Archon, Wheel
Tumblr media
Image © Paizo Publishing
[Sponsored by @razzelmire. I really like how fleshy the eyes of the wheel archon look, and the weird sinewy tissues in the hub/mouth. It's interesting that they are inflexible paladin types explicitly in the flavor text, more so than other archons. Is it because they're less humanoid? Is it a reference to the Book of Ezekiel, and how its depiction of God (in the first two thirds, anyway) is judgemental and destructive? Or was it an author trying to differentiate different flavors of Good for different celestials in the same product? It could be all of these, or none of them.]
Archon, Wheel CR 16 LG Outsider This being is a wheel the size of an elephant, seemingly made of fire and golden plates. It has a staring eye on each spoke, and its hub is a mouth-like orifice.
The wheel archons are among the least humanoid of the archons, and among the least forgiving. Wheel archons are stubborn and indomitable, and rarely go on missions requiring tact or diplomacy. They are often sent to deliver a message to a prophet, or as a herald of the armies of Heaven. A wheel archon’s view of good and evil is rigid to the point of inflexibility. They are excellent at following orders, but eschew moderation and forgiveness for righteous wrath. They view themselves as the arbiters of Heaven’s laws, and are willing to be judge jury and executioner all at once if need be. They do not tolerate dishonesty in any form, and respond to lies with violent retribution.
A wheel archon’s strategy is as direct and forthright as everything they do. They fly into the thick of battle, spraying flames and slamming into enemies with their spiked rims. Their stern gaze can dispel illusions and force shapechangers to resume their natural shapes, and if they suspect that they are fighting disguised enemies, use this ability liberally mixed with attacks. Fires created by a wheel archon, whether by its spells or sprayed from its fiery spokes, burn through fiends despite any fire resistance they might have. Wheel archons do not accept surrender or surrender themselves unless they are explicitly ordered to do so by a superior.

ÄYLCEPHOMUS CELESTIAL HIERARCHY
SERAPH (plural noun: SERAPHIM): They’re celestial humanoids with six fiery wings, one pair for flying, another covering the face and the final pair covering the feet, crotch or torso. They are the natural caretakers of their creator’s divine throne and bearers of sacred knowledge. They also help to maintain the equilibrium of the universe and carry out purification rituals by touching the lips with burning coal from an altar. They’re the highest in the celestial hierarchy, which means they’re the closest to divinity and the firmament of heaven. They’re most commonly seen in the Primum Mobile of The Angels and Empyrean.
CHERUB (plural noun: CHERUBIM): They have two large pairs of wings that appear to be like polished bronze and are said to create thunder by flapping them. They also have four faces; that of a human (front), eagle (right), lion (left), and ox or cow (back). They are the irresistible guardians of the heavenly garden and the pearly gates to their realm. They’re most commonly seen at the gates of heaven, the sacred garden, Primum Mobile of The Angels, and Empyrean.
OPHANIM, GALGALIM or THRONE (plural noun: THRONEs): When in their true form, they appear to be four interlocking, eye-covered wheels that surround either a celestial youth or fetus. They’re responsible for carrying out divine justice and maintaining cosmic harmony of all universal laws. They are also responsible for protecting the holy chariot and its mercy seat. They’re most commonly seen in the sacred garden, Saturn of The Contemplatives, Primum Mobile of The Angels, and Empyrean.
CHALKYDRI: They’re a unique angel breed because their appearance is far more animalistic compared to the others. When in their natural form, they have the head of a crocodile with a lion’s tail and twelve purplish-red wings. They are responsible for running the Sun’s course around the Earth, bringing the planet heat and dew. They are also responsible for alerting the birds of the multiverse for a new day to rejoice by breaking into song at sunrise. They’re most commonly seen in the Sun of The Wise, Primum Mobile of The Angels, and Empyrean.
DESTROYING ANGEL or DESTROYER (plural noun: DESTROYING ANGELs or DESTROYERs): They are very important angels of divine punishment and destruction as well as psychopomps for the recently deceased. They’re only allowed to exercise their punishment and torment on wicked sinners and infernal beings if the divine council has proclaimed the sentence. They either have two, six or twelve wings that mimic the colours of scavenger birds such as vultures and magpies. They’re most commonly seen in the sacred garden, Moon of The Inconstant, and Primum Mobile of The Angels.
WATCHER (plural noun: WATCHERs): Originally, they were dispatched by the divine council and even the titans to watch over the humans. Unfortunately, after procreating with humanity and bringing the Nephilim into the multiverse, most were kicked out of heaven. For those who weren’t abandoned or didn’t participate in this incident, they were forced to become celestial warriors that protected heaven from the attacks of infernal beings or shepherds that attend to their livestock. They have six wings of a gleaming alabaster dove and are commonly seen in the Moon of The Inconstant, Sun of The Wise, Mars of The Faith-Warriors, and Jupiter of The Just Rulers.
DOMINATION, DOMINION or LORDSHIP (plural noun: DOMINATIONs, DOMINIONs or LORDSHIPs): They govern the movement of stars, planets, and other celestial objects whilst performing a few other important duties. These duties include delivering divine judgement, showing mercy towards sinners, and helping angels in lower ranks to stay organised and perform their work well. They have four wings that either resemble a male cerulean warbler, golden eagle, or bearded vulture. They’re most commonly seen in the Sun of The Wise, Mars of The Faith-Warriors, and Jupiter of The Just Rulers.
VIRTUE (plural noun: VIRTUEs): They are known for controlling the elements that are present within the multiverse. They’re angels of motion who govern nature and assist with miracles, encouraging humans to strengthen their faith in the titans. Unlike most angels, their two or six wings don’t resemble that of existing birds as they possess up to five different hues that are not always or never found in nature. They’re most commonly seen in Mercury of The ambitious, Venus of The Lovers, Sun of The Wise, and Fixed Stars of Faith, Hope and Love.
POWER or AUTHORITY (plural noun: POWERs or AUTHORITIES): They have authoritative power over all forces of evil, restraining them from doing harm. They have four wings and their natural hues are either similar to the ferruginous hawk or Egyptian vulture. They’re most commonly seen in the Moon of The Inconstant, Mercury of The Ambitious, Mars of The Faith-Warriors, and Jupiter of The Just Rulers.
PRINCIPALITY, PRINCEDOM or RULER (plural noun: PRINCIPALITIES, PRINCEDOMs or RULERs): They are given the responsibility to guide and protect nations or groups of peoples, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. They also preside over the bands of angelic subspecies and charge them with fulfilling their divine ministry. They have four wings that possess the colours of a crowned eagle, king quail, and black-billed magpie. They’re most commonly in Mars of The Faith-Warriors, and Jupiter of The Just Rulers.
ARCHANGEL or CHIEF ANGEL (plural noun: ARCHANGELs or CHIEF ANGELs): They have various duties such as delivering far-reaching messages to entire peoples or communities, creation and facilitation of soul contracts, managing life on Earth, maintaining natural order, and preserving ancient mysteries. As their name suggests, they act as natural leaders for the other bands of angels. They have two wings that mimic the colours of a blue jay or resemble shimmering and untainted gold with a brownish undercoat. They’re commonly seen throughout the spheres of heaven, but most inhabit Mercury of The Ambitious, Mars of The Faith-Warriors, Jupiter of The Just Rulers, Fixed Stars of Faith, Hope and Love, and the Primum Mobile of The Angels.
CHOIR ANGEL (plural noun: CHOIR ANGELs): They’re musical angels who are responsible for spreading festive joy, righteous pleasure, the practice of preserving stories, and hymns of praise. They are usually seen carrying intricate trumpets of shimmering gold and ancient scrolls full of lyrical songs. It’s believed that if they blow their trumpets while standing on a holy rock, they are announcing the fateful day of judgement. They all have two wings that mimic the natural hues of the purple starling, lilac-breasted roller, and the train of a male Indian peafowl. They’re commonly seen throughout the spheres of heaven, but most inhabit Venus of The Lovers, the Primum Mobile of The Angels and the Fixed Stars of Faith, Hope and Love.
EARTHLY ANGEL (plural noun: EARTHLY ANGELs): They are entrusted with the affairs of the world and keeping records on the actions of people. They’re lowest in the celestial hierarchy, which means they’re the closest to the earth and humanity. Male-bodied messenger angels have the wings of a male loon and the plumage of the female-bodied resembles that of a house sparrow. Similar to choir angels and archangels, they are commonly seen throughout the spheres of heaven, but most inhabit the Moon of The Inconstant and Mercury of The Ambitious.

“Ophanim”
Excerpt taken from Wikipedia: "The Ophanim (Hebrew: אוֹפַנִּים ʿōp̄annīm, "wheels"; singular: אוֹפָן ʿōp̄ān, “Ofan”), alternatively spelled auphanim or ofanim, and also called galgalim (Hebrew: גַּלְגַּלִּים galgallīm, "spheres", "wheels", "whirlwinds"; singular: גַּלְגַּל galgal), --- Refer to the wheels seen in Ezekiel's vision of the chariot in Ezekiel 1:15–21. One of the Dead Sea scrolls construes them as angels; late sections of the Book of Enoch portray them as a class of celestial beings who (along with the Cherubim and Seraphim) never sleep, but guard the throne of G̶o̶d̶." Shadow | v: Kill Your TV
Name: Yamato. (Taken from Yamato Takeru. Naoto isn’t very creative.)
Whiny child, mad scientist. Both sides are true, or so she claims. After acceptance, both facets find an even ground, resulting in less of a headache, probably. She spends time in the base, building and experimenting, whether on other Shadows or herself. In the rare moments where those fail to entertain and sate her curiosity, she steps out of the TV, or her preferred method, takes control over Naoto’s body. When Naoto’s resolve wavers, she’ll always be there to remind her of what happens if it crumbles all the way.
Quick Headcanons:
The name was only given to her during the battle against Izanami. Naoto felt some pity leaving her Shadow nameless for so long during a moment where they were probably about to die. Ask her now and she regrets it
Loves learning about the human body, probably wants to see if she can grow a skeleton.
Loves testing and experimenting :)
Do you know Glados—she’s like that.
Doesn’t wear a lab coat all the time.
Sounds like Naoto, except her voice has a hint of a static filter. Not present when she’s piloting Naoto’s body.
Is annoying don’t ask for her please.
Anything listed on the skill page she can use, along with what’s listed here, but for completion’s sake, I’ll list everything.

OKAY WE'RE SO BACKKK SO BACK OH MY GODDD
They put his old halo design as a pattern on the back of his coat :D
Also he now officially has 6 wings , 2 on his head and 4 on his back ;; I am so happy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also on his clothes he has 12 eyes + 2 of his actual eyes (There might also be eyes on his rings but I cannot tell due the quality of the picture sadly ;;
Once again I am Atheist, I get this knowledge from things I was taught but this may not be completely correct so feel free to correct me :)
When drawing biblically accurate angels they usually give them a lot of eyes. But, it isn't specifically mentioned for Seraphims:
Isaiah 6:1-8 MSG
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Master sitting on a throne—high, exalted!—and the train of his robes filled the Temple. Angel-seraphs hovered above him, each with six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two their feet, and with two they flew. And they called back and forth one to the other, Holy, Holy, Holy is GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies. His bright glory fills the whole earth. The foundations trembled at the sound of the angel voices, and then the whole house filled with smoke. I said, “Doom! It’s Doomsday! I’m as good as dead! Every word I’ve ever spoken is tainted— blasphemous even! And the people I live with talk the same way, using words that corrupt and desecrate. And here I’ve looked God in the face! The King! GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies!” Then one of the angel-seraphs flew to me. He held a live coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. He touched my mouth with the coal and said, “Look. This coal has touched your lips. Gone your guilt, your sins wiped out.” And then I heard the voice of the Master: “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” I spoke up, “I’ll go. Send me!”
I think, when people refer to the angel with a lot of eyes they refer to Ezekiel 1. Ezekiel 1 is the first chapter of the Book of Ezekiel in the Old Testament of the Bible. The Book of Ezekiel is a prophetic book, and it contains visions and prophecies from the prophet Ezekiel, who was a priest and a captive in Babylon. In here he described something called the Ophanim (AKA auphanim, ofanim or galgalim). The ophanim refer to the wheels seen in Ezekiel's vision of the chariot in Ezekiel 1:15-21. One of the Dead Sea scrolls construes them as angels but in the Book of Enoch they are a class of celestial beings who along with the Cherubim and Serpahim never sleep and guard the throne of God. In Christian angelology, they are one of the choirs of angels, and are also called Thrones (Wikipedia contributors, 2023).
These "wheels" have been associated with Daniel 7:9 (mentioned as galgal, traditionally "the wheels of galgallin", in "fiery flame" and "burning fire") of the four, eye-covered wheels (each composed of two nested wheels), that move next to the winged Cherubim, beneath the throne of God. The four wheels move with the Cherubim because the spirit of the Cherubim is in them. The late Second Book of Enoch (20:1, 21:1) also referred to them as the "many-eyed ones". - Wikipedia
Nowadays the many eyes also get put into many other designs that have anything celestial / angel-like which is honestly so cool :') I love it.

Hierarchy of Angels in Heaven
Forgot to post this the other day, so I'm gonna do that before it happens again--
The different titles in each "tier" are considered equals. The biggest difference is essentially just what job/duties they're usually asked to oversee. For example, Ophanim/Galgalim are typically better suited to leadership roles dealing with administration/ambassador (out of realm) type tasks, while Thrones are typically better suited to leadership roles dealing with more guardian/organization (in realm) type tasks. Both are considered titles that denote a higher leadership role, they just focus on different things.
Ruling tier (Sometimes called the Elohim when referred to as a group):
Hariphim
Seraphim
Archangels
"Highest" tier (Sometimes called the Erelim when referred to as a group):
Ophanim/Galgalim
Thrones
"Middle" tier (Sometimes called the Hashmalim when referred to as a group):
Virtues
Dominions
Cherubim
"Lowest" tier (Sometimes called the Malakim when referred to as a group):
Powers
Principalities
"Guardian" Angels

it is hilarious how shyna beats galgalim, and is like, "nah, bye, i'm leaving." then immediately zohar skids across the floor, grabs shyna, flies off the edge, throws shyna into the wall, flies down the hole and "lands" gracefully whilst shyna faceplants into the floor of the new arena. ah the irony

A bit of silliness featuring Beelzebub and his buddy Chayyiel, who is one of the fallen Galgalim... Chayyiel’s center wheel has spokes that turn into stabby spikes when threatened.
Quite obviously, Bee is a fan of anything that is stab-happy.
In my works, the Galgalim are a subtype of Ophanim. They are specifically the violent Wheels with eyes who whirl very fast and have spokes. The other two types of Ophanim are similar to each other and also have wheels and eyes, but move slower and have wings instead of spokes. For ease of language, in English, my Galgalim are just called “Wheels” (their main feature) and the other two are just called “Little/Great Thrones”(in reference to their duties, which are different from the Galgalim in my universe)
My original picture of Chayyiel with one of the Little Thrones named Ossiel will be reposted soon, now accompanied by one of the Great Thrones named Lumael...

another info dump, this time about the hierarchy of angels :)
fun fact about the “biblically accurate angels” is that they usually depict ophanim or galgalim, sometimes called “the wheels.” one of the dead sea scrolls calls them angels (4Q405), whereas the book of enoch portrays them as a class of celestial beings, like the seraphim or cherubim, and the first book of enoch equates them with the thrones, another angel rank described in christian angelology (61:10, 71:7).
Tumblr media
the ophanim are described to be 4 wheels, each of 2 nested wheels, covered in eyes, that move next to the winged cherubim, beneath the throne of god (Ezekiel 1:15-21 NIV). Ezekiel 1:15-21 NIV reads:
"... I saw a wheel on the ground beside each creature with its four faces. This was the appearance and structure of the wheels: They sparkled like topaz, and all four looked alike. Each appeared to be made like a wheel intersecting a wheel. As they moved, they would go in any one of the four directions the creatures faced; the wheels did not change direction as the creatures went. Their rims were high and awesome, and all four rims were full of eyes all around" (Biblica).
going back to the aforementioned cherubim. cherubim are another class of angel, still within the first sphere, that guard the way to the tree of life in the garden of eden (Genesis 3:24, Ezekiel 28:14 & 28:16) and the throne of god (Ezekiel 1:15-21 NIV). they have 4 faces, that of a man, an ox, a lion, and an eagle, all of which were later adopted as the signs of the 4 evangelists. they have 4 conjoined wings, which are covered in eyes, a lions body, and ox feet (Ezekiel 1:5-11 KJV). in the image shown previously, a cherub is on the right. Ezekiel 1:6-11 KJV reads:
"And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.
And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot...
And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.
Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.
As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.
Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies" (Bible Gateway).
Tumblr media
(Petites Heures de Jean de Berry, 14th cen.)
then there’s the seraphim. they are the highest class and translate to “the burning ones.” in isaiah chapter 6 in an idealized version of solomon’s temple, they are described as having 6 wings. one pair covers their faces, one their feet, and one which they use to fly. they sing constant praises of god (Isaiah 6:1-3 KJV). Isaiah 6:1-3 KJV reads:
"... I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory" (Wikisource).
However, this isn't to say that the stereotypical image of an angel is incorrect. the ophanim/galgalim/thrones, cherubim, and seraphim are just 3 angel groups, all in the first sphere. The second sphere contains dominations/lordships (Guiley, 1996), virtues (The Etymologies of Isidore of Seville, 2006), and powers/authorities (The Etymologies of Isidore of Seville, 2006). The third sphere includes principalities/rulers (Ephesians 1, Ephesians 3), archangels (Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible), and angels/malakhim. additionally, this is part of proposed theories about angel hierarchies and theology.
sources as they appear in the text, since this one is kind of a mess:

for later reference, the silhouette mirage saturn's debug mode has these commands:
l + a, l + b, l + c, l + x = enable hitbox(?) views (four different settings: off, 2d, 3d, dots???)
y = centres shyna on-screen, l + y zooms out, r + y zooms in, l + r + y resets camera
z = defeat boss
second controller = control zohar. i don't know if it's just zohar and just in the core of eruza but. you can do it.
also, the stages to be selected in stage select
0-0 tutorial
1-1 desert
1-2 cave
1-3 bug boss fight
2-1 the city one
2-2 also the city one but on a truck this time
3-1 outside the castle
3-2 inside the castle
3-3 pablo boss fight
3-4 malak boss fight
4-1 cute little town
4-2 tv tower
4-3 soup
5-1 shyna gets eated (just like the bible!)
5-2 gun frogs
5-3 megido boss fight
6-1 oh lawd we falling
6-2 eruza
6-3 galgalim boss fight
6-4 zohar boss fight
7-1 zohar mt / sepher ha-zohar boss fight
7-2 choose your ending (left choice is armageddon, right choice is megido)
7-3 megido boss fight
7-4 zohar mt / seraphim
as for the usa psx version, it doesn't have a debug mode, but it does have a stage select and "char resize":
r2 + up or down makes shyna bigger or smaller. (it is super easy to get yourself stuck whilst doing using this command, though).
the bigger you are, the higher you can jump and the faster you can move, and the hitboxes of you and your attacks are bigger. however, things that fling you fling you farther and can easily send you to areas you aren't supposed to get to.
the smaller you are, it's the opposite; you can't jump high nor move fast, and the hitboxes of you and your attacks are smaller. things that fling you fling you less of a distance.
you can make shyna so small her height starts to go in reverse and she's rendered up-side down (glitchily). you can't really advance the game this way.
and the stage select, though it's nearly the same as the saturn version, has some changes:
0-0 and 1-1 both send you to The Desert
6-5 reaper boss fight
6-6 also choose your ending (but left choice is geluve, not armageddon)
7-5 and 7-6 take you to the endings
