my sigilyph likes to watch me sleep at night and it sometimes scares me when I wake up in the middle of the night and see it's eyes in the dark. is there any sort of explanation for this odd behavior? I don't really have a problem with it, it's just.... weird.
perfectly normal behavior for a sigilyph. they were bred as guard pokemon thousands of years ago, and the behavior is completely instinctual at this point. even captive-bred sigilyph do this behavior.
i highly recommend reading up on what your pokemon's natural behaviors are, as understimulated pokemon will take out their boredom in the form of behavioral issues, and it's also not good for their mental wellbeing.

Clodsire fight with each other by headbhtting and slapping their opponent until one of them gives up. This is considered extremely cute and fun to watch by many Pokémon experts.

Scientifically speaking, Pikachu-analogs like Pachirisu and Dedenne aren't considered a feasible scientific term. Quite a few of them aren't even closely related, apart from being Electric Type mammals.
Plusle and Minun are lagomorphs like Buneary, while Togedemaru are erethizontids like Chesnaught. Morpeko, Dedenne and Pawmi are rodents, just like Pikachu and Pachirisu.
Using the same unscientific method of classification, even an arachnid like Joltik could be considered a Pikachu-analog!

Can Pokemon be gay?
I think I've actually answered this, but I can always shine some more light on it.
Short version: Yes, technically.
Longer version:
A lot of pokemon that act on base instincts or have a more simple mind, don't really have a concept of gay or straight, rather they have natural instincts to mate and reproduce, however there will be times when two of the same sex partners will mate or will conduct rituals similar to paring like opposite sex partners.
It doesn't mean that there's a concept of Gay or Straight. Rather, they just do what feels right for them.
When a pokemon is of a higher intelligence, they can understand human concepts like this, but they can also understand concepts like love and family, so they end up having more complex relationships, including same sex pairings.
This isn't too uncommon, and it's also not as frowned or harsh in the pokemon world as a lot of levels of respect and understanding comes from power rather than how they view each other.
If you're the biggest and strongest Magikarp in the lake and you have a male partner, well, no one will question you if you can slap them around.
So yes, they can be gay, and they probably do it better than humans, too.

Can pokemon be gay? My male Talonflame wont stop trying to court the other male Talonflame that lives by my house
Homosexuality in pokemon is a long documented phenomena, and is actually quite common in the natural world! It's much more common in social bird and mammalian pokemon, and particularly marine mammals, but there seems to be some evidence for it in nearly every pokemon grouping.
So, more likely than not, your pokemon is displaying courtship behavior to this other male because He is in fact interested in him. Talonflame are generally monogamous, and may sometimes mate for life, so it may be worth reaching out to the trainer of the other Talonflame if he is tame, or otherwise if it is a wild individual you may find yourself with a second when your pokemon brings its partner home with it haha.

Galarian Ponyta/Rapidash Fun Facts
Though lone Galarian rapidashes will often flee when confronted by humans, they become extremely aggressive when their foals are involved, and are prone to lashing out in a very dangerous way. This behavior likely developed in response to the ancient practice of hunting Galarian ponytas for their horns, which were said to have magical healing properties. Though this practice has been outlawed for centuries and is no longer commonplace, Galarian rapidashes are still fiercely protective of ponytas; for this reason, visitors to the Glimwood Tangle that hope to catch a member of the line are encouraged to seek out solitary specimens rather than scouting for herds.
Galarian ponytas are both capable of sensing the intentions of humans, and very wary of approaching anyone that is actively seeking them out-- another result, most likely, of Galar’s ancient horn-hunting practice. Because of this, it’s often said that they, paradoxically, can only be found by those that aren’t looking for them.
Galarian ponytas or rapidashes with Kantonian ancestry display unique coloration, with coarse manes that take on hues ranging from sparkling orange to magenta. This “sunset mane” is considered highly desirable by some due to its unique beauty, and has resulted in several breeding operations with a focus on breeding between the two subspecies. However, these crossbred equines often seem to lack STAB for one or even both of their types (or any type, for that matter), a common issue faced when crossbreeding different varieties of the same species-- making them inferior battlers when compared to their standard Galarian or Kantonian counterparts.
Though Kantonian rapidashes are capable of reaching higher galloping speeds, Galarian rapidashes are much more prolific jumpers, and at times seem to “glide” short distances when jumping-- a feat no doubt aided by the Psychic energy stored in their hair and feathered fetlocks!
The hair of the Galarian ponyta line can glow for weeks or even months after falling out, depending on the psychic power of the specimen in question. It’s not uncommon for trainers to turn any discarded locks of hair into temporary keychains due to their colorful, sparkling qualities.
Due to their relatively small size, emotional intelligence, and their ability to easily understand the needs of their trainer, Galarian ponytas make for absolutely stellar service animals-- as would Galarian rapidashes, if not for their significantly larger stature.
Like many Fairy-types, the Galarian ponyta line possesses a powerful sweet tooth! Though feeding them exclusively sweet foods is certainly not recommended, an occasional snack of fruits, berries, or even sugar cubes will easily pacify most foals. They’re also very partial to mint.
Galarian ponytas and rapidashes are known to greatly enjoy soft music of the classical variety. One recent viral video features a small herd of them approaching a harp player in the woods, the latter of whom remained totally unaware of their equine audience for the entire duration of the herd’s stay-- the performer in question apparently only noticed their presence when editing the footage the next day.

Something Cool About Giratina
A fairly little-known fact about Giratina is that they’re actually the calmest, least territorial, and friendliest of the Creation Trio - and as extremely dangerous Legendaries go, they’re relatively safe. Giratina often get a bad rep and a negative portrayal in media, but they’re in fact rather relaxed creatures that don't act out unless they're provoked.
There are many incidents of people becoming friends with wild Giratina, or of humans or other Pokemon and Giratina assisting each other. Giratina naturally protect our world through the Reverse World, so it’s generally not a significant departure from their usual behavior for them to help people and other Pokemon.
Initially, they’re untrusting and may react violently to being startled or damaging their territory. Even then, they’re not violent without direct reason. However, once they’re calm and trust has been established, they’ve been known to be downright friendly, even carrying people around on their backs or heads and playing with nearby Pokemon.
As such, in regions other than Sinnoh, they don't qualify as a Dangerous Legendary because they're so rarely violent. Sinnoh is not happy about this, at all. They're quite polite, and wonderful to work with.

The myth of Froslass enjoying the souls of men the most only really applies to the Kalosian ones! There's just something wrong with those ones. In every other region, they're fairly indiscriminate when it comes to gender, preferring instead to prey on the weak or injured.

Coming to you for assistance because you're probably crazy enough to know--Buzzy, my best friend Buzzy keeps accidentally whacking stuff with the.. um, the large pointy straw on his face [I.. Forgot the word I'm a fake bug type trainer arent I]. It's gotten to a point where I've wrapped a part of it in cloth; which looks cute and all don't get me wrong but do you know any tips for getting this madness to end?
- @bugsthatcanfight
I am horrified by myself as I do, in fact, know what to do.
Now, what im assuming you are referring to is called the proboscis. That's what Buzzy uses to feed. But the thing is, Buzzy only needs to tip of the proboscis to eat.
So, what should you do? If I was to you, I would use the head butting gogoat method.
When gogoats are aggressive and keep head-butting other Pokemon in their herd, their owners cut up pool noodles (I advise you to make sure you leave enough space for Buzzy to eat so it could be comfortable) and put it on their horns (of course you will be putting it on its proboscis)
Other ways you could prevent this behaviour is;
- Spray Buzzy with a high powered water gun (A TOY ONE, don't make a Pokemon of yours use water gun on Buzzy)
- Use a air horn to stop Buzzy in it's tracks
- A high-pitched 'SHHT!' to startle it and frown. Pokemon are great at reading your emotions.
Hope that any if these could help ^^

Do you have Hydreigon over in Galar? If you ever see one, would you mind drawing it? ((OOC: I’m not sure if you take requests, but I would love to see what a Hydreigon would look like in your style.))
Hydreigon are extremely rare in Galar, but they are around. There's plenty of pictures that the Professor has taken of a few named specimens around the Lake Of Outrage. I can't draw one from life (nor would I like to approach a wild Hydreigon), but I can certainly reference a previously taken photograph.
Tumblr media
Hydreigon are not closely related to other Dragon types. To my knowledge, Hydreigon are not closely related to anything alive today. The changes they go through during their evolution are bizarre: They have perfectly functional eyes but rarely use them. They begin with perfectly functional forelimbs, which degenerate and disappear with later evolutions, only to have them replaced by Hydreigon's lesser heads. None of its six wings can achieve powered flight; Its body is filled with gas bladders that allow it to levitate while the wings are used primarily to steer. It is not efficient, at all.
Hydreigon's brain (singular) is not located in any of its heads, it is nested deep in the center of its body, in a position analogous to the human heart. Only the greater head is capable of sight and actions like swallowing food. The lesser heads have no such abilities, they are both completely blind and despite being covered in taste receptors, have no method with which to eat or drink. The holes present in the 'throat' only lead to the Hydreigon's respiratory system. As it stands, they may be better compared to an extremely convoluted set of nostrils capable of biting a human arm clean off.
Hydreigon is best known for its destructive capabilities and foul temperament. The reputation is not unearned, as they are incredibly brazen in picking battles, are highly territorial, and are very capable of killing a human being with little effort.
One thing they are often accused of is human predation. This is patently false, as any UltraWeb search engine could tell you. A Hydreigon may grievously injure a human with a 'test' bite from one of the lesser heads, but there is almost no Pokemon that will intentionally target any human as a prey item (I hear we are not very nutritionally dense or tasty).
Most recorded attacks by Hydreigon on humans are taste-tests, followed by territorial bellows and Dragon Pulse warning shots. They will inflate the ring of wattles on all three of its heads, scream, and fire colorful pulse-type attacks until the offending party has been successfully escorted an acceptable distance away.
Often, those who have experienced this threat display will swear up and down that they were almost mauled to death, and that they barely escaped the hellish rain of Dragon energy with their lives. Anybody being regaled with this type of story should know: any Hydreigon can cleave a person in two with very little effort. It can fly faster than any human sprinter, and it can smell your sweat a mile downwind. If it wanted them dead, they would be dead.

Headcanon #8
It is true that wild Gengar can be dangerous. They long for a traveling companion, and they will hunt for one through the shadows. There are verified reports of this happening, which is why Gengar is one of the most feared Pokémon. A domesticated Gengar, however, is perfectly happy with the companionship of its Trainer -- as long as it is treated well. It will happily wait for its Trainer's life to end naturally or by other means, so that they can be together forever.

what is the silliest pair of bonded Pokémon that came through your shelter
one time someone brought in a chansey that was carrying a smoliv around in her pouch. she had been released by her owner's daughter when her owner passed away, and due to a hormonal issue was unable to produce eggs. as a result, she would apparently carry anything vaguely egg-shaped around, and in her wandering around artazon she picked up a smoliv. the smoliv was perfectly content to be carted around and protected by a larger pokemon, and was distressed at being separated from her, so we adopted them out as a pair.

Most Bug Types don't require as much sleep as other types of pokemon, but there are quite a few Bug Types that require more sleep than a drowsy Slowbro!
During their first two years, Sizzlipede sleep for about 18 hours a day. They take countless Meowth-naps throughout their day, sometimes only a few minutes per nap!
Pinsir, unlike their Heracross cousins, actually have a sleep pattern very similar to that of a human. They become very sleepy when the sun goes down, and will return to the same sleeping spot every night.

Interesting Species
Now I don't talk too often about some of the unusual species we have around Sinnoh because a lot of trainers would try to catch rare or unusual species.
We had to keep some of these a bit of a secret for a while because of how badly people would be trying to go out of their way for them. (Let's not forget the shiny Metagross situation)
However, I've seen plenty of responsible trainers here, so I don't see a problem in sharing some educational information from around Sinnoh.
Underground Bugs
Now it's not too irregular for bug types to spend time underground, but due to our Underground Hideouts, a lot of abandoned areas have been taken over by bug types that don't usually spend a lot of time underground.
Kricketune have taken over a small area that allows them to play music much louder. They love the acoustics.
We have found a difference in music and size, some surprising increases in power.
Their musical style seems to change as well, diversified by deeper sounds that can hit way harder.
However, they seem to have developed an intolerance to the sun, so we don't advise people trying to catch these guys.
Sea Ekans
One thing that a lot of trainers don't expect are land based pokemon that suddenly appear in water.
Although not native, some Ekans and Arbok seem to have taken to swimming near some lakes close to the Marsh.
Since the marsh is partially flooded, any viper like pokemon would need to adjust to the larger abundance of water in their hunting ground.
Ekans and Arbok have become a slightly more recurring sight on the Marsh shores, prompting some people to assume they are actually part water type, when they actually have just adapted to the environment pretty well.
Spiritual Fighters?
People know Lucario as being a powerful fighting type pokemon with mastery over Aura Manipulation. However, there is a deeper, spiritual side to fighting, which seems to be something a lot of fighting types have been practicing.
We have observed many roaming fighting types traveling to more sacred places in Sinnoh and practicing new fighting styles.
Out of respect for their training, I choose not to disclose where they would go, but I find this to be very impressive, and I wonder what might come from this.
These are only some of the unique pokemon behaviors I have seen, and some of these guys I do have regular interactions with.
The Ekans especially has become a reoccurring visitor, The Duke seems to find them a worthy opponent.
