hi!! I just found out about tumblr having an anti-hindutva tag and I shall be making myself comfortable here! just found your account like a few mins ago and if it’s ok, i wanted to ask some questions (you absolutely don't have to answer if you don't like any of them or even if you don't feel like answering :) ) (edit added, this ask got way too long lol. feel free to skip it! also, you're kinda super cool lol)

I'm Indian, currently outside India, and I've only started learning about the shitshow going on in my 'mahaan bharat' since November (specifically since finding out that we are Irahell's biggest weapons buyer). and the more I find out the more shocked and heartbroken I feel...

like this week i learnt about the immigration ban in US against Chinese women that existed a few decades ago, and the ongoing discrimination against Palestinians in Canadian immigration services... and both the times I was so disgusted and there was this subconscious feeling that India should never be like that. but then an hour ago I learnt about the 2019 CAA and wtf!?

another example being that currently we're seeing israhell's continuous bombing of heritage sites of great cultural and religious significance, that also held so many centuries old records and histories... and learning about how they are bulldozing over graveyards and exhuming them...

and then today I learnt about Akhonji Masjid and Gyanvapi Masjid and of course have known about Babri Masjid for a few weeks now...

and only learnt about Kashmir in november...

and I feel like my whole worldview has shifted from a previous foundation, except it's so drastic and I still don't have a new foundation...

I try to talk to members of my family about this but they're the Indian equivalent of the U.S. liberals, and every single time they'll tell me "whatever news you're hearing is propaganda written by Pakistan/China/U.S./Russia. trust me I have Muslim friends and they're very happy. you just don't know the situation cause you're not in India" and like it sometimes make me think maybe I'm the one losing my mind...

I even read some places about free Punjab and that confused the fuck out of me cause I'm Punjabi (who does not live in Punjab) and I don't have any clue what it's about... I asked my fam, but they just gave me a weird look and told me to stay away from anyone that mentions Khalistan😭💀

(this got way longer than I expected, so sorry) but would you have any recommendations for any blogs/articles/books/podcast resources or any personal recommendations for news publications that are reliable (finding God would probably be easier than finding such publications lmao) like I thought Al-Jazeera is super credible, but then read that they're super credible when it comes to Palestine, not when it's global...

hello nonnie! some news sites I'd recommend are newslaundry (they have a youtube channel too), the wire, scroll.in and newsclick. maktoob media is mostly focused on minority rights in india. hindutvawatch.org is about hindu fascist violence committed against minorities. I still think you should stick to al-jazeera at least when it comes to palestine (they have journalists on the ground there, shireen abu akleh was one of them)

this is a good introduction to anyone wanting to learn about hindutva, this and this are about how india is becoming increasingly unsafe for minorites and is undergoing a democratic backsliding. this and this are about the rss link to nazism

for me free punjab is very ?? the indian government is beyond evil as they continue to spy on sikhs abroad (and ofc, how can we forget the 1984 sikh genocide) but i don't think liberation will be achieved through a religious ethnostate. any state formed on the basis of a religion will inevitably turn out to be a disaster. i do encourage you to read lost in history: 1984 reconstructed by gunisha kaur, which is about the human rights violations committed against sikhs during this time and why operation bluestar was in fact not about freeing sri harmandir sahib from "terrorists." all i can say is to stand with sikhs unapologetically as our shitass government continues to commit more and more human rights violations against them

in general, i'd tell you to observe the language used by different news outlets and question it (eg. american news referring to israelis below the age of 18 as children but the same courtesy is not extended to palestinians) and check their sources. if it's from whatsapp university don't even bother

That is every other Royal that exists in the Nether and also at least some of the demons that challenged him for his Royal title lol.

Believe me, no one was or is more surprised then me XD;

So, the thing about where Rire's ichor manifests is that it kinda exists and doesn't exist at the same time. Meaning that his upper back is where the manifestation point is anchored, BUT it can still manifest with a bit of space in between it and his back hence why it will manifest over his clothes and not through them.

So if you touch where the manifestation point is sans the ichor, than you are just straight up touching his back. With the ichor, he still gets sensory input from the tentacles to his back but it's a lot more soft and muted esp the further away it gets from him. As you've seen implied though, he would feel a very sharp pain if a great deal of damage was done to the ichor where it clusters at the manifestation point, since he'd DEF be feeling that straight in his back lol.

He is definitely a top and the only way he would bottom for anybody is if they somehow forced him to.

Ah i knew i'd answered this a long time ago [finally found it]! Holy crosses (those that have been blessed) can also burn him but they would need to be in contact with him the entire time. Being a Royal he also has more of a tolerance to these than normal demons.

Well, unless said person actually has the undeniable ability to make good on their words, Rire would just stand there rather genially with that little smile he sometimes has and let them finish.

And then he might use them as reverse suggestions for dealing with said person (why would you give him any ideas!!?)

Rire heals a lot faster than a human. Cain is not my character so I don't know how his stacks up.

I've grouped these asks cos they kind of have similar answers - 360° (jk sorry sorry to the second q that is just a very common spelling mistake and I couldn't resist XD; )

Now, even though we mashed all the characs together in BTD, they all actually come from different storylines and so their canons outside the "BTD canon" may differ. This tends to bleed in. With this in mind:

The rules of Rire's canon (eg the concept of Battle Royales and how to become a Royal) don't apply to Cain. Anyway, they don't live in the same place either.

Cain is canonically the oldest and most OP character in BTD lol so yes he is stronger than Rire - you might've noticed, but Rire is never in the same drawing as Cain voluntarily. I play with this along with the "natural weakness" aspect - which I've also referred to as scissors-paper-rock rules XD Basically; demons beat humans, angels beat demons (purely because demons have weakness against holiness).

There are viruses in the Nether that if contracted could potentially kill you, yes. Part of being a Royal is becoming a lot more robust than normal Demons though. As for if/when Rire dies, I dunno maybe either in a Battle Royale somewhere thousands of years down the line or by old age (which is rare for a Royal but not impossible if you play your cards right).

It’s the MLP battle vest!! UPDATE

I’ve had this idea for a while, ever since I bought the plain vest. But I was also super inspired by many creators on tumblr!!

Everything I put on the vest and where I got it:

Pins: I made five pins for this vest, I painted three cutie mark pins for Vinyl Scratch, Octavia, and the WoodenToaster. I painted a large pin with the Anarchy symbol in the FIM font, and I made a very large pin from a can top with my mlp color-picked pride flags. The other anarchy pin as well as the He-Man pin were ones I made before. The only two I didn’t make were the trans flag pin and the rainbow flag heart pin. The first I got at a con a few years ago, and the other was a gift.

Panels: I hand painted these starting with a white base, all acrylic paint. I tried to make sure the lines were symmetrical on each side. This is probably my favorite part of the vest and the one I had the most fun working on!!

Studs and safety pins: the safety pins I got at walmart a while back and the studs I got from TreeChild1 on Etsy!

Patches!!: I’ve made 5 patches for this vest so far, my favorite is def the “Blue Hair and Pronounce” one. Most of the patches are used to voice my beliefs, or I just thought they were funny or cool. The other iron-on patches I got from a craft store way before I started working on the vest. I used both embroidery thread and floss to see which one I liked more. I secured knots and loose ends with fabric glue.

hello anon! feel free to send any questions, because at this point, marcus arcane is my chew toy, and i mull over him likely the most after mel. i simply cannot be normal about him.

so i just reblogged the character motivation sheet for jayce, and i really believe that marcus is parallel to jayce. how so, gentle, you may wonder. i'm so glad you asked. what marcus wants most seems to be the ability to keep piltover safe, and to fill the shoes that grayson left behind. we see this in act one, where he follows her religiously, acts in ways for HER best interest because that is how much he loves and respects grayson. AND LET ME PAUSE HERE BECAUSE!!!! WHEN EVERYTHING GOES DOWN AND GRAYSON DIES IN FRONT OF HIM AND SILCO THROWS HIM THE MONEY... and he says this wasn't the deal. JUDAS ISCARIOT!!! iykyk (and if you don't know i will soon be making a set so you see. so you understand). also... the fact that he kept the coin that was encrusted with grayson's blood. as a reminder. marcus,,,,,, baby boy... anyways. let me continue.

I think it's also important to realize that this is likely when he becomes sheriff, seeing as he was grayson's protege. AND THIS IS ANOTHER THING. he and caitlyn were both proteges of grayson. and i believe part of him hates caitlyn, because he realized, in the end that he was a fool, just as grayson had said. that caitlyn was somehow bringing more change/peace than he could. and here's where i strongly believe that if grayson had been around longer, died later, marcus would have been completely passed over as sheriff and the job would have gone to caitlyn, if it had been up to grayson.

ANYWAYS. so then, timeline's a little fuzzy, but i think the year grayson died was the year marcus became a father. after the time skip, i estimate ren to be about 6-7 years old, which means that marcus' main motivation had switched from continuing grayson's legacy to keeping his daughter safe. again, how can we tell? during the funeral for the enforcers, where he's talking of the enforcers protecting mothers, fathers, sons. the camera zooms in to focus on marcus as he mentions daughters.

AND THEN. when he meets with silco, sees the bomb and envisions himself pulling the trigger, and killing both himself and silco. yeah, that scene lives in my head rent free. marcus has always been ready to be the marytr, and i believe, already he considers himself one. the only reason he does not, i think, because then his daughter, ren, would have no one else. i think silco sees he is losing marcus that day, and that is why he turns up to marcus' house, ren's room. and marcus' face when he sees her with him.... people died. (it's me, i am people). it breaks him because the only reason he has remained under silco's thumb, is his desire to protect this daughter, despite the fact that doing so corrupted him.

and then when he holds the gun at caitlyn, he cannot bring himself to pull the trigger. why? WHY can't he pull the trigger? perhaps because of grayson's memory? or perhaps does he think of his daughter in that moment. does he remember that she is someone's daughter too. like, marcus isn't a killer. it's not what he does. he had the opportunity to kill vi, but didn't. he could have killed cait, but again, he didn't. in any case, she does not end up dying, and it is marcus who dies instead.

WHAT ARE HIS LAST WORDS?????????? "Tell my daughter..." I love her. we never get to hear him say it, but we know. we know because after all, everything marcus has done is protect his daughter. to give her safety, and a home. she was his reason for living, and she becomes his undoing, too. he's just a man who was doomed by the narrative before he'd even begun. and in the end, he failed to protect his daughter. i really hope that next season, we get to see marcus' daughter, that caitlyn tells ren that her father loved her.

Huh, that's a new one on me, after hundreds of years"), and jokes about how Rory Williams reminds the Legends of someone but they just can't think who.

🎢 Favourite storyline

Legends of Tomorrow had storylines? I jest - although those def weren't the reason I watched the show. But I really enjoyed the android-clone Legends plot in the final season (I think it was the final season?) That was peak Legends chaotic weird. And because android Zari is the ultimate Zari and also my perfect woman.

💎 Favourite friendship

Mick and everyone. Mick and Amaya were wonderful. Mick and Ray, comedy duo for the ages. I wanted a lot more of Mick and Zari ("New Girl," beta reader for Mick's novels). Mick and Ava were a weird unexpected treasure later in the show. And of course, the absolute joy that is Mick and Sara - brotp forever. They had their ups and downs but they were family in a way that maybe only Snart ever was for Mick before. Excuse me, I'm off to cry and write Mick Rory fic.

🌠 Favourite episode

Here I Go Again. No Legends episode was ever perfect, but that one came damn close. The scenes between Zari and Nate will live rent-free in my head forever. "Groundhog Day!" "You're stuck in a time loop and we have to stop the ship from exploding?"

🔫 Favourite superpower

The superpowers aren't really what make this show great - some of the most watchable Legends in fight scenes have no powers - but I did enjoy everything they did with John Constantine's magic. If that counts as a superpower.

🤣 Funniest moment

How do you choose?? Any of the seriously weird shit Legends got away with. "Puppets of Tomorrow" and, possibly even weirder, demon puppet Stein. Gorilla Grodd fighting young Obama. Inspiring George Lucas to make Star Wars. Giant Voltron Beebo. "Guest Starring John Noble." Leo making the terrible mistake of trying to get the crew to share their feelings (a lot of the funniest scenes involved puppets). I could go on forever. Damn I miss this show.

this is a nice selection of scenes @chenfordsource! just wanna correct some misinfo.

kilig doesn't really apply to the actual feeling of kissing someone for the first time. there's a certain je ne sais quoi to it that's best described as the giddy feeling one gets after receiving an unexpectedly romantic gesture from one's partner (or after witnessing a romantic moment between a couple).

melissa o'neil is a master at portraying this reaction whenever tim gives lucy an unexpected compliment (like in 3x11 below). it's a testament to the actress's training and talent because she knows exactly what the untranslatable emotion looks like, even if it isn't commonplace for directors of western media to ask for/include this specific shot. (it's a common kdrama shot.)

this command of her craft adds great depth to chenford's romance, but ofc it can only do so much, so dialogue is still a must.

also, maybe it was a deliberate choice because chenford's story is still unfinished, but i would be sad if their romance was yuánfèn coded instead of red thread of fate (yīnyuán hóngxiàn) coded. the latter kinda means soulmates; the former induces heartbreak.

from my understanding, yuánfèn is a concept similar to a line from a tagalog song, pinagtagpo pero 'di tinadhana, which means 'destined to meet, but not fated (to be forever).' ouch.

for those who don’t know, the red thread of fate is akin to the western idea of soulmates, wherein two romantic partners are believed to be tied together with a red thread that can never be broken. all kinds of shit can happen to the thread, but the two are literally bound by fate to find eternal happiness within each other in this lifetime, come hell or high water.

any two people can have yuánfèn, similar to 'everything happens for a reason' or 'nothing happens by chance' in the western world. any persons A and B are always brought together by fate, not just simple coincidence.

but again, having yuánfèn with someone doesn't guarantee a forever ending. reincarnation is a big part of east asian culture, so it's believed that while you may not be fated with that special someone in this lifetime, you may be in the next (or in a past life).

hopefully chenford makes it in this lifetime, but there are certainly a bunch of other paths that their story can take.

for instance, in korean culture, 인연 (in-yeon) is a similar concept of destiny, usually closely associated with one’s 첫사랑 (cheot-sarang), or first love. it's believed that one has greater in-yeon with their first love, making a forever life with that person more likely.

not certain about the PEMDAS at play since lucy's first love is tim, which isn’t the same as her being inexperienced or naive ftr. determining your first love is based more on feeling than technicality. who is the first romantic partner that you’ve given your heart to?

for tim, i would argue that it’s isabel. he sincerely loved her and was willing to do anything for her/to get her back, but it just wasn’t meant to be in this lifetime…haha unless? 🤔 who knows how they’ll shake shit up?

Question First of all, I'm coming at this from a cis woman (maybe? definitely trans misogyny exempt if not cis) perspective, but I'm writing a trans girl in a story I'm currently working on, and I have been tossing around ways to casually state that in the story so that it is firmly and explicitly stated but not falling into the traps of making her whole character be her gender. I've scoured your tags and most of the previous Qs I see seem to have to do with adult or at least older characters, and this character of mine is in elementary school (11 when introduced, to be exact), so I thought I'd ask. Context: the gist of it is that this character and her friends become magical girls, and she is introduced in the middle of the story as a new transfer student, so she is just meeting these other kids. This kid is fully accepted and her gender is affirmed by everyone in her life, no question, so I don't want to misgender her or use transphobia in anyway as a vehicle for mentioning it (e.g. via correcting pronouns misuse or deadnaming).  I've been stewing on this for a while and the idea I came up with was expressing her being trans in casual conversation while her and the central protagonist are bonding over their shared favourite in-universe cartoon. That is, the trans girl expressing casually in the conversation that connecting with the main character (a girl) of that in-universe cartoon helped affirm her sense of gender/gave her gender euphoria. And met with something to the effect of "oh that's neat!" and moving on to continue talking about the cartoon. If that's not a sketchy way to approach it, do you have any tips on how to phrase it perhaps? I don't want to get caught on a "good idea, bad execution" situation if it is appropriate. But if it's not, do you have any other suggestions about how one might express that at such a young age? A lot of the suggestions I saw in previous answers referenced things I think a character as young as mine wouldn't necessarily be experiencing yet (references relating to HRT, etc.) Thanks in advance, and I apologize for the length, I just wanted to be as specific as I could to narrow down the hypothetical work for you folks!

IMO this is a pretty good way to do it! Another thing you could have her say are things about helping her figure out who she was. (Not necessary I think, just trying to give you more to go off of.) References to the past with the wording, "when people thought I was a boy" may be okay too, so long as it's very clearly in reference to the fact of it being incorrect, are also okay.

I think also for youngins you can still incorporate little references to trans pride. There are also events specifically for trans children and their parents that happen sometimes in bigger cities. My city has an "all bodies welcome" swim event specifically for trans people of all ages, but it's often marketed specifically as something parents can take their trans children to.

Depending how recent her trans identity was established, here's some other ideas for coming out to the reader.

references of receiving hand-me-downs as a specific gesture of gender affirmation/support by extended family, neighbours and such

a relative "mending" an embroidered baby blanket to have her current name on it

mentions of family-oriented pride events

mentions of relating to other trans characters in media, books, etc

bedrooms, photo albums, sentimental objects, may have references to birth assignment in things like blue or pink baby memorabilia (trans people feel a lot of different ways about childhood photos - I love mine and I think most trans people are neutral, but your mileage may vary)

So… i live in the east coast and our temps are all over with climate change and such. So, you aren’t alone in your worry for your fungi babies :)

I keep my main lab area at 70-72 and my inner cloister/closet stays around 1F hotter than the main area.

What temps are you at currently?

Do you have an infrared temp gun? If not consider getting one! 20-30$ and great for accuracy. Consider that internal temp of colonizing fungus will be 1F hotter generally than rest of jar or tub due to metabolism.

I’ve colonized in jars and bags and fruited Cubensis at 68F … but it’s slower going :) I’ve also fruited at 80F … it’s faster but you open yourself up to potential heat moving contam. I take the balanced approach of staying around 71-73 at all stages of the process :) things may move slower but only a few days difference and no stressing out about temp control xD

Hey, I have a question about your Sing oc. I see in posts you mention their a writer. I just wondered if they were there during the events of Sing 2, how would they had handled Gunter coming up with the show? Would it be a butting heads because of different ideas or working well together on a project?

Okay so

Mr Snorp actually comes after the events of Sing2!

He's famous for writing a ton of neat mysteries about MURDER and JEWEL THIEVERY and HEISTS and DETECTIVES and edgy fun stuff like that. Buuut he hit a huge wave of art block and has been super duper struggling to come up with anything that makes him happy. So, thinking he needs to try something new, he hires a talent scout to find him something unique (instead of just using the internet hAHAH) and Suki Lane directs him to the Moon Theater Team.

Sneep sees a production of Out of This World and is BLOWN AWAY.

So he schmoozes his way in (breaks into the backstage) to ask the director who the "genius behind the show" is, meets Gunter, and starts trying to pick apart how Gunter's creativity works.

Gunter is fantastic and kind and very hyped up. Sneep Snorp absolutely loves it. But does get a little jealous sometimes

Buster picks up on Sneeps frustrations pretty quickly and offers to help Sneep write something new, and thus a funky little team was born :^)

For the most part it's pretty fun, but sometimes Sneep goes back to his eccentric habits he picked up while working alone for so many years 🤔 he hides out in small spaces to think and stands dramatically at windows and monologes to himself and silly stuff like that. He's still learning how to work in a team heheho

Evie is probably most fond of either spring or fall. She loves summer and winter for the break from school, but spring and fall have the better weather

Evie collects lots of things. Lotion bottles, dried-out scented gel beads, embellished stickers, to name a few.

🌿Do they like camping or road trips?

Outside of the road trip to San Francisco to investigate Isa's job at ClickIt in HSS 2 and the anticipated road trip for the OG gang in the HSS:CA 3 series finale, she hasn't really gone camping or on road trips very often. She does like the idea, though she's one to get very anxious in the seat during the long car ride.

Her favorite treat tends to be corn dogs, and her favorite attraction tends to be the spinning chair swing ride.
