Okay I know almost nothing about Eleanor but apparently I'm most like them according to your little quiz so I am now curious -
What is Eleanor like? Tell me everything! I want to know how accurate it is!
OH THANK YOU @fearofahumanplanet sorry it took me so long to get to this I had a busy ass day yesterday and Friday was also crazy! Anyway, here goes!
I’m so excited you got Eleanor she’s the absolute best, she marks the end of the story and when Verity truly finally realizes that she deserves happiness and love and all that good stuff.
She was raised in upstate New York by parents who are VERY INTENSE private investigators. We’re talking like helicopter parent supreme, she was hardly allowed to do anything and was constantly put in like… self defense classes, she was basically homeschooled so that they could teach her “what she needed to know” and shit like that. She always told them that she super did not want to pursue their careers even though they wanted her to, and that she wanted nothing to do with investigation.
That was a big ol lie, she’s a journalism major now. She actually kind of loves it, too. She mainly decided to go to NYU because one of the cases her parents are working on right now involves a lot of missing girls in the city, and her parents refuse to leave their upstate city to investigate, so she’s taking it upon herself (it’s vampires, it’s all vampires, she just doesn’t know that).
Her absolute favorite thing is her conspiracy wall in her apartment relating to her case. She doesn’t actually believe in vampires up until meeting Verity, she’s not even really a “ghosts might be real” kinda gal, if we’re being honest. She’s stubborn though, and believes that with enough work, she can and will figure out ANYTHING.
She and Verity had the most interesting meeting out of everyone, honestly, because Verity started off by seeing her as a target, and fully almost attacked/killed her, but stopped because something in the way that Eleanor was reacting to the attack caught her attention. She was almost fully at the point where she had given up on love/finding anyone, but then she sort of started seeing Eleanor everywhere and decided that maybe it’s worth it to try one more time.
She might be stubborn, and she might make some pretty terrible decisions regarding her own sense of self-preservation, but she means well, and all she wants to do it help people understand what’s going on. She began liking Verity because Verity presented the sort of case that had never been solved by anyone on the planet, but she stayed with Verity because she saw that Verity was as hardworking, caring, and painfully stubborn as she was. They fuck around with each other a lot. It’s very sweet, and they do love each other more than anyone else can see on the surface.

Alien, Reese's, plague doctor
Ooo Alien is such a good movie! And definitely agree with the Reese’s - always excited to get those 🍭
I wanted to make a character/moodboard for Jörmungandr, their history and character design is so cool! I hope this is okay, and that you like it!
Tumblr media
The Serpents They Stone
In an alternate version of our world where gods lived alongside humankind and brought them to a new level of technological prosperity, the dreaded World Serpent Jörmungandr reveals herself to have survived Ragnarok while rescuing her villainous old flame, the Phantom Queen Badb. Quickly finding herself pursued by the entire world for the prophecy that promises she will end the world, Jörmungandr dedicates herself to saving Badb from the "Black Pharaoh" that enslaves her - even as Badb is forcibly driven to remain sinister and create chaos.

You don’t get to just ominously bring up snapping rats and then go “long story”
I must know now-
HAHA
So basically, to try and sum up a long story, the first time I had ever actually played D&D (I had played similar TTRP but not the real deal), the DM I had was chaotic as all hell.
Not that I can say much, my character was an air genasi bard who owned her own restaurant and was named Panee Panini (or something like that)
And doing our campaign, I think maybe even just one or two sessions in, our characters were plagued by this snapping noise but all of our checks would fail. So we're being tortured by this snapping, unable to figure out where it was coming from. Until someone finally rolled a nat20 and all that occurred was these rats came out of hiding and said, "we're the snapping rats".
I'm still haunted by it until this day but I do actually pay homage to them in my fantasy story haha

63, 73, 100 for whatever OC(s) you want
going to go with oliver bc that's my mc for my nano novel!
63. How self-disciplined is your oc? Do they often think before they act, or the other way around?
oliver is generally very impulsive. pretty much everything he does is based on his current state, whether that's what he wants or is thinking about or feeling or just his mood.
73. If your oc were to be arrested, what would it most likely be for? Is it justified? Have they actually been arrested before?
murder lol. nah, either a drunk and disorderly, or he'd probably drive drunk since downtown is pretty near his neighborhood. he'd at least spend the night in the drunk tank. fortunately, he's yet to be arrested.
100. Does your character ever swear? How often? How vulgar is their swearing?
really the only time oliver swears is if he trips or stumbles or hits a body part on something. he's extremely clumsy, so that's pretty frequent. he will also swear when he rants about his parents. i guess he does swear a lot.
thanks for sending!

Forest Green, Dusty Rose, Bubblegum Pink
Thatnk you! The ask game in question
Forest Green: What’s your favourite genre to write?
Horror shorts! You'd be amazed at how much dread and fear you can build in less than 2,000 words.
Dusty Rose: Your personal favourite character in your wip
That's got to be the Lieutenant! A soldier out of time and an absolute WRECK of a human, to say she's been through hell and back really isn't far off.
She staggered out of a rip in the veil - a breach - killed a few Fae creatures, then called herself in because hey, soldier knows the process, right?
Except it's been nearly 400 years since she went into the Fae Wilds in the first place. The war with the Fae ended just over 350 years ago. She is full of PTSD and barely unchecked agression for a fight that doesn't exist any more, and the military doesn't know what to do with her. SHE doesn't know what to do with her, because whatever happened in the Fae Wilds, she can't remember a damn thing. As far as she's concerned she stepped through to go IN and got spat straight back OUT.
She is currently spending her days in a maximum-security facility while the bigwigs try to figure out what to do with her.
She doesn't stay there very long.
Bubblegum Pink: If you could only write one genre for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Probably horror again! Something I learned from reading Anthony Horowitz as a kid is that you can spin a good spooky story out of just about anything - I still vidily remember a short story he wrote about a haunted bathtub, and I'm in my 30's now so it's testament to his skill that it's stuck with me through the rest of my memory blackouts.
Thank you for the ask!

24, 26, 29 for Casimir
Jane! Thank you for the asks!
From this OC ask game
24. how does your OC handle death of someone they know?
For Caz, not well. If it's someone he doesn't know that well he may try to distance himself, but he will at least try to help those who were impacted (he was the only one in his building who visited his neighbor when her husband died, and even brought her something from her favorite bakery).
If it was someone he was close with, he will probably get blind-drunk and start blaming himself in some way, and begin revisiting all the people he's lost over the years.
26. Least favorite food and color?
Hm, this one was surprisingly hard.
For color, maybe yellow? I think he would look pretty terrible in it and it would remind him of the pretty flaxen color his hair used to be.
For food? Caz always loved food and cooking, and the fact he cannot eat anything but variants of blood and some softer organs really is a tragedy. I think he sees the bagged, over-preserved snack foods Jade eats instead of a home-cooked meal an affront on good cuisine but, let's be honest, if he could eat it he would.
29. When was their first kiss?
I spoke about how Caz lost his virginity a while back but have given less thought to a first kiss. It would have been one of the girls in his village, no doubt, probably in his early teens when he was supposed to be tending to his family's sheep or on the way back from church.

Which part of writing annoys you the most?
hehe the part where if I don't plan anything I can't write but also how planning and good ideas are really really hard lol
Do you have any characters based off people you know?
Yes! my character Silvia is based on one of my good friends irl (though not really intentionally, at least at first), but all of my characters draw from the people around me, to an extent. I can certainly tell which ones are most similar to which of my friends.
Unrelated but what are your opinions on J.K.Rowling?
No one deserves really bad things happening to them, but it's a shame that she got so polarized from already kind of a shitty start. now I guess I'm just waiting for her books to lose popularity, if that will ever happen. when I was younger I was obsessed with the books and I can still recall extremely niche factoids about the books, which feels really icky now.

Thank you for the ask, and the chance to talk about how I write!
20: How many WIPs and story ideas do you have?
I keep trying to shrink this number by redefining what counts as “in progress,” then finding new ways to potentially resurrect my shelved/abandoned story ideas and adding onto the pile again. Right now I’m mainly giving attention to 3-4 original novel WIPs, around 6-10 original short story WIPs (some of which belong in a specific collection), and 4-6 fanfiction WIPs of various lengths. I also have 2-4 old novel ideas I’m considering revisiting, not to mention the countless new ideas I cycle through all the time. That said, all of these are on my own time so I’d give deadline priority to any commissions over other works if requests ever came my way.
29: Who’s is/are your favorite villain(s)?
Like the favorite character question from earlier, I have a hard time picking favorites. In the case of my villains, this difficulty largely comes from the different purposes they serve. Some of my villains are likeable as people, making their actual philosophies something I can work into the themes of my stories. Others are absolutely despicable, can’t possibly be redeemed, and serve the role of exploring the protagonists’ emotions while giving the reader some fully-justified satisfaction when they’re taken down in some way. Of the likeable people, most of them are spoilers but I like Martin Pond from the short story “Chances Taken.” He’s greedy and career-focused, but he does care about the people around him and it makes his choices interesting as he tries to balance those aspects of himself. Of the despicable people, I like to hate Tristan Hunt from the novel “To Be Honest” because he’s modeled after a despicable person in my own life and it’s extremely cathartic to have the protagonists get away from him in an even more final and direct way than I did with his model.
31: What is your least favorite part of writing?
It’s less of a craft issue and more of a personal issue, but I hate everything that comes with the feeling of not believing in my own writing. The way it makes motivation difficult, the way it makes me want to delete my rough drafts when I reread them, the way it makes sharing/publishing my work anywhere seem like a terrible idea. I’m working past that self-doubt and learning to appreciate my writing for what it is even in its most painfully rough stages, but there’s nothing that makes writing harder than thinking I’m terrible at it and won’t ever write things that anyone enjoys. I don’t think it’s just a specific mental health thing, either, although I know my anxiety and even my trauma history do play a part in my case. I think it’s a facet of all creative pursuits. That feeling creeps up on almost everyone, and takes the joy out of creating at all. It’s something that can only truly be counteracted by a combination of rest and absolute nonsense. Take a break, make some nonsense things that never have to come together to be anything or go out to any audience, take another break if needed, and then get back to your creative work when you remember why it mattered to you in the first place.

What's the wildest trigger warning for one of your wips ? Like, what trigger warning would make readers take a moment to try and figure out how such a warning could possibly apply ?
that’s a very good question! i think the biggest one would be donut wip and all i’ll say is “cat related violence”

23, 29, 34 for OC ask game
»»—————————- 𓆩❤︎𓆪 —————————-««
𝚁𝚘ü𝚡𝚘 𝚔𝚘𝚓 𝚊𝚟𝚠𝚎𝚒; Hello, my friend, and good evening!
From this ask game.
Once again, I've added links to characters' Pinterest boards, and tagged content warnings accordingly! Please let me know if I've missed anything ❤︎
WHICH OC IS THE MOST…
Extraverted?
(ward link cw: snakes, images/tattoos depicting death) One of the first inamorata I created, Ward is easily the one to get the most energized when around others. Ward owns a Firmic (Earth) tattoo shop where they provide ink, piercings, and more to anyone of the supernatural, alien, or paranormal mortalis. They're known for their love of snakes, their pierced wings, golden tattoos, wild hair, and most of all, their large number of boyfriends and/or partners. Ward has a lot of love to give and they're quite good at making others feel at ease, whether while working in the shop or while entertaining in bed.
Fair?
(auris link cw: images relating to death, blood, toxic/abusive relationships) In this case, I'm taking this to mean 'fair in their actions and beliefs.' And I'll be choosing Auris! They're the MC of Arcane, an older WIP of mine, and are a young archaic being. They embody the shroud; a field of energy between Alatheia and Elysia, and they are often referred to as the Guardian of Innocence. Having been taken advantage of as a young bounty hunter, they now keep the balance between the Worlds and bring their bounties to a rehab center, instead of killing them.
Outspoken?
This one definitely goes to Asimina, a solar human and pirate captain. She's known for her sharp tongue and chaotic attitude, and never hesitates to say it like it is. This often gets her into trouble, whether she's refusing to submit to another pirate, or stating a fact of a typically respected character.
I should probably clarify that I have 280+ characters to choose from while answering these. Eventually, I'll have a character masterlist available for y'all to look at. It's currently in progress c;

N A M E S A K E 🌷💀🏛️
for nanowrimo 2023
with my fourth rewrite officially started, it was time for an updated wip intro! some settings, conflicts, and character arcs have drastically changed, but we're hauling ass to finish this damn thing.
Genre: Myth retelling
Projected word count: 95,000
🏛️ SUMMARY
a hades and persephone myth retelling in which kore, newly dead, is taken to the underworld to rot as mortals do. when hades discovers she is the godly offspring of his older siblings, he tricks her into eating pomegranate seeds and siphons her abilities into his own domain, unleashing a curse that ultimately causes him to start to decay.
NAMESAKE explores stolen girlhood, death and rebirth, patriarchal structures, grief and atonement, and redeemed villains through lyrical, flowery prose. this novel is ideal for devourers of anne carson's translations, circe by madeline miller, and ardent readers of louise glück.
follow along as demeter receives her deserved redemption arc as her harrowing grief threatens the balance of life and death; kore blooms into persephone, queen of the underworld and polluter of the gaian realm with festering necromancy; and hades uncovers a love for humanity and what it means to have agency in a body robbed of it.
🌷 KORE / PERSEPHONE
flower maiden and queen of the underworld
a deathbound flower maiden lured into the underworld, where the rotten and fiendish welcome her home. as her flower-weaving evolves into necromancy and the routes to gaia emerge for the dead, she soon becomes lost in a world of carnivorous, wrathful summer, harnessed by her mother’s despair that has buried the realm in everlasting mourning.
💀 HADES
receiver of the dead and king of the underworld
a king-deity who's tired of the shadows and seeks to be the nightmare mortals dare not utter. but after succumbing to a vengeful curse that begins his undoing, hades loses his agency and godhood, and learns to survive without all the power and might his birthright afforded him. misanthropic goth king forfeits the body to bed a wife but finds the heart to love one.
🌾 DEMETER
mother earth and goddess of harvest & earth fertility
a mother who grieves a world without her beloved daughter. her disappearance creates a chain of events in which the dead spill into the land of the living while an unrelenting garden sweeps over the mortal plain and threatens to end all life.

4 and 8 for WIP questions :)
Why hello there (;
4. Who would you say changes the most throughout the story, whether that be good or bad?
This is a really good question, really got me thinking haha.
In all honesty, I think Aleah is the one who changes the most in the story, for the both the better and the worst. Without going into too much detail, I think slowly she becomes more aware of the effect her actions on those around her whereas before she might've noticed but didn't care enough. This leads her to honestly become worse in a lot of ways (perhaps out of guilt, perhaps not) but I think her slowly recognizing there's a problem helps in admitting there is a problem. You're welcome to interpret that however you want haha
8. Have you ever had a wip which is a fix-it story of a shitty piece of media? What is it?
Oh my goodness, yes. I have a work that is kinda infamous amongst my friends and the like haha.
So for some brief context, when I was a pre-teen, I became absolutely obsessed with The Walking Dead and just zombie stuff in general. So despite my former dislike of writing, I had decided that I (with no writing experience outside of school) would singlehandedly write a zombie apocalypse story that would rival TWD because I could do soooo much better.
Let's just say, it's definitely something but if it weren't for that particular WIP, I probably wouldn't be where I'm at. So while I hate it, it's very near and dear to my heart.
Thank you for the ask, I hope you have a wonderful day!
