Well, can we talk about Russian translation of the warrior names? It's gonna be a long post bc it's very different from the original and might be really weird.
So there is no translation for -kit suffix. Instead kittens have diminutive suffixes and their names are something like Little Snow (Snowkit).
Apprentice names may have -paw suffix, or may not. They also may have diminutive suffixes instead. For example, Bluepaw is Bluepaw, but Firepaw is Little Fire.
Also warrior name and apprentice name not always keep the same prefix. For example, Brackenpaw is Bracken, but Brackenfur is... Brown.
Most of the warrior names are translated without their suffixes. Sometimes they add suffixes that don't have any specific meaning and can't be translated on English (I guess?). Sometimes it's just straight up the translation of their prefixes only. I mean, Squirrelflight is simply Squirrel, Brambleclaw is Bramble, Dovewing is Dove, etc.
Often they change their prefixes for who knows why. So the translated names might have from little to no connection to the original ones. For example:
- Crowfeather is Rook
- Jayfeather is Sparrow
- Feathertail is Swallow
- Sorreltail is Lungwort
- Ivypool is Spark (I have no idea why)
- Meanwhile Sparkpelt is Firelight
In first arc name translation was really... weird. I mean:
- Ravenpaw is Burnt (why???)
- Dustpelt is Smoke
(kinda funny if you consider that they are brothers)
- Sandstorm is Sandstorm but her apprentice name was... Mustard. Yes, like the sauce (it's actually a plant with the same name)
- Graystripe is Steepflank (btw his apprentice name was ughhh... Ball)
- Darkstripe is Stakewall (do cats even know what is it?)
- Yellowfang is something like Pockmarked??? I don't really know how to correctly translate it, sorry
- Whitestorm is Blizzard
- Mousefur is Tuft (like, bunch of fur on cat ears or tail)
- Frostfur is Snow White (yes, like a Disney princess)
- Willowpelt is Blueeye
- Brindleface is Silver Fox
- Rosetail and Brightflower were firstly named as Viburnum and Nasturtium but then they changed it
- Mistyfoot is Invisible (actually, there is a noun in Russian that doesn't exist in English, and it means someone who is invisible)
- Leopardfur was Ocelot, but as leader she becomes Spotted Star (how boring)
Btw leader names almost always stay the same, so there are a few exceptions:
- Tallstar is Star Beam
- Raggedstar is Shred of Comet
- Crookedstar is Meteor
(yes, these two don't have "star" in their names)
- Tigerstar and Brokenstar are something like Starscratcher and Starbreaker (wow, evil)
- btw Tigerclaw is just Claw. No tiger.
Also -heart is often changed to -mane for some reason. For example, Fireheart is Firemane, Alderheart is Aldermane, Cinderheart is Cindermane. Tigerheart is Clawmane, if it even makes sense (his leader name is Clawstar, so no confusion between two Tigerstars).
And sometimes characters just keep the same name. For example, Ashfur as an apprentice and a warrior is Coal (or more like Little Coal, which is why nobody takes him seriously /hj)

In light of looking at the warrior cats forums recently and seeing a lot of talk about which cats would win in fights based on their canon performances, I want to ask about... fighting skills in your rewrite. I feel like canon makes ThunderClan cats overpowered with them winning all of their battles, and I already know you have made some changes to at least one cat's level of fighting skills, with Deadfoot getting a buff with his leg gauntlet and now being on the same level as Leopardfur. So, who do you plan to be the strongest and weakest fighters? I would love if you included some more minor characters in Clans other than ThunderClan in "strongest fighters" here.
An opportunity to explain which of my Littlest Petshop figurines has the strongest smash abilities? Don't mind if I dooo
Absolutely don't worry about ThunderClan hogging all the strongest fighters, I disagree heavily with the general fandom consensus that TC is The Fighting Clan. It's a BATTLE CULTURE. They ALL fight. They all have to fight THUNDERCLAN too at points, it's not like TC is the sleeping giant of the forest you know?
General Ability
While I haven't made "stat charts" yet (though i am only one bored afternoon away from making one), I try to imagine my major characters (and plenty of supporting ones) as having specific strengths and weaknesses
Brief list of some of the "stats" I've considered
Battle Skill = NOT raw strength; how good they are at fighting period.
Hunting (General) = Overall ability to find food in all situations
Hunting (Specific) = RiverClan's canonical 'white water fishers' or Bonefall Tallpoppy's frog hunting talent
Diplomacy = Conflict deescalation skills and persuasion
Craftiness = Problem-solving skills and dexterity
One of the reasons my Clan Culture series has slowly started to bleed into the Bonefall Rewrite is exactly because "craftiness" makes a really good 'stat' when the imagined 'mass' of a given Clan starts to become too generic fighter/hunter heavy.
But a Deputy is chosen exactly because they excel in as many skills as possible. So you can safely assume that any time you are dealing with a deputy, you are getting ready for a miniboss fight.
Exceptions to the rule being, of course, when the deputy has been chosen for reasons unrelated to their actual skill. Onewhisker was an unfortunate example; nepotism picks also happen.
Some Amazing Fighters In No Particular Order
When I pick cats who are GREAT fighters I try to avoid just picking large, muscular cats like canon does. Sorreltail is HUGE like her dad Whitestorm, but she really doesn't have the same chops. I really like to consider actual fighting styles.
Deadfoot
Like other WindClan fighters, he's super fast. His gauntlet is actually more defensive than you'd guess. Getting a FULL bonk with it is cumbersome, but if it lands, it's devastating. To do it he has to rear up and bring it down with full speed so if his enemy is anticipating this, it leaves his belly wide open
Plus, that time he fought Leopardfur by the gorge, he was probably wearing his travel gauntlet (lightweight for comfort). Not the battle one. It was a very fair fight.
Jayfeather
His fighting style is distinctive and looks horrific to an observer. Because he's blind and fast-moving targets evade him, he has been trained to latch on. Like a dog. He gets a bite and grapples, only letting go to get a better position.
I think it's kinda fun to think that Deadfoot's grandson has an equally unique fighting style to his own.
Tangleburr
And there are a ton of great ShadowClan fighters, but Tangleburr LOVES to fight and gets in so many spats and brawls that she's just ferocious. I like to think her and Brokenstar used to playfight a lot as kids, when he wasn't hanging out with Runny.
Lizardstripe wasn't an ABUSIVE mother, but she did have a generally bad idea of what sorts of activities were developmentally appropriate. If the kids wanted to brawl she would happily tussle. She probably nicked an ear on accident at some point.
So, Tangle has had a lot of experience fighting cats who are larger than herself. Important skills, considering she's about the same size as Runningnose.
Leopardstar
Of course she's a very strong cat, but I also want to mention she kills Thistleclaw, because the patrol that he dies on is now the same one that kills Sunfish. She ripped his throat open in revenge and he drops like a sack of potatoes.
She also has a habit of dramatic entries in canon that I really like and want to work in more of-- that time in Dangerous Path where she drops off a cliffside and JUST barely misses Fireheart's neck, slicing his shoulder open like a dropped butcher knife? Marvelous. I love that for her
When Mistyfoot has to kill her later, she got a bit lucky, or maybe a little bit blessed. There was a large stone just poking above the water and Misty smashes Leopardstar's head against it. She might not have won if it wasn't for that stroke of fate.
Hawkfrost
Bonefall Hawkfrost is much thinner than his dad and brother. He's an excellent fighter because his WHOLE body moves, a sort of cat-ambidexterity. I really like that one scene in OotS where he's training a bunch of the DF trainees how to fight a crowd so I based his entire fighting style on it.
He can be grappling the cat in front of him, then twist his weight to throw them right at the next cat running up. Sneaking up on him never works as his back leg lashes out to strike you square in the face. He's like a war machine.
His drawback of course is that fine motor skills are beyond him. He couldn't weave a nest if his life depended on it.
There's others that I've picked to have a generally high Fighting Skill stat but hasn't really worked out their styles; Torear, Whitewater, Rosepetal, Thornclaw, Graystripe, Skyheart, Icewing, Mudclaw, Sedgewhisker, Marshwing, so on.

I forgot about the kittypet Sandstorm stuff! I think that could be a fun AU, definitely :D
I don't know much about it at all, but I certainly wasn't expecting Fireheart to be related to Tigerclaw. Given Tigerclaw and Rusty's dynamic in canon, I suppose that'll definitely make for some drama between the two.
I wonder how relationships will be this time around, as well. Is it going to be a SandstormxFireheart? Or how about Fireheart's other relationships in general, since he isn't just swapping roles with Sandstorm - he's the oldest (assuming) son of the most well-respected cat in the clan. Is he Goldenflower's child? Realistcally, probably not since Goldenflower had Swiftpaw before getting with Tigerclaw at all, but speaking of Swift, I imagine Fires relationship with him/his other siblings will probably be a Whitestorm/Graystripe thing. Although hopefully closer, but I imagine that depends on how much Fires actually follows in his father's evil pawsteps or whatever.
I have a soft-spot for "aged-up Fireheart" AUs, so hopefully he is cool, and hopefully Sandstorm will give him a hard time because I can imagine Fires as this really good fighter that likes to look cool but also is kind of a huge dork and she relishes in the fact he's not "perfect" like daddy is.
It will probably be more Sandstorm & Fireheart rather than Sandstorm x Fireheart.
He is Tigerclaw's eldest kid and Goldenflower is not his mom, so him and Swiftpaw are more step-siblings. His mom is unknown by anyone in the clan except Tigerclaw. She was might be a kittypet. Don't speculate on that while Tiger is around.
I could write a whole nother post about him and Tigerclaw's relationship. But to put it in a nutshell, Tiger's hard on him for a multitude of reasons. The conscious part of it is Fireheart's other half of parentage, the subconscious part is his resemblance to Pinestar.
As for his relationship with Tigerclaw, well... It wasn't bad, at first, Fireheart thinks. Tigerclaw is hard on him, but he's not cruel. Affection tends to be more of a reward than a given. But Tigerclaw is fairly quick to boast about his son's skills to the clan. He gets a lot of extra training from Tigerclaw when not training with Bluestar all of which quickly makes him the best fighter out of the apprentices, which gets rid of most of the rumors surrounding Fireheart's parentage. So it's all in his best interest clearly. His dad just wants what's best, right? It's not until Bramble and Tawny are born that he notices the stark differences in how Tigerclaw treats them.
Swiftpaw adores him. He knows him as his kickass older brother. And since Longtail is close to Tigerclaw and wants to stay in his good graces there's not really anything to influence Swiftpaw otherwise. Fireheart loves him right back and tries to be a good influence.
He's cool to an outside observer, being the most skilled out of the apprentices due to the extra training and being Tigerclaw's son. But he's insecure and a people pleaser. He's also a massive dork when you really get to know him. No he's not evil.
Him and Sandstorm hated each other through most of their apprenticeship. He's not a bully, but he hangs around her bullies and though he doesn't join in, he won't defend her either. So she's bitter towards him. Sandpaw can't beat him in a fight, but she does leave him in the dust with hunting, which upsets Tigerclaw, which makes Fire a bit bitter. Tiger did not spend his time getting rid of the kittypet rumors surrounding his son just to have him get shown up by a kittypet. They get better eventually though. I honestly see them as platonic, but in a way that can easily be read as romantic.
Sandstorm has ulterior motives for befriending him, but yeah eventually she comes to love his dorky self and finds someone she can relax around. He also likes her for being someone he doesn't have to put on a show for constantly.

Hi, anon who previously sent a long ask mentioning adderfang&thistlestar's mentor-apprentice back here! What you said about Adderfang's reaction to spottedpaw's pregnancy (the idea that he was upset his Precious Baby Daughter was exploited by an older warrior) got me thinking about Willowpelt! Specifically, we know Adderfang didn't react so strongly to learning she was pregnant, even though she had darkkit before spottedpaw had the firesibs. if i recall correctly, Adder&Swift's reaction to willowpelt being such a young mother was never shown in FT, or never explored very closely... What was that moment like? Were they angry, did they worry Willowpelt had been hurt, or were they happy to be getting more grandkits? How did their reaction make Willowpelt feel?
Additionally, since Adderfang made a way bigger stink towards Spottedpaw's situation than he did toward Willowpelt's, did that have any affect on willowpelt? I presume, Adderfang probably thought Darkstripe's father was another one of the apprentices which is why he didn't seem TOO upset, and Willowpelt never wanted to "tarnish" Tawnyspots' legacy by revealing him preying on her. But I imagine Willowpelt seeing Adderfang throw such a big fuss (and rightfully so, of course, him threatening to flay thistle alive in FT is one of my fave scenes lol. so satisfying) over spottedpaw being pregnant might have made Willowpelt feel strange. Did it cause her to feel like her dad didn't care as much about her? She and spottedleaf have a very good relationship, especially as older adults, but I can imagine when she was so young and dealing with how drastically and unexpectedly her life had changed she could have harbored some more complicated feelings. Was she jealous that Spottedleaf was getting more attention from their parents? if so, did she feel guilty about that jealousy, knowing how terrible it is to be in spottedleaf's situation? do you think spottedleaf and willowpelt ever talked out these feelings?
Sorry for another long message haha, the way the story unfolds in your fic is so interesting I just think about it all the time, it's made me really like spottedleaf and willowpelt way more than i did before reading it, youve developed them into such complex characters!! Thanks again for taking the time to read my message!!
Adderfang and most everyone else didn't question Willowpelt's pregnancy because she had her warrior name! To them, warriorhood means you are an adult, but that's not necessarily the truth, considering Willowpelt technically did get pregnant when she was an apprentice (it's just that no one really connected the dots there, except for those like Featherwhisker and Spottedpaw and such. Most assumed she just gave birth early, which is a far assumption especially considering most of her kits died/were sickly), plus she was still under 12 moons (typical warrior age) when pregnant/giving birth. Adderfang and Swiftbreeze were both a little concerned that she was so young, but it really boiled down to "well, she's a warrior, she can have kits now if she wants I suppose," and they lacked the experience or knowledge to argue against that. It's just ingrained tradition and culture for them.
Most assumed the father was Whitestorm or maybe possibly Tigerclaw, but most of the clan knew Whitestorm had a crush on Willowpelt (though others argued that he and Brindleface would become mates since they were best/close friends), so they assumed it was him, and that Willowpelt either rejected him or Whitestorm didn't want to help raise the kits. Just ask Frostfur what the rumor mill was at the time and she'll fill you in on all a hundred possibilities lol
Willowpelt definitely had... feelings seeing Adderfang get so protective over Spottedpaw when the truth came out. She often wondered if Adderfang would have had the same reaction if she had told him that Tawnyspots did the same thing to her. But, guilt kept her mouth shut. She felt like it didn't matter since Tawnyspots was dead anyways now. Plus, wouldn't it just seem like she wanted the attention? She didn't want attention, she just wanted to stay quiet. So she did. But it still ate her up and unknowingly strained her relationship with her parents, because she felt like she couldn't be protected by them like Spottedpaw was. If Adderfang ever knew though, you bet he would have charged straight into StarClan itself just to beat Tawnyspots up for touching his daughter like that.
Spottedleaf and Willowpelt did confide in each other! They were about the only ones who told each other all their secrets and hidden feelings, THOUGH Willowpelt DID keep more of the details to herself. She felt like "Spottedleaf had it worse" and that she just needed to be a supportive sister. But they did talk about it.
(Though I can tell you the exact opposite happens in Reflamed)
No worries about the long message! We love answering questions!!

Okay okay okay so I don't often talk about Warrior Cats but I just had an AU idea centred around LongFire that i'm just gonna infordump here
The Prophecies Begin starts the same, where Longtail attacks Rusty and is initially hostile toward him. He saves him from the river as usual but instead of their dynamic being ignored they start having a mutual respect for one another after Tigerclaw is exiled, and Fireheart actually sees that Longtail is loyal to the clan instead of Tigerclaw.
Swiftpaw dies, and Fireheart comforts Longtail, something we don't really see onscreen in the books. It's then that they actually start being friends, and Longtail's predjudice against kittypets gets resolved, and Firestar even takes him to visit Princess at one point, and Longtail becomes friendly with Cloudtail. So it's not like a "oh he still is a kittypet xenophobe but Firestar is his only exception" kinda thing.
Then the battle with Scourge happens, Whitestorm dies, and instead of Graystripe being deputy (i still don't think he deserved it >:/) Firestar makes Longtail deputy; I think this would have worked narritavely really well in the books, as it shows development in Longtail's character and because Warriors isn't big on redemptions (they only said on Longtail 'oh he was good all along just misunderstood lolsies') so I want Longboi to become a good person D:
Then Longtail gets blinded by the rabbit as normal, but he still remains deputy and finds a way to live blind like Jayfeather did, because fuck abelism in these books and the fact that Longtail had to retire early because of his disability!!
Then this is up for your interpretation, but I like to think Firestar and Longtail fall for each other in the end,, idk i love me a good well written rivals to lovers :D and Sandstorm is the surrogate mother and Squilf and Leaf happen (i just think in this timeline it would be cute for Longfire to happen, but in the current timeline when they were still kinda on ehhh terms? yeah, not cute!)
And Longtail doesn't get crushed by a tree, he lives until the Great Battle when Firestar dies, and he becomes Longstar with Squirrelflight as deputy! :D which tbh, he would make a much better leader than Brambleshit will ever be
don't flame me for this idea, it's just one of my favorite AU's completely built off of canon complaint and missed potential for Longtail's character and his relationship with Firestar

Fire and Ice - Chapter 43
Chapter 42 || Index || Chapter 44
It wasn't long until they heard rustling in the undergrowth nearby. "This way! I smell blood!" It was Sandstorm. Firepaw grit his teeth at the yowl. Sandstorm wasn't the most understanding cat in the Clan, as his first encounter with her had proved. Still, he patiently waited.
Soon the patrol emerged, headed first by Sandstorm and then shortly after by Whitestorm. Whitestorm! He was easily the most level-headed cat in the Clan. If there was any cat that would listen to reason, it would be him. Behind him was Tinyfrost, Peppermask, and Lionheart; those that were the least injured in battle, he assumed. They were good for him, though. All would listen to reason, except Sandstorm, and even she could be convinced by her former mentor.
She studied the ground carefully. "There's a little here. Not much, though. No more than a cut." She paused and sniffed at the air. "Then…" She frowned and sniffed again. "That's strange. I smell-"
""Thunderclan." Firepaw chose that moment to step out, the Thunderclan patrol bristling angrily as he did so. He gestured for Graypaw to join him. "You smelled us."
"Firepaw? Graypaw?" Whitestorm stepped forward protectively. "What in Starclan's name are you doing here?"
"Bluestar sent us!" He spoke quickly, glancing at his friend. "She sent us to get help from the Shadowclan elders. Yellowfang was already there, making sure they were okay."
"I see!" The large white warrior mewed, his yellow eyes shining brightly. "Now I understand why Bluestar told us we might find a friend out here. So they're nearby?"
"They are." The apprentice purred with a dip of his head. "They've promised to help us get Goldenflower's kits back at any cost."
"That's good to hear." The lead warrior looked around curiously. "I don't see where they could be hiding, though. Can they hear us?"
"Of course we can." Yellowfang rasped as she emerged from the peat they had been hiding in. "We're Shadowclan, you know. You're not supposed to see us… until it's too late." She gave the Thunderclanners a toothy grin as she spoke, exposing her broken fangs. As she did so, the other Shadowclan elders descended from the trees.
"I should have guessed." Whitestorm admitted with a dip of his head. "Very well, then. What do you know? How should we attack?"
Nightpelt stepped forward, his dark fur largely untouched by the rain. "Brokenstar will know you are coming. He'll be expecting it. Likely, he's fortified his position within our camp."
"And the kits?"
"That we're unsure of." He admitted, glancing off over the marshy territory. "We think it most likely several of the queens and warriors have been assigned to watch over them. There will be no sneaking them away."
"And the queens allow this?" Whitestorm narrowed his eyes. "Surely they know how Goldenflower and Frostfur are suffering without their kits by their side."
The Shadowclanners shifted uncomfortably. "They do as Brokenstar orders. They have to, if they want to protect their own kits."
Peppermask snarled behind them. "That's sick. What kind of leader threatens kits to get his way?"
"A tyrant." Whitestorm replied, returning his gaze to Nightpelt. "So, sneaking in won't be an option. Neither will a full-out assault, from the sound of it." He considered their options thoughtfully. "What are your thoughts, then?"
"Brokenstar did not technically exile all of us." Cinderscar spoke up from behind his brother. "Only Yellowfang, Archtail, and Crowtalon. The rest of us were merely banished from camp, sent to catch our own prey and take care of ourselves rather than waste valuable resources."
"I see." Firepaw perked his ears forward curiously as the older toms spoke. "I sense you plan to use this somehow."
"We will pretend that we have captured Yellowfang." They all looked to the grumpy old healer, who looked less than amused with this plan. Still, she nodded, giving her approval to it. "We will announce that we have done so to prove that we are still loyal to Brokenstar, and that we can still be a part of his new, stronger Shadowclan."
"His ego knows no limits." Nightpelt added quickly. "He may even believe us. At the very least, he will come to claim his prize. Then we will strike and trap him. His warriors will defend him, but that is where you all come in."
"And what of his warriors?" Whitestorm asked with a frown. "We are strong, especially with these apprentices, but Shadowclan is stronger. How can we hope to beat them?"
"You will not meet as much resistance as you think." Yellowfang growled. "Many are still loyal to the code, and despise what Brokenstar is doing. They miss the old days of Raggedstar. Back when Shadowclan was feared for its cunning, not its depravity."
The large tom nodded sadly. "Those days were not so long ago. There is still a chance for them to return."
"That is why we seek your help." Nightpelt replied. "You will get your kits back, and we will get our Clan - our lives - back."
"Let's get going then." Sandstorm snapped impatiently. "The longer we wait, the more time they get to recover."
"Hmm. Impatient. I like her." Yellowfang grunted. "Come. We will take you to the Shadowclan camp."
The patrol traveled quickly, especially with the Shadowclanners leading the way. Firepaw was glad he didn't have to guess his way across the territory; it was obvious each Shadowclanner knew the land as well as their own paws. It wasn't long before they slowed to a walk in a purely pine forested region.
"Our camp is there." Yellowfang hissed at them, pointing out a cluster of fallen trees surrounded by a messy thorn thicket. "Hide in the peat patch over there until you hear battle cries. It will disguise your scent."
They all crowded in and waited. It was a little small, especially when all but Tinyfrost were warrior sized, but they did their best to hide despite it.
"What if this is a trap?" Sandstorm hissed to her mentor. "They could be telling Brokenstar about the seven Thunderclanners just waiting to be attacked right outside their camp. What if they've been spying on us all along?"
"Spying on what? Tallpines?" Firepaw retorted, keeping his voice soft and quiet so it wouldn't carry into camp. "Only Yellowfang has seen any of our camp, and it wasn't by her choice."
"Hush." Whitestorm growled at both of them, keeping his eyes on the hollow entrance. The two ginger cats glared at each other, their eyes burning green, but they did as he asked.
Then wails erupted in camp, and they all sprang out of the bushes. They all scrambled through the tree hollow entrance, emerging in a clearing surrounded by thorn bushes not unlike Thunderclan's own camp. In the center were the elders, being pulled off of Brokenstar by large, vicious warriors that he recognized. All of them had been involved in both assaults on the Thunderclan camp.
Yet around the edges he also saw scrawny toms and several queens huddled against the thorns, eyes wide as they stared at the sudden intruders to their camp. He recognized a couple of them as having been part of the hunting patrol on Thunderclan territory, the ones that had vanished into thin air. All of them were unmoving as they watched, as though hoping they would be ignored if they sat still enough.
He would never have imagined such a pathetic-looking Clan, from Shadowclan's recent displays of strength. It seemed as though the Clan was separated into two halves; those loyal to Brokenstar, that did whatever he asked and got whatever they wanted, and those that suffered under the cold, unyielding might of the tabby tyrant.
Firepaw leaped at a thick-furred dark tom that was wrestling with Poolcloud, digging his claws into the tangled and matted fur. It wasn't until he bit down that he tore into the flesh, causing the rogue below him to screech in pain. He dragged his head back and forth, relishing the taste of blood before he finally let go.
The tom whirled around, fur bristling angrily. He leaped towards Firepaw. He didn't get the chance to retaliate, however, as Graypaw slammed into him from another side. "Get out!" The other apprentice spat, digging in with his claws and chomping into the tom's shoulder. He yowled in agony, taking off for the entrance before either apprentice could stop him.
Graypaw nodded quickly to Firepaw before leaping back into the fray to help his sister tangling with a brown tabby. Just as he was about to follow, he felt something small slam into his side.
It was a kitten, about four months old and easily half his size. The dappled gray kit was puffed out, spitting angrily at him as it lashed out with claws that were far too small to do any real damage to his thick fur. "I'm sorry, little one." He murmured, sheathing his claws and batting it away gently. "Try again at the Gathering in a few moons."
The kitten stumbled back, evidently shocked by the strength behind his relatively gentle swing. It glanced around, and after a moment backed away into a group of mollies - queens, if he had to guess.
He looked around. Whitestorm was wrestling with Spiderfoot, the two toms nearly an even match in size and strength. Lionheart and Sandstorm were teaming up against a brown tabby that was missing his tail.
His eyes narrowed as he spotted Tinyfrost facing off against a large, brown tom covered in scars. Clawface, he remembered, from the first Shadowclan attack. He had nearly killed Firepaw and Sandstorm then. If what Yellowfang said was true, he had attacked Dewpaw and killed Spottedleaf. His ears flattened as he watched his mentor dodge out of the way of a heavy paw-slam. Now was his chance to get revenge.
Blood pounded in his ears as he leaped onto the tom's back. He dug his claws in as far as he could, his lip curling in a smile as the rogue below him screeched in pain. He reached out to bite into his spine, fangs bared, but before he could do so Tinyfrost slammed into the killer's side, knocking Firepaw off.
When he got up, Clawface had fled into the bushes and his mentor was watching him. "Warriors do not need to kill." The black tom warned his apprentice before darting off into the fray once more.
An angry scream rang out over camp. On the far side, Yellowfang had pinned Brokenstar down. This time, however, there were no loyal rogues to pull her off. Her broken fangs were bared in a snarl as she glared down at her former leader. Thunderclanners and Shadowclanners alike began to circle her as Brokenstar tried to free himself from her powerful grasp.
"I never thought you would be harder to kill than my father!" The dark, matted tom growled up at the healer with a vicious grin.
She recoiled as though a snake had bitten her. "You killed Raggedstar?" She yowled in shock.
"You found his body. Didn't you recognize my fur between his claws?" Brokenstar rolled onto his side and stood up, starting to circle her. She stared in horror as he did. "He was soft and weak. A foolish leader. He needed to die."
"You!" Yellowfang cried, backing up as he spoke. Then, regaining her senses, she arched her back and bristled her dark gray fur. "And what of Dawncloud's kits? Did they deserve to die too?"
"Those kits were weak." Brokenstar spat at her. "They would have died anyway. They were of no use to Shadowclan."
A light tabby queen wailed as he spoke, and Firepaw's heart lurched. How could any cat say that, let alone about kits? No wonder he had discarded Volepaw so easily.
"I should have killed you when I had the chance." He snarled at Yellowfang. "I must have some of my father's softness after all. I was a fool to let you leave Shadowclan alive!" He lunged with his teeth bared towards her, ready to sink his claws into the healer.
The dark gray molly was frozen in place. Gone was her desire to fight, taken by the horrible revelations of the depths of depravity her former leader was willing to go to. She didn't even blink as the matted tabby closed the distance between them. Someone had to help her.
Firepaw moved first, leaping forward to slam into the leader. The tabby landed heavily on his side, not expecting the intervention of another cat. As he scrambled to stand, he growled at the ginger apprentice. "Don't waste my time, apprentice. I have nine lives! Do you really think you can take all of them from me?"
He shook his head in disbelief. He knew some older cats liked to use that saying, but surely this mangy rogue didn't believe in it? "I'm willing to bet you've already wasted eight of them." He snarled back, bushing up and staring him down.
For a moment, it seemed like Brokenstar was actually going to fight him, but then he took in his surroundings. His loyal code-breaking warriors had broken ranks and fled. Now all that remained were furious Thunderclanners and mistreated Shadowclanners, bent on getting revenge. "This isn't over." He spat at all of them, before finally backing away and vanishing into the bushes.
There was silence for several long moments. "What now? Do we go after them?" Firepaw asked, looking to Yellowfang or Whitestorm for answers.
"Let them run." Nightpelt stepped forward, his eyes dark as he gazed across his old camp, ruined by the battle. "They know they are not welcome here. And if they dare to come back, Shadowclan will be ready to face them."
He looked over the Shadowclanners. They were almost skeletal, as though they hadn't eaten in moons. Around camp, the stench of crowfood hit him. He remembered what Featherstorm had said; Spiderfoot hadn't bothered to teach his apprentice any hunting techniques. The Clan had always been at war, with no time for hunting or caring for each other. Perhaps they really hadn't eaten in moons, a thought that made his own stomach churn.
"The kits!" His head snapped up as he heard Graypaw's cry. From what he gathered was the nursery, five kits rushed out, crowding around the dark gray tabby. All of the Thunderclanners padded over to look at them.
"Thank Starclan they're alright." Peppermask purred, nosing over each of them. They gazed up at the Thunderclan patrol with wide eyes that were beginning to change color.  "But Cedarkit has a bad scratch on his shoulder. That must have been what Sandstorm smelled when we were coming here. It's not been treated, either."
He sniffed at the group, finding the tom she was talking about, a small dark ginger kit that was colored a bit similarly to him. "Do you think he can wait until we get to Dewpaw, or-"
"Let me see." Firepaw moved back as Yellowfang shouldered her way through. She peered at it for a few moments before looking over her shoulder. "Wetnose! Marigold and cobwebs!"
As if on cue, a small gray tom limped up, his white paw covered in cobwebs and several golden flowers dangling from his mouth. He dropped them respectfully in front of her, allowing her to apply them before smoothing over the wound with several layers of cobwebs.
"He'll be alright for the return journey. I'll treat him better when we're back at camp." Yellowfang's voice was hollow. Even though she was talking to them, he could tell her mind was still focused on what Brokenstar had said.
"Back at camp?" Firepaw questioned. "You're not staying here?"
The healer gazed out over her birthplace. "A season ago, I would have." She admitted. "But I cannot stay. Not after everything that has happened." She let out a bitter sigh as she turned her attention back to the kits. "Besides, Thunderclan has no healer now. Someone will need to train Dewpaw."
Whitestorm nodded. "Thunderclan will be glad to have you." He purred to the old molly. "I'm sure Bluestar will have no problem with it."
Nightpelt approached the Thunderclan crowd. "You have helped Shadowclan in their darkest time, and for that we are grateful. Brokentail and his rogues will never darken the territories of the other Clans again." He dipped his head respectfully to each of them, even the apprentices. "But it is time you returned your kits home. I promise that your hunting grounds will be free of Shadowclan, so long as we can find food in our own territory."
"Thank you, Nightpelt." Whitestorm stepped forward, his voice warm as he spoke. "Hunt in peace for one moon. Thunderclan knows you need time to rebuild after Brokentail's savage attacks."
Firepaw didn't miss the significance of the exchange. It seemed they had rejected the leader and his connection with Starclan. He couldn't blame them, after all Brokentail had done.
With a sweep of his tail, Whitestorm signaled the patrol to leave. Each picked up a kit, except for Firepaw, Yellowfang and Whitestorm, and began the long journey back to camp. At last, it seemed there would be peace in the forest, at least for a short while.

TPB ThunderClan character preferences headcanons
In general I hc every character to be bi, because that's me (and it opens up plenty of possibilities that don't conflict with the actual canon). But some cats with more specific preferences include:
Firestar: Prefers toms. Has probably had at least one fling with nearly every tom in ThunderClan by the time they move territories. Sandstorm considers it a big W to have gotten with him, considering this.
Graystripe: Prefers she-cats, except for Firestar, who is his favorite. Graystipe is disaster bi and so are his son (Stormfur) and grandson (Feather of Flying Hawk). Graystripe is just generally down.
Ravenpaw: Precious little gay cat. Had an awkward apprentice crush on Tigerclaw until he was clearly a villain. Then had it down bad for Firepaw until he lived happily ever after with Barley.
Tigerclaw: All of his relationships are transactional. I do like the AU idea where he's so taken with Fireheart's genuineness that he falls for him though.
Whitestorm: The clan's gay uncle. For romance it's all toms, but he's had kits with his she-cat besties. He knows all the gossip about who's into who.
Lionheart: The straightest man in the clan, much to Whitestorm's consternation.
Darkstripe: Do I need to say it?
Longtail: The coolest bisexual in ThunderClan. All the cats I specifically ship him with prior to his retirement are toms (hello LongFire) but I just know in my heart that he is the most true-neutral bisexual in camp.
Mousefur: She identified as a lesbian for all of her warrior life (and imo had a big crush on Bluestar) but in retirement she found herself kissing some toms (Longtail/Mousefur cuddle time forever)
Bluestar: Unless they're from RiverClan, she's all about the she-cats.
Dustpelt: "Straight." Yeah okay buddy, I'm sure it definitely just took you and Brackenfur 5 hours to gather sticks to fix the den.
Brackenfur: It would be shorter to list all the cats that Brackenfur did NOT have a crush on at some point.
Sandstorm: I get demi vibes honestly. She just really genuinely likes Firestar (and she's 100% cool with him having tom partners!).
Frostfur, Brindleface, and Goldenflower: They're like career moms? I don't generally think of them as being especially romantically attached to the fathers of their kits, it's more like they were just the toms who helped them with their work. They've got throuple energy.
Cloudtail & Brightheart: They're so almost a monogamous straight couple, but I feel like they like to pull in a tom as a third sometimes.
Thornclaw: Patrols.

Did another wc design challenge! This time the white cats with blue eyes except I swapped out two cats and added Whitetail bc I love her <3
I feel like rambling on the cats so that’s under the cut for those who want to read my little design ideas and au lol (warning very long esp on mobile. My bad)
For the easier one at the top right is Icewing, current cat in ASC and also a former dark forest trainee who watched her son Beetlewhisker be killed by Brokenstar. Her design is one I’ve had in my brain for awhile and it is based off Swan Lake, with the idea of a white and black swan. Her fluffy belly is meant to sorta read as a tutu and her patches as feathers. I gave her purple eyes too bc it’s a mix of red and blue, which often are the colors for evil vs good. I have so many thoughts on her. Where’s my Icewing novella. Plz authors give us a Icewing’s Nest book (Nest bc her motherhood and in the idea of how swans get over their chicks, only for her own to die in a place she encouraged him to go. It’s also a unique name for a novella)
Now onto the bottom left. With my beloved Snowstorm (Snowfur) and her daughter, Froststorm (Whitestorm/Frostfur). Yes I know Snow didn’t live to see her kit this big but also canon Frosty isn’t transfem so just let it be alright? Transfem Whitestorm is something I thought of in a now scrapped rewrite that I cannot unravel from my brain. And I wanted to draw her momma bc she’s been a favorite of mine forever. Snowstorm has a few blue spots bc I wanted to blue from her father to show in atleast one of the sisters (since I made Blue albino) and I can imagine how she feels about her name. It fits. It’s suiting for her personality and ambitious nature. But it’s her father’s prefix, the one who never even visited them as kits, neglected her momma, left them for a cat just barely older then her- yet in her own self conscious way she can’t help but see himself in her, that same ugly storm of anger brewing in her belly that lead him to his death. In my warrior cats universe Snowstorm doesn’t die and is a spicy elder in TPB who, after his daughter talks to her, becomes a advisor to the young Fireheart. She would be pretty snippy and very much xenophobic to him at the start and probably until Tigerclaw is exiled before she starts realizing how his heart is in the clan, where he came from doesn’t matter, and what he brings to the clans culture. She was the mate of Thistleclaw for the stars sake! And despite how they’re relationship was passionate and aggressive and doomed from the start, the cat he created in that bloodthirsty monster is clear. His ways of thinking were tangled in Tigerclaw’s mind like they were in hers. How had she let him do so much damage? So she turns around. Starts growing. Tears the thorns from her pelt at last.
(Tw for a few transphobic ideas that Froststorm had placed in her by Thistleclaw)
And Froststorm- she was originally Milkkit (after the milk thistle, her dad insisted on her having a name that related to him) but after her mom is out in a coma for her first 9 moons of life she is almost entirely groomed to be her father’s son. But it didn’t feel right. She felt wrong every time he told her what to be. Not only because she had no say at all against her father but because being that warrior meant being… a tom. She wouldn’t come out till after her father died, around half a year after her being named. After her mom finally woke up by some Starclan miracle. She was weak but the cat his father had told her she was wasn’t who woke up. She was a blizzard in a cats body- powerful, swift, covering, but cool and once calmed down soft as a fresh layer of snow. The moment she opened her eyes and saw her how much her small kitten had grown she wouldn’t let go. Thistleclaw was oddly angry when she awoke. He felt the control he and over his kit slip away as she came in a plucked what he’d placed in her pelt. The two would fight. And they could never agree. It was upsetting, especially when Thistle would come to her and tell her how her mother was a stupid, selfish molly who couldn’t hold her tongue. Things he once loved about her were now faults all because they didn’t align with his view. But it also showed her that she could stand up against him. She finally went outside her direct circle and talked to a cat her dad fell out with, her aunt Rosetail. She wasn’t ever allowed to speak to her when her dad was around. He told her she was a confused tom, that she went around with soft bellies, and that she spit on starclan’s place for her. But she was nice, and kind, and so sweet it made her stomach twist. Milkpaw asked her what her father had meant by her being a “molly minded tom”- and she learned something that would change her life forever. Rosetail was originally a tom but found she was a molly at heart. Through herbs and training she was able to change what she was, transitioning. That word made her heart twist so suddenly it made her vision swim, like the stars themselves told her this was it. Her aunt wasn’t going against them, she was just righting what she was meant to be. To her aunt who she had only now gotten to talk to, she came out, and crying there wrapped in Rosetail’s hug felt like the best she had ever felt.
The day of her ceremony to be made a warrior she asked her other aunt Bluestar if maybe she could be renamed… not coming out officially to the whole clan but starting the steps to eventually. Then there at the event she was named Froststorm. Bluestar told everyone it was Starclan’s decree for her to be Frost instead and then added -storm after both her sister, being Frost’s mom, but also for the force she and become. She wasn’t a destructive one but one that would bring great rain, wash away the sick and bring in the spring, and fuel the future. Her father though would blow up, partly publicly and then far worse in private. His sudden loss of control would end with him attacking a peaceful Riverclan patrol that was just coming to discuss an agreement between the warring clans, leading in him being drowned by the enemy warrior. At last with him gone Froststorm comes out as trans. Some are happy for her, others less supportive, some a little hostile. But that didn’t matter at all to her because her family loved her as her.
Anyways transfem Whitestorm is my favorite thing ever I love her so so much <3 she would be partners with Lionheart, and with a dame, they have Cinder, Bracken, Bright, and Thorn. Though I think in this au they’d be Cinder, Bracken, Bright, and Dandelion (cuz no way in the dark forest would she name one of her kits anything CLOSE to Thistle. Nope. Also Dandelionclaw is so long it’s funny I think it’s cute). The Sorrel, Soot, Silt (Rain) litter would instead be kits of Speckletail and some sire (she wouldn’t go outside the clans. Just can’t decided and they wouldn’t be a part of the kits lives).

thinking about a "we both reached for the gun" animatic with ashfur, squirrelflight, brambleclaw and hawkfrost...
ashfur and hawkfrost start dating during the journey to the lake and start scheming immediately. they plan to get rid of leopardstar and firestar so they can form tigerclan again (ashfur is all fucked up since bone killed whitestorm and his mother died) but hawkfrost is insistent on getting brambleclaw to join them because of their df training (ashfur doesnt know about this). hawkfrost gets killed by brambleclaw same as canon and ashfur sees, growing vengeful towards brambleclaw. upon seeing him grow closer to squirrelflight after what he did to his mate makes ashfur grow angry and kill him. he confesses and is ultimately excused because of him claiming it was self defence because brambleclaw "attacked him for being in a half-clan relationship". leafpool gives birth and squirrelflight pretends that they are hers and brambleclaws from before he died and ashfur is furious, seeing her as an obstacle to becoming leader of thunderclan. he becomes lionpaws mentor and manipulates him into believing his "father" was a bad and cowardly cat instead of the martyr everyone pretends him to be. he gets him into the df where him and hawkfrost are reunited and lionpaw becomes more bloodthirsty. he comes up with a plan to get rid of both squirrelflight and firestar and tells lionblaze about it, to which he agrees (he knows who his true parents are). the two start a fire with the help of the df and trap his family. upon seeing that ashfur is responsible, jayfeather and hollyleaf attempt to fight him but they are attacked by lionblaze. devestated by her kits infighting, squirrelflight turns around and murders ashfur, gouging out his eyes as he burns in the fire. moments later, firestar and leafpool help the family out and lionblaze is exiled. ash still gets into starclan somehow and sees brambleclaws ghost and squirrelflight kill hawkfrost a second time and manages to kill bramble. squirrelflight becomes squirrelstar after firestars death and chases the tom to the dark forest. everything continues as normal except ashfur is downright evil, hopping from leader to leader in an attempt to turn the clans in on eachother (tigerheartstar and mistystar are killed) before squirrelstar sacrifices herself to kill him once and for all. the next leaders are snowstar, reedstar and twigstar.
ill clean this up later :)

WARRIOR CATS WOKE AU
Welcome to my Warriors Woke AU! I'm on mobile and cant add cuts without annoying text things, so suffer. But if there is a cut, I added one, so, more info below the cut.
All cats are queer. The exception for this is kits, and apprentices vary from questioning to their identities, depending on how old and how confident they are in their identities. Some characters are also genderqueer and polyamorous, but not all of them.
Instead of leaders receiving the name (prefix)star, leaders now receive lord/lady/liege (name) because I thought it was funny and ended up keeping the concept.
Some family trees have been entirely reworked and names changed to better fit the story. This obviously goes for plot points as well.
I'm starting with the first arc, but I'll start adding more as I please.
There's an additional rank (that i forgot to add in my allegiances but its fine) called the Deliverer, where 2-3 run between clans in the event of an emergency. This has been tacked on the warrior rank, as deliverers still participate in normal warrior activities outside of this.
Medicine cats can have mates and kits, but cross-clan relationships are still forbidden. (However, this will change a lot sooner in my AU, and cross-clan relationships will become a lot less obnoxious and annoying.)
Naming a cat after their disability is greatly frowned upon.
This is MY AU and I can do as I please with it.
Important changes that aren't central and that I currently remember
Smudge and Rusty are littermates and foils. Smudge will later become Scourge and will have his own arc.
Princess doesn't exist, and Cloudtail (Cloudfeather in my AU) comes later and is the kit of Ravenpaw and Barley.
Redtail and Runningwind are Sandstorm's dads, and her feeling about their deaths, resentment against Tigerclaw for them, and her original distaste of Firepaw will be explored.
Mosskit survives, kind of. Thistleclaw's more of an emo asshole and Bluestar (Blizzardfur) is more self aware. Mistyfoot (Mistysplash) and Stonefur (Slipwhisker) join RiverClan on their own accord after being told about Oakheart (Oakleap), but Mosskit (Mossflower) stays. She grows up, becomes a warrior, but does pass away before the events of Into The Wild for Blizzardfur characterization reasons.
The stupid mate Whitestorm retcon has been fixed by just making him poly.
Clan cultures will be more distinct, and the forest territory is here to stay in order for me to explore that fully.

Note
let's hear the tea about your new oc!!!!!!!!!!!
okay SO his name is Whitestorm and he is four (almost five) years old and this is a Big Deal because he’s a genetic hybrid with human and alien eldritch genes used to fight back against a world that’s trying to be actively terraformed by said eldritch entities, and the mortality rate for Strays (as the hybrids are called) is super high! So being four years old means he’s been lucky and efficient at keeping himself alive!
He has the ability to generate hurricane-like conditions and high storm force winds, and acts as an offensive AOE unit when in combat. He’s the de facto leader of his Cluster, the group of Strays he lives and works with, and he’s the newest addition to my Gentle Tender Men™️ club. He’s six foot two and his scars have a silver sheen and he predominantly wears sweatshirts and sweaters for coziness. His eyes are pale and change color without thought, though they’re always very light watered down hues, and he has what I affectionately refer to as pie chart hair, which is all black except for a decent white streak at his left temple.
He’s obliviously falling for one of his Clustermates, their healer Sunai, and I adore him for it.

wait a sec, if bluefur and rosetail are cousins in your rewrite, does that mean snowfur and thistleclaw..?
Ick! No! Thistleclaw and Snowfur are unrelated; their son Whitestorm is the cousin of Redtail and Spottedleaf, through Rosetail. Rosetail, Thistleclaw, and Sweetpaw are littermates.
I will never allow a pairing between first cousins, cats who share a first-degree grandparent. Cats only become eligible after FOUR generations-- a great-grandparent. The exception being if there is two grandparents alive to remember it. Three Strict Rules + the Onestar's Exception. Here are my other guidelines.
I made a picture for you to see my current reworks! I said to myself, "I'll just draw out the relevant cats" and then accidentally ended up making Draft 2 of my ThunderClan Family Tree lmao. Here are all the cats relevant to Bluestar's Prophecy
Tumblr media
NOTES:
-I didn't include every kit who died young, just the noteworthy ones
-Tawnyspots is now the FATHER of Thrushpelt and Dappletail, not their brother. It bothered me that Tawnyspots was retconned to be younger in Bluestar's Prophecy, he will now be an older, wise deputy.
-Brindleface has been moved to Halftail and One-eye's family
-Rainfur and Shinecloud were related somehow. Something felt right about it.
-Robinwing is now a sister of Featherwhisker and Sunstar, from a younger litter. I imagine the others of her litter died in the Great Hunger.
-Frostfur is raised by Weedwhisker and Stonepelt, two old grandpas, literally just because the ship name is Stoneweed and I'm VERY mature. She is a forbidden child of Featherwhisker and a kittypet; Spottedleaf gets her open disregard for rules from her mentor.
-One-eye and Speckletail are no longer sisters. That was a retcon that bothered me because One-eye was the oldest cat in ThunderClan in TPB, so I nixed it.
-Speckletail is now Dappletail and Thrushpelt's sister, though I wouldn't mind moving her again.
-The biodad is probably Smallear but he didn't raise or acknowledge his kits; an honor-siring, if anything.
-Leopardfoot's kits are also an honor-siring, but Pinestar did plan to be involved in their lives before The Things happened.
-Willowpelt is now Tigerclaw's aunt, but younger than her. I am not against giving her to Patchpelt and another molly, making her Tigerclaw's cousin.
