Plus, those feelings still feel real to the characters... I at least believe anything Kokichi planned out [which includes Gonta's death] wasn't planned by Tsumugi, and that she was genuinely sad when Gonta was executed... I like to think that Gonta was one of her favourite characters she wrote [thus making him more important to the plot than he seems] and maybe she even planned him to survive...

He’ll be rude, and mean, and messy, and basically feral lol. A good amount of the others would think it’s hilarious (bc despair lol) and be down to hang out and work with Gonta, but others like Kirumi or Ryoma would definitely want nothing to do with him.

There’s not too much to say, since tbh it’s a pretty simple direction to take remnant Gonta, but an effective one. It certainly brings him despair, and as more of a brute he’d definitely be good at spreading despair.

I’m sure it must have been Junko to have nudged him in that direction, she’d have been laughing her head off to see such a nice person devolve into such a sloppy beast. But I don’t fully know what any of the specifics would be at this point.

I think he’d probably hang out with Kokichi a lot lol, thanks to the despair he’d totally be down with whatever schemes Kokichi can come up with. Probably a lot of the Kaito prank war involves Gonta lol. Plus those two has such a strange (and toxic) psudo friendship that I think would bleed into their relationship as remnants.

As far as design goes, he’s still in the tattered remains of his old suit, but it’s barely hanging on by a thread. His personal hygiene is of course non existent, so I yellowed his teeth and nails a little, and his hair is very wild and unkempt. He’s still got all his bug friends though! They’re thriving in his filthier atmosphere.

Sorry this one’s so much shorter than the others! I had such a clear idea but when I sat down to write this just nothing was coming out sadly.

Below is a rant about me trying to work out the usernames of characters in vgcp. It's not necessarily spoilers, because I have revealed in the fic who the username peeps are, BUT! I feel like enough people missed it that it'd still be a bit of a surprise when I eventually can reinforce the reveal in the fic itself. So...spoiler warning??

Me, excited about writing the next VGCP chapter: why have I never committed to a full ensemble scene of all the post-game guys? Let's dive into that. Me, an hour later, staring at all the ??? usernames: Rantaro would...he'd name himself... wait, um... well obviously the username would be... uh...well the others would nickname him... hmm...uh???

Me, several hours after that: okay! Based on how much he actually remembers from pre-game, versus his memories/feelings on the first game versus the second game, and how most of his personal history is recorded twice as much as everyone elses but because of the nature of the wipes he has the least amount of personal memories out of all of them, plus the version of himself being the most famous one being the one he least remembers (52nd game winner), Rantaro's post game username would SEEM as dismissive about everything as he is--his mix of at one point being THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON and then immediately following that up with CAST FODDER making him a bit apathetic in general to all highs and lows in life-- but is actually a nuanced and pessimistic sentiment about the colorful pieces his life has devolved into that are difficult to hold and also that he thinks it all mushed together is messy and tastes gross, and thus he is SKITTLES

Irouma irouma, bubblegum and grapes, and 'secret' petnames that no one will believe if they heard. Long nights at miu's lab, arm around waist, whiffs of perfume, a finger running through a lock of hair. Miu wearing kokichis scarf as a bandana while she works, mius lewd graphic shirts becoming kokichis goto sleepwear when he comes over. JEWELLERY SHARING. Them liking loving liking each other. Pink and purple go so nice together. An inventor realsing that their 'annoying' assisstant is much too close.... not finding their expected desire to tell them to move. The inventor becoming so muddled in decipehiring while that isnt that their little assistant giggles while they poke them, pointing out how tense they are.

Nightly cuddles rude banter that turns to laughter than turns to casual sleepy talk about their days, people , potential new invetions and whatever ad whatever comes to mind as they inch closer to each other. They've stopped questioning waking up in each others arms, ones hand frozen in place behind the others head, after falling asleep in the middle stroking their hair.

Kiibo wondering why Miu suddenly smells lie panta (ur sensors must be busted, like the gorgeous girl genius will drink that shit, it doesnt even taste that good! Kiibo: *so she knows how it tastes, huh. To my knowledge that drink is always scavenged from the vending machines and hoarded under a super vicious monopoly by- by...*)

Gonta wondering why ouma kun smells like bubblegum during their usual meetings. *he notices kokichi flare up for a single second before he dramatically changes the subject. Gonta is too nice to point it out, hes just gladd him and miu are nice , ish, to eachother, they like the same perfume after all!*

The killing game being over and them not having to hide their relationship for fear of actual death sjsbsb. Its emssy and there so so much to talk through, so mamy problems to solve. But for now their partner is in their arms, their hair is messy, they are soft and asleep. And they have all the time in the world

!!!SPOILER TO DANGANRONPA V3′S 4TH CLASS TRIAL!!!

I just finished rewatching the 4th class trial in Danganronpa V3 and it made me realize a few things. These might seem like surface-level observations but I want to comment about Kaito’s actions. I have a very soft spot for loudly optimistic characters and Kaito fits that kind of character exactly. Which is why it hurts to see him fight a losing battle to defend Gonta. Kaito’s unwavering persistence is both his biggest strength and biggest weakness. 

I can’t help but try to understand him in this moment; you want to believe the people in the room with you that you’ve grown to care for aren’t capable of committing something so heinous like murder because it’s unbelievable they’d be lying or putting up a mask that you end up shunning the facts for your own moral. It really must feel damaging and it must be even more damaging to him as the trial progressed.

To the player, this just looks like Kaito being naive and unreasonably stubborn because we’re going through the game through Shuichi’s perspective and Shuichi is the one that brings all the facts and evidence to the table even when it hurts. Kaito’s optimism is stabbing him in the back yet he still keeps pushing forward with this belief that nobody (minus Kokichi) in the room could do this. Firm optimism is deeply rooted in Kaito’s character so it’s impossible for him to abandon it. I really envy people like this that are able to keep a positive yet firm headspace because this ends up mostly positively impacting the people around them to also keep moving forward; it’s what exactly why Shuichi has made it this far into the game at all. Which is why it must feel like a betrayal to Kaito that Shuichi is strongly disagreeing with him when he helped Shuichi even build that assertiveness in the first place. I can’t help but really understand why Kaito is doing what he’s doing and really love him for it. That’s the TedTalk for the night, sorry if it’s messy.

ou - No. moving on sai - even after admitting, processing, and getting closure from his - less than ideal parents - sai would be too afraid to hurt his children. his work with runaways etc would make him sensitive to 'warning signs' and he'd either be very hands off or very engaged, not a lot of inbetween. he'd need a partner who could balance this out... and ou would not. gonta - Honestly. he probably has a lot of ingrained 'societal norms' from his family, that would result in a LOT of conflict with children - he would have Visions, of his kids, of 'who they are meant to be'. he is kind of unawares of body language, too, and would be... a bumbling sort, until toddler age. once gonta overcomes the, Perfectionist aspect of himself, he would be a very forgiving, understanding, if unorthodox dad. but that's gonna take a long time y'all ama - considering how important family is to him, 1. i can see ama agreeing to be, Wed, or having a 'serious relationship' to the (bio) mother of the children - but also 2. realizing he is not cut out for this. it's hard for me to see ama, wanting, to be a father? i think he values his sisters more than - you know, romantic relationships, and having a family of his own. thus he would be a very 'distant' but 'chill' dad, no conflict, arguments, and he would have - kinda the Smoothest divorce, you could have, n come out with a very healthy relationship w mom and kid. he's probably the 'summer vacation' dad. but he's kinda more of a best friend than a parent shin - Holy shit a lot of weird shit has to happen for this to be a scenario. therefore, shin would actually be a good dad. i think he would be JUST AS SURPRISED re: pregnancy - and he'd have to mull over it, for a bit, like.. do i wanna be involved in this kid's life.. but ultimately, 'humanity is beautiful,' he prolly comes into it with a bit of a ... fucked, perspective, curiosity. but genuine unconditional love, affection, and 'need' of his own child would smash down a lot of shin's - issues, in this aspect. he would grow, very much, in a very short amount of time, and he would devote his life to the kid. and due to his vast worldly (and otherworldy) experiences, he'd be open-minded and sensitive to whatever interests n issues the kid would have. Although he probably overencourages 'weird' or 'morbid' thoughts, of the kid. momo - see the thing is, momo expects himself to settle down and have a kid. or kids. y'know. his entire life he's been raised with this endgoal paradise... and he'd be in SUPER, AWFUL, DENIAL, FOR YEARS, about being in a loveless marriage. momo would think he is kind of broken. his job keeps him away from home - n he would devote himself to it, to Avoid... the messiness... - and he would have a back-n-forth relationship w both mom and kid. it'd be really messy. type of father where the relationship improves, once the kid is an adult. meanwhile if he was an uncle/godfather, less - 24/7, Direct Blood relationship - he would be awesome. the LUMINARY OF THE STARS!! NOT EVEN CRYING CHILDREN - kii - i don't have a lot of thoughts on this scenario bc kii is, sort of, ... a growing thing. he'd have to be taught thru the experiences of others, fellow parents, to be a good one - n he would be near-forced to learn in that, as that's how he is programmed. and while writing this i went, 'HE IS, A ROBOT, HE CANNOT FUCK,' so he's probably - 'the father walked out' and thru crazy hijinks kii is now the stepdad. hilarity ensues. he would be painfully average, but Fine. hos - THIS GUY WAS DESIGNED TO BE THE BEST DAD EVER. lack of piggybacks tho. no, like, he is the most, emotionally aware, of anyone in vthree. he would be so stupidly toothrottingly sweet with kids, whether or not they're his own. hosh would probably cry into his bed every night, for awhile, after the birth bc ohh my godd... oh my god... he isn't the type to get, excited, though, so there could be some - "you never Support me," miscommunication, BUT it's easy to tell w time when hos is amped abt smth. otherwise? "Do you know, Saihara-san, how many horror movies or television shows feature deaths by sea creatures or drowning?" Sonia asked as she patted more wet sand onto him. Truly, Hope's Peak Academy had either been very brave or very foolish in allowing all of the Main Course students to have a day at the sea together. Between students trying to one-up the others in various physical pursuits, some trying to peep at the others while changing, and others unable to decide if the fish and shellfish were to be cooked or allowed to go free (this was mostly Gundham and Gonta versus Teruteru but they'd amassed a crowd), Sonia burying Shuichi in the sand seemed rather innocuous. She'd started with his legs and now was in the process of burying his torso, hands, and forearms.

At least she had the foresight to do so a bit away from the shore, though the later the day would get, the more problematic it would be: the tide would come in, slowly but surely, and creep over the buried Ultimate Detective. Except, both that and the heavy summer heat, weren't the most terrifying things of the day: it was her choice of conversation.

"There's Jaws of course, and Cape Fear, and Friday the 13th," She continued, "But there's also the lesser known water or marine sorts of deaths: What Lies Beneath, Cabin Fever, Don't Look Now, and I suppose Last House on the Left counts as Mari eventually dies from her injuries in the lake. But no one really discusses films about people getting buried alive too often! Like Buried Alive, The Serpent and the Rainbow, the second Kill Bill film, and even though she doesn't die, it is in Veronica's dreams in Heathers. I wonder what's more frightening: being eaten by a Shark or other sea monster, drowning, or being buried alive...they all make for a good film, don't you think?"

Combined with the sweetest of smiles Sonia was known for, she patted more wet sand over his inner elbows. Once she'd got to his shoulders, with how deep she'd planned to bury him, it would be quite a task for Shuichi to free himself on his own. And with how long it would take, it was only polite to keep him engaged with fascinating conversation and offer assistance if need be. "Oh!" She exclaimed, "Should I perhaps apply some more sunscreen to your face or get you something to eat or drink from Hanamura-san's buffet? Nothing messy, I can assist with the feeding if you'd like!"
