If blood sugar drops too low, you become lethargic & more hungry. . Too high, your pancreas secretes more insulin, bringing blood sugar back down, but primarily by converting the excess sugar to stored fat. . The glycemic index is a scale from 0 to 100 assigned to each food. The higher the number, the faster your body turns that food into a sugar within two hours of consuming it. . Therefore, when you eat high GI foods, you may feel an initial elevation in energy & mood as blood sugar rises, but this is followed by a cycle of increased fat storage, lethargy, and more hunger!😟 . This does NOT mean those foods are β€œbad” or should be avoided, rather we just need to be sure we’re achieving balance over all with what we’re eating. .
