After the last infographic, PaliRev received many questions on the meaning of the kufiya and culturally appropriate usage. Palestinians have asked that everyone willing wear the kufiya in solidarity with their struggle and to unite. Of course, this should be done with respect to the importance and history surrounding the kufiya, and proper care shown to the garment. Thank you all for your strength!
[image id: an image with a white background. Medium sized gray text reads, "WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT". Below, large text colored with the Palestinian flag finishes, "PALESTINIAN KUFIYA". There follows an olive green block with white lettering. A white circle partially covers the left-hand corner, a depiction of a Kufiya surrounded by olive branches. The kufiya is a white and black checkered scarf with tied ends. The first line of text is bolded. It reads, "Also known as a keffiyeh, shemagh, or hatta, the kufiya was wrapped around Palestinian rebels' faces during the British Mandate of Palestine and 1936-1939 Arab Revolt to avoid arrest. When banned by authorities, Palestinians all wore kufiya to protect rebels. After illegal Israeli occupation forces banned the Palestinian flag from 1967 to 1993, the kufiya was used to symbolize national identity."
A low opacity gray text between boxes reads, @PaliRev.
Below is a white box with a slight shadow outlining it. In olive green text, one section asks, "What do the patterns represent?" Beside it is an image of the kufiya's design, with a fishnet pattern on top, three bold black lines in the middle, and two rows of olive leaves on bottom. Black text reads, "The fishnet pattern is for Palestinian connection to the sea, knotting together, and the barbed wire of occupation. As the tree lives 300-600 years, olive leaves represent resilience and ties to the land. The bold lines represent trade routes across historic Palestine."
A second section header in olive green text reads, "Who can wear the kufiya?" Below it, black text says, "You, me, and anyone in solidarity with Palestinians, resisting oppression, and honoring its significance and history. The kufiya is not restricted to any group or gender, a symbol of cultural heritage and identity for many in the Middle East, but an international symbol of activism and unity."
A small olive green box at the bottom of the shadowed white box has white text in it which reads, "Where can I get one that supports Palestinians?"
Below the white box and at the bottom of the page are four QR codes with labels beneath them. The first is Hirbawi, the second is Handmade Palestine, the third is KUVRD, and the fourth is Palestine Shirts. /end id.]

I always got the impression that in the original book, all of Haigha's interactions are an extension of Hatta's comments, as if Haigha was following after him. So, what if Hare stole Hatter's place in American McGee's? Why not, yesyes

Impossibilities
Heartless, Cath and Alice, post-book by however long until Alice is in Wonderland. She's acting as a maid for some reason... Idk either. It's Cath reminiscing about Jest.
"It is impossible." Alice whispered, the delicate flower crumpled in her palm and she reeled back as the heavy stench of blood hit her... Right into the Queen's skirt.
"Your-" Alice tried for a curtsy. "Your Majesty, I'm afraid-"
The Queen waved her hand impatiently. "I am in no mood to hear your pitiful try of an excuse just..." She trailed off, deflating. The Queen gazed at the flowers with an expression Alice may have mistaken for mourning if she hadn't known the woman in question. "Just... Bring the tea, dear." She said at last.
Alice nodded and hurried off, far too quick to be proper but the thought scarcely crossed the young girl's mind. "And-" The Queen's voice hasn't regained it's regal quality just yet. "I once knew a man who spoke of impossibility as a challenge to be conquered." She laughed, a brittle sound. Such was unknown to Alice. Something in the Queen's voice changed when she spoke again. There was, if Alice wasn't mistaken, hope laced in with the stubborn bitterness years on the throne had left her with. "Impossibility was his speciality."
Alice froze in the doorway. "He sounds spectacular."
The Queen briefly touched her fingers to her lips, smiling fondly. Alice caught the moment in the vanity's reflection, but suspected it was not for her eyes to witness.
"He was." The Queen whispered. "Dear Hearts, he was."

I have now spent an additional at least 10 minutes crying about how tragic and sad the White Rabbit’s love for Mary Ann was and then another at least 15 minutes crying over the End of Time (and the end of the book) and let me tell you it did not help that the author led us right into The Looking-Glass because I knew that Hatta and Haigha exist so they did end up together again when the new game began I am a MESS

Happy Ending?
Cath, post-ending, fluff
Catherine called for a carriage immediately.
Two months had passed since Peter Peter's execution. Two months, slow as syrup making it's way down a mountain.
"My darling!" The king squealed, for a moment Cath feared he meant to grab hold of her skirt. Afterall, his small size gave him every opportunity to do so. He didn't, for that would be improper. Instead he simply stood, red-faced and looked up at her. "Where are you off to?" He asked, forcing a jovial tone to go along with his beetroot face.
Cath met his gaze. Surprisingly, the king didn't flinch away. "Home." She said.
Catherine called for a carriage immediately.
A carriage that would take her to Rock Turtle Manor.
A carriage that would take her to the closest thing she had left to home. The bedroom where he'd whisked her away, the tree he climbed, the sea cave where he'd told her such wonderful things...
I can't stop thinking about you either, Lady Pinkerton.
Catherine felt herself smile for the first time in months.
She stopped short, mere steps from the carriage.
A smile wasn't possible. She was without a heart. Without emotion, or feeling.
The sister's had taken her heart in exchange for Peter's head. All Cath could possibly feel was rage.
She pondered this for a moment, her minding wandering back to Jest and their final moments together... And then it was clear.
The sisters had her heart.
But she had Jest's.
Jest had offered her his heart, and she accepted.
In the same way Cath had given her own to him. But now he was gone and her heart belonged to the sisters.
Perhaps she had given away something that wasn't hers to give.
Cath closed her eyes as tears welled up behind them.
Catherine fisted her skirt and climbed, unladylike, into the carriage. Jest gave her this chance, and she wasn't going to let it slip away.

The drive from downtown Dubai to Khor Fakkan was dramatic and indelibly impressive. It was the leaving behind of a futuristic steely utopia, then past the desert landscapes to an enclave of Sharjah that is meditatively mountainous, opening up to the cyan-to-cerulean waters of the Gulf of Oman.
I hired a driver who came to pick me up from my hotel in downtown Dubai. It was around 7 am. We got to Khor Fakkan around 9:00 am, considering some slight traffic getting out of Dubai.
The first stop was at Sheesh Park. A lush green park surrounded by rounded ridges of the Hajar mountains that opened up in 2020. It has bbq picnic areas for families. There's a cafe by an 80 feet artificial waterfall. And winding staircase up the mountains to extensive walkways with panoramic views of the park.
This was a great recreational spot for families, hikers, or people just getting away from urban sprawls to breathe better and rejuvenate. However, I wouldn't say that this place is accessible to anyone who uses a wheelchair. Unless the individual or a personal caretaker can maneuver the wheelchair through uneven roads leading up to the cafe, it's not a hundred percent accessible.

Heartless by Marissa Meyer Book Review
“A heart, once stolen, can never be taken back.”
Background : I read the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer about a year ago and I absolutely loved that series, so I thought I would try this book too. Alice’s Wonderland, a world where it makes complete sense to have no sense, has always been fascinating to me. In all honesty, I already knew how this book would end (idk how, but I tend to spoil a lot of things for myself), but I decided to read it anyway for the experience.
Setting : 10/10
Meyer did such an amazing job of bringing in the wonder and magic of Wonderland (or Hearts in this case). She stayed very true to the original book and sequel. I also really enjoyed how the book was partly inspired by the Victorian era, with all the courts and titles. There was a viable explanation to almost all of the characters and places in the original. I think the setting was definitely the highlight to this book and I loved exploring the different places.
Characters : 8/10
The characters, Catherine and Jest in particular, had a lot of depth to them. I was a little confused with the romance because it felt like the characters kept changing their minds. But, at the end, I found myself rooting for them even though I knew that it wasn’t going to work out. Jest was so charismatic, funny, kind, and just amazing. He really deserved the world. The development of Catherine from a harmless, sweet girl to the murderous Queen of Hearts was done so well in my opinion. She gradually became harsher, angrier, and more reckless, and the ending was the final straw. Also, it was so satisfying seeing how characters like Hatta and Mary Ann ended up the way they were in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Plot : 7/10
The first 3/4 of this book was whimsical and filled with romance, and I can understand why some people would think it was too boring, but I loved that part. Catherine juggling between her dream of a bakery, her desire to be with Jest, and her parents’ desire for her to marry the King was interesting to read, especially with sprinkles of the Jabberwock and fancy balls. However, the last 1/4 of the book escalated very quickly. It was a whirlwind of action and angst, and I felt lost and left behind. The narration also turned very creepy with the entrance of the sisters (I forget their official name), and I was glad to finish this book and get out of that weird headspace. Looking back, I think the ending and mystery were done very well, but I can’t forget the disorienting experience of reading this book for the first time.
“To be all right implies an impossible phase. We hope for mostly right on the best of our days.”
Conclusion : Overall, I would give this book a 7.5/10. It was much more entertaining and magical than I expected. It definitely makes me want to read Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland again, or watch the movie. Thanks for reading this far! :D
