I’ve been wanting to see the Henry Ford Museum for a long time, so it was cool to finally get to go! So much America, very Car. 

It’s actually a really wild and interesting assembly of historical objects, monuments to manufacturing ingenuity, and random weirdness. I got to see the Weinermobile (1952), stand in the actual bus Rosa Parks was arrested in, stare perplexedly at the chair Lincoln was shot in, share my favorite dumb conspiracy theory about JFK while studying the car HE was shot in (I swear I wasn’t doing an Assassination Tour, they just have a lot of it), and check out the new Hallmark Ornaments History collection, which the museum absorbed when the Hallmark Ornament Museum in Indiana went out of business. It’s a fascinating collection, but it’s a lot to take in (that case is one of five in the little enclosure where the ornaments are kept). 

There were also a ton of cool cars that nobody was shot or arrested in, but I just gawked at those and didn’t take pictures.

Back when my family had more disposable income, my mom was BIG into these kitschy Hallmark collector ornaments. I never wanted one… until now.

My mom unwrapped it with a flourish. When you press the button he recites ode to spot. It’s sitting on my mantle cause I don’t do trees. But sometimes I hit the button and smile.

Last year, Hallmark put out a set of talking Star Trek ornaments, but McCoy and Scotty were left out. Horrors!

They released them this year and here they are.

They speak (original cast voices) various scenes from the “Mirror, Mirror” episode. Here’s one of the conversations between McCoy and Scotty below. You have to have the entire set connected together (at $35 each) for them to work, so I passed on buying this.

Somebody is buying these though, as McCoy sold out while I was in this store. See his little section above is now void of Bones.

Happy Holidays! Did you know Hallmark released two Ben 10 ornaments in their Keepsakes line?

In 2009 they released one for Alien Force, featuring Ben on his hoverboard!

In 2010 they released one for Ultimate Alien, with an Ultimatrix dial showing Ben coming through it on one side, and Ultimate Swampfire emerging through the opposite side!
