ALSO I'm literally trembling last chapter I was manifesting a name reveal for this chapter and I theorised that it would be revealed through AFO screaming Second's name
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And uh
Tumblr media
^^^ Literally AFO screaming Second's name excuse me while I scream into the void
I'm still trembling goodbye

Top Ten Hawks Moments of 2023
For Keigo's Birthday and for the end of this year, I have decided to make my top ten Hawks moments for all the chapters published this year.
10. "Hawks" gets torn into shreds by AFO
we had a lot of near-deaths for Hawks this year, but I think this was the most memorable as it happened, giving a very needed burst of humor to the AFO vs Hawks and the Heroes fight. Tokoyami's reaction was particularity heartbreaking.
Tumblr media
9. Whatever Level of Gay was Achieved Here
Tumblr media
This entire chapter was framed in a way that constantly put Hawks and AFO contrasting and melding and there are panels where their thoughts connect. I thought it was a very good way for Hori to make their dynamic fighting each other stand out. Also, the fight was ridiculously homoerotic.
8. Hawks Reminds Us It's About Connections, Stupid.
Tumblr media
A theme for the post-Jaku part of this manga has always been heroes needing to bridge that gap and see if they can connect with the villains. It's interesting that Hawks has been the canon mouthpiece among the adults for that view when he so utterly failed his own narrative-assigned connection. I know there was so much pushback in this moment because Keigo again thought of Endeavor, but it stood out to me in repeating this allegory of OFA linking everyone as the solution to the conflict in the first place.
7. Realizing They All Have the Power to Make Their Own Narrative
Tumblr media
Against a villain like One For All who wants to believe he's in his own light-novel, Keigo's own issues distinguishing reality and fantasies managed to settle down. He's always resigned himself to being a caged bird and a martyr, so being pitted against a villain so into life being a foregone conclusion helped Keigo remember they all have more agency than they give them credit for.
6. I think all of Keigo's Rizz was in Fierce Wings
Tumblr media
Seriously, this is his normal fake hero persona on STEROIDS? It's fascinating how naturally this stuff comes to him. Like damn, he even has his tongue out, mocking All For One as he gets hoisted by his own petard, and has an arm around a vestige lady who looks suspiciously like All For One's mom, which I am accepting as canon until told otherwise. Say what you want about Hawks, for all his failures and paradoxes, the dude has serious BDE. I'd rate this higher but he had a lot of good moments.
5. Nothing beside remains, round the decay
Tumblr media
Probably one of the most striking panels this year, seeing a defeated, quirkless Keigo struggle to get up and meet the horde of encroaching Toga-Twice clones, holding the last remaining feather in a landscape of complete destruction made me think heavily of the Ozymandias poem. Keigo, who has always represented the hero system with his whole diamond-insignia carrying chest, seeing all the consequences of his actions and the futility of his actions in stopping the very future he'd allowed himself to commit murder to prevent. I wonder if it struck him how little it all meant as he faced his "presumed" doom.
4. Farewell, Fierce Wings!
Tumblr media
we bid goodbye to the quirk that continued to fight even as it was stolen into the eldritchian amalgamation that is All For One! The look in the vestige's face is so resigned and bitter-sweet as he decays away. Keigo isn't his quirk, but it's remarkable how willing to face death both of them are.
3. What he really wants
Tumblr media
The interesting thing is the narration implies that either Keigo was telling Naomasa that the aging made AFO stronger as the battle happened, or still had enough control over his emotional state after being left in the dirt to tell him what he observed. The latter is, well, not that surprising when it comes to Keigo, who won't let being quirkless or maimed or delimbed get in the way of being at his job, but that's not what Hori shows us.
No, Hori doesn't show us Keigo standing up or sitting up, no he shows us a Keigo clinging to Tokoyami, a complete break in the many masks he wears to show actual devastation and need for comfort.
There's no Keigo pretending he's okay. There's just one panel showing us a young man embracing his unconscious student after probably one of the most horrific experiences in his life. Keigo, who has been mentioned to be a person who puts so much distance himself and other people, is the one the one clinging to Fumikage.
2. He really was, wasn't he?
Tumblr media
As the Twice clones disappear, we see a melting Toga-Twice on the brink of killing Keigo, who makes no move to stop her as she slices him open. No, he seems almost penitent as he accepts death, only pausing to tell her he knows why she's killing him. Make no mistake, the moment he saw Twice back, he knew what this was all about; killing Jin. In this moment, he doesn't hold himself back with saying killing Jin was necessary - the future Jin's murder was meant to prevent came about anyway, no, this is just Keigo being honest that he really liked Jin, anyway. This panel might show the first real regret we've gotten from him, which is likely why he was so open about not fighting back. Because Keigo knows that he does "deserve" this.
Tumblr media
1. Haven’t you already done your best, Hawks?
Tumblr media
Chapter 185, this panel introduces us to Hawks.
Tumblr media
Two hundred chapters later and we finally see Hawks, for all intents and purposes, resoundingly defeated. His quirk is gone. The army he had as back up, defeated. His student lying defenseless beside him. His hero-partner having left to fight his own battles.
Tumblr media
And yet, despite it all, despite losing his quirk, despite every sign of failure around him, especially as he now has to reckon with his own moral event horizon, Keigo's capable of saying one thing:

Man, the whole thing with Yoichi and Kudou parting ways is a bit more heartbreaking if you consider the fact that just moments before, Yoichi had to deal with the death of his brother.
Despite everything that he has done, despite everything that has happened, Yoichi still loved his brother. Even though his brother was cruel, he still acknowledges that AFO took care of him when there was no one else. All they had was each other.
His anger in ch 193 wasn't done out of hate, but concern for his brother. Like how a loved one would get angry when they recognize you doing something that isn't good for your well-being.
Nana and Yoichi are in the same position, both having their close relatives on the villain side, but while Tenko has the hope of being saved, AFO is far gone. And while Yoichi has long accepted this, that doesn't mean he won't be affected by the loss of his brother.
Tumblr media
We saw Yoichi's expression when AFO gets defeated. People talk about it being a "bombastic side eye", but to me, it's more so sorrowful.
Not long afterwards, we have Yoichi talk like this:
Tumblr media
"Don't cling to sentimentality"
"Bringing down Tomura Shigaraki is our reason for still existing"
Yoichi was silently trying to process his brother's death here. Alone. Not even Kudou knows.
And not long after the death of your only family, you're forced to say goodbye to the one person who would still be there for you after all that? The very first person who valued you as a fellow human being?
Tumblr media
Damn, I'd break down and cry too.
On a side note, some people are unhappy that the OFA Users are often calling the shots here. But am I the only one who noticed that Yoichi's the only one who doesn't do this at all?
Yoichi's the one who interacted with Midoriya the least. He's the only OFA User who actually doesn't tell Midoriya what to do. The only times he came out to interact with him was whenever he feels like Midoriya's life could be in danger, or that time when he tried to reassure him in Ch 193.
Even when trying to cope with his brother's death, starting to give up on the whole "saving" thing, he never really came out to talk to Midoriya to try to change his mind. He's only in the OFA space the entire time with the other users.
Yoichi doesn't say anything cause he just trusts Midoriya to make the calls. (Hence his "this fight has long been passed to the successors") But he also trusts the other users, so he lets them do their thing.
He's also the one who humanises Tomura, calling him a "successor" like Midoriya, making him an equal. En later calls him out on this, saying the opposite.
Yoichi's the best OFA vestige and he deserves the entire world. Gives this man a darn break. T_T

MHA 413 leak reactions
ALL MIIIIIIIIGHT!!! HE CAN SEE THE AFO-OFA RESONANCE!! He and Tomura are both seeing Star!!! Also, I’m glad he got one small vestige interaction with Star.
(But at the same time I’m hoping this is it for Star in the endgame, just as we had Nagant deliver a few critical shots from the hospital roof and that was it.)
Tomura has reinforced his heart/spirit, wrapping Tenko in walls of hands. He thinks that’s made him stronger, but it’s really the same hands AFO used to control him. Luckily, there’s a crack in those walls…
Kudou’s plan is to force OFA on to Shigaraki, since OFA can be forcibly offloaded, like a box of chocolates. Or, if not all of OFA, Kudou will at least force himself into Shigaraki in order for Izuku to save Shigaraki. (Yes, I know how that sounds….)
Tumblr media
Creepy overtones aside, I do like the setup. Our heroes have to break the walls associated with AFO to open the crack enough to save Tenko. But forcing a quirk into Shigaraki to change him and make him more “acceptable” also sounds like something AFO would do. Are we the baddies?
En says no, don’t. He’s said 2 sentences the whole manga but the last two chapters he’s been panic-rambling….but then En changes his mind. He says if they’re gonna give someone away, make it him. He’s willing to make the sacrifice. Especially since Smokescreen doesn’t work against the Search quirk OR the AFO-OFA resonance.
Kudou says no, it has to be him because his quirk factor is exhausted. If he’s transferred, his exhaustion will transfer and any attempt by Tomura to use Gearshift will cause massive recoil (worse than the breathlessness Izuku is experiencing).
Bruce (still can’t get over that name) agrees with En. Banjo has nothing to say for once — I guess the loss of Fourth, his predecessor, did something to him. Nana steps in to say Izuku sees OFA as a treasure from his favorite hero, and excuse me I have something in my eye.
AND IT’S DECIDED: KUDOU WAS VOTED OFF THE ISLAND!!! Izuku agrees to send him to Tomura, and Kudou says his goodbyes by telling Banjo and Yoichi to protect Izuku Midoriya (not Ninth). Of course, Yoichi can’t let go of Kudou without a little flirting. My hero, sigh.
Despite the heroic swooning inside OFA, on the outside Izuku uses Blackwhip to tear off Shigaraki’s arm. Shigaraki tells Izuku he doesn’t look like a hero. Which, I mean… generally one doesn’t try to save a person by dismembering them. Or forcing a quirk into them, which was one of AFO’s moves.
Break next week and good for Horikoshi. I’m sure he’s not actually resting and is instead working on the anime and the new movie, so if he needs time to finish the manga the way he wants then I support that 100%. TAKE THEM BREAKS!

I don't know if you're still doing it, but an AU where Gran Torino raises Kotaro.
1- as Shih put it, Sorahiko's an all-or-nothing guy. Nana tells him that Kotaro isn't safe anywhere near her, that she can't handle losing her son to AfO. Sorahiko nods, and asks if he should hide the boy, or go with him. Nana asks him to stay with Kotaro, and cries a lot. Sorahiko holds her, and then goes inside to tell Kotaro that he's going with him, and needs to pack up, and tell his mother goodbye.
2- Kotaro Yamada is raised in a strange way. Sorahiko can't cook any better than his mother could, but he doesn't try anymore. He knows Sorahiko used to be a hero, like his mother, but when he asks all the man tells him is he got his license because he just wanted to use his quirk, and now he keeps it in case whoever is after his mother comes for the boy. And oh, is Kotaro conflicted about his mother- he certainly can't say a bad word about her in Sorahiko's earshot. He knows she loves him, and is likely going to die trying to protect him from something. But he doesn't like it. *Yamada is just a common name, since Sorahiko is sure that AfO would know to look out for any Shimuras or Torinos.
3- When Kotaro is twelve years old, Sorahiko gets a call from a phone number he hasn't in years. He answers it, and there's a young voice on the other side, rough from tears, saying that Shimura-sensei told him to call the number after she died. Sorahiko knows this means Nana needs something else from him- the last thing she needs from him. But he has to help the first way too. So, he sneaks to UA during the day, and trains Toshinori while Kotaro is at school- Toshinori is excused for personal training, for "meetings with the school counselor after losing his teacher", and makes up classwork in the evenings after Sorahiko leaves. Toshinori stays in an altered apartment in one of the fake cities on UA grounds, alone when he isn't training. When Toshinori once tells Sorahiko that Nana was like his mother, Sorahiko asks quietly if Nana ever told him about her son. Toshinori just says she lost him, a bit of sadness in her heart no matter how she smiled or spoke of romantic dreams. Sorahiko tells him (Toshinori) that it's his (Sorahiko's) fault Nana never saw her son again, and that he's going to train Toshinori to make sure he can kill AfO, not the other way around. Which means he needs to leave the country. The last training session the day before graduation is the last time Sorahiko speaks to Toshinori for decades. And it will not be Toshinori reaching out.
4- Kotaro goes to high school, then university. He becomes an architect. He falls in love. He's surprised when Sorahiko is happy to hear this- weren't they both hurt so much by Nana? Isn't that why Sorahiko closed himself off from anyone but Kotaro? But he's encouraged. He marries Nao, builds a house for her and her parents and him and his. Eventually, they have a little girl, Hana. She looks so much like Nana. Sorahiko and Kotaro never say this fact outloud.
5- Eventually, AfO finds Kotaro. Hana is eight, too old for him to spark a quirk awakening in her without suspicion. But with enough eavesdropping quirks he hears that Kotaro and Nao are considering another child, so he starts setting up coincidences to nudge them along the line. When Tenko is born, four years later than in canon btw, AfO moves. Hana sits down at the dinner table, and when she touches her mother's arm, the woman turns to dust. Everyone starts screaming- except Sorahiko, who moves. He grabs Hana and breaks the window to the backyard, leaves Hana floating above the grass in terror, her jacket falling to dust as she hugs herself. Then he goes back, and grabs baby Tenko. He looks up to see Kotaro, covered in Nao's blood, looking to the front door, that also fell apart. A tall man stands behind it, reaching out a hand to the wall. Kotaro looks back at Sorahiko and tells him to go with the kids, now. Sorahiko breaks into Might Tower about half an hour later, with a child and a baby, and tells All Might these are Nana's grandkids, and he needs All Might to arrange tickets to I-island for the three of them, as quickly as he can while keeping it secret. He leaves a report in a file behind them. Toshinori only tells David to protect them, and Dave does. The baby's a year younger than Melissa, he has to help. Over a decade later, he finds that Hana's headaches seem to be from stress for her two quirks, the sort of opposite problem with Toshinori's decreasing power. But maybe he can build something to help- Melissa the engineer and Tenko the programmer are eager to help too, anyway they can. Sorahiko, feeling as useless as he always has, thanks them.

Well Happy days; AFO is gone and his conclusion's left me feeling pretty vindicated about all the slander I've been saying about him.
Not only did we confirm he never had a chance to control Shigaraki again because it's seemingly confirmed that Tomura really did kill the original quirk's vestige (which the plan to retake control looked to hinge on), but I think we can pretty definitively say for certain that AFO's not the final villain now that he's gone without a trace of him left. Tomura doesn't even care about him too much anymore, I mean thanks for getting him here but he's got his own things going on that're more important that AFO's creepy plot lines.
Tumblr media
Though I gotta say, even I'd started to doubt he'd legit die before he even got to the Shigaraki v Deku fight. Like wow, tripped right at the end there didn't he? What an embarrassing failure to end his life on...which I guess makes it a pretty perfect note to conclude the life and times of All For One.
Tumblr media
Goodbye you little shit.

Imagine you finally develop your main villain and give him deepness just to kill him off at the hands of a 15-year-old.
Ch 408 finally gave us the backstory of AfO and Yoichi (too late in the plot IMO) just to have said villain vanish in the next chapter.
Here we finally got confirmation of AfO's motivations: "Since AFO didn't make a single good memory in his entire life, he wants to ruin everyone's future. He wanted everyone to look at him, forever. That's when we see that AFO is now a crawling baby and that Bakugou is coughing blood, almost passing out"
I hope that we get to see AfO again as a vestige inside Tomura, or PLEASE, as a vestige inside OfA. I just felt that AfO got hyped so much as this dark Demon Lord, then revealed that all he wanted was to be popular, all that gave some dimension to his character IMO, and to just have him vanish in thin air, and not even against the protagonist! Where is our Yoichi meets AfO after two centuries!
And I am not talking about the Vestige meeting with Tomura and the other holders. I wanted to see Kid AfO meeting adult Yoichi, and then exchanging some words. That Man hunted down his last family member for two centuries, it would have been great to get a final meeting before AfO vanished (if that was necessary to happen).
GIVE THEM A Proper Goodbye!!!! It would have made up for the abrupt departure during the sewer incident.

Can Enji be a Yandere romantic for à woman more Young than him ? Like Yandere an Sugar Daddy ?
Yandere Sugar Daddy Enji
Okay there's only like a handful of people who'd be yandere sugar daddies and Enji is on top of the list. Others may include AFO, Aizawa, Toji, etc.
Anyways, let's get back to flame hero:
I think he'd start this as a one night stand, just some time to release all that stress. But one night turns to two, to three, to weeks and months. He's hooked onto you, particularly the way you always ask how's he doing, if he's tired from the day then you'll offer to take care of his needs while he loes down, and how you always greet him goodbye, eyes twinkling up at him as if he's really the no.1 hero in your eyes.
Soon, he proposes that you become his sugar baby for a huge cheque. You agree because (1) that's a lot of money (2) Enji has been a gentleman, a little weird but you guess that comes with age, but he's not a freak and respects your boundaries (3) that's a lot of money.
Being Enji's sugar baby has a lot of benefits because it's not always about sex, sometimes he'll just call you over because he's lonely. You suppose when you're at the top of your field, it's hard to keep friends, so you feel pity and come over most of time when he calls you past midnight.
He likes it when you come over and kiss him, before going to couch or his bed where you two just cuddle and talk- you talk mostly, and he just basks in your warmth. The next morning, he drops you off at your place and asks how much for last night. His heart skips a beat when you smile and shake your head, saying "no charge. I enjoy our time together. You're a really good listener."
Another thing Enji loves about you is your body. Its so small, so tiny and so weak. He could break you in half with his bare hands, and yet you trust him enough not to. Enji could be pounding deep into you and growls into your ear "you're so- so fucking tiny- fuck-" and his lips curl up a little when you pout and manage to gasp out "-am n-not. Y-you're too big! Ah-!"
Enji never thought he'd like someone your age, someone younger than him. But you get him, you understand him in a way no one else has. Not Rei, not Hawks, no one. It's like you're the missing to key to his cold, dead heart. You're his perfect fit.
He's addicted to your kisses, they're so soft, so passionate and yet so mature? Your lips are soft and plump, but it's the way you lean into the kiss- lean into him, as if you're clinging onto a hero for dear life, and how you smile when the kiss ends, eyes still closed and you let out a dreamy sigh.
It sends tingle down his spine. Does he really have that effect on you?
Enji has trouble accepting the fact that you're getting paid a very handsome sum of money to act like this, like a lover. He believes he'd know it if you were faking it, after all, he's the no.1 hero. Surely, you can't be faking all those smiles and dreamy eyes and moans.
So eventually, he pops up the question- be in a relationship with him. He doesn't expect you to be this shocked, you were choking on your food when he asked you to be exclusive with him. "Are you okay?" Enji asks as he comes to your side, giving you his wine and patting your back. You manage to calm down and nod. "Yeah, you just took me by surprise. Um, I'm flattered Enji but I'll have to say no." You wiped your mouth. "Its just- I already have a boyfriend. And even if I didn't, I don't think we'd be good together. I mean even if we ignore the age gap, I don't think I can adjust to your lifestyle, always being in the limelight and stuff. I'll understand if you don't want to continue our contract-"
"No, its fine. Things stay the way they were."
Things did not stay the way they were.
Not because of you though. You continued to act normal and played the role of sugar baby the way you did before, but Enji... he had become different. Very different. When Enji and you had started out this mutually beneficial thing, you both had some rules set. For Enji, it was the usual- dont take his pictures/talk/post about him on social media. For you it was- he can call you over anytime, but he can't come over to your place without calling. Both of you agreed to not recognise each other when you bump into one another in public.
So what was Enji doing coming to your apartment where your nosy neighbours were for sure looking at him entering your apartment? You let that slip since your boyfriend (who while knew about your job, didn't want any of your clients barging into your place) wasn't home that day.
However you just couldn't let it pass when Enji showed up at your college in his fancy car. Granted he didn't come out of his car (although, it was you who rushed to message him to not get out of the car. Enji was more than happy to come out and lean against his car wearing his shades and holding a bouquet of flowers.), still a lot of students saw you getting in his luxury car. You got mad and told him that he was violating the agreement, that he was disrespecting you. Enji's face fell, and he explained that he just had a bad day at work because he'd seen too many people die and just wanted to see you. Of course, you felt awful now but you still told him that he could've called you and you would've come to his place.
One of the things that made you agree to becoming his sugar baby was that Enji was non-judgemental, or if he did judge, he kept his opinions to himself.
So it was really annoying when he started lecturing you about how you shouldn't stay too late out at parties with your friends. Or the time he came over to your place, unannounced, and found you high with pot, telling you "Say no to drugs, Y/n. Stay in school." Or how he starts stocking your fridge with healthier meals, throwing out all frozen and cup noodles, cleaning up around your house, muttering about how you're young and should be more organised than this.
Perhaps the one that finally ticked you off was when Enji saw a photoframe of you and your boyfriend and he began badmouthing him. "He looks so weak, how could he ever protect you? Look at his clothes, he can't even dress himself well. He is making you look bad standing next to you. And why did he take you out to a carnival? Can't he afford to take you to a better place for date-"
"Enji. I think it's time to stop this."
"I agree. Your boyfriend never had much to start with-"
"No, I mean we should stop seeing each other. Stop our contract. You can keep this month's cheque."
Enji looked perplexed. "What? I don't understand. Why?"
You shrugged, thinking of a way to end things smoothly. "I just- I just don't want to do this anymore. Its disrupting my life- its me, not you Enji. I just can't keep up with this anymore."
Ah. The classic "its me, not you" move.
Enji tried to argue, but you just shut him down gently.
However, Enji wasn't one to give up so easily. He was a gentleman, and he would fight for the love of his life. You're too young, too naive to see what's good for you.
Fortunately, Enji has endless patience when it comes to you and he'll make you see he's the best for you. He'll take care of you, you'll never have to work or study again. Just be with him, be his little housewife, and Enji will make sure that all your needs are met- both in and out of bed.
From the cameras he'd secretly installed in your home, Enji watches you and your boyfriend make love.
Enji scoffs. That useless piece of skin doesn't know your body like he does, and poor you- you're faking all your reactions. You're too sweet like that.
Don't worry, darling. I'll get rid of him for us.

Shigaraki Tomura after realizing AFO gave him 'Decay': goodbye, league of villains. Turns out i was never supposed to have such a dangerous and powerful quirk. I was supposed to have a normal life! I wasn't supposed to be have been always rejected by the system Heroes built! It's fine if other people are, but not me, so I can feel relieved and saved and go off with my new Hero bestie. I will now forget all the hardships we been through together and all the hopes and dreams you guys put in me when i was the leader of us outcasts. I am in the end a Normal Person, not garbage freaks like you guys.

Saw the tags on the Toshinori post and do you have more to share?? Any insights? If so I’d welcome hearing them 😭 He really is so self-sacrificial and it hurts but it’s truly at the core of who he is
This has been sitting in my inbox for almost a week because I needed to make a futile effort at organizing my thoughts into something coherent--but this is as organized as they're going to get for now! Thank you so so much for the ask though bc I do love to yell about MHA <3
(Obligatory reminder that I'm watching this show in such a confusing order so if what I'm about to rant about has been addressed before and I'm harping on it unnecessarily I Am Sorry.)
(For anyone curious, this is the post btw)
SO. It feels relevant to mention that my sister and I were talking about All Might in the first place because we were talking about MHA Moments That Haunt Us. For me, it's the 'I am not here' sign hanging around the neck of the All Might statue in Kamino Ward after the Paranormal Liberation War. It literally lives in my brain rent-free 24/7 365 days a year, especially with the AM vs AFO fight being relatively fresh in my mind. The reversal of All Might's catchphrase and all it represents hurts, but to display it at the site of his 'last stand' in Kamino? That's brutal.
All Might vs All For One and how that rematch plays out is so so important to the story for so many reasons, but one of them is that the fight itself is a sacrifice. Toshinori gives everything he has, short of his life, to defeat All For One. He gives up his physical strength, his public image as the unbeatable Symbol of Peace, and, effectively his Quirk ("Goodbye, All For One. Goodbye, One For All" haunts my every waking moment, still!)
This battle is also the culmination of years of All Might's life and heroic philosophy (because Toshinori has been both practicing AND preaching self-sacrifice in the name of the greater good since we met him. It's what he thinks a hero does). Kamino is the sacrifice to end all sacrifices, if you will. Yes, he does get to walk away from the fight with AFO, but he walks away irrevocably different, almost unrecognizable. He's forced to totally change his focus and his mindset and his life. Everything he has given up is made literally visible in the deterioration of his body.
But most most importantly, All Might's sacrifice at Kamino was... all for nothing. Even if AM defeated him in that moment, All For One is free less than a year later. The world is in shambles. People are afraid, and their faith in heroes is crumbling. Heroes are afraid, and this time, they have no idealized symbol to rally behind. When Dostoevsky wrote "Your worst sin is that you have destroyed and betrayed yourself for nothing," he was talking about All Might btw.
Toshinori gave this fight (and his career, and being All Might) everything he had, and it still wasn't enough. He sacrificed so much of himself, and so much of how he perceived himself and his purpose, and he didn't even save the world. He just bought them time--and not much of it. I think that's why he's so desperate to keep fighting, no matter the cost, no matter what condition he's in--even 'quite literally half-dead.' He can't let Kamino be the Symbol of Peace's final stand, because Kamino was ultimately for nothing. Instead of saving the world, it has been reframed through the sign on the statue as All Might abandoning the world. And ever since then, he's been scrambling to prove that he is still here.
(There's also probably something here about Sir Nighteye telling him that he was going to die. Since Nighteye used his Quirk on him, Toshinori has been anticipating sacrificing his life for good. Knowing that his entire hero career is effectively a fight to the death has probably maximized his self-sacrificial tendencies.)
