bg3's romance system sure is an adjustment if you're used to bioware games where most of the romance turns (as in you know when you're advancing in the relationship) are generally telegraphed and you have a little less freedom once you've started something (but it also warns you if you're about to get locked in to a romance too so neither way is better it's just different). honestly even compared to divinity original sin 2 i feel way more at sea with where the romances are going to go (like flirting/dating multiple folk wise).
i thought we were all cool being poly/open (b/c everyone was thirsty for my tav at the start and made comments to this effect) but then my tav slept with karlach and both astarion and gale got mad/broke up with them (i wasn't even aware that i'd somehow triggered gale's romance tbh so that was a surprise too) and i was like OH NO, RELOAD, NEXT TIME BIG BEAUTIFUL RED LADY
(breaking up with karlach sucked tho, feels bad. kinda feel like this tav might not end up with anyone b/c i legit can't tell who i'm actually romancing lol. like astarion is at "good" relationship but we haven't advanced past that but i've def started *something* with him but also he's kind of a brat so who tf knows)

6, 12, 30 for the writing asks ^_^
6. What’s the last line you wrote?
Shaking its head in what seems like disbelief before meeting his eyes again, almost like it wants to say something before it makes a noise like a growl, "oh, you're one of those seraphs, aren't you. A star-eater. No wonder you act like you've lost your mind."
(ignore that that's a couple sentences, the Thought is important)
12. Do you outline your fics? If yes, how detailed are your outlines? How far do you stray from them?
Oh yes! I outline my fics thoroughly. Though, I do allowed myself to deviate as much from the outline as I feel like when things go off the rails.
Some snippets of planning from a couple fics & concepts:
My outlines are very... One for one. With some exceptions. I tend to basically write a very brief version of the fic and try to get the feelings and words right before I actually write it. This is... Also why it can and will take me a month to write a oneshot. I try to get things Right.
30. How much do you edit your fics? Do you edit as you write or wait until you finish the first draft?
So! I edit them a bit? I edit while I work, but often I don't really touch anything I've already written unless it's something longer that might be taking a few months to get through. I think the fic I've edited the most is the prologue of Artificial Stars, which was originally a quickly written 2k oneshot into about 5k of actually decent fic.
Usually I don't edit to make something shorter/more concise, since I tend to only come up with more ways to bridge concepts when I go back to it. Also to be fair... There's usually no difference between first draft and final product. I cannot be asked to edit my fics after I write them, I just release them to the birds and pray for the best. (Unless I actually decide to show it to my beta reader in full instead of just sharing snippets as I... usually do.)
Conclusion: Rarely, those thangs are being given to the world as-is unless something is horrifically wrong with them

So @kitsonpaws visited me this weekend to be my +1 at a work function, and we rolled up a widdle guy to take through the BG3 prologue for shiggles (and so she could take pictures and send to her husband and go "Look! It's you!").
Anyway, when I was going through the last save file to take some quick screenshots for posterity, something... odd happened. Ol' Purple Beard is grasping the controls, holding on for dear life. The screen cuts to black like normal.
It remains on the black screen for sixteen long, agonizing seconds.
The finally, as I start to wonder if the game froze, we fade up on the beach.
WAIT THE BEACH? WHERE WAS THE OTHER CUTSCENE?
A very salient question. But more importantly, after another two seconds the screen populates:
Three figures stand. Purple Beard is in the foreground closest to the camera already standing up. Shadowheart is in the far background also standing up. A third figure looms in between them.
Just a small question. A teeny one.
WHO IS THIS THIRD FIGURE? No, really. WHO IS HE? I can move the camera around, we are not in a cutscene. (But we have no menu/controls either). So I start zoooooming the camera to see and--
We did not roll up a multiplayer/co-op game. This was a solo session! Is this one of the dead fishermen who's supposed to be lying around??? If so, why is he standing? Why is everyone standing? Where did the cutscene go? Anyway I was spooked by this bloody man and had to exit the game anyway. The world will never know.

gonna be real with y’all... maybe the writers failed to make el a convincing villain because she was never meant to be one in the first place? maybe they made her sympathetic...because you’re supposed to sympathize with her? hot take i know
