Both songs are about two people falling for each other when they were not looking for love at all: they (con artists in Cowboy Like Me or thiefs in Ready For It) were not really in it for searching for commitment when they met each other, but somehow read into the other persons' tricks and identified each other as equals.

I think a lot of the rep love songs were initially about Harry, or at least had started out as Harry songs but eventually, she just changed certain details to make them about Joe. She may even have thought that she was writing about Joe, but subconsciously without realizing it, it was about Harry.

Let's look at the songs:

End Game: she says ''you and me, we got a BIG reputation'', ''you and me we'd make a BIG conversation''. Now Joe back then did not have a big reputation in the public eye to make any big conversation. I don't even know if that's possible still today. No offense, but how many people care about him enough to talk about him, outside of Tay's fandom.

DWOHT: ''I loved you in spite of deep fears that the world would divide us'' I don't think the world cared much about dividing them, other than maybe the paparazzi being invasive trying to learn more about Tay's love life and writing about it. Something that could potentially push Joe away. Now, on the other hand, everyone and their mother was up in Harry's and Taylor's business while they were dating. His fandom harassed her so badly because they didn't want them together. The media was constantly following them and eventually, I think this is what actually broke them apart. The pressure and anxiety being one of the few things that came with all the attention that they were receiving.

...RFI?, SIG... : I mean I'm pretty sure every time there's an ellipsis in a song that it's about Harry. After all Question...? is a song about him.

Dress could have been a Harry song at one point, but she probably reworked it and made it about Joe with the flashback part of the song.

KOMH: If I remember correctly, there is a video of Taylor writing the song in September. How could she write that Joe is the king of her heart when she barely even knew him. I mean no judgment here, it could be possible, it's Taylor after all, anything is possible with her. But I personally think that to a degree it could have started out as a Harry song. The ''never took me quite where you do'' part really reminds me of ''you showed me colors you know I can't see with no one else''. Now, when Harry first met Taylor, he was just starting out with 1D, I don't think he had that much money from the very beginning to be owning such cars, even though by the end of 2012 they were driving in a range rover in England. Harry has an unreleased song Baby Honey (which I think is about Taylor) that says ''and I know he's got the money baby honey, but does he kiss you in the place I know you like'', which makes me question was he ever feeling intimidated about Calvin having more money than him at that point in time?

Anyway to end it, New Year's Day could be about anyone, but as soon as I hear Polaroid pictures my mind just goes to a certain place. Also the NYE kiss in times square.

I think you are so right about all of these. I think the same thing. There was fan reports of seeing them together December 28, 2016.

Austin made a post around the same time about getting the signed album. Then there is this anonymous saying they were staying at a hotel on several occasions from late 2016 to mid 2017. This was all while she was supposed to be falling madly in love with joe.

Question; Can Taylor sing songs from the album's she hasn't dropped rerecordings for yet at shows if she starts touring for Midnights early next year or nah? Another question: If Taylor *can* sing song from albums she hasn't released rerecordings for yet on tour, would 🛴 be entitled to money if she sings those songs?

Yes she can. She performed old songs she doesn’t own in 2019, after the masters were sold, though they fought about it. Scooter may get a little money directly from her performance (not sure) but he would definitely get money because when she performs them, they become more popular. And this will always be the case because there will always be a certain amount of streaming and radio play of the old versions and though he doesn’t own them anymore, she said he somehow still gets a cut from them, at least for a while.

But she has an easy way to minimize it significantly. First of all the vast majority of the songs on tour will be Lover, folkevermore and Midnights songs. Then she already has a bunch of TV versions she can do, so expect Love Story and ATW and maybe IKYWT or other another pop hit from Red. Plus Wildest Dreams. Then she has her ace in the hole: she can release a TV version of any of the songs she performs before tour starts. So if she wants to perform Blank Space, she just releases it like she did with Wildest Dreams. And the Shake it Off lawsuit will be done by then. Assuming she wins, she can do the same with that. If she loses, she may never play it again, who knows? Plus she can just release TV versions of RFI or Delicate or LWYMMD and Our Song or whatever she wants to perform. There won’t be many because, again, the vast majority will be her newer songs she hasn’t toured.

Who knows, she could even release another TV album before tour and have another mini-era. There are no rules around that.

This all assumes a 2023 tour as rumors have said and I believe makes sense.

Bestie you mentioned ciwyw and lover as songs telling “similar” stories.. I get lover but what about ciwyw?

oh i meant the tracks about taylor and joe's love story - throughout rep and lover - each contribute some unique angles about their relationship. and they, at least to me, seem more critical to the album and the story that these two tracks that got left off.

for example, to focus on all of the girls: that song tells us that taylor's grateful for joe's past. and there are parallels to reputation and lover throughout - that he treats her differently, and better, than her exes (this is present throughout but cornelia street, komh, ithk are good examples); he makes her forget their names (rfi); their pasts parallel (first and second verses of rfi); he makes her feel like a teenager again (ithnk); he tries on calling her baby like trying on clothes (komh.) and we also have this recurring concern that both of their pasts would come back to haunt them, such as in daylight, delicate (stay here, honey, i don't want to share), lover (my heart's been borrowed and yours has been blue), me! (you're the kinda guy all the ladies want... but you'll never find another like me), paper rings (honey, without all the exes, fights, and flaws we wouldn't be standing here so tall).

i love all of the girls for lines like the one about his mother, the heart drawn around his name, secret jokes all alone, etc. etc. but i think the aforementioned tracks in rep and lover added SO MUCH to the story that this track wasn't absolutely necessary. as much as it hurts to say.

however, taylor is human, maybe those songs felt too raw or vulnerable in some way. maybe she just preferred other tracks. i'd love to learn more about how she edits songs down. i think both of these songs would've been fandom favorites for sure.

Not expecting such a random comment, you chuckled a little. Satisfied with himself, he let out a very loud exclamation of sucess and threw his arms around you.

Favourite Twizzle sequence

Ok so I feel like my answer to this is kinda biased on the circumstances surrounding it but without going and watching literally every twizzle sequence ever to pick a new favourite I’m still gonna say it’s this one:

Both of VM’s 2018 olys programs was my first real experience with watching ice dance with the understanding that it is different than pairs and singles (elements, structure, choreography etc).

So I don’t know whether it was purely VM, or the fact that I was really watching ice dance for the first time but inevitably the impressions those programs left on me was ‘this is what ice dance IS’. I remember I was watching the SD event live and saw several teams before VM. (I remember seeing the Shibs, but no one else really left an impression on me). They (VM) came out and it was like, this is the meaning, the definition of ice dance. This is dancing on ice. No one else is doing this.

SO. this twizzle sequence is still to this day part of what I picture when I think of the prefect ice dance program (yes, MR is perfect).

Let’s break it down:

I love the choreography going into it. The detail and the musicality. I love that he holds her elbow/upper forearm to drag her backwards-like that’s so specific but perfectly keeping with the tango style but with a contemporary influence. That arm they added where she strikes in straight up with a jazz hand- perfect! The way they hit every one of those beats in the music. There’s this thing in ballet where you are told when doing big jumps, to land with your arms held in the position you had them in the air to make the movement, picture of the position last longer. The same thing happens here with their musicality. It’s like they hit every beat with each arm, head, stroke perfectly that it creates like a echo effect, you simultaneously hear/see/feel each movement echo as they keep going, like dropping a rock in water and watching the rings reverberate out.

The first twizzle is a LBO (left, back outside edge) with free foot/leg in cou de pied (cut). Something about this particular twizzle (every time they do this one)- and I’m assuming it’s just the way it’s done- not necessarily a VM thing, but their leg positions going into it is always so precise. I’ve watched it so many times to figure it out. Coz it’s a LBO-OUTSIDE edge twizzle- I’m assuming that’s the prep for it that they have to be on an outside edge on the twizzling skate. The position they hit before it, with the front/ free leg crossed over the back and both skates on an outside edge. In dancing we would call that ankle position a ‘sickle’- when you roll outwards and turn your toes inwards. Obviously this position is for the twizzle technique- not a stylistic choice but none the less I love the very accurate position they both hit - especially for these more contemporary programs (MR and Latch it’s super obvious- could also be a change in their technique post comeback that I notice it more). So you see the position pre twizzle it ‘uglies up’ their lines which often in contemporary style is what you want- it shouldn’t always be pretty.

Anyway, once in the twizzle it almost looks like they get out of sync- but I don’t think they do, I think it’s that Scott has to travel further than her to make that corner and change direction. I think it also comes down to him having a slightly wider knee position than her.

Second set: RFI (right, forward, inside edge). The transition in between the first and second twizzle is great. I have this pet peeve with a lot of teams that add about 17 edge changes and 16 counts of chore in between twizzles (I’m exaggerating but even if they do like 3 or 4 that’s too many) to me it seems harder to go almost straight into the next twizzle coz they change direction and have to find their spot (the point they look at as they spin) without that break in between to reset. I love their catch- foot twizzles. They have hardly ever screwed them up (fallen off balance a couple of times) but they have never missed catching the blade. They are so fast and travel so far I almost thought they would run out of room for the last set.

Third set: LBI (left, back, inside edge- at least I think it counts as back, as they are travelling backwards on the prep). Again- so fast, so in sync. Then, the finish. This is one of the moments from this program that stayed with me for days, even weeks after seeing it. It’s perfect. I thought, ‘that’s how you do it’. I hadn’t seen several other teams’ programs, but whatever anyone else does, it wasn’t gonna be that good. Now after watching a tonne of ice dance, I still believe that. In general, sometimes I think about VM’s programs and the brilliant choreography they (mostly) got- from both Marina and MFP/I.AM, and the fact that their whole career they had the same choreographers as their rivals, but VM’s just comes off so much better. The comments you read on YT, things like their choreography is brilliant or their choreographers are geniuses. This is where it becomes a marriage of the choreography and the dancers. The best dancers can make bad chore into magic, but average dancers can not make magic out of brilliant choreography. So when you get the genius, inspired, poetic choreography, and you have the best dancers in the world doing that choreography, that’s unbeatable.
