I've seen so much good meta but not nearly enough about Jupe & his former costars (including the chimp) like. I saw one person make a parallel between the incident and Jupe's design for his sons' constumes (a head which resembles the cameras and the body of a chimp. also worth noting that he didn't look at him directly- his head was obscured through a tablecloth.) but has anyone made the connection that he needed to reframe 'what really happened' through an SNL skit - one where the chimp was played by a human (once more playing to the theme of personification) and his wife needed to remind him that even trained animals are unpredictable IN THE MOMENT while dealing with a wild one. don't even get me started on the related themes of consumption like the chimp tearing off and/or eating his costars lips and that fact being revealed when Jean Jacket has had enough of her exploitation and eats them all instead of Lucky. or the fact that it's the consumption of the plastic heavily cartoonized (literally full of hot air) version of him that results in Jean Jacket's demise. Or the fact that Jean Jacket rained down change from the people she ate at the show and that's what let Em pay the well to take a picture of her (once more playing into the cycle of consumption)
