Because of my peripheral neuropathy, the signals from my hands are generally classified as sketchy at best (is this damp or cold? no idea). I also do a lot of home repairs myself (because poverty's a bitch) and I've noticed that I specifically never notice splinters. So after I've been working with wood, I generally make sure to check visually.

Today I forgot until an hour ago when I looked down and saw one. Once I started to examine my hands properly and dig each one out, I ended up finding over twenty, mostly on my left hand. Two of which were on the pad of my thumb and really deep, and one of those was a bleeder.

So now instead of a ton of tiny pieces of old gross wood in my semi-numb hands, I have hands covered in small but clean cuts which itch like the goddamned devil. I call that a lose-lose.
