I was cleaning up some broken links on my old silly Pokemon fansite, the Neglected Pokemon Lovers Unite (NPLU), and I realized that it has now been open for 25 years. TWENTY. FIVE. YEARS. That is an ASTONISHING amount of time for a site to stay open! Even if the last substantial update was like back in 2009 lol. The world around it has changed so much, but I think it's still valuable as a time capsule of a certain time on the internet. I wrote up a new essay about it on the site and did some general clean-up here and there.

Anyway to that end, since so much of the fic and art there is so old, I decided to compare Radic's oldest form to his newest! Radic was always a human boy but I just couldn't draw humans at the time so I made him a furry lol. Eventually I figured it out.

I also thought it'd be a neat challenge to mimic my own style back when it was really wonky and bad. And it was! It was kind of fun actually. I don't have too many shots of Radic from back then (it was hard to get art on the internet in the late 90's-early 00's), but I do have a few - hugging Kitsune, two old kiribans if you want to compare. I had a lot more old shots of Parasects though to reference unsurprisingly, they were very triangular lol. I think I did a pretty good job of matching what my art used to look like. I had a clear see-through Gameboy back in the day if you can't tell what Radic is holding lol.

("Isn't Radic the faceless avatar of your gamer self as depicted in Handplates-" yes, but Pokemon!Radic is the only one that actually became his own character, all the rest are shells)

If you do go poking around the NPLU, please keep in mind that almost everything there is very old and most of the fic and art is pretty bad (and shockingly violent). Plz do not judge me! My younger self was a cringey weeb but she was trying very hard. :<

One of my many, many roman empires is the fact that in the early seasons (at least seasons 1 and 2) Lloyd's skin tone was a different shade of yellow than everyone else's

It's particularly noticeable in the intro (these are both from the season 2 intro I believe). His skin is distinctly oranger compared to the others. My working theory is that the more lemony shade everyone else has would clash with his green gi so they changed it for more visual cohesion (if you look at Kai in the green gi back in season 1 you can kinda see it doesn't look as good on him as it does on Lloyd, although the scene is fairly dark so it's not immediately obvious).

i do think its fun once in awhile to stop and remember that my “joestar headshape” as ppl call it, literally started because it was how i wanted to stylize josuke specifically with his pomp, then between wanting the joestar genetics to be so fucking strong in all their family and the next joestar i ended up drawing being jotaro who just fit the headshape with his hat so well

its just funny that it was technically a design choice for josuke before it was a design choice for the joestars

I’m on Season 2 of Monkie Kid because of how obsessed everyone seems to be with it and good god this show is incredible.

It doesn’t hold your hand through the plot, the characters are complex and interesting, and it certainly doesn’t hold back on the animation. I absolutely adore how animated and vibrant and magically everything is animated.

There’s always hints to what is going on in the background plot, but it never quite tells you directly. Macaque is like, an anti-mentor instead of an anti-hero? Which I adore, and I can’t wait for him to keep coming back.

I just watched Sandy pull a One-Punch-Man on a mountain, and he’s just this big lovable dude who seems to have some straight up war-trauma.

And if that’s not all, it hit me with this just a few episodes ago.

I literally don’t think this show can get any more perfect. And it’s about *Legos*. How does this company keep putting out absolute masterpieces??
