The only way out is through. And there is no rushing the program. Believe me, if there was I'd be all over it. Working patiently through the steps of growth and change is not a natural gift of mine. I tend to want to move quickly, which is what drew me to this image. There's a feeling of real movement in it, of progress and breakthrough. I love that part. The part where you have to practice and wait and do the long, slow inner work isn't my favorite, though I fully recognize the value and submit myself to it. I've had enough years on this earth to be intimately familiar with the growth cycle, and the delicious feeling of coming out on the other side. So, I hold that delicious feeling of peace and ease in my awareness. That's where we're all headed on the other side of this pandemic, no matter how long it takes. Holding a positive feeling in your awareness is one way to practice mindfulness. When we do this, we trigger a cascade of healthful effects that counter stress. Even if our present experience is stressful, we can transport our mind and body to a better time by remembering other experiences of overcoming adversity, achieving a goal, receiving good news, or making it through a difficult period. This isn't meant to be a practice of escape. It's always important to meet ourselves as we are and our emotions as they come, but there are times when we need to redirect from negative spirals and give ourselves a mental and emotional boost. That's what this practice is for. If you find yourself stuck in a quagmire of unhelpful thoughts and emotions, draw in the good. Allow it to fill your awareness. Steep yourself in it. Sometimes on your life jurney, not often, you are meeting a person and you known "Labels do not define her", this is you @angelalohseyoga . I felt it, because all my life I ask my surunding "please, Don't Label Me". And then, I began thinking about the difference of good labeling and bad labeling. Conversely, living up to a label could be sort of exhausting. We've shown that sometimes labels can be fun, sometimes they can be cruel, and sometimes they can even hold you back. I've seen people with disabilities excel against all odds. I've seen those who had addictions turn their lives around and now help countless others. I've seen those who are obese decide they can get healthy. I've seen those who are suicidal become survivors and counsel others to go stronger. I believe there are no losers, just times when we need to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and start over with a fresh perspective. And, I genuinely believe that those labeled "hopeless" just need a spark that will reignite their fire. If you must place a label on someone, tell them they have a tendency to be successful; that they will excel; they are wonderful, beautiful. We're all on this earth to bring a light to another. I personally recognize that it doesn't take much to push us down. It doesn't require much to make us have negative thoughts and to make us think we can't do something, can't achieve, and can't excel. It's hard not to believe the labels bestowed on us and to let a label define us. We are not defined by our labels. Each and every one of us is special in our own way. We each are individuals, we each hold different perspectives, and we each have different values. That's what makes us all unique. Labels from others may induce us to question ourselves and to take our spark away. Be careful how you label somebody, and be careful not to let a label run your life.
