcut and sprayed with a “cocktail” of pesticides. Our goal is to notify these homeowners and provide them with appropriate resources and support so that they can get involved and comment on the AOP before the opportunity ends. These clearcuts and pesticide applications may directly affect people’s health, livelihoods, recreational activities, and property values. Ultimately, they will adversely affect the quality and quantity of coastal drinking water by exacerbating the climate crisis, perpetuating drought, and increasing the risk of wildfires, landslides, and the runoff of sediment and pesticides into waterways.
Here’s a letter sent to community members, ODF, BoF, and Clatsop Co. officials from Darren Orange, a resident neighboring the Mothball Hill Harvest:
A request for your consideration and action,
The Oregon Department Of Forestry released their 2024 Annual Operations Plan and has selected a previously unmanaged, non-intentionally planted, natural “Legacy Forest” for CLEARCUT AND AERIAL SPRAY. The location is in Clatsop Forest Astoria District on “Mothball Hill” east of Astoria in the John Day estuary. This proposed clearcut will impact a previously unmanaged biodiverse forest with trees, and mycorrhizal networks well over 100 years old. The geographical location is extremely steep and the boundaries for cutting would push into the Columbia River at its northernmost point. Slide potential is high, threatening the railroad, and homes both on private drive Phil Rd., Highway 30, and Deer Valley Rd.
Located between Astoria, (2 miles to the west) and the Twilight Eagle Sanctuary (2 miles to the east) this rich habitat and watershed is home for bald eagles, beaver, blue heron, cougar, bobcat, coyotes, and waterways for native salmon.  The year-round streams run directly into the John Day and Columbia Rivers. The location will be seen on Highway 30, and visible from both rivers as a monstrous scab.
The home and hobby garden I share with my wife borders 300′ of Clatsop Forest. Neon survey markers now weigh heavily, glaring at us 20′ from our kitchen window. Trees marked for cut purposely planted by homeowners over 50 years ago as property lines now marked for harvest. We watch: protected migratory birds, marine birds, bald eagles, blue heron, osprey, and others. We’ve listened to the call of bobcats and coyotes from their resting and breeding dens. We’ve seen beavers in the estuary. Salmon and crayfish are commercially harvested here. The rich native flora and mycelium network show the health of the forest and offer many plant medicines. This is just a window of the species we see everyday.
The impact and damage on this ecosystem is vast. The unintended consequences of aerial spray, blowdown due to compromised forest integrity, slides, and aesthetic harm to private property value, boating/kayaking and tourism, commercial and recreational fishing are all part of the cost vs minimal $1.1 million dollar profit.
PUBLIC COMMENTS ARE ENCOURAGED, AND CLOSE VERY SOON ON MAY 17TH!
I’m asking the greater community to please write and pass along your concerns to the Oregon Department of Forestry about this clearcut timber sale in one of the oldest stands in the area. This stand has not been managed or replanted so it represents a key forest in its health and history. I ask that ODF look into alternative locations such as managed/planted forests with less impactful methods that follow the soon to be Federal Habitat Conservation Act that would preserve older stands. I ask that ODF follow their own Key Performance Measures of complex layered forest structure. I ask ODF NOT TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THIS TIMBER SALE.
Sincerely,
Darren Orange

Detailed Backstory: Zil-e-Qamar was the adopted daughter of Valakos and Breessa, a couple of Faerûnian tiefling merchants who permanently resided in Ajayib, the City of Wonders in the Land of Fate Zakhara. Zil had a childhood of relative comfort and ease, not wanting for anything. Ever a curious child, sometimes too nosy for her own good, she spent her childhood between school, helping her parents with trading and inventorying the goods they received from Faerûn, and exploring the caves upon which the city had been built. She was a brilliant young woman, with an incandescent personality and a silver tongue and cheeky personality that could easily charm the people around her. She wouldn't take “no” for an answer, especially when embarking on a quest to discover and learn about all manner of topics, though her interest always dwelled on Magic and all its different aspects and how they intertwined and connect.
Ajayib, despite being the cradle that sweetly protected her throughout her most tender years, had very little to offer to her ever-growing thirst for knowledge. Soon enough, she made preparations to move to the Capital of the Land of Fate, Golden Huzuz. After being admitted to the Home of the Seekers of Knowledge, the Great University of Al-Bidir Sallah in the City of Delight, she enrolled in the College of Magic to expand upon her knowledge and understanding of how magic worked. She was a hardworking student, with her nose always buried in any book she could put her hands on. It was around this time that she became a devotee of Zann the Learned, the God that oversaw Learning and Intelligence.
Eventually, under the advice of Imam Renn min Zann, her mentor at the University, she sought to learn more about who she was and where she stood in the world. She enrolled for a period in the College of Fine Arts, taking classes about non-Zakharan history and costumes in the hope of discovering more about her origins. After graduating and deciding to continue her studies as a scholar, she took up the position of Scribe for the Imam, and it was during that time that she met Halim Ibn Tariq, a well-renowned Sha'ir and Vizier of Huzuz, advisor to Grand Vizier Alyana al-Azzazi, in a diplomatic visit to the University to report of its state to the Grand Vizier.
Having been assigned to be the Vizier’s guide, Zil found herself intrigued by this physically imposing yet apparently kind and soft-spoken man, who had all the authority that was expected of a man of his station and background, yet possessed none of the arrogance, a man of exceptional moral strength and vivacious intelligence, known for his even temper and warm laughter.
On his side, Halim also found himself fascinated by the young drow, the first he ever had the chance to speak with in his life, with her pale eyes always twinkling with curiosity, her insatiable need for knowledge, and her mischievous way of flirting with him. He found her company pleasant and when away for his duties, he found himself unable to stop thinking about her and her beguiling, infectious smile. Despite their mutual interest, they both believed that, due to the Vizier’s busy life and Zil’s own duties, the few meetings they had at the University were destined to remain as such. Yet, Halim extended an invitation to her to seek him out if she ever needed anything, either a favour or even just his company. Little did Halim know about Zil’s own resilience and way of making things happen the way she wanted. Zil applied to become a Scribe in the service of Grand Vizier Al-Azzazi, to be closer to the man who had completely captivated her. She obtained the position, thanks to her own merits and partially thanks to the good recommendation of the Imam. In time, Zil and Halim became friends and started to spend more and more time together, their mutual attraction growing and blossoming like the beautiful lilies that bloomed in the pans surrounding Hazuz when the rains blessed the city. It grew until being far away from each other felt more torturous than standing underneath the ruthless Zakharan Sun at noon without shade.
With the blessing of the Grand Caliph himself, they married and spent more than 10 years of blissful happiness. But the Court of Enlightenment was not devoid of intrigue, and Halim, with his progressive philosophies and advocacy to abolish the common practice of trading slaves, had drawn upon itself the malcontent of the slave owners in the Caravan District. He had fallen victim to a ploy that resulted in an incrimination for corruption and bribery.
Zil knew that her husband was innocent, having worked closely with him for all those years, and tried with all the means she had available to find who was behind all that scheming and bring them to justice to clear her husband’s name. But before she could do anything of substance, she was apprehended and charged with the accusation of being complicit and accessory to all of Halim’s crimes. Despite all her efforts, despite all her begging, she couldn’t find the resources she needed fast enough, and the accusations against her husband transmuted from corruption to treason that warranted a death sentence without appeal.
All Zil could do was witness the execution from her cell, not leaving her husband’s eyes for one moment, not even when the blade of the executioner came down and shattered her entire heart in the process.
Alone in her damp cell, shell-shocked and broken, Zil waited all night for her own sentence to pass, wishing with all her might that the moment would come soon enough so that she could be reunited with her husband once more. But, much to her dismay, during the darkest hour that preceded the arrival of dawn, the Grand Vizier herself showed up in her cell, maintaining complete secrecy.
All she carried with her was a note, carved in her husband’s handwriting, and the promise that, as a last favor to Halim, she would see Zil out of Huzuz safely. Zil escaped her own death, thanks to her husband’s foresight and protection, and fled away from the Golden City and beyond Zakhara, finally reaching distant Faerûn.
After Halim’s death, Zil assumed a new name, Aranea Baelfaer, and turned to every god and goddess in the pantheon, begging, imploring, and beseeching all of them to grant her the power to vindicate her husband and to see him one last time. But all her prayers and supplications fell into a deafening silence that reeked of contempt. Enraged with the gods for letting something like this befall a man as virtuous, kind, and compassionate as her husband, she didn’t give up and persistently sought the means to gain the power she needed, her mind and resolve sharpened by grief and rage.
Her obsession and focus would reach such heights that they resonated all across the Weave until they attracted the Patron who would finally answer her call and grant her the power she desired: Mephistopheles. Most treasured possession: Her husband’s jambiya dagger and a lock of his dark hair that she wore braided in her own; the last letter that he wrote her, that she re-read every single night before going to sleep.
Sexual and/or romantic situation: After Halim’s death, she decided to forgo any kind of romantic relationship, absolutely refusing to run the risk of facing the same type of pain she went through when her husband was killed. In her grief, she asked Mephistopheles to actually freeze her heart, putting it in a stasis. As a wager between the two of them, Mephistopheles added a small clause that declared if someone were ever able to thaw her frozen heart, she would lose her powers, her soul would be his and the contract would be considered fulfilled regardless of whether she had reached her vengeance or not. Zil humored him, secure in her belief that no one on Toril would ever be able to ever ignite the flame in her dead heart again. Last famous words indeed. Favourite place in Faerûn: She doesn’t truly have one. She finds Faerun excessively cold and humid. But if she were to choose one, it would be the Great Harbor of Waterdeep, from where she can see the City. What makes them happiest: She likes to create small illusions of her memories of her years in Zakhara and stare at them, wishing with all her might that they were more than just echoes from a distant time.   What makes them angriest: Any uncalled mentioning of her late husband was enough to provoke at best a death glare and at worst an outburst of pure ire. She didn’t appreciate talking about her past or about him with anyone, for her memories of him are hers and hers alone. What makes them laugh: She rarely laughed from the heart. But something that did make her laugh and gave her comfort was hearing children’s laughter. It reminded her of simpler times. Biggest secret: Who her Patron is and the terms and conditions of her pact with him. Obsession: Revenge. She sold her soul to Mephistopheles in order to gain the power she needed to grow as powerful as she needed to be and hunt down and kill whoever was involved in Halim’s betrayal and death. If the Gods didn’t want to help her in the path of vengeance, then the might of the Archdevils would.

soooo.
While on vacation, I had sometime to properly sit down and finally write Aranea's (or should I say Zil's?) proper bio, alongside working on her infographic (and I am SO HAPPY with how it turned out. I love doing this kind of things, I have done so many that I haven't shared lol).
I still need to add a few things as I keep playing the game, which is the reason why I haven't written anything about her current relationship with Gale, the other companions, or the Dream Guardian. But as I proceed, I will update this (or make another post, we shall see) and fill in what is missing.
In the meantime, thank you for reading her profile and I hope you will love this brainchild of mine just as much as I love her <3

Finally posting about the Omegas and Giant's Lair in the AU
After the Rain of Fire and the disappearance of the "giants," awakened bugs weren't the only thing that showed up. Omegas came around as well. They are heron-like birds which are mostly bone and struggle to stay alive due to how delicate their immune systems are.
Because of this, most flock to shelter like the Giant's Lair and fight over the resources and territory within it. To keep themselves safe from each other and illness they use whatever's left in the lair to build themself some armor. Alan's is made from computer parts and electronics, B's is from table cloths and small parts, and C's is taken from a grandfather clock

Hey Martyn! So, I got into your lore because of Grian's Life Series, and now I'm just trying to find some stuff out. Anyways, I understand most of it, though I do have a couple questions.
What actually are LOOT shards/crystals? I know that they're soke aort of corruption in games of sorta, but how do they get there, how to they affect the game, and also how to disable them. It's just something I'm wondering about since I know you have to find the one piece, of treasure, but how does it actually help?
What are CHEST agents? I know that they're something almost as evil as Cruppy, which is really saying something, but what actually are they?
Are there any extra lore bits in Rats SMP that you can't get anywhere else? I just wanna know if I should grit my teeth and watch it sometime, when I'm done catching up on the VODs of Pirates (can't make it to streams for personal reasons, alas).
If you've come up with it, is there any way that the Watchers lore from the Life Series ties into the datastream hopper lore? Those two just seem a little incompatible to me - hopping the datastream, being captured by mysterious godlike entities... Or are they just two separate universes?
Do you plan on posting the New Life streams on your vods channel?
Who in Pirates is p!Martyn closest to in each faction, overall?
Also, I think you may have mentioned it on stream, but did you take the faction quiz and if so, which faction did you get? I kid you not, when I took it I got Kestrels all three times (with changing the answers to stuff that I would still do, but different than first time, I mean). Had to change it up just to see all the different faction descriptions...
Ok, I think that's it. Sorry if I have bad formatting btw, I'm typing this out on phone. Thank you for taking the time to read my questions! Absolutely love your work and lore, while at the same time having the humour some don't. Keep on doing an amazing job. Hope you find your one piece, of treasure.
Have an ice day!
That's something I want to unveil in the next lore drop, so I'm really sorry to say SoonTM but this lore doesn't have all that many secrets atm
2. C.H.E.S.T agents work are avatars controlled by human operators working for C.H.E.S.T and its evil underbelly. They're a known and trusted public computing corporation but the public doesn't know the full extent of their goals and resources
3. I try to be pretty concise and unavoidable when I do my lore stuff, so you should be able to find the Rats segments in this playlist with ease: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3MFbfp1zo8dooC57HqfbizRoc07PdlFQ
4. Maaaaaaybe, people have noticed some parallels / links and all shall be revealed one day for sure, even if I'm like gonna quit doing videos and streaming, I'd just lore dump whatever isn't revealed so it's out there ha
5. A lot of my New Life streams are me just doing the grindy parts of the SMP and with the server being somewhat inactive I want to save the crossover / collab content for the videos - I'm not sure people would flock to a 3 hour vod of me painfully and slowly building an outpost or hollowing out a mountain to make a factory ya know?
6. Kestrels - probably Sausage, with Oli as a close second. Herons - Owen or Water. Owen has an inquisitive gene like Martyn and Water likes all things musical. Nightingales - Ros is so different to Martyn that it makes for some wholesome and chaotic interations, you never know which you'll get. Kites - Bek is basically the only one he's interacted with, he had a little banter on the seas with Kuervo but it was brief
7. I did! I surprisingly got Kestrel, or I guess, not surprisingly huh?

Ship in a Bottle Pt.1
(We doing something different this time! A borrower au with Private Scosage because I like cute smol things, plus this is a birthday gift for my online older brother, Auto!)
(Warnings: Fearplay Possessive behavior)
It had been a normal night for Scott. He had made the two day trip to the town of the Faction Isles to gather some essential resources for a borrower such as himself, something that the Herons had sorely lacked. Don’t get him wrong, his fellow herons, as he affectionately calls them, are great. They have plenty of food and fresh water that he’ll never go hungry or thirsty. But snagging a spare fish hood or thread was impossible when they only bought what they needed, rarely having extra.
Scott had just finished raiding Missy’s storage for some string, tying it to the new hook he had borrowed from Hook’s supplies the previous night. Deciding to test the new hook, Scott threw the hook onto a crate, the hook catching on the wooden ledge. Tugging the rope a little bit to test if it was anchored down, began climbing up the rope. Scott was pleased to find the string was thick and strong like he had hope, easily supporting his weight. Once Scott reached the top of the crate, Scott admired the view.
The crate he stood upon was on the side of the tavern. From here, Scott could see the whole town square and the pier beyond in the early evening. The sight took his breath away, his tail flicking in wonder. Idly he thought if humans saw this every night. Scott was knocked out of his head by the sound of glass shattered inside the tavern and loud drunken laughter.
Oh right. He still had to be careful.
The downside of living on the Isle is that pirates don’t have proper sleep schedules, making it difficult to borrow at any time. But luckily for Scott he was born and raised on this island so he quite used to it.
What he wasn’t quite used to was drunk sailors stumbling around.
Scott made a surprised squeak as two Kestrels exited the tavern singing drunken sea shanties, one of them knocking into the crate he was standing on. Scott stumbled as the crate started to tip, making Scott go with it.
Scott didn’t have time to scream as he fell and hit the stone ground, just barely missed being crushed by the fallen crate. Wincing, Scott stood up, checking himself over. He was relieved to find a few bruises but nothing serious. Scott scooped up his satchel and secured it safely to his body before momentarily relaxing.
“I think I might have drank too much Sausage because I’m seeing a little humanoid rat.”
Scott froze at the human voice, glazing up, only to lock eyes with two very drunk humans staring down at him. Scott felt as though his legs had turned to stone. His instincts screamed at him to move! But he remained firmly planted.
“How dare you call that fine little fellow a rat Oli! He’s too cute to be a mere rat.” The other human, Sausage, replied. “He’s cute enough to be a gem!”
Scott snapped out of his frozen state by the comment, a blush crawling up his face and turning his ear tips red. Shaking his head, Scott booked it into the grass, pointedly ignoring the drunken shouting. Once far away enough and knowing the human had stopped following, Scott leaned against the wall of stone, catching his breath.
That had been way too close for comfort, Scott thought.
Luckily they were probably drunk enough to forget about him, he decided. Scott sighed and began the long journey back toward Heron base. As he walked he couldn’t help but think about how handsome the human, Sausage had been. —————————————————————————————————
The next time Scott had an encounter with Sausage, it was at the Kestrel’s base.
While Scott preferred to avoid the Kestrel’s base like the plague due to how meticulously they handled their treasures, it had to be done. Scott was a simple borrower but after finding out that is long lost brother, Acho, had returned and was residing at the Nightingales, Scott knew he had to give him something special.
Currently Scott was in the kitchen of the faction base, browsing the selection of fine imported foods that seemed to be littered around carelessly around the counters. He glanced over at the odd orange and pink fuzzy fruit that smell sweeter then anything Scott had a pleasure of eating but decided that it was definitely way too big. Moving on, he examined a bunch of small red berries with green leaf tops with seeds outside of them. He sniffed them as was pleased to find they were also sweet, his tail swaying as he picked one up but then paused as he was about to put it in his satchel.
It was well passed midnight, so it surprised Scott as the glow of a touch appeared on the wall. He quickly dropped the unusual berry and quickly hid in an overturned wooden mug. The mug shook slightly as human footsteps approached his hiding place. Scott held his breath as he coward, silently pleading to the universe that he wouldn’t be found.
Unfortunately for Scott, his pleads when unanswered as the mug was grabbed. Scott tumbled out onto the counter in plain view of the human. The human made a horrible screech that had Scott’s ears ringing before he was rudely hit over the head with the wooden mug. The last thought Scott had before everything went black was ‘Shit.”
——————————————————————————————————
When Sausage when to get a midnight drink, he had not expected a little mouse man to fall out of his mug. Out of instinct more than fear, he had smacked the poor guy over the head with said mug. Which leads to his current problem; a motionless body of a little mouse man.
Biting his lip, Sausage carefully picked up the little guy, who hung limply in his hands. Sausage pales and hoped to ever god he believed in that he had not just killed this innocent soul. Pressing his ear to the mouse-like persons chest, he released a small relieved breath as he heard a little heartbeat. Sausage also ran a finger through the guys ginger hair, checking the guys head. Relaxing fully when he realized he just gave him a little bump, nothing too bad.
Now reassured that the little guy would live, Sausage examined his find in the touch light. The small humanoid creature had two small ginger mouse like ears with a long furry ginger tail to match. Ginger hair fell into his cute human-like face, with the exception of small whiskers on his cheeks. On his torso, a little blue jacket with gold thread’s for the cuffs and a white shirt underneath it. His hands, more human than not, with the slightest hint of claws and was more furrier. His legs once again reminded Sausage that this wasn’t just a tiny human, as they appeared to be animal like. Small paws were visible at the ends of the mouse-rabbit like legs. Ginger fur covered them coarsely as Sausage petted one of the appendage, causing it to twitch but the creature remained knocked out.
Sausage blinked a little bit as he realized how long he had just been sitting there staring at the little guy. The small man was quite pretty, prettier than most humans he had met. He would make a wonderful treasure, Sausage thought.
Cradling him to his chest, Sausage decided to abandon the idea of getting a drink as he carried his new treasure back to his room. As he walked through the halls back to his room, Sausage thought of decorating his new pet in gold. Just imagining it made Sausage grin like a mad man. Humming a tune, Sausage quickly when into his room and then paused, realizing that he didn’t have a good place to keep his new treasure.
Grimacing, he scanned his room for a good container he could keep his pet in. Sausage started to frown as he scanned through most his room until his eyes fell on a miniature glass jar with a cork top that he used to have fireflies in. His eyes lilt with excitement as he walked over to it, setting his treasure carefully on the sheets of his bed as he passed, taking care not to disturbing him from his slumber.
Sausage grabbed the tiny jar and brought it over to his desk. Lighting the candle next to him, he began to work on the perfect display for his new mouse friend. Pulling off the cork top, he cut a few small holes into the cork to allow oxygen into the jar. Next, Sausage found a metal ring and embedded it into the cork with hot wax. Once cooled, he grabbed a golden chain and threaded it through the partially open ring. Grinning, Sausage held up the new necklace he had just crafted.
Moving on, Sausage grabbed a few soft fabrics from his collection and placed them in the bottom of the jar. He also threw in a few cotton balls he had laying around. Deeming the enclosure done, Sausage focused his attention on a certain little fellow.
Giddy with glee, Sausage got up and went over his jewelry box. He sorted through and gather golden rings and small golden bracelets. His hand hovered over a silver band with a blue gemstone. Deciding to grab it, Sausage then stroll over to his bed. Placing the jewelry next to the sleeping form, Sausage compared each golden band and chain before deciding on simple gold bracelet that drapes nicely over his companion’s body and a gold earring that sat loosely around his neck. Something in Sausage purred as he looked at his new friend with the gold on him. The silver ring rested on snugly on the mouse man’s brow, making him look like a little prince. Sausage giggles at the thought and picked up the boy, placing him in his new home.
Fatigue suddenly hit Sausage as he realized just how late it was. Yawning, Sausage placed the cork back onto the jar and blew out the candle before crawling into bed. Rolling over, Sausage stared at his new treasure’s sleeping form with something borderline possessiveness. The mouse man had moved slightly and had curled up into a ball in the fabric. Grinning once more, Sausage sighed and closed his eyes, falling asleep.
The next morning when Sausage got up, he got dressed and was about to leave when the small jar caught his eyes. Smirking, he carefully lifted the necklace over his head. Smiling down, Sausage headed out proudly with his catch.
——————————————————————————————————
Scott groaned a little bit as he began to wake up. His head was pounding as he forced his eyes open. His vision was fuzzy for a moment before he blinked again. His eyes widen as he was met with an ocean view. It was only then Scott realized he was swaying slightly.
Sitting up quickly, Scott pressed against the back wall. Sleep melting from his mind as he quickly realized that he was in a jar. Looking up, he practically froze when he spotted the human from last night. His heart was in his throat as he leapt away from the body, only to hit the other side of the jar.
In his panic, Scott realized he had been decorated with human trinkets. Scott took the ring off of his head and threw it away from himself. The ring clinked against the glass as it bounced off and landed on the fabric. He gripped the odd golden collar but couldn’t manage to get it off.
“Hm? Oh! You’re awake! I was beginning to worry!”
Scott squeaked in surprise as his prison was hoisted up to eye level with the human. His blood rushed in his ears as he pressed away as far back as he could get from the human. Against his control, his body started shaking. Wide terrified blue eyes met giant brown ones.
“Hey, hey. It’s gonna be okay.” The human attempted to soothe. “I’m not gonna hurt you little fella. At least I think you’re a fella, are a fella?”
Scott stayed frozen as he shook, not wanting to let him know he was sentient but nods slightly.
The human grinned, “Nice you met you little fella! I’m Captain Sausage! What’s your name?”
His loud voice boomed his is sensitive ears, making him pin his ears down as he quivered.
“S-Scott….” He whispered, curling in on himself.
“That’s a cute name for a cutie such as yourself!” Sausage sang. “I’m curious what you are actually but that can be a later topic. Are you hunger by chance?”
Scott, despite being scare, blushed at the words. He shook his head as he wasn’t hungry and still had plenty of crumbs to eat from the herons in his satchel.
“Aw, okay. Well I hope you enjoy your carrier as you’ll be with me most of the time, my little treasure! Just let me know if you want to change it or make it comfortable! Ooh! I can’t wait to show you to my friends! They’ll be so jealous!”
Sausage’s rambling faded into the background as Scott paled and panic over took his senses. He was gonna be a pet. Just another treasure to be treated as an object. Plus he was gonna reveal his whole species and his baby brother. Tears gathering in his eyes as he hugged his knees to his chest, tail curling up on his feet.
A tiny sob broke Sausage out of his rambling, glancing to the jar, he see his sweet little gemstone curled in to a ball, shoulder trembling with sobs.
“Oh no, It’s okay! I promise. I bet I’m scary but I promise you that I’ll treat you right.” Sausage comforted. “You just need time to adjust. You’ll see, within a few weeks, you’ll see that this is the best for you.”
Sausage lowered the necklace back to his chest and rubs the outer glass lovely before he goes back to sailing. Scott hiccups in fright at the words and begs for his brother to find him.
(Part 2 coming soon, hopefully. :3)

Onondaga Nation Celebrates First Land Return of 1,000 Acres in New York's Tully Valley Following Legal Settlement https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/onondaga-nation-celebrate-first-substantial-land-return-with-1000-acres-of-new-yorks-tully-valley-won-in-legal-settlement/
In a rare moment of return for East Coast Native Americans, the Onondaga Nation has had 1,023 acres of ancestral land in New York state returned to them.
The land in the Tully Valley includes the headwaters of Onondaga Creek, more than 45 acres of wetland and floodplains, and approximately 980 acres of forests and fields.
The agreement is a result of the March 2018 Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration (NRDAR) settlement between the Natural Resource Trustees and Honeywell International, Inc.
Honeywell, manufactures of household appliances like air conditioners, were found to have been polluting Onondaga Lake in the Tully Valley, Central New York, for almost 100 years, and it had begun to spill into neighboring Onondaga lands.
They have settled on orders to pay $5 million dollars to the Natural Resource Trustees, give the 1,023 acres of land over to the Onondaga, restore several hundred acres of polluted area, and construct 18 projects related to conservation and recreation, of which 7 have been completed.
“It is with great joy that the Onondaga Nation welcomes the return of the first substantial acreage of its ancestral homelands. The Nation can now renew its stewardship obligations to restore these lands and waters and to preserve them for the future generations yet to come,” said Onondaga Nation Chief Tadodaho Sidney Hill.
For the Onondaga people, Onondaga Lake and Onondaga Creek are sacred. They are considered living relatives, central to the Onondaga worldview and spirituality, the tribe detailed in a statement.
Secularly, the cold waters of Onondaga Creek support a small population of brook trout, a population which may be fully restored with proper stewardship. The wetlands, floodplains, forests and fields are home to wildlife such as great blue heron, songbirds, waterfowl, hawks, bald eagles, frogs, bats, and other mammals including white-tailed deer.
“We look forward to drawing upon the Onondaga Nation’s expertise and Indigenous knowledge in helping manage the area’s valuable wildlife and habitat,” said Sect. of the Interior, Deb Haaland.
It’s more common now than ever that tribal nations are recovering rights to use their ancestral lands as they always had, but for tribes in the super-developed Mid-Atlantic region, these opportunities are rare.
However as the Onondaga point out, recent world-wide land surveys have shown that 80% of the world’s biodiversity is currently located in areas stewarded by indigenous peoples, or lands contested as such, despite the fact this amounts to less than half the land of the planet.
As such, they are keen to show what indigenous stewardship can bring to the biodiversity of America’s East Coast, and the current plan with state officials is to turn the Onondaga Lake and Tully Valley into a wildlife sanctuary, but one with ample opportunities for recreation, as Honeywell were ordered to construct many boat launching sites along the lake and rivers.

I read in the DT art book that very shortly after Heron encountered Webby in 'Confidential Casefiles of Agent 22', she realized or strongly suspected- based on how unusually tough and resourceful this child was- that she was her long-lost experiment/clone of Scrooge. And that she reported to Bradford about it...
...What I don't get is, why didn't Bradford have Heron try abducting Webby/April back after that (because the whole reason he'd had Webby made was so the Papyrus of Binding would show itself, since Scrooge asked the PoB to become lost until the "rightful heir of Scrooge McDuck found it again", and Bradford needed the PoB to force Scrooge into a binding contract to agree to never adventure again)?? Or why didn't Heron herself never take the initiative to abduct Webby herself?
Also, the reason that the PoB apparently didn't show itself to May and June (hence why Bradford saw them as failed experiments) is because they were clones of Webby, not direct clones of Scrooge. But that day F.O.W.L. got the feather from Webby in 'The Split Sword of Swanstantine' (their main mission, apparently, even more than going after the Sword), why hadn't Bradford ordered Heron to get a feather from Scrooge instead of Webby, to increase their chances of making a pure heir/clone of him?
(Hell, Bradford's whole plan was just so convoluted and confusing on so many levels)

[SIMS 4] Streamlined Closet
I was working on trying out Snowy Escape more in depth, but then I had an itch to try building a traditional style japanese house, which lead down a rabbithole of floorplans and designs. I noticed that the bedrooms had large closet spaces and I wanted to translate that to Sims. I couldn't use the DHD closet system with a door, cause Sims couldn't use it (Boo) and the Get together closets are... ugly as sin, so I had an idea to combine the nice screen door from Snowy Escape with the closet system from Get together to get a cute closet door that allowed sims to change their clothes in a tiny living space. After many hours of crying, screaming, banging my head against the wall and begging myself to stop, I actually had these functional and working. It has the original door swatches but I also added on 3 swatches (Shown above) because I wanted the light pine frame with the black doors and cherry blossom print cause pretty. I also liked the heron print and wanted it on the pine frame.
You Require GET TOGETHER for this, cause it's cloned from the closet things. I tried linking to the original Snowy Escape textures but my 2 braincells said no. The Closet itself is emptied out, so you can place items behind it with MOO for decoration. I tried it and sims seemed able to use the closet for woohoo and making out, so ... Only issue I've noted so far is that the closet kinda glows. I dunno what's up with that. I've tried disabling the lighting resources and it doesn't have anything to enable lighting on it, so IDK. IF you can fix it to not do that, pls help.

Watched boy and the heron: it feels like Miyazaki blended in all his prior works and announced everything going to end. If you know the director and the main studio partner died during production and all the hints about death and life. It would be a good ending if you do a marathon watch of their previous films. It’s way too slow and confusing for a standalone. After Spirited Away’s success, I sensed quite a few 3D western animation used similar concepts about grief , explore about feelings or meaning of living. They had more resources in making films and getting things mainstream palatable. This movie is definitely an attempt to avant-garde. You should notice the amount of foot steps ambience sounds and no other sounds from time to time, even Joe Hisaishi’s piano sounded like Hitchcock. Even Ghibli is famous for their ambience, especially their wind effects make you feel like you are high above ground with the characters looking at breath taking views, with this movie, I would prefer something like Pom Poko which was a Ghibli but was not even directed by Miyazaki. Artistic-wise the more ornate the more loaded complicated decorations the better which were there from time to time. Typical beautiful scenery as expected from Ghibli, but definitely not out done themselves and feel like a conclusion and strong hints about end of Ghibli and dying of the original animators. With the advance of technology I hope a new generation of art can emerge that can be artistically beautiful, burst with organic creativity and sophisticated.
