i know they are actually not similar but every time i listen/watch [opera] lucia di lammermoor i think about how lucia and enrico remind me of anthy and akio

like the way enrico tells lucia that she has to sacrifice herself to save him or she will be responsible for his death... two doomed and toxic siblings make my brain go brrrrrrr

So... is this all a Lucia di Lammermoor allusion?

In Donizetti's opera, Lucia (Lucy) is forced to marry a lord named Arturo (Arthur). On her wedding night, she goes mad, stabs Arturo, and appears before the wedding guests in her blood-soaked white gown.

And she sings a very long and famous "mad scene," imagining that she is marrying her true love Edgardo (Edgar), beckoning him to come and be united with her.

Many modern performances of the mad scene have the soprano accompanied by a flute, but Donizetti actually intended for the prominent instrument in this scene to be the glass harmonica. For this woman in her blood-stained white dress to be accompanied by the "diabolically sweet tones" of tinkling glass.

The character names, the atmosphere of the scene, and the mention of the sound of glass can't be a coincidence... can they?
