Headcanon #34
Although being haunted by a Gengar may be a frightening experience, these Pokémon make the best of friends when on a Trainer's team. They are loyal, and they will stop at nothing to put a smile on their Trainer's face.

can i get a scarlet/violet gang x ghost trainer reader who lets their ghost types possess them for pranks ?
This took a minute to think about until mochi mayhem dropped--then I got ideas haha
...........
During the events of Mochi Mayhem...you seemed remarkably unfazed by Pecharunt's "curse" spreading throughout the village, finding it more amusing than frightening.
And it's because you were no stranger to being possessed yourself.
Your first experience occurred after a Spiritomb's soul got separated and found you as a temporary host while you were exploring some ruins in Paldea (with your poor Fuecoco at the time being terrified for you).
Fortunately it wasn't an aggressive one, just a scared lonely spirit that was piloting your body around until it was reunited with the other 107 souls of that Spiritomb....which turned out to be a shiny!
In a show of gratitude, it decided to join your team--and soon you found your true calling as a ghost type trainer.
So you've picked up other ghosts throughout your journeys in Paldea, Kitakami, and BB Academy.
At some point you trusted your main team enough to allow them to possess your body.
Initially, they only did if they believed it was necessary (ie saving you from a fall or sudden Pokémon attack).
But then you decide to let them do so for pranks and such--mainly reserving those for whoever bothered your friends, while other times your friends are the hapless victims.
Exhibit A: When a BB Academy student is harassing Kieran over how he used to act, you see him getting upset and have one of your Shiny Spiritomb's souls possess you, enabling you to creep up and stare at the bully--all behind his back without him ever noticing you.
He's confused when they suddenly look terrified and run away....and then he slowly turns around, screaming a bit upon seeing your face in the likeness of a Spiritomb (like in that one episode of Journeys where Ash gets possessed by one).
You feel bad, especially after the soul leaves your body, and you promise that you'll never do that again.
Although he is grateful you saved him from that intense moment.
Exhibit B: You're hanging out with Penny at your house, watching her play some horror game on your console.
Your Gengar gets the mischievous idea to turn the lights off and possess you, creating a creepy atmosphere all around the house, making your friend paranoid of whether the sounds were coming from the game or elsewhere.
In hindsight, it sounds hilarious..but you forgot Penny doesn't fw horror movie tropes like that.
As she commands Umbreon to attack you out of pure instinct-
Only to see you and Gengar get forcibly separated and hit the ground hard.
Knock Off was no joke.
She apologizes but is a bit annoyed bc she couldn't save her progress thanks to your "prank".
Exhibit C: While Arven is giving Nemona, Penny, Kieran, and Carmine lessons on the art of sandwich crafting, you stroll over with some purple mochi, offering it as a dessert.
Obviously they decline, seeing Pecharunt literally hovering beside you and wondering if you already forgot what happened.....and are horrified when you shrug and eat one, your eyes turning purple.
Yet before anyone can fully freak out, you just laugh and start talking normally.
To make a long story short, you and the mythical 'mon came to an agreement that you'll eat the mochi it provides as long as it doesn't make you do anything harmful (like battling) or anything ridiculous (like dancing and saying "mochi" nonstop) while possessing you.
It's still mischievous at heart, of course. You'll allow it to have a little bit of fun considering its troubling past.
Exhibit D: Your Skeledirge was the first 'mon you used the Synchro Machine on after arriving to BB Academy, walking around and battling wild Pokémon in the terarium for a few good hours.
This "reverse possession", however, left some adverse effects on you even after desynchronizing...as for several days you developed a habit for singing, could taste smoke in your breath, and even your partner's little fire bird companion decided that it wanted to nestle atop your head.
You realize what a funny prank this could be.
So you pull up to the cafeteria to the "date" Drayton invited you to and freak out the rest of the Elite Four (except for Crispin who immediately realizes you own a Skeledirge and thinks you're awesome).
That also makes for a rather...awkward reunion with Kieran who thinks you've seriously gone off the deep end, and you drop the act right away.
But he's too caught up in the idea of battling you and winning to care about why tf you're possessed rn.

Honestly how would paranormal investigator shows do in the Pokemon 'verse where pretty much most of the ghosts are a type of creature and not just dead people that peek around corners and make stuff go bump in the night?
Pokemon paranormal investigator episodes, including such common plots as:
We were hoping for a human ghost but all we found was a Gengar
We found a human ghost that is a Gengar
Whoops! all Gengar
We thought the thing making the clocks run backwards and the tv emit static was a ghost-type but it turns out it was just A Kadabra
We had to relocate this Greavard because it was accidentally killing its trainer
Let's see if peeking inside of Dusclop's bandages actually kills us or not
We interrupted yet another Drifloon child kidnapping
This was supposed to be a scary episode but we ended up sampling some of Sinistea's tea and overall had a lovely time
Oh this house is totally full of ghosts, we're actually trying to figure out if there's anything actually alive in it
Hey there, Giratina. It's me, ya boy

Ghost started to discover Pokemon after starting to date soap because usually plays alot of games and ghost wanted to talk with him about them and accidentally discovered Pokemon and first he was like huh why would anyone played a game with this weird things in them and just clicked away. After a while he just gets back to it and looked into the actual playing and then when he realised you take care of the creature he was gone and bought a game boy ( that's what he was most familiar with) and a Pokemon game and played in secret so mostly at night.
Soap and price notice he gets even less sleep and get worried that ghost isn't doing good and has heavy nightmare again so soap try to get ghost to sleep in his room with him ghost agrees but when soap is a sleep he gets out the Gameboy and continued playing till the morning. He finished the Pokemon games for the Gameboy but he still wanted more and he already replayed them all so then he brought an Nintendo 3DS because they seem more easy to use then the Nintendo switch ( felt to much for ghost) and started playing all the Pokemon games available. Soap once woke up at night and just saw ghost looking into what he first thought was his phone but was the 3ds and heard the low music coming from it he moved to see what was going on and ghost was so absorbed in the game he didn't notice and soap just watch ghost play Pokemon for the rest of the night till the alarm goes off.
The evening soap talked with ghost about it ghost was embarrassed at first but slowly got more comfortable with it when soap reassured him that it was alright so soap and ghost spending time now is soap sitting with his journal either drawing or writing and ghost playing Pokemon but they both talked that ghost needs his sleep and can't just play all night.
At first ghost was a bit mad about it because he wanted to play because this game made him happy (he never told this soap because he would never say this out loud) but after a while he agreed to not play all night and sleep.
Soap realised that ghost made the game really happy not just playing but also all the different Pokemons so he started to talk with him about it more and found out that gengar is on of his favourite. First he just got him a cute pin of gengar but slowly he got him more mostly just gengar but ghost also invested in some Pokemon plush and his room got more filled with Pokemon things not like overwhelming much but just enough to notice when you spend sometime in his room or offices.
Also when ghost finally got the switch he realised he can play with soap so sometimes they just have gaming time where they play Pokemon together and ghost is just so happy about this time and not really sure how to tell soap how happy he is about and how much he loves him for this

would you mind giving some headcanons about gengar as an autism helping pokemon? :))
Certainly! Gengar is actually an awesome Autism Support Pokémon, and here are a few ways that one can help in everyday life!
Gengar can lower the temperature of a room it's in by up to ten degrees! A common issue among autistic people is having trouble with regulating their body temperature, so Gengar is able to help by keeping you cool all day long!
Gengar is not a forgetful Pokémon, much like an autistic trainer. I've conducted my own research on this matter, actually! We all know that Gengar is a somewhat vengeful Pokémon, especially out in the wild, and that it will never forget the face of someone who had wronged it or someone it cares about. When put to the test in different scenarios, evidence shows that Gengar is able to remember important details such as appointments and events, and is able to, with varying degrees of success leaning towards "mostly accurate," remind its trainer of what it had been told. Take that with a grain of salt, though, as Gengar can be wrong or late sometimes, and set a reminder on your phone anyway. Just in case.
One reason that so many Pokédex entries theorize Gengar to be the reanimated souls of humans is their intelligence. Gengar is an extremely smart Pokémon, which allows for easy training to do basic, repetitive tasks in place of its trainer, such as watering plants, making short grocery trips, or checking mail, allowing its trainer to dedicate their energy to more pressing matters.
Because of its nature as a prankster, Gengar is also quite attentive to the emotions and reactions of the humans around them. Not as receptive as any Psychic-type, of course, but enough for it to notice if something is amiss, which lets it react and respond when its trainer is having, or is close to having, a meltdown. It's up to Gengar to retrieve a trusted friend or professional to assist in redirecting its trainer or, if no-one is around, to do its best at redirecting or grounding techniques by itself. This most commonly ends with Gengar removing its trainer from the environment or whatever else may be stressing them out.
On top of all of that, Gengar is a professional when it comes to eating and relaxing. If its trainer is burning themselves out on school or work, Gengar is not shy at all about dragging its trainer away from their task in order to eat, shower, and take a load off, and will not take no for an answer. It will eventually allow its trainer to return to their tasks, but it won't relent until its trainer is well-fed and well-rested before continuing.
It's important to remember that a lot of Pokémon are super smart! Many people don't give them credit where credit is due, and tend to underestimate their intellectual capabilities and their abilities to perform cognitive tasks. Not all Pokémon are quite so intelligent, though, so it's important to use one's best discretion to judge if a Pokémon is capable of performing complex tasks such as these.
Alongside Gengar, here are some other honorable mentions when looking for an Autism Support Pokémon:
- Stoutland
- Mr. Mime
- Persian
- Espeon
- Abra/Kadabra/Alakazam, any of them are fantastic for the job!
- Chansey/Blissey
- Audino
- Lucario

Any headcanons on training the gengar line?
- Gastly are relatively easy to care for and thanks to being part Poison-type, the entire line can eat almost anything without getting sick.
- The line is known for pulling pranks, but it is rarely out of malice. It’s their way of bonding with people. Regardless, it’s important that you make it clear what is acceptable and what isn’t. Otherwise they might take it too far and in severe cases, accidentally hurt someone.
- Gengar are able to make themselves intangible if they so choose, but otherwise their fur is surprisingly soft to the touch. They make good cuddle buddies because of this.
- Gengar are known for getting lonely easily and it’s not uncommon for them to develop separation anxiety.

What r the losers club Starbucks orders 😉
i am so glad u asked
richie: definitely something terribly sweet, partially for genuine enjoyment but partially because eddie physically gags seeing it. definitely like a caramel ribbon crunch frappuccino
bill: hm…. this is probably the hardest for me but i’m thinkin like an iced chai tea latte. he just kinda gives the vibes
stan: definitely just plain hot coffee with just a lil bit of milk and sugar.
mike: idk what kind but mike definitely strikes me as a tea enjoyer. i could see him drinking plain black coffee as well but i mostly just think he wouldn’t get anything too like sweet or complicated, just something quick and simple
ben: pink drink. 100%. not even a single doubt in my mind.
beverly: iced caramel macchiato. don’t know why, that’s just the vibe. and then around fall she gets pumpkin spice lattes
eddie: this may be self projection but i think like an iced latte, probably vanilla and probably with an added shot for a little extra energy. i think he likes coffee but definitely not enough to have it straight. also every once in a while he’ll treat himself to a frappuccino of some kind because it makes him feel rebellious knowing his mom would never let him have it

📂 Fitz & Boo :3
Boo is trained to hide in Fitz's shadow in places Pokemon are not usually allowed.
Boo can manipulate Fitz's shadow too! He will often give their shadow a face with bright pink eyes and a glowing grin, and he even has the ability to move the shadow into a slightly different pose. This is incredibly unsettling though, and Boo doesn't usually do it unless he is told to.

Headcanon #8
It is true that wild Gengar can be dangerous. They long for a traveling companion, and they will hunt for one through the shadows. There are verified reports of this happening, which is why Gengar is one of the most feared Pokémon. A domesticated Gengar, however, is perfectly happy with the companionship of its Trainer -- as long as it is treated well. It will happily wait for its Trainer's life to end naturally or by other means, so that they can be together forever.

Tickletober Day 31 /// Aftercare [Happy Halloween! 🎃]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part 2 of this
Stay safe trick or treating and enjoy!
You walk down the same road you just promised yourself not to ever trek down ever, but your thirst for vengeance and curiosity on the mysterious Gengar stopped you
It was sunset, the golden light shining and brightening your skin as you enjoyed the comforting warmth
The wheat field surrounding you swayed with the rhythm of the wind, calming you down
You knew he was here.
A smile creeped up on your face as tiny pattering footsteps could be heard from the wheat field
You didn't bother turning around since you could hear him step on the road you were walking on and chuckle evilly behind you
You whistled, not bothering to give him the attention he so desperately wanted and began kicking rocks, acting as tho he was never there
Gengar growled annoyingly behind you, he knew you could tell he was there. But he had his ways of getting what he wanted
He got into position and began to charge at you at top speed
You, of course, had a few tricks up your sleeve and was prepared for this moment
Just as Gengar was about to ram you in your back, you step out of the way and outstretched your arms and enclosed them around his body, successfully trapping him
You chuckled as he squirmed and tried his hardest to escape your embrace, but to no avail
Just to annoy him a little more, you stuck out your tongue and blew a raspberry at him, mimicking his childish behavior
Gengar growled but stayed limp in your arms, glaring at you
He sat down, still embracing him and placed him in your lap, but still keeping him pinned
He wondered what you were going to do to him, until he felt a little prod on his gut and looked down to see a single finger poking in belly
Gengar laid stiff as a board. Oh no.
You laughed again and poked again, getting his grimace to twitch up a bit
Again and again, you spidered and rapidly prodded all over his belly
Gengar's body began to quake with contained laughs, trying his hardest not to smile, but to his dismay, a bigger, more silly grin
It was only then you started to claw at his gut he started to laugh, thrashing with all his might to escape but stayed put in your arms
You awed at his efforts and began to tease him, uttering baby talk and asking whether he liked it or not
Gengar glared at you with his red eyes, but with all the chortling he's been doing, you couldn't help but find it adorable
You leaned down and pressed a tickly kiss on the lavender skin, getting Gengar to jump and cackle even harder as you pressed a succession of small, quick kisses on his gut
You could feel his chest shake and quiver with uncontrollable laughter. Gengar began to wheeze and pant at all the laughing he's been doing, so you stop and give him a moment
Gengar looks up at you, looking quite flustered with a strangely solemn expression, his checks were slightly pink and he was still smiling
You grin back, warming his heart
It was then this strangely connected moment ended as you started to become playful again, fluttering a finger under his foot
Gengar threw his head back and cried with renewed mirth as you teased his sole, wiggling between the spiked toes, fondly watching him lose his mind
You then move onto the other foot, this time using your entire hand to lightly scribble the sensitive skin, and feeling Gengar's tiny hands rapidly beat at your arms
You didn't falter however and kept at it, teasing him for his tiny toes and even threatening to nibble them if he kept trying to kick you
Gengar shook his head, begging for you to not do it but you promised you wouldn't...that was before you scritched at the very inseam of the toes, getting Gengar to cry out in mirth, his cheeks now a sweet magenta color
You lift him up from under the arms, looking at him fondly as he panted from the sheer torture
You weren't quite done yet, after all, he tortured you just as badly ;)
You took a deep, dramatic breath, giving Gengar just enough time to know of his impending doom before expelling all that air in the middle of his stomach
Gengar gasped before squirming so hard, you thought he would escape, but you held fast however, expelling water rippling raspberries
He cackled like a mad man to the high heavens, the corners of his eyes scrunched up with a smile so wide, it looked almost unnatural
You planted a light kiss on his belly and finally let him go
"Cute..." you said, stroking the top of his head to calm him from his high
Gengar purred at the affection as you rubbed under his chin and behind his ears, laying down on his stomach so you could get his back, wagging his tail as you did so
It was nightfall, the sun nearly gone from the sky as you stood over the pokemon
You gave him one last smile before standing up and beginning to walk away
It was a fun day, you got your vengeance and it left Gengar breathless, knowing he shouldn't mess with you again
But it felt wrong
To leave him here all alone, with no trainer in sight
You turn around, only to see him staring back, standing still as he watches you walk away
"Don't you have a trainer?" you ask, cocking your head
The sounds of cicadas and grasshoppers filled your ears as you awaited his answer
Gengar put his head down, eyes glistening with grief and guilt.
Your heart swells with sympathy and pity for the poor pokemon. Who could abandon such a captivating creature here?
You approach the Gengar once again and kneel down in front of him on one knee, reaching your hand out to touched his head
"I'll give you a home." you say softly
Gengar continued to look at the floor as you gave him affection but glanced up as you stood up to leave again, but not before offering a hand to him, to which he haphazardly accepted and you two make your way home
One of them now shares a roof with you

Do you have headcanons regarding the gastly line as a whole and what care they would need
Like most Pokemon, Gastly can control the radius of their poison gas to help make sure they don't poison anything accidentally. With that said, some trainers like to don gas masks when working with them so they can really go full-out with their abilities.
The line tends to be very goofy and fun-loving by nature. You may have to get used to the occasional good-natured jumpscare when training them.
(It's worth nothing that said pranks are a sign of affection. They aren't so harmless to people they don't like.)
Like most ghost-types, they survive mostly on other creature's life force. However, they also tend to be big eaters of physical food despite this. Consider giving them sweets as rewards for good behavior.
Because they pass through solid objects like walls often, it can require extra training to get them to stay in their Pokeballs as they tend to just phase through them whenever they please with little regard to their trainer's preferences.
Strong winds can weaken Gastly, so it's recommended to keep them in their Pokeballs during strong weather.
While not nocturnal, they dislike sunlight and are most active at night. Dusk balls are usually their preference compared to regular Pokeballs.
Gengar are a medium-difficultly mega evolution; a strong bond is needed to prevent them from cursing their trainer, but they have no physical issues and quite enjoy their newfound dimension-hopping abilities. They handle g-maxing even better; try out both to see which your Gengar prefers.

Pokemon SWSH - Allister Headcanons (General)
This is my first post and my first time writing for characters so please forgive me if I'm all over the place haha...Allister is such a sweetheart and I really regret not getting Shield just because he's not a Sword charater :(
Tumblr media
Anyway, it's a given that he's really introverted.
His Gengar acts as a parental figure for him. Hear me out.
I don't know much about his family life but right now I assume that his parents weren't in the picture much. So I think Gengar would have taken that role for him.
Given that his best friends are ghosts, he never really learned to socialize with other people.
He's actually a really sweet kid, he's just introverted and doesn't know how to put his thoughts into words.
Which leads me to believe that he likes art. Specifically abstract art because it doesn't have to have a definite form. It's whatever he wants, and that is a comfort to Allister.
He would never show his drawings to anyone though. Only his Pokemon, *maybe* a close friend if you're lucky
Night owl FOR SURE
Loves looking up at the stars, definitely has a space dedicated to astronomy books and stuff
I saw this somewhere online and thought it was really cute - his mask is based off of Cursola :)
Gets overstimulated easily, especially during battles at the Ghost Gym. His pokemon would help him calm down and get to a quiet place after
Probably is at least a little into witchy stuff - has a small altar for little trinkets and offerings
