Just a journey through my music that the shuffle did while I made dinner

It started with Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton, which I fell in love with when I heard it in one of SPN Cons.

Then it was Glee Cast cover of Coldplay's Scientist, which brought me to my 2014-ish when the tv-show was still airing.

Awkward Silence by Stray Kids - the dorkiest song of theirs, makes me dance and sing along every single time.

Then there was Avi Kaplan with Change on the Rise. I love it, really. Always having the chills from his voice.

Spine Breaker by BTS makes me bop my head and go "yeah yeah yeah" along with the boys. Every time I see Jin with his choreo for it 😅

Pibody Pabody ✨ 9 and three quarters by TOMORROW X TOGETHER. Guys are something else, really. Makes me happy.

Lying is the Most Fun a Girl Can Do - Panic! At The Disco. From their earlier days, the vocals always amaze me.

No Curtain Call by Maroon 5. This group stays my favorite for at least 8 years now, and no other group can get that place (yet, BTS? 👀 SKZ? 👀 idk)

G-Eazy & Halsey - Him & I. Let's just say that I loved Halsey for a few years now, and she never fails to please my taste with her works.

딱 좋아 (Just Right) by GOT7. Just a few days ago I realized that this song is back from 2015, and the music video is funny and just so good, ugh

nate sewell x f!detective for the tranquil / thrill prompt word count: 1800+

or in which i try my best to contribute something for wayhaven appreciation week (@otomefandomevents) even though it takes me forever to write literally anything. there really is no plot so apologies in advance. a lot of this i had written before (at 3 am because i apparently like to torture myself) but just didn’t know how to use it, so if this seems like i just threw a bunch of words together, you are absolutely right. title taken from halsey’s finally // beautiful stranger (aka one of the softest songs i've ever heard)

It wasn’t fair, she thinks, how easily he can unravel her with just a glance.

Her breath stills when she meets his gaze across the dimmed space; the deep brown sends ripples of heat washing over her body in an intoxicating embrace of desire, warmth, and something she just can’t describe nor place other than just… Nate. Her skin feels like it’s on fire, her cheeks flaming an embarrassing pink, one she knows that Farah would undoubtedly tease her for if not for the fact that it is only her and Agent Sewell tonight.

The reminder of the other agents’ absence and the privacy that the two can now share with Nate joining her for her stroll home only fans the growing fire in her veins, one that she hopes he can’t detect. Without the inconvenient interruptions that just always seem to litter into their time together, this quiet moment alone is peaceful. Calm. And yet, it is dangerous. Uncertain. Because without the barriers of the world limiting them, she’s both delighted and petrified to see exactly how powerful this fire can grow.

He shoots her another smile, one as dazzling as the wisps of the fiery sky above them. It isn’t a long walk from the precinct to her house, but it is one that she finds herself walking slower for, hoping to prolong this moment she’s lucky enough to share with him. From his smaller, purposeful steps, he knows this too.

She lets out strangled breath, trying to collect herself to no avail. Being near him is just... intoxicating. Her body responded to his presence almost instinctively: a slow burn starting in the deepest parts of her soul, a shiver of electricity dancing on her skin. It’s overwhelming, thrilling, breathtaking, the way he managed to make her heart completely still and accelerate.

There are times, many times, that she just cannot know if he feels the same. If he feels this fire, if he feels dazed and thoughtless and breathless from simply being in her presence, if he can’t think of anything but her. It’s terrifying, the intensity of these feelings without knowing the extent of his. And Nate is keen. Perceptive. Powerful. He could notice—he does notice, she knows, from the slight lift of his lip, the slow blinks of his eyelashes, the heat in his eyes—the effects he has on her, the acceleration of her heart, the dilation of her pupils, just the incapability to function, to be human in his presence. He’s at an advantage, and she just does not know if she should be terrified or eased.

Her apartment is only a few blocks away, but she doesn’t want this moment to end. She turns to him, lips forming a sentence that she instantly forgets as she’s soon enraptured in him again.

He stops and looks at her, and something passes between them, something unexplainable (and perhaps, that may be for the best, for some things are just better left unspoken, unexplained, mythical and magical, things words just had no need to describe) and electrical. The streetlight above them flickers, setting an almost surreal, murky amber glow above them. The rest of the world fades out, irrelevant, unimportant, as the only thing she can focus on, once again, is Nate. She swallows, her pulse jumping with the close proximity of his figure, and she knows he knows this, with the soft smile he gives her as he steps closer, one that says a million words, and it is both enough and could never be all at once.

The roar in her ears, the one that whispered and screamed “Nathaniel, Nathaniel, Nathaniel...”, thunders and booms; her senses swirl and obliterate as the world around her shake and daze into a drunken mess of just... Nate. He curves his hand around her jaw, his thumb grazing her lower lip, his fingers sweeping through her hair.

She can’t breathe.

He watches her reactions—her body, her face, her lips—to make sure she’s okay with his touch, and she thinks, she knows that she wouldn’t be able to pull away from the soft dips of his fingertips even if she wanted to (and she wants this, she wants him to a dizzying, astonishing amount she feels shouldn't be possible).

The roar in her ears is deafening, her blood boiling, her head tipsy and delirious. She couldn’t breathe, couldn’t hear, can’t see or think. She feels drunk, intoxicated from the thrill of his presence, his proximity, the world swirling into a dazed mess before her. And yet, the world is silent, tranquil. Her body relaxed at his touch. And her mind is clear, focused and fixated on him, noting every movement he makes, every breath he takes, every glance, every twitch, every blink, every shift, everything; whether she likes it or not (but, oh, how can she ever dislike this emotion?), it is impossible not to take in Nathaniel Sewell, not to focus on him, not to love him. The touch of long, nimble fingers, the glance of his deep, cordial eyes, the heat of his calming, gentle presence, even just the thought of him in all of his intoxicating, suave glory, made her feel... full. As if even for just an imaginary, mythical second, that everything is right in the world. She feels content, at peace, and yet she feels like she could set the world on fire. It is intoxicating and liberating; it is mesmerizing and gratifying; it’s just... Nate. He’s just Nate, and oh, how much she loved him for it.

He leans closer, his eyes lidded with a million thoughts and emotions swarming beneath them. She wants to know what they are, every thought, every emotion; she wants to know everything.

And then… finally.

It takes her by surprise, even though it shouldn’t, but he just seems to make every logical thought in her mind disappear. But underneath a flickering streetlight, sanctioned beneath the backdrop of a darkening sky, Nathaniel Sewell is kissing her.

And everything—the roar in her ear, the noise in the background, the beating of her heart—went silent. The only thing she knows, the only thing she can focus on, can comprehend, can understand is Nate, oh Nate, the curve of his lips, the softness of his hair, the warmth of his skin. And she’s a goner, unable to turn back to a life before she knew of the sounds he makes when she kisses him back. (And she knows that she would never go back, could never go back to life before this, before the arrival of this beautiful, intoxicating man and the chaotic world he brings with him.)

Maybe time stopped, maybe the world stopped spinning and laid completely still, silent in awe, just as she is, at this moment. If she could think beyond the aura of his scent and touch, she would know that this could not possibly be true, that the world—as always—went on despite them. But she also knows that his kisses are gratifying, so electric and exhilarating, like a black hole pulling her in until all gravity is lost under his touch. She can feel, distantly, her knees buckling, her figure supported only by his strong arms pulling her as close as the two can be against him; she can feel, distantly, her heart pounding and skipping, like the crossing ripples of a clear lake set in motion, unable to turn back; she can feel, distantly, the fluttering of her stomach, like a million butterflies flying into the horizon in a dazzling array of colors. She can feel—oh, how she just feels —everything, and yet they didn’t matter, because Nate, Nathaniel Sewell is the only thing that mattered.

His hands are everywhere, a mind of their own, traveling down the length of her back, entangling in her hair, sanctioned on her waist. They move as if he cannot get enough, and oh, she knows she feels the same. She’s melting into him (and she never once understood why people described kissing as such until now when it feels as if every piece of her—every molecule, every atom, every parcel of the cosmos and the stars—is dissolving into him). She inhales his scent, the intoxicating fragrance of his shampoo and soap, and thinks that she wants to be surrounded by it always, forever engulfed in the familiar and comforting aroma. She feels his breath, hot and heavy, dancing over hers when he gasps for air as if she sucked it right out of him.

She doesn’t know who pulls away first, their faces breaths away from the other, his forehead resting against hers. His eyes are heavy with heat, with lust and longing and love, and she knows, or maybe she always knew, that he feels all of this too, all of this dangerous and incomprehensible yet breathtaking and sensational heap of feelings, indescribable in all the best ways. The warmth fills her again, one undeniably of love and wonder that she somehow managed to entangle herself into the arms of this man so wondrous and extraordinary as if the cosmos itself sculpted him from stardust and elixir.

She feels restless, breathless, senseless, but moreover, she feels happy, she feels complete. She knows no matter what fate has in stored for her that this moment—this incredible, divine moment with this extraordinary man—will always, always be a memory treasured, tucked into the confines of her soul for centuries yet to come.

“Hi,” he smiles, his eyes dancing with joy and so much admiration and love she thinks she’s going to combust.

“Hi,” she whispers back, her voice laced with wonder and glee. She feels like she’s flying. “So… that happened.”

His eyes twinkle even more as the stars accumulate in his smile. “So it did,” he responds, light and breezy, devoid of worries, as if he’s flying right next to her. “What… what are you thinking?”

“I think…” she just doesn’t seem to find the right words, all thoughts but the ones of kissing him and just him disappearing from her conscious, “I like kissing you.”

“Oh yeah?” She doesn’t know how, but she thinks his eyes grew even brighter, illuminating better than the stars that just began slowly forming above. “I think I like kissing you too.”

“That’s good.” Her voice is still breathless, her forehead still against his, bodies still entangled and embracing. She doesn’t think she can get enough of this man; she doesn’t think she ever will.

“I do think, however,” he says, a shiver of mischief and exuberance in the uplift of his lips, “that I need to do it more. Just to be certain.”

She can maybe hear the faint chirping of crickets in the background as Wayhaven begins to settle down for the night. There’s a gradient of darkening blue above them, the last wisps of golden celestial light fading as Apollo retires. The world is peaceful, silent even, and she wishes this moment will last forever.

She smiles back at him, a million promises and declarations in them. “Of course,” she says, thinking that she would give this man the world should he ask for it, “just to make sure.”

we know taylor has written 100s if not thousands of songs and some certainly would not fit within her image but she may still want to get them out to the public. we know for a fact wrote this is what you came for under a pseudonym and i think it’s because it sounded too much like she was admiring a woman (and i agree with kaylors that ‘lightning strikes every time she moves’ = karlie being at a photoshoot and the flashes of the camera are the lightning, such a good song!)

1. taylor is really good friends with halsey so maybe she gave her the song

anyway it’s a complete reach. halsey probably wrote this song about her own experiences and we don’t wanna invalidate her or take away from that or her talent. but the song slaps and it’s kinda hard to ignore the wonderland reference!!!
