Wings are useless for most bugs.

Ever since the Day of Awakening, most bugs have lost the ability to fly in the process of being awakened. The wings are still there of course, with some preferring to wear them like robes, or others having them drape behind for show. This is also shown with Purple, who as an awakened mothfly is unable to fly despite being surrounded by lesser mothflies who can.

Some bugs retain the ability to fly. Bees, dragonflies, and wasps are some of the lucky few. However with so many others being unable to, flight isn’t really needed anymore. It’s a luxury, sure, but it’s kinda useless

Doesn’t mean wings aren’t important. They never lose their meaning and symbol of freedom to most bugs. Wings are still part of the body, after all.

But this is a double-edged sword.

What better way to make somebody give in than by taking not only their freedom but their hope for it. After trying to escape, Chosen was grabbed by Alan and then had one of his wings ripped off to make that more difficult. And many years later, in order to make Dark submit, Victim began ripping pieces off of Chosen’s remaining wing for very overstep and mistake from either of the bugs.

On the other end, there’s King, a violin mantis. In relation to sex, violin mantises will have much longer wings if they are male and shorter wings if they are female. King was born female and of course with short wings, made even more obvious by his thin frame. The wings were obvious, and he hated them for lying to other bugs about who he was. So to prevent people from guessing, he cut off his own wings. Many bugs worst fear and an utterly horrifying thought. Bugs see the scars on his back and pity him for whatever monster took his wings or what horrible accident ripped them from him, but he sees no wings and those scars in their place and feels free.

It is in the tutorial! This is in the tutorial! We believe it might have been one on the pillars! Your frontmost party member does one more damage! Behind that, it's just default - there is NO party position that reduces your attack! The backmost member simply gets attacked less often, and it does not affect power.

Foremost position: Attacked something like 45% of the time, +1 attack

Secondmost position: Attacked something like 35% of the time

Lastmost position: Attacked something like 20% of the time.

You CANNOT reduce attack through party positions! Both of your backing party members are at a flat two attack! Please heed our advice.

I had no idea that they did less damage further back in the party, explains a lot tbh. Gonna move Vi forward when I use her ability from now on.

Progress update: I defeated Venus! (On the third try). The ant queen is suspicious as hell but I’m going to continue to do as I’m told.

i saw a bit of your bugfables au. The drawings of purple you did to get your cuteness aggression out pushed me over the edge and i watched a part of a playthrough. The game looked really cool then one thing led to another and ive been playing it for the past five hours (also if you have any tips on how to stop being bad at the game id appreciate tyty) if your wondering where i am in the game ive just started venus' bossfight

I’m still pretty shit at the game ngl. But I’ve gotten a grasp on the basic mechanics!

Everyone has a base attack of 2 and base defense of 0. Depending on how you move your party, each space gets different benefits and downsides

Back: -1 attack

Middle: basic

Front: targeted more, +1 attack

Kabbu also has a pierce mechanic which does +1 more damage on enemies with natural defense I think. You can also move your party around and USE IT!!!! USE IT AND TURN RELAY! The +1 attack is SO useful for the front and you can do some massive damage with it depending on the skill you choose
