I am so close to being done with Royals/Ramblers I can taste it, and it's one of those frustrating situations where the last remaining work to be done is just annoying. I have to write one damn scene, which of course is the most emotionally fraught and difficult one, and then pick from the *counts on fingers* three separate versions of the epilogue I wrote, none of which are very satisfying. I'll probably slam them all together and then sort it out somehow.
And then I definitely have to give the whole thing one more pass before I think about posting, because it's going to clock in at right around 150K words, and I already have notes on continuity issues that need fixing.
Anyway, please enjoy this scene, in which I realized at the same time Gregory and Eddie did what a great joke their names make. (Some brief context -- Joan uses she/her but doesn't like the word "princess", so she chose the gender neutral Princeps as her title.)
Friday evening, when Gregory came on the air for the address, Eddie was sitting next to him, and Joan was leaning on Eddie's shoulder. Her excitement was almost a visible thing; she'd been fussed over that afternoon, Gregory helping her pick out clothing followed by Jerry doing her makeup for camera and Eddie doing a slightly less clumsy job of braiding her hair than she generally did.
"Good evening, Fons-Askaz, Askazer-Shivadlakia, our neighbors, and our viewers abroad," Gregory said. Behind the camera, Jerry mouthed the words along with him absently. "I'm pleased to greet you all this Friday evening and I hope you're well. I find myself, for the second time in a year, setting aside the usual issues of the day and questions from citizens to talk to you about family...."
His idea had been to talk about Joan's history just a little, then introduce her as the newest Royal, their daughter the Princeps. He could use that as a platform to present to the country his new funding package for adoptive families, meant to encourage adoption and support children coming out of the foster system. Each half of that would hopefully make the other half seem less random.
It went pretty smoothly; Eddie chimed in at all the right moments, and Joan got to say a few words of introduction at the end. After he signed off, he gave her a hug and a forehead-kiss and told her she'd done a great job.
And then Noah, standing with Monday and Jerry behind the camera in the little studio, said, "Well, you crashed the internet again."
Gregory sighed. "Can't blame Eddie this time, can we?"
"It was only the tourism website, and it wasn't on purpose," Eddie said.
"He was always breaking my stuff when we were kids," Monday said.
"Nope, this one's all Joan," Noah replied. "As soon as you introduced her as your daughter, traffic started spiking -- palace website, tourism website, and every royals' Photogram."
"Katie in Communications says told you so," Jerry said, already on the phone with her.
"Joan's Photogram is down, looks like bandwidth-suck. And there goes mine, and yours," Noah said, nodding at Gregory. "There's two hashtags trending, PrincessJoan and PrincepsJoan."
"Let me call my guy at Photogram," Eddie said, taking his phone out.
"You have a guy just like, at Photogram?" Monday asked.
"Yeah, he handles my requests, I send him sausages," Eddie answered.
"How is it you simultaneously live in the 22nd century and the 14th?" Monday asked.
"Have him kill the Princess hashtag," Noah suggested.
"It's fine," Joan said. "They can use it for now, it'll keep things, um." She narrowed her eyes, searching for the word. "Segmented. Spread out the discussion a little."
"Someone's been reading my data analytics memos," Gregory said.
"You leave 'em out," she pointed out.
"Good news is people seem excited," Noah continued. "The hashtag's glitching, it's moving so fast, but overall pretty positive," he added.
"Well, we knew this would be intense," Gregory said. Joan, studying her own phone, squeaked. "Joan?"
"Mas Corbin tagged me," she said, with possibly the most excitement they'd seen from her, at least since her first trip in the Jaguar.
"The footballer?" Gregory asked, confused.
"Who?" Noah and Eddie chorused.
"He's a Shivadh footballer, I think he's playing in Ireland right now," Gregory said, and his voice took on a slight edge as he considered some of the reasons a football player might mention his daughter. "What did he say?"
"Dedicating my next game to my new Princeps JoanMac, long may she reign," Joan read, and Gregory relaxed. "Congrats to Gin&Tonic, she's cute as a button. Mas Corbin thinks I'm cute!"
"Gin and Tonic?" Gregory asked, and then said, "Gregory and Theophile," right as Eddie and Monday both began to laugh. "How did neither of us think of that before?"
"You get used to it," Noah said to Joan. "All kinds of famous people are going to have opinions on you."
"What do I do?!"
"Gram him back," Noah said. "Comment and say thanks and that you're a fan and you'll be watching the game."
"I'm gonna have to do a video with some gin and tonic recipes," Eddie said, as Noah and Joan debated the best wording for her response. Gregory leaned back in his chair, exhaling, and let the chaos happen around him for a minute.

As it usually happens on here, we become fans of things by osmosis if we didn't seek it out for ourselves. So I've been following you for a bit and I have finally crossed the threshold from "this person I follow really loves this media and I love seeing their love for it on my dash, so glad they're having fun" over to "I wanna have fun, too." And that's all thanx to @thatgothsamurai's photobooth art.
So, I hope you can guide me on where I should start with patpran and inkpa, and the rest. Like, are they on separate shows that crossover? A spinoff? Like, what's going on, where do I start, how do I watch. Like you, I'm in the US. Any suggestions are appreciated.
AAAAAAAH THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY and thank u @thatgothsamurai for the amazing fanart as always (the photobooth fanart in question, a classic in the fandom)
okay so both patpran and inkpa are canon pairings from the thai bl bad buddy and its related special episodes! all are produced by the thai production company gmmtv.
the show and all related episodes are available to watch on youtube with english subtitles - i'll link to relevant playlists.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THE MAIN SHOW: BAD BUDDY THE SERIES
directed by "aof" noppharnach chaiyahwimhon (who is gay himself), and starring "nanon" korapat kirdpan as pran, and "ohm" pawat chittsawangdee as pat. the original show is twelve episodes, which aired from october 2021 to january 2022. i watched it for the first time in february 2022 and have not known peace every since
the premise is that pat and pran, who have lived next door to each other since birth, have been rivals all their lives because their families hate each other. after pran's sent off to boarding school for three years, they are unexpectedly reunited at university - where they find that their friend groups are also enemies, so they have to keep up the pretense of hating each other. but of course they fall in love instead!
the main story is about patpran, but inkpa is a canon side pairing featuring "love" pattranite limpatiyakorn as pa, pat's younger sister, and "milk" pansa vosbein as ink, a classmate of pat and pran's. though they get less screentime, i still think they have a delightful romantic arc themselves!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SPECIAL EPISODES
zero photography: an inkpa special episode that is set after the main show. directed by "tee" bundit sintanaparadee, whom i don't know much about, and aired in august 2022
our skyy x bad buddy x a tale of thousand stars: so our skyy 2 was an anthology of special episodes released between april and june 2023 for a bunch of different gmmtv bls. each show was supposed to have two special eps for their characters, but since two shows directed by p'aof were getting special eps (the other one being a tale of thousand stars, also a delightful show), he decided to use four episodes as a crossover of the two shows. in the bad buddy timeline, these eps take place during a timeskip that happens in the original show between episodes 11 and 12, and features patpran but has a few great inkpa appearances too. you don't really need to have seen atots to understand the eps, i don't think? but they probably are more enjoyable if you have haha
Tumblr media Tumblr media
EXTRAS
"just friend" music video: nanon sings two songs on the bad buddy soundtrack, and ohm sings one for our skyy 2, all of which have music videos, but i'm linking to this song of nanon's particularly because the music video its own story unrelated to the show at all! it's very cute and is basically an au where they are employees at the same hotel (and in love of course)
23.5 degrees the series: this is not technically related to bad buddy, but milk and love are going to be starring in gmmtv's first full-length gl, 23.5 degrees, which will be directed by "fon" kanittha kwunyoo (who i believe is a lesbian)! thai gls are just starting to get attention and backing by the major tv studios, and milklove's known chemistry from playing inkpa, as well as an exciting supporting cast and director, are making everyone super excited for this
there are also TONS of behind-the-scenes and making-of extras if you get into the show but i figured this was enough to start with :D
let me know if you have questions about any of this! i'm not sure how familiar you are with thai media or fandoms, so definitely happy to share/explain more as would be helpful! <3

Excuse me for being late to the party, but it really feels like the TYBW anime is downplaying Rukia's role with how little screentime she's getting.
Even just in the intro and ending, she's weirdly absent. There's like, a shot of her in each. She was WAY more present in the marketing. Then in the actual show, she doesn't show up until the end of the third episode! Why are we checking in with Komamura and Sui-Fon before the series's deuteragonist? And then she gets completely side-lined in the initial invasion. I was so pumped when the Quincies showed up and started killing named characters, and I was like "Ooh, my girl's in the hot seat -- I sure hope they pair her with someone cool and not stick her in a pointless Designated Girl Fight." And what do they do?
There's nothing wrong with a girl villain, but this one doesn't even have a NAME. We barely see her fight with Rukia at all! The only time we do see them is when Rukia tries to ditch her to help Byakuya (which, honestly, fair, don't waste your time honey). Which makes me wonder, why is Renji up there instead of Rukia? I know he's Byakuya's lieutenant and all, but I can't imagine why the added drama of having Rukia watch from the sidelines while her brother almost dies, somehow wasn't preferable to having her do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Between this and some of the cuts in later episodes, I can't help but get the impression that they want to de-emphasize Rukia so as not to rock the boat about all the ship war stuff. And I just feel like that kind of sucks? Like, she's objectively one of the best characters in Bleach and she's getting sidelined because some toxic fans don't want their endgame ship disrupted.
So much for Studio Pierrot pushing IchiRuki, I guess!

talking about ocs time because i said so but basically. the story that fons in? its about a couple people and their boss. they work at tv studio that produces a show thats more or less a weird game show. most of the actors are afraid of their new boss and the writer, because before new management, it used to more or less, be prettyyy harmful to the actors. so its a mix of the current people working there trying to figure out what all exactly happened previously because nobody wants to talk about it, and figure out more detail to the things that did happened and the other people that work there .

Size and Placement: Determine the desired size of the sign based on where you plan to display it. Consider the available wall space, room layout, and visibility to ensure the sign fits proportionally and complements the surroundings.
Wood Type: Choose a wood type that aligns with your aesthetic preferences and decor style. Popular wood options for custom name signs include pine, cedar, oak, maple, and walnut, each offering unique grain patterns and color variations.
Design and Font: Select a design style and font that reflects your personal taste and complements the overall theme of your space. Consider factors such as readability, font size, script or block lettering, and any additional embellishments or graphics.
Finish and Color: Decide on the finish and color for your custom wood sign, whether it's natural wood tones, stained finishes, painted accents, or distressed looks. The finish should enhance the beauty of the wood and ensure durability.
Customization Options: Explore customization options such as adding decorative elements, borders, artwork, or 3D lettering to make your custom wood sign truly unique and tailored to your preferences.
