You hate each other, right? (Tierna Davidson x Reader)
This wasn't requested or something I actually planned to write, but writers block is a bitch. Titles are hard, this isn't edited and I don't think this is very good, but here it is. Hope you enjoy :)
I'm going to try work on my actual wips so we'll see how that goes.
Warnings: None that I can think of, but let me know if I need to add anything.
Words: 4k
Tierna and I had always had a strained relationship. By that I meant we absolutely hated each other for years. Honestly, seeing as many many years had passed, we could barely remember what had caused the problem in the first place. Something to do with an injury or something.
Everything between us had changed one day when our argument ended in making out instead of shouting like normal. It seemed that over the years the hatred had turned to romantic feelings on both sides. After the kiss, there was lots of awkwardness and avoiding each other until I finally just asked her out one day when we were alone in the elevator. We had decided to keep everything on the downlow as first so we could learn how to have a relationship that didn't involve fighting or hatred. It wasn't actually that difficult because I quickly became addicted to everything Tierna. If her clinginess was anything to go off, then it was safe to say that Tierna felt the same.
To keep everyone from getting suspicious, the last couple of months we had kept our outside relationship the same. There were glares, not talking to each other, and scoffs when the other spoke. The mean comments we used to make had pretty much stopped now. I couldn't bring myself to say anything bad about her, not when I was falling for her faster than I could keep up. If anyone ever asked, I just couldn't be bothered with it anymore.
We had just gotten back from training. Tierna and I were glaring at each other as always while Emily stood between us as a kind of buffer. Tierna and I were sharing a room like we had been for the most part of the year. It was the teams way of trying to get us to get along. Little did they know how well that actually worked.
The glares lasted until the door closed behind us, finally away from the prying eyes of our team mates. Tierna turned, soft smile replacing the scowl as she fell into my arms. My hand slipped under her shirt, nails scratching along her back as she sighed, kissing my neck softly.
"You okay love?"
"Just tired and I missed you today."
"I was with you the whole day."
"Well yeah, but I couldn't touch you let alone look at you nicely. I was craving cuddles all day."
"I'm sorry, we have the rest of the evening to cuddle."
"We have team bonding tonight though." Tierna pouted, moving to find comfy clothes. I groaned at the lack of contact, moving to wrap my arms around her waist. She gently shrugged me off, moving away from me. It was a clear sign she was upset about something. I lay on the bed, allowing her space to change and decide if she wanted to come to me or not.
Tierna sat on the other bed for a few minutes scrolling through her phone before she sighed, throwing it back on the bed and walking over to me. I opened my arms, letting her lay on top of me, head resting against my neck. "I don't want to pretend to hate you anymore. It's exhausting, I hate that I can't even smile at you when we're around them, I can't run to you during games or hold your hand or be close to you like I need when I'm tired, nervous or down."
"Okay. Well, we can start being friends in front of them."
Tierna looked up at me, "Yeah?"
"If that's what you want. I'm sorry that we haven't been able to do any of that stuff. It's not that I don't want to, trust me I hate it as much as you do if not more. All I ever want to do is be with you, my favourite thing in this world is your cuddles. I would prefer to keep our relationship to ourselves for a bit longer though."
I had always preferred to keep my relationships more private, but it was also in part because we constantly got roomed together in attempt to make us get along. I wasn't ready to have that change yet. Not just because I liked sleeping in the same bed with my girlfriend, but also because I hated change. It wouldn't be a big deal if my roommate changed pretty much every camp, that didn't happen so I had gotten used to Tierna and our routine. I dreaded that changing.
"Thank you. I'll just be happy with a smile or maybe a hug every now and then. There's no pressure to tell them about us, whenever you're ready I'm ready. I know you're scared about your routine changing and we'll protect that for as long as we can. And if or when it does, I've got you. Always."
I brushed a piece of hair out of her face, soft smile making it's way onto my face. We hadn't said the three big words yet, but I had known for a while that I was in love with her. Everything with her was warm, comforting, safe. "I love you T."
A grin made it's way onto her face before she kissed me deeply, "I love you Y/n."
---
It had been two weeks since we had agreed to be more friendly. We had decided to slowly start being more friendly so it wouldn't be suspicious. At first it was just stopping the glares and actually saying a few words that weren't mean or snarky. Now we had decided smiles and maybe some proper conversations were the next step.
We were at breakfast, Tierna sat at the table across the room while I sat with Emily and Rose. I hated that she was sat away from me, but unfortunately it had always been that way. Tierna sent a small smile my way. I sent a small smile back managing to stop the grin trying to escape. Emily and Rose followed my eyeline, confusion covering their faces when they noticed it was Tierna I was smiling at. I just shrugged going back to eating my breakfast.
My peace only last a few minutes until Emily spoke up, "So have you and T have worked things out? There seems to be less glares, more smiles."
"I guess so. We actually talked a couple of weeks ago and could barely remember why we didn't like each other. We're trying to be friends."
"Finally. Maybe we'll all be able to be in the same room peacefully."
Over the rest of camp, the smiles and conversation became more frequent. The confusion or shock that covered the teams face for the first week was hilarious. Thankfully, after the initial shock, they seemed to back off their nosiness a bit. They seemed to realise we were more friendly without their prying eyes. It was nice though, being able to actually look at Tierna or be around her even if I couldn't touch her much.
---
Camps had always been one of my favourite things. I loved being around the girls, just getting to train and mess around. This time though, I almost wanted to just leave. Since Tierna and I were becoming 'friends', we had finally been roomed with different people. We had only been at camp for two days and my nerves were through the roof. They had been since I arrived. It wasn't what I was used to and I wasn't entirely sure how to cope with it. My whole routine had been disrupted without warning. The team knew I didn't like change, but I guess no one really thought this was something that would affect me too bad.
Training had finished an hour ago, dinner and team bonding weren't for a few hours and I was stuck on my bed fidgeting with my fingers. Alyssa sat down next to me, nudging my shoulder gently, "Are you okay Y/n?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm okay."
"I call bullshit."
A sigh slipped out as my head rest against her shoulder. I didn't have the energy to pretend to be okay, "I love you Lys, really I do, but I hate this."
"Hate what?"
"Not rooming with Tierna. I know I used to not like it and we only just recently became friends, but that's what I was used to. For months, we had our routine, it didn't change much if at all. Just a bit of extra talking. Even then I knew what to expect. Now, it's all changed without warning and I don't think I'm coping very well with it."
"So, it's not just because you don't get to share with your girlfriend anymore?"
My head flew up, every muscle in my body tensing, "What?"
"Relax, I'm the only one that knows. I saw you guys making out in a hidden corner of the stadium when I took a wrong turn. You two are obviously pretending you're not great friends and hiding it for a reason. I haven't and won't tell anyone."
"Thank you Lys. I wish this was just because of that, but it's not. I don't deal with change very well at all. I like my routine and now it's completely different. If we hadn't been forced to room together for months, no routine would be formed and it wouldn't be this bad."
"I'm sorry that you were forced into a routine then forced out of it. We can see how you go for a couple of days and if it's not getting better then we can talk to coach and see if we can switch."
I smiled, accepting the hug she offered. It wasn't Tierna, but it was a close second. "I'm not mad at the forced rooming. I mean, T and I wouldn't be together without it. This is one of the reasons we haven't told anyone, to try hold onto my routine."
Much to my confusion, there was a light knock at the door. As far as I knew, everyone was hanging out in their rooms before dinner. My head buried in my hands, really not up for visitors as Alyssa went to open the door. Arms wrapped around me, my head resting against a stomach before the unmistakable smell of Tierna filled my senses. "Before you ask, Alyssa messaged saying you could use me so here I am."
"Thank you Lys."
"Always. I'm going to go for a walk, see you at dinner."
Tierna guided me to lie on the bed, cuddled up against her. It was probably the first time since camp started that I fully relaxed. "Love you T."
"I love you. I know this is difficult, but at least with Alyssa knowing we have more of a chance to see each other."
---
"Are you okay Y/n?" Christen asked as her and Alex sat on either side of me. I knew the team were getting concerned at how withdrawn I was and I appreciated they cared. However, getting asked multiple times a day if I was okay, was getting on my nerves.
"I'm fine." I snapped, retying my boots for the fourth time.
I knew I was being grumpy, but I couldn't help it. This whole routine change had messed with everything, especially my sleep. I was tired and stressed, trying to adjust and create a new routine. It wasn't working very well, but I was trying not to show it much. I didn't want to seem childish or be judged for my lack of adaptability. Tierna was trying her best to help, there wasn't much she could do beside comfort me. Alyssa had also been understanding, not taking my discomfort personally. There wasn't much she could do either though.
Alex and Christen gave me a look before pulling me away from everyone else, "Talk to us."
I sighed, burying my face in my hands, everything that had been happening spilling out. They let me talk, not saying anything until they were sure I was done. Christen rest her hand on my shoulder, squeezing slightly. "We get you're trying to tough it out, to adapt, but you could have told us before it got this bad. It's well known you don't do well with change and I guess we didn't think much of this since you had different room mates in the past. We'll talk to coach and see if you can change rooms assuming it's okay with Tierna and Rose."
"I'll be fine, I'll get over it."
"No, we need you to be at your best. So we'll talk to coach after practice."
"Thank you. Before you say it, I know I will need to get over it at some point. I won't always be able to have Tierna as a roommate. I'm working on it, my therapist is helping. I just think the lack of warning and no time to mentally prepare didn't help."
"We'll never tell you to get over it Y/n/n, but we are glad you're trying. We hate seeing you like this, we just want you to be okay."
Later that night when I finally made it back to my room after being dragged to hangout with Emily, I found Tierna lying on my bed, book in hand. I straddled her waist, kissing her forehead then nose and lips. "Well hello."
"Hi."
"Alyssa is rooming with Rose. I think you need an early night, you look exhausted."
"I think you're right. Sleep hasn't been easy the last few days."
---
Tierna: I'm thinking it's time for a date day. Sneak out with me?
Y/n: Don't have to ask me twice. I'm going to head back to the room to change, meet me there?
Tierna: Perfect, can't wait x
After making the excuse of planning to spend the day relaxing in the room, I slipped out of the meal room to get changed and meet Tierna. It wasn't unusual for me to spend a day or two at camp alone to recharge so I knew it wouldn't cause any concern aside from a text or two.
Soft lips landed against mine as soon as Tierna entered the room. "Hello to you too."
Tierna pecked my lips, "There was not enough of that this morning."
"Well if you had woken up when I tried then there would have been more kissing time."
"It's an off day, what's the point in waking up early?"
"Make out time."
"Whatever. I was thinking, we shower and make out more, then check out that book shop you were talking about. I didn't think about what else, but we can get lunch and there is a beach not far from here."
My arms wrapped around her waist, kissing her forehead. There hadn't been a lot of time to ourselves so I was very excited to spend the day with her. "Sounds incredible. I'm sure we can find some lowkey stuff to do. Could you imagine the shit we would get if the team found out about this from social media?"
"Shit, I didn't even think about that. Sneaky date day it is!"
As per Tiernas plan she dragged me into the shower, spending more time with her lips attached to me than actual shower activities. Not that I was complaining in the slightest. Tierna and I spent a lot more time in the room than originally planned, it being almost lunch time when I finally dragged Tierna out of the hotel.
We spent a while exploring the little book shop, taking our time looking at the different books and stealing kisses behind the book shelves. It was risky, we both knew it, but at the same time I was having too much fun with her to care. Though we weren't doing anything overly exciting, just getting to spend some alone time with the girl I loved was enough for it to be the most fun I had in a while. Spending time with the team was always fun, but it didn't compare to spending time with Tierna.
After finally dragging ourselves away from the book shop, we got sushi deciding to eat in the park. Thankfully, there weren't that many people and we managed to find a relatively secluded area.
At the start of the day, we had very much intended on actually doing things. However, we ended up spending quite a while lying on the grass at the park just talking. Since the start of our relationship, most of our time would be spent talking. At first it was getting to know each other properly, then it was just something we enjoyed. Tierna was one of the only people besides Emily that I could spend hours talking and not get bored. I never was much of a talker, but I actually looked forward to our talking time. Between games, training, meetings, and spending time with the team, we hadn't had a lot of time to just talk. Despite rooming together, by time we fell into bed, we were just ready to sleep.
Eventually we dragged ourselves up, making our way slowly to the beach, stopping at a few shops along the way. We walked along the beach, finding a hidden away part near the end. Tierna settled between my legs, back against my front as I nuzzled my face into her neck, "You're beautiful T. I've never been more grateful for our meddling teammates. I love you."
"I love you. This is something I never saw happening, but I would never want anything else. And I would never admit to them how thankful I am for their part in this."
"Oh never in a million years will I admit that to them. Thank you for today T, it's probably one of the best days I've had in a while."
"Really? We pretty much talked all day which is not what I planned."
"My love, any day I spend with you is amazing. Maybe it wasn't what you planned, but I don't care T. I love just talking to you and with how little time we've had together lately today was amazing. I love you, I loved today so please stop feeling bad like I know you are."
Tierna turned to look at me, not saying anything for a second while her eyes roamed my face. Probably making sure I was telling the truth. She pecked my cheek before whispering, "How did I get so lucky with you?"
"You didn't hit me when I kissed you that night."
"Didn't even cross my mind. I think by that point I was starting to realise that maybe I didn't hate you like I thought."
"Looking back you were blushing a lot around me then. No different to now I guess. You're just better at hiding it around the team."
My forehead was pushed back, Tierna pouting while I tried to stifle my laugh. She was adorable when she pouted. "Shut up asshole. Speaking of the team, we should probably head back soon."
Unfortunately for us, a few of the girls were lingering in the lobby and not at dinner like we had anticipated. The thought to hide was quickly pushed away when they all turned to look at us. "Where have you two been? We came to get you for dinner, but obviously you weren't there."
I had checked social media a few times just to make sure there wasn't any thing about us since a few people had stopped us for pictures. Thankfully, nothing had been posted yet and if it was the pictures were all innocent so I knew it was safe to make up a little lie. "We just went for a walk."
Emily pulled me into a headlock, normally I could get out of her hold pretty easily, but I was tired and not really in the mood. "Where was my invite? You know you're bestfriend incase you've forgotten."
My eyes rolled automatically, finally managing to push her away, "Em, stop being dramatic. It was a very last minute thing, not some conspiracy to leave you out. You are and will always be my bestfriend."
"Yeah whatever. I don't think you two willingly spending time together without killing each other will ever get old."
"Maybe not, but your comments already are. Now isn't there dinner then team bonding?"
---
The game was almost over when Tierna ended up on the ground due to a miss timed tackle. She didn't get up straight away and I saw red. Before I even fully realised what was happening, my hands were on the chest of the player who took Tierna down, pushing her back multiple times.
"Are you fucking stupid? You could hav-"
Arms gripped mine, pulling me back and finally snapped me out it. "Y/n, Y/n stop."
My arms went up in surrender, walking back to Tierna before I could do something stupid again. I knew I had gotten a yellow card, but the only thing that mattered was Tierna. I wanted so badly to hold her hand to comfort her properly, but I knew I couldn't. Instead I squeezed her shoulder gently, relief washing through me when she finally got up.
Everyone stared at us as Tierna and I walked into the locker room. I knew it was coming, I had just hoped it would be a few of the older ones and not everyone. Christen gave me a pointed look, Alyssa and Alex joining in.  "What the hell was that Y/n?"
I shrugged, avoiding eye contact. I wouldn't say I regretted it because I wasn't sure I did. Though, I had likely disappointed them, something I hated doing. "I lost my temper."
"You never lose your temper Y/n. You don't even lose your temper when I go down and I'm your best friend. Yet you lose your temper when someone you're barely friends with gets tackled." Emily stated, arms crossed. There was no way they would let this go, it was definitely out of character for me. I had always been a calm person, never violent or short tempered. The look Tierna gave me told me she was thinking the same. This was it.
My arm wrapped around Tierna's shoulder, pressing a light kiss to her temple, "Well, become my girlfriend and apparently I will."
"You're what!?! You're fucking with us."
Questions and statements were fired our way, everyone shocked and confused how we were dating given the way we acted. "Shut up." Once everyone was quiet, I spoke again, "Yes we are together. We have been for about 9 months. We kept our same dislike or barely friend act so we could keep it between us for a while. We needed to work out how we worked together after actually not liking each other for a long time. It was nice in our little bubble. And before you ask, no I wasn't not coping with the different room assignments because of it, my routine changed suddenly and my brain didn't like that. That should answer your questions, can I shower now?"
They looked at us in disbelief before I just walked away knowing we would be hit with more questions later. Tierna pecked my lips before going to her own shower, "That was hot. Don't make a habit of it though, you don't need to be getting in trouble. Also thank you for answering all those questions. I do not have the energy right now."
Before Tierna could actually get into the shower, I grabbed her arm, pulling her back into me. Now that she had taken her shirt off, I finally had the chance to make sure she was truly okay. My hands ran along her sides and up her back before hugging her tightly, "I've never done anything like that before. I just, I saw you go down and I snapped. Seeing you hurt, well it worried me in a way I've never felt before. You sure you're okay?"
"This side of you is adorable. I've never seen you so worried before. I'm okay, I promise. There might be a bruise or two, but I'm okay."
"What can I say? I've never been in love like this before. I always worry about you T, but seeing you down is a whole different type of worry. I love you."
"And I love you."

So That’s The Secret - Tierna Davidson/Reader
prompt: R and Tierna visit family in a different state. R has to cop up a tree cuz winter is coming and her family live in like a cabin or something. And Tierna is ✨gay✨ and loves watch her chop wood
warnings: none
words: 1182
Tumblr media
(Y/N) POV
“I can’t believe you grew up here,” Tierna said.
I grinned at that as Tierna climbed under the blanket with me. We were laying on the couch watch some of the soccer matches that were on the TV.
“Wait until you find out that we built it ourselves.”
“You built this?” Tierna asked.
She was glancing around at the walls.
“Don’t worry, it won’t fall down,” I assured her. Tierna turned to glare at that. “Yeah, we built the house together as a family. We had always lived out here, but when I was a kid we built the house. It’s kind of like a tradition. I mean, Mom and Dad built their first house together when they got married.”
“You guys really do go all out and live off the land, huh?”
“Yeah, sometimes. I mean, we don’t really grow our own crops or raise our own animals, but we do go hunting and we often use what’s around us,” I said. Tierna only stared up at me. “I mean, Dad has been building houses since he was a teenager with Grandpa. I used to work with him was I could.”
“Is that the secret as to why you’re in such good shape?”
“Are you guys still trying to figure that out?”
“Babe, there is no way that you are that ripped.”
“I’m not that ripped.”
“You really are,” Tierna said. I shook my head at that as I settled back into the couch again. “Ali wants to know the secret so she can make Ash do it.”
“Of course she does,” I said as I rolled my eyes at that. “It gets pretty cold here, so maybe I’ll show you.”
“I don’t understand how it feels so much colder here than in Chicago,” Tierna said before she looked up at me. “Are you not cold?”
“I come back usually during the off season and I lived here growing up, so I’m kind of used to it,” I shrugged. It really didn’t bother me which was why I often was found training in shorts and t-shirts even during winter. “You get used to it eventually.”
“Not really sure I want to get used to it.”
“So the Colorado cold is getting to you?” I asked as Tierna pulled herself closer to me. “We can always build a fire, you know? My parents won’t mind.”
“If you don’t need it, then neither do I,” Tierna said.
I shook my head at her. I really didn’t mind building a fire for her since I knew how cold it could feel.
“Darling, I really don’t mind make a fire for you. I don’t want you to get sick,” I said softly. This trip really meant a lot for both of us. “I would hate for you to have to spend most of your time while we’re here feeling bad.”
“But you’ll have to chop wood. I heard your dad talking about how he needed to do that today,” Tierna grumbled as she buried her head into the crook of my neck. “It’s freezing outside.”
I gave a small chuckle at that. I had been chopping wood for years now. It was honestly part of my secret of how I had built so much of my muscle.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ve been chopping wood since I was a teenager. I’ll go chop some wood and I’ll be right back,” I said. I gave Tierna a small nudge so I could get up. “Why don’t you have a cup of hot cocoa while I chop the wood?”
Tierna whined as I stood up but she stood up as well. I wasn’t surprised when she took my suggestion and headed toward the kitchen. I grabbed a jacket before heading outside. I picked up quite a few of the logs before laying them close to the chopping block that we had. I peeled my jacket off before I grabbed the axe.
“You’re really going to chop wood in this weather without a jacket on?” I looked up to see Tierna standing on the porch wrapped up in a thick jacket with a mug of hot cocoa in her hands. “And you were worried about me getting sick?”
“I find it too restricting for me personally,” I shrugged.
With that I got to chopping the wood. I didn’t pay too much attention to Tierna as I kept my focus on making sure I was splitting the wood and not myself.
But I did want to give Tierna a show as I picked up one of the pieces that I had partially split to pull it apart with my hands. I sent her a grin and a wink when I realized that she had her phone out and she was recording me.
“Now that’s the secret.”
Tierna, however, probably wasn’t paying as much attention to what I was saying and her jaw was opened slightly at the display. I smirked to myself before turning back to chop the wood.
It hadn’t taken me much longer to finish chopping up the wood. I noticed that Tierna was headed back inside as I was placing all of the wood I had chopped into the log tote I brought out with me. Once I had the wood situated, I pulled my jacket back on before carrying the log tote in with me.
I placed the wood near the fireplace before I worked on building the fire. Once I had the fire built, I pulled my jacket off again as I turned around. Tierna was already sitting on the couch under the blanket again. This time she held two mugs of hot cocoa. I grinned as I settled back down into the couch and Tierna laid back onto my chest.
I was a little surprised when my phone lit up next to the couch. I reached out to pick it up before opening up snapchat as I had very obviously been tagged in something by Tierna.
I wasn’t too surprised by the videos and pictures Tierna had posted of me from being outside. It was the comments though that had me blushing though. A lot from our fans whether it was fans of the national team or the Chicago Red Stars. But there were also comments from our teammates too. One caught my eye.
alikrieger: So that’s the secret?
I chuckled at that and I had to admit that I felt a little bad for Ash as I was sure that Ali would probably try to get her to chop some wood.
“You know, one day I would love to build a house like this with you,” Tierna said. I looked down at her with a smile. I couldn’t lie and say that I hadn’t thought about building my own house with Tierna one day. “I wouldn’t even complain about living out here in Colorado if we did.”
“Let me guess, you would want me to chop all the wood.”
Tierna only sent me a grin as she shrugged before she turned back to the soccer match that was currently on the TV.

Big Bad Bruin (Tierna Davidson) 1
Tumblr media
(re-upload wow hello first fic i ever wrote)
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3
Prompt: R is called back to USWNT for the 2019 January training camp after a year off for healing an injury. R is a forward but is basically a little Naeher with her aggression and stoic behavior, that is until she meets someone who makes her stutter.
Anon requested Tierna with no specifics so I just kind of .. went with it?
Word Count: 4700ish (I seriously don’t know WHY it is so long, sorry..)
Readers POV:
A year ago, an ankle injury kept me off the field and out of the January USWNT camp and the 2018 Shebelieves Cup. This year however, they’d have to physically pull me off the field if they wanted to keep me from playing.
“Little Naeher!” A familiar voice shouted, sprinting over to me. As soon as I felt the hands on my shoulders and the weight thrown against me, I knew it was the USWNTs personal flying squirrel who was the first person to spot me.
“Hey Kels.” I chuckled, unwrapping the defender from my body.
“Y/N, you can’t just let me hug you once?” Kelley pouted in response from being removed from me, crossing her arms.
“I might let you hug me but flying squirrel tackling me is another story. Now stop pouting, when you look like that it’s hard to believe that Mallory is the baby and not you.” I just chuckled now as Kelley narrowed her eyes and stuck her tongue out at me.
“Actually Tierna is the baby now, Mal has got a few month’s on her. It’s nice to have you back kiddo.” The newest person to spot my appearance was Alyssa who gave me a signature side hug and ruffled my hair. Immediately my hand went up to flatten out my hair and I gave the keeper a little side glare, causing a rare full laugh from her. Hair taken care of, my attention switched to Naeher’s words.
“I forgot about Davidson.” I muttered, thinking about the young defender who had made her first cap after my ankle injury.
“Oh yeah, you get to play with T for the first time ever. She’s a peach!”
“A peach, O’hara? That is the most Georgia thing I’ve ever heard you say. Now come on, it’s time to get on the field! Oh and hey Y/N, glad you’re back.” Carli ushered us forward, clearly itching to start the 11v11 game we’d been working towards all practice. I inclined my head towards her in thanks before jogging onto the pitch. Kelley grinned wide as a Cheshire cat when captain tossed her the penny and I smirked in return, playing against Kelley was sure to be one hell of a way to get back in the swing of the USWNT.
—-Third Person—-
Y/N was electric on the field and Tierna couldn’t keep her eyes off of her. Even paired with the vets, the twenty two year old was a powerful force. Her ball control and speed was clearly a force to be reckoned with, playing some sort of zipper game with Christen as they raced around the field. Tierna held her breath watching as the forward engaged with Kelley, the two small girls locked in a tense battle for the ball as their teammates gave them a large breadth.
“Conflicted on who to cheer for over there, Baby T?” Tierna nearly jumped out of her skin when Moe popped up beside her. The jump and the startled look on the Stanford players face sent Moe into a fit of laughter, earning a light slap from the younger girl.
“You scared the heck out of me! Also, yes actually. I mean I almost always cheer for Kelley because wel-”
“She’s your role model? Yes, we know.” Moe cut her off, waving a hand dismissively.
“Yes, exactly. Seeing Y/N out there against her though, she’s incredible.” Tiernas focus was completely back on the field, watching as AD tentatively went to Kelley’s aid.
“Oh definitely, I think we all forget that you two have never played together.” Moe was of course referencing the recent soccer year where Tierna had made her first cap while Y/N was out on an ankle injury, thus keeping the two girls from playing together.
“Is she always so aggressive?” Tierna asked, watching as Y/N found her way out of the trap the two defenders had placed her in. With a quick move around Kelley, the forward was back on her feet and moving quickly towards Naeher. The two players’ facial expressions seemed to mirror one another as the young girl slid past Becky, managing to get the ball to Press who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere.
“Absolutely, it’s scary to be on the other side of for sure. We don’t call her little Naeher for nothing, their mannerism is one and the same.” Moe informed Tierna who was, of course, still entranced by the game. When the ball managed to slip past Naeher’s glove, even Tierna found herself on her feet cheering. The stop in play led to a water break and the water break led to substitutions.
That is how Tierna found herself in her current situation. The Stanford player had taken Kelley’s place at center back and was now staring at the side of Y/N’s head as she stood reading the field. From here, Tierna could see the depth of concentration in the forwards eyes and it chilled her to the bone.
When a strong kick from Carli sent the ball flying past Julie, both of the girls kicked into gear. Tierna quickly darted forward, her chest nearly colliding with Y/N’s shoulder as she raced towards the ball. Seeing the opportunity, Tierna burst upward. Sadly, Y/N saw the opening and the small girl threw herself into the air. Moments later, the ball was forgotten about and both girls had fallen to the grass. The girls heights had played against them as smaller Y/N’s forehead collided with the side of 5’10 Tierna’s jaw.
“Holy shit, are you kiddin-” Y/N had pulled herself to her feet, cursing internally and a little externally. She was about five seconds from chewing her teammate out for the misplaced header until her eyes locked with a pair of unfamiliar, shockingly stormy eyes. Still on the ground, Tierna blinked up at the older player, her mouth hanging open as if she had something to say but with nothing coming out.
“Fuck, I’m so sorry. That was so sloppy on my part, you had a clean jump.” The apology, and the curse word, came tumbling out of Y/N’s mouth before she could stop it. Underneath her the freckled defender blushed a bright red, at the apology or the position she wasn’t sure. Before she could accept the forward’s extended hand, a loud gasp was heard and a wide eyed Julie came storming across the field.
“Uh-oh…” Tierna whispered as a wide eyed Y/N was brought face to face with the blonde midfielder.
“I know you did not just hurt the baby and then CURSE at her!” Julie’s hand was wrapped tight around the collar of Y/N’s royal blue practice jersey, putting the two girls’ chest nearly touching. However this didn’t last for long as the girl seemed to regain the composure she had lost after colliding with Tierna. Bringing a strong hand up, Y/N removed Julie’s fist from her jersey but she didn’t step away. In fact, Tierna gulped from her spot on the ground as Y/N stepped even closer to Julie so that their noses were almost touching.
“Firstly, I didn’t curse at her, I cursed in general. Secondly, she’s twenty, Julie Beth, I think she can handle me saying fuck.” Julie’s eyes were wide as saucers as her friend and teammate stared her down, not blinking once. Seeing the aggressive energy Moe had mentioned earlier first hand sent chills through Tierna’s body. There was something about watching the older girl treat her as something other than the team’s baby that made her heart feel like it was going to beat out of her chest. The sounds of cleats on the ground separated Julie and Y/N, the former almost shaking like a leaf.
“Damn Y/N/N, you’re back for barely two hours and you hurt one teammate and accidentally scare the fu- heck, scare the heck out of the other.” Dunny laughed, slinging an arm around Julie’s shoulder who had now calmed down and was pouting. Crystal’s words made Y/N spin on her heels though, her bright eyes focusing on Tierna who was still in the grass.
“You’re not hurt are you? I didn’t hurt you right?” Her eyes continued to scan Tierna up and down, eyes raking over her body and making Tierna blush even brighter.
“N-no, I’m uh, I’m fine. Just gonna have a little bruise.” Y/N had reached her hand out again and this time Tierna took it, clumsily stumbling to her feet and making Y/N giggle a little as she tried to find her footing. The interaction was not missed by the teammates closest to them as Lindsey immediately turned to Rose with wide eyes.
“Did Y/N/N just giggle? Did I hear that right?” Lindsey whispered and Rose nodded her head up and down so quickly that she looked like a bobble head. Naeher also noticed it from the goal and threw her ‘mini me’ a confused look. Y/N, realizing her slip up, coughed and looked at the ground as she shuffled her feet, fighting a blush.
“See, she’s fine. Can we please get back to the game? I really wanna get back to beating Julie’s ass.” Her spunk and sass was back as quickly as it left and with wide eyes, Julie broke into a grin as the girls set back out onto the field. Tierna jogged to her spot, shaking her head to try and clear the thought of the muscular forward standing over her out of her head.
————
That night, the girls were settled in Kelley and Sonnett’s room. Why was it that Jill decided it was a good idea to room Frat Daddy and Frat Daddy Jr. together? The team may never know. However, it certainly made a good spot to do team bonding.
Ashlyn and Ali had launched into a Krashlyn level argument about dog names, receiving input from Rose of course since dogs were the topic of conversation. Lindsey and Mal were telling some sort of very animated story to the rest of the team who were all watching in either interest or confusion. And, as per usual, Y/N was late.
“Guys?” Tierna finally asked after Mal had finished her tangent, gaining the attention of her teammates.
“What’s up kiddo?” Kelley asked, throwing her arm around the shoulder of the team’s baby.
“Why isn’t Y/N here?” Rose suddenly wasn’t focused on the topic of dogs, Lindsey stopped telling her story, and Alyssa’s attention strayed from her phone.
“Oh, you can always count on her to be late.” Alex laughed from the other side of Kelley and the rest of the team laughed or agreed. Tobin explained that that’s why they hadn’t actually started team bonding yet because well, it wasn’t bonding if the whole team wasn’t there.
“Why are you so worried about her being late?” Mal asked in typical nosey Mal fashion. Tierna’s eyes went wide and her face flushed as she opened and closed her mouth.
“Nothing, no reason, just wondering.” The words stumbled out of her mouth and she knew full and well that none of her teammates believed her.
“Wait a minute, baby T, you don’t have a cr-”
“NO!” Immediately, Tierna cut off Casey, not letting the woman finish her sentence. Most of the team awe’d and Tierna mentally cursed herself for even asking in the first place.
“Awww baby Stanford has a crush on our big bad Bruin.” Kelley cooed, pinching at Tierna’s cheek who slapped her hand away. The slap wasn’t playful though, it connected with a solid whack and the team grew dead silent. Kelley stared at her hand in shock and Tierna started to stutter out an apology when the hotel door opened.
“I know y’all are used to me being late so what’s up los- why are y’all silent?” Y/N looked around the hotel room in confusion, all eyes still on Tierna.
“Tierna?” Y/N questioned gently, very confused by the situation she had walked into. Suddenly, Tierna was on her feet and brushing past Y/N, heading out the door. She watched the tall girl flee the room, face bright red. The gentle expression Y/N had watched Tierna with was gone now as she turned on her teammates with fire in her eyes.
“What the hell did y’all do.” She hissed, her eyes scanning the guilty faces. Ultimately, they landed on Kelley who couldn’t even meet her eyes.
“We were just joking with her Y/N, she wa-”
“No, I don’t care. Clearly Tierna didn’t think whatever you were talking about was funny. Did you all not see how hurt she looked?”  Stalking over to Rose, she held out her hand which Rose timidly placed her hotel room key into. Turning on her heels, Y/N headed out of the room to go talk to the team’s youngest player.
When the door slammed behind her, the team let out a collective breath that most of them hadn’t even noticed they were holding.
“Holy shit.” Casey said, eyes locked on the door. Most of the girls muttered something similar or some form of agreement.
“I have never seen her get so defensive.” Kelley said, gaining her teammates attention. “I mean, we’ve all seen her get angry before because it happens all the time like on the field today but that, that was defensive.”
“Lyssa, what was that?” Mal directed the teams attention towards Y/N’s self declared mentor who was staring off deep in thought as she often was.
“I don’t know.” Naeher admitted, clearly still partially stuck in thought. “I mean the only time I’ve ever seen her get this defensive was over Fleming that one time when Pugh said something about Canad-”
“Wait.” Mallory cut off Naeher, a terrible thing to do in most situations but tonight was proving not to be a normal night for the USWNT. “Fleming. Like, Jessie Flemming? That was who she got defensive over?”
“Yeah, why?” Alyssa questioned, tilting her head to the side like a puppy. Matter of fact, most of the team looked like that at the moment.
“Oh shit!” Jane gasped, connecting the dots. The team turned towards the bleach blonde goalie who was sitting with her hand slapped over her mouth. “That’s who she was talking about after that friendly with Canada.”
“What? She was talking about a girl?” Pinoe was now intrigued, confused as to why their assumedly straight teammate was talking about Flemming.
“Oh my god, do we have to spell it out for you? I thought the gays were supposed to be able to sense each other or something.” Mal was met with a pillow to the face from Kelley and a few pointed looks from some of her teammates.
“I’m just saying,” Jane started, ignoring Mal’s comment, “that the last person that Y/N got defensive over was Jessie Flemming, aka the Canadian player that she had a huge crush on.
“A crush on?!” Kelley screeched, nearly flying from the couch. Krashlyn were both staring wide eyed, Preath both had their jaws nearly on the floor, and Pinoe was a combination of everyone else.
“Y/N is gay?” Ali finally asked. The younger girls were looking at the vets like they were idiots seeing how the forwards sexuality wasn’t something she hid.
“Wait, bro, no, wait.” Sonnet was the one connecting the dots now, which of course meant everyone else must have been really slow for Emily to beat them to the punch. “She got defensive over Flemming because she had a crush on her and now she just got crazy defensive over Baby T.”
“Holy shit, Y/N has a thing for Tierna.”
——
After a brief moment of trying to find the right room, Y/N raised her fist and knocked on Tierna’s hotel room door.
“Go away Kelley, I don’t want to talk about it.” The reply was muffled but clear and made Y/N’s face drop a little. She wasn’t sure whether to be amused that Tierna thought that it would be Kelley of all people coming to check on her or upset that she didn’t think it would be her. Though, it is probably fair she didn’t think it would be her as the two girls had only met officially for the first time today. Of course, Y/N knew Tierna. A player like her was hard to forget and after the UCLA loss to Stanford, Tierna’s face was burned into her memory. However, she wasn’t sure she was complaining.
Knocking once more, she put in the key card and unlocked the door. Pushing it open slowly, she stepped into the room while narrowly dodging a pillow thrown at her head.
“Kels, I said I don’t want to talk about it or her or any- oh shit.” Tierna’s eyes went wide when she saw Y/N standing infront of her and not the other little defender she had been expecting. The older girl on the other hand let out a full laugh.
“I’m sorry.” Tierna muttered, suddenly very interested in picking at her fingernails.
“No, no, it’s fine. I just, I don’t think that was a very Baby T appropriate word.” Y/N giggled and Tierna felt all the blood rush to her face. The older girls laugh was light and airy and it certainly didn’t help an embarrassed Tiernas beating heart.
“God, please don’t tell Julie.” Tierna buried her face in her hands as Y/N made her way into the room.
“I won’t, she’d probably say it’s my fault for being a bad influence.” When Tierna risked a glance up, there was a mischievous sparkle in Y/Ns eye that paired too well with the smirk on her face. “Can I sit?” She asked, motioning to the bed beside Tierna and she simply nodded in response, still not really trusting her voice.
“So,” Y/N started, flopping down onto the bed beside Tierna, laying on her back and staring at the white ceiling. “What’s wrong?” Tierna sighed and flopped backwards too, mimicking the other girl’s position.
“Nothing, the girls were just bullying me.” She admitted, staring off into the distance.
“About?” Panic set in for Tierna when Y/N asked the question. How was she supposed to even respond to that?
“Um, nothing important.” It was a blatant lie and clearly Y/N thought so too as she rolled to her side and propped her head up on her hand, staring at the side of Tierna’s face.
“I think you’re lying.”
“You do?”
“I do. You mentioned a ‘her’ when I walked into the room so something tells me that there is something or well, someone, very important taking up space in that big ol brain of yours.” Y/N said, reaching out and lightly flicking the side of the defenders head. Tierna furrowed her eyebrows and turned onto her side so she was facing Y/N now as well.
“Big ol brain, huh?”
“Don’t change the subject, tell me about this mysterious her.” Y/N was dead set on finding out about this mystery girl in Tierna’s life because frankly she was worried that this girl was going to ruin any chance she had with the forward before she even got to try.
“You’re not letting this go are you?” Tierna pouted and Y/N flashed her a signature smirk.
“Nope.”
“Um, fine.” Tierna racked her brain, trying to think of how to say what she wanted to say without exposing herself. “I mean, she isn’t really anyone to me.”
“She isn’t? So like, no girlfriend problems or anything?” The younger girl flushed bright red at the word girlfriend. By no means did she hide her sexuality but she certainly didn’t expect to be somewhat called out on it.
“Um, no, not girlfriend problems. I don’t have a girlfriend.” Something about her admitting that made Y/N smile, though she tried to conceal it for the sake of the other girl.
“So, a crush?”
“I guess you could call it that.” Tierna admitted. Y/N furrowed her brows a little but unlike when she had furrowed them and yelled at Julie earlier, there was no anger on her face, just confusion. The look was enough to somehow prompt more words to come fumbling out of the klutzy girls mouth.
“I mean I don’t know if I can call it a crush? It’s just, I don’t know her super well. We only met recently but she seems super cool and she is just like, gorgeous I guess.” Y/N smiled and nodded her head in understanding as Tierna explained the situation.
“I get that, I’ve been there before actually.” The admittance seemed to get Tiernas interest but Y/N didn’t want to be the topic of conversation at the moment.
“Really?”
“Yes really, with an old teammate actually but we don’t need to talk about me right now. What is this crush of yours like? Does she play soccer or did you meet her at Stanford or what? Would I know her?” Y/N fired off questions and Tierna looked for a path out, desperately needing a way to navigate this war path. However her mind was stuck on what Y/N had said about the crush she had on an old teammate. An old teammate meaning someone she played soccer with. Meaning a woman. Oh thank god.
“Um, yeah you’d know her so that’s why I would rather not say who it is but yeah she plays soccer.” Tierna figured there was no harm in admitting a little bit and she could watch as the gears in the other girls head seemed to visibly turn as she tried to figure out who it was.
“Who does she play for?”
“Um…” Not being able to find an answer she stuttered and Tierna could see her make the connection.
“Oh my God, it’s a teammate!” Y/N exclaimed, her eyes lightning up. She prayed that outwardly she was putting on a good show but internally she was cursing the idea of Tierna thinking about one of the other girls. Was it Mal? Sonnett?
“Yeah but like please don’t freak out over it, it’s not a big deal and I’m not going to do anything about it and-” Reaching out and putting a finger to Tierna’s lips, she effectively shushed her rambling. Once again the freckles that covered her face were now placed onto a bright red background and as Y/N pulled away her finger she tried to ignore the softness she felt against it.
“Sorry, you were rambling. Why won’t you do anything about it?” She questioned, not understanding why the gorgeous girl in front of her wouldn’t go after the person she liked without a reason. “I mean unless she’s straight or lik- Wait! Shit, she isn’t married or something is she? I mean I wont judge but babe that’s a whole other situation…” Y/N trailed off as she saw Tierna’s eyes grow wide and the blush that had been on her cheeks consumed her entire face and neck.
“No! No. God, no. She isn’t married. I don’t even think she’s in a relationship but I don’t really know.” Y/N breathed a sigh of relief and for the first time, Tierna laughed, and when Y/N heard it she decided she had found her new favorite sound.
“Then why not do anything about it?”
“I don’t think she’d like me back.” Tierna had turned her focus to her fingernails at this point, picking at her cuticles to the point that they would almost certainly bleed later.
“Then she’s stupid.” With three words, Y/N effectively captured Tierna’s entire attention.
“What did you say?” She asked, now looking up with big bright eyes at the other girl.
“I said if she doesn’t like you back, then she’s stupid.” Being met with silence, Y/N decided to continue. “I mean come on, you’re a fucking superstar. You have the prettiest freckles and your eyes are so stunning they even rival Christens. Looks aside, if she’s a soccer player then I don’t know how she isn’t falling for you simply because of your skills.” The spheil was much more emotional than Y/N normally got and she glanced down at the younger girl who was staring at her with watery eyes.
“Hey, no. Don’t do that! No crying, come here.” Turning onto her back, she scooted up against the headboard and pulled Tierna into her chest. The defender tensed at the sudden touch but she didn’t pull away. Matter of fact, she nuzzled her head into the crook of the other girl’s neck and tried to blink away her tears.
“That was, that was really nice.” Tierna whispered. Above her, Y/N smiled. With precise movements she pulled the hair tie out of Tiernas hair and let her brown waves fall out to frame her face. Gently, Y/N began to run her fingers through the girls hair slowly.
“It’s just the truth Tierna, you’re an amazing person and an incredible player.” Her voice was at hardly a whisper now, not wanting to be loud right in the girls ear.
“You’ve hardly seen my play.” Tierna mumbled into Y/N’s neck and the older girl shivered at the vibrations it sent up her body, an action that didn’t go unnoticed by a slightly shocked Tierna.
“That’s actually not true. I’ve actually played against you before.” Lifting her head up slightly in surprise, the Stanford player looked up into the other girls eyes.
“There’s no way, I would have remembered that.” There was no way that Tierna could ever have forgotten a face like Y/N’s.
“I was a little different back then. It was the D1 Women’s Soccer Championship in 2017, it would’ve been your sophomore year. You little fuckers beat us by one goal and Kelley and Christen will never let me live it down. I’m not surprised you don’t remember, I know that was a crazy year for you.” Tierna was immediately running through memories of that game, lots of which were blurred due to the results of the afterparties with her teammates on campus. Until it hit her, the same way she had hit Y/N.
“Oh my God, I remember. I hit you with the slide tackle that cost you that first goal right before you came back and assisted Fleming on her goal. I completely forgot that you even play for UCLA!” Y/N’s eyes lit up that Tierna remembered the slide tackle and her assist.
“That’s right, I even have a little scar somewhere that proves that it was absolutely not a clean tackle no matter what that damn ref said or the people that named you the Pac-12 defender of the year.” She grumbled the last part but of course Tierna heard she was laying on her chest. They were quiet for a moment and then they both erupted into laughter.
“So see, I do know that you’re an amazing player. And I’m starting to learn that you’re a pretty amazing person too, any girl would be lucky to have you.” Y/N said softly, continuing to curl pieces of Tiernas hair around her fingers as she brushed through it gently.
“Any girl?”
“Any girl.”
And so they laid like that, only moving so that they could pull the blankets up over them at one point when Y/N started to get goosebumps and Tierna insisted she cover up. What Tierna didn’t realize was that the girls goosebumps weren’t caused by the cold. In the silence, both girls’ eyelids grew heavy and they started to drift slowly off the sleep. Before they could get there though, the young Stanford player whispered softly.
“Y/N?”
“Yes, Tierna?”
“I don’t see why you act so tough with the other girls.”
“I have a reputation to keep, love.”
“Maybe, but I don’t think you’re some big bad Bruin like they do.”
“You don’t?”
“Nope,” The younger girl cuddled in closer and Y/N smiled, pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head. “I just think you’re a big ol baby bear.” Tierna yawned.
“Maybe I am.” What Y/N didn’t add after that was - for you.
With that, the girls fell fast asleep, completely forgetting their teammates who were still sitting anxiously rooms away.

Y'all remember in 2020 when Tierna was healthy and living her best life and I wrote this? Yeah me too. Missing that!!!!!

— — —
Four siblings, one a very famous NFL quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. You always have looked up to Tom as your hero, your big brother. Playing for University of Michigan for women’s soccer is amazing, but sometimes the comments on how you got accepted just because of who your brother is can be overwhelming.
Tom always has told you that he didn’t have a hand in getting you accepted into UM. Always saying that if he did have a hand into getting you in the University of Michigan you would certainly know it.
You and Tom always got along, from surfing and playing golf, to playing video games and cooking food. It didn’t matter what the two of you did, but somehow you both really clicked together. Not that you didn’t click with Maureen, Julie, or Nancy, but you just had this titanium tight bond with Tom.
When the rumor was going around that you might be getting the call to play with the USWNT for the 2020 Olympics, Tom was the first person that you told. He flew up to Michigan for a few days to see you on his off days, both of you waiting anxiously for the call.
On his third day in Michigan that’s when the call came in. Putting Vlatko on speaker for you both to hear what he had to say. When the USWNT coach told you had made the team, Tom took you out to celebrate. Your older brother got a little out of control, from announcing all over his social media accounts to even throwing a huge party for you.
You had been playing soccer since you were a little kid. Your parents Tom Brady Sr. and Galynn Patricia Brady always made sure you had everything you needed to be the best you could be. Yes, sometimes they could be a little bit much, but they just wanted you to be happy.
When watching the USWNT on the TV you always focused on the midfielders. But, you couldn’t help taking a personal liking to Tobin Heath, Ashlyn Harris, Kelley O’Hara, Ali Krieger, and Christen Press. They intrigued you a lot from their playing styles to their silly demeanor off the pitch.
— — —
Now here you were at the hotel for the first camp before the Send Off Series. You had been assigned to room with Tierna Davidson, but when you got to your room she wasn’t there.
Looking at the clock you saw you had a half an hour before the team meeting. So to pass some of the time you decided to unpack, that is until your phone dinged, signaling you of a new text message.
Putting down your UofM hoodie to pick up your phone, smiling at the text message your brother had sent you.
“𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐤𝐢𝐝, 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮. 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐬 𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐈 𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐬.”
You laughed softly, shaking your head as you texted him back. “𝐈’𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫, 𝐓𝐨𝐦. 𝐁𝐮𝐜 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐮𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭, 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐰𝐡𝐨’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆.𝐎.𝐀.𝐓. ! 🐐🏈”
Tears from laughing so hard filled your eyes at his response.
“𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐲 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐈 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐘/𝐍. 𝐁𝐮𝐭, 𝐢’𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐘/𝐍/𝐍. 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬. You were just in the middle of responding before he texted you again. “𝐁𝐔𝐂 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌 𝐔𝐏! 𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐘 #𝟏𝟐 !”
Deciding that things could be left said like that, and only having twenty ministers remaining before the meeting started you decided to head down to the conference room to see who was there.
— — —
Once in the conference room you saw that Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski and the rest of of the staff were in there, you introduced yourself to them.
“Hi my name is Y/N Brady, i’m the new midfielder.” You smiled softly, as you stuck your hand out to Vlatko.
“Of course ! It’s great to finally meet you in person Y/N ! You can get settled wherever you’d like, the others should be arriving shortly.” Vlatko had told you with a soft smile of his own. The staff had introduced themselves, before you had sat down in a chair in the back row of chairs.
A few minutes later your new team members started to file in. Some gave you confused looks and others simply just smiled at you. You were happy that they hadn’t drilled you with questions yet.
Well, that was until a certain blonde defender chose to take the seat next to you. “Hi i’m Emily Sonnett, but you can call me Sonnett or Sonny.” She smiled brightly at you, with her hand held out to shake yours.
“Y/N Brady.” You returned the smile as you shook her hand with a firm shake. Turns out some of the teammates around you, were in fact ease dropping on your introduction.
“Like as in Tom Brady? Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback? Tom Brady?” Turns out the person who had sort of figured you out was USWNT Vet Alex Morgan.
You nodded slightly with a shy smile on your lips. “Yeah he’s my older brother.” You said softly, your anxiety spiking up inside you slightly by the new found attention. You knew you would have the spotlight on you sooner or later, but you didn’t think it would be that soon before someone figured you out.
“That’s so cool!” Sammy Mewis said as she came to sit by you with her sister Kristie. Noticing how shocked you were by the sudden attention, Kristie discreetly told Sammy to calm down a little.
About ten minutes later the rest of the team which included Tierna, Megan, Crystal, and Rose had walked in. Seeing the whole team come in Vlatko started the team meeting.
In the first fifteen minutes of the meeting Vlatko was talking about how excited he was to be coaching this amazing team. Then came the shoe you were waiting to drop had dropped.
“We have a new member on our team as you all see. This is Y/N Brady, make sure to give her a warm welcome.” He nodded your way, which caused everyone to turn to look at you.
“Hi..” You gave a short wave with a small smile. On the pitch your a total monster who strikes fear even into the ones who had a reputation to be a total beast. But off the pitch? You keep your emotions to yourself and only share what you feel with a select group of people (Tom being the number one person you go to).
Vlatko decided to take the spotlight off of you, saving you for only the next half hour to an hour before personal questions would be sprung on you.
— — —
At dinner you were sitting with Sonnett, Rose, Tierna, Sammy, Lindsey, Kristie, and Lynn. You had connected with Sonnett and Tierna the most. You were all laughing at a tiktok of Kevin Hart and Pete Davidson when Kelley, Tobin, Christen and Alex walked over to your guy’s table.
“What are you kids laughing at ?” Alex asked you all with a raised brow and a amused smile on her lips.
“Y/N showed us this tiktok of Kevin Hart and Pete Davidson at someone’s house.” Sammy told the vets when she finally calmed down from laughing so hard.
“Can we see it ?” Kelley asked you with a curious tone. Your head nodded, before handing her your phone so that they could watch also. A minute later Kelley handed you back your phone with a amused grin.
“We just wanted to let you guys know that team bonding is in our room tonight.” Christen said softly, before glancing at you with curiosity in her eyes.
“I’ve convinced Chris to let you guys decide amongst yourselves who gets to pick the movie. Also Chris agreed to let you guys bring snacks this time.” Tobin chuckled as Christen grumbled under breath with a playful eye roll to the older forward.
“Y/N want to pick the movie ?” Lindsey immediately asked you. Everyone around you looked at you waiting for your answer with either curious looks or small smiles.
“Uh yeah sure i’m down for that.” You nodded as you slipped your phone back into the pocket of your joggers. The vets returned back to their seats, as you and the rest of the young ones resumed your conversations.
— — —
You and Tierna walked to Tobin’s and Christens room which was only at the end of the hall by the elevators. Once you both were let in that’s when Crystal and JJ called you over to where some of the Vets were hanging out.
Making your way over to one of the beds, you sat down slowly as Megan made room for you to sit. “So, Brady how do you like the team so far ?” Megan asked you with a tilt of her head.
“Great actually. Everyone I met really has been very welcoming so far. No one’s really pushed the being Tom Brady’s sister subject yet, so that’s nice.” You played with the ring on your left middle finger, it was from your birthday. It didn’t have any gems on it, but you loved it because Tom had gotten it for you not only for your birthday but because you had just received your 20th cap for UofM.
“Glad to hear that, because if they weren’t I would be putting the fear of God in them.” Becky joked with a bright grin on her lips. The statement had caused Pinoe, JJ, Crystal, Carli, and Abby to start laughing.
“Brady’s actually really dope !” Sonnett defended as she heard Becky’s statement. Crystal and Abby laughed while the other three playfully rolled their eyes at the young defender.
Just then Tobin, Christen, Kelley, and Alex walked through the hotel room door. They all came to join the other Vets on the bed. That’s when Christen had decided to be first one to push the subject you hadn’t want to push yet.
“So what’s it like being Tom Brady’s little sister ?” Christen had asked you as she made herself more comfortable on the bed. You had wondered why Tobin and Christen were late to the team bonding meeting when it was in 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 hotel room, but you opted to answer her question.
“It’s great, besides the press following us around nonstop when we hangout. It gets a bit to much for the both of us, especially during our seasons.” You nodded along with your answer, as you continued to play with your ring.
Christen was going to ask you another question, but Tobin had cut her short of it. “So what movie did you pick for us to watch ?” Tobin asked as she smiled at you. She knew by the way you avoided eye contact when the family subject came up made you more anxious. In the future you would have to thank her for being so attentive to detail.
“I was thinking Venom.” You grinned brightly which did not go unnoticed by your older teammates. Oh how they would find out why that movie made you beam up would shock them all to hell.
“Well then let’s get to watching it then !” Kelley beamed, as she made herself comfortable on the bed.
— — —
You ended up on the floor with the rest of your young teammates, occasionally you would peak at your phone to see the score of Tom’s ongoing game.
The movie had just reached the middle, when you started to get sleepy. Your eyes fluttered shut for a few minutes then opened again. Leaning over to you Kristie told you to go to sleep, you argued with her in hush whispers before you had fallen asleep mid retort.
— — —
Waking up around 6 am, you grabbed your phone to look at the text message your brother had sent you when you were sleeping.
“𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 ? 𝐎𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐘/𝐍/𝐍 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚 𝐛𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐬𝐬 ! 𝐖𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 🏴‍☠️ 𝐆𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐤𝐢𝐝 , 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐣𝐚𝐰𝐬 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨 !”
You laughed quietly as you put the back down. That’s when you noticed that you were back in yours and Tierna’s hotel room, which means either Tierna or a Vet had carried you back.
You figured that you had a few hours before breakfast, so you just stayed in bed and thought about your future with this team. Maybe in the near future you would be more open with them, but you were still testing the waters with them. What made you curious was how Christen was acting around you yesterday, it was like she was trying to make you uncomfortable.
You definitely had a lot to learn about them, but you were all in to do so. You thought about how you were starting to feel a little homesick already, Michigan has been your home for two years now and you certainly enjoyed the life there. About ten minutes later you started to drift off, until a soft knock to your hotel door brought you back to being semi awake.

Halloweentown - A Tierna Davidson Imagine
Tumblr media
Prompt: Tierna x reader setting up Halloween decorations, being idiots, making cookies and watching Halloween classics together
Y/N loved Halloween. It was her favourite time of year. She loved giving out candy (and eating the leftovers), she loved dressing up, she loved decorating the house with decorations ranging from scary to cute, she loved Halloween movies, she loved anything to do with Halloween. She spent 11 months of the year waiting for October.
Tierna woke up and stretched, looking at the clock that read 7am. She scrunched her eyes and rolled over to curl into Y/N’s side and go back to sleep but was met with empty sheets. Then she heard the probable reason she woke up so early. There was a lot of shuffling coming from the living room which sounded like cardboard boxes being moved around on the hardwood floor. Tierna rubbed her eyes and got up to investigate.
 “What are you doing?”
Y/N looked up from the box she was rifling through. She grinned widely and stood up and walked over to where Tierna was standing. Tierna couldn’t help but laugh at Y/N’s outfit. Y/N had combined pieces of various Halloween costumes, a witch’s hat, a black cape, a fake stethoscope, and cowboy boots.
“You’re up! Come on, help me pull the decorations out of this box.” Y/N grabbed Tierna’s hand and pulled her over to the box.
“Y/N, it’s not Halloween yet,” Tierna said.
 “It’s October 1st! It’s Halloween month!”
Tierna saw the genuine joy on her girlfriend’s face and just shook her head and shrugged.
“Since when do we have all these Halloween decorations?” Tierna asked.
“Since I moved in,” Y/N pulled out a string of lights, “Go check if these work.”
Tierna did as she was told, content to let Y/N take the lead on the decorating front. She looked at the string, seeing that only half the lights lit up.
“Only half of them work,” Tierna told Y/N.
“Fuck, okay,” Y/N began digging through the box again and pulled out another string. “Try these.” Tierna did and told Y/N that none of the lights were working on that string. Y/N cursed again and pulled out a third string. Tierna plugged them in and let out a whoop when she saw all the lights working.
“Great!” Y/N said, “Let’s put these pumpkin covers on them.” Y/N brought over a box of small plastic pumpkins and starting putting them over the lights.
“I’ll throw these two strands out,” Tierna said, then freezing at the glare Y/N gave her.
“What do you mean throw them out? Just put them back in the box.”
 “Y/N, they don’t work.”
“So? We might need them. They’re not hard to fix, I think. Just put them back in the box, babe,” Y/N said.
 “Ooookay…” Tierna said.
After they finished covering the lights and hanging them up around the window, Y/N dove right back into the box.
“Y/N,” Tierna said, “Maybe we can take a break and have some breakfast.”
 “Not hungry,” Y/N said.
“Well, I am. Come on, we can keep decorating after breakfast, okay?”
“But–” Y/N was cut off by her stomach growling.
“Not hungry huh?” Tierna teased. Y/N blushed.
 “Okay maybe a little hungry.”
“Come on,” Tierna held out her hand for Y/N and led her to the kitchen.
After breakfast, Y/N grabbed another box, this one full of costumes. She pulled out a pair of angel wings and handed them to Tierna.
 “Here, put these on.”
“So you’ve already decided what my costume is,” Tierna said.
“You can be whatever you want but today we’re going to wear as many of these as we can.” Y/N put a top hat on Tierna’s head.
“So we’re going to be every Halloween costume today.”
 “Yep!”
After they put on as much as they possibly could, Y/N grinned and demanded they take a picture. Y/N posted it to her Instagram and Tierna sighed, knowing how much teasing she was going to get from everyone.
 “So what now?” Tierna asked.
“Movie marathon!” Y/N pulled Tierna over to the couch. “I decided that today we’ll tackle all the Halloweentowns and tomorrow we can do Scooby Doo, and then–”
“Y/N, we can’t spend the entire month just watching Halloween movies.”
“Not the entire month, obviously, but there’s a lot we have to get through, so we better get started on them!”
It turned out that Y/N knew every line to Halloweentown and all Tierna could do was shake her head at the adorable Halloween nerd she was dating. Tierna liked Halloween, but she felt that she could learn to love it if it made Y/N this happy.
Suddenly, Y/N shot up out of her seat.
“I forgot we have to bake the ghost cookies!”

Tierna had been very distracted recently. She was on her phone more and hanging out with the team less.
As slick as she thought she was, it wasn’t hard for the team to figure out that something else was at the front of her mind.
Right now, everyone was gathered in the hotel lobby, trying to figure out what to do for the night since it was a free day.
“Hey T,” Emily bounced up to her.
Tierna was quick to shut her phone off and stuff it in her pockets.
     “What’s up?”
“We were gonna head to the mall, then dinner. Wanna join?”
“Uhh..” the woman trailed off as she felt her phone buzz in her pocket. Pulling it out she saw a text from you. “I-I think I’m gonna skip tonight. Yeah, I have some things I need to do. By myself. All alone.”
Emily looked at her strangely and backed away slowly.
“Alright,” she muttered and watched Tierna practically sprint out the door.
The blonde headed over to the rest of her teammates with a contemplative look on her face.
“Has anyone else noticed Tierna acting weird this camp?”
The question had everyone thinking about the defender’s behavior these past couple days.
     “I say we follow her.”
     “Kelley,” Christen exclaimed.
     The woman only shrugged.
“What? We’re all curious and you can’t tell me you aren’t the least bit worried.”
The forward glanced away before letting out a sigh, knowing that there was no way she could convince the woman otherwise. Once Kelley had a plan, she was able to convince anyone she needed to join in and it was obvious that this time wouldn’t be any different.
-
When you and Tierna heard that the next camp was happening not far from your residence, the two of you were excited. With your anniversary so close, it was nerve wracking, trying to figure out how you were going to make things work or just completely reschedule.
The two of you had mutually agreed that Tierna should stay at the hotel, though. As much as you both enjoyed cuddling up to each other at night and waking up to kisses peppered across your face in the morning, you still wanted your relationship to be private.
You wanted your guys’ relationship to be yours and you couldn’t do that if you had 20+ women and millions of fans bombarding you with questions everytime they see you together. From the stories you’ve heard from T, her teammates sounded like pretty good people, but right now, meeting them just wasn’t your top priority nor was it frequently on your mind.
Now that your anniversary had finally arrived, you and the defender had been texting today more than usual. You were setting up last minute details and getting conformations from her, wanting to make sure everything was perfect for today.
Before you knew it, she was coming in the door with that huge smile on her face. Immediately, you hopped up from the couch, and wrapped your arms around her tightly.
“I missed you so much,” you muttered into her shoulder.
Tierna placed her hand under your jaw and tilted your head up, giving you a passionate kiss that made your head spin.
“Missed you too,” she mumbled against your lips.
She moved forward to press another kiss against your lips but you moved back.
     “I made dinner; your favorite.”
     “Yeah? What about dessert?”
“Whatever you’re in the mood for,” you replied, gently biting your lip.
She moves forward once again but you place a finger against her lip.
     “Food’s gonna get cold. C’mon.”
Before either of you could move, there was a knock on the door.
“You expecting anybody?” Tierna asked with a raised brow.
Shaking your head you pushed her towards the kitchen.
“You go ahead to the table; I’ll see who it is.”
With a little reluctance, Tierna followed your orders while you went to answer the door.
Taking a look through the peephole you groaned.
“You have got to be kidding me.”
It was obvious you weren’t as quiet as you thought you were as arms wrapped around your waist and she questioned what was wrong.
“Take a look for yourself,” you grumbled, moving out of the way.
“You have got to be shitting me,” Tierna groaned, dropping her head onto the door. “Maybe if we ignore them, they’ll leave.”
     “Not a chance Baby T!”
With great frustration, the defender yanked the door open. “What do you want?”
“We just wanted to see what’s been taking up all your attention,” Kelley says, standing up on her tiptoes to peek into the house. “I can safely say I wasn’t expecting this.”
“Look,” Tierna starts. “Can we do this later? I’m busy right now.”
“Maybe,” Emily says. “Only if you let us in and update us.”
“Okay,” you interrupted. “Our anniversary dinner is getting cold. You will see her tomorrow and you can ask your questions then. For now, I’d like to enjoy this limited time with my wife. Bye.” You ended your little rant with a sarcastic wave and slammed the door shut before locking it.
The two of you heard multiple exclamations of surprise and confusions, but you were only focused on one thing.
“Can we hurry with dinner?” Tierna asked, pulling you closer to her by your waist. Leaning towards your ear, she whispered, “‘Cause I’m really looking forward to dessert.”

Jealous - Tierna Davidson X Reader
Prompt: Hi! I really love your writing so much. I was wondering if maybe you could write a fic where the reader and Tierna are best friends and R visits T while she’s with the national team. Maybe T gets jealous when the rest of the team or another player gives R attention?
Tierna aggressively slammed her cleats back into her bag, determinedly not looking to the other side of the field where Y/N was talking to some of the staff.
“You alright T?” Alyssa asked the defender, watching her throw her balled up socks into her bag too.
“Peachy,” she grumbled, slamming her bag down and zipping it up.
Tierna took a glance towards her best friend, watching as she made the staff all laugh at something she said, one of the trainers squeezing Y/N’s bicep. The defender rolled her eyes, standing and storming towards the group, trying to release her anger and force a smile on her face.
“Hey Tier,” Y/N shifted her whole attention to Tierna when she approached, bringing a genuine smile to the defender’s face.
“Hey Y/N, ready for lunch?”
“You bet!” Y/N smiled, turning to the group of staff, “great meeting you guys, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Tierna gave her a strange look as they began to walk to Y/N’s car. Tierna had introduced Y/N to the team the night before, inviting her to supper, with her charismatic personality she hit it off with everyone. Players and staff stealing majority of Y/N’s attention the rest of the night, inviting her to watch the practice the next day.
“So, where we going for lunch?” Rose pushed between the two of them as they walked through the parking lot, she gripped Y/N’s hand, dramatically swinging their arms, Y/N chuckled at the midfielder.
“What do you feel like Tier?” Y/N looked over to her friend.
“Anything you want Y/N,” Tierna pulled away from Rose slightly.
“I could go for some Chipotle,” Sonnett jogged up, throwing an arm around Y/N’s shoulder.
“Uhh sure,” Y/N creased her eyebrows, “Tierna had suggested some local place, but Chipotle works too. I didn’t realize you were coming with us.”
“Of course we are,” Lindsey pushed Sonnett out of the way, causing her to begin to walk backwards, both blondes smiling.
“Shot gun!” Rose let go of Y/N’s hand, pushing Sonnett out of the way and running towards the cars.
“You don’t even know what car is hers,” Tierna mumbled, Y/N smiling, watching the rest of the soccer players gently shove each other in attempt to figure out what car is Y/N’s.
“We’ll keep it a secret and you can have shotgun,” Y/N grinned, nudging her shoulder against her friend. Both laughing as the three pointed to different vehicles, looking back hoping for confirmation, running to different ones when there was no reaction.
The friends managed to get to the car before the trio did, Tierna slipping into the passenger seat.
“I called shotgun!” Rose pouted as she was pushed into the middle, sandwiched in by Horan and Sonnett, each smiling proudly.
As much as Tierna wanted to be alone with her friend, she couldn’t argue that being with Y/N was infectious and didn’t blame a single person for wanting to spend as much time with the woman as they could.
Tierna rolled her eyes, jaw clenching when Sonnett slid into the chair Y/N tried to pull out for her. Y/N giggled and slid into the chair next to her, tugging Tierna’s sleeve forcing her to sit next to her before anyone else could. The defender groaned when the restaurant door opened, and more player filed into the room.
For the entire meal, the players all monopolizing Y/N’s attention. Tierna became more irritated as the meal went on, her time was limited with her best friend, but since she had been introduced to the team, she hadn’t gotten any time with her friend. She had only introduced Y/N so she could have more time with her while still in camp.
Players all asked Y/N questions, drawing her into conversation, Y/N smoothly entertaining everyone, asking equal questions in return, giving them the chance to talk about themselves too.
Y/N tried to talk to Tierna in between conversations with players, sensing her growing irritation, stretching her arm out to rest on the back of the defenders chair, squeezing her shoulder.
“So, Y/L/N, how does the boyfriend feel about you hanging out with this motley crew for a few days?” Pinoe asked from the far end of the table.
“Ahh no boyfriend, so probably good?” Y/N chuckled.
“Alright, how does the girlfriend feel about it?” Ashlyn asked from next to her.
“Nope, no girlfriend either,” she shrugged, casting a shy glance to the defender next to her, none of the players noticing, all focused on the new information.
“You’re single?” Kelley clarified with a smirk, nudging a few of the younger players around her.
“As pringle,” Y/N grinned, laughing at her own joke, “single as a pringle, get it? It rhymes,” she clarified when she saw all the confused faces, awkwardly giggling to herself. Her smile grew when she finally heard Tierna let out a genuine laugh all meal.
“They’re trying to figure out if you’re gay and worth hitting on,” Tierna leaned over and whispered into Y/N’s ear, her smile dropping slightly.
“Oh,” Y/N blushed, biting her lip she fidgeted with her fingers.
“So whatcha say? Worth hitting on?” Kristie smirked from across the table, Sonnett leaning forward with her. Pinoe and Ashlyn watching intently from the end, everyone else listening for the answer.
“Oh, uhh, I guess?” Y/N looked shyly around the table, “I don’t really know?” she looked briefly to Tierna again, blush deepening.
“How do you not know?” Kristie leaned froward, waggling her eyebrows
“I just, uhh, do? People don’t really hit on me,” she shrugged again, hoping the conversation would be over soon.
“Alright guys, I think that’s enough, she’s not going to come back if you keep this up,” Christen stepped in, seeing how uncomfortable Y/N and Tierna were.
Tierna mouthed thank-you to the midfielder, Y/N smiling gratefully with a nod.
“T is oblivious that Y/N is single because she’s in love with her,” Tobin leaned over to Christen, whispering in her ear.
“Nope!” Ali giggled from the other side of Christen.
“And Y/N doesn’t see that Tierna is jealous of everyone giving her attention?” Ashlyn added from the across the table.
“Nope,” Pinoe said loudly, gaining the attention of the team, she just smiled and wiggled her fingers in a wave.
Conversation gradually resumed, several of the players trying to encourage flirty banter with Y/N now. Y/N oblivious to the flirting, continued to talk with everyone at the table.
Lunch came to a close, the veterans ushering the players out, reminding them of practice that afternoon practice in a couple hours.
Tierna was quiet the ride back to the hotel, staring blankly out the window in the back seat, Sonnett having won the race for shotgun on the way out.
Y/N glanced in the rear-view mirror while she drove, hoping to figure out what was wrong with her best friend. She bit her lip when Tierna let out a sigh, she didn’t have any idea why she was so upset; Tierna had been so excited to invite Y/N to camp when it was in her city.
“Are you coming to practice later?” Rose asked from the middle seat as they pulled into the hotel, the other two blondes waiting hopefully for the response.
“Oh uhh, not sure,” Y/N turned fully in her set once she parked, watching Tierna for some kind of reaction, “I don’t think so,” she followed up with the defender didn’t react.
Tierna looked quickly to Y/N, her eyes sad while they stared at each other.
“Ahh come on!” Lindsey shook Y/N shoulders over the driver seat.
“I really don’t want to overstay my welcome,” Y/N broke the staring contest, tapping her fingers ion the steering wheel.
Tierna didn’t know what else to say, but quietly got out of the back seat. The other soccer players following behind.
“Y/N is awesome T! Why haven’t you brought her around more?” Sonnett squeezed Tierna’s bicep as they walked through the hotel lobby, “any chance you could I could get her number? Or do you think she would take mine?” the blonde seemed a little nervous.
“Uhh I don’t know Son, maybe, I’ll talk to her,” she shrugged noncommittally.
“You rock T!” the blonde defender skipped ahead, giving a small fist pump.
“Tierna!”
Tierna turned quickly to the hotel entrance, Y/N walking towards her. She tilted her head to the side, confused, “Y/N?”
“Is everything alright Tier? Are you okay?” Y/N reached out, gripping Tierna’s hand, running her thumb along the knuckles. Eyes soft while she watched her best friend.
“Yea, of course,” Tierna squeezed her hand back, trying to give her a reassuring smile.
“You were so quiet at lunch. Do you want me to leave? Did I overstep with the team? Or you?” Y/N looked so worried.
“No, definitely not,” she shook her head, “Sonnett even just asked me for your number,” she motioned vaguely behind her to where the blonde had walked, “so yea, theres that, yours if you want it.”
“Oh uh, I’m not worried about that. I’m worried about you,” Y/N squeezed her hand again, trying to make eye contact with Tierna.
“I’m fine, really,” Tierna tried to reassure, pulling out her phone.
“What are you doing?” Y/N asked, eyebrows creasing at the sudden change.
“Getting you Sonnetts number,” she wouldn’t look up, focused on her phone.
“Damit Tierna, I don’t want anyones number, I want you!” Y/N pulled the phone from Tierna’s hand.
Tierna brought her eyes up to watch Y/N, waiting to see what else she would.
“I don’t care if the whole team asks me out, I just want to be with you. I didn’t plan to spend the week with your team, I planned to spend it with you,” Y/N tapped a finger to the center of Tierna’s chest.
“What?”
“She likes you,” Ali smiled as she walked past.
Tierna looked between the defender and her friend, Y/N nodding along, smiling.
“Tierna was pouting because she was jealous,” Christen added as she walked in behind as well.
“I wasn’t pouting,” Tierna stuttered out, blushing.
“But you were jealous?” Y/N asked hopefully.
Terna bit her lip and nodded along.
“I like you Tier, I have for a while, I was just too much of a wuss to ask you out,” Y/N blushed, looking away.
Y/N began to pull her hand away when Tierna started laughing at her. Tierna tightened her grip, stopping the movement, “me too Y/N. It killed me watching everyone fawn over you the last two day.”
Tierna let out a relieved sigh when Y/N stopped pulling away, both instead starting pull each other into a hug.
“What do we do now?” Tierna hesitated to ask as they pulled away.
“I don’t know, I think we start by not talking about it in the middle of hotel lobby,” Y/N giggled, both of them looking around to see most of the team watching, “but uhh, after that, I don’t know. I think we go on a date? Not much really has to change I don’t think.”
“No, I don’t think so,” Tierna agreed, nodding along, “how about dinner on my day off in a couple days? You can still hang around with the team if you want, but I want to be able to do this right,” her confidence growing the more she spoke.
“I want to do it right too,” Y/N smiled back, “now go break the news to Sonnett. I’ll see you later.”
The pair hugged one last time, both smiling wife before pulling away, Y/N leaving the hotel.

(just a random tierna x reader i came up either lol hope you enjoy)
It was a pre-preseason get together with just a few of the Chicago Red Stars players. It was Alyssa, Tierna, Sarah, Vanessa, Nikki, and I and we were just messing around with the ball. We warmed up, and then stretched. We did a dreaded cardio circuit that left my legs shaking before we took a break. Tierna and I played keep-up with the ball while everyone else was taking their breaks.
We split off into shooting and defending, and then got some individual work in. Then, we had a little three on three competitive game. Tierna and I linked up well and our team ended up winning. We made the other three (Alyssa, Nikki, and Vanessa) promise to pay for our dinner some night this week. Everybody started doing their cool down, so I joined them even though I wanted to keep shooting. As everybody walked back to the benches to start packing up, I stayed out so I could keep shooting. “I’ll see you at the car Y/N” Tierna yelled, knowing that I would want to stay out and play a little bit more.We roomed together this year, both being rookies.
But what T didn’t know was that ever since I moved in with her, I developed a small (or maybe not so small) crush on her. But she will never know, because I am 100% certain that she doesn’t feel the same way.
I played around with the ball for a while, just messing around and seeing how I could control it. Then, I dribbled to the net, but there was a piece of turf stuck up and as I tripped it sent me flying. I groaned as I picked myself up off of the turf field. I gave my body a once-over glance and only found my shin hurting. It was covered in turf pebbles and as I wiped them off with my hand I winced as I saw a pretty large gash in my leg.
I limped off of the field and went to the locker room to try and find a medical kit. I remembered Tierna was waiting for me, so I tried to find her, getting lucky in the first room I looked.
“Hey T….” I mumbled awkwardly. She looked up and her eyes grew concerned when she saw my shin. “Y/N what happened?” she asked I told her in a mumbled embarrassed voice as she sat me down on one of the locker room seats. She looked around the room for a first aid kit, and motioned for me to wait as she went to the med room to get something to clean my cut.
When she came back, I was fidgeting with my nails as my knee bounced, sending more blood running down my leg. Tierna placed her hand on my knee to stop it from shaking and started opening up an alcohol wipe.
She wiped the antiseptic across my shin and I let out a harsh breath and winced. She grabbed my leg and said “hold still” in an exasperated but touchingly concerned tone of voice and she looked up at me. Our eyes accidentally met and we froze. I could feel the room get quiet, like the universe paused just for us.
And just like that, our moment was gone as we both looked away.
“We should uh get to the car” I said. “Yeah” she agreed. We were silent on the ride home a change from our normal “sing along to the radio” personality.
When we got home, we each showered and grabbed leftovers for dinner, not eating alone but not together either, both in the kitchen but keeping our distance. I kept stealing glances at her when I didn’t think she was looking. When I finished my dinner I sat on the couch putting on some random show. Tierna followed me, and sat down next to me.
I could feel her looking at me as I flipped through the channels and finally looked over at her. We made eye contact again, just like in the locker room. She brushed her thumb over my bottom lip, and then pulled me in to a sweet, fulfilling kiss. I grinned and pulled her back in for another. “I’ve been wanting to do that for five months” I giggled before bringing our foreheads together for another kiss.

Blind date (Tierna Davidson x Reader)
This is barely edited and I'm not sure if a museum like this even exists, but use your imagination. Hope you enjoy :)
Words: 2.5k
"Oi dumbass, get up," Tobin called from the bathroom before throwing a shoe at me when I didn't respond.
"Fuck off Tobin." I growled trying to go back to my nap.
"No, you have to get up."
"Why? There is literally nothing happening today."
"You have a date in a couple of hours that you need to plan."
I sat up, looking at her like she was crazy. A date was the last thing on my mind at the moment, the last thing I wanted to do, "What? With who?"
"You'll find out later."
Tobin didn't know who I had feelings for, but she knew they existed. Normally I would tell Tobin everything, but seeing as the person was her teammate, I decided against it for the time being,  "Tobin what the hell? You know I have feelings for someone, why the hell would you set me up?"
"Because you've been pining after this person for almost a year without any thought of asking her out. Either you ask her out or you go on this date."
"I don't want to do either. One will make things awkward and the other will make me lead a poor girl on."
She rolled her eyes, "Suck it up, it's one date. You'll live."
"How do I even know where to take her? I have no plan, I know nothing about her, not even her name. You could have given me more then a couple hours notice."
"She likes art, museums, photography, music and Italian food. That should help, you have to make a real effort on this. As for more warning, that would have given you more chance to make up an excuse to get out of it."
There was no getting out of this. Tobin was stubborn just like me, there was no way she was going to cancel and this mystery women was going to show up regardless. It wasn't the mystery girls fault, so with that little bit of information I started to make a plan, "Okay fine. Tell her to wear something nice, but casual."
There was only an hour and a half until my date arrived, she was coming here first so Tobin could introduce us. I quickly made a call to one of my friends who happened to work at a nice Italian restaurant, there was a very slim chance of getting a reservation this late. Thankfully, my friend managed to come through and got the last reservation at her place.
After showering I got dressed changed into black skinny jeans, a maroon long sleeve button up, my black leather jacket and Chelsea ankle boots. As much as I didn't want this date I was going to put some effort in, after all it wasn't her idea so why take it out on her. Once dressed I moved onto my hair. My hair was shoulder length, red dyed hair. I was never one to put effort into my hair so I just went with a simple braid. There was a knock on the door as I was half way through the braid. Tobin yelled for me, "Hold your horses, I'll be out in a minute." I quickly finished the braid before heading back into the room. To my utter surprise, Tierna was standing next to Tobin. She was wearing light blue skinny jeans, a relaxed white blouse and a casual black blazer.
Tierna was the girl I had developed feelings for. Being team photographer, I had spent a fair amount of time with her and the team which had led to many friendships formed. Though my feelings had developed fairly quickly which had stopped me from building much of a friendship with Tierna out of fear and awkwardness. I didn't know if Tobin knew about my feelings for Tierna, but it would be one hell of a coincidence if she didn't.
I cleared my throat realising I had been staring for too long, "Uh hey Tierna."
Tierna smiled shyly, "Hi Y/n."
After a minute of slightly awkward silence, Tierna and I left the hotel. The slightly awkward silence continued as we walked down the street. Despite knowing Tierna, I had no idea where to even start a conversation. I struggled when not on a date with her, but I was even more nervous than normal. I had no idea if Tierna even liked me or if Tobin had set her up as well.
"So um how did Tobin get you to agree to this?"
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Tiernas cheeks flush red. She always was adorable when she blushed. "She called me out for liking you which was terrifying because she's your older sister and I was worried about being murdered."
I laughed a bit at that. Tobin was only protective when she needed to be, she never cared about me dating, but as soon as I got hurt, you should be afraid. "Oh no, Tobin doesn't care until someone hurts me. Wait, you like me? How?"
"Uh yeah. You were just so genuine and funny when we first met, it just kind of happened. I thought I was hiding it pretty well by not interacting with you much when we were alone, but apparently she caught be staring and blushing a lot. How did you get roped into this?"
"Well Tobin told me about 2 hours ago about this date and I had no choice. I didn't think she knew about my feelings for you, I'm starting to question that though. Did she say anything about it?"
"She said you liked me. I didn't really believe her, but I figured I would take the chance and come up with something later if it backfired. I'm sorry you were put on the spot."
"It's okay, I'm not mad about it. Well not anymore anyway. Just kinda nervous that this will be a crap date given my time constraints. If I had known it was you, I would have tried harder to make it what you deserve."
Tiernas cheeks flushed once again as she looked anywhere, but at me, "Honestly, I've been wanting this for a while now so I'm sure whatever you planned will be perfect because it's with you. What are we doing anyway?"
My heart fluttered at her confession. I never would have imagined Tierna ever feeling the same way. I wanted it to be a surprise though, "You'll see."
We made small talk while we walked. I was still being slightly awkward, it was to be expected. I hadn't been on a date in over a year, even before that it didn't happen often. My focus was for a long time on getting my career where it is now. "So you own your own photography company right? You're just contracted to us?"
I started out as a low level photographer at some pet photography place, I worked incredibly hard and managed to book a few non pet related shoots. Things just grew from there, soon enough I was opening my own photography business, doing shoots from birthdays to weddings to pretty much anything people wanted. I had grown to have a few people working for me so when I got approached about working with the USWNT I decided to take the position because it meant getting more time with my sister. I was a little bit surprised when they did approach because normally they just hire someone. Tobin had confessed a few months later that she had showed them my work and hyped me up.
"That's amazing, your family must be proud."
"My parents took a while to come to terms with it, I wouldn't say they're proud though. Tobin is proud, but thinks I need to get out more, that there's more to life than a job."
"It's more than just a job for you though, isn't it? You created something from the ground up, the way you talked about it's clear you love what you do."
"For the longest time I had no idea what I wanted to do. I was always envious of Tobin for knowing exactly what she wanted. I studied business because that's what my parents wanted, but I hated it, guess it came in handy though."
Tierna stopped walking to look at me, curiosity covering her face, "Why photography? That's a big jump from business."
I started walking again, we had to get to the museum so we had time to have a proper look around before dinner. Also, spending too much time looking at Tierna made me even more nervous. This was probably the longest we had spent alone or spoken to each other. "I know right. There's not some big story behind it. One of my friends was an arts major and needed help with a photo one day. It was fun and I guess I was hooked. From there I just started doing it. To say the least, my parents didn't necessarily approve at first which in a way drove me to where I am now. Oh we're here."
The museum was a very large glass building, lit up on the outside by white lights. Tiernas expression instantly lit up with excitement as she kind of bounced up and down, "It's beautiful. I love museums. This is the one that just opened right?"
"Yup." I took her hand dragging her inside. What could I say? I was super excited. Once we were inside I became painfully aware that I was still holding her hand. She didn't make any move to pull it away though so I didn't either. Our hands remained joined as we walked around though as we walked we continued to get closer. At one point, Tierna ended up cuddled against my side as I rambled about something random. I don't think I've ever felt so flustered yet excited and comfortable at the same time. All I knew was I wanted that to happen more often.
This museum had a lot of different areas to it. It was pretty much all the different types in one. Science, space, history and art all in one. I'm pretty sure there was also a marine mammal section which for me is a close second to the space section. At heart I was a giant nerd, I loved it all especially space. The look on Tiernas face told me she loved it. It was a relief. This date didn't mean much it the beginning, it was just a forced thing. Now that I knew it was Tierna, I kind of wish I had done more.
"While I could stay here all night, we have to go." Tierna pouted, I knocked her shoulder gently with mine to get her to stop, "Nope, stop that. We have dinner reservations so if you don't want to eat we can stay."
"Hmm fine, I guess I am hungry."
We left the museum, hands still intertwined. Walking down the street I listened to Tierna talk about all her favourite parts of the museum. She was rambling again, I didn't mind though. I liked listening to her talk. Her voice was soft and soothing yet slightly raspy. Yup, I didn't mind at all. We came to a stop outside the restaurant. It was a small family run Italian place, that had amazing food.
"No way, I love this place. Didn't Tobin only tell you about our date like 2 hours before? How did you get a reservation? This place is usually booked out on a Friday."
"My friend works here, she managed to get us in."
The awkwardness had long disappeared and conversation became easier. During dinner I got to know Tierna better. Anyone who knew Tierna knew she was on the more quiet side, but she easily talked about her childhood, likes, dislikes, hobbies and pretty much anything else. Turns out I loved listening to her talk. I was also paying special attention to her likes, dislikes and hobbies for future dates or gifts. I had every intention of spoiling Tierna if we our relationship developed. Tierna deserved the world and I would do my best to give it to her if she let me.
Eventually our reservation time came to an end so we made our way outside. Tierna started shivering instantly so I slipped my jacket off and wrapped it around her shoulders, "Here."
"You're going to be cold," Tierna protested.
"I'm fine, I don't get cold that easily. You need it more than me."
"Thank you. I know you didn't really want this, but I've had an amazing time tonight Y/n/n."
Tierna stepped closer as I retook her hand, lacing our fingers together. She pulled me closer so we were almost touching. "I've wanted this since we met T. This just wasn't how I wanted it to happen, but I'm also glad it did because I don't think I would have told you anytime soon."
I made the last move, pulling her in and connecting our lips in a slow kiss. It was tentative at first, both slightly unsure and nervous. After a few seconds, Tiernas hand cupped the back of my neck, deepening the kiss. My confidence rose with that, my arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her against me. Normally, kissing someone like this on a public sidewalk was not something I would ever do, PDA made me incredibly uncomfortable, but I was finally kissing the girl I've wanted for almost a year. Let's just say it felt incredible. When air became a problem, we slowly pulled away, a smile spread across my face as a giggle slipped out. There wasn't anything else planned for tonight, though I really didn't want the night to end yet.
I racked my mind for anything that we could do when I remembered an ice cream shop that was open late, "Do you want to get ice cream and walk along the pier? I know a place that's still open."
Tierna cuddled against my side as we started walking again, "I would love to."
"Good because I don't want tonight to end yet."
Tobin smirked as I flopped down on my bed with a no doubt dopey smile. It was well after midnight so I was slightly hoping Tobin was asleep. I didn't want to deal with her smugness, not when there was still some resentment there.
"So how was the date?"
"How long have you known about my feelings?"
"A little while now. You're not really shy unless feelings are involved and normally you will talk to anyone, but you always got shy around T, you never really interacted much with her, always looking at her when she wasn't paying attention. Now how was the date?"
"It was really good. Thank you Toby."
"Anytime."
"No, literally never do this again. You have no idea how pissed I was at you, then how nervous I was that my plan wasn't good enough for Tierna. I know she liked it, but if I ever got the chance I wanted to make it really special. Like she deserves."
"I'm sorry, I just didn't think you would believe me if I told you she like you. It went well though? Did you make your move?"
I recounted our night as I got ready for bed, already knowing I would be too excited to sleep. Tierna and I were going out for brunch tomorrow. While I used to try my best to not be alone with her, now I couldn't wait to see her again. I couldn't wait to see how our relationship developed.

He Looked So Lonely - Tierna Davidson/Reader
this is definitely one of my shorter stories, but it was really fun to write. since this was shorter, i have another shorter one coming out today too
prompt: R adopts a pitbull puppy without telling Tierna. But she named it some space name or something for Tierna. So they have a new dog.
warnings: none
words: 477
Tumblr media
(Y/N) POV
I held the puppy in my arms as I shut the door behind me. I had all of the stuff from my shopping trip outside in my car still as I didn’t want to leave the puppy outside. I was hoping that I would be able to get everything in before Tierna realized, but Harley made that quite impossible as he barked as soon as the door shut behind me.
I groaned as Harley came out the corner and let out another bark. I sighed but sat the puppy down on the ground so that Harley could see that he wasn’t a threat. The two smelled at each other before the puppy butted his head against Harley’s leg. I let out a snort at that and started to turn around.
“Is that a pitbull?”
However, I did freeze at that.
“Look, I can explain,” I said as I turned around. Tierna shook her head at me. “No, listen. I promise I can explain.”
“(Y/N), no,” Tierna shook her head. “That is a pitbull.”
“There are no bad breeds. Just bad owners,” I pointed out. Tierna sighed as she pinched her nose. “Besides I already named him so I’m not taking him back to the shelter.”
“(Y/N), what about when we have to be gone? We’re both professional athletes,” Tierna pointed out. I looked down at the puppy but shook my head. “We’ll figure out something. It’s our off season anyways.”
“(Y/N), babe-”
“He looked so lonely,” I cut her off. Tierna shook her head at that. “They had him in a pen all by himself. They hadn’t even given him a name. And no one wanted to even show him attention today. They told me that if he wasn’t adopted soon that they would have to put him down. I couldn’t let them do that, Tierna. Look at him.”
“Babe, it’s great that you didn’t let them put him down, but-”
“I named him Sputnik,” I said. Tierna tilted her head at me when I said that. “I already named him so I cannot take him back. He is now my puppy.”
“You named him after a Soviet Union satellite?”
“Nooooo, I named him after the first satellite in space. I know I’m not into space like you are, but I’m not stupid.”
“Babe, Sputnik was part of the Soviet space program.”
“Oh. Maybe I am stupid.”
We both stood in silence for a few moments as Harley and Sputnik started to play with each other.
“I have stuff for him out in the car,” I said.
Tierna turned to look at me before giving the dogs another glance. She sighed but nodded. Tierna joined me over by the door.
“But you’re the one figuring out what we’re going to do with him when we have to be gone for games and camps.”
“Yes!”

Do you have anything with sub uswnt player and dom reader? (It doesnt have to be smut)
I have not posted (or really read) any smut for the USWNT so the ones I list below are clean. In these fics, I believe that the reader shows dom energy lol. (I’m basing these off of memory so I apologize if some don’t seem to fit)

Big Bad Bruin (Tierna Davidson) 2
Tumblr media
(Re-upload part two, wow i miss her)
For all of you begging for a part two to Big Bad Bruin, sorry for the wait. I suggest reading the first one before even attempting to read this.
Part One, Part Two, Part Three
Warnings: Tierna being adorable and the team being stupid.
Word Count: Honestly, I want it to be longer than part one so lets see -> 5300 ish…
—-
“So… should we go check on them?”
After the realization, the team had attempted to go back to team bonding and give Y/N and Tierna some space. They had turned on the movie and ignored the subject with the assumption that eventually the two girls would return to the room. But here they were, two hours later with no sign of the 20 year old or the older player who had ran after her.
“I think we’ve waited long enough, right?” Sonnett asked curiously as she moved to her feet to look at her teammates. The women in the room all shared looks as if they were deciding whether or not they should involve themselves in Sonnett’s shenanigans or steer away as not to catch Y/N’s wrath.
“Yeah, I think we have. Come on son, let’s go check on them!” Kelley said cheekily, jumping up and linking her arms through Sonnett’s as they made their way to the door.
“Wait.” A voice from in the room called, effectively stopping the two trouble makers in their tracks.
“You two aren’t going anywhere near them unsupervised, so I’m coming with.” Ali declared, sliding off the bed and over to the pair.
“Me too.” Ashlyn said, getting up and linking hands with her fiance.
“Me three!” Mal cheered, jumping to her feet.
“Don’t forget me, it’s my room.” Rose whined.
“Jesus, we might as well bring the whole team with us.” Kelley huffed.
And so they did. Basically.
“Okay, I’ve got the key!” Rose exclaimed, holding the key card she got from the front desk in her hand as she gasped for breath. Even for a pro soccer player, running down multiple flights of stairs and then back up wasn’t an ideal circumstance.
“Perfect!” Snatching the key from Rose’s hand, Kelley practically skipped to the door.
“Wait.” Ali said, once again stopping Kelley who groaned in annoyance.
“Do we knock?” She asked, looking between the door and an overeager O’Hara. Alyssa, who was standing with an ear pressed against the door, motioned Kelley over and took the keycard from her.
“No, just be quiet. I don’t hear them so they might not even be in here.” The goalie slipped the card and waited for the click before gently pushing the door open. At first glance, she thought the room was empty but the muffled squeal that Rose let out proved otherwise. Ashlyn, who was standing behind Rose with a large hand clamped over her mouth to prevent her from squealing louder, inclined her head towards the bed by the window. When the rest of the girls saw what she was motioning towards, the room was filled with a quiet chorus of awes.
Laying in the queen sized bed were the two girls they had come looking for, fast asleep in each others arms. Y/N was laying on her back and Tiernas taller self was practically on top of her with her head buried into the crook of her neck. Meanwhile the older player had her arms wrapped around Tiernas waist, holding her in place as if her life depended on it. The two girls were partially covered by a blanket so they couldn’t see the way Tierna had bent one of her legs and thrown over Y/N’s hips or the way that Y/N’s own legs had intertwined with Tierna’s other leg.
“What do we do?” Rose whispered, snapping the other girls out of their haze.
“Well first we do this!” Kelley giggled softly, pulling out her phone and snapping a few pictures of the cuddling girls that she would be sure to show them later.
“Cut it out.” Ashlyn scolded the defender, clearly going into mother mode at the sight of the two players. Ali sent her Ashlyn a knowing look and a soft smile. The two girls obviously reminded Ash of the way she and Ali were when they had first met at camp. From the glimmer in her fiance’s eyes, Ali also knew that she was about to protect these two and their budding relationship with everything she had in her.
“Rose, go get a bag for the night, you can stay with me for the night.” Ali said as Rose nodded her head and set to grabbing anything important she needed from the room.
“Lyssa, can you go get Y/N’s travel bag from her room? It should still be packed and sitting by the nightstand.” Naeher nodded and left the room quietly as ever as she went down to collect the bag she knew that her mini me would want in the morning. Ali, done delegating tasks to her teammates, kicked the rest of them out. Many of the girls whined but didn’t argue as they left the room, looking over the shoulders at the two deep sleepers.
“Look at how soft Baby T makes her, Al.” Ash whispered, looking at the younger girls with what could only be described as maternal love in her eyes.
“Reminds me of someone else I know.” Ali chuckled, making Ash roll her eyes.
“Whatever, let’s just finish up in here.”
And so the newly decided team moms of this ship set out to do all the things the girls hadn’t done before falling asleep. Ash plugged in both of their phones on the bedside table, making sure to set an alarm on Tiernas so they wouldn’t be late to morning workouts. Meanwhile, Ali brought in the bag that Alyssa had gotten and set it on the desk before making her way over to the edge of the bed. Gently as possible, she laid another blanket over the pair.
Tierna stirred slightly as the fabric touched her but she didn’t wake, simply snuggling in further to the older girl underneath her. Walking across the room, Ali held the door open and nodded towards Ash who turned off the bedside lamp before joining her at the door.
With one last look over their shoulders the two women left the room, leaving the two young players fast asleep in each others arms.
—-
When Tierna woke in the morning, she hadn’t expected to feel so cold. For some reason, the warmth that had kept her safely asleep all night was now missing and she desperately wanted it back. Forcing her eyes open despite the dawning light, she noticed that she was still completely covered by every blanket on the bed. So what had kept her so warm?
Her answer came in the form of the soft humming that filled her ears as the bathroom door of the hotel room clicked open. Much to Tiernas surprise it wasn’t Rose who came out of the bathroom, but Y/N. As she looked at the other girl standing there in her athletic leggings and tight top, she started to remember the night before. The warmth she had been seeking this morning had come from her touch.
“Shit, sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you up.” Y/N apologized, seeing Tierna now staring up at her. Tiernas face flushed at being caught but she played it off and just shrugged her shoulders.
“It’s fine. What are you doing up anyways? We have like over an hour before weights.” Sitting up in the bed, Tierna was now watching Y/N thoughtfully as she bit her lip and looked away from her gaze. Unlike Y/N who had been awake for a while, Tierna was newly woken up and the rasp in her voice was a dead give away. It was that give away that had very much flustered Y/N who decided now was the perfect time to tie her shoes.
“I like to go for a run in the mornings before team stuff.” Y/N answered as nonchalantly as possible while lacing up her shoes.
“Why in the mornings?” Tierna tilted her head to the side, not quite knowing why the forward who would likely be running across the field all day would wake up extra early to go exhaust herself more.
It was clear to Tierna that Y/N was contemplating something as she looked for the right words to respond with. Truthfully, it was a special memory to Y/N and she wasn’t sure how much of it she was willing to share. Even after playing with the team for over five years, most of them didn’t even know the truth behind her morning runs.
“They’re peaceful.” She finally answered, smiling softly at the memory of all her morning runs. “Training with the team is amazing but it can be a lot to handle sometimes. Going out in the mornings means I get to just wake up with the world and run in that blue light and silence, just existing without purpose or responsibilities for a little bit.” The thoughtful statement made Tierna soften and smile as she listened to the passion in her voice.
“That does sound nice.” Tierna admitted. While she wasn’t necessarily a morning person, she wasn’t against them like most of the team. The admission made Y/N’s eyes light up and a flare of energy pulse through her body.
“You should come with!” She exclaimed, smiling from ear to ear.
“What? Now?” Tierna asked, yawning slightly as she rubbed sleep out of her eyes.
“Yes, now. Come on, all you’ve got to do is put on practice clothes and put up your hair!” The little forward was bouncing on her toes at the idea of having a running partner again for her morning as she grabbed Tierna’s hand and practically pulled her out of bed.
“Alright alright, give me five. The sun is barely even up yet!” Tierna laughed as she was tripping over her feet while she looked for clothes.
She couldn’t keep from grinning though, knowing now that the giddy twenty-two year old in front of her thought that she was special enough to go on her seemingly sacred morning runs with her. Tierna was also grinning at Y/N’s excitement and the wide smile on her face, enjoying the side of her that was rarely shown around their teammates. It seemed that Moe’s words were right and that just like Naeher, Y/N had things and moments that turned her into a complete softy. What Tierna failed to realize though was that it wasn’t any one thing or a moment that had Y/N going soft, but her.
“Sun rises at seven in Portugal. I want to be out before then so hurry up!” Y/N said, still smiling ear to ear, as she slid the band onto her arm that would hold her phone for the run in case anyone needed to contact the pair while they were out.
Before they knew it, the two had set out of the hotel lobby and were making their way to the trail that Y/N had picked out earlier. Wordlessly, the two fell into a perfect rhythm beside each other as their shoes hit against the dirt path. They continued this way for a few miles, neither speaking, simply listening to the sounds of their breathing and feeling the soft breeze coming from a ways away off the ocean. Eventually, they reached the crest of the trail where they were greeted with a view of the coastal city and the North Atlantic stretching out beyond it.
“Wow.” Tierna whispered, finally daring to speak for the first time as she took in the sight in front of her.
“See,” Y/N smiled, nudging Tierna softly with her shoulder, “quiet.” Motioning outwards with her hand, both girls looked at the city that would normally be filled with the bustling of business and the movement of both citizens and tourists alike. But in the early morning hours, barely a person was about, at least none that could be seen from this distance.
“Blue light?” The two words were said so gently that they were nearly lost in the wind but Y/N’s keen ears heard them nonetheless. Turning her head away from the city, she set her gaze on another picturesque sight, watching the way that the grey eyed girl focused on the early morning light settling over the buildings in its stillness.
“Blue light.” She whispered in confirmation. Timidly, she leaned her head on Tierna’s shoulder, her breath nearly catching in her throat when Tierna learned into the contact. Between the comfort of the quiet and the feeling of each other’s touch, they felt themselves begin to lose track of time. Yet the girls stayed like that, letting themselves just exist without purpose or responsibilities for a little while, together.
—-
“Where are they?” Kelley asked, looking around the gym as the team walked in for morning weights.
When Jill had told them not to worry about the two when everyone had gotten on the bus this morning, the girls had all just assumed they had taken one of the vans and gotten to morning weights early. However, now that they were here, neither Y/N or Tierna were anywhere to be seen. Their speculations were interrupted though as Dawn walked in with two training bags in hand, one with a number six on it and the other with a number twelve.
“Dawn, what’s with the bags?” Ashlyn asked, motioning towards their teammates bags that the coach carried.
“Toronto brought them by my room this morning and asked if I could bring them for her.” At the mention of Y/N’s jersey number related nickname, the girls all shared confused looks as to what she was doing that she couldn’t bring her bag herself, or why Tierna was with her.
“What was she doing?” Mal asked and Dawn just shrugged as she walked towards the equipment, muttering how she didn’t care as long as she wasn’t late.
Meanwhile, Tierna and Y/N were jogging their way towards the gym at a leisurely pace. After getting lost in thought at the top of the trail, they found themselves heading straight to weights.
“So seriously, why in the mornings?” Tierna asked as she moved shoulder to shoulder with the other girl. Y/N looked thoughtful for a moment before letting out a deep breath.
“It’s kind of a ritual that started after my first camp. Abby was my roommate and she kind of realized how overwhelmed I was getting with everything so one morning she dragged me out to run with her while the sun was rising.” Smiling at the memory, Y/N pushed down the sadness she felt thinking of the woman who had been her first ever team mother.
“Abby? As in, THE Abby Wambach, just randomly decided to take you out running at dawn?” Tiernas mouth was hanging open in shock and if it wasn’t for Y/N’s airy laugh she would have been almost certain that she had misheard her.
“I was young, y’know? Everything at the international level was still so new to me and Abs could tell I needed help.” Y/N admitted, simply through her tone of voice it was clear how much this all meant to her.
“Trust me, I relate. You were even younger than me at your first cap though, yeah? You were like still seventeen and freshly out of high school.” Tierna asked and though Y/N nodded her head, Tierna could see a mischievous glint in her eyes.
“Keeping tabs on me, Davidson?” The pair both laughed and Tierna punched Y/N in the arm as they approached the front of the training complex.
True to character, the two opened the doors of the gym at exactly eight o'clock on the dot as the rest of the girls were quietly stretching out. This quiet made the sounds of laughter echo through the space and the team leaned their heads out of the back to find the source of the sound. What they were greeted with were their two previously missing teammates walking in attached at the hip, grinning widely and shoving each other lightly as they laughed at some unknown joke. Seeing their teammates curious looks made the pair both blush as they bit back their laughter, trying to summon some amount of seriousness as they entered the room.
“You two were almost late.” Dawn chided.
“Almost being the key word there.” Y/N smirked, throwing an arm around the fitness coaches shoulder as she walked across the room towards her bag to change shoes. Though she wouldn’t admit it, Dawn certainly found a favorite in the hardworking forward who she had watched grow over the years. As the pair walked away, Dawn pretending to try and shake off the players arm, half of the team ran up to Tierna.
“What did you do to her?” Alex asked in shock, having just heard Y/N let out an actual full laugh for the first time in what seemed like forever. Smiling, Tierna hardly let her eyes leave the girl as she attempted to ready herself for weight training.
“I have no idea.”
—–
And so the day continued and Y/N’s high spirits from the morning magically stayed intact as she trained. While her eyes held their same aggressive fire, her lips were quicker to lift into a smile or a smirk and she was faster than ever with her smart remarks and teasing. The team certainly took notice and didn’t miss a beat to mess with her every chance they got.
“Come on Smiley, get over here and spot me!” Pinoe laughed and Y/N rolled her eyes, flicking the blonde haired woman off as she came up behind her.
“Shut up or I might just let these weights crush you.” Y/N quipped, lightly kicking Pinoe in the back of the knee and making the older player buckle.
“Toronto, don’t you dare!” Dawn yelled from across the room, making the whole team laugh.
“Alright, get moving Raps. I’m in the mood to lift and I can’t do that if you’re going to be here all day.” The two girls laughed again and Kelley watched the encounter carefully before turning to Sonnett once they had started their reps.
“It’s go time.” Kelley whispered and the pair carefully slunk across the gym, careful to avoid Crystal and Julie who were mic’d up for the team channel as they lifted. When they made it across the gym, the two girls immediately dropped into matching planks in front of Tierna and Casey before an eagle eyed Dawn could yell at them.
“What on Earth do you two want?” Casey asked, lifting her head up and eyeing the two skeptically. Tierna, who was shaking slightly from holding her plank position, looked up in annoyance, still somewhat angry with Kelley.
“I already told you guys that I don’t know what’s up with Y/N. Don’t you have workouts to do?” Her voice came out shakily as she focused on her breathing but there was a hint of uncharacteristic annoyance lingering in her tone.
“We are working out, see, planks!” Kelley grinned.
“Besides, there is no way you don’t know what’s up with her! She was all stoic and mean yesterday when she was dogging me at defense but after she blew up and stormed off after you last night, she has been all smiley an-”
“Wait, what do you mean blew up?” Tierna interrupted, falling out of her plank and pushing herself up onto her knees.
“Last night after you left she kind of yelled at all of us, well mostly Kelley, but we all got that really angry glare she gives us when she gets mad on the field and it was like she was about to kill all of us an- wait, why are you smiling?” Sonnett rambled, cutting herself off when she saw the absolute shiteating grin covering the face of the other girl as she thought about Y/N getting defensive over her.
“She yelled at you guys for me?” Tirena mumbled, if her face wasn’t already flushed from working out it was certainly red now. Casey, realizing what was up, nudged her friend playfully.
“Yes, she did. Snatched the room key right out of Rose’s hand to come see you.” Casey smiled, now realizing what was up, as she nudged her friend playfully.
“Oh my gosh, stop it, she did not.” Tierna groaned, scrunching her nose up in embarrassment.
“Yes she di-”
“Girls!” Dawn shouted, focusing a stare on the four girls who had all fallen out of their planks and were now sitting around doing nothing.
“We’ll talk more about this later.” Kelley whispered, shooting the younger player a wink before grabbing Sonny’s arm and pulling them off the workout in another area together.
Tierna groaned and Casey giggled at her blush. Shaking her head, Tierna wondered what the hell she had gotten herself into.
—-
“Have I ever told you guys how much I hate that drill?” Abby Dahlkemper huffed, laying in the grass facedown. Tierna huffed in agreement and flopped down beside her, certain that her legs would turn to jello if she stayed standing any longer.
“Oh you wimps.” Y/N giggled, the older player gently kicked the ball at her feet and sent it rolling over to pop Tierna on the top of her head.
“Hey!” Tierna suddenly forgot the numbness of her legs as she jumped up to chase Y/N who squealed and raced towards the field where the rest of the teams forwards were still running drills.
“Preath!” Y/N shouted, zipping across the field at record speeds and hiding behind the two women who had paused their movements to watch the interaction. Tierna skidded to a halt in front of a very amused looking Christen and a stone faced Tobin who stood shoulder to shoulder, blocking her from getting to the other girl.
“Chris, Tobin, please.” She begged, not breaking eye contact with the player who was hiding behind them. Much to Tierna’s dismay, the two vets wouldn’t budge to let her through.
“Sorry kiddo, looks like you’ve got to chase Toronto on your own time!” Carli laughed, putting her hands on Tiernas shoulders and directing her away from the protective players.
“Yeah! Practice is over and it’s forwards only time!” Mal chimed in, sticking her tongue out at Tierna playfully. Huffing in defeat, she shuffled herself off the field without getting what she had wanted.
“Thanks for saving me.” Y/N sighed, throwing her arms around Tobin and Christen’s shoulders.
“Never thought we’d see a day that we were the ones having to save you.” Tobin chuckled, playfully reaching back to ruffle Y/N’s hair.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” The young forward huffed, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion as she unwrapped from Preath and attempted to fix her hair.
“Oh nothing, just that you’ve always been the one rushing to save us and now you’re coming to us to save you.” Christen smiled as Y/N scrunched her nose, clearly deep in thought about the situation.
“Mhm, looks like Baby Stanford might be breaking down our Big Bad Bruin.” The comment from Pinoe was definitely meant as a tease but Y/N couldn’t help but wince away when she heard it. Her smile that had eaten up her face all day was gone now and replaced with her signature resting bitch look. The teams forwards all shared wide eyed looks at the sudden change, watching as she quickly snagged the ball from Pinoes feet and moved down the field.
“Or maybe not?”
—–
When Tierna woke up the next morning for workouts, she was upset not to be greeted by an enthusiastic forward begging her to join her on her morning run. Shrugging it off, she got ready and made her way down to the bus with the rest of the team who looked somewhat surprised to see her. When they made it to the field, Y/N already had Alyssa working double time as she took shots on goal.
“Damn.” Jane whispered, as France and Ash nodded. The goalies knew full and well that an angry Y/N meant today’s practice was going to be intense if she kept shooting that hard.
“What’s got into her?” Ali asked, turning to look towards Tierna who just shook her head and shrugged. She hadn’t even seen Y/N since practice yesterday. Ali squinted her eyes in suspicion and looked around the team, not failing to notice a group of fairly suspicious forwards focusing on the ground. Making a mental note to investigate what was going on later, Ali followed the rest of her teammates to the benches to put on the rest of her gear.
“Y/N, take a breath.” Alyssa sighed, narrowly avoiding yet another powerful kick from the forward as the ball sank into the back of the net.
“I don’t need a breath. I’m fine.” Y/N snarled, lining up for another shot. Holding up her hands in defeat, Alyssa walked out of the goal and placed a gloved hand on the younger players shoulder.
“No, you’re not. I don’t know what’s wrong or what happened between yesterday and today but we will be talking about it later. Now go join the girls for warmups.” With a reassuring squeeze of her shoulder, Alyssa gently nudged Y/N towards the girls who were starting their prepratice routines. Begrudgingly, she made her way over and started to warm up with the rest of the girls while not missing the opportunity to send a pointed glare towards Pinoe.
Practice continued with the same level of tension radiating off Y/N. Much to her credit though, she didn’t let it affect her game as she moved in sync with Carli and Mal. As the goalies had predicted earlier, her anger made her an even tougher opponent as her shots ripped past their fingertips and Jane couldn’t get a hold of a single ball.
Tierna watched from the sidelines with wide eyes, somehow even more obsessed with this new playing style and the raised aggression levels she was seeing. However, part of her longed for the smiley girl she had seen yesterday. It seemed like any trace of the soft girl who had held her hand and taken her to watch the sunrise was gone when they locked eyes and Y/N immediately grimaced and looked away. Tierna tried to not take it personally as she was clearly upset and acting aggressive towards every girl on the team but she couldn’t ignore the way it hurt.
—-
For the next few days, practice progressed like this. Tierna was confused about what she had done to hurt the other girl or why she had pushed her away. At meal times, Y/N would sit at the other side of the table. During lifting and drills, she was always with Alyssa or anyone other than Tierna.
“Finally experiencing the Big Bad Bruin side, huh?” Pinoe asked and Tierna nodded sadly.
“I just don’t know what I did. She was fine and then we hung out and went to practice and then now she’s like this.” Tierna sighed, fiddling with the ring on her finger as Pinoe looked at her regretfully.
“It wasn’t your fault, Baby T. She gets like this sometimes.”
“Yeah, especially when people tell her shit she doesn’t want to hear.” Alyssa huffed, sitting down beside the two for lunch.
“What do you mean by that?” Ali asked, joining the girls and the conversation once she realized the topic at hand.
“Nothing, just pretty sure I overheard something on the field the other day that could’ve set all of this off.” The glare that Alyssa shot Pinoe showed Tierna exactly where Y/N had learned it from. Ali’s eyes bounced between the pair as though watching a tennis game, slowly connecting the dots as to what had happened.
“Megan Anna Rapinoe, I swear to everything good in this world.” Ali was the one glaring now and Tierna simply sat in confusion, not understanding the growing tension between the veteran players.
“It wasn’t anything bad…” Pinoe said under her breath, stabbing at the salad in front of her.
“Clearly it was for her to have gone all triple B again!” Ali snapped.
“I’m lost.” Tierna speaking up seemed to grab the attention of the vets as they realized the little defender was still listening to their conversation.
“It’s nothing you need to worry about Baby T.” Reaching across the table, Ali placed her hand on Tiernas and rubbed the back of it with her thumb reassuringly. Comforted but confused, she relaxed slightly. Thankfully Ash had noticed the tensity of the situation while passing by and scooped in to rescue the kid.
“Baby T! I need a hand to get coffee for the girls, pleaseeeee.” Grateful to get away from the weird conversation, Tierna jumped right out of her chair and to the goalies side. Smiling triumphantly, Ash threw an arm over her shoulder before looking back and giving her fiance an understanding look.
“Megan, what the fuck did you say.” Ali snapped, finally losing the bit of restraint she had held onto in the presence of Baby T.
“She was just all smiley and so some of the forwards and I kind of mentioned that she was getting soft…” Trailing off, Pinoe looked away guilty under the glares of Y/N’s protectors.
“Bullshit.” Alyssa muttered, knowing full well there was more to the conversation than that. A raised brow from Ali at the comment made Pinoe curse under her breath before finding the words to admit the little encounter.
“Basically Tierna was chasing Y/N around the pitch and Y/N ran to hide behind Preath who eventually saved her ass but then Tierna left and Christen and Tobin were teasing Y/N about them having to save her and I may or may not have said something about how it seemed like Baby T was finally breaking down Y/N’s walls.” Finishing her rambling, Pinoe took in a deep breath and looked at the two other girls who looked about ready to strangle her.
“You said fucking WHAT?!” Ali yelled, drawing the attention of some of the other girls who had entered the room or were eating nearby.
“Al, it’s not that serious.” Deciding now was the perfect time to join the conversation, Mal popped down in the seat that Tierna had left open. Much to her mistake, this seat happened to be right across from a very angry mama bear and an even angrier uncle.
“Not that serious?!” Alyssa yelled, standing and slamming her hands on the table. Mal and Megan both jumped back in surprise while Ali hardly even flinched, too fixed in her anger to be bothered.
“Mallory Diane, you were her teammate longer than any of us. You know full and well how sensitive she can be and above all else that she HATES people talking about her personal life.” Sinking under the weight of the two womens anger, Mal sent a desperate look to Pinoe who looked just as crushed.
“I know, I’m sorry.” Mal whispered. The sentiment was muttered by Pinoe as well and even by Preath who had overheard the conversation from their seats.
“We aren’t the ones you need to apologize to. I don’t know what needs to be done but this has to be fixed like now. Baby T is clearly upset by the distance that Y/N is keeping her at, a distance that you all are to blame for might I add, and it’s hurting her on the field. She is young and doesn’t need this drama, especially with such an important day coming up for her tomorrow. On top of that, you all have sent Y/N from being the happiest we’ve ever seen her back to being as guarded as she was when she first got here.”
Once Ali finished her speech, the forwards went scuttering away to figure out what they could do to fix the mess that they had apparently created.

Break in- Tierna
Tumblr media
I had just made it to my hallway to my apartment after dinner with a few teammates.
As I made it to my door and put my key into the lock to unlock my door, I realized it was unlocked. I could have sworn I locked it before I left.
I continued my walk into the my apartment but a movement caused my blood to run cold and before I knew it I shoved to the ground. My back hitting the ground hard and who every it was took off running down the hall.
I could hear the blood rushing in my ears as I sat up in shock. Jumping when I felt someone's hand on my shoulder.
"(Y/n) are you okay, what happen?" She asked, the noise probably causing her to look.
"I think I was robbed. I came home at the wrong time" I mumbled in a daze as I stared at my apartment and it was easy to see my apartment was trashed.
Everything else seemed to happen fast. My neighbors call the police once we were safely back in her apartment, I texted my girlfriend, the police arrived and I told them what I could as they looked at my apartment.
That's when Tierna arrived, looking stressed and panicked until she saw me. Both of us visibly relaxing once we saw each other.
She quick rushed over and pulled me into a tight hug before releasing me and scanning over my body, looking for injuries
"I'm not hurt" I replied hoping she would believe me, knowing my back was already stiff from hitting the ground.
I could tell she didn't believe me but wasn't going to push it at the moment.
"Let me grab some of your things, then we will go back to my place" Tierna said as I gave a nod she gave me a worried look before she quickly went to gather my things.
She was back quickly, placing an arm my waist as she placed a kiss to my temple as she lead me to her apartment.
The ride to the apartment was quiet as she held my hand. Then guiding me into her apartment.
I was still in a daze as she gently laid me in her bed, joining me as she pulled me her. Rubbing circles on my back.
That was when everything hit me and I started crying. Tierna held me and whispered soothing words until I feel asleep. ———————————- 2 weeks had pass since the break in and we were now at camp. I had been jumpy then normal the pass few weeks and I could tell Julie and Alyssa were concern but not pushing it. Tierra has been there for me the whole time and with her around I felt more safe.
We were currently all in Megan and Ash room hanging out and catching up.
I felt my phone start to vibrate. I saw it was my landlord and excused myself before heading to the hallway.
I was getting frustrated with my landlord. He wasn't letting me out of my lease, even if I was willing to pay a fee. We had been arguing and not making anywhere.
"I want out of the lease. Your security system fail and someone broke into my apartment" I said irritated with my landlord. We had been arguing over this for two weeks now.
"Your apartment got broken into and you didn't say anything!" Julie exclaimed causing my eyes to widen as I turned around and found her standing in the hallway with me.
I had intentionally not told anyone besides Tierna for a reason. The veterans were very protective of the younger ones, especially my Chicago teammates Julie and Alyssa.
I quickly hung up on my landlord, I can deal with him later.
"Hey, Julie. Didn't see you there" I said awkwardly rubbing the back of my neck
"Is it true?" Julie said looking at me
"Is what true?" Kelley asked as she peaked out the hotel door
"Nothing Kelley" I said looking at her a I looked back a Julie who looked like she was connecting the dots based on my reaction.
I watched hurt cross her face before she stormed into the hotel room past Kelley as I followed.
I watched as she went directly to Tierna who looked panic and confused as she looked between us.
"Alyssa, we need to have a chat with Tierna and (y/n)" Julie said as she looked more calm but still upset as Alyssa looked confused but nodded standing up.
"Julie" I said almost pleading her to stop
"What's going on?" Carli said looking between all of us since the whole team was waiting to figure out what was happening.
I looked at Tierna and gave her a defeated look, knowing there was no way to hide it now that everyone knows something is up.
"Julie overheard my argument with my landlord  about trying to get out of my lease for my apartment because someone broke into it" I said taking my seat next to Tierna as she instantly wrap arm around my waist and pulling me closer to her, knowing that I didn't like talking about it
"Why didn't you tell us?" Alyssa asked with an hurt expression that matched Julie while everyone wore worried.
"I didn't want to worry anyone" I said looking away from them
"We are always going to worry about you" Julie said
"That what we do. We all worry about each other, but especially about you younger ones" Ali said as I gave a small smile.
"Please tell me, you haven't been staying there alone" Becky said with concern
"No, I haven't step foot in that apartment since I caught the person. I've been saying with Tierna" I said said but instantly regretting what I said.
"You were home!"julie nearly yelled, instantly looking me over
"Yes, but she is okay" Tierna said hoping to calm the older women down as she tighten her grip slightly on me.
"Only got knocked down" I said moving out of Tierna arms and next to Julie who instantly pulled me into a hug to which Alyssa joined
"You should have told us" Julie whispered to me as she pulled me closer
"I know, next time I won't hide it. I'll be honest from the start"
"I hope there isn't a next time" Alyssa said pulling away
That when I felt my phone vibrate again
"Shit, I hung up on him" I said as I pulled out my phones and read the message, a smiling appearing on my face.
"Who is it?" Emily asked
"My landlord"
"Well what did he say?" Tierna asked with curio express, knowing about my ongoing fight with him and they I usually look annoyed when reading a message from him.
A huge small made its way to my face as I looked at her "looks like you are getting a permanent new roommate"and I watched as smile made its way on to her face as she pulled me into a hug then kiss that was interrupted by coughing by Julie as everyone else laughed.
"Love you" I whispered, pulling away from her as she whispered it back with a huge smile.
"Look at the babies of the team adulting" Emily said with a smirk as the rest of us rolled our eyes, while Tierna pulls me to her and rested her chin on my shoulder as she held me close to her

Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes [Tierna Davidson x Reader]
Tumblr media
requested by anon: Idk if you’re taking requests or not but could you do a tierna x reader where reader’s kinda reserved and the team doesn’t know her super well but her and baby t just bond together and one gets the courage to ask the other out. And maybe they like hide their relationship just to mess with the team or something cause they were trying to set them up. If not then it’s perfectly fine. You’re a great writer!!
A/N: thanks anon! i honestly don’t know how this got so long... oops
You hesitantly make your way down the aisle of the bus, unsure where to seat, given that this was only your fourth camp and you didn’t necessarily have a designated seat.
Spotting an empty spot next to Tierna, you sheepishly ask, “Hey, is anyone sitting here?”
“Nope,” she gives you a kind smile, glancing up from her phone. “Go ahead.”
“Thanks,” you mumble, a small smile of your own tugging at your lips.
As you’re putting in your ear buds and turning on your music, Tierna curiously watches you. “So how you liking the team so far?”
“I love it. It’s honestly better than I could’ve imagined. Everyone here is so nice and welcoming and so willing to teach,” you ramble slightly nervously, scratching the back of your neck.
Ever since you’d gotten your first call up last year, your nerves hadn’t calmed down at all. You were a naturally reserved and quiet person, but being around the best players in the world only intensified your nervousness.
Given your shyness, none of your teammates knew that much about you. The only one who knew anything about, apart from your position, your hometown, and where you currently reside, was Alyssa. The veteran goalkeeper had taken you under her wing when you went pro at just nineteen and joined the Red Stars. The two of you immediately bonded, forming a sort of big sister-little sister relationship, as you were both so similar in the way you carried yourself on and off the field. So when you got your first national team call up, Alyssa was the one to show you the ropes and help you make the transition.
And although you played on the same NWSL team as Tierna, you’d never actually had a real conversation with the other woman, so neither of you knew each other at all.
“Yeah, it’s an incredible environment,” the defender agrees. “It really does become like one giant family.”
“Hopefully, I’ll stick around long enough to become a part of that.” You anxiously chew your lip. Being on the national team has been a dream of yours ever since you could remember, and now that you are presented with the opportunity, you were scared you were gonna do something to mess it up.
“I have a feeling you will,” Tierna muses, smirking. You can’t tell if she’s flirting with you or if she’s just being nice, but either way your face flushed red.
The three hour bus ride went by seemingly quick, as you and Tierna engaged in an easy flowing conversation, talking about topics ranging from the basic introductions to the incredible cinematography of The Queen’s Gambit.
You find yourself becoming increasingly comfortable and relaxed around the other woman, and you feel this is the start of a wonderful friendship.
—————
After a quick team meeting upon arriving to the hotel, Vlatko starts to announce roommates and distribute room keys.
“Tierna and (Y/N),” he calls out, giving Tierna two key cards.
“Looks like we’re roomies,” she beams, as she hands your key.
“Looks like it.” You grin, excited at the idea of spending more time with the defender.
Both of you were pretty tired, especially after a long day of traveling, so you each quickly jump in the shower and change into your pajamas.
As you slide into bed, Tierna, already under the covers, grabs the TV remote. “Anything you wanna watch?”
“I’m fine with anything.” You shrug, as you pull the blankets over your body. “Have you seen the docuseries on Netflix about the Challenger?” You ask, remembering her passion for space and aeronautics.
“I haven’t,” Tierna gasps. “Can we watch it?”
Your heart warms at the sight of her pure eagerness. “Of course! I’ve been meaning to watch it for a while too.”
You quickly set up your laptop, connecting it so that your screen projects onto the TV.
As the episode progresses, Tierna spits out additional facts about the Challenger as well as NASA itself, and you can’t help but listen in awe and admiration.
The two of you barely make it through two episodes, as the hours of travel catch up to you and sleep takes over.
—————
It was the last day of camp, and you and Tierna had grown quite close, bonding over being the youngest on the teams as well as your similar interests.
You’d discovered that, when not playing soccer of course, you both enjoyed going on hikes, reading with a cup of coffee, and also relaxing at the end of the day with a good TV series.
She’d also given you some insight on how she adjusted to being on the national team at such a young age, something you were having trouble doing. It’s not that your skill level wasn’t up to par; you were just finding it difficult to put yourself out there and connect with the rest of the women. And just maybe your newfound friendship with Tierna would be just what you needed to open up to the rest of the team.
Over the past couple of days, as you’d gotten to know the defender, you couldn’t develop feelings for the other woman.
So here you were, packing up your hotel room, as you worked up the courage to ask Tierna out. At the moment, the freckled woman was currently rambling about some new book she’d found, but you were to stuck in your own head to really pay attention.
“(Y/N)?” Tierna pulls you out of your thoughts.
“Huh?” You shake your head, turning to see an amused smile on Tierna’s face.
“Did you hear anything I was just saying?”
“Umm, yes?” You try sheepishly.
Tierna rolls her eyes. “Yeah, right. It’s alright. You can make it up to me by reading the book I was talking about. And by the way it’s about a depressed neuroscientist at Stanford.”
“Sounds peachy,” you groan, earning a chuckle from the defender.
“What’s going on in that head of yours?”
“Nothing,” you mumble, shrugging.
“Come on, what’s bothering you?” She asks, as she sits down next to you, lightly elbowing your side.
You take a deep breath, gathering all the courage in the world, before asking, “Would you maybe wanna go out sometime? Like grab some coffee or dinner when we’re back in Chicago?”
Tierna stills, her eyes widening, as her brain tries to process your question. “What?”
“I’m asking you on a date, T,” you clarify, feeling a new wave of confidence take over. “Do you wanna go out with me?”
A gigantic grin breaks out Tierna’s face. “Yeah, I’d like that.”
—————
About six months later, you’d received another national team call up, and so had your girlfriend.
After last camp, you and Tierna went out to dinner at a restaurant back in Chicago, and from then on, you began dating. It helped that you both played for the Red Stars, getting to spend more time together and not having to worry about the trouble of a long distance relationship.
However, the two of you decided to keep your relationship under wraps, not feeling the need to announce or flaunt it. In fact, in public, your relationship didn’t really change, and to most people, it looked as if the two of you were just best friends.
But Alyssa had known you well enough to see that you definitely had a crush on the younger defender, and to be fair, you did, but the goalie didn’t know that you were already dating.
The Red Stars training before the national team players left for camp, Alyssa decided to see if anyone else shared the same suspicions.
“Hey, J!” she calls out, catching up to the blonde midfielder.
“What’s up, Lys?”
“Do you think there’s something between (Y/N/N) and Tierna?”
“What do you mean?” Julie furrows her brows, confused.
Alyssa gives her friend a pointed glare, nodding her head in the direction of where you were leaning your head on Tierna’s shoulder, giggling at something your girlfriend had said.
“Ah, I see,” Julie muses, nodding her head in realization. “Are they together?”
“Nope, at least I don’t think so. I’m sure (Y/N) would’ve mentioned something.”
“Well, should we help them get their head’s out of the butts and try and set them up?” The midfielder proposes.
“Camp is this weekend…” Alyssa smirks, as the two women share a knowing look.
“Kelley’s gonna have a field day with this,” Julie chuckles.
—————
After morning training the next day, the team split off into groups, as they head into town to grab a bite to eat, do some shopping, or just walk around the streets of Santa Barbara.
A group of the veterans decided to try out a cute little cafe they’d seen. As they were all sitting around the table, sipping their coffee and eating some pastries, Julie decided to bring up the subject of their two favorite team babies.
“So, have you guys noticed anything going on between (Y/N) and Tierna?”
Conversation stopped, the entire table going silent.
“Wha?” Kelley asks, her voice muffled by the food in her mouth. “(Y/N/N) and Baby T?”
“Kel, please swallow your food,” Christen requests, cringing at the defender.
“Sorry.” The freckled woman gulps down her bite of her croissant. “But Tierna and (Y/N)?”
“You don’t see it?” Alyssa raises her eyebrow, surprised that she might be the only one who saw the chemistry between you two.
“Aren’t they just best friends?” Tobin chimes in on the conversation.
“That’s what people always said about you and Chris until they got their heads out of their asses,” Ash snorts, pointing between the two forwards.
“Fair point.”
“Now that I think about it,” Christen hums. “They do act very couple-y.”
“And Tierna is really the only one that (Y/N) hangs out with, besides Alyssa,” Pinoe points out, as the others nod in agreement.
“True, though she is warming up to the rest of us,” Julie lightly argues.
“So do we have a plan?”
The rest of the table just stares blankly at Kelley, who rolls her eyes.
“A plan to get them together?” She clarifies, as if to say ‘duh.’
“Well, that’s what I thought we could discuss.” The blonde midfielder suggests, sparking the discussion of how to get the two youngsters together.
Meanwhile, as the veterans were scheming, you and your girlfriend were taking a walk along the beach, your hands laced together, as your bare feet sunk into the sand.
“I hear you might start in the match versus England,” Tierna smirks at the shy blush that creeps up your neck.
You duck your head and brush a loose strand of hair of your face. “I don’t know. Our midfield is already so stacked, so I don’t know why Vlatko would start me.”
“Hey.” Tierna stops walking, stepping in front of you, halting your movement as well. “Don’t sell yourself short. You’re a phenomenal player, one of our best middies, at only twenty-one years old I might add.”
“You have to say that.” You bashfully roll your eyes. “You’re my girlfriend.”
“That I am,” Tierna proudly states, as she kisses your cheek. “But seriously, (Y/N/N), you’re amazing and you’re here for a reason. Don’t ever doubt that.”
“Thank you, babe.” You lean in to give her a chaste kiss before bringing her in for a hug.
The two of you decide to walk back up to the sidewalk and sit on one of the benches that overlook the beach. After a couple of minutes of peaceful silence, you remember something Alyssa had mentioned to you a couple days ago.
“I think Lys might know we’re dating.” You raise your head from your girlfriend’s chest to look up at her.
“Hm,” Tierna hums, not looking concerned or fazed, only curious. “Did she something to you?”
“The other day she asked me if I had feelings for you.” You snuggle back into your girlfriend’s body, comforted by the fact that she didn’t seem to be freaking out about the possibility of one of your teammates knowing. “Well actually, her exact words were: ‘Do you have a crush on Tierna?’”
“And what did you say?”
“I said ‘yes,’” you mumble, your cheeks tint pink.
“What was that?” Tierna teases.
“I told her ‘yes’ I have a crush on you.”
“Aw, babe,” she coos, tapping your nose. “I have a crush on you too.”
All you can do is scrunch your face and stick out your tongue at your girlfriend and her antics.
“Do you think we should tell the team we’re dating?”
“Words probably gotten around that you have feelings for me, and seeing how we’re ‘best friends,’ knowing them, they’re already probably devising a plan to get us together.” Tierna shrugs, lightly chuckling.
Though you hadn’t been on the team as long as the defender, you knew she was most likely right.
“Well, who are we to stop their fun?” You say with a small smirk on your face.
Your girlfriend raises her eyebrow at you, surprised by your uncharacteristic boldness and mischievousness.
“Whatever you say, babe.” Tierna softly kisses the top of your head.
The two of you spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying each other’s presence, the calm waves crashing in the background, before you have to return to the hotel for team dinner.
—————
As you and your girlfriend were off on a brief romantic walk, the rest of the team, who had been recruited by the Kelley, had been finalizing their plan to set you and Tierna up on a date, so you can confess your feelings.
“So,” Kelley, the leader of this operation, announces. “Tomorrow, when we have dinner off, Alyssa, you’ll ask (Y/N) if she wants to grab a bite to eat, and Casey and Abby, and whichever youngsters wanna tag along, will bring Tierna out to dinner.
“The rest of us will grab a table in the backroom so we can see them without being seen. Everybody got it?”
They all nod along, voicing their agreement.
“Awesome,” Ash cheers and claps her hand together. “What do you think Lys?”
“I think it’s good, hopefully it works.” Alyssa nods, quickly glancing at her phone. “I also think we better head back for dinner before Vlatko sends out a search party.”
The rest of the women check the time, their eyes widening, as they all scramble out of their seats, rushing to make it back in time for team dinner.
—————
The next day, at the end of training, many of your teammates, mainly Kelley and Sonnett, were anxious about their upcoming blind date they’d set up for you and Tierna.
“Gosh, I don’t know how I didn’t see it before,” Kelley groans dramatically, watching from across the field, as you and your girlfriend were leaning on each other, laughing at something you’d said.
“How can they be so oblivious?” Tobin shakes her head, following her friend’s gaze.
“That’s rich coming from you,” Megan snorts, as she approaches the two women.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Chris had heart eyes for you for like three years before you actually noticed.”
“That’s different,” Tobin protests, earning a laugh from her two teammates.
“It’s really not.” Kelley clasps the forward’s shoulder, giving her a sympathetic smile.
“But we’ve learned.” Pinoe boasts with a pointed look.
Tobin just tilts her head and furrows her head in confusion, not following along.
“Oh, Toby.” The freckled defender slings her arm around Tobin’s shoulder, as they make their way back to the bus. “After being tortured by you and Press’s oblivious pining for many many years, the team collectively decided that when two teammates develop obvious feelings for each other, we’d put our own dignities aside and get them together.”
“Hence, our dinner plans for Tierna and (Y/N),” Megan finishes.
“You guys are all crazy,” Tobin says with a light-hearted roll of her eyes.
“Yeah, but you love us,” Kelley chirps before skipping off to catch up with Alex on the bus, leaving the two forwards chuckling at their teammates playful behavior.
—————
After hopping out of the shower and getting dressed, you decide to text Tierna to see if she wants to grab some dinner.
(Y/N/N):
Hey, you wanna grab some dinner?
I think I saw a taqueria that looked good :)
T 🤍 :
Sorry, babe :/
Casey already asked me to get dinner with  Abby  and Sam.
(Y/N/N):
Aw man, okay.
Stop by after?
T 🤍 :
Of course
I’ll see you later :)
You give the message a heart, before shutting off your phone. As you contemplate what you’re gonna do for lunch, there’s a knock on your door.
“(Y/N/N),” you hear Alyssa’s muffled voice. “It’s Alyssa.”
“Come in!” You call back.
The goalie saunters into your room and plops on your bed. “You wanna grab some dinner?”
“Yeah,” you beam. “I saw a Mexican place downtown that looked good.”
“Hmmm, I had tacos for dinner last night,” Alyssa hums, pretending to think it over, even though she already has a restaurant in mind. “Tobin mentioned a good Japanese place they ate yesterday. We could try that?”
“I could go for Japanese,” you agree. “You wanna head out now?”
“Yeah, I’m down.” Alyssa jumps up from the bed, as you gather your things, following her out the door.
The two of you make light conversation, as you walk through the streets of Santa Barbara, enjoying the warm evening air.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, the hostess leads you to a table by the window, but as you sit down, Alyssa remains standing.
“I just have to run to the bathroom real quick,” she tells you. “If they come by to order drinks, could I get a lemonade?”
“Of course.” You nod, before scanning the menu.
While you think Alyssa is going to the restroom, she is actually going to text Casey that you’re sitting at the table near the window.
After a couple minutes, you hear footsteps approaching, which you think is the waitress coming to take your drink order.
“Hey, funny seeing you here.”
You immediately snap your head up when you hear your girlfriend’s voice.
“T, what are you doing here?” You ask, obviously quite surprised, as Tierna sits down in the chair across from you.
“Well, I was supposed to meet the girls here, and they just they’d be at the table by the window,” she chuckles amusedly. “Obviously our teammates are setting us up, not that I’m complaining.”
You roll your eyes at the teasing smirk on your girlfriend’s face. “Yeah, Lys brought me here for lunch. I didn’t think it was in her to be a part of their little matchmaking plans.”
“Alyssa is full of surprises.” Tierna shrugs, as she picks up the menu to look at it for herself.
“Aint’ that the truth,” you laugh.
As the two of you sit in a comfortable silence, deciding what you wanted to eat, you spot a familiar head of purple hair out of the corner of your eye.
“I think we’re being spied on,” you whisper, leaning forward in your seat.
“Huh?”
“Pinoe’s pink hair is a dead give away,” you slightly nod your head towards the back room of the restaurant.
Tierna turns her head to subtly scan the room, and then lets out an amused chuckle. “So how are we gonna play this?”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, since they’re watching us, do we wanna play into their hands or should we mess with them a little?”
“We could do a little bit of both?” You propose, earning an impressed grin from your girlfriend.
Before Tierna can respond, the waitress comes by to take your orders.
—————
“What can you see?” Sonnett shouts from the other end of the table.
“Keep it down, Sonny,” Kelley scolds, swatting the younger defender’s arm. “But, P, seriously, what’s going on?”
“They’re just talking, laughing occasionally,” Pinoe reports, as she cranes her neck to see the table in the other room. “From what I can see, no sparks are flying yet.”
“Gosh, this is painful. We need to move them along,” Kelley whines, before her eyes widen and her eyes light up, a mischievous smirk playing on her lips. “I have an idea.”
“Oh no,” Christen groans. “This should be good.”
The freckled defender just waves her hand, ignoring her friend’s comment. “Just you wait and see. This is gonna work.”
The team has to wait a couple more minutes until the waitress comes back to refill their waters for Kelley’s plan to unfold.
“Excuse me,” Kelley calls over to the waiter, briefly glancing at her name tag. “Virginia, could I order some dessert?”
“Of course.”
“I’d like to get one slice of your cheesecake, please. And if I could ask for a favor?”
The waitress nods with a polite smile.
“Would you deliver it to my two friends over there sitting by the window?”
“Aren’t those your teammates?” Virginia turns to see where Kelley’s pointing.
“Yeah, we’re trying to set them up. So if you could just say it’s on the house or something, we don’t really want them to know we’re here.”
The waitress just chuckles, as she shuts her notepad. “Of course.”
“Oh, wait,” Kelley stops her one more time. “If you’re cool with it, maybe you could flirt with one of them, maybe say the cheesecake is from you?”
Virginia pauses for a second to contemplate her options, before ultimately agreeing. “Fine, but only if I can get your friend’s number over there.” She smirks and points over to where Emily’s sitting, sipping on a glass of wine.
“Deal, but only if my friends over there get together by the end of the night.”
Virginia just smirks, as she leaves to continue her job and get a slice of cheesecake.
—————
You and Tierna took advantage of the date your teammates had set up for you, enjoying some delicious rolls and a bowl of udon. Even though your teammates were technically in the backroom watching, you and your girlfriend enjoyed a nice evening to yourselves.
As you’re finishing up your meal, the waitress comes over with a slice of cheesecake and places it down in front of you.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” You move to return the dessert. “I didn’t order any dessert.”
“I know, cutie,” Virginia flirts. “That’s from me, on the house.”
“I- I, um.” You blush, flustered, while Tierna shoots silent daggers at the waitress. “I’m flattered, but I actually have a girlfriend.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry,” the waitress apologizes, glancing between the two of you. “Is this your girlfriend?”
“Yeah, I am,” Tierna answers, hints of jealousy lacing her voice, as you give a sheepish nod.
“Ah I see,” Virginia observes, amused, knowing that the other group of soccer players were going to be quite shocked. “Well, I’m sorry, again, for hitting on you. Keep the dessert as an apology?”
“Everything’s forgotten,” you amend with a kind smile. “Thank you for the cheesecake.”
As the waitress turns to leave, she suggests, “Maybe you guys can share? I’m trying to win a bet.”
Before you or Tierna can respond, Virginia gives both of you a knowing smirk, as she takes your plates and goes back to the kitchen.
“What does that mean?” You tilt your head and push the plate of cheesecake towards the middle of the table.
“I assume that our teammates probably had something to do with that whole scene,” Tierna guesses, shrugging, as she takes a bite of the dessert. “Mmmmm, but thank goodness they did because this cheesecake is delicious.”
“Oooooo, let me try!”
As you and your girlfriend share the slice of fluffy cheesecake, your teammates were waiting for something to happen.
“Anything?” Alyssa asks impatiently. The goalie had been becoming increasingly agitated, because she had seriously thought there was something between you two.
“Not yet,” Kelley sighs. By now, the rest of the team had lost interest and decided to just enjoy their night out.
“Oh wait!” Pinoe gasps, holding her hand up to get everybody else’s attention. The pink-haired forward watched intensely, as you leaned in closely to Tierna, who was holding out her fork with a bite of cheesecake for you.
“Baby T just fed (Y/N/N) a bite of cheesecake. I repeat, Baby T just fed (Y/N/N) a bite of cheesecake!” Megan exclaims. “It was the last slice, too!"
“And they are totally giving each other heart eyes right now,” Kelley adds, excitedly bouncing in her seat.
After a few minutes, as the team bubbles with anticipation to see what would happen next, Virginia returns to the table with the checks and hands it to Kelley.
“By the way, you owe me your friend’s number.”
“Um, I don’t think so. We don’t know for sure that they ended up together,” Kelley protests, as she passes the checks down the table.
“Yeah, we do, because they’re already together,” Virginia boasts and moves to collect the empty plates, smirking when she sees you and Tierna holding hands, as you make your way over to the team’s table.
“What? No, they’re not.” The defender frowns, not noticing her two youngest teammates.
“Yes, we are,” Tierna simply states, leading you out the backdoor, as you duck your head to hide your flushed cheeks.
“And, thanks for the cheesecake,” your girlfriend throws over her shoulder, leaving your teammates sputtering in shock with wide eyes and gaping mouths.
“Well, that was fun,” you snicker, as you step outside.
“Yeah, it was,” Tierna agrees, kissing you cheek. “Now let’s go have some fun of our own.”
Laughing freely, you relax into your girlfriend’s side. You couldn’t help but feel lighter, like a weight had been lifted from your shoulders, now that the team knew about your relationship, and maybe this is the push you needed to open up to the women who would soon become your second family.
