i think about this moment a lot and how Peter is just holding Lucy SO tightly and how Lucy is clinging to him and how Edmund puts himself in front of them to be the first line of defense to keep his older brother and little sister safe and Peter's the second line and how neither of them will allow anything to touch their baby sister

Also, what is Hestia's roll if any that she has?
-OverAnalyzer
HESTIA
APPEARANCE:
Hestia presents as an adult, and she is a virgin goddess. She is always dressed modestly, and her eyes glow warmly with the fire of her hearth. She always carries a bowl for her flame, and her fire can glow in every color imaginable, depending on her feelings.
CHAMPION:
Her champion is chosen for who will hold up the sense of family amongst their own and others the best. One who is loyal to whatever family they chose, and who will keep Hestia’s hearth always burning, will be her champion. They are given some of her divine powers, and can call on her during their times of need. They can also talk to Hestia in their dreams. They are allowed to stay in the cabin of their godly parent, though if they chose to, they could stay in Hestia’s cabin.
FIRE OF LIFE:
Hestia, rarely, can imbue a creature, mortal, or demigod with a blessing to revive them back to life if they were to die. This is called the “fire of life,” and it is a rare occurrence where Hestia witnesses something she cares deeply for die.
Many do not get this chance, but those that do are able to be revived and continue living. This only gets them back to life, and does not make them invincible. If they have some kind of curse, like the Curse of Achilles or some other dangerous curse to them, the curse will burn away and they will be free from it. They won’t have any other powers, but their skin will receive a faint glow, and they will always run warm.
CABIN:
Her cabin is made out of terracotta clay and wood, and is welcoming. Two small hearths burn outside the cabin, and paintings of comforting fire and light cover the outside of the cabin. On one side, hand-prints are painted in a burst of warm colors, as a mark from every new demigod who has come to Camp after the Second Titanomachy.
The inside, while a bit crowded from the amount of beds, is also quite warm and homely. A table sits in the middle of the cabin for campers to come around to talk or relax, and in the basement, there are a couple more beds, but also an underground kitchen for when the demigods staying with her need a bite to eat outside of the dining pavilion. It has also been reinforced with Celestial bronze bars to prevent further damage. Inside, it always smells similar to the demigods own home, or their favorite smell that reminds them of home.
The original cabin was destroyed by the Titan Army during the Second Titanomachy, which summoned Hestia to the fight in the first place. The old cabin was much more cramped and wrecked due to the amount of demigods who were almost constantly coming in and out of its walls. Now, the space is much more taken care of, so the demigods that stay there can live happier, healthier lives.
CABIN CULTURE:
The cabin counselor can be any demigod from any godly parent, though it generally takes the form of her champion. They are in charge of keeping track of the demigods that come into and leave the cabin, and for keeping the general peace of it for those who live there.
Before the new pact was made, the demigods who came through the cabin had little hope of being claimed. Many of them stayed there for years on end, growing more jaded to the hope of their parent’s attention. The ones who stayed there year-round grew especially frustrated, and this would lead to the cabin almost never being quiet. There was almost constant tension and conflict from many unhappy demigods, and factions within the group would form.
The cabin was viewed negatively by other demigods, with a fair amount of bullying coming from claimed demigods. These would sometimes put unclaimed demigods in especially demeaning positions, and they would be seen as lesser or even signs of bad luck by others.
Many unclaimed demigods from this cabin joined the Titan Army due to the resentment built up, and this anger led to them either forming incredibly tight-knit bonds with each other, or taking many attempts to destroy each other. These different conflicts led to the cabin being burnt down, injuring and even killing some of the demigods who stayed there. This tragedy is still felt today in the new cabin, where the demigods who were lost in the conflict who had never been claimed have their pictures up in memorial.
Now, the air in the cabin is much easier. Because of the new claiming system, demigods only have to stay in the cabin for a few months at a time as they wait for their new cabins to be built. It is also where visiting demigods and clear-sighted mortals can stay. This energy of familiarity brings a more comforting atmosphere to the cabin, and they are able to stay there as long as they like, even when their cabins are finished.
A sense of family can be felt there, especially from demigods who get to know each other during their shared stay in the cabin. This sense of family can last for lifetimes.
SOME POTENTIAL POWERS:
Pyrokinesis
Immunity to freezing/frostbite
Zoolingualism with swine
Enhanced sense of smell
Proficiency in cooking/baking/brewing
Enhanced healing speed around family
Enhanced strength, stamina, and speed when fighting in their home/estate
Reblog or @/ this blog if this inspires you to make your own champion of Hestia, or to do anything with your OC and this version of Hestia! Thank you "OverAnalyzer" and @themythicalgeek for the request!

Moonlight Night
One of my deity ocs for Stex is The Moonlight Arrow and I decided to make a holiday the trains celebrate in honor of her.
It's kind of their Christmas.
They celebrate it on the winter solstice, the longest night of the year.
They sprinkle "moondust" (glitter) everywhere, it's supposed to turn into presents around the house that they have to find.
They wake up around 1 am to celebrate.
They use helmets or skates in place of stockings, that concept stays the same lmao.
They leave the blinds open so that the moonlight can reflect off of the snow and light up the house, they leave all the artificial lights off.
If you wanna know more abt train gods I just reblogged smth where I talked abt them.

I'm a day late for Imbolc (Brigid's Day) but right on time for a day of celebrating commercialism and sportsing (not a typo, see the associated comic). The juxtaposition of these two very different celebrations (Imbolc being a day to celebrate rebirth, new life, thawing, sowing; a festival of hearth and home) has me thinking about how many of us stride our own strange lines: between rational thought and magical thinking, past and present, constance and change, the world we mourn and the one we dream into being. I don't know that there's a point to all the thinking, the overthinking and overanalyzing that constantly takes place in my hypomanic and anxious brain. Really, is there a point to anything? I don't know, but today, I'm going to try to worry a little less and relax a little more. And maybe I'll squeeze in some time to enjoy Hozier's 'Take Me to Church's, yet again. what's that???? you thought i was done over-analyzing narnia???
you thought WRONG
was this shot probably taken bts between filming? absolutely. am i going to treat it as though it's from a deleted scene? absolutely.
lucy and peter just holding each other, they're the pevensie siblings that thrive off of physical affection and they definitely would just hang off of each other during the golden age, even when they're adults
edmund and susan's hands being in almost the exact same position???? the diplomats out of the four??? they definitely mimicked each other so much during the golden age, they had the same political smile, the same glare
and i've gone over the costume design in prince caspian showing the divide in the siblings, but here it's like???? so distinct???? peter and lucy in the same tone of brown/orange, and peter and susan in almost the exact same color purple????
i need to watch this movie again bc i'm going insane

the fact that their relationship is so painfully underrated when it's possibly one of the most important relationships in the entire movie series.
they were the first two to enter into Narnia, and from the moment they find themselves there, they become representations of the two sides, Lucy as Aslan's, and Edmund as Jadis'. they grow from being the furthest apart of the four to being the closest, Lucy bringing Edmund back to the light and him being able to rely on his sister. They're the most physically affectionate duo (after Peter and Lucy), and in "Voyage of the Dawn Treader", they're basically able to read each other's minds and trust in each other wholeheartedly.
and don't even get me started on the fact that Lucy is so connected to Edmund's domain, and Edmund is just as connected to Lucy's domain, so much so that during their time as rulers, unless someone knew their full titles, they probably got the domains mixed up.
they share everything with each other, and know each other's worst fear and their nightmares, and now I'm thinking about the fact that, when the train started to derail, Edmund and Lucy just looked at each other, and he immediately pulled her into his arms, hugging her as tightly as he possibly could, and Peter grabbed the two of them and held them close, because they knew what was about to happen, they knew things were going wrong, so all they can do is just hold each other and wait for the inevitable.

just... their final Narnian outfits all matching in some way???
Peter and Susan both having blue, Edmund and Lucy wearing green, Susan and Lucy both having floral motifs, and Peter and Edmund both having the tunic-style and wider sleeves??
but the colors of their outfits are really what i want to focus on!!
Peter and Susan both wearing blue is SO important to this moment in their story:
blue is, ofc, the color of sadness, and it's heartbreaking that they have to leave Narnia, leave their country, their home, and know that they won't be returning
it's also the color of responsibility and calmness, and Susan's title is LITERALLY the Gentle Queen, and she's always been the voice of reason within the four siblings.
Peter's dark blue that he's wearing specifically represents strength and reliability, which is... like the perfect color motif for him to wear in this final moment as the High King of Narnia (ik, "once a king or queen, always a king or queen" but still)
and i don't talk about the religious aspect of Narnia much, but the only thing that i will say is that in the bible, blue represents Heaven, and while Peter and Susan aren't going to Aslan's Country, they're leaving their Narnia and never returning, so it's sort of like that.
now, Edmund and Lucy being in green:
Green represents growth and prosperity, and in this moment, Narnia is entering a new age, and while Lucy and Edmund are growing, they know that they'll still be able to return to Narnia one day
i think it's also important to note that green obviously represents envy or jealousy as well, which is why I think it's a smart choice for Edmund to have green. While he's obviously no longer envious of Peter or his siblings (because, for the first time, Edmund's getting something that Peter won't have again), his jealousy was such a big part of his character in the first movie (and into the third movie) that it just fits for him to be wearing green.
Lucy's light green sleeves represent youthfulness and relaxation, which is perfect paired with the darker green, because she's maturing and stepping into a new role now that her older siblings are leaving.
and also, the color matching creating an obvious split between the four, with the two who are leaving have the color representing sadness, whereas the two who will be able to return have the color representing rebirth and growth??????
so yeah, i'm obsessed with these final Narnian costumes and what they represent for the siblings, and i WILL overanalyze every single costume in this movie and no one can stop me <3

ugh this scene in "prince caspian" perfectly shows how the siblings' relationship has changed since "the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe":
Peter would have just gotten SO annoyed at Edmund, he probably would have been upset, made some kind of comment about Edmund making bad decisions
Edmund would have made a snarky comment, he honestly probably wouldn't even have taken out the flashlight and let Peter suffer
Susan would've probably gotten a bit annoyed, maybe snapped at both the boys for how they were acting, taken on that scolding maternal tone we hear her use in the first movie
Lucy probably would have been worried, upset that her siblings are fighting (because we see that in lww, Lucy's very much affected whenever her siblings are upset)
but now?
Peter makes it into a joke, obviously trying not to laugh and trying his best to remain serious, but his tone is still so playful when he says "you might have mentioned that a bit earlier", and he just laughs with Edmund
Susan's shaking her head but trying not to smile, very much just fondly exasperated at her brothers
Edmund's just grinning, because he obviously JUST remembered that he had the flashlight, and now he's stepped into that younger brother role, teasing his big brother and pulling out the perfect solution
Lucy, while still worried about what's to come, is smiling like Susan, holding back her own giggles, and again, that shows how Lucy's so affected by the emotions of her siblings
(and now this has me thinking that maybe, just maybe, Edmund knew how to make Lucy feel better, so he pulled the flashlight out, and Peter knew what he was doing, and wanted to break the tension so their little sister would laugh, and i'm going to go cry over them byeee)

you know what, i WILL in fact talk about the fact that in their final Narnian battle, Edmund and Lucy use Peter and Susan's weapons as their own
because, in "Voyage of the Dawn Treader", Edmund and Lucy are essentially the same ages that Peter and Susan were during their first journey into Narnia.
Tumblr media
like i said in my Susan and Lucy post, Lucy is so much like Susan, more than she realizes. they don't look the same, but Lucy has Susan's heart. The way she takes Gael under her wing, the way she becomes the calm voice of reason amongst Edmund, Caspian, and Eustace. The way she faces down every dangerous moment on her journey with nothing but bravery and sharp wit.
Lucy has stepped into Susan's shoes, but she's also made it her own. She still has that childlike wonder, the bright, unwavering belief in Narnia and in Aslan. She just had to rediscover it, rediscover herself.
When Susan receives her bow, Father Christmas tells her: "Trust in this bow, and it will not easily miss."
Lucy's ENTIRE character centers around her trust in Aslan, her siblings, and in Narnia. Lucy also going from just being a healer, being the one to arrive at the end of the battle with every solution, to being right in the thick of it and fighting alongside everyone else? Such a perfect way to portray her character's growth.
Then, you have Edmund.
Tumblr media
Before I start, just know that I am an Edmund stan and apologist until the day I fucking die. Edmund spent so much of his life living inside of Peter's shadow, always being compared to him. When he returns to Narnia, Peter's not there, but now, Edmund's living inside Caspian's shadow. Edmund is a king, he knows this, but like Peter in "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" and "Prince Caspian", he's tired of being treated like a child.
Edmund pulls himself up onto Peter's level. He's a swordsman on par with his brother and Caspian, he's the one who faces down the sea serpent, he's the only one over the course of three movies who faces down Jadis against all odds. He's probably the sibling after Lucy who has the most faith and belief in Narnia, purely because of the trauma he's gone through.
He has to believe, because if he doesn't, he's afraid he's going to fall back into that pattern. It happens at the golden pool, and Edmund can't bear the thought of returning to that place, to being locked in Jadis' palace.
That sword is an extension of Edmund. It's a symbol of Peter's trust in him, of his siblings, of Aslan's faith in him, and that's what pushes him to kill the serpent.

guess what i'm NOT done talking about their relationship because LOOK AT THIS
i already talked about the fact that Edmund is standing up with the archers instead of at Peter's side, but i fully forgot to talk about this moment
This moment is when Jadis shows up, she pulls to the front of her army, and they're about to fight. Peter doesn't speak to Orius, he doesn't look to one of the more skilled fighters with him, he turns around to look up at Edmund.
Not only is this a really... TERRIBLE idea, seeing as he's pretty much turning his back to his enemy, but more importantly, this is the second time we've seen Peter looking to someone (who isn't Aslan) for reassurance/support.
what is the first time, you ask?
After the news of Aslan's death reaches the camp, and Peter finds himself now in charge of the army. He says he can't do it, he can't lead them, and in return, Edmund tells him "Aslan believed you could. And so do I."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Peter's not looking to see if Edmund's safe, he knows that he is, he knows that his little brother is tucked away and unable to be harmed (for now). He's looking to see if Edmund still believes in him, if he can somehow see what Edmund sees. Edmund, after experiencing so much and seeing the worst that Jadis has to offer, still believes in his big brother, he knows that Peter is going to be able to keep them safe, he knows that Peter can do this, and THAT'S when Peter steps up.
That's when he draws his sword, when he lets out his battle cry, when he steps into the role as High King.

you know what? i am NOT going to stop talking about the fact that during the Battle, Peter had Edmund up where the archers were
maybe it was strategic, because yeah, Jadis probably would have gone after Ed as soon as he stepped onto the battlefield, but from Peter's perspective?
he's protecting the only sibling he has with him.
Susan and Lucy are gone. Peter has no idea where his sisters are. All he knows is that Aslan is dead, his sisters are missing, and Edmund is the only sibling that he can keep safe, the only one that he can protect.
and fucking hell, the way that parallels the very beginning of the movie? Susan grabbing Lucy and getting her out of the house as the sirens go off, getting her to safety away from danger, while Peter runs into the danger in order to make sure that Edmund gets out alive.
Peter spends the entirety of their time in Narnia prior to the battle protecting Susan and Lucy, keeping them safe, because in his eyes, he's failed Edmund, and they're the siblings he has with him.
but now, during the Battle, the roles have been reversed...
Peter has run into danger for his family, just like how Edmund ran into the house for their father's picture. He's the future King, he has to protect his new home, his new people, the one sibling whose safety is of the utmost importance, because he knows Jadis will kill Edmund the moment she gets the chance.
It's Edmund's turn to run into danger to save his brother, to grab onto him as the sirens go off and pull him away from his death, even if it causes his own. His own safety is the last thing on his mind, because Peter's in trouble, and his words are in the back of his mind, "try not to wander off", and Edmund will be damned if he runs away from this.
it just... the entire Battle shows how much both brothers have changed, Peter laying down his life to protect Edmund without question, Edmund no longer hiding and running headfirst into danger to face off against Jadis for his brother's sake
and don't even get me started on the final scene of the Battle with Peter, Susan, and Lucy around Edmund, because i WILL cry and i WILL overanalyze it

do you ever just think about this scene in "voyage of the dawn treader" and how desperately Lucy screams Edmund's name and how terrified Edmund sounds when he calls for her because this probably isn't the first time they've been separated but this is the first time they've been forcibly separated since Edmund was taken by Jadis, so there's so much more uncertainty and someone's taking his little sister away from him and there's literally nothing he can do to keep her with him and he can't protect her and if something happens to her then it's going to be all his fault

do you ever just sit and think about how the three verses in “The Call” by Regina Spektor (which was used as the credits song in "Prince Caspian") perfectly corresponds to one of the three movies because i do and i'm really not okay
It started out as a feeling Which then grew into a hope Which then turned into a quiet thought Which then turned into a quiet word And then that word grew louder and louder 'Til it was a battle cry I'll come back when you call me No need to say goodbye
obviously, we have Lucy being drawn to the wardrobe in the first movie, just by a simple feeling. There's a reason she chose that room to rush into, a reason she hid inside the wardrobe.
The entirety of the first movie, there's an underlying tension surrounding everyone whenever there is a conversation happening. Hope is HUGE in the first movie, because the prophecy, the idea that the Witch will one day be defeated, is really what is pushing the Narnians to continue on, to continue fighting.
the "I'll come back when you call me" also works as a perfect carry-over into "Prince Caspian", since Caspian was the one who called the siblings back to Narnia.
Just because everything's changing Doesn't mean it's never been this way before All you can do is try to know who your friends are As you head off to the war Pick a star on the dark horizon and follow the light You'll come back when it's over No need to say goodbye
"everything's changing" because everything has changed. the Pevensies return to a Narnia that has spent two hundred years without their kings and queens, and nothing is the same. the trees don't speak, Aslan's gone, and there are new foes and allies.
They're figuring out their path, Susan and Peter are figuring out where they're going after Narnia, and Lucy and Edmund having to now learn to navigate their lives without their older siblings around them.
(and then "pick a star on the dark horizon" makes me think about Caspian, Ed, and Lucy meeting Lilliandil and her guiding them to the other swords)
Now we're back to the beginning It's just a feeling and no one knows yet But just because they can't feel it too Doesn't mean that you have to forget Let your memories grow stronger and stronger 'Til they're before your eyes You'll come back when they call you No need to say goodbye
"Dawn Treader" ending with Edmund and Lucy, the first of the siblings to enter Narnia and the last to leave, is really so perfect. They're returning to England, they'll be leaving to be with their family, they won't experience Narnia again for a little while, so it's all about their memories of their home. We know Susan forgets Narnia (which i'm still annoyed about), so it's about the rest of them not forgetting, remembering their country, knowing that they'll be able to return one day, and again, holding onto that hope.

rewatching chronicles of narnia and here are a few little things that i noticed:
until they are crowned, everyone calls the pevensies either "prince" or "princess, except for mr. fox, who's the first to call lucy "my queen", and who calls both peter and edmund "my king"
lucy's coronation gown and cape is the same color as the dress and cape we see her in for the majority of the movie once she and the others get to aslan's camp
lucy and aslan meeting eyes just before aslan, and her gasp as he's stabbed implying that she's feeling his pain and feeling him die which once again pairs perfectly with my hc of lucy being the healer of narnia

Yes to all of that!! I’ll help write the thesis because I too love their relationship in the films.
Another moment that stands out to me is Peter openly crying for Edmund when he realizes how hurt he is and that he may lose him. To everyone else he’s this strong and magnificent warrior and leader, but in that moment he’s just Peter who promised his mum he’d keep his siblings safe. I can’t imagine the intense fear he must have been experiencing, knowing that there was a very real chance that promise could be broken.
(omg so so sorry it took me forever to answer this i got the flu and it knocked me tf out lmao)
LITERALLY INSANE OVER THEM LIKE MR WILLIAM MOSELEY HAD NO RIGHT FOR HIS ACTING TO BE THAT INSANELY PERFECT IN THAT MOVIE
that's one of the things i absolutely adore in the first movie. for the first half, Peter is so obsessed with taking his father's place, fitting that role because that's what he's expected to do. he can't be the big brother, he has to be the dad. and once they're in Narnia and they hear the prophecy, now Peter has to be king, so that's his role, and he has to do that perfectly or else something will go wrong.
and it isn't until Edmund's come back, and Peter's seen that he's safe, and all his siblings are safe, that he settles back into that big brother position. literally the first thing he says to Edmund when he gets back is a joke, his focus is totally back on his siblings, even him trying to convince them to go home is from the point of view of a big brother.
and Peter seeing Edmund lying on that battlefield, it's the moment where of course he's in complete shock and completely and utterly helpless. He's a teenager, he's not supposed to be seeing war like his father is, it's one of the only moments we get of him acting like a child, being terrified and looking for someone older, someone more responsible to take the reins. He's able to help his siblings to a point, but he can't bring his little brother back from the dead. and that's where his fear comes from.
that's also another short i've been planning on writing, on Mr. Pevensie coming home and seeing the same haunted fear that he sees in his soldier friends' eyes echoed in the eyes of his children...
(and we get that same parallel of "king learning to be a big brother again" in the second movie, with the shift happening more towards the end after Peter faces off against Jadis, and Edmund stops her, and he has the talk with Lucy!)
