New treatment may improve pumping capacity in heart failure
New treatment may improve pumping capacity in heart failure
A clinical study at Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital shows that the hunger hormone ghrelin can increase the heart’s pumping capacity in heart failure. The results have been published in the European Heart Journal. Around 200,000 Swedes are estimated to live with heart failure, which is a condition where the heart’s pumping ability is impaired, for example after a heart…

Cracking the Code: The Intricate Science Behind Food Cravings
Science Behind Food Cravings: Decoding the Intricacies Understanding the Physiology: The science behind food cravings delves into the intricate interplay of hormones, neurotransmitters, and psychological factors. Ghrelin, often referred to as the hunger hormone, stimulates appetite, while leptin signals satiety. Dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure, also plays a role, creating a…

For more on this, I recommend researching leptin resistance, when the body becomes less responsive to the effects of leptin. The better you know your body, the better choices you can make.

Chronic Stress and Ghrelin Release
Chronic stress causes an increase in release of gherlin— the hunger hormone. This causes an increase in appetite, leading to weight gain in the long run.
Seen with chronic stress when the level of cortisol is persistently high for a long period of time. It is never seen with acute stress.
It is one the factors that causes weight gain when we are chronically stressed.

#Adiponektin #Ausbildung #Diabetes #Diät #Endokrinologie #essen #Fettleibigkeit #Forschung #Funktionelle_MRT #Gehirn #Gewichtsverlust #Ghrelin #Glucagon_ähnliches_Peptid_1 #Glukagon #Herz #Herzkrankheit #Hormon #Kinder #Krankenhaus #Krebs #Leptin #Medizin #Neuroimaging #Physische_Aktivität #Stoffwechsel #Typ_2_Diabetes #Verdauungstrakt

Sleep More, Diet Less: In What Way Do Sleep can affect "Hunger Hormone"
Have you ever thought about what causes you to feel full or hungry? Numerous signals in the body can control the amount of food we consume. Ghrelin often known as the hunger hormone is one of these signals. In the upper region of your stomach, Ghrelin can be described as the hormone that stimulates hunger. If the stomach is empty Ghrelin is released into the bloodstream and instructs the brain…

'why do i keep eating?'
hi, psych student 4na here who barely binges, let me help you!!
there's a brain chemical (called neurotransmitters) in your body called ghrelin that stimulates and regulates your appetite. well, meals that are high in protein satiate those ghrelin levels and bring them down, signaling that you're full. it's shown that eating smaller things on a more frequent schedule helps to minimize ghrelin levels and satiate hunger. it's also shown that drinking water helps promote the feeling of fullness and reduces cravings.
but ghrelin is also reduced by sleeping at night! getting less than seven hours actually makes you hungrier and makes you crave sweeter things that are likely higher in cals. also, the reason you keep eating on fasts is likely because ghrelin is your body's response to fasting. however, after day 2, ghrelin levels usually fall and stabilize.
ghrelin levels also rise JUST BEFORE EATING, so if you think about it, that's why you get such a strong urge to break your fast. distract yourself!
here's a short list of things to do while fasting:
catch up on assignments
outfit inspo boards on pinterest
go for a walk
ride your bike
teach your pet a trick
play with your sibling
take a shower or bath, full spa-day style
paint your nails
put something on a shopping list every time you think about eating to help associate eating with expenses
drink a lot of water every time you think about eating
watch a show you haven't gotten around to yet (if you need a recommendation: prodigal son on max is amazing)
scroll through an@ tumblr 😭
a good target for ghrelin reduction is getting 15-35g of protein and omega-3 fats in your meals!

Sometimes Makoto gets home from Future Foundation work and finds that Nagito and Izuru/Hajime are already in bed. Hajime is clinging to Nagito with his head resting on Nagito's chest, and Nagito is stroking his hair, consoling him with whispers of, "You're sooo human. So fallible. No more or less flawed than any other person. Perfectly natural. Completely understood and loved."
Makoto gets in bed, too, spooning him from the other side. "Hajime?" he says.
"You'll wrinkle your uniform," Hajime murmurs.
"That's okay. I want to thank you for fixing the strap on my bag. It's a lot easier to carry now."
"It's better now?"
"Yeah, it's a lot better. How was your day? Have you had lunch?"
Hajime buries his face further into Nagito's chest, muttering encyclopedically about ghrelin and leptin.
"He's had breakfast," Nagito answers. "And a rough few hours."
Makoto gets up, rubbing Hajime's shoulder apologetically when he lets out a plaintive sound. "I'll go get you something to eat."
Hajime says turns his head slightly to track Makoto's movement across the room, looking like at least part of him is considering dragging him back.
"How was your day?" Nagito asks after him.
"It was great." (Normally, he says "It was fine," but he tends to play up how well he's doing when those around him are in pain or distress. He has trouble admitting to having a bad day, at least the first time he's asked.) "How was yours?"
"Great," Nagito says, even though he probably hasn't had lunch either.
"You're both exhausted," Hajime sighs. "I've been useless all day..."
"People aren't supposed to have uses," Makoto says.
"Nope, we're supposed to have lunch!" Nagito says cheerfully.
Hajime rolls more of his body weight onto him, lest his other boyfriend escape, too, and clings tighter. Listening closely to the sound of Makoto at the stove.

I read a really hot TLT fic earlier and now I have some really fun ideas, using flesh magic (or sufficiently advanced tech) has some wonderful possibilities in feederism~
Imagine spiking someone's ghrelin production whilst blocking off their leptin receptors to make them hungry but prevent them from feeling full.
Intercepting nerve signals along the vagal nerve that the stomach is stretching out and rerouting them as if they were coming from the pudendal nerve instead, tricking your body into attributing the feeling of full to the sensation of someone stimulating your genitals.
Manipulating your metabolism to make gaining just that bit easier for you.
Sculpting your fat into an idealised shape for you, turning your body into the one you always dreamed of when you started gaining.
Repurposing nerves in your stomach to turn it into another erogenous zone.
Gosh there's so many absolutely devious things you could do that would make the experience of gaining just so much more perfect.

It’s so important in any beauty routine that you implement rest. A good 8 hours will do more for you than any cream or regimine.
3 important benefits to having a full nights sleep are:
1. Mood boost! - wake up feeling refreshed, energized and ready for the day. This is super important when you have a long day ahead of you or even if you’re just at home or running errands. Waking up feeling refreshed is sooooo important when it comes to having a good day! Nobody wants to be around Sleepy Sabrina! Or Nagging Nancy.. Okay! Scientifically speaking: Another thing that your brain does while you sleep is process your emotions. Your mind needs this time in order to recognize and react the right way. When you cut that short, you tend to have more negative emotional reactions and fewer positive ones.
2. Weight control! - even if you aren’t in a diet and you still feel like that GWORL living ya best life- mainitaining the weight you love means maintaining a good nights rest! When you are well rested, you are less hungry. You ever wonder why you wake up feeling cramps in your stomach like if food never touched your bawdiii before? Like if someone been keeping all the Oreos to themselves? Like you’re PMSing and the only thing you want is FOOD! That has a lot to do with lack of rest. Scientifically speaking: Being sleep-deprived messes with the hormones in your brain -- leptin and ghrelin -- that control appetite.
3. Your eyes, ears, mouth and nose! - ever heard that song or remember doing the dance at about 3 or 4? Well having a good sleeping schedule is kind of the same way. It’s good for your eyes- no black or dark spots. Big noooo-no! You can avoid having less wax accumulation- wonder why those AirPods be looking crazy lately? You wake up with less morning breath…this is scientifically proven yall! Still brush them jaws though and you get less congested when waking up. Ever wonder why you feel like you got allergies or like you’ve been snoring and your boo been embarrassing you about it? More rest will regulate that!
GET YOUR REST, child! Don’t let Tyrone, Timothy or Taijuan have you up till 3am talking about nothing- tell that man to call you in the AM ok! Love you lots 💓

Hello! Is it alright if I could request a fic? It’s mainly Connor, Nines and Sixty x reader. The reader just zones out mid work and just kept staring at their screen for so long the boys get concerned about the reader. Turns out the reader was just thinking about what to eat later on that day- if you’d like, you could add some more to it!
Tumblr media
A/N: Finally we are adding Sixty to the mix. This was so sweet and radom, I love the idea. So thank you so much for requesting this, nonny!
Summary: The request
Word count: 0.4k
Warnings: GN!reader, the rk bois post deviancy
Tumblr media
Crispy fries along with a juicy, cheesy big mac and a big cup of soda flashed before their eyes akin to hallucinations, caused by their hunger. Warm tomato soup with crispy sour bread slices also seemed appealing both to their imagination and starved stomach. Even the thought of butter spread atop of a simple toast made their mouth water. Though the reminder of the Chinese takeaway they had the other night had their stomach rumble.
Thoughts of all kinds of foods pestered their mind, making them forget about the word file displayed on their screen in front of them; the words before them faded and instead they saw a warm delicious dish of pasta. If they didn’t know better, they would have thought that they drooled on their keyboard.
Unbeknownst to them, the curious RK boys had noticed the suspicious lack of movement in them; for the past 20 minutes, they had blankly stared at their computer screen as if entranced by a mysterious force. It had both piqued their interest as well as aroused their worry.
‘Could there possibly be something wrong with (Y/N)?’ Connor questioned; his LED flickered in amber hues as he transmitted the date to his fellow successors.
‘Isn’t obvious, Connor?’ Sixty mocked as if he was fully aware of what was up with them.
‘Their levels of ghrelin had increased over the past hour.’ Nines noted, making it clear for both his predecessors that (Y/N) was simply hungry.
‘Lunch break is in 5 minutes.’ Connor remarked, impliedly suggesting something to his fellow androids.
‘We could invite (Y/N) for lunch.’ Nines added, saying exactly what Connor had in mind.
‘Yeah sure, but who’s going to ask them?’ Sixty questioned, unwillingly drawing the attention of both the RK800 and RK900; he scoffed and got up, taking the hint. Brushing the imaginary dust off his shoulders, Sixty approached (Y/N). Placing his hand on their chair all the while his other rested on their desk, he hummed their name, anchoring their attention. (Y/N) flinched not so much by his sudden appearance, but rather by their daydreams of food being so rudely interrupted.
“Oh hi, Sixty. What brings you here?” They were upfront with him still a bit pissed he ruined their little fantasy session.
“The boys and I were wondering if you have anything planned for lunch break.” He struck them with a smug smile.
“Nothing really beside eating.” Right then their stomach let out a low, threatening rumble.
“Fortunately, we are going to Subway.” Immediately, (Y/N)’s eyes sparkled with joy.
Allured by an offer they couldn’t resist; they agreed and spent the afternoon with their friends and delicious food too.

The sensation of wanting to consume unique combinations of food or more food than normal after using cannabis products is called “the munchies.” It occurs whether you choose to smoke, vape, or consume edibles and is the main reason why cannabis is recommended to cancer patients going through chemotherapy or for those experiencing certain eating disorders.
Your body normally signals to your brain when it's hungry by releasing small signaling molecules called hormones. These hormones go to areas in the brain, such as the hypothalamus, that signal you to look for food when your stomach is empty. Over 20 gut hormones, the most well-known being ghrelin, are produced to help regulate appetites.
Additionally, your body's endocannabinoid system (ECS) plays a role in controlling hunger. The endocannabinoids AEA and 2AG activate cannabinoid receptors in the body and stimulate hunger.
The science behind the munchies comes down to three separate mechanisms:
THC interacts with cannabinoid receptors on the gut's cells, which ultimately causes an increase in the levels of ghrelin being produced, making you feel more hungry.
In the hypothalamus, which controls hunger and appetite, among many things, there is a group of neurons called the POMC neurons, which typically release a compound to make you feel full. However, when activated by THC, it causes the POMC neurons to stop producing the compound that makes you feel satiated and instead starts producing endorphins, which make you feel more hungry.
THC can mimic cannabinoid compounds that the body makes, called endocannabinoids, that are involved in signaling hunger in the brain.
In each case, consuming cannabis makes people feel more hungry since THC causes the body to release or mimic hunger hormones.
