Prompt 106
Dan absolutely despised his parole at first, but honestly this is a blast. Sure, he’s stuck in the form of a cat, a kitten even, but he’d found an absolutely wonderful companion. Partner. Ally? Baby Chaos Lord? He’d work on it.
Klarion is just happy to have found such a great familiar, he even named them Teekl II, which is a great name thank you very much hero-babies! So now he has two Teekl familiars, and Teekl II always gets so gleeful whenever they successfully pull a prank! He even has his own fire magic which is so fun!
Danny is not happy to get thrown into another world, stuck as a kitten. He’s also not pleased to have found a sick baby liminal, but fine. If this is what he’s supposed to deal with then he’ll deal with it! Even if he has to be a familiar for a teeny tiny bit of time. It’s fine, and the dude has a pocket he can peek out of on his coat.
Jason has no idea where this kitten came from but the Pit is being surprisingly chill about it. Something about a baby? Whatever, he’s made the furball a little matching outfit and they like to sit in his pockets and peer out. No idea how Cat Hood is making the shadows all spooky now or why the eyes went from blue to green, but whatever.
Ellie is utterly delighted in this situation. She was just wandering, but now she’s a lil fluffy kitten, and ended up landing on this kid’s head. This magic kid’s head! He even has a talking tiger friend too! So cool! She’s definitely sticking with him! This will be so fun!
Billy was worried about making sure the kitten got food, she’s so tiny! Mr Tawny is a big help though, and apparently she’s his familiar now that he’s given her a mortal name? He doesn’t fully understand but apparently she’s connected to his magic now, if the shouts from the gods are anything to go by. Look, an electric cat is cool. Pakhet is amazing, and Fawcet thinks it’s adorable that Marvel has a kitten clinging to his shoulder

Apparently in my absence this post had its 1000-notes-iversary.
This time we get to see the culprit responsible for ruining our heroes' lives as well.
I've really missed you guys, by the way. I know I've said that already, but I'm serious. Once or twice this year I've been right on the brink of coming back but schedule stuff always keeps me from letting myself commit to that again, and that in turn has kept me from posting anything at all. But I've been in an unexpected drawing mood lately and so if I can get enough stuff to set up a queue we might pretend I'm back for a month or so sometime this year. Maybe. Hopefully. We'll see. No promises though. That's why I'm hiding this paragraph under the cut.
Transcription:
[Beren:] "Uhhh...barkeep...I think he's had enough now..."
[Tolkien:] "No, I don't think he has...!"

i love a/b/o steddie where they get started like so young that if it was someone i knew irl i'd have a panic attack. like,, mated right out of high school, baby pops out a year later, they've got like five kids by the time they're 25
thinking about an au where they were already together pre- start of s4 and steve goes through the whole thing like three months pregnant. like he's stressed about the baby and eddie and eddie's SUPER stressed about the baby and steve, like eddie's trying to get steve to sit this one out for the baby and steve has to yell at him to stop bc yeah, he's worried about losing their first child, but if he sat at home while everyone else dealt with the upside down and someone didn't come back??? he'd never be able to live with himself
and when the bats get eddie and steve tries to use the mating bond to share some of eddie's pain, help him hold on until they get to the hospital, eddie weakly tries to tell him not to, to think of the baby. and steve's just. not having it. and once eddie wakes up from his medically induced coma he's like :(( why'd you do that and steve is just. so mad. he says yeah, if i had lost the baby (he doesn't, she's fine) that would have been the most terrible pain i'd ever felt. but it would have been worse if i lost you. and eddie's like. oh. bc maybe part of him has always been thinking that steve's only stuck with him bc he's the father of their kid. but no, steve loves him.
so eddie's crying, and steve's crying, and then steve shows eddie the ultrasound they did during eddie's coma to check the baby hadn't been hurt by the week of stress and danger and pain-sharing, and it's the first time they've been able to actually see the shape of a baby in all the weird white noise of an ultrasound, and now they're both crying even harder

I was at a museum of natural history looking at deer & moose antler's today when I thought about your au where Lucifer is Alastors bio dad and how cool would be if the (lucifer & charlie) morningstar's calling card were antler horns? they usually hide them in their normal form & the fact that Alastor has his horns out is a subtle sign that he's one of them? even tho he doesn't know, anyway, hope you have a good day!
Hm, while I do really like the aesthetics of deer/moose antlers, I don't really want to change anything overmuch about any of the characters' designs for this AU. I personally think that Charlie's and Lucifer's horns work very well for them as they are.
I mean look at that. Beautiful.
I also love the irony that stags - Alastor's animal motif - are a symbol of Jesus Christ. Alastor's not a Christ-like figure by any means, but I like how it sets a divide between him and the Morningstars while still giving him a connection to a biblical figure. Because ultimately, he's not a proper part of their family. He's the bastard, the mistake. Lucifer pretty much looked down on Alastor from the get go, and even after learning that Alastor's his son he still does somewhat.
There's a world of difference between the life Alastor lived and the one Charlie did. He was mixed race in the era of Jim Crow laws, and grew up watching his poor black mother get pushed around and abused by the rich white men she worked for, until one of those men ultimately killed her. That same man took Alastor in out of a twisted sense of guilt, but pretty much treated Alastor like a servant. And Alastor was very aware that if his skin had been a little darker, that man would have just killed him too.
Charlie, on the other hand, grew up in a palace with two loving, if flawed, parents. While Lucifer fell short in a lot of ways, he provided her with anything and everything she could have wanted growing up. Decadent food, infinite toys, magical pets that served doubly as friends and protectors.
This is getting away from me a little. I'm very much not an authority on racism, but I know these sorts of things must affect the dynamic between Alastor and the rest of the Morningstars. While Lucifer and Charlie aren't human, their skin is very very very white. There's no way that didn't play into Alastor's reaction to Lucifer assuming he was the bellhop. As much as Alastor tries to lean into his identity as a demon, he still started as a human being and still has a human soul.
That is to say, even with the blood relation, Alastor is set apart from the Morningstars, and he feels that divide much more strongly than they do. He does have design elements in common with them - in fact, many elements of his design are downright satanic - but his design contrasts nicely against them too; the overtly red pallet, the always visible horns, the red sclera. That's actually part of what got me thinking about this AU in the first place. So I feel like the fact that their horns don't match really works well for this AU.
