Dragon Ball (Comic Book AU)

Currently brainstorming an AU where Dragon Ball was an American comic book series created in 1955, with certain changes and fan response. I'm presently brainstorming Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super since I'm most familiar with those series:

1980s: Everyone raves about the beginning of Goku's adult era, particularly with the world-building and his origins (though I do prefer recent retcons). This decade's comic covered the Saiyan Saga and Freiza arcs.

1990s: I always hear that this was the golden age for the property, as it had the Cell saga. In particular, the 90s run received critical acclaim for introducing the future version of Trunks Briefs as well as giving Gohan more of the spotlight, with some rumors saying that he would take up the role of "Kakarot" in place of Goku. Then they dropped the ball and threw Gohan to the back burner because writer Isaac Martinez couldn't see Gohan abandoning "his dream" of being a scholar and let Goku take the focus once more. I really hated that, and I hated how Future Trunks and Android 18 were hypersexualized from this period on. They've lightened up a bit on it now, but still (I did like how 18 eventually dyed her hair blonde and everyone compared her and her brother to X-Men's Emma Frost and Shinobi Shaw). Plus I think that the "Cooler" and "Bojack" arcs are pretty overlooked.

2000s: The 2000s was probably a huge amount of turmoil for the series. When writer Dan Golder was brought on for the series, he was a big fan of the 1980s eras where Goku was the main star, and felt that by having him being a good father made the series "boring." As such, he created what some fans call the "bad dad" era, where Goku was a hero first and foremost, featuring his family very little, if at all. The weird part about it was that subsequent writers not only followed his lead, but also featured other characters as good parents (ie Krillin and Vegeta), almost as if to highlight the fact that being a bad parent made you a better hero. Needless to say, fans were NOT pleased, and they had toned it down a bit by the time the Majin Buu era came along, but the writing seemed to suffer the same curse as the Cell Saga when it came to Gohan, hyping him up only to put him down. The label did try to salvage this by giving him the identity of Saiyaman (inspired by the Ginyu force, who at this point were retconned as gay/bi men, if I recall correctly; I think the Saiyan race as a whole was almost retconned as bi as well, but that idea was cancelled) and a short-lived spinoff series, but the costume wasn't super inspired and the series felt more like a parody than an actual attempt at making Gohan the breakout star he was meant to be. Outside of the main series, several AU comics did well (one of them concerning Future Trunks; the GT series also gained some followers), but the main series had few blips of greatness during the 2000s.

2010s: By 2015, the series had kind of settled into the station of mediocrity, and it wasn't until Masako Nozawa came onto the scene that the series went into a more critically and financially successful direction, taking inspiration from previous Dragon Ball Arcs over the decades in order to appease new and longtime fans. It was during this time that Gohan took more focus again, though in a much more serious direction that rivaled Goku's successful runs. Androids 17 and 18 were featured more in the series, with Nozawa having them address each other by their birth names (as had been previously confirmed in the 1980s), and their backstories being fleshed out more. Broly was made canon in the main universe, and Future Trunks returned to the present for another story arc. Vegeta also rose to prominence, with some fans suspecting that Goku would soon die and Vegeta would take Goku's mantle. Along with this, alternate universes were addressed in the "Universe Survival" saga, leading to speculation that another AU comic would be made, focusing on Frost and/or the three saiyans.

P.S. Even though this is designed as being made by an American comic publisher, I'm unsure if Goku's home would be in America or westernized Japan; either way, the Japanese influence and cultural aspects are a lot less tokenized by the 21st century. Plus I own NONE of this art.

Vegeta x (Saiyan) Tifa - Headcanons

// with @badassbarmaid + first rough draft that we can change/RP details later!

Saiyan Saga

Tifa (24) won the world martial arts tournament after Goku, followed by Hercule (held while they were training for the Androids)

Nappa blows up East City, where Tifa’s bar was, also her family/friends who were visiting.

Tifa arrives to save Gohan from the Saibaman that attacks him (or later) then fights Nappa, being around Piccolo in power.

She later teams up with Krillin, Gohan and Piccolo, who get to know her while they wait for Goku.

Vegeta (knowing she’s a Saiyan or not) offers to spare Tifa’s life if she joins them.

When Piccolo sacrifices himself for Gohan, he also looks at Tifa in his dying moments, eyes asking her to protect Gohan in his place.

When Vegeta dodges the Spirit Bomb thrown by Krillin and it heads towards Gohan, Tifa deflects it towards Vegeta to land a direct hit.

Tifa can (instead of/with) Gohan, transform into a Great Ape with her tail (regrown)

Namek Saga

Tifa joins Bulma, Gohan and Krillin to Planet Namek, they all become good friends during the journey.

Tifa’s potential gets unlocked by Guru (after Krillin and Gohan), though it takes some time, becoming around as strong as Nail by the time Goku arrives.

Meanwhile Gohan, Krillin and Vegeta fight and are defeated by the Ginyu Force,

Goku defeats Recoome and Burter, Vegeta kills them as Tifa arrives to help.

Jeice brings back Captain Ginyu, and the 3 Saiyans seem to team up, until Vegeta leaves for his own goals

Worried about Vegeta going after Gohan/Krillin, Goku asks Tifa to follow them.

Goku gets body swapped by Ginyu but struggles against Gohan/Krillin when they fight.

Tifa who even with Jeice, manages to defeat him though was close to death from a sneak attack, Vegeta who had been watching secretly, finishes Jeice off and then puts Tifa in a rejuvenation chamber for her to recover and save her life.

Frieza Fight

While Vegeta takes a nap, Tifa helps carry the dragon balls and witnesses the Namekian dragon being summoned and wishes granted before Frieza arrives.

She teams up with Krillin, Gohan and Vegete fighting against Frieza's second form until Piccolo arrives.

Vegeta almost kills Tifa so she can become stronger (from Saiyan zenkai) after being healed by Dende

About to die from Frieza’s 4th/true form, Vegeta begs Tifa to save their Saiyan race, and relay his last words to Goku, seeing him arrive in his final moments.

“Freiza, he made me who I am. Don’t let him do it, to anyone else! Whatever it takes, he must be stopped, by a Saiyan!”

Goku after becoming a Super Saiyan, tells Tifa with Gohan to take Piccolo back to his ship and find Bulma, they are later all teleported to Earth from a wish.

Android Saga

Future Gohan (instead of Future Trunks) arrives to kill Frieza and King Cold before warning everyone about the Androids, prompting them to train for the next 3 years

Trunks is instead Bulma and Yamcha’s (human) son

in the first year, Tifa transforms into a Super Saiyan from a movie villain (Frieza’s brother Cooler) while Vegeta is out in space training

Tifa is about to take over for Goku (defeated by Android 19) when Vegeta arrives

Vegeta is shocked (and secretly proud) when Tifa transforms into a Super Saiyan to catch up to him while they look for Android 20 / Dr Gero’s lab

Vegeta refuses any help even when he is being outclassed by Android 18, and when Tifa and the others rush in to help, Android 17 steps in to defeat them.

Cell Saga

Vegeta trains with Tifa in the HBTC, both attaining power beyond a Super Saiyan

Vegeta fights Tifa so Cell can absorb 18 and reach his perfect form

after Vegeta is defeated by Perfect Cell, Tifa fights him but cannot match his new power

Gohan/Goku show/teach Tifa their way of Super Saiyan training in the HBTC

Tifa fights her own Cell Junior during the Cell Games

A revived Cell kills Tifa (in place of Future Trunks), causing Vegeta to snap and attack Cell in a rage. It is then that he truly admits and accepts his feelings for her.

(cc) Cell: “Your Tifa? Don’t be ridiculous, Prince. There is no room for love with all that pride of yours, I should know. I’ll do you a favour though, and send you right to her in the afterlife!”

Buu Saga

Vegeta and Tifa have a daughter named Sela (pun on celery) around Goten’s age

turned into Majin Vegeta by Babidi and forced to fight Tifa, Vegeta is brought back to his senses after seeing his daughter’s tears.

Vegeta (putting his pride aside) fights alongside Tifa against Kid Buu, but their teamwork is still not enough to finish Buu off, leading to the plan to use the Spirit Bomb.

Gohan hated what his life had become. He was in a never ending battle with the two androids that brought chaos and destruction to his world. With no father or master Piccolo to guide him through, he was truly alone. Sure, he had Trunks but he wasn't strong enough to fight them off on his own. Gohan barely managed the murdering androids and it didn't help that Trunks wanted to recklessly throw himself in the fights as well. Sure, Trunks had the potential to be a great warrior, but he didn't have the rage.

Gohan felt the safest when he was sleeping. Most the time it was in vacant hotel rooms and not his own bed. He knew his mom would be a screaming mess and would most likely tell him to stop fighting the androids since she couldn't bare to lose anymore than what she had already lost.

As Gohan slept in the mattress of the hotel room, he skims through the channels of the flat screen TV, hoping to find out where the androids were currently located. None of the channels revealed that to him, and that's how the rest of the days carried on. No androids outside causing the hell on earth they usually did. No explosions going off in certain parts of the world. Everything was surprisingly peachy, and that frightened Gohan.

Android Seventeen had everything he could possibly want and no one in the world could stop him. Well, technically one could, if Seventeen didn't put up so much of a fight or wasn't programmed to destroy like his sister. Whenever he saw that annoying hybrid saiyan with short locks of black hair, that fierce look in his eye, and his muscular built . . . He knew the day was going to be good. Not because Android Seventeen found him attractive, no. It was because out of all the stupid survivors in this world, Gohan was the only one who could put up a decent enough fight against Seventeen.

Of course, this was the main reason Seventeen kept him alive, because he loved to fight him. He wasn't about to let his sister in on his little secret.

"Hey, Seventeen." His sister tugs him out of his thoughts as Seventeen sits up properly from having his body slouched forward.

"Yeah?"

"Do you think I should make Gohan my new toy?" Eighteen asks, grinning at the thought of making Gohan hers. He had such a nice body, and it'd be a shame to let it go to waste. She was surprised Gohan hadn't gotten off on some sexual quest to have a harem so they would produce children to become the future fighters against the androids. Not that any of them would ever win.

Seventeen nearly flinches at her words, but kept his composure so that she wouldn't start questioning him. He turned to look her as eyes match up with each other. "Do you want me to be honest, Eighteen?" He finally says.

Eighteen stares back at him. "Duh, why do you think I mentioned it?"

Good, that meant that Eighteen would consider his opinion to a measure. Seventeen breaks his gaze away from his sister as he inhales sharply. "No, I don't think you should make Gohan your new toy. You already have like, two guys in that spot. You don't need the hybrid of all people as your pet." Seventeen declares.

Eighteen's eyes widen as she couldn't believe what he was saying! Who was he to tell her what she shouldn't do! He didn't even genuinely care in the first place! "Yeah? And why shouldn't he be my new play thing?" She asks, the anger in her voice slowly rising up.

Seventeen turns to look at her again and says, "Think about it, Eighteen. You shack up the hybrid and then he'll start thinking you owe him something." He assures her.

"Okay? He's getting my body in return, I think that's something he's owed." She argues back.

"No, what I mean is . . . He's the hero. He's not just going to want sex, he's going to want the guarantee of humanity being left alone now and for you to stop hurting them." He properly explains, since it seemed like his sister wasn't looking at the bigger picture.

She doesn't say anything after that, because he was right. And she didn't want Seventeen to know he was right. So instead, she just gazes down at the world below her.

"So, are you still going to do it?"

"No."

"Good." Seventeen says, as now an idea was formulating in his brain. He simply couldn't wait to strike up the deal to Gohan.

The morning after he spent it in a hotel room, Gohan went searching for the androids. He didn't like this pleasant silence at all and he was going to get to the bottom of this. Soaring through the skies with such speed, he casts his eyes downward, trying to see if he could spot either androids. It didn't help that they weren't blowing up a random building. Which now that he thought about it, sounded pretty fucked up in a sense.

"Are you looking for me?" A familiar voice that always held such amusement said.

Gohan whipped his body around to stare at the android who smirked at him. Those dangerous pair of icy blue eyes and the waves of his raven hair that reach at his shoulders. Unlike Eighteen, he wasn't one to change his clothing style.

"As a matter of fact I was." Gohan says with a grin. He then looks around him to see if he could find the other android. "Where's Eighteen?"

"She took a long vacation to Florence. She wants to live a double life as some supermodel. She said she was bored with killing and decided to live for once." Seventeen explains.

"You expect me to believe that?!" Gohan snaps.

"Believe what you want to believe, Gohan." Seventeen responds in a monotone voice before adding with a smile, and a different tone in his voice. "I could be changed just like her as well, with some convincing."

"Yeah right." Gohan rolls his eyes, about to fly off from this android.

"You have noticed, haven't you? I haven't been on a rampage in a while. I've stopped my evil ways." Seventeen says, not wanting Gohan to leave.

"Get to the point." Gohan says in annoyance.

"My, my. Aren't you always impatient?" Seventeen's smirk widened. "I'll stop with the killing and leave your precious planet alone if you agree to make a deal with me: in exchange for peace and to stop with the madness, you let me have sex with you. We casually do this every other day with no strings attached."

Gohan's eyes widen as he couldn't believe the words that were coming out of the Android's mouth. He was in a state of shock as his jaw drops. "Are you fucking serious?"

Seventeen nods, "What? You think I'd joke about that? You don't have to give me an answer right away, just think about it." He says before turning to look at the clouds. "When you're ready to give me an answer, come to me and we'll see where it goes." Seventeen says, before soaring away, leaving Gohan extremely confused and shocked.

Gohan didn't go home after that nor did he go to any hotel. He decided camping in the wilderness was the best medicine for fixing his warped up head. His tent was already set up as a sleeping bag was cozy inside of it alongside a book and some other things he thought to bring along.

The fire cackles in front of him as he stares at the endless hues of red, orange, and yellow dancing within the flames. The warmth radiates off the flames as Gohan quickly stood up. The sound of owls hooting and crickets chirping through the night was music to his ears, and staring through the flames gave him the answer he needed to give the android.

As he stood up from sitting on the big log, he soars up to the sky, the moonlight and the stars being the only light provided. He finally made up his mind and knew what his answer was going to be. He slowly stood up on his feet and decides to take flight to the sky. He stares at the grand moon for a few moments as he knew the android wasn't too far away from him. Not after proposing a deal like that.

"Can't sleep?" The android Gohan wanted to see says a few feet away from him as the hybrid turns to face him. Gohan couldn't see it, but Android Seventeen had a small satchel around his waist, hiding to the side.

"I've thought about it, more than enough times."

"And? What's your answer?" Seventeen tries to sound not too anxious about his answer, but deep down this android was on the edge, wondering whether or not Gohan agreed to it or not.

"And I say, deal. For the sake of humanity and all of mankind." Gohan keeps his calm composure as he waits for the android to react.

Lapis' lips twitch upward in excitement as there is a wicked glint of excitement in his eyes. "Good choice, Gohan." He states as he then casts his eyes downward to where Gohan's campsite was. "Nice little place you got down there."

Gohan grins at Seventeen, allowing his voice to go deeper into a husk, "Yeah, I know. Would you like to come inside and keep me company in the tent?"

"I'd be more than delighted to be in your presence, hybrid." Seventeen declares, never breaking the staring contest he had with Gohan as they both descend to the ground at the same time.

Seventeen steps toward the taller hybrid as he attempts to throw his arms around him, only to have the hybrid head to the tent.

"Don't keep me waiting too long." Gohan says, diverting himself from the android and brushing open his tent before going in.

Seventeen's cheeks redden up with a radish red in embarrassment as he lowly grumbles. He half expected to start this off with a hug and a passionate kiss and allowed their sex to slowly come along. The idea of fucking in a tent didn't sound so bad. Seventeen takes a deep breath before proceeding to follow Gohan into the tent.

The hybrid was sitting on top of his sleeping bag, one arm thrown on his knee, the other propped up on the grass as he stares ahead at the android. His eyes were dark, and Seventeen could never read those eyes. He awkwardly shuffles over to the hybrid and sits close to Gohan. For a moment it's silence between them, until Gohan chose to speak, "So? Do you want to be the seme or do you want me to be the seme?"

Seventeen stays quiet, lingering on his thoughts for a little while, not because it was hard for him to choose but because he didn't think Gohan would let him choose. " . . . I want to be the seme." He finally responds, as Gohan nods, the shuffling of his sleeping bag is heard as Seventeen watches from the corner of his eye that the hybrid was laying down. Gohan didn't say anything afterward, and he didn't want to bark a command at the android for fear that he would call this deal off.

Deep down, Android Seventeen has always wanted this. Gohan at his mercy, and himself overpowering the hybrid saiyan. He stares down at Gohan who laid perfectly still, arms at his sides as his eyes gaze stays upward towards the top of his tent. Seventeen assumed it was going to be Gohan who was the nervous one, but it seemed as though it was him. With semi shaky fingers, he moves his satchel over and zips it open. First, the most important item was in there: the lube. Next, were toys and condoms which now that he thought about it, why the hell would he need these if the possibility of Gohan getting pregnant was impossible. Unless, Gohan didn't want Seventeen to cum inside of his ass, then Seventeen could see why these condoms were brought.

Seventeen clears his throat, moving his hands over to the navy belt that was at his waist. With gentle hands, the android works to get it off as Gohan's pants become loose. Gohan says, shoving the android closer so more of his member went inside his mouth. "That's better."

"For an uke, he seems to be more of a seme in this situation." Seventeen inwardly thought as he bobs his head back and forth, sucking off the hybrid as quick as he could, wanting to hear more of his groans escape his mouth. While he was doing this, Gohan was running his hands through the back of his hair, his breathing becoming rigid with the speed of Seventeen. It didn't take long for Gohan to groan out as he climaxes into Seventeen's mouth, the android happily indulging in it.

After Seventeen wipes himself clean with his sleeve, he rummages through his satchel to find the lube. Gohan had a feeling he knew what the android was looking for as he couldn't help but turn red.

Some thoughts on my last Gamefly rental, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

*Though most people are familiar with DBZ, especially the three main Sagas in this game, given how often they’re played out in games, I’ll put a spoiler warning here just in case. Also, I didn’t try out the DLC stories, yet, so this will just be about the base PS4 game with it’s current updates. I may buy the game and try those out in the future. I also say a lot about the game.

The game spans from the Saiyan Saga to the end of the Buu Saga(not counting DLC). Pretty much every important scene is played through, though a few parts are skimmed over or skipped, like:

Goku traveling Snake Way, his brief fall into Hell, and training with King Kai(shown a bit and mentioned but not playable)

Piccolo using Hellzone Grenade against Android 17(you can have him learn the move and do it yourself, though).

Future Trunks’ battle with Cell where he found out the speed-loss disadvantages of Super Saiyan Third Grade(that moment isn’t shown or mentioned, though he does still fight Cell in that form)

Vegito still attacking Super Buu after being turned into candy(which means we don’t get to see him beating Super Buu up as a high-speed jawbreaker). Also, Goku and Vegeta freeing everyone trapped inside Super Buu happens offscreen.

And possibly a few smaller moments. They aren’t too important in the long run, though, plus some were probably for better pacing or something.

There was some added stuff, too:

Several times, you’ll be able to meet, and occasionally do sidequests for, several older Dragon Ball characters, like Nam, Eighter and Launch.

A new fight for Goku against Kid Buu to end the main story before he launches the Super Spirit Bomb at him.

There's a fairly small amount of playable characters(who can also be put in a party as Support Members):

Future Trunks(Android/Cell Saga and Epilogue, only)

Gotenks(only in two battles against Super Buu)

Vegito(in one battle against Super Buu, which, considering how powerful Vegito is, is more of an epic beatdown than a fight)

Android 18

All characters, Main and Support Only, have a ‘Super Attack Skill Tree’ that you can use Z Orbs that you find/earn to give them new skills and attacks. What you can get increases based on the character’s level and story progress(example, you can’t get Super Saiyan 2 for Gohan until he unlocks it during the fight with Perfect Cell).

Throughout the game, you’ll collect ‘Soul Emblems’ to place onto several ‘Community Boards’ to increase various ingame bonuses, like more EXP or cooking benefits. You get Soul Emblems both from the main story and side quests. They can be leveled up with Gifts to increase the Community Level, giving more bonuses. This seems to be the best setup for all of the emblems that I found.

At campfires and at Goku’s House, you can make food from items/materials you have to give yourself a stat boost. And Chi-Chi can be asked to make the party Full Course Meals at her home, which also increase the Base Stats of whoever eats them.

A certain filler episode from the original series where Goku and Piccolo are forced to get a Driver's License also happens in this game(though unfortunately without the outfits they wore in said episode). After doing so, you unlock the ability to make cars and battle walkers from Bulma, as well as Time Attacks for both types of vehicles(which I didn’t do much of).

Like the first Budokai game, this one has story’s events shown in cutscenes, which the later ones just had them happen in dialogue to speed things along, probably. And they did a really good job of animated said scenes, matching the look and feel of the series VERY closely.

The flying also feels well done, and true to the series. Aside from flying normally, which is fairly slow, you can hit L3 to start flying faster, at the cost of your Ki slowly going down and not being able to sense Ki with R1. This is the best way to travel the the large maps. Goku and Gohan can also use the Flying Nimbus, though you can’t pick up items that you need to hit Circle while doing so. Also, ramming into weaker enemies while flying will defeat them instantly and give you EXP. It’s a bit hard to aim yourself at enemies correctly, sometimes, though.

Going underwater functions the same as flying, except with an air meter to keep an eye on. If it runs out, you get kicked back above where you entered the water as the only penalty. Take a peek down under whatever bodies of water you find; there’s always stuff to see and collect, depending on the map, especially on maps with oceans.

You can also dash on the ground by hitting L3, and unlike when flying, you can still sense Ki while doing so.

I feel like this game’s flying controls are about what it should feel like for a Superman game. Probably might need a few tweaks to fit more with that series, but this feels like a good base for that kind of game.

The game’s many maps are pretty large, with lots to see and explore, including towns, caves that you need to be a certain level to enter, materials to gather, fishing spots, and more. They include plenty of well known DBZ locations, insulting Kame House(and the ocean around it), West City and Capsule Corp., Korin’s Tower and Kami’s Lookout, and so on.

Floating around these maps are enemies you can fight. They grow in strength as you do/the story progresses. If you’re strong enough and are fast-flying when running into an enemy, you’ll defeat it and gain EXP right away.

Speaking of Korin’s Tower, you can eventually unlock the ability to grow Senzu Beans there, which fully heal you. Once they’re unlocked, they will gradually grow and can be collected from Korin, with a Senzu Bean icon appearing next to it on the World Map if there’s any available. He will hold up to 9 at once, so check back once in a while.

Fishing is pretty easy to do; just hit one of the face buttons(X, Triangle, Square and Circle) when the marker is in a marked area, then hot one again when the closing circle is within another marked circle(this might make more sense when you see it yourself). You’ll get items for cooking from fishing, and some sidequests need them, or just certain types of fish, to clear. An amusing detail when fishing is that Goku and Gohan, even when he’s a teenager, use a fake tail as a lure while Vegeta and Piccolo fish like normal people(I forgot to check and see what Future Trunks does, but probably the latter).

After clearing the Frieza Saga, you can collect the Dragon Balls on Earth during Intermissions. They give off a small orange slow when sensing for Ki, and you’ll hear a low humming sound when you’re close to one. You can get several different wishes from them, with three of them always being for Z Orbs, Zeni or Rare Material Items. Other wishes are reviving certain dead characters to fight them again, and can only be done once, unlike the three listed above. At first, you can only make 1 wish at a time, but as the game goes on, it gets upgraded to 2 then 3 wishes at once. After making a wish(s), you ‘ll need to wait 20 ingame minutes before the Dragon Balls can be found and used again. They seems to have a couple set locations on whatever map they end up on(two locations are west of Orange/Satan City, for example).

Speaking of Mr. Satan...I know that his actually Japanese stage name, but I always end up calling him Hercule due to hearing that for so many years(and just liking how that sounds better). Also, ‘Satan City’ just sounds really funny. XD

You probably won’t need to really grind in the base game; you should get enough experience from doing sidequests and story events to get by. Gohan especially; he ended up quite a few more levels than everyone else just from the story EXP alone, and his Unleashed Potential ‘form’ from Elder Kai makes him do quite a lot more damage. Also, gained experience is shared among all party members, even those not currently set to fight.

One of the sidequests you can do throughout the game is defeating ‘Villainous Enemies’, who are fairly strong, and are covered in a red aura. You should at least be at or around their level before fighting them, since you can’t run from fights in this game. It may be best to do them during Intermissions when you can select your party members, and bringing someone who can stun with Solar Flare(like Krillin), can be really helpful.

In the epilogue/postgame, in addition to being able to play as Future Trunks(talk to him outside of Capsule Corp.), you can also use his time machine to redo Boss fights, and do any sidequests you may have missed.

The game’s opening has the old opening for the show, ‘Cha-La-Head-Cha-La”, and this is the first time I really listened to it. It’s really good, and kind of reminds me of the opening to Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, too, for some reason.

There’s a few parts where there’s some nice attention to the series’ details:

At several story points when Saiyan characters are healed, like with Senzu Beans or the healing pod on Namek, they gain experience, while others, like Krillin, don’t get that bonus, which does make them, admittedly accurately, start lagging behind in strength.

If you use Ki Sense on Androids, and a certain researcher in Capsule Corp., you won’t see anything emitting from them.

If you have Piccolo and/or Android 18 in your party while eating a Full Course Meal from Chi-Chi, they won’t eat any of it. Saiyan characters(again, forgot to check Future Trunks) eat it ravenously(even Vegeta), while human party members eat normally.

Only Goku and Gohan can use the Flying Numbus.

These aren’t really important observations, but some events in the game made me think:

Did Piccolo destroying the Moon to stop Gohan’s Great Ape form have any effects on Earth? Or did nothing really happen?

How in the world did Supreme Kai and Babidi survive being so close to Majin Vegeta when he used Final Explosion while Piccolo and Krillin hightailed it out of there with Goten and Kid Trunks?

I noticed a possible(intentional) goof at the end. In the cutscene after beating Kid Buu and going back to Kami’s Lookout to reunite with everyone, Dende is a kid again for some reason. Apparently, both the original anime and manga made this goof too, so maybe it’s a nod to that? It is kind of jarring, though. XD

A couple technical issues I found were that sometimes when loading a map, and in some battles later on, the game would hang for a couple seconds, and one time it crashed while it was loading into an area after traveling to another. Thank goodness for autosave. Also, be careful using the stronger version of Goku’s Spirit Bomb attacks; it caused major lag for me a couple times.

This ended up being one of my favorite DBZ games that I’ve played, close runners up including

Budokai 3

Budokai Tenkaichi 2(mainly for just how many characters that one has, including most of the movies from around that time, outmatched by Budokai Tenkaichi 3, which I didn’t play)

Legacy of Goku 2(I didn’t get the chance to play Buu’s Fury back then)

It's been two years since you and Freeza became a couple. It's been a roller coaster, but not more so than your first experience with him. But you start to fill as if you two are drifting apart.
