If I had a nickel for every time I fell in love with a queer, fictionalized depiction of a real-life 18th century thief played by a washed-up, middle-aged comedian in leather pants, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

So I went to an early screening for the first two episodes of the Percy Jackson show yesterday (Saturday), and let me just say, it is 100% the adaptation we deserve. It was amazing. Once it ended, I wanted more.
The characterizations were amazing, any changes there were made sense and made the situation more realistic and added tension, the story was straight from the book, it was just amazing.
I went with my mom and she, who doesn't know the books, really enjoyed it. I asked her how she liked it (literary just the first two episodes) compared to Harry Potter (which i had her watch a few years back), and she said there was no contest. She likes the pjo show much more. She said it was engaging and even had her wanting the next episode once it was done.
Everyone needs to watch this show. It was amazing. It lives up to the hype. We need to make sure it gets greenlit for season 2.

That Cucurucho vs Bad/Forever/Cell/Etoiles interaction is probably one of my top favorites on the qsmp so far. It was so freaking cool and everyone had this epic "don't mess with me or you'll regret it" attitude I was at the edge of my seat
Cucurucho arriving to merely observe but then having the rug unexpectedly swept out from under them by these 4 people. Having all kinds of power yet not being able to get what they want, being desperate & irritated for the first time we've seen.
q!Forever's super quick thinking to swipe the prohibited computer parts before they were taken away and using them as leverage. His bartering with Cucurucho, threatening them that it can't do a thing about it and must play by his rules.
q!Cellbit driving Cucurucho into a corner with his sharp intellect. Pointing out the inconsistences, tearing apart its arguments so easily to the point Cucurucho could barely reason back.
q!Bad going off at Cucurucho with these absolutely venomous lines that hit so raw I was shocked. Lassoing Cucurucho and walking them around like a puppet on a string while peppering it with scornful taunts.
q!Etoiles, brand-new to the server, rigging a machine and watching everything happen. Hiding in his back pocket the fact he could destroy the computer in less than a second with a single click.

Brennan is on a tightrope with Tula and is nailing it. Tula is terrified for the safety of her children, haunted by her past, and desperate for any of her family members to agree with her. Brennan has really out done himself in playing the "single mom who works 2 jobs" trope to perfection.
But it's more than that! Tula's character, in the hands of a less experienced improvisers, could easily kill the momentum of the narrative if not halt progress all together. Brennan frequently has to thread the needle of saying "no" to the next part of the adventure but still somehow not impede the plot.
Much of the success does come from Aabria's play style and how she shepherds the cast. But Brennan also knows how much to push back and when to give into the group in such a natural way that Tula's fears and concerns about progression don't become a wet blanket to the mood but rather builds tension. And that tension allows for many of the other characters to shine brighter.
Also, Aabria--I see you trying to break eldest daughter Lila's trust in her mom. Stop it! I don't want this kind of familial realism depicted in my fun stoat-based entertainment series!
