A French cop killed a teen this morning. During a fucking traffic control.

I don't care that a 17 year-old was driving a car illegally, what the fuck are they pointing a gun at people during a fucking traffic control? What the fuck are you shooting people during a traffic control? We're in France, putain de bordel de merde, people don't have guns with them, you don't point a gun at an unarmed man. 13 people have been killed during a traffic control in 2022, and only 5 cops have been taken to court, the others were released.

The French cops are known as the most violent cops in Europe. They are so protected by our gov, they don't have body-camera, they don't wear their collar number (they aren't punished for it), and the gov tried to make it illegal to film them to "not put their lives and their family in danger". They shut down an app that was created to post videos of police violence (verbal and "light" bigoted remarks in majority) to warn people about the area where those bastards work. This morning's accident was filmed by a bystander, who posted it to social media. Thanks to them, we know that the cops lied about what happened (they say that the car was driving toward them, and he shot to protect themselves) and that he shot the kid at close range by the car's window, directly into the chest, when the kid was starting the car (the engine was turned off!). Worse, he told the kid "I'm going to put a bullet in your head" and his colleague said "Shot him" before the shot was fired. This was murder, plain and simple. And yet, the gov and the police force are spreading the lie, and when confronted with the video, say "I wonder what he did to make them feel threaten!". Nothing, he did nothing, they killed him for nothing, you bunch of salopards de mes deux couilles. And, threaten? Armed cops, adults, felt "threaten" by an unarmed teenager? Wtf are they doing this job?

And what does ce connard de Darminin fucking said? He defended them! He said "it is sad that a 17 years old is dead, but a lot of cops dies during traffic control, and it's cops' family that have to cry their child." What? A cop's life is more important than a fucking child? Also, infantilizing grown ass men and women when a 38 year-old who works for you killed a child and is lying about it. And also, ONLY 3 TO 10 COPS DIES IN FRANCE EACH YEAR! And I can fucking bet you that the majority don't die during a traffic control. More people have been killed by cops during a traffic control than cops dies each year, and we know they kill people at other moments. 46 cops died of suicide last year. MORE COPS KILL THEMSELVES THAN THEY DIE ON THE JOB! And when they die on the job, they have a whole ceremony with the president, that's how I hate this man with a burning passion It would be my child, I would try to kill him. I don't think I would be thinking straight enough to not want to kill him for saying such bs. This man wants a date with Madame la Guillotine so much.

The city of Nanterre is very angry, especially at the cops, so they send more cops to deal with "urban violence" and like, fuck you. You cannot name the violence from your cops, but you label the anger in response to a murder "violence".

Rest in peace, Naël. You deserved better than this gov.

Thoughts on König's childhood:

CW/TW: emotional, verbal & physical abuse, talk of personality disorders (by someone who is not a psychologist lmao), aggravated assault/murder, self-hate

So, I wrote König as a sociopath (otherwise known as antisocial personality disorder) with borderline pd. He's also neurodivergent (prob. ADHD). Now I don't know shit about these things but I tried my best to do some research on different pds and neurodiversity and thought this potpourri might fit well in König's character profile.

Unlike psychopaths, sociopaths are made, not born. So his dad had a definite hand in creating one out of König. He thought his only son (K is an only child in my canon) was a freak because he was bigger than "normal" kids, tall and lithe and on top of everything else, behaved oddly. König was bullied at school which made him even more asocial and anxious, which in turn made his dad project his own insecurities onto König even more. He needed to imprint it on König that he's a freak by cutting him.

There was a strict routine and order in his childhood home: dinner was to be served at 6'o clock sharp, every piece of clothing had to be pedantically ironed, no tv past seven, etc. Any misstep on these rules and there would be violence, mainly verbal and emotional but at times, physical too. König's mother was never enough, nothing she did was ever enough. König for sure did everything wrong by simply existing. For a boy of his size, he learned to become surprisingly invisible at a very young age.

Sometime during his teenage years, he started to have enough. He started to rebel, learned how to walk tall and straight, started to jog and train inside his room, do 100 pushups every morning. The idea of joining the army was born during these times as well, and becoming a sniper was soon König's biggest dream.

He enjoyed when his schoolmates, even some of the teachers, began to fear him (if you cannot be loved, better be feared than ridiculed). He was the odd, silent, big freak who was only getting odder, bigger and more silent every day. People at school literally feared the day König would arrive at class with a gun.

His father started to cut him even more when he began to show signs of independence and grit. At some point König realized he could easily beat his own dad if he wanted to. At 15 he started to go to the gym, and a year after, when he saw his father yell at his mom about something utterly insignificant, he finally snapped, took a simple kitchen knife and drove it to daddy's ribs (16 times).

His mother had a tiny mental breakdown after that. She didn't want her child to get into trouble, but seeing such a violent murder was the last straw for a woman who had tried to keep the peace by playing by this crazy tyrant's rules. The reason she hadn't left was because she feared he might kill them both. (Also the breakdown was far more severe than the one reader had after the break room incident, and it def. brought back some not so fond memories)

König got the minimum penalty for the crime because he was a juvenile offender. His mother forgave her child quite soon and deemed that her husband was evil and that König did the right thing for freeing them from such a man.

Things got better after that, but his mother was forever damaged from everything that had happened. She began to blame herself for not divorcing her husband sooner, for then he would still be alive and König wouldn't have suffered so much in his hands. One of the reasons König started to wear the hood was because he didn't want to remind his mother of what had been done to him. Instead, the mask only caused her only more pain. She started to avoid her own child, even fear him, feeding into König's insecurities and anxiety even more.

When König finally joined the army at the age of 17, it was to get away from home and pursue his dreams to become a sniper. He thought it might be best for his mother, too, if he wasn't around the house to remind her what had gone down and how her only child was not only a monster, but a murderer, too.

König's childhood is so filled with trauma that he has pretty much distanced himself from it. The geographical distance helps too, and he's not keen on taking reader on a vacation to Austria, for example. But he will open up about his past if and when he sees it's safe to do so. Sadly enough, the thing that bugs him the most about it is he fears he might look weak in reader's eyes. He's been in a survival mode for so long that he doesn't quite understand that he was a child at the time, and should've received love and care.

Btw I totally got inspired by @random-thot-generator 's gospel truth on how König's first kill was his own father! Also the Conan t-shirt as his (first) mask is my canon now

SAME I cannot get him out of my brain. So the ones I use so much that they're probably getting old are that he had some confusing feelings for William as a teen and is very overdramatic about shaming himself for it, that he has OCD or OCPD, and that I always headcanon him as bisexual for literally no reason beyond my own amusement. But to try to branch out from those a little:

He definitely seems to have a concerning relationship with alcohol, but I don't think he likes being drunk. I think being in control of himself is important to him, so while he definitely uses alcohol to take the edge off and self-medicate, I think he usually stops drinking at mildly tipsy (even as he slowly stretches his tolerance so that "mildly tipsy" is a lot more drinks in than it would be for most). For the same reason, I think he might have also experimented with all the other drugs that were readily available at the time, but didn't much like any of them. Everything else either dulled him too much or made him feel out of control, and he doesn't like either feeling.

A newer one that I'm having a lot of fun with is the idea that he and Bond are really chummy.

I think he likes going to orchestral performances and the opera and so on. All the pomp and fuss and being crammed in boxes with the sort of people he hates is tedious, but he likes to just close his eyes and bask in the music.

Every since I read The Adventure of the Goodwood Hunt, fox-hunting Albert has been very important to me. The aesthetic of this man in the full getup, on a horse. *dreamy sigh*

I sometimes headcanon that he and Mycroft have actually been loosely acquainted and flirting with each other in passing since well before the start of canon. Their first conversation in the manga isn't really an introduction. They already seem known to each other at least in passing.

Less headcanon and more Thing I'd Actually Love To See Happen, but I tend to think he and Louis have a little bit of a distance between them. I think they bonded over William primarily, and though they do love each other, there's just not as intense of a connection between them as they each have with William. But I think it'd be really cute if, as they're all sorting out their new dynamics post-timeskip, they end up in the kitchen together and just have a really really good time cooking (Albert is in charge of anything heat-related: Louis handles the knives). And it becomes a Thing they do together quite often.

I think he's the most dangerous of the Moriarthree because, unlike his brothers, there's an edge of compulsion and emotional dysregulation to his violence. He also seems to be the one of the three who does not have a particular method of attacking/killing he's attached to: just off the top of my head we've seen him strangle, stab, and poison. We can assume he's used guns as well (don't remember if we've seen it.) William usually defaults to his sword and Louis to his knives, and though they all use various methods, Albert seems like the one who you're least likely to be able to guard against because you don't know what he's coming at you with.

Offscreen during or not long after the dinner party, he gives Sherlock the most terrifying shovel talk that has ever been given, and then proceeds to welcome him cheerfully into the family and be very friendly from then on. Louis is like, "If you hurt Brother, I'll stab you in the heart," and Sherlock goes, "Oh thank god, if that ever happens, please make sure you get to me before Albert does."

Could you give headcanons about Bane’s touch starvation/relationship with physical touch, especially when it comes to his partner?

Bane is touched starved later in life, but perhaps it wasn’t always like this. Allow me to break it down. Of course, this entails my personal backstory for Cad Bane when it comes to my version of his past, which includes not one but three separate “ships” on his timeline. 1) Jango Fett. 2) Hondo Ohnaka*. 3) Shriv Suurgav. Though Hondo is special, and their fates seem to be intertwined. >D

It also depends on the context, like if we're going off my OC Zulara. In other scenarios, my Bane is not shy to sex, but may still be adverse to physical touch.

Bear with me. Or not.

As a boy, Bane’s father was not very affectionate or loving. He was a hard ass, but he provided for his family. He felt that Bane (Lumoon) should work in the factories alongside him and his mother, but Bane would later refuse this, which caused a rift in their relationship.

However, as a small youngling Bane received love and affection from his mother (life-giver) and his siblings to a degree, but especially his baby sister. She adored Bane, idolized him, and would follow him around. It is the loss of that love in various ways and due to various circumstances that begins his downward spiral.

Bane with Jango is an interesting relationship because they are a lot alike in that both are hotheaded, quick to anger, don’t know how to take no for an answer, and are competitive and money driven, but Bane’s sour attitude and brat-like behavior often does not sit well in Fett’s book. They both have their set ways, their own hatreds or dislikes, but work well together as they are also both confident and sure of their abilities. They trust each other; they always have each other’s back though they may argue, but the arguments come often and come hard, especially during Bane’s mentorship, and ESPECIALLY if one or both have been heavily drinking alcohol, which they often do in this case.

Bane is not exactly the best student. I don’t mean that he is not capable, I mean that in he is hard to teach due to his stubborn nature.

Long story short, this is not the kind of love Bane needs. He learns to fear the one he cares about, or assumes that violence and anger is appropriate to express in any situation, and that things are not solved by talking, but by throwing punches when the going gets too tough to tolerate.

Moving to Hondo, in this version of events, they both share common elements to their past and way of life. While Hondo is the sunshine one, Bane is the “moon,” which ties into his “real name” as well for me. It’s an enemies to lovers; more from Bane’s end as I am sure you can imagine. Hondo is an acquired taste, and it takes a damn long time for Bane to come around.

However, when he does, it may as well be the best damn thing that has ever happened to him. Hondo does not skimp on love, affection, proper communication, or kindness and understanding. While Ohnaka has his work cut out for him, it is the outcome of the story that eventually leaves Bane depressed, jaded, angry, and incapable of being with another for a very long time.

When I say a long time, I mean at least 18-20 years. This man is not above holding a grudge, or talking himself down to the point he thinks no one wants to have anything to do with him. He’s made it clear he’s a killer, a gun for hire, and nearly everyone in the Galaxy knows and is terrified of the name Cad Bane.

It becomes a lonely life, a sad life. Bane only has his little droid as his companion, and while Todo does his best, he is not organic and cannot provide the kind of attention Bane may secretly want, or needs.

The only people Bane “touches” are crooks and thieves, evil-doers, those he’s paid to catch and kill; he “touches” them when they’re thrown in stuncuffs, or when they’re being tossed into a cell aboard his ship. Otherwise, he does not come into physical contact with anyone else for any reason, and it remains this way, most likely affecting his mental health and overall disposition.

He is angry, moody, hateful, bitter, and mean in his 50s and 60s, long after the Clone Wars, and on our way to the timeline of the Book of Boba Fett. Before he meets Shriv or reencounters Hondo, Bane has a wall up the size of a planet and keeps to himself. Without Todo, it’s possible he would have sunk into a hole so deep he would never be able to climb out. He’s at least some form of stimulation, able to hold a conversation, and provides some kind of therapy service without even truly meaning to.

Headcanons:

Should it be Shriv or otherwise, for Bane to encounter a new partner after being so utterly alone for so long and without a single kind word from others, you would be surprised how sensitive he might be, both physically and emotionally, not to mention his gear and how it covers nearly every inch of his body. He wears multiple layers of clothing and armor, thus making it even harder for him to be touched or caressed. It’s like a shield for him to hide behind, and he may not be too keen to take it off.

If you manage to touch bare flesh, he may otherwise recoil or squirm at first without meaning to. He may even forcibly grab or halt their hand, giving you a look that could make your blood run cold. Of course, when I say squirm, I mean that the sensation of another living being’s skin against his own, or even a brush of a fingertip across his scales would cause him to tremble. In fact, should the touch be a soft one, one that expresses love or meant to be kind, Bane would do everything in his power to overcome what must be an overwhelming sensory experience.

The poor thing - should he be able to let his guard down enough and trusts you enough to do so - may even cry, though he would not make a show of it or be loud in any way. Just a thin sheen of tears dotting his cheeks, or droplets at the corner of his eyes as he once more tries to regain his composure.

If you kiss him kindly, he simply allows himself to be kissed; he might accept it gladly and willingly, or he may even still be so sensitive to touch that he at first cannot bear to fully embrace it.

To stroke his cheek and brush his tears away would cause more tears to fall; for nearly two decades he has been without, deprived of a single “human” connection, isolating himself, and perhaps even despising certain aspects of himself to reinforce the idea he’s only good for one thing and one thing only: killing.

If he’s into it, he may come around sooner than you think. Once given an opportunity, perhaps he is eager. He may lap at your mouth, take your face in his hands, or nuzzle the flat of his face into your cheek or hair. Despite his overall disposition, Bane can be a gentle lover with the right person, or if it suits his mood. You would never guess by looking, but Bane in my book can be submissive and breedable, but usually only in gay relationships where another male (Jango/Hondo) is able to put him in his place or satisfy his needs so well it knocks the attitude right out of him. Whereas if we play into typical gender roles, Bane can also be dominate and forceful, but in this scenario, he both wants AND needs a kind touch.

Expect a softness you did not know was possible coming from someone so ruthless, a kind of release of tension. He deserves to be cared for and babied, and he would in a very rare instance allow it though he may still harbor the belief he does not deserve it.

To me, Cad Bane has regrets. Regrets he buries and hides away deep down inside. Regrets that when they bubble to the surface may as well be like a volcano erupting as it is hard to stopper once the lava begins to flow. He would be at his most vulnerable, and it is not a pretty sight to see.

For most, I think it would break their hearts, despite him being such an “awful” person. He is only a product of his environment, poor life choices, and devastating past. He cannot help what he has become or what people see him as, but maybe the right person could help to set him straight if he allows them to get close.

I believe this is the kind of scenario that could lead him to being so terrible and coldhearted, especially during TBOBF. His personality seems to be reduced to nothing but anger and meanness. Deep down he’s most likely hurting. I believe there are many things that causes him to be depressed, which he takes it out on those around him and finds release through his job of bounty hunting. He’s grown used to being feared, hated, and looked down on. He expects nothing less, so to finally get even a scrap of compassion, a tiny modicum of affection, or a gentle touch would cause a deluge of feelings to come to the surface.

Maybe that’s just me.

also i thought it was fun that draco's spine and his penchant for violence are coming in at the same time. it's this common trope in d/h for draco's influence to make hermione more ruthless/murdery and that's all well and fun but i felt like not enough has been made of the opposite trope. hermione in canon is WAY more violent than draco. she's braver and angrier and just generally much less tolerant of bullshit. canon draco spoils for fights but doesn't put his money where his mouth is. canon hermione walks the walk every fucking time. lionheart!draco spent the past four years in the Hermione Jean Granger School of Talk Shit Get Hit, and he is graduating with HONORS, thanks very much.

For those two polls about violence, I want to expand on them here because it's fascinating to me.

I'm a 6/6 on the horror movie scale, meaning they don't upset me at all and I love them. There's certain genres I don't like as much, and those are ones like Saw that depict realistic body injury and dismembered etc. I even look away during some regular horror movie murders that are a bit too realistic, but I still enjoy the tension leading up to those moments. Hannibal is a great example of extreme gore that I can handle no problem, because all of the characters are usually dead when they're "displayed". Living characters in the process of being hurt can be a bit much, but monsters or body horror on already-dead characters is perfectly fine.

But real life violence? I'm a 1/6. Cannot handle it.

True Crime (which was on the poll as an example) doesn't bother me because usually they don't show the person's uncovered body at the crime scene out of respect. Crime scene photos without a body don't bother me. Autopsies of the body don't bother me. Seeing the body uncovered in context to where the violence was committed? Too much. Overall, true crime is something I actually enjoy.

News footage of ongoing events is usually ok too because they also don't normally show uncovered dead bodies in context. They also don't usually show the violence being actively committed to the people.

I cannot watch videos of real people experiencing real harm, or real deal bodies in context to where they were killed. I can't watch videos of skaters falling and breaking their limbs, for example. I can't watch police cam footage of police violence. I can't watch eyewitness recordings of police violence. I can't look at footage from war zones. I know people often share those videos and demand you "witness" the violence, but personally it's harmful to me.

I saw two videos of graphic gun deaths as a child, both in a history class. I saw the footage of JFK being shot (I think the teacher tried to hold up a piece of paper to cover the worst of it but believe me, I still saw far too much). I also saw footage of a kidnapping victim or POW being shot in the head while kneeling. I will never, ever forget those images. They are burned into my brain.

But again, I love horror movies. Just goes to show that what someone enjoys in fiction may be COMPLETELY opposite to what they can tolerate in real life.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called out the Republican Party, telling them to "connect the dots" following the deadly shooting in Colorado over the weekend.

"After Trump elevated anti-immigrant & anti-Latino rhetoric, we had the deadliest anti-Latino shooting in modern history," AOC said in a tweet on Sunday. "After anti-Asian hate w/COVID, Atlanta. Tree of life. Emanuel AME. Buffalo."

"And now after an anti-LGBT+ campaign, Colorado Springs," AOC continued.

A mass shooting at Club Q, an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, on Saturday night left at least five people dead and more than two dozen injured. The gunman, who is in custody, is a 22-year-old man who "used a long rifle during the shooting," police said Sunday.

AOC criticized Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert's response to the mass shooting.

Boebert, who is pro-gun rights and has notably pushed anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and legislation, tweeted on Sunday: "The news out of Colorado Springs is absolutely awful. This morning the victims & their families are in my prayers."

"This lawless violence needs to end and end quickly," she added.

AOC responded, "You don't get to 'thoughts and prayers' your way out of this. Look inward and change."

President Joe Biden denounced "horrific hate violence" in a statement released Sunday.

"We must drive out the inequities that contribute to violence against LGBTQI+ people. We cannot and must not tolerate hate," the statement said.

Biden also called for more to be done to rid of the gun violence in the country, adding that "we need to enact an assault weapons ban to get weapons of war off America's streets."

So, I’ve seen a post with a take on the Hob rescues Dream and going in guns blazing, because after world war 1 and 2, he would possibly be bitter and scarred to some degree, and so when he finds out about Dream being captured for decades and knowing the cruelty humans are capable of, particularly from WW2, he doesn’t particularly care what happens to the people who are holding his friend prisoner and when Dream locks eyes with him, he sees an emptiness in them, that wasn’t ever there before (it’s not permanent, but Hob has not quite healed yet from the wars) And because my brain loves angst, I want to raise you: Hob, who has lived through world war 1, the spanish flu and world war 2, who’s fought in both wars. He’s seen the cruelty of men and nature. He’s also killed many men himself and he’s watched many men, women and even some children die at the hands of others. He is haunted by all the faces of the people he killed and the ones he didn’t. The expressions on the faces of the ones that killed him (to the best of their knowledge) and the ones that simply couldn’t. He knows the stories of plenty of his comrades and he knows the stories of a fair few enemy soldiers. He’s seen how the cruelty of men and the cruelty of the orders given to them inflicts horrible harm on victims and twists the minds of the men following those orders. Hob has seen and felt first-hand how war and violence devastates humanity and he can not be any part of it anymore. So when he finds out that his Stranger has been captured and imprisoned, of course he is going to help. Of course he is going to rescue him, the thought of a friend suffering like that not something he could tolerate at the best of times, much less now. And Hob is still an optimist at heart, and he is still a clever and persistent man, he will still manage. But while Hob would like to say that he would do anything to rescue his Stranger, the truth is he wouldn’t. He can’t. He cannot kill another person, cannot end another life after all the lives he’s seen lost in the last handful of decades. He cannot see another person’s light go out in front of his eyes so soon. So Hob comes to rescue Dream. He fights the guards. He has weapons, he is prepared and he is skilled, the guards are far less skilled and caught by surprise. He could kill them easily, and Dream knows this, but instead he knocks them out without inflicting any permanent harm. He doesn’t use his gun, he barely uses his dagger, and he earns himself a bullet in the leg and a number of knife-wounds for it. And when he turns to his Stranger - his friend who is all but skin and bones and like on fucking display - when Dream sees the hurt in his eyes, this is when Dream realises for the first time just how dark and desolate humanities’ dreams have truly become in his decades of absence.

Hey y’all...

The easiest thing for me to do would be to get on here and say that the bigots and racists are banning books and trying to systematically eliminate transgender folks to protect children when we just witnessed another school shooting where children were actually fucking killed and ... crickets. I can say that gun violence is the number one cause of death among children or that this problem doesn’t exist outside the united states.  But I’d just be wasting my breath. These people, these politicians, don’t give a fuck.  They don’t give a single fuck.  That feeling of empathy you have where you can visualize the murdered children and the abject horror of the parents when they got that phone call or knock on the door ... yeah, they don’t have that.  They really don’t care.  They are seeing this shooting as another way to win.  As another way to prove people wrong and to make sure they always come out on top.  Another way to twist their vile rhetoric to target the LGBTQIA+ community.   Just look at social media.  These people are frothing at the mouth to say the shooter was transgender and that’s why he killed those people.  That this person intentionally attacked Christians and we cannot co-exist together.  And again, we can point out exactly why that is a completely debased and asinine and disgusting thing to say and all they’ll do is laugh.  As long as we continue to tolerate intolerance these people will thrive.  They will weaponize your empathy against you.  They cannot function as a society because all they have is ego and selfishness and narcissism.  You ever notice these folks never have any ideas on how to actually run a society? It’s always just a septic tank of hatred whenever they open their fowl fucking mouths.  Ban this, ban that, but no actual policies other than upholding an elite class of wealthy white oligarchs.  They thrive on anti-intellectualism that’s why they are trying to gut public education and privatize everything.  Private education only for the rich and only for the exact message that they want to convey.  A curated pipeline of hatred to insure their dogma is enshrined.  The people they THINK are intellectuals are just grifters and con-artists that learn how to use rhetorical jargon and lies to overwhelm anyone who actually tries to argue with them.  They pretend that everything is simple common sense and that only a moron would argue against them.  They then put on a façade of disbelief when called out. More antisemitic hate seen in L.A. after Kanye West’s remarks

Kanye West’s weeks-long spate of antisemitic comments drew a well-known hate group to Los Angeles this weekend for a demonstration of support on a 405 Freeway overpass, raising alarms from local officials and residents that the rapper’s rhetoric was inspiring more public bigotry.

West, also known as Ye, has attracted widespread criticism and was locked out of his Instagram and Twitter accounts in recent weeks for comments online and in TV interviews espousing antisemitic conspiracy theories that have spurred hate and violence against Jewish people in the past — including that they have outsized power and influence in the media. In addition to freezing his social media accounts, West’s comments have drawn public demands that he lose lucrative endorsements and further threatened his waning celebrity cachet.

On Saturday, demonstrators gave Nazi salutes as they stood behind a large overpass banner that read, “Kanye is right about the Jews,” according to images collected by antidiscrimination organizations and Jewish residents appalled by the group’s message.

“It’s not just words,” said Sam Yebri, a lawyer and former Anti-Defamation League board member who lives in Westwood and took to Twitter to denounce the event. “There is clearly a connection to white supremacy and neo-Nazi movements.”

Responding to the overpass demonstration, Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. George Gascón said on Twitter on Sunday that antisemitism cannot be tolerated and that he stands with the Jewish community.

“We cannot tolerate the #AntiSemitism that was on full display ... on an LA Fwy,” Gascón wrote. "#WhiteSupremacy is a societal cancer that must be excised. This message is dangerous & cannot be normalized.”

Yebri said the demonstration was just one of many antisemitic incidents in the city in recent days and weeks. Residents also have found fliers at their homes and on their cars spewing racist and otherwise bigoted stereotypes and conspiracy theories about Jewish and LGBTQ people, he said.

Yebri said he recently found a flier at his home casting the COVID-19 pandemic and response as part of a Jewish “agenda.” He said fliers found across the city have espoused the well-worn antisemitic idea that Jewish people somehow exert outsized influence over the media.

Friends flagged other fliers found in L.A. neighborhoods that alleged both the Biden administration and the LGBTQ rights movement are controlled by Jewish people, he said.

“This is an issue that we need more attention and more action on,” said Yebri, who is running for the L.A. City Council seat of outgoing 5th District Councilmember Paul Koretz. “People are terrified and feel abandoned by our leaders, who are neither speaking up nor doing anything about this increase in antisemitism.”

The Los Angeles and Beverly Hills police departments said Sunday that they were investigating the recent distribution of antisemitic fliers.

In Beverly Hills, police said they were investigating the overnight distribution of about 25 fliers blaming gun control measures on Jewish people.

LAPD Chief Michel Moore said the department’s major crimes division was “aggressively investigating a series of flier drops” that appeared to be connected to those in Beverly Hills.

Investigators have located video of a vehicle they believe was involved, he said, and “will continue to pursue every avenue to identify and prosecute individuals whenever possible involved in these antisemitic attacks.”

West has been widely criticized for his antisemitic remarks, including one in which he said he was going to “Go death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE.”

He made further antisemitic remarks in an interview with Tucker Carlson on Fox News.

West, who is Black, had faced criticism as well for wearing a “White Lives Matter” shirt to his YZY runway show during Paris Fashion Week. The controversy around him gained additional momentum when it was reported that he was buying the right-wing social media company Parler.

Yebri said neither antisemitism nor the ideas espoused in the fliers found around L.A. are new, but he nonetheless drew a connection between the recent proliferation and West’s rhetoric.

“Kanye’s remarks give added air and momentum to the hate that previously was limited to the dark corners of the internet,” Yebri said. “Now it’s popping up in neighborhoods, at people’s homes and throughout Los Angeles.”

Several of the fliers Yebri and his friends and neighbors have collected, reviewed by The Times, make reference to the group Goyim Defense League, which has been identified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Anti-Defamation League and the organization StopAntisemitism.

Both the Anti-Defamation League and StopAntisemitism attributed the overpass demonstration to the Goyim Defense League, which has roots in California and has repeatedly staged antisemitic demonstrations in L.A. and neighboring cities such as Beverly Hills and West Hollywood.

They accused one of the group’s leaders, Jon Minadeo II of the Northern California city of Petaluma, of leading the demonstration and at one point yelling at a California Highway Patrol officer who had responded to the scene.

Minadeo could not be reached for comment Sunday.

The CHP did not immediately respond to a request for comment on its response to the demonstration, including whether any arrests were made.

StopAntisemitism said the demonstration represented a “merging” of West’s “horrific antisemitic outbursts” and the Goyim Defense League’s track record of distributing antisemitic materials in the region.

“White supremacists capitalizing on Ye’s ongoing antisemitic tantrums is another example of how extremists find a commonality in the hatred of Jews,” said Liora Rez, executive director of StopAntisemitism. “While the atrocious and bigoted behavior of the GDL may be protected by the 1st Amendment, this is clearly a targeted harassment campaign against the Jewish people.”

Rez called on elected officials and law enforcement to “find a way to put an end to these antics before someone gets hurt.”

Oren Segal, vice president of the Anti-Defamation League’s Center on Extremism, said the overpass demonstration was “the latest example of how extremists across the ideological spectrum have embraced” West’s rhetoric.

He said the Goyim Defense League had recently taken to the messaging platform Telegram to discuss capitalizing on West’s comments with yet more fliers — this time blaming Jewish people for the slave trade.

Segal said West’s most recent rhetoric “has helped advance the spread of long-standing hateful and false narratives shared by extremist groups.”

West responded to the “death con” tweet, which has since been deleted, telling interviewer Piers Morgan that he apologized to those people hurt by the comment but that he didn’t regret making it.
