WAIT NO IM THINKING ABOUT IT MORE WAIT PLEASE.
CASEY AND SAGA ARE CLEARLY BASED OFF MAX AND WINTERSON FROM MAX PAYNE 2 RIGHT LIKE THEY'RE KINDA ECHOES OF THAT EVEN IF THEY DIDN'T HAVE THAT GOOD OF FRIENDSHIP THEY WERE STILL PARTNERS. AND MAX'S NAME IS IN RELATION TO HIM YKNOW EXPERIENCING MAX PAIN AND THAT'S THE SAME WITH CASEY ITS A JOKE/RELATION TO HIM BEING A DETECTIVE. PLUS THE NAME VALERIE WINTERSON SOUNDS SIMILAR TO SAGA ANDERSON THEY LITERALLY BOTH END IN "SON".
IN MAX PAYNE 2 IT WAS IMPLIED THAT WINTERSON HAD A CRUSH ON MAX, BUT HE HAD NO CLUE AND HE WAS SO CERTAIN THAT HE WOULDN'T FIND LOVE AGAIN THAT SHE HAD GIVEN UP AND WAS NOW WITH VLAD. BUT SHE STILL CARED ABOUT MAX AND WAS HURT THAT HE CHOSE TO SIDE WITH MONA INSTEAD OF HER AND THAT SHE HAD TO GET RID OF HIM TO HELP VLAD.
AND SAGA HAS LIKE THREE MEMENTOS TO REMIND HER OF CASEY AND TWO TO REMIND HER OF LOGAN BUT THERES NOTHING FOR HER HUSBAND, EVEN THOUGH SHE'S CLEARLY SAID SHE LOVES HIM AND SHE VERY DEARLY CARES ABOUT FAMILY AND SAID SHE WAS DETERMINED TO NOT HAVE ANYMORE BROKEN RELATIONSHIPS AFTER WHAT HAPPENED WITH TOR AND HER MOM AND HER DAD BUT THERE'S NOTHING TO REMIND HER OF DAVID, NOT EVEN A FUCKING WEDDING PHOTO. AND SHE SAYS SHE WISHES ALAN HAD WRITTEN A ROMANCE STORY EVEN THOUGH HER HUSBAND IS ALL THE WAY BACK IN VIRGINIA.
SAM. SAM PLEASE WHAT DOES THIS FUCKING MEAN CAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN HANDLE WHAT IT IS THAT I THINK IT MEANS.

What a Night for a Knight!
Scooby Doo has meant a lot to me over the years and I always wanted to write my own version. And Scooby Doo is popular now so here it is! (Also, I decided to race bend the cast, making Daphne black, Shaggy (okay, I originally said that I was going to make him Latino, but I recently found out that his original actor Casey Kasem was Lebanese, and I've decided to make him Lebanese in his honor.) and Velma Indian bc I liked that idea. Fred is still white, though. I am also not going to take race-bending lightly. I am going to strive to incorporate ideas from different culture's into the gang's lives and have it be a part of them, not just write them with a different skin tone.)
_____________
The world was cold. The world was cold and dark and terrifying. But Shaggy wasn’t quite ready to think about that. It was much easier to focus on the movie that Scooby had made him watch.
“I can’t believe that you had to see Star: Dog Ranger of the North Woods twice!” Shaggy laughed, with no malice.
“Yeah!” Scooby laughed. Then he turned to Shaggy. “You okay, Raggy?”
“Still don’t think I’m ready to talk about it, Scoob.” Shaggy sighed.
Scooby nodded and nuzzled his friend. In turn he reached out and scratched at Scoob’s ears. The two laughed.
Then they heard a rustling from the bushes. Shaggy was froze, Scooby tensing up.
The dog growled at the bush, hoping to scare off whatever horrible monster was in it before it realized how scared its prey really was. It seemed to have worked, because the oh so horrifying monster in the bush hopped out and delightfully ribbitted at the two.
And Shaggy breathed out a sigh of relief. The danger had passed, (not that it had really been there in the first place but…) for them. Because Scooby, as sensible as he was, was still a dog. And a loud thunderous bark was the only warning the poor frog had before it was being chased through the bushes by a Great Dane, who was being chased by an exasperated Shaggy.
But the chase was cut short though, when Scooby lost the frog and skidded to a stop, Shaggy tripping over him, falling headfirst into the dirt. Shaggy pushed himself up off the ground, about to tease the dog when he noticed a pickup truck parked a little ways away.
“What the—?”
He started over to it, thinking maybe they had a flat or needed some help. He couldn’t quite see the driver, it was late and dark and the person inside was hidden comfortably in shadow.
“Like, is everything ok?”
“Raggy, I don’t think—“
That’s when the figure in the car began to move. But not the movement of a person getting out of a car, or starting awake, not the sound of the fabric of a shirt rubbing on the fabric of the carseat. The movement of a statue being shaken about, the sound of creaking metal upon creaking metal. Shaggy took a terrified step back, and then—
Then the head fell off. And Shaggy screamed.
____________
“Thanks a lot Velma.” Fred said as he slid out of the booth. “These study sessions have been great!”
Velma grabbed her bag. “Yeah, I think this test is gonna go okay.”
“Don’t jinx it.” Fred said quickly.
“Do you really believe in that?” Velma asked.
“Sure! I mean with all the weird stuff in town, something’s gotta be real, right?”
She looked like she was about to respond, when a scream pierced the night air. Loud, and hurt and scared. The two exchanged a single glance before taking off in the direction of the sound.
__________
Daphne walked briskly to the bus stop, her phone by her ear, imitating a conversation. She knew what she was doing was dangerous, she knew that she was being stupid, but she just couldn’t take it anymore.
What was supposed to have been a calm evening with her sisters had turned to a full on argument about what Daphne was going to do with her life. Maybe that was what was wrong with this town, Daphne thought.
Doctors considered who Daphne was going to marry as “important”, but the shockingly high rates of people run off the road from a “ghost truck” was just considered “old news”. When Daphne was going to finally get a boyfriend was interesting to a motorist, but the rumours about a giant worm eating racers was “unimportant” because “it’s not bothering me. Ever hear of live and let live?” Daphne grit her teeth just thinking about the injustice of it all.
That’s when she heard the scream. She started, and stared off into the night. Then she ran towards the scream. Someone was in danger, and Daphne would be damned if she ignored that like the rest of her family did.
__________
Daphne got there first. ‘There’ being the scene of a blue beat-up pick-up truck, with what looked like a decapitated man in the front seat, a shaggy-looking, lanky teen holding a knight’s helmet, face as pale as a ghost, and the biggest dog she had ever seen staring at her, looking like he was about to bark.
The teen dropped the helmet. “Like, I— I—, it wasn’t—.”
To make matters even worse two more teens came barreling through the bushes. Daphne vaguely recognized them, they must have gone to Crystal Cove High.
The four teens (and the shockingly huge Great Dane) stared at each other for a moment, frozen like a tableau vivant. Then the blond kid broke the silence.
“We heard a scream.”
The lanky teen, glanced between the others, and the van before shaking out a sentence. He told them of how he and his dog had been out for a walk and they saw the car. He said he thought it might need help, like with a flat tire or something, but when he came close… the teen whimpered slightly and gestured to the knight’s helmet on the ground.
The blond one, pulled out his phone. “I’m calling the police.”
If it was possible the teen looked even more terrified.
“Fred!” The orange clad girl beside him hissed. “Call the police? Who will do what exactly? Blame it on a ghost? Call it a cold case before they even get here? Arrest him?” She gestured to the lanky teen, who gulped fearfully.
“No one’s getting arrested.” Daphne said firmly.
She walked over to the truck and picked up the helmet, examining it. “I wonder who this creepy hunk of tin belongs to.”
“The name on the crate says, Jameson Hyde White; Professor of Archeology, London, England.” The blond teen - Fred - read off the wooden crate on the back of the truck.
“Hey, what’s this?” The other girl picked a piece of paper off the road. “It’s a delivery label that says ‘deliver to the Crystal Cove museum’! Someone must have been driving this thing over there.”
“But then, like, what happened to the driver?” The lanky teen asked.
The four looked at each other, uncertainly.
__________
They ended up putting the suit of armour back in it’s box and driving it to the museum themselves. The keys were still in the car and Fred had his license, so he drove, the girls by his side and the other teen and his dog choosing to sit with the suit. They had made introductions on the way. The girl with her hair dyed a bright red was Daphne Blake, the lanky teen called himself Shaggy, (no last name forthcoming) and the dog was Scoobert Doobert Doo - Scooby Doo for short.
Fred had seen Daphne around school a little bit - he was pretty sure she was in some of Velma’s advanced classes and on a lot of the sports teams (from what he heard from Gary and Ethan.) He thinks that he may have heard Principal Quinlan mention her once?
Shaggy and Scooby on the other hand, were complete mysteries. Fred could swear on his ascot that he had never seen the two in his whole life in Crystal Cove and they didnt look like tourists… Also what kind of tourists visit during fall?
He pushed the thoughts out of his mind. They had arrived.
The museum was dark, Fred really should have been expecting that. There was probably no one there.
“What now?” He turned to Velma.
“There’s still a car in the lot.” She pointed, “Someone must still be here.”
She opened the door and slid out, followed by Daphne. Shaggy and Scooby exited from the back and joined up with the girls. Fred got out last, casting a glance at the crate that held the knight. Nothing happened. Fred turned away, and ran to catch up with the others.
__________
Velma was right. There was still someone there. The museum curator, Mr. Wickles, along with the night guard and the janitor who helped Shaggy and Daphne carry the crate inside.
“Oh dear, oh dear.” Mr. Wickles said fretfully. “I suppose I should thank you for finding the Black Knight, but with Professor Hyde White’s mysterious disappearance and all, I wish you hadn’t.”
“Like, why’s that?” The teen - Shaggy - asked fearfully.
“Because of the legend.” He said dramatically.
“Legend?” Fred asked.
“Yes. The black knight is supposed to come alive when the moon is full.” The man told them.
(Velma thought he was laying it on a little thick.)
“Wait a minute. Isn’t the moon full tonight?” Fred gasped as Mr. Wickles walked away.
“Oh come on Fred, you don’t really believe this magic nonsense do you? There is no such thing as the supernatural.” Velma told him.
“Don’t you want to stick around a little though? Just to see if the legend is real?”
Velma would give her glasses to do that. But she needed to be sensible.
“It’s past closing hours. I don’t think Mr. Wickles is gonna want any more trouble.”
“Alright.” Fred sighed.
He turned to Daphne, “You wanna come with us to the bus stop? I can give you a ride back home from there if you want?”
Her eyes flickered to Velma. She tried to give what was supposed to be a comforting smile. “You’re driving me back too, right Fred?”
“Of course!”
“Okay, yeah, thanks.” Daphne nodded, walking towards them. The she paused and turned around.
“Shaggy, Scooby, you wanna come too?”
There was no one there.
__________
“Okay, so like, first off Mr. Wicks or whatever his name is, is like, a liar.” Shaggy told Scooby. “There was like, no magic in that hunk of tin.”
“Uh-huh.” Scooby nodded. He hadn’t felt anything from the suit either.
“But, there is like, something with this place. It’s not just me, right?” Shaggy turned to his friend.
“Nuh-uh.” Scoob shook his head.
“Great. So let’s like, find out what it is, make sure it’s not hurting anyone and then like, get out of here.” Shaggy glanced about.
Scooby paused. “But what about them?”
“Hm?” Shaggy turned around. “Like, the other kids? I mean, they’re great and all for helping us, but they don’t have magic. I can’t just like, drag them into this. I know it’s scary, I’m terrified, but like, if anyone catches wind of magic from here they might come looking. And I think it would be best if we kept a low profile for now. Okay Scoob?”
Scooby hesitated. Then he nodded. “Okay, Raggy.”
They walked a little further when Shaggy stopped abruptly.
“Hey, get a load of this.” Shaggy pointed to an empty space on the wall, surrounded by not-empty spaces. “Shouldn’t there be, like, a painting here or something?”
“Uh, Raggy?”
“Yeah?”
Shaggy turned around. Face to face with the black knight.
__________
“Where’d they go?” Fred asked, moving down a hallway.
“Maybe they left without us?” Daphne suggested.
“Maybe.” Velma hummed. “Or maybe there’s something more to this than meets the eye. What were those two really doing with that suit of armour?”
Daphne frowned. “They seemed pretty scared.”
“They were laying it on a little thick if you ask me.” Fred nodded.
“How can a dog “lay it on”?” Daphne demanded. “If I approached someone in a car to ask if they needed help and their head fell off and then it turned out that it wasn’t a person, but a suit of armour in the front seat of a pickup truck, then I’d probably be pretty creeped out too!”
“Then why would they just disappear?” Velma asked.
“Maybe because they had places to be? They didn’t want to hang around a creepy museum for any longer than they had too? They wanted to get as far away from that tin hunk as possible?”
“She got a point.” Fred agreed.
“She’s got a lot more than one.” Daphne retorted.
Velma frowned. “But—“
The three turned their attention to the sound of footsteps - running footsteps - and the teen and his dog materialized from the shadows.
“Like, gangway!” Shaggy called out.
“Wha-?“
Velma didn’t finish her sentence. Because from behind them, the Black Knight emerged. Sword in hand, it swung at Shaggy, and would have probably taken his head off if he hadn’t ducked. Fred didn’t hesitate to move as he grabbed a sword from another display on Rome or Camelot or something and swung at the Knight like he was trying to hit a fly.
And Fred was many things - but a swordsman was not one of them. But it was one of the things the Knight was. Which was why, when it raised its sword, ready to bring it down on Fred’s head, Velma’s legs locked and her breath hitched.
The sword was coming down, down, down, and Fred was right there, still, frozen, - then suddenly he wasn’t. A brown blur of fur tackled him out of the way and the Knight’s sword cracked the tile floor instead of her classmate’s skull. Scooby stood in front of Fred, teeth bared, growling at the Knight. But Velma could see he was shaking.
Daphne came at it from behind, grabbing onto it’s neck, trying to take it’s helmet off. Shaggy wrapped his arms around its legs sending the three tumbling down in a tangle of limbs. The thing in the suit let out a roar of rage.
That’s when Velma realized that they were standing under a “New Exhibit” Banner.
“Fred!” She cried and pointed to the banner.
His eyes sparked and he understood, rushing to one rope. Velma grabbed the other end of it and in a swift pull, the banner came down. Daphne and Shaggy removed themselves from the fray and the five of them ran.
__________
They stopped by the entrance to catch their breath. They were all panting and a little bruised, and scared out of their minds. Or at least Daphne was.
“Is everyone okay?” Fred asked. He was still holding a sword.
“Like, yeah.” Shaggy stuttered.
“I’m okay.” Velma nodded.
Scooby huffed in a way Daphne assumed was a ‘yes’.
“Minor scraped and bruises, but nothing serious.” Daphne told him. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah. Yeah, same here. Minor scrapes and bruises.” He reached over and pet Scooby on his head. “Probably would have had a lot worse though if it weren’t for Scooby here. Thanks buddy.”
Scooby’s tail went wild, and he stood up on his hind legs to lick Fred’s face. Fred laughed, scratching the dog behind his ears.
“Yeah, thanks.” Daphne said turning to the others. “Both of you.”
“Like, don’t mention it.”
“It was nothing.”
“But seriously. What the fuck was that?” Velma demanded.
“You think the legend is real?” Fred asked.
“No.” Shaggy said quickly.
They all turned to him.
“I mean, like, if - if it was really alive, wouldn’t it have like, attacked us when he brought it here?” Shaggy asked.
“You’ve got a point.” Velma nodded. “But then what was that thing?”
“Like, maybe it’s got something to do with that missing painting Scoob and I saw.” Shaggy mused.
“Missing painting?”
“Yeah.” Shaggy nodded, he started toward one hallway and motioned for them to follow. “Like, this way.”
Their footsteps echoed on the floor, their breathing was one of the few noises in the museum. Shaggy kept his hand on Scoob’s head, Fred kept readjusting his grip on the sword and Velma was hugging her self so hard Daphne wondered if she was hindering her blood circulation. But it wasn’t like Daphne wasn’t shaking either, or jumping at every small noise even if it was just her own footsteps.
“What?” Shaggy stopped, in front of a painting. “Like, I could have sworn…”
“It’s okay.” Fred told him. “It’s dark, we’re stressed…”
“Hey!” Velma gasped. “Is that.. blood?”
Daphne walked over and kneeled down. She shook her head. “It’s just paint,” she reassured her.
Scooby started down the hallway, and Daphne noticed that there was a whole trail of paint leading down the hall. Scooby stopped and looked back, almost like he was waiting for them to follow.
__________
Fred felt the sword in his hands. It was sort of comforting, made him feel like he wasn’t totally defenceless. Like he could still protect the others. He was the one who drove them to the museum, maybe if he had just suggested that they wait until the next day. Maybe the Knight wouldn’t have almost decapitated Shaggy. Maybe he wouldn’t have been frozen, staring at a silver blade, watching it come down on him.
Fred scratched at Scooby’s head, a ‘thank you’ for literally saving his life. The dog licked his hand in response.
Scooby stopped in front of a sarcophagus.
“The trail ends here.” Daphne frowned.
“Like, what now?” Shaggy gulped.
“Haven’t you ever seen a true crime documentary?” Velma asked.
She stepped forwards and opened the sarcophagus.
“A secret room!” She grinned triumphantly.
The room was messier than Fred’s. Papers and paint and supplies scattered every which way, barely any floor peeking through. And in the middle…
“Look at that!” Fred pointed. “Two paintings, exactly alike.”
“Not exactly…” Daphne frowned. “It looks like someone’s making a forgery of the painting…”
“And then like, replacing it so they can take the other one.” Shaggy finished.
“And no doubt a history professor would notice the difference.” Fred nodded.
“So he had to be taken out of the equation.” Velma added grimly.
“Now can we call the police?” Fred asked.
“Let’s go.” Daphne turned on her heel, then she gasped.
“What’s wrong?” Fred looked and… oh no.
The Black Knight.
__________
Scooby was quick, throwing a can of paint in the Knight’s face as they rushed out of the secret room. Fred, Daphne and Velma raced down one hallway while Shaggy and Scoob went down another. Part of Shaggy wanted the Knight to follow him and leave the others alone, the other part was terrified of that possibility. Okay, maybe that was a lie. All parts of him were terrified.
He took a deep breath and tried to summon something from inside him. He knew it was there, nestled safely under all the food and the fear that was kept within him. Because, even if the Knight was just some crook in a suit, Shaggy could use some real magic right now.
But nothing came out.
And the clanking footsteps were coming closer.
“C’mon Scoob.” Shaggy and Scooby took off, meeting up with the others as they entered the “Relics Room.”
The others jumped in an old tank, while he and Scoob hid in the seats of a plane. Shaggy didn’t dare to look as he heard the Knight enter the room. Scooby whined quietly.
“Hey, it’s gonna be okay buddy.” Shaggy lied, reaching a hand out to comfort his friend.
Scooby’s tail began to wag at that, which caused two things.
The Knight to notice them and walk over to the plane
The plane to turn on and start moving
The Knight yelled and started to run, the plane coming quickly after him. Its wings were ripped off as they left the “Relics Room” and Shaggy screamed for the second time that night. His heart was practically beating out of his chest, he couldn’t remember being more scared.
When Shaggy gained the courage to unfurl a little, he looked up to see that the plane was on a collision course. With the Black Knight. Surrounded by Easter Island heads, he had nowhere to run. No way to avoid the plane (if it could be called that anymore with the wings being ripped off and all) as it rammed into him.
Shaggy gripped his head, as the other’s ran over.
“Here,” Daphne offered him her hand as Fred helped Scooby get out of the plane.
Velma meanwhile was standing over by the crook. “Now let’s see who this Knight really is.”
She removed the helmet and lo, and behold, it was the curator: Mr. Wickles.
__________
Scooby watched as the man called “Sheriff Stone” handcuffed the Knight-not-Knight.
“Not bad.” He said. “I gotta hand it to you kids. This time. But next time leave the mystery solving to the adults.”
“Maybe if the adults actually solved crime we wouldn’t have to.” Velma muttered.
“What was that missy?”
“Nothing!” Velma smiled innocently.
The humans continued the conversation when Scooby noticed something, lying a little ways away. A shoe. He frowned, going to pick it up, when he noticed that the exhibit it was lying in front of only had one shoe. Pieces began to click together in his mind. The shoe, the paintings, the Professor.
He barked, - because he knew he shouldn’t talk in front of all these non-magic people - and the others came running. The Sheriff removed the cloak and mask to reveal -
“Professor Hyde White!”
After they freed the Professor, the man thanked them profusely.
“Especially you.” He said as he scratched at Scooby’s ears.
“Yeah, good job Scooby!”
“Way to go!”
“You did it buddy!”
Scooby “woofed” excitedly and looked at Shaggy. He could tell he was thinking the same thing. Maybe they should stick around for a little bit.
“Hey, uh, Professor. Are you gonna need this sword back or…?” Fred asked sheepishly.
“Keep it.” The man waved him off. “As a thank you for solving the mystery.”
“This’ll be something to see.” Velma laughed.

HEAD OVER HEELS
Pete Davidson x f/Reader
Masterlist ♡ Pete Davidson Masterlist ♡ Well, Shit! Masterlist
Just like all my other stories, this has not been proofread but please enjoy.
Gif does not belong to me.
This is set during the interview with Jimmy Kimmel, but my own take on what they talked about.
PETE'S POV:
Jimmy and I talked about my Netflix special and The King of Staten Island but I just know that he is wanting to talk about the "rumours" that have been floating around about me and I told him before hand that I am okay to talk about it all.
"So Pete, we have talked about your professional life and all the great things that have been going on there, but there have been stuff going around about your personal life that you said you would like to talk about." Jimmy said and I waited a few seconds to talk into my mic.
"Yeah Jimmy. People found out during my interview with Charlamagne that my best friend Y/N and I started to date."
"It was a very sweet story on how you two came together, but what shocked not only your fans but myself was that you said you were going to be a dad." Jimmy said.
As Jimmy said that, I looked off to my right and there out of site of the camera was the love of my life, sitting on our couch, quietly scrolling through her phone with her headphones on, listening to god knows what.
I couldn't stop the smile forming on my face as I turned back to look at the camera that is on my laptop
"Oh yeah, not many people knew about it as the two of us have tried to keep our relationship out of the public eye for so long, but we knew it would get out eventually. So we discussed for who knows how long when we would let the world know."
"But then after you let the news drop, it got real crazy in Staten Island is that correct?"
I took a few sips of my water that Y/N had placed on my desk before the start of the interview.
"It took a few days for it to get real crazy, and I wasn't even home when it started. I was with Mulaney and Y/N was out to lunch with my sister Casey and my mom. The paparazzi pretty much ambushed the three of them as they were coming out of the restaurant. Yelling stupid crap at them. Asking Y/N questions that were beyond rude and almost made her fall. My mom told me later on that one of the paparazzi kept asking the same question over and over again."
"And that question was Pete?" Jimmy wondered.
"If she got pregnant on purpose to keep me around!"
Jimmy was actually speechless.
I had to make sure my emotions were in check as I continued on.
"The three women in my life got to the car and my mom was driving. Y/N called me upset and explained to me what happened. I could hear my sister in the back ground trying to calm Y/N down."
"After that incident with the paparazzi, I didn't want Y/N to leave the house. I felt like she could be safe there but after a deep discussion, she was allowed out of the house as long as she had some one with her. "
"Many people might think that is you trying to control her."
I just shrugged at that. "Well they do not have to deal with a bunch of cameras in their personal space and asking personal questions Jimmy. If Y/N was not about 7 and half months pregnant at the time, I probably would of not been so crazy about wanting to protect her like I did."
"I also heard you got married Pete. Was this before or after the baby was born."
"Before. I already proposed to Y/N a few days after the Charlamagne interview and on one of my days off we were trying to plan this wedding, but the thing was we had no idea when we wanted to do this or where. We also had to plan around not only my schedule but Colson's and many other people I knew."
I took a few more sips of my water and continued on.
"I could see all the stress of not only of the birth of our child but the wedding planning was having on Y/N so I called Colson and a few of my buddies over while Y/N was out with my mom and told them my idea."
"What was the idea?"
"That me and Y/N just get married in the back yard. I already had the plan set in motion. Already had the Justice of the Peace payed for as well as having a food truck to make the food. Had my mom take Y/N out that day to go shopping."
"Wait a minute Pete. How did you know this would be okay with Y/N?"
"Well after a stressful day of wedding planning, and still not getting anywhere. Y/N just looked at me and said she would rather just get married in the back yard, with only the people that mattered. I said done and that we will have it next week and I know she didn't believe me."
"Y/N and my mom walked through the front door after a long day of shopping. I even had my mom take the two of them to get their hair and nails done. My mom told me she got Y/N in her dress by saying that I had a romantic evening planned"
I could feel myself get even more excited as I talked. "In the back yard we had our family and friends there, all sitting quietly. Well as quiet as anyone from Staten Island can be, and my gorgeous fianceé walked out the back door, and she was dressed in a simple beautiful dress that showed off her baby bump. The tears were falling down her face as she looked around, saw the justice of the peace and realized what was happening. I walked towards her and asked her to marry me, right then and there infront of our friends and family and all my bride could do was whisper was a soft yes."
I held up the wedding photo. "Y/N walked down the aisle by herself. My sister stood with Y/N and Colson stood with me and Colson's daughter was the flower girl. After we said our vows and had our first kiss as husband and wife. We danced and ate. I promised Y/N we could have another wedding when ever she wanted too. All Y/N told me was that this wedding was perfect and she did not want another one.".
"Did you have a honeymoon at least?"
"I rented one of the suites at the Hilton Garden Inn for a couple of days. Gotta remember she was almost 8 months pregnant at the time and we did not want to be too far away with how far along she was."
"How long after your wedding did the baby come?" Jimmy asked.
"About a week and half after the wedding. Y/N was complaining about how she was having Braxton Hick contractions for almost a full day, but we did not think any thing of it. That morning I woke up to Y/N eating some cereal on the couch with the bowl resting on her belly. It was a very cute sight to see. But anyways, I sadly had to be in the city to shoot that night for SNL and I thought about calling in because I was worried about Y/N."
"But she convinced you to go to work?"
"Jimmy, she did. She just kept repeating that everything was going to be fine and that she had her phone on her at all times. She was watching Casie as Colson was the guest host that night on SNL."
"The two of us text and talked to each other through out the day but then I had to put my phone away. It was probably not even 10 minutes into the show when Colson was trying to get my attention from the side of the set. I thought he was just messing with me and trying to make me break character but during the commercial break he told me that Casie called and that Y/N water had broke and that they are on the way to the hospital. Apparently she was not having Braxton Hicks at all and they were real contractions."
I looked over at Y/N as I heard some noise in the next room. I watched as she got up as quietly as possible to take care of the noise.
"You still with us Pete? Did you freeze?"
"I am still here Jimmy. Sorry about that. Anyways, by the time I got there with Colson, Casie was sitting in the waiting room with my mom and sister. Y/N mom was on the way but she lives out of State. My mom informed me that they were doing an emergency c-section as there was a uterine rupture."
"Oh my God Pete. That must of been scary."
"Jimmy, I have never been more scared in my life. I could feel myself start to crumble and the one person who pulls me out of those moments was having emergency surgery. I could feel myself falling to the ground but Colson picked me up. He took my head in hands and forced me to look at him. We both had tears in our eyes as he told me that I have to be strong, not only for Y/N but for our child. He kept repeating that to me until it finally stuck ."
"Machine Gun Kelly, not alot of people know this, is actually a nice guy."
"I am constantly saying that to people Jimmy. They don't know him, they have no idea who he truly is as person. He has been the biggest help not for only me but for Y/N. Like when the Surgeon came out and called for me, Colson was right beside me. The Surgeon informed me that because of the uterine rupture that they had to work fast but they were all safe and healthy. I was still crying but it was happy tears. I was allowed to see Y/N and when I walked in the room she was sleeping and I leaned down and kissed her head, quietly thanking her for bringing our children into the world and that she was okay."
"Children?"
I couldn't not stop the smile at all. "I am the proud father of twins. Come here say hello Y/N."
Y/N sat in the chair that I placed beside me and fixed the camera so it showed all four of us. I took my son out of her arms and made him wave at the camera.
"This is handsome guy is Scott Matthew Davidson in honour of my father and the pretty girl in Y/N arms is Julianna Amy Davidson."
Jimmy started to ask Y/N questions but I was not paying attention to him now.
I couldn't help but look at the woman who as has given me everything I wanted in life. I never thought I would fall head over heels for someone but here we are. Every single day I seem to fall more and more in love with her.
I wrapped one arm around her shoulders, being careful of our children and I kiss her temple, not caring that millions of people are watching.

Old Flame, First Love - (Tierna Davidson x reader)
"Alright stop it" Casey says as she grabs my phone out of my hand. "Hey!" I whine trying to grab the phone out of her hand. But Casey shakes her head and moves my phone out of reach, "No I let you mope but I am not letting you stare at pictures of your ex in the build up to to Valentine's day".
I just huff and play with my fingers not looking at her. She just sighs as she sits next to me, "Look I know your upset. Everyone is after a breakup. But you can't keep pining after her. Your an incredible person T and she majorly fucked up because she lost an amazing person breaking up with you".
I smile at her softly leaning into her, "Thanks Case". She throws an arm around me giving me a quick hug, "Anytime T. Now c'mon a few of us are checking out this bakery whereby wanna come? Some baked goodies may help you feel better?" I smile, "Yeah just let me grab my stuff". We quickly grabbed our stuff before meeting some of the team down in the lobby. "We all set?" Alyssa asks as the the two of us walk towards the group. We nod before we start the walk.
You could see Casey trying to distract me from all the conversation of Valentine's Day as well as all the decorations in the passing stores. And while I did appreciate her effort it didn't seem to work.
"Is this it?" Julie asks as we come to a stop in front of a small colourful store. Ali checks her phone before nodding, "Yup this is it". I couldn't help but tilt my head at the sign. For some reason it sounded familiar. I just couldn't place it. "Cookie bro?" Casey sniggers looking at the sign. Ali shrugs, "They're huge here. They have really good reviews". "They can call themselves whatever they want as long as they're good" Ash shrugs.
The rest of us nod before entering the store. The store was fairly simple with a few tables which were all filled with what could only be described as extremely happy customers. There was a large display case filled with mouth watering goodies. The was a large section of cookie as well as cupcakes, donuts and so much more. "Damn these look good" Julie mumbles licking her lips. "I kinda want a bit of everything" Ali nods as her eyes dart from treat to treat.
I couldn't help but furrow my eyebrows as I look at the display case. Why did these look so familiar?" But it quickly came to me when I hear a voice coming from behind the counter that it suddenly hits me.
"Hello! Welcome to Cookie Bros! How can I-"
But she immediately stops and drops a bag of cookies on the counter staring at us, in particular me, wide eyed. I could see the girls tilt their head at her but I bite the inside of my cheek.
"Y/n?"
The girls looked between the two of us watching to see both of our reactions. I couldn't help but smile as I see that even after all these years she still did the thing where she bites her lip as she drums her fingers against the counter while she thinks. She then just gave me a weak smile picking up the bag she dropped and putting them to the side, "Hey T".
Julie looks between the two of us, "You know each other?" I bite my lip as Y/n just rubs the back of her neck sheepishly, "Uh yeah we go way back. All the way back to when T wanted to be an astronaut". I only nod before an awkward silence falls between us.
Almost as if we suddenly remembered that we weren't alone she clears her throat before tearing her eyes away away from me as I shuffle on my feet finding my shoes very interesting. "So what can I do for you all?" She asks smoothing out her apron which was covered in flour and other ingredients. "Well what do you have?" Ali asks peering through the display case.
Y/n's nervous persona just seemed to be wiped away as a smile spreads across her face as she moves behind the display case, "Well we have a big selection. Our main speciality's are cookies as the name suggests but we also do some delicious cupcakes and donuts if they tickle your fancy?" She opens the display case and pulls out a few different cookies and puts them on a tray pushing them towards us. All the girls pick a cookie and try it and their reaction was almost instantaneous.
"Oh my God! Bitch this is so good!" Ash exclaims as the rest hum in agreement. I'm about to pick one from the tray when a cookie is held in front of me wrapped in a napkin. I see Y/n standing there holding the red cookie out to me rubbing her head sheepishly.
I chuckle as I take the cookie from her, "It's good to see some things don't change". As I take a bite of the cookie I can't help but moan in delight as the familiar taste of red velvet fills my mouth. Y/n snorts, "Good to see you still have a sweet tooth. You always seemed to have a thing for my red velvet. Ironically".
Once again we both make eye contact before looking away with a light blush on our faces. I could see Casey raise an eyebrow at me before turning to Y/n, "This is amazing. What is it?"
Once again she clears her throat the blush dying down a bit, "That would be my s'more cookie". She starts pointing from one cookie to the next, "We do loads of different flavours. Oreo, Reese's chocolate, Aero Mint, Golden Swirl. We also have some special ones for Valentine's if your interested?"
"Is there a way to buy them all without getting into trouble with Dawn?" Ash asked licking her lips.
The others drift along the big display trying to decide what ones to pick out while I moved to the counter where Y/n was moving around stuff. "So you opened up your bakery just like you always wanted". She nods, "With a little help from my grandparents yeah". I bite the corner of my lip, "And your parents?" She gives me a weak smile, "Still the same homophobic assholes who call me once a month telling me they found a good husband for me to marry".
I put my hand on hers stopping her from moving stuff around the counter making her look after me, "I'm sorry Y/n/n". Her eyes focus on our hands before she sighs running her hand over her head smoothing out the stray fly aways away from her face, "It's okay. It hurt. A lot. But it's a lot better at my grandparents. They were a bit awkward at the start but they came around to it and they still love me so I'm happy". She chuckles lightly, "You should have seen my parent's face when I told them not only was I dropping out of college but I was also gay. I honestly thought they were about to have an aneurysm there and then".
I couldn't help but laugh as I picture it, "Yeah they were never the most open minded". She nods, "Yeah..." It was quiet for a bit as she just moved her thumb over the back of my hand making me squeeze her hand lightly. "It's good to see you doing so good" I whisper. I could see her suck in the side of her cheek biting the inside of it, another thing she has kept from childhood, "Well it's like you said, the world keeps spinning even if you don't want it too". I couldn't hold back the wince as I remember the last conversation we had before I left for college, "Y/n..."
But she quickly shakes her head, "It's okay T. You don't owe me anything...I wish it could have just ended differently I guess". I didn't even know what to say after that. What could I even say after that?
But I didn't even get the chance as the girls walk back over to us. I step back as they all tell Y/n what orders they wanted. I wait as Y/n boxes up all their orders and they pay. Once they're all done we start heading for the door before I'm called back, "Hey T!"
I turn to see Y/n holding up a box for me, "Some of your favorites and a few extra for your teammates". I take the box from her with a smile as our fingers brush lightly, "Thanks Y/n/n". She just returns the smile, "Anything for my favorite taste tester. I-it was good seeing you again T". I smile softly at the girl, "Yeah you too". She nods slowly before disappearing back behind the counter leaving me to leave with the girls.
We have barely stepped out of the store when all the girls turned to me, "What?" Casey smirks at me, "What was that?" I try to shrug it off, "What was what?" Julie rolls her eyes, "What was up between you and the bakery girl back there?" I shrug not looking any of them directly in the eye, "She's just somebody I knew a long time ago". Ali scoffed, "Looked a bit more than someone you just knew". Casey nods before turning to me, "Did you use to date?"
I lick my lips, "Not exactly..." I could feel everyone's eyes on me as I sighed, "We were best friends. We had a....thing? Between us for senior year but it never went anywhere". "Why not?" Julie asks tilting her head at me. I start to twist the ring on my finger around, "We....look we were...we were both heading for different colleges. I didn't think it was going to work out. It just wasn't going to work between us".
Casey raises an eyebrow at me, "Why do I feel there's more?" I sigh again, "She was the first girl I liked. Practically the reason I realised I was gay".
The group stopped and looked at me. "Woah" Ali mumbles, "that's pretty heavy". I nod, "Yeah". "Well it's obvious that she still has feelings for you" Alyssa comments earning nods of agreement from the others.
But I quickly shut it down, "No. There's no way she still likes me". Casey gives me a look, "T anyone with eyes could see she is still interested in you". "Trust me there's no way she likes me after how I left it". But before they could question me further we step into the lobby only to be seen by Kelley and Sonnett who immediately lock on the bakery boxes.
"Oh what did you get!" Sonnet asks trying to look into the box. Before I could ever say anything Kelley already snatches one out of the box, "Hey!" She pouts at me, "Please T. Cardinals forever..." I sigh, "Fine but don't touch the red velvet ones". Kelley and Sonnet both shove a cookie in their mouths and moan in delight. "These are so good! Where did you get them?" Kelley asks trying to go for another before I pull the box out of her reach.
Julie smirks, "Ask Tierna. She'll probably get you some free seeing as she knows the owner". But of course Kelley and Sonnet catch the teasing under tone and grin wildly at the redhead defender who narrows her eyes at her red stars teammate.
"Ohhhh. Baby T have a crushhhhhhh" Sonnett grins. Kelley wiggles her eyebrows at me, "Did T find someone to be her valentine?" I blush and shove past them, "Shut up". As I went back to my room one thing was for sure.
AJ was definitely no longer on my mind
............
"Happy Valentine's Day!"
Tierna plastered on a fake smile as she watches all the girls with their partners. As a surprise Vlatko had all the girls partners flown in to celebrate Valentine's Day. He had sent me an apologetic smile which I only shrugged off returning it with a smile. I slumped back in my chair playing around on my phone.
Just when I think it couldn't get worst Alyssa nudges my side.
"Delivery for Valtko?"
I gasp as my head snaps up at the voice. Only to be met with the familiar y/e/c orbs. She was standing by the door carrying several boxes donned in her casual clothes with her jeans a muscle tee and her trademark plait shirt. But my gaze is pulled away by Sonnett.
"That's who Tierna was talking about?" Sonnet chokes out. Lindsey lets out a low whistle looking Y/n up and down as I glare at the two blondes. "Well done Baby T" Kelley mumbles watching as Y/n sets down the boxes only to be smacked in the back of the head by her girlfriend.
They were right. Y/n looked great. Back when they were younger she was more slim and skinny. But now she was taller and a lot more built. It seemed that carrying heavy bags of flour did wonders for Y/n upper body. The girl looked like she could have been fighting in the UFC for Christ's sake. Which made it kinda funny to see her stand there awkwardly not knowing what to do.
"Hey Y/n!" Casey shouted waving her over. "What are you doing?" I mutter as Y/n makes her way over to the table scratching her head, "Uh hey again". I smile at her, "Hey Y/n". She shuffles on her feet, "Uh I delivered a bunch of Valentine's treats. I guess Valtko ordered them after he heard you guys talking about them yesterday". "You made these?" Kelley's girlfriend asks holding up a cookie which had melted chocolate on the top with sprinkles and the little love hearts on top. Y/n nods shyly. "These are awesome!" Kelley smiles at the young baker. Y/n blushes as the team and their partners voices their agreements, "I-its nothing really".
"Why don't you join us? I'm sure Tierna would enjoy the company" Julie asks from her seat beside her husband. Y/n bites her lip, "I-I wouldn't want to impose. Where's your girlfriend?" Now it's my turn to bite my lip, "We broke up...."
Her eyes widen, "O-oh I'm sorry. I didn't know. I didn't mean to..."
But I shake my head with a small smile, "It's fine wanna sit?" She slowly sits in the only chair available which is the one beside me. Conversation flowed around the table. Except for between us. Neither of us really knew how to start a conversation between us. But of course my teammates caught on and included us into their conversation helping us to at least communicate between each other.
But it was when Kelley suggested Couple games that I turned to Y/n, "Wanna go for a walk?" She nodded and we both fled from the meal room and away would could have only been a horrible attempt to deveal into our past and walk to the small garden at the back of the hotel.
We walked quietly for a bit before I stopped and turned to the baker, "I never got to apologise to you..." She just shrugs though, "You have nothing to apologise for". I shake my head, "I do".
I take a deep breath, "I-I'm sorry. I'm sorry for how I handled things between us. It wasn't fair on you. I hope you know I only wanted you to be happy". She scoffs kicking a small stone with the toe of her shoe, "That's rich". I study her side profile as she stare in front of her, "For someone who wanted me to be happy, you really didn't take my feelings into account". She stops and looks at me fully, "I know we were both still figuring things out at the start and that was fine. But the more time that passed the more certain I was about my feelings for you. But you were still figuring it out and that was okay cause I was willing to wait for you. All the sneaking around and hiding it from everyone that was okay because I had you..."
"I waited the entire Senior year not wanting to push you but being happy to have a part of you. I was okay with all of it. What I wasn't okay about was the fact you didn't even give us a chance..." I pursue my lips as she continued, "As soon as college rolled around we broke up. Well I suppose we didn't seeing as we didn't even start". It was now I could see tears welling up in her eyes, "You gave up on us before we even had even begun".
I shrug helplessly, "You were right. You had waited for me for so long and I still wasn't sure but by the time I had figured everything out....it was too late. We were heading off to college, on the other side of the country from each other. I just couldn't ask you to wait any longer for me....I didn't want to risk losing you so I thought it would be better to end it there. And just let you forget about me".
She just scoffs again, "You really thought I would just forget about you?" Her lips part I'm disbelief, "You were the first girl I had ever liked...My first Love". She shakes her head at me, "It's not that easy T".
"I didn't want to have these feelings at first either. They're scary. But they're scary because they're exciting. And I get it, the fear of letting someone in, getting close to somebody and just not working out. I was terrified but I was willing to take that chance for you. I was willing to accept that fear for you". She threw her hands up, "Instead you left me brokenhearted. The one person I thought would never hurt me, hurt me the most".
I bite my lip trying to ward off the tears, "It was only after I left you that I realise what I had truly done. How badly I had screwed up. But I couldn't go back, not after what I had done to you. I tried to convince myself that I was doing it for us to save us from hurting each other in the future but what I ended up doing was so much worst. All because I didn't want to admit that I was in love with you".
Both of us stood there with tears streaming down our faces. I licked my lips stepping towards her moving my hands up to her face slowly. Just like his we use to when we were younger. She leaned into my hand but with a pained expression on her face almost as if my touch hurt her. "Please don't" she croaks out, "don't give me false hope. It'll only hurt more". But I shake my head gently, "I won't. I'm not". She looked straight into my eyes, "Promise me. Promise me you won't leave again". I lean my forehead against hers, "I Promise. I promise I won't". My eyes flicker down to her lips and back up to her eyes. I try to find any bit of hesitance or doubt but I don't find any. I slowly start to lean in giving her enough time to pull away. But she doesn't and our lips meet. Her hands go to my waist as my hands cup her face trying to show how sorry I was through the kiss.
The only reason I pulled away was due to lack of oxygen. But when I opened my eyes I couldn't help but giggle as I see her eyes still closed as her chest heaved with breaths. I look around us until I land on a patch of flowers. I try to walk over to them but Y/n's grip tightens as her eyes flutter silently begging not to go.
But I just chuckle and kiss her cheek giving her a reassuring smile before slipping out of her arms. I pluck a flower from the patch and turn to her. "I know I can't take back what I did. But can we at least start over?" I can see her bite the corner of her lip before a soft smile spreads across her face, "Only if you'll be my valentine?" I grin and nod, "Deal". She takes the flower gingerly from my hand before pulling me in by the waist and kissing me again. I yelp before smiling into the kiss. When she pulled back she kissed my forehead, "Happy Valentine's Red velvet". I chuckle at the old nickname after my favorite of her creations.
"Happy Valentine's day Chocolate Chip".
Hey guys!!! I know this is late but it was longer than the other one and....yeah? But it's done now so yeah.... honestly I had another idea but I might leave it for a while and tweak it a bit. I know this isn't the best but nowadays I'm running on fumes. Anyways I hope you enjoy. Until next time, bye!!!

well, here we are! june basically flew by and it was a little rough, but we’re back with some long recs on cool things i’ve read/listened to/watched, and i’m about to force everyone to sit down and listen to my sleepover-esque ted talk in which i give unwarranted and unasked for rec lists. so here we go!
kdrama:
while you were sleeping
Tumblr media
okay, so i tried to watch this kdrama when it came out in like...2017, i think? but for some reason, i wasn’t able to get past the first episode. i don’t really know why? because it’s so beautifully shot, and i super love the premise, which is basically this girl and this guy are somehow able to see things that are going to happen in the future...but only in their dreams. this whole kdrama really handled the plot super well--each episode honestly felt like a movie in itself, and the filming was just stunning, and i think this has to be one of the most visual kdramas i’ve ever seen. each character is also super interesting and complex on their own, and i really loved seeing such a strong cast of characters interact with each other in this world.
i think the only slight downside of this kdrama was that i couldn’t really get invested in the romance? i’m not quite sure why--i found both lead actors’ performances wonderful, and don’t get me wrong, i did think they were cute together as the drama went on, but i still couldn’t find myself buying into the romance until maybe relatively late in the drama (like...ep 11 or so? ep 16 was honestly when i realized that awww, wait, they’re actually super cute). but then again, i feel like the writers weren’t really prioritizing the romance either--i think they really wanted us to think about the beauty of dreams and redemption and how everyone can touch another person’s life in some significant way, so i can’t really be mad about it!
but anyways, overall i really enjoyed this kdrama and watched it all a lot faster than i thought i would! SOLID music, beautiful cinematography, good acting, mostly good writing, and some really memorable characters! def. a must-watch if you love suspense, aesthetics, and some wonderful characters.
the ghost detective
Tumblr media
i’m someone who doesn’t like horror or scary things at all, but i was so intrigued by the plot and whatever material i saw on tumblr, and...of course, choi daniel, lee joo young, lee ji ah, and park eun bin. honestly, this is just a really wonderful and really underrated cast, and they really all brought out their a-game for this 32-episode supernatural / thriller / horror drama. basically, this kdrama follows the story of a young woman who’s trying to figure out who murdered her younger sister...and of course, there’s something supernatural going on.
honestly, this kdrama was such a ride. i loved the crime-solving aspect of it, and i was really in love with the interactions between all the characters, esp. that of eun bin and daniel’s characters. (guys...they’re so ride and die for each other. there’s also so much yearning. so much yearning in this kdrama, it just about killed me--)
the villain was absolutely, appropriately, elegantly creepy, and like...scary beyond belief. basically, the villain (lee ji ah’s character) feeds her victims these harmful thoughts and ultimately get them to kill themselves. it’s sad and haunting, especially when you see that the victims tell their victims “don’t listen to the bad things. try only to listen to the good things”. and...yeah. themes of how to handle all of these bad feelings inside of you really came through in this kdrama, and there were a lot of themes of suicide and the kind of rage and sadness that comes with that. (also! if you’re a fan of lots of angsty/whumpy situations....this kdrama definitely does not hold back with all of your fave whump/angst tropes! literally! every! episode! i! had! to! lie! down! because! too! powerful!)
school 2013
Tumblr media
(aww, look at this precious cast…as though they didn’t all make me ugly cry at least five times—)
yeah, yeah, yeah, i’ve talked about this kdrama ad nauseum, and i know i watched it last month, but as i was studying for the lsat, i really, really, really needed some comfort. most notably comfort re: studying life, academics, how difficult it is to study but also be uncertain of your dreams…and if you are certain of your dreams, how that sometimes requires studying but that just makes life all the more overwhelming…can you tell i’ve been thinking about this a lot
i’m not going to ramble more about this kdrama considering i already have done so multiple times, but i enjoyed this rewatch and honestly,,,my love for this show has just grown even more. there’s a good reason why people consider this a comfort kdrama, because. i consider myself deeply comforted. also, i’ve been listening to the ost for the whole month. it’s become a problem. but sometimes. sometimes you need to listen to songs that feel like someone’s patting you on the head and telling you don’t give up, set down your burdens, don’t think you’re alone and dream whatever you want to dream, go wherever you want to go. i’ll stop talking now, but god. when i say that i think everyone who has ever felt incredibly tired by work or school and just wished for someone to give them a big hug either then or now...god. this is just one of those kdramas that i think honestly touched so many people’s lives, and i’m very grateful for the cast and crew and writers for ever bringing this story to life. :’) (god, okay, now i’ll stop talking before i make myself cry i’m fine this is fine)
your honor
Tumblr media
so, i watched this kdrama thinking that it would be light and funny given that yoon shi yoon is the main male lead, but boy was i wrong--don’t be fooled by these happy little faces, this kdrama is heavy. this kdrama is about a young man (with a criminal record) who winds up impersonating his twin brother, who happens to be a judge. we also have a trainee who, after seeing the legal system fail her older sister, is on the rise to dispense justice through the courts the best she can.
honestly, the first few episodes were rough, mostly because of the content. big trigger warning for rape, violence, and sexual harassment at work. this kdrama really didn’t hold back when it came to addressing how the very people who use the law can also be the very same people who manipulate and abuse it. because of that, i found this kdrama incredibly powerful. that said, it certainly had its lighthearted moments too.
overall though, i liked this kdrama. the main characters were incredibly complex and genuinely the type to make me believe that for all the injustices in the world, there are still and always will be people fighting for the right thing. as someone who wants to enter the legal field, this kdrama was just uplifting. i was so blown away by the absolute rawness of the main two leads, esp. yoon shi yoon, who i’ve only ever seen in super lighthearted kdramas. so this was a really interesting change of pace, and i genuinely enjoyed watching this!
waiting for love
Tumblr media
so this kdrama is just two episodes, and what’s better is that it’s available on youtube! it’s about two college students--a young woman who’s been hurt by falling in love with jerks now just wants to date, not really fall in love...and a young man who’s excellent at giving dating advice except he’s afraid that he’s never going to actually fall in love, so he just dates a girl for the sake of dating.
now, i kinda thought that this show was going to be kinda lighthearted, a little shallow--but it was weirdly...comforting? idk, i found myself liking it a lot more than i thought it would be. this is far from the perfect kdrama, and i kinda wished that we got more than 2 episodes because i think some of the plot points could have been better expanded, but...there were genuinely a lot of scenes that made me think a bit more about what it actually means to be in a loving relationship--like how it’s not enough to just put on a happy smile and eat meals together, but like...you know. there has to be trust and actual liking and also, yeah, maybe a bit of frustration in order to actually know whether a relationship is real or not. and given that the characters were all discussing the pressure on getting married and romance esp. when you’re in your twenties...idk. makes you think about are you dating someone for the sake of appearances? or do you genuinely...like them?
there was also quite a few tropes that i personally adore in this kdrama, which helped balance out the stuff i found more tiring. there was a lot of the “right person, wrong time” stuff going on (you really want the two main leads to get together after a certain point, and you just keep holding your breath whenever they walk past each other and beg please please please let it be this time...), and also that good old “two strangers fall in love with each other purely over writing to each other” (god. first the half of it, then me & au, then greenhouse podcast...something about this trope huh). that said, there were def. some parts that made me “:////” because some of the characters were kind of frustrating, but i’m gonna chalk that up to good writing since i think i was mostly mad about how i knew people like some of the characters lol. overall, i think this might be at least semi-enjoyable--it’s probably not something i’ll watch again, but it def. made me mull over what it means to actually be in a loving relationship, esp. if you’re in your twenties and everyone around you seems to be in happy romantic relationships/getting engaged and whatnot.
movie:
columbus
Tumblr media
i’m a firm believer that there are some movies that are meant to cheer you up, some movies meant to make you cry, and then there’s some movies that are just meant to...sit with you. and this movie is definitely one of them. this story follows casey, a high school graduate, and jin, the son of a famous architect. the two of them are both so incredibly exhausted with their lives (casey with her constant worry about her mother, who’s a recovering drug addict; jin with his surface-level lack of concern for his comatose father). in their small town of columbus, indiana, the two of them bond over architecture and just. being quietly there for each other.
this movie’s been compared a few times to lost in translation in the sense that there’s this not quite romance between the two leads, who have a bit of an age gap (john cho and haley lu richardson have about 20 between them!). to be honest, i didn’t really get the sense that there was supposed to be a romance. if anything, it just felt like...two really lonely people finding each other. definitely not a simple friendship--definitely not a familial kind of relationship, definitely intimate.
idk. i think this movie might not be for everyone--i definitely agree with a lot of past reviewers that this movie is on the slower side. there’s some stuff here about complicated relationships with parents, a lot of cool architecture, really beautiful shots...and overall, it’s just...quiet. it’s lovely, and i can’t really stop thinking about it. it’s subtle, bittersweet, and oddly compelling. might not be the kind of thing you’d want to watch in the middle of the day, but if you’re a little sad and in the mood for something not to necessarily lift your spirits but...at least acknowledge them and sit with you, then...this is the movie to watch. idk. i felt kind of crummy the day i watched this movie, and i felt as though someone just sat next to me on a park bench until the sun went down. (mayhaps specific but hush, i’m writing this right after finishing this movie, so i’m...feeling a certain way.)
wish dragon
Tumblr media
i watched this movie right after watching columbus because a) decided i was in the mood for something lighter, and b) i learned that john cho?? voiced?? the dragon?? (caroline your crush on john cho’s jumping out this month...)
but anyways! i loved this movie a lot. it was so satisfying? like, just narratively speaking? and the animation was wonderful and also weirdly smooth and satisfying, and there were a lot of funny and touching moments. this movie’s about this young man named din who stumbles upon a magical teapot that holds the wish dragon long--long has to grant din three wishes, and yes, i know, very aladdin, but that said, this movie has so many original twists that it feels weird to call it an aladdin retelling. it really did feel like a movie completely on its own, which i applaud the writer and director for!
i don’t want to spoil too much of this movie, but something i really enjoyed was that din’s main wish is just to see his old childhood friend again. idk, i think we all have that one friend from when we were really little that we miss--and this movie really dug into that, as well as themes about parents wanting to do the best they can to provide for their kids, and!!! and long the dragon gets his own storyline and amazing character development too!!! i was honestly just amazed at how this movie fleshed out the characters so well and had so many wonderful themes that just made me tear up. guys. this movie’s great. highly recommend for its wonderful characters and the power of friendship. just a grand old time in general. :’))

yeah...yeah, i wasn’t kidding about my crush on john cho this month. yes, i watched three of his movies within 24 hours. this movie is about david kim who’s looking for his missing 16 year old daughter, margot. this film is honestly noteworthy for many reasons, one of them being that the entire movie is told through like...a laptop screen, as in we kind of follow david’s frantic search through facetime, facebook, tumblr...which i honestly didn’t think i’d be into, but whoo boy, i was wrong. it just added to the whole addictive quality of this movie, as it usually does when it comes to anything from the thriller genre.
but besides this just being a straight up addictive thriller with absolutely mouth-dropping twists (but like...good twists, and smart twists, good god--), this movie was just...touching? there’s so many themes related to what grief does to a family (because we learn within the first 10 minutes that the mom died due to cancer), and there’s just...something really fragile about relationships between surviving family members. i was absolutely blown away by john cho’s performance as a tentative and grieving widower whose world just absolutely falls apart in his search for his daughter. this movie was just so...real because of that. like, yes, this movie has all of the suspense that you would expect this kind of movie to have, but there was also just...so many beautiful themes about grief and how far parents would go for their kids and godddd yeah no i started sobbing when the movie ended. god.
also, my bias towards john cho aside, i...really loved his character. david kim is absolutely believable, and like? he’s not just the guy putting the pieces together--he’s also the guy who misses his wife and also the guy who wishes that he was there for his daughter. he’s also the guy who pauses and re-writes all his text messages because he’s trying to be a good dad. i feel like with a lot of these suspense / missing person movies, it’s really easy to have characters who are just the stoic alpha male types--and david kim definitely had his badass moments in this movie, but like...something i just loved was seeing the vulnerability that comes with...having a missing child. being a parent. god. this movie messed me up but in a good way. i can honestly say that this movie is now probably going to be one of my fave movies of all time. highly recommend, am literally obsessed with it.
book:
the seven husbands of evelyn hugo by taylor jenkins reid
Tumblr media
ohohoho………where to begin with this book. this was one of those books where i was like “huh i kinda don’t understand why people are so obsessed with this book”, but then i hit like...page 20 or 30 and was like “oh god i Literally Cannot Put This Book Down Oh No” and wound up finishing it in like three days (mind you, i only read at like...midnight these days. i don’t understand why either).
i finished this book at like 2 am and promptly burst into tears because this was just one of those books. it follows the story of evelyn hugo, a famous hollywood actress from the 60s or so and onwards. known for her intense beauty and her seven husbands, she’s now giving an exclusive interview to the young reporter monique grant, where she’s about to tell all about her life. this book had me dropping my mouth multiple times, and i think tjr can spin one hell of a story, with so many good twists and turns and intensely memorable characters. by the end of the book, i was actually mad that evelyn hugo wasn’t a real person, because i, too, fell a little in love with her and thought, i want to actually watch her movies. i want to learn even more about this remarkable woman.
but alas! she’s not real, so i don’t get to see her accept an oscar or look up all the tabloids about her and her seven husbands or her speculated (and very, very, very real) relationship with celia st. john. basically...i just loved this book. the last line made me smile and laugh and cry a little bit (actually...cry a lot), and y’know...i’ll admit it’s not totally perfect, but i’m glad this book exists, and i’m glad that even though tjr isn’t bi herself, was very adamant in this book about bisexuality being real. just. like. god. once again. mad that evelyn hugo isn’t real. it’s fine, she’s real in my heart.

Warnings: swearing, some playful touching....
Word Count: 11k
All you wanted to do was change into comfy sweats, pour a heavy glass of wine, and forget about the awful week you had at work. But of course, there had to be something else to make this day even worse. When you were about 5 minutes away from your apartment it started down pouring. You cursed to yourself and picked up the pace.
Once you were in the comfort of your building, you let out a sigh of relief and made the trek up to your apartment. When you stepped out of the elevator you were met with a smiling face, one that normally would melt all of your worries away, but today, it only helped a little. You forced a smile back when his smile turned into a concerned frown.
"What happened to you?" He asked, stopping in front of you.
"I got caught in the rain on the way back from work."
He nodded and grabbed the bags out of your hands so you could unlock your door.
"Thanks, Tyson." You said with a small smile, hoping he would leave you be now. Normally you would welcome his company, but you really wanted that glass of wine and quiet night in by yourself. But it wasn't looking like that was the case when he strolled over to your fridge making himself at home. But that didn't stop you from wandering down the hall and taking a warm shower. Maybe then he would get the hint?
Nope. When you walked back out to the living room he was cozied up on the couch. A little bit of your annoyance dissipated when you saw the two wine glasses on the coffee table in front of him. So you grabbed one and plopped back into the couch.
"Rough week?" He asked, grabbing the other glass.
"You have no idea."
"I'm sorry, you wanna talk about it?"
"Not really.…" you sighed, "no game tonight?"
"Nah, we're leaving for a road trip tomorrow."
"Ohh nice, where to?"
"We're going to Florida."
"Ugh, I'm so jealous. I would love some nice weather right now."
Tyson chuckled, "yeah it might do you some good. You're looking a little pasty."
You rolled your eyes and pushed him playfully. "I meant mentally, but thank you for that."
"I know, I'm just messing…" he said patting your thigh "…are you sure you're okay?"
You sighed, "yeah, I just had an awful week at work, and my family has been harping on me a lot lately and I'm just over it all."
"I'm sorry, Y/n/N, what's going on at work?"
"My coworkers are just the worst. We had a huge project due this week and it seemed like I was the only one doing anything. And of course they got all of the credit. But it's fine, things should be better next week."
"What about your family?"
"Where do I even start…lately it's just been about me not having a boyfriend. I just don’t understand the fascination with my love life. My cousin is getting married soon and they really want me to bring someone…but like who cares? I'm 23, I don't see the urgency. But I also don't want to get shit for it the whole weekend. I don't know, whatever, it'll be fine, I'm just annoyed right now."
"When is the wedding?"
"A few weeks from now…why?"
"Is it the All Star break?"
"Ummmm…." you said while checking the dates "yes…why?!"
"I could be your date if you wanted…"
"No, Tyson, I can't ask you to do that."
"You're not asking, I'm offering."
"I don't know, Tys…"
"Come on, you'll have good company, you won't have to hear about how single you are…"
"Wait, you want to go as my boyfriend?"
"Well I don't think going as your friend would help…"
"You'd really do that?"
"Yes! I want to."
"Alright.…I don't know if it'll work, I'm not sure my family will even believe me."
"Oh, we can make it believable."
You eyed Tyson suspiciously but then gave in. "Okay…alright. I owe you big time."
"Let's just see how the weekend goes…" Tyson said with a smirk.
The rest of the night was spent watching New Girl. Tyson kept refilling your glass and you ended up pretty tipsy. Before Tyson left he helped you into bed and locked up your apartment on the way out.
~~~~~
The next morning, you woke up with a headache, cursing yourself for getting wine drunk. You loved being wine drunk in the moment but hated the hangover. You also cursed yourself at the thought of the little plan you and Tyson had come up with the night before. It's not that you weren't excited to spend an entire weekend with Tyson, it's just that you were pretty nervous about the whole thing. You had grown very close in your time as neighbors, but it was always just as friends. You'd be lying if you said you didn't have a crush on Tyson, but you always kept it to yourself because you didn't want to ruin their friendship, not to mention you didn't think you were his type. You were also nervous about your family buying their 'relationship'. Not only had you been telling your family that you were still single, but they would never believe that you were dating one of the Colorado Avalanche.
You tried to push it from your mind and focus on getting rid of the hangover. You made your way to the kitchen and guzzled down a glass of water accompanied by a few Tylenol and then rummaged through the fridge to make something to eat.
You posted up on the couch after you ate and watched movies all day. You were able to be a bit more productive on Sunday and cleaned your apartment and went grocery shopping for the week.
~~~~~
You didn't see Tyson until Wednesday night. He had texted you earlier in the day asking if you wanted to get take out. When you got home from work, Tyson was already in your apartment with the take out.
"I could kiss you right now, I'm starving." You said as you dropped your bags on the floor and sat down at the table."
Tyson smirked, "it might be good practice…"
"Oh my god, I actually kind of forgot about that…we should talk about our game plan."
"Yes, I like to excel so I need everything there is to know about your family so I'm fully prepared."
You rolled your eyes, "of course you do…well, I mean how long have we been dating for? I've been telling my family I'm single, but I'm sure I could come up with some excuse why I haven't told them."
"Yeah, it might be kind of weird to take your boyfriend of two weeks to a family wedding…"
"Okay, so how long do you think?"
"6 months?"
"Is that too long?"
Tyson shrugged, "I don't know, I think that's fine."
"Alright, and I think we should stick to saying we met through being neighbors."
"Good idea, less room for slip ups…what are you going to use as an excuse for not telling them?"
"I guess maybe that I wanted to feel things out and also because you're kinda famous?"
"Kinda?! I'm hurt."
You giggled at Tyson's dramatics. "Okay, sorry, you're famous. Fully famous."
"Much better…so let's start with the family lessons. I know you have 3 brothers, Charlie, Ben, and Jack. Your parents are Kate and Steve… but I think that's all I got."
"I'm impressed! Yes, Ben is the oldest, he's a lawyer, he's married to Hailey who is a nurse. Charlie is next, he's a teacher, he's engaged to Casey, who is also a teacher. Then there is Jack, he's in his second year of med school and his girlfriend is Carly, she's a physical therapist. Then my parents, Kate and Steve. My dad is a lawyer, Ben works at his firm. And my mom is a nurse. Do you want me to write this stuff down?"
"No way, I'll get it. Just keep going."
"Alright...the cousin that is getting married is on my dad's side. His name is Tom, his fiancé's name is Lauren. Tom does something with finance, I'm not exactly sure what, and Lauren is a social worker. Tom has one sister, Maddie, she's an aspiring actress…" Tyson stifled a laugh at your face when you said her occupation. "My grandparents are Dave and Shelly, they're both retired, but my grandfather was a lawyer, it’s his firm that my dad and Ben work for. And I think I can just introduce you to everyone else as we go…"
"Alright, got it."
"Do you?" You questioned, not believing him.
"Okay, fine, not yet. But I will."
~~~~~
The next few weeks went by faster than you had wanted. As the wedding grew nearer you became more and more nervous. You had let everyone know that you would be bringing your boyfriend, and of course, the questions rolled in. You told them what you had practiced with Tyson, you weren't sure where things were going to go and didn't want to get their hopes up, and because he's a professional athlete you wanted to make sure everything was sound in their relationship before you went public. Although your mom was upset that you didn’t confide in her earlier, they were happy that you had found a boyfriend. It definitely made you feel guilty for lying, but you were able to get over it.
A few days before you were leaving, you went to Tyson's game. You weren't able to go all of the time, but you had a blast when you did. You had become friends with a few of the WAGs and of course a bunch of the guys.
They were all going out after the game to celebrate the beginning of the All Star break and Tyson had invited you to go so you went down to the locker rooms after the game to wait for him.
"Y/N!" You turned at the familiar voice and smiled and gave Andre a hug.
"Hey, Burky, good game!"
"Thanks, are you coming out with us?"
"I am!!"
"Good, Tys is more fun when you're around." He said, winking. You laughed a bit before a few of the others guys joined and talked about the plans for this evening.
A few minutes later, Tyson came up behind you and wrapped his arm around you.
"Hey, Tys!" You greeted him happily.
"Hey, babe." You rolled your eyes at his choice of words. "What?! I'm just trying to get into character." He defended, which made the guys laugh. They all knew about the arrangement and most of them were hoping this weekend would be the push you needed to actually date.
"You ready?" Tyson asked. You nodded and bid farewells until later.
Tyson drove you back to you building and you split ways to get ready.
"How long do you need?" He asked.
"I'll be ready in like 20??"
"Alright, I'll come over in a half hour." He said chuckling at himself, which caused you to roll your eyes but nod your head and go inside.
An hour later you were making your way through the crowd at the club to find everyone else. Tyson had gone to get them drinks while you sat down next to EJ and Landy. Landy was grilling you about the weekend, him being the number one supporter of you guys actually dating. Luckily he let up a bit on  you when Tyson came back and started in on him.
You kept downing drinks as the night went on and ended up being very drunk. Tyson had to help you through the club and he pretty much carried you to your apartment. He was nervous to leave you alone, so he ran over to his apartment to change and came back to stay with you for the night.
~~~~~
The next morning, you groaned as you peeled your eyes open. You were slightly confused about the arm draped over you because you didn't remember talking to any guys at the club. You relaxed when you looked over and saw that it was Tyson.
"Good morning, sleeping beauty." He said with a smirk.
"Morning….what are you doing here?"
"You were pretty loaded…I was nervous you might throw up in your sleep so I stayed with you."
"Oh, I'm sorry, I really didn't mean to get so drunk…"
"I know, it's all good. You just will really be kicking yourself in the car today!"
"Ugh, don't remind me." You said and rolled back over.
"10 more minutes! Then you need to get up and get ready." Tyson reminded.
"Okay, mom." You muffled into the pillow as you fell back asleep.
An hour later you had the car packed up and were on the way. Thankfully, Tyson offered to drive, knowing your current state and just the fact you didn't love driving anyway. You played the music, luckily you had similar taste, so you jammed out for most of the 4 hour drive. You also quizzed him on your family, and just as he claimed, he remembered it all.
Tyson noticed that you had grown quiet in the last half hour. He reached over and grabbed your hand.
"Hey," he started softly, "it's going to be fine."
"I know, I'm just nervous. Even though they're happy I have a boyfriend, they can be so critical and rude. I'm going to apologize in advance for anything that they say."
"I think I can handle them…I'm used to criticism."
"I know…I just, even though we aren't actually dating, you are one of my best friends and I don't want them to scare you off."
"Don't worry about that…I'm not going anywhere." He said and gave your hand a gentle squeeze before pulling it away. You smiled at him and started to realize that this might not have been the best idea for your sake. You had been able to keep your feelings at bay, but this weekend might change that. You push those thoughts out of your mind as Tyson pulls the car into your driveway. You panicked a bit when you saw all of the cars in the driveway. It had been your understanding that Jack was going to be the only of your brothers home tonight and everyone else would be over tomorrow. Tyson noticed your panic and grabbed your hand again.
"What's wrong?"
"My mom told me Jack and Carly were going to be here tonight, not everyone else…"
"Well that's okay, we'll get it over with."
"I know, I just wasn't prepared for this. I'm sorry, I'll stop freaking out."
Tyson chuckled, "don't apologize. But don't worry either, okay? We got this." He reassured you and kissed your forehead. You blushed at the act, you guys had cuddled before and obviously shared the same bed, but this felt different, and it just made you even more nervous.
You both got out and grabbed your bags before approaching the door. You didn't even have time to put your bag down when it burst open.
"Y/N!!! I've missed you so much!" Your mom exclaimed while giving you a tight hug.
"Hi, mom, I missed you too." Once she let go, she turned to Tyson and you introduced the two. "Mom, this is Tyson, Tys, this is mom, Kate."
"Oh, it's so nice to meet you!!!" Your mom exclaimed again, pulling Tyson in for a hug.
"It's nice to meet you too, Mrs. Y/L/N. I've heard so much about you."
"Oh, please, call me Kate." She said as she let go. "Well, come in! Everyone's dying to meet you!"
You glanced at Tyson and he winked in return. You followed your mom inside and you put your bags down and went into the living room where everyone was sitting. Tyson put his arm on the small of your back and you leaned into him as you walked into the room.
Your brothers all shot up and surrounded you in a hug, separating you and Tyson. You rolled your eyes but laughed and welcomed their embrace. Once they finally let you go, your dad stepped up and gave you a hug and kissed your cheek. "Hey, baby girl. It's nice to see you."
"It's good to see you too, dad, I've missed you." He gave you one more quick squeeze and let you go so you could introduce Tyson to everyone.
"Well, everyone, this is Tyson…" At this point your brother's partners had joined them. "…Tyson, this is my dad, Steve, Ben and Hailey, Charlie and Casey, and Jack and Carly."
Tyson shook all of their hands as you went down the line.
"It's nice to meet you all." Tyson said with a smile.
"It's nice to meet you too, we're glad she's finally bringing someone home to us!" Your dad joked, causing you to roll your eyes.
"Okay, well, we're gonna bring our stuff upstairs. See you in a few." You said grabbing Tyson's hand and dragging him back into the hallway.
"No funny business!" Your brother Charlie called, laughing at himself. You heard Casey scold him and smiled to yourself.
You led Tyson to your old room, telling him you'll give him a tour once you put your bags down.
"That wasn't so bad…" He said as you plopped down on the bed.
"Yet…it's been 5 minutes."
Tyson chuckled and cupped your face with hands, "hey, what did I tell you? Stop worrying."
"I know, I know. I just can't help it."
"Come on, let's go. I'm ready for the grand tour." He said taking your hands and pulling you up. You sighed, but obliged and led him out of the room.
"….and this is the kitchen!" You said as you finished the tour. Your mom smiled at the two of you as you entered the room.
"Your home is very beautiful, Kate." Tyson said to your mom.
"Oh, you're too sweet…do you mind helping me finish up dinner, Y/n/N?"
"Sure. Tys do you want to help?" You asked, not really wanting to throw him to the wolves with your brothers in the next room.
"Yeah, I'll help. What do you need us to do?" He asked sweetly.
"Can you two finish putting the salad together? All of the stuff is on the counter over there."
You nodded and went to the sink to wash your hands and then you and Tyson started cutting up vegetables. You actually were having a lot of fun, Tyson was trying out some of his new jokes on your mom, which she loved. The whole scene felt very domestic, and of course you couldn't help but think about your feelings for him. You were brought back to reality when Tyson gave you a questioning look and mouthed "are you okay?" You forced a smile back and nodded and went back to cutting vegetables.
Once the three of you finished up, your mom called everyone into the dining room for dinner. Everyone took their seats and dug right in.
"This is delicious, mom." Jack complimented with his mouth full. Everyone chuckled and agreed, your mom blushing from the compliments.
"Well, I had good helpers." She said acknowledging you and Tyson. You both smiled and went back to eating.
You were starting to get nervous because your brothers hadn't really said much to Tyson. They had always been very overprotective and tried to scare off the guys you brought around and even though Tyson wasn't actually your boyfriend you were really nervous for what they might say. You knew better than to think that maybe they grew out of that stage, so it just made you more and more anxious for when it was going to come.
You caught Jack's gaze and he gave you a devilish grin. You gave him a warning look but he just shook his head. This was it. It was coming and there was nothing you could do to stop it. You looked at Tyson and he gave you a small smile and squeezed your thigh under the table.
"So, Tyson…" Charlie started "…hockey, huh?"
You shot a glare at your brother but he just smiled sweetly.
"Uh, yeah, I've played ever since I was young."
"How reliable is it to play professionally?" Ben asked this time.
"Ben…" Your mom scolded.
"It's okay, that's a fair question." Tyson defended. "I would say it's pretty secure, as long as I'm playing well and staying healthy."
"What happens if you get injured?" Jack asked.
"Well, if it's minor I'll get treatment until it's healed and then start playing again."
"And if it's not?"
"Well, I guess, I'd be done playing hockey."
"Okay, that's enough." You said glaring at all of your brothers.
"We just want to make sure you're in good hands, Y/n/N." Jack said sweetly.
"I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself with my own salary, so Tyson's job security shouldn't be of concern." That shut them up for a little, but you knew they weren't done. Not with this dinner and certainly not for the rest of the weekend. Tyson squeezed your thigh again, that definitely being his way of telling you not to get too worked up.
Thankfully, your mom changed the subject to talk about plans for the weekend, but that didn't hold for very long.
"So, Tyson…" Jack started this time "…it must be pretty demanding being a professional athlete, do you even see Y/N that much?" You shot him another glare but he just kept smiling.
"Yeah, it can be, we live across the hall from each other so I pretty much see her whenever I'm home."
"Why does it matter to you how often we see each other?" You asked.
"We're just looking out for you, Y/n/N." Charlie defended.
"Well stop, you're just being rude."
"Alright, let's not fight at the table…" Your mom stated, trying to keep the peace. "Hailey, how are things at the hospital?"
You were thankful she changed the subject again, but you still weren't convinced it would put a total end to the grilling.
And you were right, a few minutes later, Jack spoke up again.
"Tyson, you must have a lot of girls after you, being a professional athlete and all."
You didn't even give Tyson the chance to defend himself before you lost it.
"Are you kidding me right now, Jack?! I cannot believe you would even ask that! Can you not be a dick for like one fucking weekend?!" And you stormed off up the stairs.
Tyson excused himself and followed after you. You sat on the bed, too mad to even cry, which you were thankful for. It was embarrassing enough that Tyson just had to sit through and witness what just happened.
"I'm so sorry, Tys." You apologized as he sat down next to you.
"No need to apologize, Y/n/N. It's not your fault your brother is a dick." You cracked a smile at his comment.
"I just didn't think he'd be like that. They've always been super overprotective, but that was just too much."
"It's really okay. Honestly, I can't say that I wouldn't have asked something similar to my sister's boyfriend. I get it. You're their baby sister, they just want what's best for you. I can take their crap, alright?"
"You're too good." You said with a huff, which made Tyson chuckle.
"Only for you, babe." He said and kissed your forehead. You both settled back on the bed and he tucked you into his side.
A little while later there was a knock on your door. You sat up a little bit and told them to come in. It was your mom.
"Hi, sweetie. How are you doing?"
"I'm fine, I just wish Jack wasn't such an asshole."
"I know, I'm sorry, and I'm sorry Tyson that he was acting that way."
"It's okay, I understand, I have a younger sister."
"Well, I think he feels bad he upset you like that…"
"Good." You stated, causing your mom and Tyson to chuckle.
"Alright, well I just wanted to make sure you were okay. Goodnight, you two."
"Goodnight, mom."
"Goodnight, Kate."
"I, um, don't usually freak out like that so, I'm sure it really made them feel bad…" You stated.
"Yeah, now I know to never piss you off."
You laughed at Tyson and cuddled back into his side. "That kind of freak out is reserved for my brothers. You probably won't ever be on the receiving end."
"Good to know." He said chuckling back. "You wanna watch New Girl?"
"Sure, I'm gonna go get changed first."
The rest of the night was spent watching Netflix, cuddled up in your bed. No apology from Jack but you didn't really expect one. He'll probably half ass one in the morning, and you'll forgive him, you always do.
~~~~~~
You were right. When you went downstairs for breakfast, it was just Jack in the kitchen. He looked over at you and held his arms out, signifying a hug. You looked at him and raised your eyebrows, awaiting those magic words.
"Come on, are you really going to make me say it?"
"Yes! You were so awful last night. You really owe an apology to Tyson…"
"Fine, I'm sorry, Y/n/N. I took it too far."
"Yes, you did. But I forgive you…as long as you cool it for the rest of the weekend!"
"I will, I promise."
"Thank you." You beamed and gave him a hug.
"Aww, how sweet!" Charlie cooed as he interrupted you and Jack.
"Hey, I think you and Ben also owe her an apology."
"No way, we didn't take it as far as you did." Charlie defended just as Ben walked in.
"Yeah, I agree, we were pretty mild." Ben agreed.
"Would it really be that bad to apologize to me?" You asked, fully knowing the answer.
"Yes." Ben and Charlie answered at the same time.
You rolled your eyes but went about your business.
"Where is lover boy anyway?" Charlie asked.
You shrugged, "still sleeping."
"Not out for an early morning run?" Jack teased, you rolled your eyes again.
"Stop!! You said you'd cool it!"
"Relax, I'm just teasing."
You rolled your eyes as you sat down at the table and your brothers joined around you.
"But seriously, Y/n/N. Are you happy?"
"Yes, Ben, I'm very happy. He's really good to me."
"Okay good, then we're happy. But as soon as he does something to hurt you…he's done for."
"I know, I know. Although…he is a professional athlete, are you sure you could take him?" You teased.
"Please, it's no contest." Charlie defended which made you laugh.
Just as he was about to throw a grape at you, Tyson walked in the kitchen.
"Good morning, Tys!" You called from the table. He came over and sat next to you and greeted your brothers. "Are you hungry? I can make you some eggs, or we have cereal, I could make pancakes?"
"How come you didn't offer to make any of us that stuff??" Jack whined. You just rolled your eyes and looked back at Tyson.
"I'll have some eggs, but I can help you." He said and the two of you got up and started cooking.
Everyone else ended up joining you in the kitchen so you ended up making breakfast for everyone else too, but you didn't mind. It was fun to hang out with everybody and you were glad that your brothers were done with third degree.
After breakfast you and Tyson went back upstairs to showered for the day. You wanted to show him around your hometown and have a chill day because the next two days were going to be filled with wedding stuff.
When you walked back into your room after your shower, Tyson was lying on the bed looking at his phone. You were just in a towel and while you and Tyson were pretty comfortable with each other, you expected him to go take his shower so you could change. He looked up at you and smirked when he saw your attire.
"You gonna give me a show?"
"Tyson!" You cried. "We're at my parents…and it's 10 in the morning."
"So you're saying you would though?"
"Seriously, that's what you took from that?"
Tyson smirked at you and moved to get off the bed. You watched him as he rummaged through his things and then started to move past you to go to the bathroom. Just as you thought you were safe, he slapped your ass and hurried out of the room. You gasped, though it wasn't very hard, you were not expecting that. You wanted to mad but you couldn't help but smile. If he wanted to play it like that this weekend, you were gonna give it right back.
You decided to only get half-dressed to start…you put on a sexy bra and super cheeky underwear. Once satisfied with your look, you laid down on the bed and waited for Tyson to come back. You didn’t have to wait long, a few minutes later you heard him opening the door.
"Hey, do you know if there is anymore-- whoa." You smirked at the thought of Tyson's face, you couldn't see because you were lying on your stomach so your ass was showing. What you didn't bargain for was for him to be so composed and not let it get to him. So just as you were about to turn around to see what he was doing, you felt a much harder slap to your ass.
"Ow, Tyson! What the hell!"
"Hey, you put your ass out here like that…I can't help it." He smirked and plopped down next to you.
"You're the worst." You grinned as you got up to finish getting dressed.
"You ready?" You asked a little while later after both of you had gotten dressed.
"Yes ma'am, let's get to it. Lots of history to see."
"History? I would hardly call this town historical."
"Yeah, your history." He said with a sweet smile. Your heart melted and you were really starting to wonder if you would make it through this weekend.
You started off by showing him the spot where everyone went to party, you didn't stay long because it was pretty cold, but he thought it was funny that a random spot in the woods was where you used to get drunk. "Hey, you do what you gotta do in a small town." You defended before moving on. You then took him by the high school, you couldn't really spend much time there either because kids were in school. Next you brought him 'downtown'. You walked around going into different little shops and boutiques. Then you brought him to your favorite place to eat for lunch.
The two of you talked a lot about high school and how different it was for both of you. You had never really talked much about your past during your friendship so it was nice to get to know each other a little better.
"So, tell me all about high school Y/N." He said once the two of you had ordered your food.
You sighed, "what do you want to know?"
"I don't know…were you popular? A jock? A nerd?"
"I mean…I guess I was popular…I played sports, I wouldn't identify as a nerd but I did do well in school…"
"Wait you played sports?"
"Yeah, soccer, hockey, and lacrosse."
"I'm sorry, what? You played hockey?? How come you never told me?"
"I don't know…I guess it never came up."
"We talk about hockey all the time…"
"Yeah, you playing hockey…professional hockey…not high school girls hockey. Besides, I really wasn't very good soo..."
"So what?! I can't believe you didn't tell me…I'm taking you skating as soon as we get back to Denver so you can show me your moves."
You shook your head, "nope. No way."
"Why not?!"
"Because I'm really not very good, and that's why I've never mentioned it because I knew that you would make me go skating with you."
"Oh come on, I seriously doubt you're that bad."
"Compared to you, yeah, I am."
Tyson rolled his eyes. "You are so ridiculous…so what else did you do in high school?"
"Well, I was in chorus…and don't ask me to sing for you because I will not be doing that."
"Come on, you're no fun." Tyson whined.
You laughed at him and shook your head, "yeah I guess I left all of it here."
"Anything else that I don't know about you that you want to share with me?? Crazy ex boyfriends?? Girlfriends??"
"I guess I should probably tell you…I do have an ex who will be going to the wedding…we dated for a few years but he was kinda shitty.."
"Shitty?"
You sighed, not really wanting to get into it but you knew that you should give him an explanation because you really didn't know what would happen this weekend. "It was a pretty unhealthy relationship…of course I didn't really know that at the time. It wasn't until I went off to college that I started realizing that something was wrong. I tried to end things while I was away but he wouldn't really let it happen so I tried again when I went back home for break and he, like, freaked out…and um, hit me, so I called my friend to come get me… I was able to get out of the relationship with some help but nothing ever really happened to him because I guess he was having drinking issues…"
"Wait, he hit you…and your family is still bringing him around?"
"Yeah...my uncle is really good friends with his dad so…"
"I'm so sorry, Y/n/N…are you gonna be okay this weekend?"
"It's okay.…it's been a few years now. I haven't really seen him much, I usually avoid the gatherings he goes to. I'm not really sure what will happen this weekend…"
"Well I won't leave your side the whole time. I'll protect you."
"Thanks, Tys. I'm actually so thankful you came with me this weekend."
"Of course. You do so much for me all the time…it's the least I could do."
Even though he meant that in the best way possible, and despite all of the flirty comments and advances, it just reinforced that he really was just here as your friend.
You spent the rest of lunch talking about random stuff. Tyson took his phone out and started taking a picture of you.
"Stop! What are you doing?" You said covering your face.
"Put your hands down!! This is great lighting. Smile, look cute."
You relented and let him take your picture. "You better not put that anywhere."
Tyson smirked, "too late."
"Tyson! I’m gonna kill you." You checked your phone and sure enough he tagged you in his Instagram story.
"It's fine, you look really pretty!"
"Okay, but you have so many followers! They're going to think we're dating."
"We are...aren't we?"
You rolled your eyes and focused back on your food.
"I can take it down if you really want me to, but that might look extra sus."
"No, it's fine. I just will kill you if you do it again."
There wasn't really much else to show him so after you finished you headed back to your parent's house.
Your parents were the only ones home so you greeted them and headed up to your room. Tyson went to the bathroom so you took the opportunity to change into some comfy clothes and put on Netflix. You didn't acknowledge him when he walked back into your room but he had the same idea you did, he stripped down and put on some sweats before lying next to you in bed. Normally you would snuggle up next to him but you decided you needed to start distancing yourself a bit otherwise you were going to end up getting hurt.
You ended up falling asleep and woke up an hour later and woke up with your head on Tyson's shoulder. Figures, you knew that would happen. You turned your head and noticed that he was asleep too and he had wrapped his arm around your waist. You sighed as you grabbed your phone from your nightstand and settled back into bed, not wanting to wake him up.
You opened Instagram and were met with hundreds of notifications. Luckily, you were private, but you had a ton of follower requests. Thanks, Tyson. You scrolled through them, most of them being random girls, a few cute guys that you took the chance and let them follow you. There were a few people with the little blue check mark, mostly other guys in the NHL, but one in particular caught your eye. Mat Barzal. You knew that Tyson was friends with him, and you'd be lying if you denied thinking he was attractive. You had always had a little crush on him, so you accepted his request and kept scrolling through. A few minutes later, you received a DM from Mat. Your heart started racing as you went to open it.
Tyson didn't tell me his neighbor friend was so cute ;)
Okay, now you were freaking out, you did not expect that. Obviously Tyson had told him that he was going to a wedding with you. But it was also more proof that Tyson thought of you as just a friend. I mean, he would have told Mat that he liked you, right? You were interrupted from your thoughts by Tyson shifting next to you.
"Who's that?" He asked groggily.
"Um, no one." You said quickly exiting out of Instagram.
"Obviously not." He said grabbing your phone from your hand and getting out of bed.
"Tyson! Give me my phone back."
"I just want to see who's DMing you." You tried grabbing it from his hands but he held you back with one arm. "Mat?" He asked, growing serious.
"You're the one who posted the story…I'm getting lots of requests from guys in the NHL."
"But Mat?"
"You're acting as if I have any control over this."
"You know he's my friend right?"
"Tyson, he messaged me, I don't know what you want me to do."
"Are you gonna respond?"
"I don't know, I don't really know what to say back to that."
"Do you want to?"
"Well I don't want to be rude, but if it's going to bother you I guess I won't."
"No, I'm sorry, you can respond. I guess it just caught me off guard." He said giving you your phone and leaving the room.
You huffed and sat down on the bed. You were so confused. Why would Tyson react like that if he just liked you as a friend? This weekend was really messing with your head and you were kind of regretting bringing him with you. You had already accepted that you should get over your feelings for him, but now you were worried that it was going to mess with your friendship.
You contemplated what to say back to Mat. You didn't want to upset Tyson but you also didn't want to leave him on read, it might be kind of awkward if you guys ever met in person.
Tyson came back a few minutes later and seemed to be in a little bit of a better mood.
"Did you respond?" He asked, sitting down next to you.
"Not yet, I don't know what to say…any ideas?"
"You wanna mess with him a bit?" He asked with a smirk.
"I don't know, Tys, I don't know him."
"But I do…he'll think it's funny."
You sighed and handed him your phone, "fine."
Tyson took it happily and started typing away.
"What are you saying?" You asked, trying to look over his shoulder. He moved the phone so you could see it.
You know Tyson?
You looked at Tyson quizzically, "where are you going  with this?"
"I'm gonna make it seem like you don't know who he is."
"Tys, that's just mean."
"Relax, it'll be fine."
You only had to wait a few minutes before he replied again.
Wait, Tys hasn't mentioned me?
Tyson started laughing when he read it and you just rolled your eyes, wishing you had never agreed to this.
No…sorry :( Tyson cackled as he sent back,
"It’s not as funny as you think it is, you know."
"Oh, it's hilarious."
Damn, well then I guess I'm gonna have to get you to fall for me all by myself
You laughed as you watched Tyson react to the response.
"Guess that didn't work as well as you thought it would." You teased, grabbing your phone.
"Wait, let me say one more thing!!"
"No, you've done enough. I'm telling him it was a joke."
"You are absolutely no fun." Tyson whined.
You shrugged, "sorry!"
Hey, I’m so sorry, Tyson saw that you DM'd me and thought that it would be funny to mess with you…
I know who you are haha
Of course he did…what a relief though, you are very pretty I would love to meet you sometime :)
I'm sure we could make that happen…as long as Tyson doesn't get in the way.
"What are you saying?" Tyson asked when he saw you grinning at your phone like a teenager.
"Why must you know everything?"
"Because you're both my friends…"
"Fine." You said and showed him what you said. "Looks like you have to introduce us."
Tyson rolled his eyes, "we'll see."
You chose to just ignore him because you didn't want to argue anymore.
"We should probably go socialize…" You said sighing and getting up.
Tyson let out a sigh too and rummaged through his things to find a shirt to put on. Once he put one on the two of you headed downstairs.
Your mom, Casey, and Carly were in the kitchen getting started on dinner. You asked if they needed help but they said no so you went into the living room where your dad, Jack, and Charlie were all watching TV. You took the open loveseat and Tyson put his arm around you and you cuddled into his side. Although things were a little weird between the two of you, you had to keep appearances up. There wasn't much talking going on, although you were glad that your brothers were being pleasant with Tyson.
Tyson was focused on the TV while you were scrolling through Twitter. You hadn't even noticed that Tyson was now looking at your phone with you until he squeezed your shoulder and laughed at the tweet you just liked. You relaxed a little bit more in his arms, glad that things were becoming more comfortable again.
Dinner was much better than it was the night before. Everyone was laughing and making jokes, no one was grilling Tyson…
You helped your mom clean up while everyone else went into the living room to set up for a game of charades.
"So, how are you?" Your mom asked.
"Um, I'm good…why?"
"What? I can't ask how you are?"
"Well, you can, it just seemed a little out of the blue."
"I haven't really had any time alone with you…"
"I know, I'm sorry. I just worry about leaving Tyson alone with them…"
"How come you never told me about him?"
"I told you mom, I didn't know if things were serious or not, and we wanted to keep it kind of private, hockey fans can be crazy."
"I know, but I'm your mother. I want you to feel like you can tell me things like that."
"I do mom, I really do. I'm sorry, I should have told you earlier."
"Things are good with you two?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Things seemed a little tense tonight…"
"We just had a little disagreement earlier, but it's all good."
"Okay...he seems like a really great guy, Y/n/N, and the way he looks at you…it reminds me of how my father looked at my mother…he's really in love with you sweetie. I hope this works out for you two."
You smiled sweetly at your mom and gave her a hug, even though that was the last thing you wanted to hear right now. At this point, you had stopped getting your hopes at little signs because they never ended up meaning anything.
Once you were finished cleaning up, you and your mom joined everyone else in the living room. You sat down next to Tyson and he put his arm around and kissed the side of your head. You were not looking forward to this game, your family was very competitive, and although you knew Tyson was too, it could get out of hand pretty quickly.
You were split into two teams, thankfully you were with Tyson, Charlie, Casey, and your dad. Jack and Ben are the worst to have on your team because they are the most competitive and they get super pissed when you're not performing well. Your dad and Charlie were also really good at charades so you'd probably win.
It actually ended up being a lot of fun. Thankfully, Jack and Ben didn't get too worked up and of course everyone was drinking so everyone was laughing and having a good time. Your parents called it quits when Ben and Hailey left to go back to their house. The rest of you stayed up and talked for a while before everyone slowly tucked in for the night.
When you and Tyson finally laid down you were exhausted.
"Well tonight went much better than last…" Tyson said, pulling you closer to him.
"Yes...thankfully. I was a little nervous, Jack and Ben can be a little crazy when it comes to games."
Tyson chuckled, "you're one to talk…"
You scoffed, "hey! I am not that competitive."
"Um, I have a monopoly board that would say differently."
"Oh my god, okay, I was really drunk…I don't usually get like that."
"Whatever you say…"
You shook your head and reached over to turn the lamp off.
"Do we have to be up early tomorrow?" Tyson asked.
"No, I don't think so. I think we have to be at the church by 3."
"Perfect, I want to sleep in, I'm exhausted."
"I know, me too."
"Are you gonna sleep in?" He asked, wrapping his arm around your waist.
"I'm gonna try…why?"
"It was hard to keep sleeping once you got up…"
"You want me to stay in bed until you get up?"
"Pretty please?" He asked, sticking his lip out.
You shook your head and chuckled, "yes, I can do that, but not if it's super late!!"
"Okay, deal. Night, Y/n/N."
"Goodnight, Tys."
The next morning you were kicking yourself for the deal you made. You were so tangled up in Tyson it was going to be impossible to even move. You tried to carefully grab your phone so you could see what time it was. 9 am. You relaxed and began checking all of your social media. You were careful to avoid your DMs, you didn't want him to wake up and see anything that would upset him. Although you still wanted to know why he actually cared so much about Mat messaging you.
A little while the arm around your waist tightened and Tyson's head poked up.
"So much better when you're in bed with me." He said groggily. "…just wish we were naked."
"Tyson!" You said shooting up to a sitting position. You looked over at his smug little face. "You are such an asshole."
"You love me." He shrugged, putting an arm around you.
You rolled your eyes, "you disgust me."
You laid there quietly for a few minutes before Tyson spoke up again, "you ready for today?"
"Pretty sure that should be a question for the bride…"
“`Yes but the whole reason I’m here this weekend is to help you get through it.” “Okay, yeah...I’m sure it’ll be fine. Seeing you with me should shut everyone up.”
A smug grin appeared on Tyson’s face, “I can’t argue with you there…”
You shook your head and laughed before growing serious again. “I just am a little nervous about seeing Jake...I don’t know if he’s still drinking and I’m worried he’s going to cause a scene.”
“Well if he does than fuck that. It won’t be your fault either so don’t feel bad if he does.” “I know, it’s just, everyone has always pitied him and let things slide because he’s an alcoholic. I just don’t think my family will see it as his fault...they’ll blame it on me for bringing some new guy around even though that’s all they talk about. I just can’t win with them.”
“Okay, well let’s not get too ahead of ourselves here. Hopefully everything will be fine and we won’t have to worry about it. If it does, we’ll deal with it then, okay? Just try and relax and have fun. Weddings are supposed to be fun.”
“I know...thanks, Tys. I know I keep saying this but I really do appreciate you being here with me.”
“And I will keep telling you that it’s no big deal, sweets.” You smiled as he kissed your forehead. You were quiet for a few moments before he spoke up again. “So...have you heard from Mat at all?”
“Not since last night…” You said softly while Tyson just nodded. “Why?” Tyson shrugged, “just wondering.” You gave him a pointed look. “What? I am!”
“How come you seemed so upset about it last night?” “I didn’t mean to seem upset, I just, I don’t know, it caught me off guard. But I know you think he’s attractive so go for it I guess.” He said enthusiastically.
“Okay, well I don’t care what you say, it clearly bothers you in some way, so I’m not going to talk to him.”
Tyson rolled his eyes but didn’t argue so you figured that meant there was some truth in your statement.
You laid in bed for about another hour talking about random stuff before you got up to shower and start getting ready.
“Alright,” you started as you untangle yourself from Tyson, “I’m gonna get in the shower.” “Wanna save some water and shower together?” He asked with a cheeky grin, grabbing your wrist to keep you in place.
“Absolutely not.” You said as you shrugged his hand off of yours and walked out of the room.
Tyson looked up when you walked back into your room. He opened his mouth but you cut him off before he could even say anything.
“Whatever you’re about to say, the answer is no. Go get in the shower.”
Tyson pouted, but did as he was told, not before grabbing your ass on the way out with a little giggle. You rolled your eyes and went about getting ready.
You couldn’t help but glance over at Tyson as he strolled back through the door a few minutes later. The towel he had wrapped around his waist was starting to fall off of his hips and you had a clear picture of his V line. You hadn’t really noticed that you were staring until you heard Tyson start talking to you.
“Like what you see?”
You blushed and rolled your eyes turning back towards the mirror to finish your makeup.
Once you were finally done with your makeup, Tyson had stepped out of the room so you took the opportunity to put your dress on. You slipped it on and tried your best to zip it up but you couldn’t quite reach. When you heard the door open again you turned to ask Tyson for help.
“Hey Tys can you help me-” You stopped when you saw him staring at you. “Is everything okay? Is there something wrong with my dress?” You asked, starting to panic a bit.
“No, no, not at all. I, um, you just look really beautiful.”
You visibly relaxed and smiled at him. “Thanks, Tys. Could you help me zip up though?” He nodded and stepped towards you and turned back around so he could help you. You could feel Tyson’s breath on the back of your neck. Once he zipped you up you turned around slowly, Tyson not moving a muscle. You looked up at him, his face just inches from yours. He cupped your chin in his hand and he brought your face to his and kissed you softly. You closed your eyes and welcomed his lips on yours.
Tyson pulled away after a few moments and turned away. “Shit, I’m sorry, I…” He trailed off and sat on the bed.
You grew sad at his reaction. Although he initiated the kiss it seems like he also regrets it.
“It’s okay...I, um, I’m gonna go downstairs.” You said and quickly left the room. You ducked into the bathroom and leaned against the counter willing yourself not to cry so you wouldn’t ruin your makeup. You took a few deep breaths to compose yourself and you made your way to the door. Just as you were about to turn the knob there was a knock.
“Y/n/N? Can I come in?” It was Tyson. The tears that you just suppressed were quickly coming back. You opened the door and retreated back to the counter.
“Jesus, are you crying?” You covered your face with your hands because the tears were now rolling. “Please don’t cry Y/N. I didn’t mean to upset you, jesus…” he trailed off as he placed his hands on your shoulders. “Please stop crying...I don’t know why I did that…” “It’s fine, Tys, you got caught up in the moment, it’s fine.” “What? No, not the kiss...the kiss was amazing...I totally meant to do that. I don’t know why I pulled away like that. I guess I just thought maybe that’s not what you wanted and I thought I messed everything up. I guess I did that anyway…” You didn’t say anything and you didn’t move for a few moments. “Will you look at me please?” He asked, softly guiding your chin up to look at him. “I’m sorry, Y/n/N. Please don’t be upset.” “You’re wrong you know…” He gave you a puzzled look but you just kept going. “I’ve wanted you to kiss me so badly...for so long. I just thought maybe you regretted it and that’s why you pulled away…”
“Not at all, babe...not at all.” He said, moving in, grabbing the sides of your face and kissing you tenderly.
This time when he pulled away his hands stayed where they were and he wiped away the remaining tears with his thumbs. “God you are so gorgeous.”
You couldn’t help but laugh a little, “Tyson, I’m crying and my makeup is everywhere.”
“That’s what makes you so beautiful.”
You shook your head and smiled at him, taking his hands in yours and bringing them to your sides.
“Come on, let’s go get you fixed up.” He said, leading you back to your room.
It didn’t take you too long to fix your makeup, and before you knew it you heard your mom yell up the stairs telling you guys to hurry up. You grabbed your shoes and sat on the bed next to Tyson to put them on. You started to open the door to leave and Tyson took your hand to stop you.
“Tys, we need to go what ar-” He stopped you with another kiss that you melted into.
“I know, I’m sorry, I just can’t get enough of your lips right now…”
You chuckled and rolled your eyes, “if we go now you can explore all of my lips later…”
Tyson’s eyes widened and he hurried both of you downstairs where the rest of your family was waiting.
~~~~~~
It was a beautiful day, although still pretty cold, the sun was shining and the snow was shimmering. The church looked gorgeous, they had decorated it with tons and tons of flowers, it looked like a garden and it was beautiful.
You held onto Tyson's arm as you followed the rest of your family to sit down. You got there on the earlier side, so there weren't too many people there yet. You found yourself looking back at the doors quite often, waiting for Jake to arrive. Tyson noticed, because you really weren't being very discrete about it, so he took your hand in his and squeezed it gently. You looked at him and smiled. You were so happy and relieved that you two finally shared how you felt and that you could finally be together. You wanted to believe that nothing would ruin such a beautiful day, but if anyone could, it would be Jake.
You were successfully distracted from the door by your brother's ridiculous argument over which of your cousins was going to get the most shitfaced. By the end of it you had placed $20 on who you thought I'd be.
When the ceremony was about to start, you looked to your left and your breath hitched. You grabbed Tyson's hand and looked at you before following your gaze across the room to where Jake was. He looked back and gave you a reassuring smile and kissed the side of your head. Thankfully, the music started to play and your focus was on the wedding party walking in.
The ceremony was beautiful, their vows were adorable, and all of the speakers and passages were very fitting. It wasn't too long either, which was also nice, you couldn't sit still for very long so you liked when things were quick.
Because of all of the people leaving the church, you avoided an encounter with Jake which you were glad about but you knew it was going to happen so the dread just set in. You were able to keep pretty busy throughout the night. Introducing Tyson to everyone and catching up with family you hadn't seen in a while. Tyson stayed by your side pretty much the whole night which was super comforting. You were nervous for him to leave you because you had caught Jake staring at you a few times, and you knew as soon as you were alone he was going to come up to you.
It didn't happen for a little while longer, which you didn't know if it was better or worse because you now had multiple vodka sodas in you. You had been sitting at the table with Tyson, taking a break from the dance floor, when your dad and uncles had come up to you and asked to steal Tyson. You tried to object but your uncles were insistent on spending a little time with him. You rolled your eyes and sat back, trying to push the anxious thoughts away. But that wasn't happening when you saw him approaching you. You tried to stand up but he grabbed your arm before you could take a step.
"Y/N, please. Just let me talk to you."
You sighed and sat down, making a point to shrug your arm out of his grip.
"So, who's the guy?"
"Tyson, my boyfriend." He scoffed at your reply. "What?" You asked.
"Nothing, I'm just surprised is all."
"Why?"
"Word on the street is, he's a professional athlete."
"So?"
"So, it's probably not going to last long. I wouldn’t say that you’re really his type."
"You don't know anything about me, Jake. We haven't talked in years. And I would really like to keep it that way, so please, leave me alone."
"Oh, come on, Y/n/N. Don't be like that. I wasn't that bad, you blew things way out of proportion."
"Did I? Because I'm pretty sure if your dad wasn't as good of friends with my uncle that you would have been in jail, not rehab. You're lucky you got off as well as you did. Me? I didn't get off that easy. You really fucked me up. I couldn't get near a guy for a year because of you. You were abusive. You were an asshole. And I wish that I hadn't wasted so many years of my life with you." You weren't really sure where you got the nerve to say all that, because as soon as it came out of your mouth you were scared of how he was going to react. He opened his mouth, but before he could get a word out, you heard a voice behind you.
"I believe the lady has spoken, you can go now."
To your surprise, he walked right away. It was probably Tyson towering over him that scared him off.
"Well, I was feeling badly that I left you out in the open but it appears my girlfriend is a total badass and was fine on her own…" He commented, wrapping his arms around you and placing his chin on top of your head.
"Yeah, well I'm surprised too. I have no idea why I thought that would be a good idea. I'm not sure what would have happened if you hadn't come over."
"Well, hopefully we never have to find out…are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm good. It felt good to get that out."
"Good, fuck that guy."
"Yeah, fuck that guy." You said agreeing with him as you let go. "I need another drink…a stiff one."
"Anything for you, my love."
The rest of the night was pretty uneventful, however you downed a few more drinks and were very drunk. Tyson helped you to the car and then up to your room once you got home.
You stripped out of your dress and pounced on Tyson.
"Whoa, easy there killer." He said catching you and placing you gently on the bed.
You kissed for a few minutes before he climbed off of you. "Alright, bedtime."
"What?! Tyson…" you whined. "I've been waiting so long for this."
“Oh have you?!” He asked, quirking his eyebrows.
“Yes, now pleeeeeease.” She whined.
“You’re too drunk, and besides it’s a little weird with your parents down the hall.”
"Ugh, fiiiine." You pouted, taking your bra off and getting comfy in the bed.
"Can you put a shirt on?"
"Oh my god, Tyson, what is wrong with you?"
"I don't know if I can control myself laying with you naked all night. Just please." He said, throwing you one of his shirts.
You sighed and put his shirt over your head. He climbed into bed next to you and wrapped his arms around you.
"I'm so glad you came with me this weekend, Tys."
"Me too, I don't think I could have lasted much longer just as your neighbor."
"Yeah, it was starting to really get to me…"
"What do you mean?"
"I just was thinking that I was going to have to distance myself because I couldn't suppress my feelings anymore…"
"Well, then I'm definitely glad we had this weekend, I would have been really sad if you did that."
"I don't know if I could live with myself if I made you sad…not to mention I'd have Landy on my ass."
"He's been texting me all weekend."
"Really? Why?"
"Updates on if we're together or not."
"Did you tell him?"
"Nah, I want to mess with him a bit."
You chuckled and rolled your eyes, "what are you gonna do?"
"I'm just going to tell him that we had an awful weekend, we got into a huge fight and we're not even friends anymore."
"You're awful."
"But when I finally tell him that we are together now, he'll be so happy he won't even care."
"Okay, just leave me out of it!"
"Oh you're in it now. We're partners for life."
"For life?"
"I hope so."
"Me too." You said with a small smile. You turned so you were now facing him. "Goodnight, Tys." You said softly, giving him a kiss before snuggling into his chest.
"Goodnight, Y/n/N."
~~~~~~~
The next day you had a big brunch with your family before everyone went their separate ways again. Now that you and Tyson were actually together you were so much more relaxed. Despite the hangovers, everyone was laughing and joking around. You were actually a little sad that you were leaving. But, you were excited to get out of your parent's house and spend some alone time with Tyson.
After what seemed like a never ending goodbye, you and Tyson were finally on the road back to Denver. The car ride was much more pleasurable. Again, you were more relaxed, the weekend was behind you, and you frankly couldn't wait to get back.
When you pulled into the garage, you grabbed all of your bags and headed upstairs. You parted ways so you could put your bags down. A few minutes later, Tyson strolled through your front door. You were grabbing a glass of water in the kitchen, so you got one for him too and then you went back to your room so you could unpack and start some laundry.
"Do you want to bring your laundry over here?" You asked him as you gathered your dirty clothes.
"It's alright, I can do it later."
"I don't mind, Tys. I'm doing it anyway."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, go get it."
Tyson gave you a quick kiss on the cheek and walked off to go get his laundry.
Once you had a load going the two of you went and sat on the couch. You started off just talking but then ended up making out a bit. Tyson was now lying on top of you and things were starting to get heated when his phone rang. "Shit," he muttered as he rummaged around trying to find it on the couch. "It's Landy, I have to answer, I told him to call me."
You rolled your eyes but sat up next to him as he settled back.
"Hey, man." He greeted solemnly. You mouthed for him to put it on speaker.
"Hey, are you home? What happened?"
"Yeah, I'm home…um, things didn't go so well."
"Oh no...what happened?"
"Well, things with her family weren't good to start with. Then the first night we got into a fight about her brothers, and then we got into another argument the next day and I almost just left…I ended up staying but I don't think we're really even friends anymore…"
"WHAT?! Why wouldn't you be friends anymore? What did you do???"
You had to suppress your laughter at Tyson's face when Gabe insinuated it was something he did and not you.
"Why would you think it was something I did?!" Tyson asked, obviously very offended.
"It's Y/N…she just doesn't do anything wrong."
"Okay, well, I don't know. We need a break from each other."
"What the hell, Tyson? Did you even tell her how you feel?"
"I was going to, but I figured telling her after we just had a screaming match wouldn't be the best idea."
"You screamed at each other??? Jesus, what did you fight about?"
"Mat Barzal."
"What?!"
"Yeah he DM'd her on Instagram and it pissed me off."
"Seriously? You screamed at her?! That's not even her fault, man."
"I know, I shouldn't have gotten upset with her, but I did, and now we're just giving each other some space."
"That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Go over to her place right now and make things right."
"I can't, man."
"You can, and you will."
"No, I really can't."
"And why not?"
"Because I'm already over here."
"What?"
"I'm just messing with you, Landy. We're dating now."
"Are you kidding me?! Y/N are you there? Were you in on this??"
"I wanted no part in it!!!"
"Ugh, Tyson, I want to be so mad at you right now, but I'm too happy for you!! It's about time, though. We were going to give you guys like another week, tops, before we took matters into our own hands."
You and Tyson both laughed, "who is we?!" You asked.
"Me, Mel, basically the whole team…"
"Well I'm glad we have lots of supporters." You commented as Tyson pursed his lips.
"NO one will be butting into this relationship…I'm serious Landy."
"I'm sorry that's not the way it works, Josty." Tyson rolled his eyes but you just giggled. "Anyway, I'm glad you two love birds finally figured it out. Have a good rest of your day and use protection!!!"
Tyson rolled his eyes again and hung up on Landy. "We're turning our phones off and spending the rest of the day in the bedroom." He commanded as he put his phone down on the coffee table. He looked at you signifying for you to do the same and you obeyed then followed him into your bedroom.
How is the cowboi doing? :) I’d love to hear about some of their recent adventures.
OH WELL IT'S ME + ALSO MY DICE HATE(/love) ME SO YOU KNOW THEYRE GETTING WHUMPED CONSTANTLY LMAO
there have certainly been some Events Unfolding so those are under the cut, casey since youre in our campaign now NO PEEKING
fair warning this is .... long ..... you have asked me to talk about my dnd character and you simply CANNOT stop the floodwaters now. enter at your own risk
okay so basically the first arc of the campaign kind of kicked off with them getting a vision from their goddess (the grain goddess/goddess of agriculture) saying that she was trapped in a fey gate and that they needed to come rescue her
so erley immediately Rallied The Posse and set off to do that. they NUMEROUS times tried to pray to her, commune with her, basically just get ANY sort of communication or guidance from her, but the dice like to tell their story so i literally never got above an 11 (paladin with only +2 to religion my beloved) and they never heard from her, which was making them. pretty nervous. when it seemed like everyone else was able to talk to their gods just fine
well we eventually figured out that there was a huge gathering of fey in the woods (me: this might be too big for us to fight. what if its like 30 fey? / my dm, glancing at his notes where he has 2000 fey written down: (: ) and basically the fey like. had captured and were trying to kill what was left of the pantheon so they could bring back gaia as the One True God
we found all this out because it turned out several members of the party had been lying about how much they knew of the fey and had personal connections to the fey they'd kept hidden. and erley, who is ALSO HIDING A LOT from the party like. immediately went on the offense and was just generally very unhappy about this
there had been this fey merchant who kept popping up wherever we were trying to sell us magic weapons that seemed tied to us specifically. erley was always VERY suspicious of her and did everything in their power to stop the others from buying her weapons (which we literally had to buy with -5 to a skill point, not money, v sus) to mixed results. but basically when we got to the fey gathering (we called it gaiapalooza) erley rolled a 1 on their survival check to get through the magic field and like. got teleported to her. and they really wanted information from her so they basically were like LEORA I DONT KNOW WHO TO TRUST I THINK MY PARTY HAS BEEN LYING TO ME, CAN YOU TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT THEM CAN YOU SEE US WHEN YOURE NOT THERE? and basically pretended to need a therapy session in order to milk her for information lmao. she also seemed like. REALLY interested in erley and i was also very nervous about that
and i was RIGHT to be suspicious of her because we found out she WAS ACTUALLY THE BIG BAD and we had to fight her in the arc finale. and several of our party members had rl stuff and were not there, and in game our druid was away casting an 8 hour long spell to try and stop the palooza ceremony, so our party was SUPER nerfed and also as soon as erley realized it WAS actually leora who was behind all of it and she WAS trying to hurt them with those weapons (the weapons were tethers to the gods to be able to kill them basically), they got .... a little angry
and my party found out after irl a year of playing these characters that erley's first level is barbarian :))
so erley raged and did frankly a staggering amount of damage in this fight, and also only stayed up because of rage because they took a LOT of hits. but also. they dont rage FOR A REASON so it sort of took them over and when leora dropped, one of the other pcs ran over to stabilize her as she was making death saves and erley :) maybe :) drove a spear through her heart and killed her :)
and her body immediately just like. overgrew with plants and vines and flowers and basically wrapped the spear in a bed of plants and it was very cinematic and cool
(we have since found out that leora was like. actually an aspect of gaia so. that is. interesting)
of course then erley popped out of rage and was like FUCK this is why i dont do this, i went too far, it always goes too far, THIS is why im ashamed of this, and just got very emo boi about it. so they used their last spell slot to cast restoration on the space they had fought in and reached out to their goddess, having just saved her and the rest of the pantheon like she had asked them to
and i rolled a nat 1!!!
(the dm was like "you have committed this violent act, you feel so low and so bad and in need of guidance, and reach out to your goddess. and the absolute lack of a response just makes you feel empty inside" and i was like :) oh :) okay cool :) you love to see that with your paladins huh)
at this point the druid came back in and, instead of erley like. examining any of their own shit immediately lashed out at her and was like "why did you lie to me about the fey, why did you lie about why you were here, why ARE you here because i realize now it wasnt to help me"
and at that point ONE OF THE FEY QUEENS WALKED IN and the druid was like "... mother ..." and we were all :O
so it turns out the fey queen is her birth mom but had like? kidnapped one of the children of her firbolg tribe and was holding her hostage and the druid was on a quest to find her and bring her back
so erley :) felt :) even more bad about that :) and very shamedly pledged their help to her, and basically was like "as long as youre on this noble quest i will follow you if you'll have me"
so we're on our second arc now, which is traveling across the country to go meet the fey queen and get this kid back. as we were traveling my dm had me roll religion and a luck check and i got a 21 ON RELIGION FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER and a 6 luck. and he was like "you dont usually dream, but you have a nightmare. you know this nightmare was given to you, it was divinely inspired, but you dont know who sent it" and it was just erley killing leora over and over and over again. so they were like. well fuck
(my dm also messaged me privately and we talked and he was like. yeah you can get rid of your oath of devotion and change it to oath of the ancients, i am not telling you or erley why the subclass has changed and you also might get nerfed later. also level up barbarian for the next fight)
so erley was. feeling PRETTY DANG BAD and very guilty and stressed and all that. they did also realize their barbarian side was getting stronger which, considering their backstory is all tragic barbarian shit they were NOT happy about. i was fully prepared to have them be more ostracized from the party and go into full angst mode, but then the druid actually like. pulled them aside and explained why she had hidden information from them, and had a very sweet conversation with them and held their hand and it was VERY touching (she also had the baller line "you think your goddess can hear you and she's not answering. but maybe you're talking in a whisper and she needs to hear you scream")
we had another fight (we're level 7 and my dm told us after it was a cr 32 fight like. dude??? what the fuck?????) and once again erley didnt go down only because of rage
THEY ALSO UNINTENTIONALLY CAST MISTY STEP (which is an ancients spell they didnt have before) and were like WELL NO TIME TO UNPACK WHAT THAT WAS RIGHT NOW, HAVE TO NOT DIE
after the battle was over i asked to roll a check to figure out why i had access to that spell and got :) yeah you guessed it :) another nat 1 :) so erley has literally no idea how they cast that or what it could mean. we just had a new pc introduced who is a sorcerer so erley is definitely going to talk to her and see if she knows anything. because they are FULLY IN THE DARK about their subclass change or what that means in game
we're also (because of the fucking cr 32 fight) going to be leveling up again soon, and babey you KNOW im leveling barbarian. after rage kept me up and then rolling another nat 1 religion check, and also me the player not knowing whats up with their goddess/magic, i simply cant level paladin rn. so im BETWEEN A FEW SUBCLASS OPTIONS and ive been thinking them over but i think it really depends how the next few games go
my FULL ANGST option was to make them level into zealot barbarian like their awful dad, but i thought that made the least sense in universe rn
secondary angst option is to level into berserker, which i think fits pretty closely with how i've been roleplaying the rage so far. trading off an extra attack for a level of exhaustion fits pretty closely. also whump central
the NICE option is to have them be a totem warrior barbarian, and have both their paladin steed and their totem be a bull :) (they are a cowboi after all) i think thats the closest i can marry their two classes and potentially have some healthy growth for them, let them see that the rage doesnt HAVE to be a bad thing, that being a barbarian isnt something they HAVE to be ashamed of. reskinning the bear totem would give them resistance to all damage but psychic while raging, and im planning on taking the tough feat, so theyd pretty much be ... an unstoppable tank. plus i can still divine smite while in rage so theyd be VERY powerful
and now youre all caught up on my very special boi :))))) bet you didnt expect quite that much of an infodump but. listen. listen im simply obsessed with dnd i cannot help it. any chance to talk about my characters i WILL TAKE IN A HEARTBEAT (thank u for prompting my ramble lmao)
Don’t Leave Me
Pairing: Kelly Severide x (female) Reader
Word Count: 1717
Author’s Note: This was requested, the request asked that it be based on the Season Three episode ‘I am the Apocalypse’, I haven’t seen this episode in a while now and couldn’t find it online, so I apologize for any mistakes and I sincerely hope that this is what the lovely anon that requested it was hoping for, and I hope everyone enjoys this. And for the sake of this story, to make this work, Kelly never married Brittney.
Trigger Warning(s): Explosion, surgery, injury, mention of character death (Shay), near death experience, cussing, yelling
Disclaimer: I don’t owe nor am I affiliated with any of the Chicago shows, I just like to play with the characters
Summary: Based on the episode ‘I am the Apocalypse’. Y/N is a trauma surgeon working at the hospital and when Kelly is injured after the grenade goes off, she operates on him, even though they’ve been secretly going out for over a year, thus putting her career on the line if anyone found out.
Y/N = Your Name
Y/LN = Your Last Name
Tumblr media
You lived in Chicago for nearly a year before you met Kelly. Despite the fact that you had been in the same place at the very least two dozen times. You being a trauma surgeon, you worked at Gaffney, and frequented Molly’s. However, you didn’t meet until you’d been there nearly a year, and then it was by complete accident that he bumped into you at the bar on a fairly busy night.
And as cliche as it sounds, the moment your eyes met there were sparks.
Now it was a year and a half later and you were still together, exclusive yet hardly anyone knew that the two of you were together, only a handful of people. It wasn’t like the two of you were trying to keep it a secret, it’s just that with the two of you having such demanding jobs, the time you spent together was mostly at either your place or his.
Casey and Shay knew, and you were unaware of whether Kelly had told anyone else or not.
You tried to be there for him when Shay died, and you were, as much as he’d allow you to be. He tried to push you away, but you wouldn’t let him, not completely at least. It made you worry that he wasn’t as serious about you as you thought, but you chalked it up to the fat that he was grieving.
As time passed, the worry didn’t go away, but you kept reminding yourself that he was still with you.
Today was supposed to be another ordinary day. Just like every other day at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. Sure they weren’t the exact same, but there was a routine. People needed life saving surgeries, and you did the operating. It was usually fairly busy due, but today was exceptionally busy.
However, today was going to be very different. You didn’t know it when you woke up that morning, but it was.
You didn’t know what happened, but you heard the explosion. Immediately your stomach twisted and you were left with a nasty taste in your mouth, like you knew something really bad happened.
You hurried to the source of the sound, pushing through people trying to go both ways, towards and away from the explosion. You saw him there, bloody and unconscious, and your heart shattered.
It happened in a blur, one moment you were checking for a pulse and the next you were operating on your boyfriend with Brett and Mills trying to save Kelly’s life while everyone watched. You could hear your heartbeat as you pulled pieces of shrapnel out of Kelly’s body.
Don’t do this to me. Don’t leave me. Not like this.
It was like a mantra replaying in your head. Begging him to stay with you as you tried your hardest to save him. You knew his job was dangerous. You knew he’d been injured before, that he was no stranger to getting hurt and putting his life on the line. But you never really thought you would lose him, at least not like this. If anything, you thought you’d lose him by him breaking up with you, not by him dying.
“Stats are dropping.” You heard Brett’s voice.
“Shit.” You muttered under your breath as you continued to pull shrapnel from your boyfriend’s body. You thought you had it all, and that was when he started bleeding.
It took you a little while, but you finally got it under control and were able to save him. You stitched him up and he was moved into a room.
The hardest part was having to go about your day like everything was fine, like your boyfriend wasn’t lying unconscious in a hospital bed.
As soon as your shift was over, you made a beeline for Kelly’s room, only to be stopped by Goodwin. You halted in your tracks.
“I thought your shift was over, Dr. Y/LN.”
You hesitated. “It is.” You answered after a moment.
She motioned for you to walk with her, which you did. “You know what you did today was wrong, right?”
You swallowed hard, keeping your eyes straight forward as you matched her pace. You nodded to her.
“You could get yourself into a lot of trouble.” She continued, stopping and turning to face you.
You stopped as well.
“You’re a good doctor, don’t screw it up.” And with that she walked away.
You breathed out a sigh of relief and headed towards Kelly’s room again. You paused before stepping inside.
He was awake and sitting up in bed, his eyes met yours when you walked in.
“Hey.” You breathed out in surprise.
“Hey.” Kelly replied back. “Heard you saved my life earlier.”
You shrugged a bit and smiled at him. “Just doing my job.” You commented as you walked over to him.
He reached out his hand to you, and smiled when you took his hand in yours. He squeezed your hand gently.
“You scared me today.” You whispered after a moment.
He brought your hand to his lips and kissed it gently. “I’m sorry.”
You swallowed hard, standing next to his bed and looking down. “What were you thinking, Kel?” You asked meekly.
He hesitated. “I was trying to save as many people as I could.”
“But you almost died.” You stated, looking up to meet his eyes.
Kelly’s eyes met yours and he took a deep breath to steady himself, no sense in getting worked up over this, especially since he just got out of surgery not two hours before. “I know.” He said calmly.
You stared at him, mouth agape, trying to make sense of how he could be so calm. “Do you have a death wish or something? I know losing Shay was hard on you but-”
“Stop.” He said, causing you to stop mid sentence, shaking his head. You regretted bringing Shay up instantly.
“I’m sorry.” You mumbled out, trying to remedy the situation any way you could.
He shook his head again. “Don’t.” He whispered, sighing. He went quiet for a while, leaving you fearing the worst. “You’re right.” He spoke after a moment. “Losing her was hard, it still is, but she’d kick my ass if she knew what I did today.”
You fought back a smile. “I don’t know, you did save a lot of people, I think she would’ve let it slide.”
He laughed and shook his head, wincing slightly. “Don’t do that, don’t make me laugh, it hurts.”
“Serves you right for scaring me like you did.” You meant it as a joke, but your voice was small and held no humor.
“Hey.” He said quietly after a moment to get your attention back on him. “I’m fine, I’m right here. You made sure of that.”
You looked at him and nodded some, looking down again.
Kelly sighed. “Y/N.”
“What?” You asked quietly.
“Look at me.” Kelly said softly.
You met his eyes again. “Okay, I’m looking at you.”
Kelly smiled slightly. “I’m sorry.”
“You said that already.” You told him and shook your head. “You don’t have to be sorry, you were just trying to save people.”
“No.” Kelly shook his head. “I’m sorry for pushing you away.”
You looked at him again. “You were hurting-”
Kelly shook his head again. “I still shouldn’t have pushed you away.”
“It’s okay.” You said quietly.
“No it’s not.” Kelly countered you, still watching you. “I love you, and I shouldn’t have pushed you away.”
You paused for a moment and ten smiled softly. “I love you too.” You said softly. “I was worried you were gonna leave me.”
“Not gonna happen.” Kelly told you, a grin forming. “You’re stuck with me.”
You matched his grin. “Is that so?”
He nodded. “Oh yeah.” He pulled you closer to him and kissed you gently.
You smiled when you pulled back and sat on the edge of the bed.
“I saw her.” Kelly said after a moment.
“Oh?” You looked at him, already knowing who he was talking about.
He nodded. “And I know it was probably just my brain playing tricks on me, but it brought me a sense of comfort.”
You smiled softly. “Either way, whether it was just your brain or if she came to visit you, I’m glad it helped.”
He smiled and took your hand. “You know, she thought you were too good for me.”
You laughed softly and shook your head. “I’m sure she was just teasing you.”
He nodded. “I’m sure, but I think there was some truth to that.”
You rolled your eyes and shook your head again. “Whatever.”
“I’m serious.” Kelly told you, taking your hand in his. “You’re amazing, Y/N. You are amazing in so many ways. You’re smart, kind, not to mention gorgeous.”
“Kel.” You cut him off softly, looking at him with a gentle smile.
He looked at you again. “I’m being honest.”
You rolled your eyes. “You’re pretty amazing yourself.” You told him softly. “You’re brave, sometimes stupidly so, but still. Handsome, kind hearted.”
Kelly laughed softly. “Alright, enough of the mushy stuff. When do you think I can get out of here?”
“Not for a few days, at least, you need to heal up.” You told him. “I know that’s not what you wanna hear, but it’s for the best.”
“I’ll behave.” Kelly promised you, a smirk finding its way onto his face.
“That smirk tells me otherwise, what’re you planning?” You raised a brow.
“Not planning anything.” He shook his head.
“Uh-huh, I don’t buy it.” You informed him, getting ready to grill him until you heard a knock and someone clear their throat.
“I’m not interrupting anything, am I?” Casey asked from the doorway.
You turned to look at him over your shoulder. “Nah.” You stood up, turning to face your boyfriend. “I’m gonna go home and take a shower, I’ll be back in an hour.” You leaned over to kiss his cheek.
“Take your time, I’m not going anywhere.” Kelly told you with a smile, watching as you walked out.
Casey smiled at you as you left the room, walking into the room. “You doing okay?”
Kelly nodded to him, lost in his thoughts.
“Everyone’s worried about you.” Casey told him, waiting until Kelly finally looked at him. “So when are you planning on asking her?”
Kelly smiled. “As soon as I get out of here.”
Casey nodded. “About time.”
This Passage Contains Potentially: swearing, violence, blood, angst, whump, fluff and smutty content. Chapter-specific warning: This chapter contains mention of pregnancy symptoms such as morning sickness, and food cravings as well as mood swings
Summary: Kirby tries to survive the new developments in her life, Rod becoming slightly overprotective doesn't really help much.
Kirby's POV:
After the show on Sunday (24th June) Roddy decided to invite Orton and Schultz out to dinner with us.
"So you got your woman pregnant?"
"Yes, David. Why'd you ask?" I answered for Roddy
"When's it due?"
"Well, Schultzy," I had to do some calculations in my head, "Around the end of next Feb."
"So, Rod, Kirby, y'all got any ideas for names yet?" Orton quizzed
"I ain't got no names, you got any names, Kirbs?"
"I like the name 'Casey' it's a good, neutral name, y'know."
"Your woman's a quicker thinker than you, boy."
"Yeah, Rod, ya married a feisty one."
"As Kirby'll tell ya lads, it's a marriage of equals."
We finished our meals, paid and left, heading to the next show. Tuesday, Twenty-Sixth, Providence, Rhode Island. Then the next show, Wednesday, Twenty-Seventh, Columbus, Ohio. After the Wednesday show Rod and myself spent some time with Orndorff and Orton. Then the next show, Thursday, Twenty-Eighth, Rod was meant to do a show in Dayton, Ohio, without me but he no-showed.
"Rod, McMahon called, something about a show in Dayton?"
"Oh, I forgot to tell them I was looking after you."
"Roddy, I'm fine, you should've done the show."
"Kirbs, I care more about making sure ya alright than doing every show, I need to know that you're okay."
"Roderick. Would you listen to me?!"
"Kirby, don't you go telling me what to do!"
Rod had gotten right up into my face, soon he seemed to notice the tears welling up in my eyes.
"Kirby, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."
"Woah, Rod. Rod, it's alright, you're okay, Hon. Roddy, come here."
I pulled him into my arms, feeling him gently caress my stomach.
"Kirbs, d'ya think I'll make a good father?"
"Of course you'll make a good father, Rod."
The following day, the moment I woke up I had to rush to the bathroom and throw up, Rod rushed in after me, checking that I was alright and helping me clean myself off. We had to attend a show in Elizabeth, New Jersey the next day. The next show after that was Tuesday, the Second of July, Glen Falls, New York, after the show Rod asked me to come with him to a local bar to meet an 'old friend' of his, or in other words, Rod was asking me to keep him calm.
"Kirby, this is Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine. Greg, my beautiful wife, Kirby Piper."
"You're the gal I keep hearing about from people."
"Well, that depends on what you've heard."
"I heard that you were, or are, pregnant."
"That's true," Orton butted in, "Rod and I got told that on TV."
"Yeah, Piper's Pit, last month. I'm glad you found yourself a person who makes you happy, Rod."
"I, uh, I watched the matches you two had in Eighty-three."
"What did you think of them?"
"They're good, excellent even, though, the dog collar match. I can't watch that ever again."
"Why not?"
"Cause I worry about you, every time I watch it, Roddy."
The next show was Thursday, the fifth, in Hazelton, Pennsylvania. Jimmy Snuka and Roddy. I accompanied Rod to ringside, grabbing a seat at ringside. I had to run to the back about five minutes into the match. Rod rushed to the back after me, I could hear him getting counted out.
"Kirbs, Kirby, are you alright?"
"Rod, Rod, c'mere you idiot."
"Ya tired, Honey?"
I placed my forehead in the crook of his neck, "I'm exhausted right now."
"C'mon, I'll take ya back to the hotel and let ya rest."
Rod drove us back to the hotel and Orndorff stopped by with a new guy.
"Hi Paul."
"Hey, Kirbs, are you alright?"
"I'm better than earlier."
"She was non-stop apologising to me on the way here. Adrian, this is my wonderful wife, Kirby."
"Hi, you're, uhm, Dick Murdoch's tag partner?"
"Yeah, Adrian Adonis, nice to meet ya."
"Kirby Piper, pleasure to meet you too, Adrian. Rod?"
"Yes honey?"
"Can I slap Snuka?"
Rod let out a chuckle, "If you want to, hon. It would make my day."
Orndorff and Adonis shared a knowing look before Paul spoke up.
"Why do you two want to attack Snuka?"
"Because he's a dickhead." I stated flatly before covering my mouth in shock, "I didn't mean to say that."
"Why not, you're right. If he hurts or threatens you, he's dead meat, honey."
"Rod, don't. You can't be in your children's life if you're locked away in prison."
"Children, plural?"
"We all know that this child ain't gonna be the last." Adrian added
"True. Thank you Adrian."
"So, what was your reaction to the pregnancy, Kirby?"
"Uhm, well, if I'm honest with you, Adrian, at first I couldn't believe it. I think my first words were 'oh no'."
"Your first reaction was 'Oh no'?" Rod stated, sounding slightly hurt
"Rod, I wrestle for a living. Pregnancy lasts between eight and ten months. That means I'm out for a long while."
"Alright. Alright."
"I love you, Roddy."
After Orndorff and Adonis left Rod changed his focus back to me.
"C'mere you," He pulled me towards him, chest to chest, before kissing me roughly and backing me towards the bed, "You sexy goliath."
"You are such a hot head, Roderick."
"You married me though, didn't ya." He hoisted my leg, pressing his groin into mine.
"As if I'd turn you down, my love."
On Saturday (the seventh) I was at ringside, watching Roddy lose by DQ, the moment Rod left the ring he walked over to me, pulling me to my feet only to dip me into a kiss.
After the show we went back to the hotel with Valentine, Adonis and Orndorff.
Me and Paul were in the hotel room just chatting away when we heard a crash from the hallway, followed by several smaller crashes and then a banging at the door.
Greg threw the door open and Paul helped get Adrian and Roddy inside.
"What the fuck happened?"
The room went silent and Greg went to get help as me and Paul watched over Adrian and Roddy.
"Roddy."
No response. I took my shirt off (a plain white T-shirt, which would not be white for much longer) and used it to try and stem the bleeding from the cut on his outer thigh.
"Rod."
He groaned in a pained response
"Roderick, talk to me."
We spent the night in the hospital, Rod needed stitches to the wound on his thigh and Adrian needed stitches to the wound on his right pectoral, Adrian would be in the hospital for two days at the least and both would be back in action by Friday.
Jesse came to visit and Rod introduced him to me and vice versa, introducing me as 'My beloved wife, the mother of my unborn child and the woman who saved my life, twice.'
While Rod slept off the pain in his leg, Jesse raised some questions to me.
"Did you see him get hurt?"
"No, Jesse, I saw the injury after Valentine dropped him on the bed."
"How long have you two been together?"
"We've known each other since January, Schultz introduced us. We started dating each other at the end of January, from the twentieth. Got married on the first of June, not too long after that, he got me pregnant."
"This is the, second, time."
"Second time for what?"
"Roddy being injured."
"Yeah, same leg too."
"Some fans are fucking insane."
"I'm just glad they haven't gone after me, Rod would lose his mind if anything happened to me, or the baby."
"You should hear him in the locker room."
"He's always talking about me?"
"Always, usually to Adonis. Those two are usually stuck to each other by the hip. If he's not with Adonis, he's with Orton, or Schultz, or Orndorff, or Valentine, or even me."
"He constantly talks about me?"
"Either you, or more recently, the baby."
"He's the kindest, most respectful man, I've ever met, Jesse."
"Thank you, baby." Rod mumbled out.
"Roddy," I jumped slightly, rushing from Jesse's side to sit next to Rod on the hospital bed, "Are you alright, my love."
"C'mere," Rod pulled me in, lazily and sloppily kissing me on the lips.
"I, uh, I got you guys this," Jesse handed Roddy a book, "I know it's early, but you can never be too prepared y'know."
After Roddy was released from the hospital, we decided to spend the night alone.
"Roddy, I, good God I don't want this to come off as if I'm scared. Rod, I don't want to let you out of my sight."
"Kirbs, come here," He pulled me into a hug, "If I never let you outta my sight, then ya never have to let me out of your sight."
We slept and I got up earlier than Rod, I did my morning routine before deciding to flick through the parenting book that Jesse gave us.
Around half an hour later I finished going through the book and heard Rod yawn and the hotel bed creak under his weight.
"Morning."
"What a beautiful sight to wake up to."
"Roderick, you charmer. How's the leg, my love?"
"Slowly getting better. Kirbs?"
"Uh huh?"
"Damien said that, your Da, called him, as in Damien. We need to go to our place and pick some stuff up that your Mam and Da sent over."
"If we leave after you get dressed, we can get home, spend Tuesday and Wednesday there and then drive to the show on Thursday so we can be there for Friday."
"I love how your brain works."
"I love you too, Rod."
By the time we got back to the house it had actually taken us around a day and a half, we reached the house, got what mail had accumulated and left for the show in Chicago, getting to a hotel on Thursday night.
I had separated the mail into four stacks, bills, family mail, fan letters, and unsorted as of yet.
"Bills, fan letter, fan letter, somethin' from my family, fan letter, fan letter, family mail, bill."
"Kirbs?"
"Cannae talk right now, Rod. Family mail, fan letter, fan letter, fan letter, family mail."
"Kirby?"
"Cannae talk right now, Roddy. Bill, Bill, fan letter, bill, family mail, fan letter, fan letter."
"Kirby, my love, Kirby?"
"I Can nae talk right now Roderick. Fan letter, Fa-"
Rod cut me off by grabbing my face and kissing me roughly.
"Kirby, you can go through that later, right now, ya need ta sleep, baby."
While Rod was doing the show, I stayed at the hotel, and went through all the mail. I ended up going to a local supermarket and an ATM in order to pay the bills, sending money off to each company and opening my fan letters, many of which were actually hate mail, ignoring the hatred of both me and my husband, I opened some of the mail my family had sent, most of which were small boxes of my things or wedding presents.
Rod walked in with Jesse and Adrian close behind him.
"Oh, there's ma beautiful wife."
"Did ya win, love?"
"Double disqualification."
"Oh, Hon."
"No, it's fine. What's in the mail babe?"
"I've dealt with the bills, uhm, wedding gifts from my family, some of my old stuff from my younger years. I've put most of it in the back of the D200. I haven't opened your fan mail."
"Kirby?"
"Yes, Adrian."
"How's the baby?"
"The baby's fine. How are you guys doing?"
"We're good, Kirbs" Jesse stated, rather matter-of-factly.
We spent around an hour hanging out with Jesse and Adrian before Jesse departed, Adrian stayed with me while Rod went out to get the boys some beer.
"So, Roddy's good to you?"
"Yeah, He's the best man I've ever had in my life. He's not possessive, he's rather protective, especially when he's jealous, he tries his hardest to make sure I'm happy and the baby's okay."
"You know, he's my best friend, right?"
"I suspected that you two were close after seeing you guys stick around each other at a couple shows."
The door swung open and Rod placed an ice cold beer against Adrian's neck.
"Hey, hey. stop that man."
"Boys, don't fight, especially when there's a pregnant woman nearby."
"I'm sorry baby, c'mere."
Rod put the rest of the six pack on the floor and walked over to me, kissing me gently on the forehead and then on the lips, several times, getting needier every time and deepening the kiss, backing me up until he could straddle my lap before realising what he was doing.
"Sorry about that, Adrian. I got a bit carried away. She is the most attractive woman I've ever met."
"Nah, don't worry about it, you two are married. You should show that you love each other, you've got a kid on the way and before ya know it, you'll be parents. Ya kids have gotta know that ya love each other, and that love is meant to be shown, ya know."
Warning: kidnapping.
Happy Reading Dollies.
Hope you all enjoy.
Jay walked into the firestation with a question on his mind but as soon as he saw Kelly that question because irrelevant.
"Where's my sister"? Kelly got up in Jay's face, Jay let out a chuckle but quickly quit as he saw the concern on Kelly's face.
"She's at work. Isn't she"?
"We were supposed to meet at Molly's for lunch. Herrmann gave me the keys to set up for the surprise but she never showed and I've called her but no answer". Kelly sighed, running his hand threw his hair.
"Surprise"?
"Really that's what you got from my sister is missing"? Kelly was fuming, not really at Jay just he wanted to hear from his sister to make sure shes okay.
"If you're really worried I can get a track on her phone or GPS on her car"?
"Yeah, do that. I'm worried something has happened. It's not like her to not answer".
Jay pulled his phone out of his pants pocket and called Adam. Adam quickly done as he was told and found your car was sitting in a towing lot. At first Kelly was relieved but something didn't add up.
"You're sure it says here"? Kelly asked Jay as they got out of the truck and run inside the towing building.
"Yes, it dinged right here. Why"?
"I haven't known Y/N to come to this part of town before". Kelly looked around the sketchy place. No one was around. The place was old and wore down. He had a eerie feeling.
"Where the hell are these people"? Jay slammed his hand down on the counter, dust rolling up. Jay coughed as his phone dinged.
"It's Adam. The place went out of business five years ago and no one has reopened it. So why is her car here then"? Jay looked out the window in the office, he saw a man coming to the front, he had a crowbar in his hand. Jay pulled his gun and walked outside before the guy could come into the office.
"Police! Put the crowbar down now". Jay yelled ordering the guy. He dropped the crowbar instantly.
"I didn't do anything".
"We didn't say you did". Kelly said coming out of the office, walking over to Jay. He eyed the man greasy man in front of him, he knew something was up and it wasnt the heat.
"I'm looking for a car you have in your lot. A red ford mustang". Jay said.
"I don't have any car like that". The man shook his head.
"Well I have proof that it is here and if you don't let me see it. I'll tear this place apart". Jay warned.
"Then I'll strick a match". Kelly threatened.
"Oookay. I picked uup a car early this morrrning". The man stuttered out, his hand trembled.
"Lead the way". Jay motioned his gun.
Jay and Kelly followed the guy down the lines of cars until they got to your car. Kelly searched frantically. Nothing. Your purse wasnt there, no phone, keys. Nothing.
"Where did you pick this up"?
"At a bar, it was parked in a no parking zone".
"Did someone call you to move it"?
The guy shook his head and swatted a fly away.
"What bar"? Jay asked lowering his gun.
"It started with a M".
"Mollys"? Kelly and Jay said together.
"Yeah. That's it".
" Y/N was at Molly's, so where is she now"?
"Was there a girl with the car"?
The man stopped and thought for a moment, tilting his head. Like he was coming up with an excuse. "No".
"Well thanks anyways. We'll have someone get it out". Jay said about to leave.
"No, you can't". The man stepped in front of Jay and Kelly.
"Why? It's not yours. It belongs to my sister".
"You can't have it". The man yelled.
"Okay. Take it easy". Jay said trying to calm him. Everything was quiet and settled. Then Kelly heard a thump.
"What was that"? He started to look around.
"Nothing. I didn't hear anything". The man started to back up from them.
The thump happened again. Now Jay heard it.
"Where is it coming from"?
That's when the guy took off running, dashing down the roll of cars and zig zagging. Jay went after him, hopping over car hoods and shooting off a warning shot.
"Stop"!!
While Jay ran after his suspicious witness, Kelly followed the sound of the thump. As he walked he got closer, closer to oil barrels.
"Y/N!!! If you can hear me keep making that noise". Kelly started opening the oil drums.
The closer he got to you the more your heart raced, you were going to live.
You kept pounding on the side of the barrel. Not wanting to stop even when you felt your energy vanish. Then the top opened and the sun light made you squint. Kelly yelled for Jay while he helped you out. Taking out a knife Kelly cut the tape on your wrist, and gently unraveling the tape from your mouth.
You fell into Kelly's arms crying, he held you tightly.
"You're okay now. I promise". He picked you up bridal style, you wrapped your arms around his neck.
He took you to the truck, turned on the air full blast and handed you a cold bottle of water from Jay's cooler. You gulped in down and started stripping your clothes. Your body temp was high and you needed to cool off. Kelly called for a ambulance and Jay's boss Voight. Kelly didn't want this guy to just go to prison he wanted him to suffer first.
The ambulance rushed in taking you and giving you fluids. Jay finally came back with a man in cuffs. Jay looked exhausted as he threw the guy to the ground.
"I had to chase this fucker ten blocks. I don't know how he survived". Jay panted, Kelly handed him a water. He walked over to you. You were finally coming back to yourself.
"You okay"? Jay asked sitting down beside you on the gurney.
"I'll be okay". You laid your head on his shoulder.
"What happened"?
"I went to Molly's early with supplies, Herrmann gave me a key because he knew Kelly would be running late. As I was finishing up with taking things inside. This guy came out of nowhere and started loading my car up to his tow truck. I asked if I just moved it since I wasn't going to be there long but he said no. So I was about to call Jay and then he said I could just go with him and pay to get it out. At first I didn't want to but I really needed my car, I still had stuff to get. So I went with him. When we got there, something was off and I didn't go into the office. He said he would get the papers. I waited about ten minutes for him but I couldn't see him in the office and that's the last thing I remember. Then I woke up in a oil drum".
"You should have called me". Jay wrapped his arm around you.
"I know, I should've. I'm sorry".
"It's okay now. You're safe".
"Sorry to interrupt but we know who he is". Voight told the three of you and it took you by surprise.
"He's wanted in Washington for a double homicide. Assault and battery in Ohio and now a kidnapping and tempted murder of a police officers wife. Plus, three murders in Chicago".
"Three? Who"? You asked.
"The owners and their son. He was thirteen. It was given to the new owners by his grandfather. They were getting ready to reopen it after the grandfather died".
"Oh god". You gasped, your stomach turned and you felt as if you were going to be sick.
"I could have been the fourth".
"But you're not. You're safe now. He's going away for a very very long time". Jay reassured you.
"I can't believe this. If it wasn't for me being so trusting of other people, he would have gotten away with it and murder some other pour soul".
"You saved alot of people. Now the family's can have closure". Voight smiled and walked off.
"The paramedics are ready to take you to the hospital". Kelly said getting you out of your horror daze.
"In one second". "You coming with me"? You asked Jay who was getting off the ambulance.
"I'll be there in a few. I have something to do. I'll get Adam to sit will you until I get there".
"Yeah me too, I'll call Casey to stay with you". Kelly and Jay nodded to each other.
"Okay. Um, Jay"?
"Yeah, baby"?
"Will you marry me? I know this is probably not how you pictured it cause its not how I did but I don't want to be away from you any longer than I have to".
"That's what the surprise was"?
"Yeah. I was going to ask you tonight". You say wiping a tear away.
"I was going to ask you the same thing tonight. Will you marry me"? He asked getting back into the ambulance, pulling out a black box with a diamond ring.
"Yes, yes I will marry you". You kissed his lips softly and sweetly.
Jay slid the ring on your finger. "Yes I will marry you too". Jay chuckled, his head rested on your forehead.
"I love you so much". You whispered to him.
"I love you. Get some rest and I'll see you in a little bit". He kissed your lips once more, getting out of the ambulance for the paramedic to get in and close the doors. The ambulance rode off. Jay and Kelly looked at each other than to the man that almost ruin their lives, then make to each other. They were going to make sure he knew who he fucked with.
CHICAGO FIRE – ONE MINUTE (S01E04)
Tumblr media
                                         [ambo door shuts]
Gabby Dawson: Why didn’t you call Alexa back? I liked her.
Leslie Shay: You know the joke - what does a lesbian bring on a
                     second date?
                     A moving van.
Gabby Dawson: You have major commitment issues.
Leslie Shay: Yeah, yeah.
Gabby Dawson: Can you please put this out in front. I’m gonna
                           take this stuff to the kitchen.
Leslie Shay: All right. I’m not carving this thing.
TV: Some developing local news now…
Peter Mills: Yo, do we have any spices around here besides salt
                   and pepper?
                                            [tv in background]
Otis Zvonecek: What else do you need besides salt and pepper?
Gabby Dawson: [groans]
Peter Mills: Wow.
Gabby Dawson: This is for the trick-or-treaters. And heads up…
                            Halloween is Chief Boden’s favourite holiday.
Peter Mills: [chuckles]
Gabby Dawson: Oh, I’m dead serious.
                                      [plastic bag rustling]
Otis Zvonecek: We can see where you’re putting that.
Gabby Dawson: Hey, nobody touches the candy. We ran out last
                           year.
Christopher Herrmann: I graciously donate my in-laws television,
                                       and I cannot get a piece of candy?
Gabby Dawson: [scoffs]
                           I keep coriander, cumin and bay leaves in the back
                           cupboard.
                           Um, I used up all the saffron last time I cooked.
                                      [alarm beeps, PA buzzes]
(Over PA): Engine 51, Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61.
                 Warehouse fire, 6620 Oak Park.
                                 [sirens wailing, horns honking]
                                     [squad door slams shut]
Matt Casey: This is the old Triskin warehouse.
Kelly Severide: Looks like the door’s been pried open. Could be
                         squatters inside.
Chief Boden: Smoke’s already coming out pretty quick. We don’t
                      have long on this one.
                      (into radio) Engine 51, give me a 2 ½ in the front
                      door, cover the search team. Truck 81, open up
                      the back, vent the skylights.
                      Kelly, give me that primary search.
Kelly Severide: Yep.
Matt Casey: Cruz and Otis, raise the aerial and take out the
                     skylights. Herrmann and Mills, let’s open up the
                     back and get in there.
                     Let’s go.
                                         [indistinct chatter]
Kelly Severide: Smoke’s bad. Get the doors down fast.
Matt Casey: Strike.
                                      [door creaking open]
Matt Casey: Done.
Christopher Herrmann: Going left.
Kelly Severide: Mind your step.
                         Call out.
Christopher Herrmann: Fire department! Anyone in here?
                                        [indistinct chatter]
Chief Boden: That smoke’s turning ugly.
Kelly Severide: Fire department! Anyone in here?
Christopher Herrmann: There’s someone in the back!
                                        Let’s go!
Peter Mills: Hey guys, over here.
                   Fire department! Anybody here? Call out!
Firefighter: I got you. Come on.
                                     [groaning & coughing]
Kelly Severide: Hang on to me. We’re gonna get you out.
Victim 1: [coughing]
Gabby Dawson: We got him.
Peter Mills: Fire department!
                             [wood crashing, glass breaking]
Peter Mills: Unh!
Chief Boden: (over radio) All companies, evacuate the building.
Christopher Herrmann: Come on, Mills, let’s go.
Chief Boden: It’s gonna flash.
Matt Casey: Herrmann and Mills still inside?
Chief Boden: Yep.
                      (over radio) Repeat, evacuate immediately.
                      (into radio) Come on, now, guys. We gotta get out of
                       there. Let’s go.
                      Come on, men.
                                                [coughing]
Christopher Herrmann: Come on, Mills.
Peter Mills: There’s a guy still inside. I saw him.
                   Chief, give me one more minute to go back in there.
Chief Boden: No, it’s over. No more minutes.
Peter Mills: H-He could be alive. Just give me one more minute. I
                   know I can get to him. I know.
Chief Boden: You’re not going anywhere. This building’s about to
                       flash.
Peter Mills: Chief, I could get…
Chief Boden: Enough!
                      (into radio) All officers, take count of your firefighters.
                      Nobody goes back in.
                      All members out of the collapse zone. Everybody,
                      back up.
                      Back up.
Matt Casey: Let’s go.
                                       [indistinct radio chatter]
Radio Dispatcher: Company 16 and Truck 22…[continues
                               indistinctly]
                               Roger that 25, Ladder 47, Truck 34…[continues
                               indistinctly]…we’re all clear
                                           [fire explosion]
                                         [glass shattering]
Chief Boden: (into radio) Fire up the water cannons.
                                          [water spraying]
                                         [indistinct chatter]
                                           - Title Screen -
Lee Henry Herrmann: C’mon! Let’s go!
Cindy Herrmann: Boys!
                             Boys!
                                       [indistinct shouting]
Christopher Herrmann: Hey, give her back the wand. Now!
                                       Hey, hey. Here you go.
                                        Ah.
Lee Henry Herrmann: Man.
Christopher Herrmann: I thought you were gonna be a superhero.
Luke Herrmann: I am. I’m a superboy.
Christopher Herrmann: That’s the whole costume?
                                        That’s pretty half-assed.
Cindy Herrmann: Christopher!
Christopher Herrmann: What? He can’t put on a cape?
Cindy Herrmann: He doesn’t have a…
                                            [kissing sound]
Christopher Herrmann: All right.
                                       I walked in on your dad again…on the can.
Cindy Herrmann: [sighs]
Christopher Herrmann: The man refuses to lock the door.
Cindy Herrmann: And you refuse to knock.
                             [sighs] This came.
Christopher Herrmann: Aw, crap.
Luke Herrmann: Were you there, daddy?
Christopher Herrmann: Yep, and we kicked that fire’s butt.
                                        Love you, okay?
Cindy Herrmann: Bye.
Christopher Herrmann: Bye.
Luke Herrmann: You can’t leave. I put a force field around the door.
Christopher Herrmann: If you had a cape on, I might believe that.
                                       Come on, I’m late.
Luke Herrmann: No.
Christopher Herrmann: Lukey, hey.
                                       I told you, you don’t have to worry about
                                       me so much.
Luke Herrmann: What if you get hurt again?
Christopher Herrmann: I’ll get better, just like last time. And like
                                       you did, when your bike went over.
                                       Us Herrmanns’, we’re tough bastards.
Luke Herrmann: [whispers] You said bastards.
Christopher Herrmann: [whispers] Don’t tell mom.
                                       [sighs] Okay.
                                       [whispers] Come on. Come on buddy.
Luke Herrmann: [whispers] Okay.
Christopher Herrmann: I love you buddy.
                                                cutscene
Kids: Happy Halloween!
Chief Boden: Happy Halloween.
                     Guess what? After school, I’m gonna break out a
                     bottomless bowl of treats.
                     Gonna come back and get ‘em?
                     You’ll bring ‘em back?
Kids & Adults: Yeah.
Chief Boden: Go on, then. Get out of here and come back.
                      Y’all look great.
Kids: Thank you!
                                               cutscene
Peter Mills: Yo Lieutenant, can I ask you something?
Matt Casey: Sure.
Peter Mills: In general, when Chief says, ‘everybody out of a
                   building now’, how much time do we really have?
                   A minute? 30 seconds? What?
Matt Casey: Don’t beat yourself up, Mills.
Peter Mills: See, the things is, I was closest to the victim. I-I could
                   see him, you know? I…
Matt Casey: When Chief says “now”, he means now. Not 30
                     seconds, not any seconds. Got it?
Peter Mills: Yeah. Yeah, I figured. Thanks.
                                                    cutscene
                                           [locker door slams]
Kelly Severide: Ah!
                                             [punches locker]
Jose Vargas: Morning Lieutenant.
Kelly Severide: Morning.
Jose Vargas: You get hurt the other night?
Kelly Severide: Mind not turning the locker room into a chat room?
Jose Vargas: Yeah.
                                                  cutscene
Joe Cruz: Just take the damn piece of candy already. She won’t
                notice.
Mouch: I’m not climbing onto the counter.
Joe Cruz: Hey, did you guys hear that Casey’s gonna…testify
                 against Detective Voight’s son?
Otis Zvonecek: Apparently, Dawson’s brother says it’s a risky
                          move, and…Voight’s a dangerous son of a
                          bitch.
Mouch: I wouldn’t put my ass on the line like that.
             Uh Lieutenant, you need any help with the Detective
             Voight situation, you let me know. When I became
             union rep, they…sent me a bunch of brochures.
Matt Casey: I’m good, thanks. Just need to testify at the
                    arraignment, once it’s set.
Christopher Herrmann: You see this crap?
Peter Mills: Why is it crap?
                    I just mean that that’s what happened, isn’t it? So…
Christopher Herrman: Where is the headline about how we busted
                                     our humps and saved three guys, huh?
Chief Boden: Okay, everybody, listen up.
                      Today, our very own Jose Vargas transfers from Truck
                       to Squad.
                       As of now, he’s officially a member of Rescue Squad
                       3.
                                        [clapping & cheering]
All: Whoo!
Mouch: Big time Vargas.
Otis Zvonecek: Make sure to bow next time you walk by.
Matt Casey: Best of luck.
Jose Vargas: Thanks, Lieutenant.
Nicki Rutkowski: Hey, Lieutenant Casey, I just saw your car out
                             front.
                             Something happened to it.
Matt Casey: What the hell?
Joe Cruz: This is why I can’t stand Halloween, man. The punks,
                 they go wild.
Matt Casey: My gym bag got lifted.
Christopher Herrmann: Right in front of the station.
                                       Call the cops. File a report.
Matt Casey: Yeah, I should.
                                   [alarm beeping, PA buzzes]
(Over PA): Truck 81, Squad 3. House fire, 220 South Kilbourn.
                                            [sirens wailing]
                                        [squad door shuts]
Kelly Severide: [into radio] Fire is out on arrival. Hold on incoming
                          companies. We’ll do a little overhaul.
                          You okay, ma’am?
Lady 1: I’m fine.
            I must have dropped a cigarette or something. I was
            cleaning out the garage. So stupid of me.
Kelly Severide: Well, good job putting it out.
                          We were here a few weeks ago. Fire in your car,
                          parked out front.
Lady 1: The car is old.
Kelly Severide: Two fires in two weeks?
Lady 1: Bad luck always comes in streaks.
Man 1: Yo, yo, afternoon officer.
Kelly Severide: I need to check inside, make sure the fire didn’t
                          get into the adjoining wall.
Lady 1: All right.
                                            [train passing by]
Kelly Severide: No heat. That’s good.
                          Huh.
Lady 1: Me and my late husband.
Kelly Severide: How long were you married?
Lady 1: 45 years, till he passed.
Kelly Severide: Wow. What’s the secret?
Lady 1: I never asked.
Kelly Severide: [chuckles]
Lady 1: Just counted my blessings every day [chuckles]
                                              [door opens]
Capp: She say what happened?
Kelly Severide: Mm-mm.
                                   [laughing in the background]
                                                cutscene
Christopher Herrmann: What the hell happened?
Leslie Shay: It went out.
Mouch & Otis Zvonecek: What?
Chief Boden: It just need a new cord. Nobody panic.
Leslie Shay: Go ahead. Try it.
                                             [remote clicks]
                                            [applause on tv]
Otis Zvonecek: Yes.
Chief Boden: Ah.
Otis Zvonecek: Halloween horror marathon, channel 11.
Mouch: We are back.
Marc Thorne: My brother died because he was homeless and
                       poor. If he had been a firefighter or a banker in
                       a fancy apartment, they would have found a
                       way to save him. It was recorded on cell phone:
[video recording…]
Peter Mills: Chief, give me one more minute to go back in there.
Chief Boden: No, it’s over. No more minutes.
Peter Mills: H-He could be alive. Just give me one more minute. I
                   know I can get to him. I know.
Chief Boden: Not going anywhere. This building’s about to flash.
Peter Mills: Chief, I can get…
Chief Boden: Enough!
[end of video recording…]
Marc Thorne: Even his own man wanted to go back in and save
                       my brother’s life, but the Chief on the scene,
                       Wallace Boden, said no.
TV: So the investigation continues…
                                             [remote clicks]
Peter Mills: [sighs]
                                                   cutscene
Nicki Rutkowski: Hey, there’s another request for an interview
                             about the fire from some blogger.
Chief Boden: The answer’s the same. No comment.
Nicki Rutkowski: Got it. And Peter Mills wanted to see you.
Chief Boden: Send him in.
Peter Mills: Thanks.
Nicki Rutkowski: Yeah.
Chief Boden: Hey, Mills, what’s up?
Peter Mills: Um, when I asked to go back in, I apologise if that was
                   out of line.
Chief Boden: Not another word. That is exactly the attitude I want
                      from all my men.
                      Forget the news report.
Peter Mills: Yes, sir. Thank you.
                                              [door closes]
Chief Boden: You’re welcome.
                                                 cutscene
Leslie Shay: Hey, we got our first trick-or-treater.
Hallie Thomas: Hey guys. Happy Halloween.
Leslie Shay: Happy Halloween, lady.
Gabby Dawson: Sweet shoes.
Hallie Thomas: Thanks. Uh, are you a runner too?
Gabby Dawson: Uh, I just did my first 10k a couple months ago.
Hallie Thomas: Oh, wow, that’s-that’s my race too. I’ve been
                          training for the next one. I’m trying to get in
                          under 48 minutes.
Gabby Dawson: That sounds like a good goal.
Hallie Thomas: How’d you do?
Gabby Dawson: 45:20.
Hallie Thomas: Wow, that’s…great [chuckles]
Gabby Dawson: [chuckles]
Leslie Shay: Casey’s in his quarters, I think.
Hallie Thomas: Awesome, thank you. I’ll see you guys.
Gabby Dawson: Yep.
Leslie Shay: Bye.
                    45:20?
Gabby Dawson: It was somewhere around there.
                                             cutscene
                                          [door opens]
Matt Casey: Everything okay?
                                          [door closes]
Hallie Thomas: Of course. Why do you look worried?
Matt Casey: [exhales] I-I’m not worried. Just…surprised.
Hallie Thomas: Well, I was thinking about our new plan to start
                          fresh, and I realised…
Matt Casey: What?
Hallie Thomas: That there is something that we talked about doing
                          and never did.
Matt Casey: Yeah?
                                          [blinds rolling down]
                                                 [lock click]
                                                  cutscene
                                           [knocks on door]
Nicki Rutkowski: Chief, this is Sondra Sherman.
Sondra Sherman: I’m an attorney with the city’s office.
Chief Boden: How can we help you today?
Sondra Sherman: I need to ask you some questions about the
                              Triskin warehouse fire.
Chief Boden: Why?
Sondra Sherman: The city’s been contacted by…an attorney for
                              Marc Thorne, the victim’s brother. There are
                              some concerns about the way the fire was
                              handled.
Chief Boden: My sympathies go out to Mr Thorne, but if I hadn’t
                      handled the fire the way I did, not only would his
                      brother be dead, but so would my men.
Sondra Sherman: Mmhmm. And how long was it after you called
                             your men out that the structure exploded?
Chief Boden: I don’t know…exactly.
Sondra Sherman: Huh.
Chief Boden: About a minute.
Sondra Sherman: And did one of your men tell you there was
                              someone still inside?
Chief Boden: Yes, he did, and he wanted to go back in and get
                      him. I said no. Seconds later, there was a
                      flashover.
Sondra Sherman: I wouldn’t ask you these questions unless I had
                             to, Chief. We don’t think you did anything
                             wrong, but an M.E.’s report will be released
                             soon, and if it says his brother was alive up
                             until the explosion, Thorne will come after
                             you, the department, and the city of
                             Chicago.
                             The city completely supports you. You shouldn’t
                             feel bad.
Chief Boden: I don’t.
                      If we’re done here, I have some work to do.
Sondra Sherman: [chuckles lightly]
                                      [door open and closes]
                                                cutscene
Kelly Severide: Wait here, guys.
                                       [squad door shuts]
Kelly Severide: Hey, Bobby. Thanks for coming.
Bobby: Hi. How you doin’?
Kelly Severide: Good.
Bobby: So what’s the deal here?
Kelly Severide: You tell me.
                                         [knocks on door]
Kelly Severide: Mrs Grady, how are you, ma’am?
Lady 1 (Mrs Grady): I’m fine.
Kelly Severide: We just had a-a few questions about those fires
                         that you had.
Lady 1 (Mrs Grady): They were accidents. I don’t know any more
                                  than I’ve already told you.
Kelly Severide: Okay, we just wanted to make sure that there are
                          no more…incidents.
Lady 1 (Mrs Grady): Sorry.
                                               [door shuts]
Kelly Severide: Someone set fire to her car two weeks ago. This
                          morning, her garage burns, she says…
Bobby: So she said they were just accidents.
Kelly Severide: They weren’t.
Bobby: But why do you think somebody would come after her? I
            mean, she lives alone. She keeps to herself.
Kelly Severide: Pick a reason.
                                                  cutscene
Sondra Sherman: I have a suggestion.
                              If you do a sit-down with Marc Thorne, that
                              could help minimise the damage.
Chief Boden: A sit-down?
Sondra Sherman: Yeah. A “Beer in the rose garden” kind of thing.
                               You, Thorne, attorneys for both sides.
Chief Boden: Whose idea was this?
Sondra Sherman: Sit-down was his. Beer was mine.
                             Sometimes a simple conversation can avert a
                             major lawsuit. Maybe all he wants is an
                             apology.
Chief Boden: I doubt that.
Sondra Sherman: Chief, I don’t think you understand. If we can’t
                              make this go away before the M.E.’s report
                              comes back, your job and your livelihood are
                              at risk.
Chief Boden: I am not going to apologise. I did nothing wrong,
                      neither did any of my men.
Sondra Sherman: Look, the city completely supports you.
Chief Boden: You keep saying that, and in the same breath, you
                      tell me my job’s on the line.
Sondra Sherman: We…
Chief Boden: [chuckles] I really do have work to do. I’m gonna go
                       do it.
                                                 cutscene
Nicki Rutkowski: I have a favour to ask you.
                            Can I borrow your house key?
                            I just want to set a little something up for Kelly in
                           his room. Champagne, candles. I think my dad
                           showing up at your apartment maybe pushed
                           him away.
Leslie Shay: Yeah, I don’t think it’s your dad showing up so much
                     that’s the problem as much as him announcing that
                     you’re engaged.
Nicki Rutkowski: I wasn’t hiding that.
Leslie Shay: Where’s your ring?
Nicki Rutkowski: It’s being resized right now.
                            So, can I have the key or not?
Leslie Shay: [chuckles] Not. At all.
                                   [alarm beeping, PA buzzing]
(Over PA): Ambulance 61. Hand laceration, 310 East Pearson.
                                        [background chatter]
                                 [indistinct chatter over radio]
Leslie Shay: Oof! You got a nice bleed going there.
                    Yikes. What happened?
Victim 2 (Chef): I was, uh, chopping, and suddenly there were…
                          screams, so I took my eyes off the onion. Next
                          thing I know, my hand’s gushing blood.
Gabby Dawson: Screams?
Victim 2 (Chef): A reaction to a two-tier baby carriage and…
                         matching car seat.
Leslie Shay: Wiggle your fingers for me.
Victim 2 (Chef): [exhales]
Leslie Shay: Ah, it’s not bad but, yeah, you’re gonna need stitches.
Lady 2: The mom-to-be had a dizzy spell when she saw the blood.
             Can one of you guys take a look at her.
Gabby Dawson: Oh, yeah, sure.
                           You’re not gonna believe this.
Leslie Shay: What?
                     Hey, Clare.
Clarice: Oh, my God.
             Um…honey, this is…Leslie Shay, my old girlfriend.
Leslie Shay: Hi.
                                              cutscene
Gabby Dawson: There are two patients. We’ll take this one with the
                           hand lac, so you can grab the other lady if you
                           don’t mind…
Leslie Shay: Actually, I just put Clarice in the back of our rig, so…
Gabby Dawson: And I said we would take him, so…
Victim 2 (Chef): It doesn’t matter to me.
Leslie Shay: Here you go.
                                        [ambo door shuts]
Leslie Shay: Alright, I’m just gonna check your vitals and then
                    have a listen and make sure everything’s okay
                    with the baby.
Clarice: Okay. I just haven’t felt a kick in a while and then the dizzy
             spell came on so suddenly.
Daniel Schwartz: I’m sure everything is fine, sweetie.
                               [blood pressure cuff pumping]
Leslie Shay: Blood pressure’s good.
                     All right, I’m just gonna lift your shirt off your belly
                     and have a listen.
                     Heart rate’s 140. It’s perfect.
Clarice: [exhales] Thank you.
             Thank you, Les.
Daniel Schwartz: See? That baby’s already got a flair for the
                             dramatic. The teen years are gonna be…fun.
Clarice: [chuckles]
             You know what I still have of yours? Those old blues
             records that your mom gave you.
Leslie Shay: Oh, yeah. Forgot about those.
Clarice: Yeah.
              I mean, you know, I-I can get ‘em back to you at any time.
              Why don’t you, um, just give me a call and we can figure it
               out.
                                                cutscene
                                               [laughing]
Capp: Who was that?
Kelly Severide: That’s Mills’ sister, Elise.
Hadley: Wow. When is the next family picnic?
Kelly Severide: Hey, let me give you a hand with those.
Elise Mills: I’m good, thanks.
Kelly Severide: You sure?
                          If this food ends up on the floor instead of the
                          table, it could cause a riot.
Elise Mills: [giggles] You’re Severide, right?
Kelly Severide: Kelly.
Elise Mills: Peter called, said he was supposed to make lunch and
                  he got busy.
                  He didn’t sound so great. Is everything okay around
                  here?
Kelly Severide: It’s just another day on the job. Your brother’s a
                         good kid.
Elise Mills: Yeah, he is.
                   I gotta get back to the restaurant. Thanks for the help.
                                                cutscene
Otis Zvonecek: Give me the ball, give me the ball.
Truck 81 men: Ohh!
                        Oh!
                        Ohhh! [laughing]
Marc Thorne: My name is Marc Thorne. I’m here to talk to Chief
                       Wallace Boden. Is he here?
Chief Boden: I’m very sorry for your loss, Mr Thorne.
Marc Thorne: Chief Boden! You knew my brother was in that
                       warehouse.
Christopher Herrmann: Did you?
                                       The guy was homeless, keeping warm in a
                                       warehouse. You’re his brother. Where have
                                       you been?
Peter Mills: Herrmann, come on.
Chrisopher Herrmann: No, sorry, I’m not gonna be quiet.
                                      ‘Cause a few weeks ago, I almost bought
                                       the farm, trying to save a stranger. It’s
                                       what we do, every day.
                                       It’s what we tried to do for your brother.
                                       Chief Boden made the call he had to
                                       make.
                                       Just be glad you never have to do that.
                                                     cutscene
Christopher Hermann: What is this?
Leslie Shay: We heard you represented, Herrmann.
Gabby Dawson: So, I’m gonna throw out a name…Clarice
                           Carthage.
All: Oh ho ho…
Christopher Herrmann: Ow.
Peter Mills: Wait, who?
Joe Cruz: The bitchy ex-girlfriend.
Leslie Shay: She wasn’t a bitch, per se.
Matt Casey: She…was a little full of herself.
Gabby Dawson: Well, she’s now got a news status update. She is
                           now Clarice Schwartz, married to a dude, and
                           seven months pregnant.
Otis Zvonecek: Oh!
                                                   [laughing]
Otis Zvonecek: Did I not call that?
Joe Cruz: [laughing manically]
Otis Zvonecek: Did I not say she had one foot in, one foot out?
Leslie Shay: You did not say that.
Otis Zvonecek: Well, not to you, maybe, but did I not call that?
Christopher Herrmann: He called that [laughing]
                                                  [laughter]
Leslie Shay: [sighs] Yep.
                                                cutscene
Man 2: Look, he’s got candy. He’s got a bunch of candy.
Chief Boden: Oh, look at you. That costume is terrifying. You’re
                      about to scare the neighbours to death.
                      Want some treats? Give me that. Whomp.
Man 2: I saw your picture online. I read about what happened. Keep
            your chin up. You did the right thing.
Chief Boden: Appreciate that.
                      Halloween is about the kids.
                      Thank you for coming.
Man 2: Come on, guys, let’s go.
            Next.
            Get some more candy? Should we get some more? Let’s
            go.
                                                cutscene
                        [tv in the background, howling noises]
                               [alarm beeping, PA buzzing]
(Over PA): Truck 81, Ambulance 61. Man down, 3500…[indistinct
                 announcement]
Joe Cruz: Oh! Vargas wants back on truck already, huh?
Jose Vargas: Yeah, yeah.
                             [siren wailing in the background]
                                                cutscene
                               [siren wailing, horn honking]
                             [music thumping, crowd noise]
                                      [truck door shuts]
Matt Casey: Coming through.
                     Excuse me. Everybody, make way. Coming through.
                      Anybody seen an injured person?
Gabby Dawson: Is that our guy?
                           Okay, nevermind.
Leslie Shay: Halloween sucks.
Matt Casey: Looking for an injured person.
Lady 3 (Sexy Nurse): Thank God. He’s over here.
Joe Cruz: Excuse me can we get some room, please? Excuse me
                 can we get some room?
Matt Casey: (into radio) Okay, got a location on the victim, Witches’
                     brew.
Gabby Dawson: (into radio) Copy that. Right behind you.
Leslie Shay: Excuse us.
Gabby Dawson: Watch out, guys.
Matt Casey: Hold his head steady.
Firefighter: Guys, come on.
Victim 3: [grunting]
Peter Mills: I got it.
Gabby Dawson: Hold his head.
Peter Mills: Yeah.
Leslie Shay: Did he take any drugs?
Lady 3 (Sexy Nurse): No, j-just a couple of beers. Then all of a
                                   sudden his eyes rolled back in his head
                                   and he…he dropped and just started
                                   jerking around.
Leslie Shay: Does he have a history of seizures?
Lady 3 (Sexy Nurse): I don’t think so. This is only our second date.
Gabby Dawson: Alright, ready.
                           Turn him over.
Man 3 (Fake fireman): Hey, let me help out, fellas.
Matt Casey: Stay back, sir.
Man 3 (Fake fireman): Yeah, how about giving me a c-4 tube and
                                     a Lidocaine drip?
                                             [laughter]
Christopher Herrmann: Let ‘em do their job.
Peter Mills: All right, come on. Move it out.
Gabby Dawson: Watch out. Come on. Make fast.
Man 3 (Fake fireman): Don’t tell ‘em you’re homeless. They won’t
                                     help ya.
Matt Casey: Hey! Hey!
                    Go. Go.
                    You got your head screwed on straight?
Christopher Herrmann: These people mouthing off at us.
Matt Casey: You rise above it.
Christopher Herrmann: It won’t happen again.
Matt Casey: Let’s get the hell out of here.
                                      [train in background]
                                                cutscene
Sondra Sherman: Chief, wanted to let you know the M.E.’s report
                              came in.
                              Jonathan Thorne died from injuries sustained
                              during the explosion. The department is putting
                              together a committee now.
Chief Boden: This doesn’t change anything.
                                           [dramatic music]
                                    [door shuts, lock clicks]
                                              cutscene
Nicki Rutkowski: Lieutenant Casey, there’s someone out front for
                             you.
Matt Casey: Detective Voight.
Hank Voight: Got some good news for you, Casey.
Matt Casey: Yeah? What’s that?
Hank Voight: Well, I heard about what happened to your car.
                      I don’t normally handle this kind of thing, but…to
                      be honest, I felt like I owed you an apology after
                      my behaviour the other day. I was out of line.
                      So I put my guys on it, and we caught the little
                      scumbag.
Matt Casey: And how’d you know it was him?
Hank Voight: Come here.
                      This yours?
                      There you go. He had it on him.
                      And make sure nothing’s missing, will you?
Matt Casey: [scoffs] This isn’t mine.
Hank Voight: Well, the kid must have stashed it in there.
                      You know, there’s a simple, honest solution to all our
                       problems. One that keeps my son out of jail and lets
                       you and I get on with our lives. All you gotta do is
                       change that report.
Matt Casey: I’m not gonna do that.
                                                   cutscene
Gabby Dawson: [groans] Last year [grunts] we went through four of
                             these. This year we barely finished one.
Matt Casey: Not the best day.
Gabby Dawson: What is it?
Matt Casey: [sighs] Detective Voight showed up here…tried to
                     bribe me with a wad of cash.
Gabby Dawson: What? Wha…we’ve gotta call my brother and tell
                            him.
Matt Casey: I’m just gonna…testify and let the courts handle it.
Gabby Dawson: [sighs] Well, what does Hallie say?
Matt Casey: I didn’t tell her.
Gabby Dawson: Why not?
Matt Casey: I don’t know. I don’t wanna worry her, I guess.
Gabby Dawson: You should tell her.
Matt Casey: Yeah. Yeah, I probably should.
                     I’ll see you later.
Gabby Dawson: Yeah, later.
                            [sighs]
                                                   cutscene
                                                [jazzy music]
                                              [liquor pouring]
Leslie Shay: [slurring] I mean, you should have seen Clarice’s
                     apartment. It was…like a museum; all this fancy
                     breakable crap everywhere.
                     The place she and I used to live, there was peeling
                      paint, dripping faucets…but it’s great. You wanted
                      to hang out there all day long, you know?
                      Will you pass me a lime?
Kelly Severide: Yeah.
Leslie Shay: They had a floor-to-ceiling wine rack. I mean…she
                     used to hate wine [slurping]
                     She drank beer. I loved that about her. I guess she
                     drinks wine now.
                     [liquor pouring]
Kelly Severide: How long did you two…
Leslie Shay: Three years.
Kelly Severide: Mm.
Leslie Shay: Yeah I mean, it wasn’t like, you know…a casual thing.
                     It was…uh…we were serious. Or at least I thought we
                     were. Turns out I may have overestimated her
                     lesbianism
Kelly Severide: [chuckles lightly]
                                           [rapping on door]
Leslie Shay: Really?
Kelly Severide: No offense…I’m not taking advice from you right
                         now.
                         [coughs]
Leslie Shay: This is a new low.
Nicki Rutkowski: Wanna help with this?
                             What?
Kelly Severide: I was engaged once too…
                                               [door closes]
                                                  cutscene
                                                [door shuts]
Sondra Sherman: Just wanted to pass along some positive news.
                             The…Thorne situation has been resolved.
Chief Boden: Resolved how?
Sondra Sherman: Marc Thorne has dropped all plans to sue the
                              city.
Chief Boden: You gave him a payout.
Sondra Sherman: [scoffs] There’s a settlement in the works, yes.
Chief Boden: You yourself said we did nothing wrong.
Sondra Sherman: You know, you should be happy about this.
                              Thorne was willing to settle quickly and for
                              a reasonable amount. There’s no further risk
                              of impact on you, and you continue to have
                              the city’s full support.
Chief Boden: Appreciate that.
Sondra Sherman: Take care, Chief.
Chief Boden: Yeah.
                                                       cutscene
Hadley: How many?
Kelly Severide: Three.
                                        [alarm blaring, PA buzzing]
(Over PA): House fire, 220 South Kilbourn. Engine 51…
Jose Vargas: 220 South Kilbourn.
(Over PA): Truck 81, Squad 3…
Kelly Severide: Damn it!
(Over PA): Ambulance 61.
Chief Boden: Truck and Engine are near the scene. They’ll meet
                       you there.
Kelly Severide: What happened?
Joe Cruz: Molotov cocktail through the front window. Fire’s under
                 control.
Kelly Severide: The woman who lives here, Mrs Grady?
Joe Cruz: With Dawson.
Gabby Dawson: Just breathe in, nice and easy. We’re gonna get
                           that smoke out of your lungs, okay?
Kelly Severide: Is she okay?
Leslie Shay: Yeah, smoke inhalation. Oxygen will clear her up.
Kelly Severide: Hey, can you give me a second?
Gabby Dawson: Yeah.
Lady 1 (Mrs Grady): [whimpering]
Kelly Severide: We could have lost you.
Lady 1 (Mrs Grady): [whimpering]
Kelly Severide: I won’t go to the police, okay? I promise you that.
                         But you gotta talk to me.
Lady 1 (Mrs Grady): [whimpering]
Kelly Severide: Okay?
                                                cutscene
                                              [rap music]
                                            [baby crying]
                                        [banging on door]
                                  [lock clicks, door opens]
Man 4: Who the hell are you?
           Hey, what you doin’?
Kelly Severide: Shut up. Sit down.
                                           [door closes]
Kelly Severide: Mrs Grady. On Kilbourn.
Man 5: [scoffs] We don’t even know who that is.
Kelly Severide: She’s the one who called the cops about the drug
                          dealers on her block. She’s also my aunt.
                          Listen to me.
                          I hear about one more ember going anywhere near
                          Mrs Grady or her property again, I’ll come back
                          here, break your kneecaps, and drag you down to
                          the police station. You don’t have drugs on you,
                          I’ll plant them on you.
Man 4: You can’t do that.
Kelly Severide: The hell I can’t? It’s a firefighter’s word against a
                          couple bangers. Who they gonna believe?
                                                cutscene
Christopher Herrmann: Extra, extra.
                                       Firefighters are off the front page. Back in
                                       the black smoke we go until another
                                       tragedy.
Matt Casey: Another day, another story.
Christopher Herrmann: I wonder how much that Thorne is getting
                                        from the city.
Mouch: Why work for a living when you can sue someone instead?
Kelly Severide: Morning, Chief.
Chief Boden: Our assistant Nicki has quit.
                      According to her father, she has broken off her
                      engagement, left for Europe for a while, so will
                      y’all just let me know if you hear of anybody
                      available for the position?
                                                 cutscene
Gabby Dawson: Leslie Elizabeth Shay.
Leslie Shay: What?
                     It’s…it’s not a big deal.
Gabby Dawson: No, it is. And…I’m sorry but I’m not gonna pretend
                           like I don’t remember peeling you off the floor
                           after that woman broke your heart.
                           She is married now. Taken. Unattainable.
Leslie Shay: I know.
                    I just wanted my records back.
Gabby Dawson: I’ll buy you a new set. I promise.
                                                  cutscene
Peter Mills: You wanted to see me, Chief?
Chief Boden: Yeah, Mills, come on in.
                                             [door closes]
Chief Boden: I know you’ve been…struggling ever since the
                      warehouse fire.
Peter Mills: I was close enough to see him. If I’d had one minute, I
                   might have…
Chief Boden: Let me tell you about one minute.
                      I’ve been there.
                      Most of us have.
                      In my case, I was sure.
                      Surer than you are right now, even. That if I’d had that
                      one minute, I’d have been able to go in there, rescue
                      those people.
                      My best buddy and I, we went running back in.
                      The fire was trapped in the ceiling.
                      Couldn’t see it, so we didn’t know. We didn’t have
                      one minute. We lost the victims. I lost my friend. I got
                      a scar on my back that reminds me every single day
                      about the price of playing ‘beat the clock.’ And it’s
                      my job to make sure that you never get any kind of
                      reminder. You understand me?
Peter Mills: Yes, sir.
Chief Boden: You got it in you. You will make one hell of a
                      firefighter. Just like your dad was.
                      Go on.
                                               [door closes]
                                                  cutscene
                                              [radio chatter]
                                            [somber music]
Radio: We’ll be opening up the phone lines shortly to take your
            calls to talk about the Bears game on Sunday…
            [continues indistinctly]
Peter Mills: Hey, Karen.
Karen: Hi Peter.
Peter Mills: How you doing?
Karen: Good.
                                             cutscene
                                       [background chatter]
Kelly Severide: So where should we go? Restaurant? Bar?
                         Strip club?
Leslie Shay: Yeah, okay.
Kelly Severide: Hey, you all right?
Leslie Shay: Yeah.
                     I just always thought she was the one [sniffles]
Kelly Severide: C’mere.
                         Strip club it is.
Leslie Shay: [chuckles]
                                                 cutscene
                                            [phone ringing]
Joe Cruz: Fifty-One.
                Oh hey, Hallie.
                You alright?
                 Hold on.
Matt Casey: Hey.
                                 [tires squealing & skidding]
Hallie Thomas: Matt, what is going on?
Matt Casey: [sighs]
Chicago Fire Fic: What Was and What Should Be, Ch. 1
Sylvie tried to find something to say that was light and encouraging. She actually appreciated that she was now one of the people Casey leaned on the most at 51 – he didn’t really have anyone outside the house, and he’d admitted that with Kidd having moved in to Severide’s place, he felt awkward talking to Severide about much, like he was horning in on their couple time. So he was going out more, trying to ‘move on’ apparently while also staying out of their way, working long hours on construction projects so he was only really sleeping there, but Sylvie really wanted to be encouraging his pursuit of happiness, not be a jealous meanie, who thought he was hot, and kind, and sweet, and hot – how had she not noticed how handsome he was when he was married? She’d been so convinced that he was so lucky to have Gabby, but damn, Gabby had been lucky to have him, too. So Matt was talking to her now, not Severide. This time, it had been an insensitive bitch (Sylvie’s thoughts, not his) who had basically cut him off at the knees when he mentioned he had a roommate. They’d been going out three weeks (Casey’s attempts at being discrete were ruined by the perpetual gossip queens at 51, so this was not news), and the woman had wanted to go back to his, and he’d gotten to the fact he was living with a friend (he had not, he said, gotten to the whole ‘I lost everything I owned in a fire and insurance is insisting that the court case be finished before officially determining I wasn’t the arsonist’). Apparently, he’d passed along, having a roommate at 37 made him a ‘loser’ who was ‘immature, financially unstable, or worse, both’ and that he’d never find a normal woman who’d date a guy nearing 40 who didn’t at least have his shit together enough to live on his own. She could imagine Matt, sweet, solemn, genuinely-cares-about-what-you’re-saying, and much more sensitive than most people knew Matt Casey, listening to a woman he liked call him a loser and then getting stuck with the dinner-and-drinks bill, and here he was, of course, blaming himself, believing this woman (though he didn’t say as much, it was pretty obvious, and she was drunk, so it must be really obvious) and it made her mad. Very mad. He was such a decent guy, and that face, and he was nicely built, and he was not a loser at all – even when she was sober she totally did not think he was a loser at all. He was kind and warm and very responsible and very mature and very hot. Okay, she was drunk, and focusing on the ‘attractive’ thing a little too much.
“You don’t have to disagree with her, you know.” Matt managed a sad attempt at a half-smile. Her confusion must have shown on her face. “You look like you’re trying to come up with a nice, supportive, Sylvie Brett way of saying she’s right – of all the fish in the sea, I’m the worst catch, so to speak.”
“Uhm, no, not what was I thinking at all. Trust me, you have to scrape the bottom of a really deep barrel to be the worst catch in the sea.” She meant that, truly, there were a surprisingly high number of shitty people in the dating pool. Like apparently this Miranda woman he’d been seeing. Seeing the look on his face, she kept going, “Not that you’re a bad catch at all, Matt Casey. You’re kind, and sweet, and very handsome, and you’ve got a good job – two good jobs really, so bonus for that – and you’re a great friend, and you have the most amazing eyes, has anyone told you that?” “You’ve been trying to keep up with Foster again, haven’t you?” He asked, a more genuine smile spreading across his face.
“No, well, yes, but she bought and she kept buying, before she left to go to some thing for a friend or with a friend or about a friend.” Sylvie explained. “But me being drunk is not why you have beautiful eyes. You just do. Me being drunk might be why I’m saying it though. But it’s better than saying the other thing I was thinking, so it’s okay, because the other thing I was thinking is you’re hot. And that would be awkward. Maybe. If you’re not okay with that. Not with being hot, I guess you’re okay with that, you’ve probably been hot like your entire life, but with me saying it.”
“Were you drinking beer all night?” He gestured to what was in her hand. She didn’t follow his jump in topic, but oh well.
“What? This?” She glanced at the bottle. “No. After round three of whiskey, I told Foster I had to switch to beer.” “Three? And how many beers?” “This is my third, but I’ve had like…two sips out of it. You’re not going to buy me a drink, are you?” “Well, I was going to offer, since you’ve listened to me complain, but I think now I’m going to offer to take you home instead.” “See?! Nice, sweet, kind Matt Casey – definitely a good catch.”
“Yeah, nice guys, what every woman wants apparently.” Matt scoffed, rolling his eyes a little. “Stay here, I’ll clear my tab with Herrmann.” “I’ll be here.” She assured, thankful a moment later that the bar was kind of loud as “enjoying the view of your butt,” slipped out because she was actually that shallow tonight, he had a nice butt. His turnout gear of course did not show it off, but sometimes his duty pants did. Tonight, his dress pants did. He’d gotten dressed up, they must’ve gone somewhere nice, and then he got dumped, and told he was a loser. He probably paid the bill, too, he was the type to always pay for a girl, definitely. Typical Casey. Treated like crap and paid for the privilege of it. He was back a minute later, she almost laughed because he’d be the type to never realize but he always got served like first in the whole place because that was just Herrmann and Otis being respectful of their boss like that – everyone in the house adored Casey, even when he was making them nuts with drills and stuff.
“What’re you grinning about?” He asked with a smile.
“You.” “Laughing at me, huh? Can’t blame you.” His smile was fake now, though.
“Sort of, but not like you think. Her loss, Matt. I mean that. Everyone here loves you and if she doesn’t, well, that’s just poop for her.” “Poop for her?” Matt laughed lightly. “You’re in a bar, you can swear.” “I don’t like to swear much.” She shrugged. “Except, well, you don’t need to know that.” “You ready to head home?” “With you?” “Well, I’m driving, but no, I’ll take you back to yours. Otis said Cruz should be back from his date with Chloe by now.” “What if he brought Chloe back to ours? He thinks Otis and I are both out for the evening.” “I’m sure they’ll be in the bedroom in that case.” He reassured as he ushered out of the bar.
“Hey, Case, ‘hawks tickets on Friday, you in?” Severide asked as they passed his table. Kidd had a weird look on her face, Sylvie couldn’t place it, but it was weird. “Section 110, 2nd row.” “Hell yes I’m in. I’m gonna take Brett home – she tried to keep up with Foster again – catch you back home.” “Sure, later.”
“You know, I think Kidd doesn’t like you living there. Or maybe she was just jealous Severide didn’t take her to the Blackhawks.”
“Yeah, I’m thinking about getting a new place. I’ll have to rent for a while.”
“Ooh, let me help again this time! I love real estate. You should totally buy in this market, you know, you could make money on a fixer, you can do the work yourself and everything.” “I would, if I get the insurance settled. Then again, I have nothing to go in a house. Or an apartment. I don’t even own a mattress, or an entire wardrobe that doesn’t say Chicago Fire Department on it.” “Oh, I forgot for a second. Sorry. How long on that?” “Lawyers say a month or so until the case is wrapped up, so maybe six weeks.” “It’s been almost a year – since last December. Good thing you’ve got Severide.” “He’s a good friend, letting me crash in the guest room for 10 months.” Matt agreed. She looked at him, he was so earnest and kind and hot. She was stuck on the ‘hot’ tonight. Then something occurred to her.
“I just realized you sleep in the bed Kidd used to sleep in. The same sheets even. Washed but still. That’s kinda weird. I bet they had sex in her room sometimes. So like, you sleep in their bed, sort of.” “Now I’m going to be thinking about that tonight. Thanks for that.” Matt chuckled a little. They pulled up near her building. He didn’t have a parking spot, so he’d had to take what was sort of near her building. They had official visitor spots, she remembered. Too few, but it was a weeknight, so there were some left probably.
“You can go in the parking. You can have a visitor spots. I’ll give you the code. But shhh, we’re not supposed to give it out, we’re supposed to buzz you in with your phones, but I don’t know if I can type the code right right now.” “Alright, what’s the code I have to enter?” He asked, but he hadn’t moved the truck.
“Uhm, you have to be at the gate.” “I know that, I’m just not getting stuck up there and then you can’t remember it.” “Oh. I remember it! I’m not that drunk.” “You’re pretty drunk. It’s adorable but also a little concerning.” “It’s Foster’s fault. She drinks a lot. Not like at work, Captain Casey, sir. Just, like, out, she drinks more than I ever have.” “I can tell. The code?” “Oh, yeah. 03-04-18-37. Then my apartment number. Do you know that?”
“Yeah. Between you, Otis, and Cruz, it’s on a lot of paperwork I see.” “There’s an elevator. Thankfully. I’m not sure I like stairs right now.” “Probably not.” Casey agreed, as he punched in the code and the gate rolled back. He found the visitors spots easily up on the almost top bit of the parking deck. How did he know that? She got distracted, or something, because he was holding open his truck door, looking at her expectantly.
“What?” “You’re not sleeping my truck, Sylvie. Let’s go inside.” “Your truck is comfy. Not new, but reliable, comfy, lived in. Like you.” “I don’t know if that’s a compliment. Probably true, though.” Matt shook his head.
“I mean, it smells like you. Not that you’re lived in or comfy. You might be comfy. I’ve never sat on you.” She admitted as she slipped from the truck and headed towards the door into the residential part of the building. She was not sure the parking had always been this unlevel. She continued, “it smells like you. Like, good things. Like wood and sawdust and that guy smell, just whatever it is, that Matt smell that is just you, not anything else.” “I have a smell?” He caught her as she threatened to fall into him, the floor was really unlevel tonight and right in front of the elevator too, that was silly, who built it like that? “mm-hmm. It’s nice. See you smell like it right now. Sort of. You wore cologne though. It covers it up. It’s nice cologne, but I miss you smell.” “I did have a date tonight. I didn’t think ‘me smell’ was what I should go with.” “When we date, don’t bother with cologne. You smell sexier with the sawdust and you smell.” “Are we dating?” Matt asked with a chuckle. “I could stop being jealous of stupid mean women who say you’re a ‘loser’ then. And you wouldn’t get stuck paying for dinner with a woman who would call you a ‘loser’. Which isn’t good. Plus, then it wouldn’t be weird that I was checking out your butt tonight when you paid your tab.” “You were?” He wasn’t chuckling now, as they got out of the elevator on her floor. It wasn’t even many floors down from where they had been, but she was sure the stairs would be even more unlevel than the parking. “Mm-hmm. You have a cute butt in those pants. Also, you have the bluest eyes. I love your eyes. Did I say that already tonight? I’m drunk. I think I’m drunker than I think. Thought. I’m drunker enough to just decide we’re dating, so you can stop being with mean women and I can stop dealing with guys who don’t want what I want or whatever it is that means I keep ending up with guys who don’t understand me or the job. And since we’re dating, I can look at your ass and it’s not weird. And your eyes. And your…you.” “Is Cruz actually home? I could knock. I think you’re a little drunk to be left home by yourself.” “You can sleep over! If we’re dating now, it’s fine if you sleep over. Chloe sleeps over sometimes. And Lily too.” “That would probably not be a good idea.” “But if you leave, hey, what’re you doing, that’s my purse.” He just reached out and took her purse off her shoulder and was opening it. Rude. “And we’ve been standing at your door for a full minute. You have a key?” “Oh, yeah, it’s in there. Sorry.” “Let’s get you inside.” He said, as he found the key and opened the door. He guided her inside, even though she lived there. “Cruz!” He called out, but there was no answer. She figured that meant he was at Chloe’s, or maybe they were still out, it wasn’t that late, not really, she was just drunk kinda early. Because of Foster. Who was a bad influence. Whose bad influence led her to be here, being ushered around her own apartment by Matt Casey. Who was also her boss. Sort of. Not really. So it wasn’t a conflict really because he couldn’t give orders to ambo. Except sometimes. And he processed all their personnel paperwork and stuff. So some authority. But that didn’t mean he was her boss and she shouldn’t be attracted to him because of rules. He smelled good. Sexy. And he was probably really well built. She’d never actually seen him shirtless. But he had to be. She wanted to know. “Let’s get you some water.” His voice pulled her from her thoughts. Even his voice was sexy. “I’m not thirsty. I had lots of liquid, too much, I mean.” She was pretty sure if she drank anything more, she’d start to feel sick. Plus, she kind of didn’t want to sober up just yet. She was enjoying the feelings of being close to him. “You’re drunk.” Matt reminded. “water will help.” “But if I get less drunker, I won’t have the guts to do this.” She said, then practically fell into him to kiss him. Maybe it was his body heat, or his smell, or his Matt Casey-ness, but she was drunk enough to go with it and worry about whatever later, so she kissed him, good and long and hard. She kissed him and enjoyed that he kissed back and he was good at it. He kissed like he did everything else, like it was the only thing on the planet going on right at that moment, and damn it, she wanted him, wanted to throw him on the nearest surface and just kiss him until they both passed out from lack of oxygen. She always got wet easily when she was drunk, and she could feel herself getting really turned on, and she pushed impossibly closer to him, her hands roaming, trying to get their fill of him, all the things forbidden to her before right now, and speaking of forbidden, she fumbled at his fly, damn dress pants were harder to get than jeans, and she mostly ended up groping him through his pants, but just for a second because then his hands grabbed her wrists, firmly but not too hard, and he was pushing her away from him, which caused her to whine – she didn’t mean to, but she didn’t want to be away from  his heat and his smell and his Matt Casey-ness.
“Not tonight, Sylvie.” “Why not?” “You’re too drunk to make this sort of decision.” He paused. “And I’m not the kind of guy who takes one woman to dinner and sleeps with a different woman on the same night.” “She should’ve hit that then, her loss.” “If you really want this,” Matt sighed, but smiled at her, “you’ll still want it when you’re sober. I respect you way too much, and value our friendship too much, to not wait for sober enthusiastic consent. I mean, I always do, would, but especially with you.” “Why are you such a good guy?” She asked, half in complaint, half out of just sheer affection for this sweet, solemn, lovely man. Who was also really hot, hence her half complaint. “But I think I love it about you, you know? You’re good. Not nice, I mean, you’re nice, but you’re not nice like you have good manners and act the part, you’re good. Down to your bones. Do you know that? You’re good down to your bones, Matt Casey, and that’s why I love you. Well, that and you’re hot with beautiful eyes.” “Let’s get you to bed. With some water. I’ll text Cruz, see where he’s at.” “Don’t bother him, he’s with Chloe. Otis will be home at like 3. I’ll be fine. Or you could stay.” “On the sofa.” He gave her a sharp look, as her hands wandered down his body again. She couldn’t help it. He should be touched. She was drunk, but she also noticed that while his mouth said ‘no’ his body was saying ‘yes’ – he liked being touched.
“With me.” She shook her head. “Not like…I respect your ‘no’. Just in the bed.”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.” “You don’t trust me?” “Drunk? Not entirely.” He chuckled. “So you’re good and you’re smart.” She laughed. “But I promise. No roving hands tonight. But I want a cuddle. Just a cuddle. I miss the cuddling.” “Yeah, it’s hard to go back to sleeping alone. Come on, this is you, right?” He gestured to the bedroom he’d led them down the hall to. She nodded.
“That’s me. I’m gonna brush my teeth first. Be right back.”
“I’ll get that glass of water.” She came into the bedroom, unsurprised to find he’d already turned back the covers. He was the type to do that. He was also the type, it turned out, to turn around when she started changing clothes. Which she’d probably appreciate when she was sober, but tonight it was just silly and adorable. She’d let him see the whole show anyway. She was in her PJs, nearly fell into bed, then looked up at him.
“Your turn. Oh, I could get something from Cruz’s room for you-“ “It’s fine. I’ve slept worse.” He shrugged, sitting on the edge of the bed, taking off his shoes from what she could tell and guess. She couldn’t see it, the angle was bad and his shoulders were between her eyes and his actions and oooh, he had nice shoulders. He took off the outer, nice, shirt he was wearing, too.
“Your pants.” She prompted, then explained at his look. “I mean, they’re nice, don’t wrinkle them. I promise to keep my hands to myself, you can take your pants off. Though I’ll be tempted. It felt nice, the like second I touched it.” “Thanks, I think.” He chuckled again. “You know, this sort of thing is easier when you girls crash at a guy’s – I can just give you some boxers and an old t-shirt.” “I could give you my underwear.” She laughed. “I don’t think it’d suit you.”
“Or fit.” He grinned.
“Take your pants off. Unless you’re not wearing underwear. That might be too much temptation.”
“You’ve known me for almost five years.” He laughed, shaking his head. He also stood to remove his pants, and she unashamedly checked out his ass. “If you think not wearing underwear is an option, you don’t know me nearly well enough for us to do this. Or even think about going where all that kissing out in the living room was going.” “You’ve never not worn underwear?” “You have? I mean, gone out with no underwear?”
“Yep.” She popped the ‘p’. “It was kind of a dare. But it felt kind of…naughty and I kind of liked it.” “Damn it.” He blushed a little, but she didn’t know why.
“I was just joking.” She reassured, not wanting him to think she didn’t know him very well. “I mean, I totally did that, but I mean I knew you’d be wearing underwear. I even knew it would be black boxer briefs, plain black, always, and always Jockey. Dawson joked about how predictable you are.” She realized he looked taken aback or something and he was definitely blushing more now. “I just mean I know who you are, Matt Casey.” “Yeah.” “And you are comfy and warm and you smell good and I’m drunk enough to ask so just get over here for cuddles.” “Drink some of that water. I’ll stay until Otis or Cruz gets home, okay?”
Disaster gays go for a ride with friends
Chapter two of Disaster gays in love or...what ever I called it lmao, This might have a different vibe because I’m less sad more confident because of a certain Blue bee who I’m not sure if they would want to be tagged or not lmao. But I hope it’s still good! Maybe it’s better actually! You get to know everyone a bit more at least. More notes at the end~
This one is 1261 Words long holy shit! I was about to say not that much bigger but that’s about 2x as large and tooK less time! Wow!
Aleron Here I was now walking toward a red van with words written all over the windows, mostly stuff about sports and I already knew this was Conny’s car. Conny did baseball as a kid, then basketball, and now he was on the Swim team as one of the sea slugs, Weird to have a team that’s supposed to be fast is named after a fucking slug. And he’s on the tennis team as a...I don’t fucking know a tennis player? Why don’t tennis teams have fun names or mascots? I guess...most tennis players aren’t on a team...Huh Maybe he’s a ghost? Our school mascot is a ghost, our football team is the  Devils, Our baseball team in the Onis, and the basketball team in the Phantoms. The founder of our school was weird and...the names just sorta stuck. Why the swim team got the short end of the stick when it came to cool names I don’t know. Why not the Kraken, the kappas, the sirens. Even selkies would be cool! Guess sea slug is better the tennis player though. Anyways Conrad was currently arguing with Goose who would get to drive, Goose was fucking tall guy, so was Conny but he was scary tall like he’s been stretched out tall. “You’re not fucking driving, you’ve had three beers already you’re not killing me and my lady.” He frowned, arm around Casey and Conrad groaned “Fine...But I’m sitting in the front.” Conrad grumbled which made Casey pout and it was like watching a man trying to say no to his dog. He cracked so easy. That was sorta adorable “Okay okay, take the damn front! But I get a window seat.” He hissed and June cheered “I GET THE MIDDLE” Which made my heart sink GOD DAMN IT JUNE CAN YOU STOP BEING A COCK BLOCK. Of course, I didn’t say that though, I’m trying to be a part of this not get my ass beat by a damn giant got it! Anyways i let June climb into the car before getting In after her, she’s looking at me, I’m looking at Conny, and Conny is looking to the stars and I’m starting to think I’m going to have to settle for June. Conrad I can’t just, stare at him, so I settle for stars, the stars like his freckles, the moon like his eyes, the sky black and shimmery like his dark curly locks and the wheat field below like his perfect tan skin. Even the plane with its red light had a place on his face, that being the pimple on his nose that had been a consistent problem since middle school, I wanna boop that nose, I wanna boop that zit. I love him, even the gross parts. Aleron “So um..Ya like warheads?” I asked June awkwardly, getting one out of my candy pocket after Handing a bag of mary jane to Casey up front “Never had one” She purrs back and I stuff that son of a bitch in her both. Conrad “AHHHHHHHH” I’m knocked out of my daydreams by June squealing and Goose pressing on the breaks “WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT JUNE.” He yells and looks back at the now squirming girl and I just sit and wait as the two yell at each other before I notice Al. He’s having a trip of his own right now, starting with a small snicker, then a giggle, and soon enough a full on chortle, filled with so much joy at another's pain even while experiencing his own, face puckered up as sour green apple took over his body but he just couldn’t stop laughing, snorting like a pig at this point he was so deep into it. Soon enough I was laughing too, smiling at him with all the love in the world and when he saw it his face went red and he looked away, a smile still spread across his face as he chipped away at the blue flowers painted on his nails. How was he so beautiful? How did he accomplish what no one else did to me, make my heart flutter, make me choke on my words, try to speak without knowing what I’m saying? Make me just want to hear him laugh, his heavenly laugh and I needed to hear it. So as the blunt got passed around I started to tell some childhood stories, like that time I wore a dress to school and got sent home and my mom freaked out, or the time I walked into the old apartment in the city with a pigeon on my head and later found out my grandmama used the pigeon for soup, goose told why his name was goose, because he one angered an entire gaggle of geese because he petted one, Casey talked about her time when she used to identify as a boy and the funny stories that came from that, and how tough she used to act as a kid while secretly wearing her mom’s heels and makeup, June talked about how she was the one usually wearing makeup with Casey, taught her the ropes,  and how  she herself used to break a lot of things and ruin everything with paint. Al was having a great time, smocking and drinking but...when it got to him to share a story he kinda tensed up and stared before laughing and looking down, “Ay, it’s no pressure to tell a story dude.” I mentioned gently, looking at his with a soft smile as everyone nodded along but he shook his head and gulped before speaking “When I was a kid, I knew I was...uh...well... I Maybe not only boys but like I liked boys a bit, I always knew that.” he gulps and looks away before laughing “And my mom, turns out she...she didn’t even like guys, at...at all. But she was married, to a man.” He mumbled, leaning back, I could tell this story would be a little sensitive which fit the mood, even goose’s stories had a bit of a humbling sensitive tone while also making up laugh “And um, so I came out to her young, I didn’t know what sexuality was, so like, I didn’t know it was weird to say ‘Hey mom, that boy is really pretty’...But uh yeah.” he looked around and slowly relaxed “So me and her made like this pact, we kept a secret from my dad who was,,, kind of a controlling dick and like, we went to gay parent clubs, and mom,,, tried to find me another mom, and like I made friends with other kids, not that they were gay, but having this secret helped up bond like we hadn’t before. And then I introduced my mom to my English teacher while at a pride restaurant and...I got another mom a few months after that.” He chuckled, the smile on his face so adorable I almost couldn’t contain myself he then told us more about the divorce, the goofy things he did with his new moms, about what it was like when his moms opened up a flower shop Cafe, how he was constantly stung by bees after that and one time ate one, it was all so relaxed and we all laughed and smoked as Goose just drove. It felt nice, wholesome, like what I wanted but... I only wished a little that it was just me and Al.
So i love my gay sons so much and Thank you Charlie (I hope it’s okay to casually call you that some people are iffy about it) For the boost of confidence! I always wanted to write about them but always been iffy, who knows maybe one day i’ll draw them their new designs all clean and spiffy. I know this one is a lot more huge papargraphs and stuff but like i wanted to teach yall about them a little more! Also my dream school is a school with a cool mascot and i really like the idea of a ghost mascot.
Next chapter should include S’mores and Butts in the most innocent awkward teen way possible I swear!
Buy More High School Ch 10, Trick or Treat
A/N: Hey, how are you? Welcome back to the insanity that is Buy More High. Working with different authors has helped me realize part of the problem I was having with this fic and with Casey & Walker. I got it in my head that chapters had to be a certain length. What I've learned is get done what you're trying to get done, and it will be okay. So I think this is off hiatus. Also, your folks reviews to Pump Up the Jam made me get the itch again for my stuff (Not gonna lie the team up with SC is a blast) Don't know how regular this update will be but I know we've got at least three or four chapters left in this one, maybe more. Welcome to Ch 10, Trick or Treat
Disclaimer: I don't own Chuck, and I love this time of year.
"Really Miss Walker," Roan said with a smile taking in her costume. It was Halloween morning, and students and faculty alike were dressed up in some type of costume.
"You don't like it?" she asked, turning from one side to another to model the outfit. She was in the full Elizabeth Swann pirate costume, complete with brown vest, trousers and boots. The white shirt underneath had the puffy sleeves, and a long brown coat completed the ensemble.
"Oh, I think it's wonderful, my only question is has Charles had a heart attack yet after seeing you?" Roan's eyes were twinkling.
"I think he likes it," she replied coyly.
Roan raised an eyebrow, making Sarah grin. "I would say he's a fool if he doesn't.
Sarah leaned in towards Roan. "He said, and I quote, 'Shiver me timbers! I hope I'm getting pillaged later." Roan threw his head back and roared with laughter. "I have no idea what he means," she said innocently.
"I'm sure you don't Miss Walker, I'm sure you don't." Roan shook his head. "As for why I'm here, I think we finally have the diction right for Mr. Masters."
"I thought that was Cole's job?"
Roan rolled his eyes. "Mr. Masters struggled with Mr. Cole's accent. He was enunciating exactly as Mr. Cole, and that would have been fine, except Mr. Masters is American. I checked the rules, there a good chance points would have been deducted from Mr. Masters. I also sent an email to Mr. Quinn explaining to him all the hard work the students are doing."
Sarah smiled. "Thank you, Roan."
"Thank you, Sarah." He left and she went back to straightening the room.
"I'm so sorry I'm so late captain." Sarah turned around and saw her boyfriend with a cheeky smile. "I do hope you don't keelhaul me."
"I would never keelhaul you." She began to walk toward him slowly. "I mean you are my mate in almost every way of the word."
"Almost?" Chuck asked. Sarah stared at him for a minute and shook her head. "What?"
"Married, you numbskull."
"Ohhhh."
She tilted her head to the side. "Calm down, Chuck. I know both of us have had negative role models when it comes to marriage in our lives. I wasn't suggesting anything."
"Huh," he said, crossing his arms.
"What does that mean?"
"It means, earlier when you said you'd give me no quarter I didn't think you meant twenty-five cents." His eyes were twinkling.
She reached over to swat his arm. "Shh! You'll get us in trouble."
He grinned at her, and started to walk away, but paused. "You know sometimes when someone sees people screw up, they learn what to do and believe they can do it better."
"Oh, really, Mr Bartowski?"
"In fact, I would say, if you found someone you truly trust and rely on, you would be more than willing to take that chance."
"I take it you have someone in mind for that?"
"That's correct Miss Walker, or should I say Dread Pirate Walker."
"Keep that up Bartowski, and I'll shiver ye timbers."
He grinned at her. "You already cause me great emotion, Sarah," he said softly as he walked out. She put a hand down to steady herself on the desk in front of her.
"Blimey," she muttered.
-ooooo-
They were curled up on the couch, after the long day of school, and handing out candy. Sarah convinced Chuck to watch her favorite horror movie, Halloween. Chuck was trying not to scream every time the music changed.
"I think you did this on purpose," Chuck said to her with a glare.
She grinned at him. "Chuck, did you know that guys used to have this move back in the day where they took their dates to horror movies, just to have them cuddle into them."
He sat up, looking proud of himself. "AHHA! You don't really like this movie, you just wanted me to cuddle with you."
"Or I really like this movie, and I like you cuddling with me," she replied.
"I thought it was to make moves on women…are you trying to make moves on me woman?"
"I mean I am, but you seem to not notice."
"How can I notice that you're over there trying to hint at sexy time when I'm terrified? Huh? Tell me!"
Sarah threw back her head and laughed. "How about this? We finish this movie, you bury your head in my shoulder each time you get scared, and we'll finish with something less scary."
"We talking another movie or sexy time?"
She grinned at him. "Play your cards right, both."
"I hope not that Disney Ichabod Crane movie, that thing is scary."
She studied him a second. "You're serious."
"The Headless Horseman has a stupidly massive sword!"
"Chuck Bartowski, you can't sit here and tell me that movie legitimately scares you?" Chuck didn't say anything. "Fine, It the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown?"
"I do love the Great Pumpkin," Chuck said, leaning back into her. "That other thing should NOT be seen by kids."
"Would you let your kids see it, Chuck?" She couldn't believe those words had slipped out of her mouth but after the discussion earlier today…well, she just couldn't help herself now.
He turned his head to her. He was quite for a second, and then grinned. "Probably. I'm sure their mother isn't the scaredy cat I am." She looked into his eyes, and knew what he was up to. She nodded once turned back, and started the movie back. He hid his head into her shoulder again, making her laugh. "For the record, that comment about my kids' mother really isn't saying a whole lot."
"I'm aware, Chuck," she said, stroking his curls soothingly. "I'm well aware."
-ooooo-
Three and a half weeks later Sarah found herself in the store, shopping for Thanksgiving. Ellie and Awesome had to work, so they were having dinner at Chuck and Sarah's a few days early. Ellie had come into their house, taken over the kitchen, to Sarah's delight, and began to send Chuck to the store for some supplies. Sarah went instead of Chuck, telling him to spend time with his family.
She was in the spice aisle when her phone rang. "Hey, Ellie. No, it's fine. I'd rather go, plus we both know if we sent him there is no telling what he'd bring back. Ellie, I love him dearly, but we both know him. Okay, I'll see you soon."
She walked around the aisle, and bumped into a gentleman in his 50s. "Excuse me, Miss."
"My fault," Sarah said. He smiled at her and she noticed his eyes…eyes that reminded her of someone…two someones. "I'm sorry, I'm buying some supplies for our Thanksgiving dinner tonight."
"Uh, I don't think tonight is Thanksgiving," the man replied with a grin.
Sarah chuckled. She felt like she could be open and honest around this man and she had no idea why. "My boyfriend's sister is a doctor and has to work Thanksgiving."
"Well, that's Aces. You should always be with family while you can."
"You have any plans?"
He shook his head, a sad smile on his face. "My family and I are….estranged."
Sarah nodded. "Yeah, I'm the same way with my family. I'm Sarah," she said, reaching out her hand.
"They call me Mr. B," the gentleman replied, sticking out his to shake her hand. "Well, I don't want to keep you." Sarah smiled, nodded, and continued her shopping.
A few minutes later her phone rang again. "Ellie…yes, I have it. Nope, I'd much rather you call and make sure. Sorry I'm running late, I ran into this nice man and got to talking. He doesn't have a family to spend Thanksgiving with. Really? We don't really even know him. Sure, I have no problem with it. He seems to be a nice gentleman. Sure." She hung up her phone and searched for the man. She couldn't find him until she was out in the parking lot. "Mr. B!" she yelled. It seemed to take a second for him to realize she was talking to him. He turned towards her. "Would you like to join us for Thanksgiving Dinner?"
"I couldn't intrude," he replied. "Besides, you barely know me."
Sarah shrugged. "It's Thanksgiving, everyone deserves to be with family, blood or not."
He studied her a second, nodded, and helped her load groceries into the vehicle. He stopped before he got into the car. "Sarah, are you sure about this?"
"I'm positive, now get in." They got into the vehicle, and drove to her house. They got out, brought the bags in, with Mr. B lagging behind, Sarah not noticing. She went into the house, headed into the kitchen and began to sit things on the counter.
"Hey, Sarah," Ellie said. "Did he come with you?"
"Yep, he's right over there," Sarah said, nodding toward the doorway. "Mr. B, meet Ellie." Ellie turned toward the man and dropped the knife in her hand.
"Hello….Ellanor."
It dawned on Sarah at that moment, who Mr. B was. "When you say Mr. B?" Sarah began.
"It's Bartowski," Stephen replied. "Stephen Bartowski." Sarah looked over at Ellie, who was in shock. What had she done?
A/N: Wanted Halloween and that scene, plus I moved the story forward. Mission accomplished.….til next time…hope you enjoyed it! Reviews and PMs are always welcomed!
Chapter 10: Home Sweet Chicago
Word count 2,841
“So how was the trip to Brooklyn?” Casey asked Kelly as they walked into the locker room, Libby had separated from them and went into the office to get settled in her new role. “It was intense, her family wanted to know all about our relationship and if she was living with me and Shay. And why. Her oldest nephew wanted to know if we were going to get married.” “And are you thinking about it?” Kelly looked around to make sure Shay and Dawson weren’t around anywhere. “I thought about it. But now it scares me, she was so fragile Case.” “She has a right to be. But she is getting stronger again. Just keep being there for her.” Kelly nodded his head as Shay came into the locker room shutting down the conversation for the time being.
**
“Morning Chief.” Libby commented as she glanced up from the notes that were left on the desk by headquarters. “Morning Libby. Good trip home?” he asked pausing by her desk. “Yes sir.” she answered, “it was nice being home. But I am glad we are back.” Boden nodded his head and stepped into his office.  The youngest member of the firehouse licked her lips and looked back at the paper work.  Her eyes drifted from the paperwork to the pink cast that was still on her left wrist. She had spent a lot of time when Kelly and her family weren't distracting her staring at it. Wondering if she could have done anything at all different if it would have changed things at all.
“Hey Libs, is chief in?”  Casey asked shaking her out of her thoughts. “Yeah go on in.” She answered. He nodded his head before he paused. “You okay?”  “I am okay, just a little sad.” She said, “I am still working through a lot of this stuff.”  “You know we all will listen to you if you need us too.” He said, “You aren’t alone with this.” “I know thanks Matt.”
Kelly and Libby were in the mists of having their first major fight as a couple and it sent Shay down the street to Starbucks to wait for Kelly to take her to work. Libby wasn’t going to work that day, she was going to meet with her sister and brother in law about the grand jury that was coming up in the next week. She leaned against the counter and folded her arms under her chest and looked away from him.
“You know sometimes you drive me crazy!” Kelly said moving to where he was standing in front of her his hands bracing on either side of her. She swallowed roughly and raised her eyes slowly to meet his.  “But that is one reason why I fell in love with you to start with.” “You love me?” She asked shakily. ‘Of course I do silly girl.’ He said raising his hand and running it down her cheek.  A bright smile broke out on her face, “I love you too.” He pressed a kiss to her mouth as his fingers tangled in her blonde hair.  “You should go. Before Shay comes back here and yells. I will stop by after I am done with Erin and Jack.” She said softly. He groaned before pressing another kiss to her mouth. “Fine.’
“You ready for this?” Chief Boden asked going over to Libby who was standing in front of the court house. She was testifying that day against Michael. And then from there no one knew. Mary who had stayed behind with her wanted to take her home to Brooklyn mostly so she wouldn’t be alone while everyone was on shift. “Yeah I need to be. I am scared to death but I need to do it.” Boden nodded his head as Kelly and Shay came out of the court house, “Your brother in law is a prick.” Shay said. “I know I tell him all the time. That and I don't like him. Most lawyers in general I don't like.” Kelly nodded his head, “your mom is getting anxious.” “I know she wants to go home. She misses my dad.And my brothers.” She answered,  “But at the same time she doesn’t want to leave her baby.”  Kelly put his arm around  her and lead her into the courthouse .
**
“The defense calls Elizabeth Reagan to the stand.’ Libby released Kelly's hand and stood up. She could feel all the eyes on her and it made her even more uncomfortable. Her brother in law Jack gave her a smile and offered her a wink. She gave him a timid smile in return. She stepped into the witness stand and chewed on her bottom lip. Her fingers wanted to curl into the material of her skirt. “Raise your right hand.” The plaintiff said. Libby placed her hand on the Bible and raised her right hand in the air. “Do you swear to tell the truth? The whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you god?” “I do.” “Take a seat:” she sat down and crossed her ankles and curled her fingers into her palm. “State your name for the record.” Jack said coming around the table.
“Elizabeth Rose Reagan.” “but you liked to be called Libby correct?” “Yes.” Jack nodded his head, he could tell she was tense and she wouldn't relax until she was done. Public speaking and Libby never mixed. “what are you doing in Chicago?” “I am attending Northwestern. I am working on my bachelor's degree in American History and I am also a paramedic candidate at firehouse 51.”  she glanced away from jack and met Kelly’s and then Shay’s eyes both of whom gave her smiles. “Why here?” he asked. “I fell in love with the school and the atmosphere. I went to some many schools and what not with my dad. This is where it kept going back too.” “How did you get involved in being a paramedic? I mean you are what 21?”
“Almost. I did extra courses in high school that transferred over to a paramedic course here. I interviewed with CFD and they placed at 51. Said I would learn from the best.” “And have you?” “Yes sir.” she answered. Jack smiled, “now can you tell us what happened 2 weeks ago?” Libby licked her lips and looked at Michael and then at her brother in law. “Michael showed upset that I dumped him and wanted to stay here. When  I went home for my grandma’s funeral, he wanted me to leave Chicago.  And I thought about it and I couldn’t see myself not being here and not being in Northwestern or being at Firehouse 51. Being here has helped me find myself and become someone that I like.” “And you weren’t someone you liked when you with him?” “No, I let him take advantage of me and beat me down.” “How so?” He asked. “He beat and raped me.” She answered. “When did that start?” “When I was 16. I wasn’t ready to have sex and he made me do it.” Michael leaned over and whispered something to his lawyer. His lawyer who also happened to be his older brother’s best friend and had known Libby since she was a little girl.  She closed her eyes and took a couple of deep breathes.
“Oh no.” Mary muttered to Cindy. “What?” “She needs to get down now.” “They aren’t done with her.” Christopher said leaning over his wife to look at Mary. “She is going to lose it. And it’s not going to be pretty.” mary said, Libby rarely lost it and when she did it was ugly.
It was Danny times 10.
Jack asked her a few more questions before moving to sit down. Rodney, Michaels attorney stood up. Libby started trembling in fear. “Libby.” “Actually to you it's Ms. Reagan.” the members of the firehouse chuckled, that sass was the libby they all knew and loved.
“Ms. Reagan.” Rodney amended, “can you tell us exactly what happened that day since Mr. Boyle didn't let you finish.” “I had gotten home from my shift at 8:30.” “Is that a normal time for you to get home?” “Yes, it is. Kelly, Leslie and I grabbed breakfast at a local diner then they dropped me off.” “Now do you spend a lot of time with Kelly and Leslie?” “I do. They kind of picked me and brought me under their wings.” “And does it bother you that Kelly is a man?” “No it doesn't. He's a good guy. Why don't ask your client if it bugged him me hanging out with a bunch of firefighters.” Libby paused, “Wait I can answer it for him he was jealous. He told me all the time that he didn't like me being there and having friends.”
Rodney nodded his head, “Now tell us what happened after kelly and Leslie dropped you off at your apartment.” “I went inside, did some homework and then fell asleep.” “At say 10 in the morning.” “Yes we work 24 hours shifts and that particular shift we were in and out of the house on calls most of the shift. So the first thing I did after I finished my paper was take a nap. Before Christopher picked me up for Sunday dinner at his house.”
“Is that a common occurrence?” “Yes it is. Cindy, his wife decided to do it after I told her about how my family had Sunday dinners every Sunday since I could remember.”  Rodney nodded, “but what happened?” “instead of Christopher coming. Michael showed up.” “And you two had a nice chat?” libby laughed bitterly, “a nice chat? Are you kidding me? He beat me! Do you think I did this to myself?” “No.” “Well the way you are acting, makes me think you think that. Do you think I deserved this? That I deserved to be beat and raped? That I deserved to lose my baby? That I deserved to be lead to believe that I wasn't good enough for anyone?” Libby's voice rose as tears started coming down her cheeks.
“Ms Reagan.’ the judge said. “I'm sorry your honor.’ “let's take a 10 minute recess. You may step down Ms. Reagan.” libby nodded her head and stepped down. She walked out of the courtroom quickly.
The rest of 51 and Mary followed her quickly. “Libby.”  Shay said turning her head right and left. “I am right here.” Libby said from where she was sitting on the bench, her cheeks tear stained. Mary moved around them and went over to her daughter’s side. “You did good.””They are going to put me back up there and I don’t want to do it again. I can’t face him again.” “Yes you can.” Matt said kneeling down in front of her, “You are strong Lib, so strong, you survived everything that he put you through and found the will to carry on. And you are going to do that. Not you only have your family but you have all of us. We will have your back no matter what.” Libby nodded her head, “Got it Lt.” He laughed, “Matt is just fine Lib.”  She laughed and wiped her cheeks off, “I am going to go clean my face off.”  Matt squeezed her hand and let her stand up. “Shay, go with her.” Mary said softly, she knew even though she was playing off like she was fine, she would probably go cry in the bathroom before going back into the courtroom.
Shay and Gabby followed Libby into the bathroom and watched her splash cold water on her face. “I wanted to punch Rodney in the face.” Gabby said. “I have, that’s Michael’s older brother’s Francis’s best friend. He made me mad one night and I slugged him for it’ “You slugged a lawyer?” Gabby laughed. “Yes I did and I slugged 3 cops and kicked an ADA in the nuts.” Libby laughed, “Everyone i grew up with either became lawyers or cops. So yeah.” “And you are paramedic.” “Yep, I have my own ways to serve.” She said as Kelly peaked his head in, “They are ready for you Lib.” Libby nodded her head, “let's get this over with.” She muttered. Kelly put his arm around her and lead her back into the courtroom. Michael’s eyes were on her in an instant, she chose to ignore him and sit closer to kelly who wound his arm around her.
She rested her head on his shoulder wanting nothing more than to curl up on his lap just stay there but she knew that she couldn’t do that. “Ms. Reagan we are ready for you again.” The judge said. Libby nodded her head and stood up from her seat and went back the front of the courtroom. “I am sorry your honor.” The kind man that reminded her grandpa Henry smiled at her, “You are quite alright.” He said, “Mr. Smith, go ahead with your questioning.”  “Why not end it before it got too far?” “I was young and scared. I didn’t know any better, he had me all twisted up. He had me believing that I wasn’t good enough for anyone including my family.” “And what gave you courage to end the relationship?”
“My family at Firehouse 51. After he beat and raped after my grandmother’s funeral i worked up the courage to finally tell my family and my co workers what had been happening.” “Who did you tell you first?” “Outside of my twin brother and my grandma?” Rodney nodded his head. “Matt Casey, Kelly Severide, Andy Darden and Leslie Shay.” “Why them?” “Because Matt told me my first day that if I ever had a problem that i could come to him. So I did. They sat with me while I called my family and told them.”  Rodney nodded his head as Libby’s eyes widened. “Ms Reagan?” He asked. She didn’t answer, she just pointed her finger at the approaching man that was reaching into his pocket. “You pushed my daughter to her death you son of a bitch!” The man shouted pulling a gun out. Libby frozen in her spot she knew that Michael was no angel but this part was too much for her to handle.
“Libby! Get down!” Kelly yelled as he and Matt tried to get to the man that was waving the gun around. Three loud bangs went off  followed by a loud thump. She looked up and saw that Michael was slumped on the floor. The paramedic side kicked and she rushed down from the stand and over to her ex boyfriend. “Michael.” She said her hands pressing against the bullet hole in his chest.
“Shay! Dawson! Rodney was hit too!” She called over her shoulder as Hermmann came over to her side and applied pressure to the other wounds. He wanted to just let him die for all the pain he caused Libby but seeing the distress that she was made him and the other firefighters jump into action. “I am sorry Lib.” Michael said reaching his bloody hand up and grasping her uncasted wrist, “You are too good for me. I am sorry for this.”
‘No. Michael don’t you dare.” She said tears streaming down her face. Kelly came up behind her and put his hand on her shoulder, “Lib, baby, the paramedics are here, let them work.’ He said softly. Michael’s blue eyes landed on Kelly. “You take care of her. She deserves better than me.” He said his hand going lax around Libby’s wrist. “No! No! You keep your eyes open damn it.” Libby ordered as Kelly started pulling her back. The other paramedics rushed forward to try and revive him. He kept his hold strong on her. Shay and Dawson went over to his side and watched as Crawley pronounced him DOA. “No! No! No!” Libby repeated as Kelly turned her around in his arms and let her bury her face into his chest. “Shh. baby. Shh.” He said softly.
**
“Everything looks good here Lib.” Hallie Thomas, Matt’s girlfriend said smoothing down the last piece of tape of her cast. “Thanks Hallie.” “You’re welcome. Matt told me what happened are you going to be okay?” “I don’t know, he is the only guy that I have seriously been with and now he is gone.” Hallie nodded her head putting the roll down.
“Is it bad that i feel like i didn’t do enough to save him? I could have done more to save him.” “Libby, sweetie, the bullet hit his heart there was no way you couldn’t saved him.” She nodded her head before lowering it so she wouldn’t see the tears. Hallie sighed and went over to her put her arms around her letting her cry. She knew that she needed to let it out before she walked out of the room and went back around the family.
Chuck vs. The Suburbs Part 4
Tumblr media
"I send you there undercover and you not only nearly expose Mr. Bartowski to FULCRUM but to an entire cul-de-sac of civilians?" Beckman yelled at you all as you all sat in Castle. "No excuses, General, we pooched it." Casey said. " No. No, we didn't pooch it. We didn't pooch it. General, look, I-I saw something on that computer, okay? I saw... pictures." Chuck explained. " How illuminating." "General, they weren't regular pictures. They were like Intersect pictures, embedded files, like the ones that Bryce sent me, only... very different." "We think Chuck could have FULCRUM programming in his brain." Sarah said. "And you Ms. L/N?" "Oh! No. No Fulcrum stuff in here." you told her, pointing at your head. "In that case, I'm pulling Mr. Bartowski from this operation. But as long as Ms. L/N's cover is intact, I want you two to lock down the cul-de-sac, monitor FULCRUM, see what else you can uncover before we make a move on their cell. The Carmichaels are getting a divorce." You and Chuck looked at each other and were shocked and a little sad.
You were sitting in the house with Sarah. "Y/N, I just need to go see Casey for a few. I'll be right back." Sarah told you before leaving. Chuck then called you and you answered real quick. "Hey! Please tell me you're coming back to the house. I know we are fake divorced but we are still dating for real." "Y/N! Baby! Listen to me. You have to get out of there. Okay? You, Sarah and Casey have to get out of the cul-de-sac immediately... I just flashed, I just flashed on something. I think it was FULCRUM... it was something that I... I uploaded off the computer, okay." "What?" "The company that built the neighborhood is a front. It's not just a house. The entire neighborhood is FULCRUM." "Oh my God..." You then heard the doorbell. "Someone is here Chuck and Sarah left. It could be her though. She may have forgotten her key." "Just be careful." You slowly walked over to the door and opened the door. It was a neighbor. "I'm so sorry about what happened with your husband. It must have been awful. It's times like these you need your neighbors most." She told you, handing you a tray of brownies. "Oh. Thank you." You didn't want to let her in so she ended up pushing you back in, gun pointed at you, Sylvia then showing up behind you, doing the same thing. You ended up dropping your phone. "Y/N? Y/N! What's happening? Y/N!" you could hear Chuck shout.
You ended up being taken at a Fulcrum facility and handcuffed you to a chair. You saw they had Chuck strapped to a chair and something attached around his head. He was slowly waking up. "Y/N? Where's Y/N?  Y/N? Where's my wife?" Chuck called out. "Mr. Carmichael, she isn't your wife. She's a CIA agent. And so are you." Sylvia told him. "Wha... What do you want with me?" " You have got a very special brain. Don't worry. We're going to do everything we can to not damage it ." Brad told him. "Damage? Damage? What is he talking about?" "What you saw upstairs was a small part of a computer program. The CIA designed it to implant intelligence directly into agents through encoded images." Sylvia told him. " But the CIA gave up on the program. They decided to slug it out, fighting the war on terror using Cold War tactics." Brad jumped in. " But we're training agents who are ready to fight tomorrow's wars." " How would you like to be a part of that future?" "How would you like to be part of FULCRUM?" "What about... What about her?" Chuck asked, looking over at you. "Look, I'll do whatever you want, just let her go." " Don't tell me you have feelings for your partner?" Sylvia asked. "Boy, you really let her get into your head, huh?" " What did she tell you? That someday you two would be together? Maybe settle down in a cute little cul-de-sac like this one?" " You're funny." " This place isn't real. Her feelings for you aren't real." " Don't worry. This next part should help you get over her. If he survives it." "That's where you are all wrong." Chuck told them before they got him ready for the test.
They were all set to start the test on him and you were forced to watch. "Chuck!" you yelled. "He can't hear you." Sylvia said. "You know you were both absolutely wrong. I love Chuck. We've been together for 2 years now." "Oh! Well this just made it more fun." They all then put sunglasses on for protection and did the same to you. You watched in fear as they put Chuck through the test. It must have been the same test that Chuck accidentally found.
Once it was done, the lights went out and then they uncuffed you and grabbed you as they brought you into the same room where Chuck was in. Chuck was sitting there very still and you began to panic. "Oh my God. Chuck!" They quickly checked on him and began to think he didn't survive the test. "Oh, he's toast." "Chuck!" you cried out again. " Get him out of here. Dump him where you dumped the others." When they began to unhook him he all of a sudden screamed. " What just happened?" Chuck asked. " Mr. Carmichael. Do you know where you are, Mr. Carmichael?" Sylvia asked. "Beneath Meadow Branch subdivision in a FULCRUM lab that was built as part of a secret initiative." Chuck answered. But he didn't sound like himself. He almost sounded like a robot. " What initiative?" " To rebuild the Intersect computer." " Oh, my God, it worked." Brad said. "No." you said, trying to pull away from the two agents holding you but they had a good grip on you. " Can I ask just one more question?" Sylvia asked. "You mind if we, uh, test your wife next" "Wife? I don't have a wife." You wanted to cry. Sure you weren't actually married, just dating, but the fact that Chuck may not know who you are anymore killed you. Chuck got out of the chair and the agents brought you over to the chair and strapped you in now.
Little did you know, Casey and Sarah snuck in to the room where they controlled the test. Chuck saw them and gave them a wink.
"Before you run the test, I'd like to tell Agent L/N something." Chuck said. "Agent L/N. Now we have a name." Sylvia said.
You looked up at Chuck with tears in your eyes. Chuck slowly bent down close in front of you. "Close your eyes." Chuck said quietly to you. You looked at him confused then looked across the room and saw Casey and Sarah, both with sunglasses on and about to start the test. You quickly closed your eyes and then Chuck pulled you in close as soon as the test began. You shut your eyes even tighter and buried your face in Chuck's neck and he did the same with you. The Fulcrum agents who were in the room with you all either died or were very messed up now. You stayed like that until the test was all done. As soon as you knew it was safe you slowly lifted your heads and Chuck cupped your face. "Baby, are you okay?" Chuck asked you. "Yeah. You?" "Yeah." Chuck quickly got you out of the straps and then you stood up and hugged him tight. "I thought I lost you there." "I'm right here Y/NN. I'm okay." Chuck told you, turning his head a little to kiss your temple. Casey and Sarah then came walking and you both turned to look over. "Someone call the cable company?" Casey joked.
The next day, you and Chuck were hanging around Orange Orange, waiting for Sarah to come up. You both were resting against the counter when you heard the door open and Sarah walked out. "Hey, everything okay?" you asked. " Yeah, just a routine debriefing." " Uh, so Y/N and I were wondering if we could swing by the old cul-de-sac tonight." Chuck started. " Why?" Sarah asked, confused. " Uh, I don't know, I mean, I... you know, I figured we've still got the place, and Ellie still thinks we're house-sitting, so I thought that, you know, we could maybe enjoy a night in the suburbs, order in, rent a movie. No mission to worry about, just Mr. and Mrs. Carmichael. Maybe have some fun." "We could really use it after all that." you added. " Chuck, you guys can't go back there. It was just a cover." " Yeah, we know that, we just thought that..." " Casey and I have to shut down the operation. Can we talk later?" " Absolutely." you said, as you and Chuck began to walk off. " Uh, guys?" "Yeah." "I'm going to need those back." Sarah said, pointing at the wedding rings. "Right" Chuck said, beginning to take his off. "Almost forgot." you said, doing the same thing. You looked at each other then handed Sarah the rings.
You and Chuck went back to his place, suitcases in hand. "Hey! House-sitting really changes things, huh?" Ellie greeted when she looked over and saw you both. "Absolutely." Chuck said. "Listen Ellie, we are super beat right now. We are just going to go upstairs and nap and we will talk all about it later. Promise." you told her. "Sounds like a plan." You and Chuck smiled at her and then headed upstairs.
"Sooo.... after these past few days what do you think?" you asked, as you went to sit down on his bed. "About what?" "About you and me...having a place of our own one day?" Chuck smiled at you and sat down beside you. "Definitely in the cards. Just as long as we don't move to a place where our neighbors are a bunch of evil spies." "Of course!" you said , laughing a little. "No but seriously. I do want that for us one day. Hopefully soon. It may take some time." "Right, with our jobs and everything and not making the greatest money." "Yeah." "But I think if we work hard, and save, it could definitely happen soon." you said, looking at him and smiling warmly. "Absolutely." Chuck said, smiling back at you and then he leaned in to kiss you.
