HC that local birds beef with Hawks for control of the airspace and they all gang up on him
They stole his breakfast too
Dumb idea but I always see hawks getting dive bombed by crows

EYES ★ KEIGO TAKAMI
keigo likes to stare at you. you like to stare at keigo <3
Just imagine Keigo staring at you. He loves to get up close and personal every time he does. He’s always leaning in ever so slightly to get a better look at you, but what he doesn’t realize is that he’s presenting an ethereal view.
You can see him so clearly now and oh my, is he stunning. His color palette is gold; in fact, the only contrast on his face are his pupils. There’s even a warm tone to his rosy-pink lips. He’s smiling at you— always. Whether it be a gentle tug of the lips or a full grin, the shimmer in his eyes are always in view.
Speaking of his eyes, they’re so much prettier bare faced. They’re big, bright and pierce right through you all of the time. There’s only a slight angle to them without his liner, but his thick, flared, bushy, wheat colored lashes frame his gilded eyes perfectly. Only when he gets close to you like this is when you can spot the hills of honey and valleys of tawny in his irises. You almost curse that one lock of blonde curling over one of his eyes. He doesn’t mind it as long as he’s looking at you.
Sometimes you forget that he’s real; like you can’t reach out and touch him. And even with your hand lifting as if you’re reaching for a figment of your imagination, he pushes his face closer to you so the tips of your fingers can graze along the scruff of his chin. He’s indeed real. They brush over rough facial hair, teasing up to a strong, bare jawline and even higher to full, soft cheeks. That’s the only time his eyes close. And they close slowly as his cheek forces its way into the palm of your hand. He says nothing but tugs the left corner of his lip up for a brief moment. As his smile falls only a little, his eyes open once more to look you in the face.
You have to pull yourself back for small breather, trying to catch the breath you didn’t know stopped. The full image of him is stunning. Keigo’s hair falls in layers around his face and dusts right along his shoulders. All of that free time after the war gave him the opportunity to let his hair grow out again. Wheat tones of blonde, brown and platinum add to your pretty hero’s allure. His hair only has a bit of unruliness to it today, not worried about it being out of his face for fightings sake.
He’s in a natural state. Wearing a loose button down only done up halfway, allowing you to see straight down his shirt and his sun kissed skin. You can’t miss the discolored scar he earned right over his neck and collarbone from his time fighting villains on your travel down his abdomen. That’s not the only scar he had but it’s the biggest one. He stands before you in loose fitting lounge pants, hands stuffed in his pockets. He’s stared at you so long the only thing he can think of is laying a fat, damp kiss to your lips. You two were only in this position because he wanted to get a bit playful. However, as passionate as he is, his playfulness comes in waves. Now all he feels is warmth.
To cut the intensity, he swims closer to press that kiss to your lips before standing upright. “Alright,” he drags. Sauntering away from you with his hands in his pockets and a coy smile on his lips, he chuckles at your attempt to throw a couch pillow at him until his instincts allow him to grab it. How dare he tease you— without having to do much at all?

改まった形|Polite Forms
In formal settings like in a business meeting or at a public gathering some words are switched with politer forms. You often hear them when somebody is giving a speech, holding a presentation or on TV. But they appear in written form as well, especially in business context. Basically, everywhere where keigo is used, it is also expected to apply politer forms.

hawks with a s/o who has a healing quirk
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: hawks / keigo takami x gn!reader
tags: workplace relationship, angst with a happy ending, support hero reader, painful quirk / your quirk has drawbacks
Tumblr media
you've met hawks while working as a support hero at his agency, being the one patching him up after every battle
the two of you quickly got close, due to seeing each other almost every day at work and having the chance to talk, while you healed him
hawks had a crush on you from the start and he didn't waste much time before asking you out on a date, which led to the two of you starting to date soon after
the two of you always tried to leave work out of your relationship, while also keeping your private life out of work, but there was one instance where that didn't work
another support hero let it slip to hawks how your quirk worked, as well as mentioning its downside: you were able to feel the pain of the person you were healing
hawks wasted no time to rush into the infirmary to ask you if what he heard was true, only to be shocked when you confirmed it so nonchalantly
how did he never notice anything? all those evenings he spent in the infirmary with you, talking, while you patched him up. and he never noticed a thing…
he's angry at himself! and his anger blinds him as he uses his position as your boss to forbid you from using your quirk on him again!
obviously you object and the two of you begin to argue! hawks wants to protect you from yourself, but you argue that as your boyfriend, he shouldn't hold this power over you!
eventually, he gives in and apologizes, begrudgingly allowing you to keep using it
but as soon as he's out of the office, he has a meeting with the other support heroes, urging them to be more careful from now on and prevent unnecessary injuries, to spare you the pain…

Business Japanese Review Part One: Emails!
I'm not sure how many posts I'll make about Business Japanese, but probably more than one so I say the part one is warranted, haha.
Feel free to add anything or any questions in the notes! Like I said, this isn't a fully comprehensive infographic. Also, what do people think of the lined paper style background for the title page/intro? I think they look kinda cute for the introduction, but not for the informative parts...
One thing I will add that I couldn't fit on the slides: I think some textbooks don't have super clear distinctions between 「謙譲語Ⅰ」 「謙譲語Ⅱ」 and 「ていねいご」, so I only specifically mention 謙譲語 broadly here. Parts of 謙譲語Ⅱ and ていねいご are both described as "extra-modest" in some things, for example! Just keep in mind that my post is a simplification, and if you're interested in formal language, maybe start at learning all of the different keigo categories and what they involve!
Vocab list note: The set phrases in the greetings and closings are all comparable to set phrases in English for greetings and closings of emails. I'm putting these set phrases in their entirety in the list, with a comparable English set phrase as the definition. Do not take these as equivalent phrases! They have a similar feeling, but I am not asserting that they have identical meanings. I'm just offering something comparable in case it helps a person make more sense of them!
The full vocab list + a transcript of the post is under the cut!

Top Ten Hawks Moments of 2023
For Keigo's Birthday and for the end of this year, I have decided to make my top ten Hawks moments for all the chapters published this year.
10. "Hawks" gets torn into shreds by AFO
we had a lot of near-deaths for Hawks this year, but I think this was the most memorable as it happened, giving a very needed burst of humor to the AFO vs Hawks and the Heroes fight. Tokoyami's reaction was particularity heartbreaking.
Tumblr media
9. Whatever Level of Gay was Achieved Here
Tumblr media
This entire chapter was framed in a way that constantly put Hawks and AFO contrasting and melding and there are panels where their thoughts connect. I thought it was a very good way for Hori to make their dynamic fighting each other stand out. Also, the fight was ridiculously homoerotic.
8. Hawks Reminds Us It's About Connections, Stupid.
Tumblr media
A theme for the post-Jaku part of this manga has always been heroes needing to bridge that gap and see if they can connect with the villains. It's interesting that Hawks has been the canon mouthpiece among the adults for that view when he so utterly failed his own narrative-assigned connection. I know there was so much pushback in this moment because Keigo again thought of Endeavor, but it stood out to me in repeating this allegory of OFA linking everyone as the solution to the conflict in the first place.
7. Realizing They All Have the Power to Make Their Own Narrative
Tumblr media
Against a villain like One For All who wants to believe he's in his own light-novel, Keigo's own issues distinguishing reality and fantasies managed to settle down. He's always resigned himself to being a caged bird and a martyr, so being pitted against a villain so into life being a foregone conclusion helped Keigo remember they all have more agency than they give them credit for.
6. I think all of Keigo's Rizz was in Fierce Wings
Tumblr media
Seriously, this is his normal fake hero persona on STEROIDS? It's fascinating how naturally this stuff comes to him. Like damn, he even has his tongue out, mocking All For One as he gets hoisted by his own petard, and has an arm around a vestige lady who looks suspiciously like All For One's mom, which I am accepting as canon until told otherwise. Say what you want about Hawks, for all his failures and paradoxes, the dude has serious BDE. I'd rate this higher but he had a lot of good moments.
5. Nothing beside remains, round the decay
Tumblr media
Probably one of the most striking panels this year, seeing a defeated, quirkless Keigo struggle to get up and meet the horde of encroaching Toga-Twice clones, holding the last remaining feather in a landscape of complete destruction made me think heavily of the Ozymandias poem. Keigo, who has always represented the hero system with his whole diamond-insignia carrying chest, seeing all the consequences of his actions and the futility of his actions in stopping the very future he'd allowed himself to commit murder to prevent. I wonder if it struck him how little it all meant as he faced his "presumed" doom.
4. Farewell, Fierce Wings!
Tumblr media
we bid goodbye to the quirk that continued to fight even as it was stolen into the eldritchian amalgamation that is All For One! The look in the vestige's face is so resigned and bitter-sweet as he decays away. Keigo isn't his quirk, but it's remarkable how willing to face death both of them are.
3. What he really wants
Tumblr media
The interesting thing is the narration implies that either Keigo was telling Naomasa that the aging made AFO stronger as the battle happened, or still had enough control over his emotional state after being left in the dirt to tell him what he observed. The latter is, well, not that surprising when it comes to Keigo, who won't let being quirkless or maimed or delimbed get in the way of being at his job, but that's not what Hori shows us.
No, Hori doesn't show us Keigo standing up or sitting up, no he shows us a Keigo clinging to Tokoyami, a complete break in the many masks he wears to show actual devastation and need for comfort.
There's no Keigo pretending he's okay. There's just one panel showing us a young man embracing his unconscious student after probably one of the most horrific experiences in his life. Keigo, who has been mentioned to be a person who puts so much distance himself and other people, is the one the one clinging to Fumikage.
2. He really was, wasn't he?
Tumblr media
As the Twice clones disappear, we see a melting Toga-Twice on the brink of killing Keigo, who makes no move to stop her as she slices him open. No, he seems almost penitent as he accepts death, only pausing to tell her he knows why she's killing him. Make no mistake, the moment he saw Twice back, he knew what this was all about; killing Jin. In this moment, he doesn't hold himself back with saying killing Jin was necessary - the future Jin's murder was meant to prevent came about anyway, no, this is just Keigo being honest that he really liked Jin, anyway. This panel might show the first real regret we've gotten from him, which is likely why he was so open about not fighting back. Because Keigo knows that he does "deserve" this.
Tumblr media
1. Haven’t you already done your best, Hawks?
Tumblr media
Chapter 185, this panel introduces us to Hawks.
Tumblr media
Two hundred chapters later and we finally see Hawks, for all intents and purposes, resoundingly defeated. His quirk is gone. The army he had as back up, defeated. His student lying defenseless beside him. His hero-partner having left to fight his own battles.
Tumblr media
And yet, despite it all, despite losing his quirk, despite every sign of failure around him, especially as he now has to reckon with his own moral event horizon, Keigo's capable of saying one thing:

敬語の5分類|The 5 Types of keigo
In the Japanese language it is possible to show respect towards another person by replacing words, mostly verbs, with politer equivalents. This can be done by using elevating expressions for the actions of your superior or degrading expressions for your own actions.
Tumblr media
Overview: Verb Formation Rules for sonkeigo 尊敬語, kenjōgo I 謙譲語Ⅰ and kenjōgo II 謙譲語Ⅱ (also known as teichōgo 丁重語).
In a guideline released by the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs in the year 2007 keigo has been divided into five types: 尊敬語・謙譲語Ⅰ・謙譲語Ⅱ(丁重語)・丁寧語・美化語. The first three types demonstrate the most complex rules, hence why I summarized them in the chart above for a quick overview. Hereafter, you can find thorough introductions to each type.
尊敬語|Respectful Language
Sonkeigo is the most basic method to pay special respect towards a teacher, a superior or a client. This can be done by switching the verb (refering to the action of your superior) with its passive form.
e.g. 読みます → 読まれます
However, the degree of politeness isn't that high. Hence, it is important to learn the following formation rules as well:
1)特定形 |Special forms
Some verbs have a fixed forms. If a verb has a special form it is to be used.¹
e.g. いる・行く・来る → いらっしゃいます
2)サ変動詞+なさいます
In this context サ変動詞 refers to nominal verbs. Basically, nouns that can be turned into verbs by adding する. It is possible to add お or ご infront of the verb but it can be also omitted if unsure which prefix is the right one.
e.g. 出発する → (ご)出発なさいます
3)お+Ⅴます+になります
This formation rule is for all verbs that do not belong into either of the two categories above. Omitting ます leaves the so-called renyōkei 連用形 or conjunctive form of the verb. Here, the prefix added is always お.
e.g. 待ちます → お待ちになります
It is not uncommon to apply this formation rule to サ変動詞 as well. Depending on the nominal verb お needs to be changed to ご.
e.g. 参加する → ご参加になります
However, there are exceptions. Some nominal verbs are not idiomatic and end up sounding unnatural to native ears.
e.g. 運転する → ご運転になります ✕ 運転する → 運転なさいます 〇
謙譲語 Ⅰ|Humble Language I
Kenjōgo I + II have the opposite effect of sonkeigo. They degrade one's status and are therefore applied only to your own actions or the actions of someone from your inner circle (e.g. a co-worker, or a family member).
In contrast to kenjōgo II, kenjōgo I is used when your action (or the action of someone from your circle) is directed at the person you want to pay respect to. It is also used when you do something for said person.
The formation rules are as listed below:
1)特定形 |Special forms
Some verbs have a fixed forms. If a verb has a special form it is to be used.¹
e.g. 言う → 申し上げます
The translation would be "saying sth. to sb." or "telling sb. sth." implying that your action is directed at the person you want to pay respect to.
2)お・ご+サ変動詞+します
Again, there are some verbs that sound unnatural when this formation is applied.
e.g. ご運転します ✕
In this case, you can formulate the sentence with ~させていただきます or switch to kenjōgo II.
e.g. 運転させていただきます 〇 運転いたします 〇
Note that, depending on the situation ~させていただきます might give of the impression that you are putting yourself down too much. This can result in making your counterpart feel uncomfortable.
3)お+Ⅴます+します
This formation rule is for all verbs that do not belong into either of the two categories above. Omitting ます leaves the so-called renyōkei 連用形 or conjunctive form of the verb. Here, the prefix added is always お.
e.g. 伝える → お伝えします
謙譲語 Ⅱ|Humble Language II
Kenjōgo II is used when your own action is unconnected to the person you want to pay respect to. Therefore, this type of language can often be found in anouncements, news reports or broadcasts elevating its audience. At train stations one often repeated phrase is:
e.g. もうすぐ電車が来る → まもなく電車が参ります
In the example above you can see that not only the verb has been switched with a politer equivalent, but the adverb as well. There are many words that can be switched with politer versions. Unlike verbs, they do not need to be inflected and can be studied like regular vocabulary.
It can also be pointed out that the action does not have to be conducted by the speaker, but can be an object (like in the example above) or a third party as well.
The formation rules are:
1)特定形
Some verbs have a fixed forms. If a verb has a special form it is to be used.¹
e.g. 言う → 申します (as in 私は◯◯と申します)
When introducing yourself you simly "say" or "state" your name. This is not considered an action that is directed at the person you want to pay respect to, hence it falls into the category of kenjōgo II.
2)サ変動詞+いたします
e.g. 応募する → 応募いたします
3)丁寧語
For all verbs that do not fall under the categories above, teineigo is used, or in other words the です・ます form.
e.g. 話す → 話します
In case the ~ている form is used, the degree of politeness can be elevated by replacing it with ~ております which is the special form of いる.
丁寧語|Polite Language
Teineigo is the neutral polite language. You're probably already familiar with this one, since this is the most foolproof way of speaking politely due to its absence of any kind of seesaw principle. It is used everywhere outside of your circle of friends and the safest way to talk to strangers. However, in certain situations it is expected to raise the level of politeness.
e.g. 聞く → 聞きます
美化語|Refined Language
There is a certain number of words, especially nouns, that can be turned into more elegant sounding versions. It can be easily understood by just looking at some examples.
e.g. 金 → お金 酒 → お酒 料理 → ご料理 米 → お米 散歩 → お散歩
Adding the respective prefix お or ご takes away the roughness of a word. This, however, can only be done with a few selected words. Refined words are commonly used in both formal and informal speech.
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
¹ I compiled all special forms 特定形 that you need to know in this post: 敬語の特定形|Keigo: Special Verb Forms.
