Professor Trein and Professor Crewel are both extremely strict about what times a student arrives at class or if they arrive at class at all, which means skipping class or arriving late results in extra lectures or points docked from one’s grade. Due to this, most students attending Night Raven College tried to get to their classes on time, the keyword being “most.”. One of those who aren’t even bothered about his grade was your favorite (read: second favorite) cat, Leona Kingscholar, the second-born prince of the Sunset Savanah. When some people hear his name, they think about a strong lion beastman similar to the King of Beasts or an annoying cat. Yet, you only saw him as a lazy and adorable house cat, one who hated to attend class yet loved to use you as a pillow or just a pack mule, like right now.

You squirmed slightly, attempting to get comfortable on the couch in Ramshackle, only to hear Leona growl slightly, his arms wrapping around your waist as he attempted to get comfy again. “Damnit Yuu, stop moving around. You’re going to keep waking me up.” The lazy lion grumbles, partially hiding his face against your thighs. You sigh, watching his tail flick in annoyance. “You know, I’m going to get in trouble if you keep making me skip class, Leona.”

Leona rolls his eyes and mumbles something beneath his breath, his ears twitching slightly as he listens to your voice and the way you breathe, the latter being a comfort to him, knowing you’re not just going to disappear. “Pillows don’t talk, Yuu.” Leona huffs, which causes you to shake your head slightly before propping your elbow against the arm of the couch and resting your cheek against your palm. As Leona falls asleep, you only hope Grim doesn’t mess up your grades, especially since you promised him a deluxe can of tuna if he was on his best behavior.

arya underfoot is my fave sobriquet in asoiaf. i love love love it. arya is "dubbed" underfoot by her father's men. its a sign of affection between the men who served the starks and arya who took in interest in them. she had a close relationship with all of the people in winterfell and this name is an enduring part of that.

arya says fat tom came up with the name. its one of the last things hullen says with his dying breath. when his son harwin recognizes arya its what he calls her while holding back tears. even in adwd jon and theon both think of her as arya underfoot.

its a name arya likes which is why its frequently used in contrast with horseface - a name that made her feel like an outsider. arya underfoot, though, is a gesture of arya being embraced by her community. it really feels like the truest essence of her character.

I was cleaning up some broken links on my old silly Pokemon fansite, the Neglected Pokemon Lovers Unite (NPLU), and I realized that it has now been open for 25 years. TWENTY. FIVE. YEARS. That is an ASTONISHING amount of time for a site to stay open! Even if the last substantial update was like back in 2009 lol. The world around it has changed so much, but I think it's still valuable as a time capsule of a certain time on the internet. I wrote up a new essay about it on the site and did some general clean-up here and there.

Anyway to that end, since so much of the fic and art there is so old, I decided to compare Radic's oldest form to his newest! Radic was always a human boy but I just couldn't draw humans at the time so I made him a furry lol. Eventually I figured it out.

I also thought it'd be a neat challenge to mimic my own style back when it was really wonky and bad. And it was! It was kind of fun actually. I don't have too many shots of Radic from back then (it was hard to get art on the internet in the late 90's-early 00's), but I do have a few - hugging Kitsune, two old kiribans if you want to compare. I had a lot more old shots of Parasects though to reference unsurprisingly, they were very triangular lol. I think I did a pretty good job of matching what my art used to look like. I had a clear see-through Gameboy back in the day if you can't tell what Radic is holding lol.

("Isn't Radic the faceless avatar of your gamer self as depicted in Handplates-" yes, but Pokemon!Radic is the only one that actually became his own character, all the rest are shells)

If you do go poking around the NPLU, please keep in mind that almost everything there is very old and most of the fic and art is pretty bad (and shockingly violent). Plz do not judge me! My younger self was a cringey weeb but she was trying very hard. :<
